Scott Clifton posted an image that his son
Liam’s got some major challenges ahead of him on The Bold and the Beautiful, especially since he learned he’s got an inoperable mass on his brain
he’s decided that he doesn’t want anyone besides Steffy
which is going to make things a whole heck of a lot worse in the long run
Scott Clifton isn’t facing such a horrifying circumstance and recently shared some fatherly fun he had on social media
Clifton shared a picture on Instagram, writing, “Ford drew it, I colored. #teamwork.” The picture was an amazing drawing of a young man standing outside, and Clifton’s coloring truly enhanced it. His co-stars were thrilled to see it, with Don Diamont (Bill) sharing, “‼️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼‼️❤️,” and Ashley Jones (Bridget) reacting, “Wow!!!”

Clifton had what he calls a “really generous and honest” conversation with his boss
Executive Producer/Head Writer Bradley Bell
in which Bell gave him the heads-up that Liam would be “sprinkled in” to the show’s upcoming story
noting that he could understand if Bell felt that Liam’s go-to story function — anchoring the long-running Hope/Liam/Steffy triangle — needed some time on the bench
“That was something that I had worried about for at least the last decade,” Clifton admits
This guy just going back and forth between these two women
never learning his lesson and becoming more and more unlikable to the point where you can’t just say
his heart was in the right place.’ At a certain point
you can’t even say that anymore about the character
I got exactly where Brad was coming from.”
I got a call: Brad asked me to come up to his office.”
Bell told Clifton all about the brain tumor storyline
and Clifton was thrilled at the prospect of being handed such a powerful acting challenge
because I’ve never been entrusted with something this weighty before
And I’m really grateful to Brad for having enough faith in me to pull this off.”
Expect the story to kick into high gear now that Steffy has broken the terrible news to Liam
a boot camp hell week version of the stages of grief,” Clifton says
“Liam just sort of runs through them all in a matter of several scenes
but I think there are a couple of different flavors for Liam [as he processes his dire diagnosis]
There’s a big chunk of this where Liam is just in denial
Steffy and Finn are trying to get him to wrap his head around this
“You’ll see a little bit of … I don’t know if it’s anger
And it was fun to kind of go through these different ways of coping
eventually he does accept it — and what his attitude is when he accepts it is interesting
and that kind of sets the stage for the rest of story.”
Clifton says that even once Liam has fully absorbed the seriousness of his condition
there is a part of him that is holding out for a miracle
“I think Liam is kind of torn between two uses of his energy
of which he has very little because this [tumor] is making him lethargic and exhausted
and it’s making it difficult for him to do things
so there’s a sort of triage of his attention
But there are also moments where Liam is inquiring
what do the new scans say?’ Finn kind of becomes a really good friend to Liam
And there are moments where Liam consults with him and says
Is there any chance?’ Liam does keep checking in about his mortality
about whether or not there’s any hope here
but he can’t put all of his eggs in that basket
I have to assume that there’s no hope here
The star is aware that B&B fans are actively speculating about whether this is truly the end for Liam
or if the character will receive an 11th-hour reprieve akin to the one Eric Forrester got when he was brought back from the brink of death at Christmas in 2023 — but Clifton has made the decision not to dwell on the possible outcome of the storyline
“They have this adage in acting classes where they say
‘Don’t play the end of the scene,’ and I think there’s something to that in real life
I’m kind of trying to cross each bridge as I come to it and not think too hard about it
I’m only like a couple weeks ahead [in terms of episodes he’s shot]!’ I also want the fans to know that whatever happens
this story is being told with such thoughtfulness and delicacy and generosity and love
the rumors that he might be making a comeback to General Hospital
where he made his soap debut as Dillon Quartermaine back in 2003
“I am not at all thinking about General Hospital or any other show
I’m just thinking about doing the best job I can do telling this story
I just want to do right by this show and this story and and this storyteller — namely

Urban League of Middle Tennessee President and CEO discusses recent report
The Urban League of Middle Tennessee recently released its inaugural State of Black Middle Tennessee report highlighting economic challenges faced by Black residents in the region
The report outlines disparities in housing
education and civic engagement among other areas
It notes that 47.2 percent of the area’s Black residents live below the poverty level
with Nashville having the highest poverty rate in the region
The Nashville Post recently sat down with ULMT President and CEO Clifton Harris to discuss the report’s findings and talk about potential solutions to reduce inequities in Middle Tennessee
Traditionally, the State of Black America report comes out from the National Urban League about every two years
If you don't measure the differences between the races
It’s also a way to show the disparities and hold folks accountable for closing those disparities
to educate the population who have the disparities of things that they can do to help close the disparities
That's the primary reason that we do this report
It took us a little over two years because we wanted it to be as accurate as possible
We use credible sources and credible research so that no one can accuse us of using anecdotal information
Was there anything in the report that came as a surprise to you
One was how early our preschool kids started experiencing racial biases
And then the other was your zip code or the color of your skin could determine how long you live or could cut six years off your life
Quality health care is really important to me
and I want the same level of care and the aggressiveness of care as our sitting congressmen and congresswomen get
What do you think health care providers or insurance companies can do to lessen these disparities
Just starting with providing culturally competent training for health care providers to address explicit and implicit biases and improve care for Black patients in every area and with the emphasis on mental health
Implement health care education in our schools at a much earlier age
developmental shifts and scholarship programs to increase the number of black doctors and nurses
but in health care administration and getting people of color into the insurance industries that make decisions about who gets what health care
Push public policy to ensure affordable and accessible health care for black families
There's no reason why the state of Tennessee should not expand Medicaid
It would give more people who don't have insurance
insurance and it would create more jobs in the hospital network so that our rural hospitals don't have to close
We didn't do any aspirational recommendations
We wanted real things that can be done right now
The report found that Black residents in Middle Tennessee are denied mortgage and home improvement loans at twice the rate of white residents
What are some of the systemic barriers that cause this
When we talk about no home improvement loans and mortgage loans
then we are showing we're finding signs of disparities in those areas
The study also shows that for every $100 that white families have
We are seeing a lot of growth and development in Middle Tennessee
Does that kind of growth worsen or better any of these disparities
Nashville is talking about the growth in one word: prosperity
but then I have two words — which is a question: For who
I think we need to dial it back and take a look at over the next 10 years
If there's going to be a $50 billion spend in this area
we've got to see how that wealth is shared with everyone
by upscaling and rescaling people and getting people to livable wage jobs so that they can secure the housing that they need
the child care that they need and the transportation that they need
We continue to attack these issues as if they are on individual silos
The report noted disparities in civic engagement among Middle Tennessee’s Black residents
Nashville does not have a voter registration problem
How do we get more people to exercise their right to vote
how to get more people to participate in census right reporting
Because all that stuff impacts the community
As more and more people of color are being pushed out into the counties
they're finding themselves in red counties
The Urban League is expanding our operations into the counties to have satellite offices in those counties so that we can help people find their voice and educate and train them not only on how to communicate and write their elected officials
but how to position themselves to run for office as well
We're asking organizations to help us with resources to expand our [voter roll] expungement clinics into the counties that we serve
that's the county seat that you have to go back to and get the stuff expunged off your records

CLIFTON — The city's newest school, set to receive the first sixth grade class in September, will be called Maple Valley Middle School.
school board members voted to name it for the surrounding neighborhood
will be "longer-lasting," unlike the names of some local "deserving residents."
It was a favorite of the school board even before the vote
nothing was announced or determined until the final vote
Who knows?" Shehata said before the meeting
He was part of the ad hoc committee that reviewed suggestions from members of the public and made the recommendation
This will be the district's third middle school
joining Woodrow Wilson and Christopher Columbus middle schools
The newest school will be in what was formerly the Paterson Diocese's Paul VI High School
The building stands on Valley Road and is expected to reopen in September with rising fifth graders from schools 5
the school is expected to house about 650 students in grades six to eight
thereby reducing enrollment at Christopher Columbus
Woodrow Wilson and Christopher Columbus middle schools are each expected to house about 850 students
In March, The Record and NorthJersey.com conducted an impromptu survey on suggested monikers for the school. Among the most popular was John Samra Middle School
after the Clifton police officer who died in the line of duty
Maple Valley also received several mentions
In 2020, as statues were being pulled down by protesters around the country, some city students and recent alumni petitioned to have the two current middle schools renamed
Wilson and Columbus were targeted because of concerns about the historical figures' legacies and their alleged racism
School trustees at the time pushed off any decisions
Perhaps with that in mind, trustees last summer adopted a new policy: the "Naming Schools, Parts Thereof and School Facilities Application."
More: This Passaic County city ranks among nation's 100 best places to live in 2025
It requires that a name change or new name proposal be made by petition with 25 signatures from city residents
must be connected to the history of the school district or area
a former Clifton recreation director and teacher at the high school; and Mark Tietjen
a former assistant superintendent of schools
the recommendation was to name the school Maple Valley after the surrounding community

– Communities across the Finger Lakes came together for a cleanup after storms swept through the area Tuesday afternoon
News10NBC visited a mobile home park in Ontario County where extensive damage took place
Trees had fallen on several homes and vehicles in the park
and branches and debris were strewn across the roads
The storm also knocked down power lines for the park
causing outages for an unknown period of time
“We’re probably going to be without power for a couple nights,” said Tatiana
a resident who bought her trailer from her parents six months ago
She and her two kids may not be able to live in it for weeks
Tatiana described the scene as “terrifying” when she returned home
and there were other trailers in way worse conditions,” she said
Neighbor Jaeson Bridgeman recounted the storm’s sudden onset
everything was calm – then the rain came on
He avoided damage but expressed concern for his neighbors
“Every house around my house got hit
it was devastating to see these guys lose their homes
they’ve been here for [over] 30 years
Bridgeman found hope in the community’s response
“It’s warming…it gives you a sense of hope
“Stuff like this always brings out the best in people.”

Training a dog takes patience, consistency, and many treats. At Zoom Room in Clifton Park, pets and their people are learning how to master obedience and agility and even become certified Canine Good Citizens
Zoom Room is already significantly impacting the community
“The owners didn’t know what to do,” said Zoom Room owner and operator William Overholt
Overholt created the space to build better connections between humans and their furry companions while giving shelter dogs a second chance
Volunteers regularly bring rescue animals for basic training
“I thought that if we could get into a dog training facility and work on some of those basic skills and manners
we would hopefully get more pups adopted,” Overholt added
Zoom Room offers a break from the chaos of everyday life for dogs and humans alike
you have 45 minutes where your phone isn’t going to ring,” said Overholt
“You get to spend that time with the dog you always wanted to.”
That’s precisely why pet parents like Shaun and Julie bring their high-energy pup Clancey weekly.

The British rockers are now part of a tribute album to Clifton Chenier
'A Tribute to the King of Zydeco' is out June 27 to celebrate what would have been the pioneering Louisiana musician's 100th birthday
Taj Mahal and Steve Earle are among the guest musicians who recorded songs for a new tribute album to zydeco legend Clifton Chenier
“A Tribute to the King of Zydeco” features those musicians along with a number of South Louisiana greats covering classic Chenier songs in celebration of what would have been the pioneer’s 100th birthday
“A Tribute to the King of Zydeco” will be released June 27 on Joel Savoy’s Valcour Records
and the label has released the album’s first single
swamp pop icon Tommy McClain and accordion master Keith Frank
“It’s pretty incredible when you start a project like this, how word gets out and people come to you wanting to be a part of it,” says Savoy, a Cajun musician whose parents are Marc and Ann Savoy
taught a young Clifton to play the accordion
As he grew into his own as a regular musician at South Louisiana house parties and dances
Chenier developed a style that blended French Creole La La music with R&B and blues and Cajun influences
And his 1954 recordings of “Louisiana Stomp” and “Clifton’s Blues” are seen as some of the earliest recorded examples of what would become known as zydeco
Chenier won a Grammy Award in 1983 for his album “I’m Here!,” and the next year the National Endowment for the Arts named him a National heritage Fellow
Chenier died in December 1987 at the age of 62
After Clifton’s passing, his son C.J. Chenier took over leadership of Clifton’s band
The accordionist and vocalist often pays tribute to his father on stage
and he appears on two tracks on “Tribute to the King of Zydeco,” performing on “I’m Coming Home” with blues guitarist Sonny Landreth and “Hot Rod” with David Hidalgo of the band Los Lobos
who brought British giants onboard and produced the tracks “Zydeco Sont Pas Sales” and “Release Me.”
“We all got into a lot of cool music through the backdoor of The Rolling Stones and rock ‘n’ roll
And there’s another moment to do that here,” Adcock says
“The Stones being involved and them crowing about it is a way for some kid in Brazil to learn about zydeco and learn about Clifton.”
“A Tribute to the King of Zydeco” also includes Taj Mahal and Keith Frank performing on Chenier’s 1955 hit “Hey
’tite Fille”; country musician Charley Crockett and Zydeco Cha Chas leader Nathan Williams Sr
playing “Easy Easy Baby”; and pianist Marcia Ball and accordionist Geno Delafose on “I May Be Wrong.”
The 14-track album was produced by Savoy and Steve Berlin, a longtime member of Los Lobos. John Leopold, the former managing director of the Arhoolie Foundation — the Arhoolie record label importantly released many of Chenier’s recordings — executive produced the album
Adcock produced “Zydeco Sont Pas Sales” and “Release Me.”
Savoy and Berlin brought together musicians Roddie Romero
Jermaine Prejean and Sherelle Chenier Mouton as the house band to back the guest artists on most of the tribute album
They’ve been dubbed the Dockside Allstars in a nod to their time recording the album at the studio out in Maurice
“I immediately realized how important [this project] would be as a record and how I had to make sure that the correct people were involved in this,” Savoy says
Instantly the weight on my shoulders was figuring out how to do this right
and it was to bring as many of these zydeco legacy families onto the project as possible and get support from the zydeco community
I feel like we did a great job in accomplishing that.”
On Friday, May 2, the Dockside Allstars will back C.J. Chenier, Sonny Landreth, Marcia Ball, Curley Taylor and surprise guests during a Clifton Chenier centennial show at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival
There also will be an exhibit about Chenier in the Grandstand during Jazz Fest organized by the New Orleans Jazz Museum
stage outfits and his King of Zydeco crown
In a couple of months, Valcour Records and Smithsonian Folkways will mark Chenier’s birthday with a 7-inch single release pairing The Rolling Stones’ version of “Zydeco Son Pas Sales” with Chenier’s original recording. There also are plans for Smithsonian Folkways, which now controls the Arhoolie catalog
to release a historical boxset later this year
Proceeds from the sale of “A Tribute to the King of Zydeco” will benefit the Clifton Chenier Memorial Scholarship at the University of Louisiana Lafayette
The new scholarship fund will support ULL students studying traditional music
“These artists on this project were personally inspired and influenced by Clifton,” Savoy says
“I hope the participation of these artists will introduce their fanbase to not only to discover Clifton’s music
but I’d love for them also to dive deeper into the soulful origins of this music.”
Pre-orders for “A Tribute to the King of Zydeco” and a link to support the Clifton Chenier Memorial Scholarship are now open. Find more at linktr.ee/valcourrecords

A barn that became a landmark for drivers heading south on Route 1 because of the large “Biden” billboard painted on its north-facing side has been torn down
Only the panels with the “I” and the “E” remained
The 100-year old barn was located on the Clifton farm just north of Milton
The Biden barn would have been visible to the president when he was being driven to his North Shores vacation home near Rehoboth Beach
The Bidens spent this past Easter weekend at that home
the current Delaware Department of Agriculture secretary
said he put up the sign to show his support for then-presidential candidate Joe Biden
most of the political signs in Sussex County were for Donald Trump
I looked at [the barn] and thought it would be a good place for a Biden billboard,” Clifton said
There have been a lot of comments over the years
Clifton said the barn had been scheduled for demolition for years
It was clear the structure was unsafe and could not be refurbished; tearing it down was not a political statement
He has never spoken to Biden about the sign
so he doesn’t know if he ever saw it while driving by
some of Biden’s people said there had been a photo of the barn hanging in the White House
“Biden is Delaware – somebody whom people have actually met
My dad always thought he was a good guy,” said Clifton’s son
He said the barn had been there since his great-grandfather bought the farm
John Clifton said the old barn held some family memories
but I’ve got all this equipment all over the place that should be under a roof,” he said
“I’ve been through it a hundred times in my life looking for treasure
He said the old brick silo will remain where it is
The Cliftons said they will put up a new building on the barn site to store their farm equipment
“It is a very visible spot on Route 1,” he said

Borg had stepped back from his position following a series of leaked phone conversations in which he harshly criticised Grima and members of the minister’s team
Despite vowing legal action against the person he claimed was behind the leaks
Borg has yet to initiate any court proceedings
despite describing the leaks as “illegal and a breach of privacy,” warning that the person responsible must answer in court for their actions
When approached to state why he had not yet taken the promised legal action
telling The Shift: “I have no comments to make at this stage.”
included pointed criticisms of Grima’s leadership and accusations of dysfunction within the ministry
He alleged that most members of the minister’s secretariat were underqualified and routinely absent
His return to AIMS comes after a brief period of forced leave
Internal sources say Borg had previously been considered for the post of CEO
a role that became vacant following the acrimonious departure of former Labour MP Jean Claude Micallef
Micallef resigned amid tensions with AIMS chairman
husband of former Labour MEP Marlene Mizzi
No internal probe was launched to determine who leaked the internal documents that precipitated Micallef’s exit
has been dogged by controversy since its inception
The Authority has struggled with political interference
and limited progress in fulfilling its mandate

Is the show really about to kill off Scott Clifton’s polarizing character
The three-time Emmy winner’s guess is as good as ours. “I’m kind of trying to cross each bridge as I come to it and not think too hard about it,” he tells Soap Opera Digest
I don’t know exactly where this is going.’”
If Liam’s brain tumor does turn out to be inoperable — c’mon, Finn, Grace, Bridget, we’re counting on y’all — Clifton wants the audience to know that from the start
the arc was conceived and carried out with the utmost care
And the best — and hardest — may be yet to come
In an interview with Soaps.com to celebrate his most recent Liam-versary
the veteran of General Hospital (as Dillon) and One Life to Live (as Schuyler) admitted that he understood entirely why viewers might roll their eyes at his Bold & Beautiful alter ego
But here’s the thing: I’m kind of a hired gun
My philosophy is that my job is to make it work
“if you have Liam go to a club the night before his wedding and show up the next day with blue hair and fake tattoos doing a whole Romeo & Juliet scene in his underwear
I’m going to find a way to make it work.” That he has — always

MEAGHAN: The Hoka Clifton and I have been through a lot
I started running a couple of years before the original came out
but it quickly became my favorite trainer and
I raced my first Boston Marathon in the Clifton 1
and then I toed the line of the Marine Corps Marathon in the Clifton 2
It was the first time I experienced a high-stack shoe that was lightweight and bouncy
and is there anything better than more fun
it’s the only shoe that I’ve purchased multiple pairs of
it hasn’t always been smooth sailing with the Hoka Clifton
Each iteration changed a little — it got heavier
and the excitement of the Clifton for race day faded entirely
But as technology improved and Hoka started using new EVA compounds and lighter upper materials
All of that brings us to the 10th iteration
but it looks and feels like a true Clifton
You won’t find me racing in this model anymore
but is it still a favorite for daily training
the Hoka Clifton and Believe in the Run have a long
a relationship with ups and downs like all do
the Clifton has remained a familiar companion
one piece of the Clifton 10 caught our attention above all else — the new 8 mm drop
then you know it’s rocked with 5 mm drops just about every year since forever
so I reached out to a contact at Hoka to find out just what was going on
“Clifton users tend to put a lot of mileage on their shoes
and we noticed especially with the heel area that the mechanical cushioning (heel cavity) and lower stack was actually leading to a lot of heel compression over time
Pair that with softer foams now than in the past
and it can lead to a “weighted drop” that feels more like a super low/minimal drop
The goal behind the increase was to allow for a tiny bit more cushioning in the heel and to ensure that over time and under the impact
the weighted drop still feels more true to Hoka.”
Hoka made the Clifton taller so that it could compress into the classic Clifton feel that so many people loved
CARYN: The Clifton has historically been my favorite Hoka shoe
I can’t remember exactly how I was introduced
but I know I’ve had a pair in my closet for the last decade
Hoka has certainly innovated well in its lineup outside of the Clifton
My various pairs of the Clifton have been used on the run
as an integral part of my gen-Z-inspired fits (much to the chagrin of my family)
Outside of some unfortunate issues with the narrowing of the toe box in the Clifton 8
I’ve generally gotten along with every version of the shoe
There’s something to be said for leaving well enough alone — especially in a crowd-pleaser like the Clifton
so when I saw that Hoka had shifted the drop in the Clifton 10 to 8 mm and adopted a completely new last
I was worried that the low-drop fan club would be shaking in its boots (er
MEAGHAN: I couldn’t have picked a more gorgeous colorway for the Clifton 10
The all-white upper with Tiffany Blue accents might just be my favorite design of all time
I’m immediately greeted by that signature plush Clifton feel
The padding around the collar and heel is incredibly soft
Even though this update features a new last
with the bonus of a slightly roomier forefoot
I didn’t experience any rubbing or hot spots except for a slight discomfort on my big toe (more on that later)
though I’ve only really been able to test this in cooler weather here in Baltimore
so we’ll see how it holds up when it gets warmer
The laces are nothing too exciting — the standard flat and stretchy — but they do a great job of keeping my foot securely in place
The midsole features a compression-molded EVA that’s lightweight and fairly responsive. It’s firmer than the New Balance 1080 but not quite as rigid as the 880
I’d call it a good balance of comfort without feeling too squishy
I’ve been using the Clifton 10 for my everyday miles and even casual walks
it still feels just as fresh as when I first put it on
the Clifton 10 has stayed light on my feet — my US W7.5 weighs in at just 8.3 oz
found myself once again staring at another bright royal blue upper — a color that Hoka seems determined to keep in rotation
that my favorite Hoka designs come from its collaborations
The standard colorways rarely do it for me
(I’ll save this thought for the “Things We Didn’t Like” section.)
I was concerned about the unusual bulbous heel counter
but it works well enough to lock in the heel without any discomfort
the CMEVA midsole strikes a fine balance between softness and firmness
carving out a clear distinction from the Bondi
But if you want cushioning with a touch of responsiveness
The Clifton’s signature smooth transition remains intact
and we’ll see whether or not it really compresses over time
Hoka’s Durabrasion rubber keeps you sure-footed and hits all the right spots for durability
When I don’t love a shoe’s color but still enjoy running in it
which isn’t light but is fine in a cruiser like the Clifton
I actually immediately texted Meg to see if she was alive
This is Meg’s dream colorway — bright white with some Tiffany Blue accents
loved the crisp color combo of the shoe and the jacquard upper
The Clifton fits true to size with no gapping or challenges on lockdown in the heel
but I actually had to head to a night shift
It stood up to 14 hours of pain-free night shift nursing — a dream
I had a hard time differentiating this version from the prior
I had a bit of big toe rubbing (I might be the problem)
The Clifton is a true daily trainer — you won’t find me picking up the pace in this one — but the foam isn’t mushy or especially soft
As an avid user of the New Balance 1080 (Meg and I have so much in common)
The ride offers more structure due to its slightly firmer
I didn’t really notice much about the new 8 mm drop other than the transition feeling smooth and natural
and it feels like the day I pulled it out of the box
there’s not much to complain about with the Clifton 10
but I think Clifton fans will be happy with this update
The only tiny hiccup I had was some rubbing on my big toe (shoutout to my adorable bunions)
I think the wider forefoot gave my foot a little too much room to do the cha-cha
so I’ve been tightening the laces a bit and haven’t had much of a problem since
Just a heads-up for anyone else with feet that are
If you want to borrow a page from someone else’s playbook
CARYN: I thought the slight big toe rubbing I experienced with this shoe was just my
but after seeing Meg had a similar experience
I think anyone with normal-sized toes will be just fine with this update
but I’m always surprised Hoka hasn’t done something to jazz this shoe up a touch
So many other brands have added supercritical foams to their daily trainers
so I figured the Clifton would eventually get an upgrade
MEAGHAN: The Hoka Clifton 10 looks and feels exactly like what you’d expect from a true Clifton
It’s the trusty go-to for everything from casual strolls to logging those everyday miles
but it does exactly what a Clifton should — provides reliable
I will say I miss the pull tabs and am not a fan of the pointy thing poking off the back of the collar
Save the elf ears for Santa’s workshop
I love this update and will certainly be piling on the miles as the weather continues to improve here in Baltimore
My calves enjoy the new 8 mm drop and lightweight simplicity of this true daily trainer that can do it all
it’ll still continue to be a stylish wardrobe addition outside of the run
You can pick up the Hoka Clifton 10 for $150 on April 15
from Running Warehouse (featuring free shipping and 90-day returns) by using the buttons below
One thing that fascinates me about their decision to stick with CMEVA is that this shoe is on a two-year cycle
While they might be able to get away with a outdated foam this year
I think this shoe is going to look really stale a year from now when every other daily trainer on the market is using some blend of hypercritical foam or PEBA… or whatever wizardry Zoom X and Fresh Foam X are
I’m surprised neither of the ladies commented on the sizing
Hoka have changed the sizing on the women’s Clifton 10
Where my US10 used to be a UK 8.5 or EU 42 2/3 a US10 is now a UK 8 and EU 42
I immediately felt that they fit snugger to my Clifton 9s
Keen to hear any follow up thoughts from the ladies
and website in this browser for the next time I comment

CLIFTON — The city plans to hire a temporary manager on Tuesday to replace Nick Villano, who abruptly resigned effective immediately at the April 1 council meeting.
After Friday's emergency remote meeting of the council at noon
several members said they plan to interview three candidates on Tuesday to serve as a suitable temporary manager until a permanent candidate is found
Serving in the manager's role until then is City Attorney Andrew Oddo
who was hired in March 2023 as first assistant city attorney and
with the resignation/retirement of longtime City Attorney Matthew Priore
is the legal department's de facto if not de jure head
Interviews of the three candidates will start an hour before Tuesday's meeting
Villano filed two tort claims against the city
informing leaders of possible litigation due to a toxic work environment
He also said the work environment was the reason for his resignation
More: Clifton vows to fund health programs that are now paid with federal grants that may be cut
the council may or may not hire a temporary manager on Tuesday
Councilman Tony Latona said he is hopeful one will be appointed
because the city needs a firm hand at the tiller
In the city's council-manager form of government
the city manager is the person who runs the day-to-day operations
Council members set policy and are not to interfere or directly address the department heads
Councilman Chris D'Amato said that while settling on an interim manager is "theoretically possible," it is "unlikely given how this council operates."
D'Amato said the city contacted a number of agencies
"some of which provided candidates for the interim city manager position."
Other agencies offered to help with the search for a permanent manager
The help would be welcome because the city needs to hire the right person to lead it
"We intend to go full-court press and use any and every necessary avenue at our disposal to find the right person," D'Amato said
with Villano's and Priore's decisions to resign
plus an additional tort claim filed by Personnel Director Doug Johnson
has once again fueled proposals for the city to change its form of government
former city Councilman Matt Ward has been pushing for the council to put on the ballot a charter study question
which would ask voters if they want to undertake a charter study
a charter commission would be formed and would hold public meetings and could make a recommendation about a potential change in the form of government
A similar push was made just before the 2022 City Council election
The latest resignation and the ongoing dysfunction of the council and administration have brought new interest
has sought to get enough signatures to require a referendum that
would require council elections to be staggered every two years
all seven council seats are elected once every four years
Voters would also get to vote for their mayor directly
"We've seen in the last couple of weeks a resurgence," Daley said
"We've started to circulate the petitions again."
The effort has collected more than 700 signatures
which is about an eighth of the number needed

Earl Lloyd and Nat Clifton transformed the NBA in 1950 as the league's first Black players
Earl Lloyd and Nat Clifton were the first 3 Black players to play in the NBA
something shaped and tweaked over time to sound glibber and to make for a better story
the heart and the logic and the fairness of it
ring as true today as those values did 75 years ago
On a Tuesday afternoon in 1950, April 25, in a board room jammed with owners and coaches of the fledgling league’s 12 (soon to be 11) teams, the Boston Celtics’ Walter Brown called out a name in the second round of the NBA Draft that would wind up historic
A rival owner interrupted as Brown made his pick
“Don’t you know he’s colored?” To which Brown’s response
a sit-down-and-shut-up smack that instantly exposed how silly
wrong-headed and fearful the objection was
no Black player had played in the NBA or even had been invited
the Washington Capitols read off the name of “Earl Lloyd
West Virginia State.” And four weeks later
New York Knicks owner Ned Irish and coach Joe Lapchick put a contract in front of Nat (Sweetwater) Clifton to sign as a free agent off the Harlem Globetrotters
The NBA’s integration had begun
with three men shouldering the load Jackie Robinson had lugged for baseball three years prior
and Nathaniel Clifton transformed the NBA and inspired countless individuals through their courage and determination,” said NBA Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum
and their legacy as pioneers is integral to our history.”
Having three Black pioneers wasn’t simple for a short-hand version of history
Instead of counting on a single polarizing
with a target on his back for critics and hecklers (if not something worse)
There wasn’t one Branch Rickey, the Dodgers executive who planned for several years to scout “the right man” to cross his sport’s color line
the now-defunct Washington Capitols and others in that room were on board or soon persuaded
Let’s not forget the Celtics’ legendary Red Auerbach, who moved to Boston for that 1950-51 season after coaching stints with Washington and Tri-Cities. Auerbach knew of Cooper, a tough 6-foot-5 forward who had returned to Duquesne and his native Pittsburgh after a year at West Virginia State followed by service in the military. He was 23 when Boston picked him
“My father gave so much credit to Walter Brown
Red Auerbach and the Celtics organization,” Chuck Cooper III said recently in a phone interview
If they don’t draft my father as the first official act
By putting three faces on this issue of race
It looked more like an initiative than a single owner angling for a competitive edge or serving a personal agenda
(Note: two other Black players had bit roles in the unofficial movement
played five games for Tri-Cities in December
Harold Hunter had gotten cut in training camp with the Capitols.)
Robinson’s trek through the National League
followed by Larry Doby’s debut in Cleveland in July 1947
and the signings of minority players such as Roy Campanella
Monte Irvin and Minnie Minoso before the decade ended surely softened things a little by 1950
five years before civil rights figure Rosa Parks took a stand by where she sat on a city bus
Clifton and Lloyd were headed for hard times regardless
gave Jackie a lot of credit for making things easier for them,” Cooper III said
“I think it was helpful for them to have each other because they would kind of look out for each other
They had an agreement they would never fight each other … They would let each other know the safe places to go and hang out.”
one of Lloyd’s three sons: “There weren’t as many teams
it was Chuck’s responsibility to take care of my father
‘Sweetwater’ would take care of either one of them
Pushback came both externally and internally
in their introductions to and movement through American society at the time as well as their acceptance by peers and opponents in the basketball world
Restaurants and hotels were constant hurdles, some welcoming the Black players but many not. Bob Cousy, Boston’s Hall of Fame point guard, was a fellow rookie and roomed with Cooper for a while
When the Celtics played a preseason game in North Carolina in the fall of 1950
the team’s hotel told the traveling party that it would not accommodate a Black guest
Cousy accompanied Cooper on a late-night train to the next city
The two bonded and shared laughs throughout that trip
“That’s one of the big differences between our dads and Jackie Robinson,” Cooper III said in a 2022 chat
“(Robinson) didn’t get a lot of support from some of his own teammates
and he had friends to go out on the town with
there were a lot of people who didn’t believe Black people should ‘glow.’ Have money
Lloyd played in just seven games that first season before being drafted into the Army
by which point some incremental progress in race relations had been made
Some of the bigotry had just grown more subtle
but he couldn’t leave his room until it was time to [check out]
Take a look back at the Hall of Fame career of Chuck Cooper
Their employers posed different challenges
The NBA held for several seasons to an unofficial quota system
Coaches and players allegedly cooperated with some owners’ preference that Black team members do a lot of the sport’s dirty work — rebounding
defense — as supporting players rather than stars
Everything,” Lloyd said of the Syracuse National’s Hall of Famer
and my father was the leading scorer in each of those games
Said Cooper III: “My father was a great athlete
I think all three of them were skilled and as players
Sweetwater actually was asked to tone his game down
At 6-foot-7 with enormous hands, Clifton had entertained vast crowds with the Globetrotters
“He said they told him to ‘play down’ all that stuff,” Robinson said
“And Black players were not allowed to do a lot anyway
He said it didn’t bother him too much — he wanted to play — but there were times he could have made shots
Bill Russell’s arrival in 1956 as the ultimate rebounder and defender — and leader — sparked the Celtics to a decade-plus of dominance with Sam Jones
Elgin Baylor came in with the Minneapolis Lakers in 1958 and took the game above the rim. Wilt Chamberlain arrived in 1959 like the eighth wonder of the world
his 7-foot-1 powers tearing up and rewriting all NBA record books for individual achievements
Then came Magic Johnson and Larry Bird and Michael Jordan and a league that is now about 75% Black
Inside the NBA takes a look back at Earl Lloyd's life and career
Clifton and Lloyd don’t have a shared jersey number hanging in the rafters of every NBA arena
the three wore a total of nine different numbers in their careers anyway
But their collective place in the game’s history is secure
the league created annual trophies for its six division-winners
Willis Reed and Sam Jones also were honored.)
he wanted a raise beyond the contract Auerbach offered him
he got his raise by going around the coach/GM directly to Brown
“It made me feel better when I saw in ‘Celtics City’ [a Max streaming documentary] that it wasn’t anything personal to my dad
He only paid [well] one or two guys on a team.”
Cooper asked for a trade and got sent to the Milwaukee Hawks
the Celtics traded for freshly drafted Russell
he never would have asked for a trade,” his son said
“He would have loved running and cutting off of Bill.”
had played minor league baseball and 16-inch softball in his hometown well enough to earn a spot in that sport’s Hall of Fame
He was with the Globetrotters for two years when owner Abe Saperstein sold his contract to the Knicks
He was 28 when he reached the NBA. His top season was 1954-55 when he averaged 13.1 points and 8.5 rebounds per game
followed by 19.7 ppg in three playoff games against Boston
he went home and drove a cab until he died in 1990
Lloyd, the eighth-round pick, returned from his military obligation to have the best NBA career of everyone drafted after No. 18 Bill Sharman, a Hall of Famer. He averaged 11.5 ppg and 8.1 rpg to help Syracuse win the 1955 NBA championship
having averaged 8.4 ppg and 6.4 rpg in 560 NBA games
Lloyd technically was the NBA’s first Black player
his Capitols opening the 1950-51 season at Rochester on Halloween
one day before Cooper’s Celtics played at Fort Wayne and four days before New York tipped off vs
Lloyd established a series of other NBA “firsts” in the years after his playing days
he was promoted by the Pistons as the first Black “coach only.” (Russell and Lenny Wilkens already worked as player-coaches.)
Also, Lloyd was the first of the trailblazing trio to be welcomed into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003. Clifton was enshrined in 2014, and finally, in 2019
That last one looped back to 1975, when Bill Russell chose not to attend his induction ceremony. Ironically, the man many casual fans might erroneously assume was the NBA’s first Black player did not feel he deserved to be the Hall’s first Black honoree
In November 2019, after a 44-year wait and by then 85 years old, Russell celebrated his enshrinement in a private ceremony
satisfied that three men who paved his way had been properly credited
Their place in the league’s history remains
