A Cherryville woman says her fiancé was killed over a dispute involving $15
Michele Robles and Daniel Wayne Knighten were digging post holes at a neighbor’s house near their home on Putnam Street in Cherryville on Oct
so Knighten decided to pick up some drinks at a nearby gas station
and rode off on his bike to grab money from their home
Robles said she saw someone walking down the road
and they shouted to her that someone had beaten 49-year-old Knighten at his home
Robles said she found Knighten in the living room covered in blood with a broken nose
Witnesses who were at the home when the encounter happened told Robles that Howell Gene Sisk
who the couple had met only two days prior
accused Knighten of stealing roughly $15 worth of items from him and punched him several times
eventually knocking him off the brick staircase flat onto the concrete below
Witnesses also said Sisk kicked Knighten in the head and face when he tried to get up after falling off of the stairs
When Robles saw Knighten in the living room
she noticed he was not breathing properly and asked someone to call 911
“(He could) make you laugh on a bad day.”
and a place to stay when someone had nowhere to go
that takes a cold-hearted person to do something like that
Especially when they aren’t fighting back,” Robles said
Daniel leaves behind two daughters and two grandchildren
The family is currently raising money through a GoFundMe to give Knighten a proper burial
is being held in the Gaston County jail on a $10 million bond

A woman was convicted of first-degree murder in the death of a man she shot and killed just over three years ago
Kendra Odums, 25, shot and killed 24-year-old Rhonshocki Flack on May 3, 2021
while he was visiting her home in Cherryville
Prosecutors alleged that Odums was fixated on Flack
sending him text messages threatening suicide
and faking a pregnancy to try to get him to stay with her
led Odums to ambush Flack when he came over
said the shooting was the result of negligence
and that Odums didn't know the gun was loaded
starting late Monday afternoon and reporting their verdict before noon on Tuesday
addressed Odums directly after the jury returned with the verdict
"It's been a rough three years of my life … I at least thought I was going to get 'I'm sorry' … She said it was an accident
"I prayed for her … that she ask God for forgiveness for what she done
She has destroyed our whole family," Dawkins added
and others in the courtroom wiped away tears as well
Superior Court Judge Nathaniel Poovey offered Odums an opportunity to speak
Odums chose that moment to apologize for the first time
"I just want to apologize to his family," she said
I care so much about him … This is something that I'm going to have to live with for the rest of my life
knowing that I'm the reason he's not here no more."
Poovey sentenced Odums to life in prison without the possibility of parole
the mandatory sentence for a first-degree murder conviction
Dawkins said she felt sad for both her own family and Odums' family
And I thank my family and friends for coming out and supporting me

A cast of children and teens come together on the stage to sing educational songs about government
science and other topics covered in the 1970s cartoon
audiences tend to see a youth show title as a sign that the show will be a children's performance designed only for children
“Audiences can expect incredibly talented vocal performances
thanks to our Music Director Autumn Bolton and our cast of gifted performers
They will be wowed by the set and costumes
which were all designed to take you back to a school playground in 1977.”
The audience members won’t be the only ones transported back to a different time
the show has garnered excitement from the cast and crew across generations
“Most (of) our cast members know at least one of the songs from school … It has been really fun talking (about) our shared experiences and love of these songs and cartoons even though some of us watched them in the '90s
Along with a sense of nostalgia for older viewers in the audience
Dolan said she hopes the show will be fun and educational for all viewers and get stuck in their heads
“The easiest way to remember anything is through song
I am hoping that the audience gets a song or two stuck in their head
and then someday when they find themselves needing this information in school
they sing it back to themselves,” she said
“The best possible outcome would be that the kids like it so much
they go home and start watching the cartoons all over again.”
Showings take place Friday at 7 p.m.
this fast-paced musical teaches lessons with clever
catchy tunes,” according to a release from the Cherryville Little Theater
