CINNAMINSON – Not even fictional movie character Johnny Dangerously pulls off the black-with-white-pinstripes look better than the Cinnaminson High School softball team
the Pirates just want the opportunity to wear their new-look uniforms more often
Cinnaminson returned to the diamond for just the fourth time this season on Monday
It was a triumphant return as the Pirates sank Route 130-rival Delran
in Burlington County Scholastic League action
“It’s been tough getting into a routine so far,” Cinnaminson senior Hannah Derbyshire said
“Playing one game last week and one the week before that
it’s really tough to get any momentum going.”
More: Who were the shining stars of South Jersey softball for second week of April?
That will quickly change over the next few weeks as schedule heats up with at least eight games to close out April and the possibility of even more contests in the Rancocas Valley Elite Tournament the final weekend of the month
“It’s all about finding a rhythm,” Cinnaminson head coach Lou Arnold said
“We’re going to get a chance to play pretty much every day next week
to consistently see live pitching over and over again
We try to emulate and simulate that in practice
One can’t blame Cinnaminson for being anxious to get back on the field
There are high expectations for the Pirates
who have enjoyed a resurgence in recent years
the program has compiled a 51-24 mark over the previous three seasons with a division title and a sectional final appearance – both in 2023
it was a real eye-opener for all of us,” Derbyshire said
it didn’t end the way we would have liked (a loss to Haddon Heights in the sectional semifinal round)
Cinnaminson’s recent success can be traced to this group of seniors
One of the premier two-way players in South Jersey
the Salisbury University-bound senior is quickly closing in on 100 career hits at the plate and 500 career strikeouts in the circle
“We’ve been really lucky to have her for the last four years,” Arnold said
“I can’t say enough good things about her as a person and a player
She really works hard and her confidence is high right now
When she has a game like (Monday’s contest)
it’s nice to see her rewarded for all of that work.”
Derbyshire launched a two-run homer to close out a pivotal six-run
She also scattered six hits and struck out 10
especially the mental aspect of it,” Derbyshire said of hitting and pitching
has a career batting average that hovers around .350 and an ERA south of 2.00
Game notesCinnaminson was living a little dangerously against Delran before delivering three two-out
two-run hits in the fourth to turn a three-run deficit into a 6-3 lead
Senior Morgan Jans started the comeback with a two-run single and sophomore Hailee Hunter contributed another two-run knock
Derbyshire completed the frame with the sixth homer of her career
Hunter finished with three hits while senior leadoff hitter Maddyn Rittler scored twice for the Pirates (3-1)
had a pair of run-scoring singles and made a diving catch in center field to prevent a run
“There’s always room to grow and we will learn from this,” Delran coach Rick Cordero said
There’s a lot of games left for us to grow

"They were located later on during the incident."
Firefighters from Cinnaminson and surrounding communities operated at the scene. Photos posted by the Cinnaminson Fire Department showed a stack of thick smoke billowing from a distance

2025 at 12:23 pm ET.css-79elbk{position:relative;}The "boom party" noise that has plagued Cinnaminson and surrounding communities made a return last weekend
because the "boom party" noise that has plagued Cinnaminson and surrounding communities made a return last weekend
unsanctioned events where loud music gets blasted from vehicles with massive speakers — have tormented local residents for years
And since the parties are usually in Philadelphia
there are logistical hurdles for law enforcement to handle noise complaints from people in New Jersey's riverside communities
The noisy gatherings typically occur when the weather warms up
Unfortunately for some residents in the Cinnaminson area
last weekend's pleasant weather was met with boom party blasts late Sunday night
A Cinnaminson resident reported the noise to township police at 11:48 p.m
according to the borough's police department
It was the first boom party complaint that the Cinnaminson Police Department received this year
The parties tormenting Cinnaminson residents tend to pop up in Philadelphia's 15th police district
Although it's on Philadelphia police to take action
township residents are encouraged to contact Cinnaminson police when the noise creates a disturbance
Obuchowski encourages local residents to call 911 or the Cinnaminson police non-emergency number: 856-829-6666
an officer will go to the caller's location to determine if a loud noise can be heard," Obuchowski told Patch
"The officer will then determine where the noise is coming from."
If it's a boom party blaring from Philadelphia
the officer will relay information to police in the city's 15th district
"We will then be in constant communication with the Philadelphia police in an attempt to remedy the issue," Obuchowski said
It's unclear whether Philadelphia police took action against anyone at the boom party last weekend
Patch contacted a spokesperson for the city's police department and will update as more information becomes available
Philadelphia police have tried numerous approaches against boom parties
the department centralized its response to the events
But since it wasn't effective in stopping the noise, the PPD put enforcement back in the hands of the respective policing districts last year. Adam Geer, Philadelphia's chief public safety director, said the decentralized approach "increase(s) the scope of enforcement."
Philadelphia police also began enforcing a "zero-tolerance" policy
issuing $2,000 fines and potentially seizing vehicles
most violators only faced fines of $100-300
But Philadelphia's officer shortage has played an impact
forcing the department to "triage their response
with gun violence and other serious crimes sometimes taking priority over quality-of-life issues," New Jersey State Sen
Troy Singleton said last year after communicating with Philadelphia officials
The city ended 2024 with 5,021 sworn officers — 500 fewer than the start of the year and 1,500 fewer than the department is budgeted to have, according to NBC10 Philadelphia

NJ — The Cinnaminson Board of Education is set to have several new members after two incumbents conceded the election Wednesday morning
both incumbent township committee members declared victory
95.2 percent of districts have reported full results as of 11 a.m
according to the Burlington County Clerk's Office
Four school board seats were up for grabs — three for full terms and one for an unexpired (partial) term
The races featured candidates from two tickets — the incumbents and the challenger slate running under the "Every Voice Matters" slogan
Jennifer Falconiero and Eileen Bleistene — carry leads as of 10 a.m
School Board President Laura Fitzwater would be the only incumbent re-elected if the results hold
III and Toni Topps conceded Wednesday morning
Both campaigned with Fitzwater for re-election
"We were overwhelmed by the community support we received
and we want to thank you for displaying our signs
"We are sending only Laura back to the board next year
but we will continue to ensure the best education possible for the children of Cinnaminson."
Township Committee Members Paul Conda and Albert Segrest declared victory on Wednesday morning
"It was a long campaign season (and an extra long election night)
and we would like to express our appreciation and gratitude for all of the support we’ve gotten," the campaign said
"We are honored to continue to work for you!"
Polling places across Burlington County had long lines because of technical issues with the county's new voting machines
A judge ordered the county's polling places to stay open later so residents could cast their votes
The chaos delayed ballot counts on Election Night
and all results are unofficial until certified by the county clerk
with 95.2 percent of ballots counted as of 11 a.m

The New Jersey Department of Education released the 2025-26 state funding figures
showing how $12.1 billion will get divided among the state's K-12 schools
There are 392 districts slated to receive increased funding
175 seeing funding cuts and seven districts whose aid amount is the same as 2024-25
The state allocated $21.1 million for the Cinnaminson Township School District this school year
It was a 9.1 percent bump from the prior year's total
the district is set for a 3 percent reduction in state aid
bringing the figure to roughly $20.5 million
In the current fiscal year, the Cinnaminson School District has a budget of about $66.2 million, according to district documents
Roughly $37.1 million came from property taxes
while state aid covered most of the remainder
This budget season marks the first time that New Jersey has implemented its new funding formula for divvying up school aid
which is designed to eliminate funding gaps among school systems
the maximum year-to-year reduction for a district's state funding was 3 percent
For districts targeted by the past funding formula
the last seven budgets have resulted in drastic cuts to funding that significantly exceeded the preliminary calculations they had made based on what they knew of the formula
The drastic swings have led to supplemental legislation to try to assist districts faced with deep cuts
including last year's one-time permission to some districts to seek a 9.9 percent increase in their property tax levy — exceeding the 2 percent cap instituted in 2010 under then-Gov
It also has led to a larger outcry over changes in demands on school budgets that have altered the landscape for public schools that culminated in public hearings called by the state education department in January and earlier in February on school funding

“Our family has proudly served this community for the past 40 years,” said a post on the SweetWater Bar & Grill Facebook page
“Many of you have become more than customers
We consider some of you friends and even family."
Co-owner John Kyrtatas told 70and73.com it was simply time to do new things
He co-owned the restaurant with his brother George Kyrtatas
SweetWater Bar & Grill opened about 12 years ago
It served American comfort food and was more of a cooler
George Kyrtatas told the Courier-Post a few years ago that times had been particularly challenging in the restaurant industry
Kyrtatas was able to serve customers in a dedicated outdoor space
but it was at a fraction of what they were doing before the pandemic
especially for the restaurant industry,” he said at the time
"We are fortunate enough that we have a nice outdoor dining area
it’s only bringing in a small percentage of the money that the restaurant normally brings in.”

I worked there for 25 years and it was the first job for each of my boys," she said
"I had the privilege of meeting many good people both customers ..
I made lifelong friends there that have become part of my family
"I wish the best for all the hard-working employees and the Kyrtatas family in their future endeavors."

Gia McKelvey homered and Allie Papol went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Greyhounds (5-3)
Delaney Kroll singled and scored for the Pirates (5-2)
who scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh but could not finish off the comeback
CINNAMINSON – There are plenty of great rivalries in South Jersey scholastic sports
Put Delran-Cinnaminson near the top of the list
While the Delran High School wrestling team traveled down Route 130 to its rival school
the atmosphere felt like and certainly sounded like the squad was within the comfy confines of the Bears’ Den
The Bears gave their faithful plenty to cheer about as they won 11 bouts and cruised to a 48-15 win over the host Pirates in a Burlington County Scholastic League meet
“I knew coming in as a freshman that the atmosphere for every Cinnaminson-Delran match is always so electric and it lived up to that expectation,” said Nate Marter
who helped raise the volume coming from the Delran student section with his pin at 144 pounds
Junior Daniel Lewis called the atmosphere “insane”: “I love the fans here
We have such good fans at Delran for every sport
couldn’t help but get caught up in all the excitement
successfully enticing them to get even louder
when you don’t see me (get excited) like that
Those kids came up with big matches (on Thursday)
“I recruited those kids when they were freshmen
when they didn’t even know what wrestling was
Some of them never even thought about wrestling
but I convinced them to give it a shot because (wrestling) makes them better people.”
And they’ve developed into pretty solid wrestlers
The Bears clinched the BCSL Liberty Division title with the win and improved to 14-3
including an 8-2 stretch over their last 10 meets
A victory over Cinnaminson was key in the Central Jersey Group 2 playoff race and should clinch a spot in the postseason for Delran
Nate Marter had been grappling with a tough stretch over the last two weeks
who started January with eight straight wins
Marter needed just 62 seconds to deck his opponent
“It felt good to get that pin,” Marter said
I knew I had to do it for the team and for myself
The junior lost a 2-1 decision to Cinnaminson’s Aras Kumas just five days ago in the Burlington County Tournament
Lewis scored a late takedown for a 4-2 victory against Kumas at 285 in one of the meet’s toss-up matches
“I came into the match with a different mindset
I tried to attack a little more but I couldn’t create my angles,” Lewis said
Scoring changeDelran’s Jackson Weller was originally disqualified for what was deemed an illegal slam during the 150-pound bout
the disqualification was reversed in Weller’s favor after the Cinnaminson wrestler had been ruled ineligible
the Cinnaminson wrestler had a doctor’s note to clear him for a skin infection
he didn’t have the note with him at the weigh-in
he brought it back to school after the meet began
The DQ reversal was a 12-point swing and made the final score 48-15 in favor of Delran
which includes a 14-bout winning streak in January
won by disqualification; 157: Shane Palena
Brady Crow of Moorestown tees off during the 20th Garden State Cup at Ron Jaworski's Blue Heron Pines Golf Club in Galloway
he is the new Burlington County Open individual champion
He had four birdies on the day highlighted by crucial back-to-back birdies on the par 5
383-yard 14th hole to get back to 1-under in his round
Crow outlasted Rancocas Valley sophomore and runner-up Landon Finsen (2-over 74) and Cinnaminson freshman Jackson Lane (3-over 75) placed third
Shawnee senior Ryan Lindh (5-over 77) and Burlington Township senior Brady Roberson (5-over 77) finished in a two-way tie for fifth
“Today was the first win of my career after finishing second place three times last year with one of them at this tournament
I didn’t look at the leaderboard at all during the round
but I knew something around even par would have a good chance to get it done
I still left a couple shots out there that could have helped get it done in the team competition
but I finished strong and put up a good number,” said Crow
who will be attending Ole Miss to study accounting and maybe play club golf
Cinnaminson (316)
led by Lane’s third-place finish collected the team title by two shots over Shawnee (318)
We won the 2015 Burlington County Open as a team
It’s my understanding this is our second ever team county championship,” said Cinnaminson head coach Bret Jenkins
“This is great preparation for the Carl Arena tournament which coming up on Thursday and then for sectionals coming up next Tuesday.”
13 teams (67 golfers) competed on the par 72
