2025Jenn Johnson of Bethel Music | Bethel MusicTo be lost in the heart of worship is something that all Christians aspire to do
To be moved by God's presence due to His goodness
is something so strong and profound that it can't easily be put into words
Popular worship artist Jenn Johnson definitely agrees
For the last 25 years, she and Bethel Music have sought to bring music to the masses that invites listeners to take hold of their true identity and pursue intimacy with God above everything else
"I think that anytime that you're in the Word of God
that brings you to speak about who God is and His nature," says Johnson
who co-wrote the Sunday morning church staple
"Those moments with Him are so profound and powerful that it's an exchange
we really pushed our team to get these songs to a place of being great
but really leaning into the lyrics and crafting them," said Johnson
who co-founded Bethel Music with her husband Brian Johnson
"We really wanted to hone them to be great
songs that would carry the same weight and excellency as they do in the spirit of the song as well in the heart."
Johnson joins us on the "Crossmap Podcast" to talk about the new album and how its title is a declaration of sorts
Listen as she explains why she considers each song a "holy exchange" for listeners
She shares her perspective on the future of praise and worship music

a member of the ULI Programs Committee and head of ESG at Clarion Partners
In anticipation of the ULI Resilience Summit
the Institute’s annual climate adaptation event to be held May 15
a member of the ULI Programs Committee who helped shaped the event’s content
to learn more about what attendees can expect at this flagship event
The Resilience Summit brings together global leaders in real estate and resilience to explore innovative means of protecting cities and portfolios
including strategies for assessing and mitigating climate risks
and the role of public policy in fostering climate-ready development
an industry leader in sustainability at Clarion Partners
joined the firm in 2021 to develop and implement net zero frameworks and strategies
as well as various sustainability and resilience initiatives
Urban Land: Can you tell us a bit about your role at Clarion Partners
I am responsible for overseeing our sustainability and resilience initiatives and our responsible investment process
My involvement with ULI supports my continuing education and helps me stay on top of the ever-changing landscape of this field
I am involved with ULI Greenprint [and] the Sustainable Development Council
and I try to get involved with other initiatives as often as possible
I was part of the Programs Committee for the Resilience Summit
UL: Tell us about your engagement historically with the Resilience Summit
Mahrous: What has your experience been like attending
I have attended the Resilience Summit on and off over the years
because it is well-attended—I love the opportunity to spend time with my peers—and
because it’s a smaller setting than the broader conference
I also appreciate that the Resilience Summit is also typically held somewhere off the beaten path
Evaluating climate risk and resilience for
Clarion’s existing properties and across markets where we operate is a key component of my role
so having a day to focus on this topic is also helpful
UL: What are some of the biggest challenges or trends in resilience that you expect will take center stage at this year’s Summit
Mahrous: The insurance market continues to be a huge challenge
What we can do to maintain insurability at our assets and limit the rising costs is always a big discussion topic
we also all experienced a few major climate events in the U.S.—notably the L.A
wildfires—so I expect there to be some conversation around what happened there and what lessons can be learned from that tragedy
UL: The Summit brings together a diverse mix of industry leaders
How do you think networking at this event benefits professionals in real estate
Mahrous: The networking is always helpful and
a bit easier in this smaller setting than [at] the larger conference
It’s helpful to hear new perspectives on this topic
I feel I usually encounter a mix of old friends and new connections at the Summit
Not only have I made great connections and learned from peers at this event
I have even been able to make friends with people I see year after year
UL: What would you tell a new attendee to expect from the Summit
You will typically learn about regional climate risk issues
based on where the conference is being held
And the more frequently you attend these events
the more familiar you become with the people in the room
I think there is something that can be learned at these events
I had the opportunity to speak on a panel [about] water scarcity at the Resilience Summit
I learned so much from the other panelists
and [I] was exposed to other perspectives on the same topic
I now know who to call for questions on water scarcity
UL: As resilience continues to shape real estate investment and development
what do you think are the most critical next steps for the industry
Mahrous: More connection to local resilience officials in the markets where we invest
a changing relationship with the insurance industry
and a continued focus on protection of assets are critical components of a strong resilience program for the real estate industry
Climate risk management and resilience [constitute] a critical component of my firm’s ESG program and we are constantly trying to learn more
and find the right tools and partners to help us do this

Yemen’s Houthi militants said late on Sunday they would impose a “comprehensive” aerial blockade on Israel by repeatedly targeting its airports
in response to Israel expanding its operations in Gaza
The Iran-aligned Houthis claimed responsibility for a missile strike on Sunday that hit near Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport
saying they are acting in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to retaliate
Most attacks from Yemen have been intercepted by Israel’s missile defense systems
though a drone strike hit Tel Aviv last year
Sunday’s missile was the only one of a series launched since March that was not intercepted
The Houthis’ Humanitarian Operations Coordination Center
a body set up last year to liaise between Houthi forces and commercial shipping operators
issued the warning about targeting Israeli airports
saying Ben Gurion Airport would be the top target
The statement attached an email it said was sent to the International Air Transport Association
and the United Nations’ International Civil Aviation Organization
Houthi forces called “upon all international airlines to take this announcement into serious consideration … and to cancel all their flights to the airports of the criminal Israeli enemy
in order to safeguard the safety of their aircraft and passengers,” the email said
Israel’s security cabinet approved plans for an expanded operation in the Gaza Strip
adding to signs that attempts to stop the fighting and return hostages held by Palestinian militant group Hamas have made no progress
Since the collapse of an earlier ceasefire agreement in March
Israeli troops have been carving out wide buffer zones in Gaza
squeezing the 2.3 million population into an ever narrower zone in the center of the enclave and along the coast and shutting off the entry of aid trucks
Aid groups have warned the Israeli blockade risks a humanitarian disaster
Israel’s campaign on Gaza has laid waste to much of the enclave and so far killed more than 52,000 people
2023 attack by Hamas in southern Israel that killed 1,200 people and saw 251 people taken hostage
