CLOVIS, Calif. (FOX26) — Clovis Police Chief Curt Fleming held a press conference Friday morning to discuss the ongoing investigation into the homicide of 18-year-old Caleb Quick, who was killed on April 23, 2025.
The Clovis Police Department gave a breakdown of the incident as follows:
The Clovis Police Chief says they have interviewed over 50 people and are still processing digital and physical evidence.
They are also waiting on several search warrants.
They are asking for the communities help in tips than can potentially help in the case after these new details have been released.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned Hispanic or white male, 5'10" to 6' tall, and left the location in a 2024 or newer white Tesla Model 3 with black rims.
Crime Stoppers is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

CLOVIS, N.M. (KVII) — Clovis High School has announced that three of its students have been chosen to participate in the 2025 Rural Opportunities for College Access New Mexico (ROCA NM) program.
Avery Linn, Guadalupe Anchondo, and Liana Loucks will join the competitive, four-day residential workshop aimed at supporting rural, first-generation college-bound students in navigating the college search and application process.
The program, hosted on a New Mexico college campus from July 23-26, offers students the chance to engage with college access professionals and representatives from institutions nationwide.
Participants will attend workshops on financial aid, essay writing, and college selection, while also experiencing campus life by staying in dormitories and dining in college cafeterias.
ROCA NM was launched in 2021 through a partnership between Northern New Mexico College, the Davis New Mexico Scholarship, and the Los Alamos National Laboratory Foundation.
The initiative aims to bridge the gap to college for students from rural communities. Those who complete the program become eligible to apply for the Davis New Mexico Scholarship, which covers the full cost of attendance at one of six out-of-state partner colleges.
The Regional Occupational Program (ROP) and CTE initiatives, operated by the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools, aim to equip high school students with real-world trade and technical skills. From welding to auto repair, these programs are reshaping the perception of trade careers — and preparing students for the workforce, or even entrepreneurship, right out of high school.
A Clovis West High School senior is sparking success through the power of skilled trades. Kyle Anderson, a student in the school's Career Technical Education (CTE) Auto-Diesel Program, recently earned third place at the 2025 Sawdust and Sparks competition — an event showcasing the skills of more than 300 students across Fresno County.
Anderson says his interest in welding began at home. “When I was younger, I got a small welder and started building go-karts and minibikes in my backyard,” he said. “So I had a little bit of knowledge.”
That hobby quickly evolved into a passion, which he’s now turning into a business — making and selling jet ski parts no longer produced in the U.S., Anderson is mostly self-taught, learning many of his skills by watching YouTube videos.
The Sawdust and Sparks competition, hosted in April, challenged students to build a trailer with only a blueprint and material. Anderson and his team of three other high school students placed third, beating out 23 other teams.
“It shows how our skills can transfer to the real world,” Anderson said. “Especially being in a diesel classroom, I wasn’t around others welding every day. We were really curious to see how we stacked up against people who practice it all the time.”
His instructor, Ricky Jones, says Anderson’s dedication stood out from the start. “Words can’t explain what ROP did this year,” Jones said. “Giving students the opportunity to compete at this level gives them the confidence to tackle anything life throws at them.”
Anderson encourages other students to take the leap. “Don’t be afraid to invest in tools — and just take a chance. Go for it.”

— It was just two weeks ago that Huntington Beach declared itself a non-sanctuary city after hearing an earful from local residents
The city council's vote took effect immediately
defying the state's current sanctuary state law that's been in effect since 2017
It says state and local resources can't be used to help federal immigration authorities
Huntington Beach's city attorney told the council it's time the state got out of the way of local law enforcement to protect innocent citizens
Clovis Mayor Pro Tem Diane Pearce is calling for her city to follow in Huntington Beach's footsteps
I started getting requests from residents in Clovis asking me if I thought that was something that we could bring before our city council as well," she said
Pearce says she took it to Facebook to ask residents the following question
"Would you like to see Clovis declare itself a "non-sanctuary city?"
A discussion on a non-sanctuary designation sparked a debate even before Tuesday's council meeting in Clovis
She says due to the feedback she's received
it encouraged her to bring the discussion to the table
"Based on the strong and vast support that I found from doing that
and came to the decision that it was appropriate to bring that to my colleagues and see if we can follow Huntington Beach's lead and declare Clovis a non-sanctuary city," said Pearce
that was the start of the conversation at Tuesday night's city council meeting
Many approached the podium to share their thoughts on whether to make the city of a clovis a non-sanctuary city
“We should partner with Huntington Beach whose entire city council voted to be a non-sanctuary city
" said someone who supported the idea
we can work with the feds to remove criminal aliens in our community
"I'm against putting a non- sanctuary resolution on the agenda...Raids that have happened so far have led to swipes have picked up not just criminals
pregnant women and shipped them off without hearings."
Another Clovis Resident speaking in favor of Pearce's proposal said
“We got up to 10 million undocumented invaders
A Clovis Resident speaking against her proposal said
“I didn’t know there was a lot of crime done by illegal...they're here because they left the country
“I don’t support this measure," said another Clovis resident who opposed the idea
"We are one of safest communities in the valley and the state
I didn’t know we had a lot of crime by illegal immigrants in Clovis.”
FOX26 News asked Pearce if the risk of getting sued by the state for violating state law worth it by becoming a non-sanctuary city
if that is the cost of keeping the public safe
As soon as we hear whether Pearce's proposal will make it on next meeting's agenda
Pearce posted the following statement on Facebook:

Measles is a highly contagious respiratory illness that spreads through the air when an infected person breathes
Symptoms can take 7 to 21 days to develop following exposure
with the infectious period starting four days before the onset of a rash and lasting until four days after the rash appears
and a skin rash that starts on the face and spreads to the rest of the body
Certain groups are at higher risk for severe illness
The FCDPH recommends that unvaccinated individuals or those in at-risk groups stay home and monitor for symptoms
individuals should contact their healthcare provider and avoid using public transportation to prevent exposing others
Vaccination remains the best protection against measles
The MMR or MMRV vaccine is safe and highly effective
The FCDPH Immunization Clinic offers the MMR vaccine for uninsured individuals or those with Medi-Cal
the Fresno County Rural Mobile Health Program provides the vaccine at no cost to rural residents

2025 — Clovis native and professional golfer Bryson DeChambeau has his sights set on an ambitious endeavor that could reshape the region’s sports landscape
The former Clovis East graduate is planning a sprawling multi-sport complex and golf course covering more than 200 acres near Clovis
While the exact location and backers remain undisclosed
DeChambeau has shared his expansive vision for the project
In a recent interview on Joe Pompliano’s podcast
DeChambeau described his dream as a “multi-sports complex center
the whole thing.” He believes the development will increase the size of the community where he grew up by approximately 30 percent
Partnering with Cook Land Company of Fresno
DeChambeau is leveraging his success—including a reported $125 million contract from LIV Golf—to fund the project
expressed support for efforts that promote youth sports and economic growth in Clovis but declined to provide additional details at this time
the project has yet to receive formal approval
Neither Fresno County nor the City of Clovis has received permit applications for the development
which DeChambeau estimates could take 12 to 15 months to secure
One key component of DeChambeau’s plan is increasing access to golf for young athletes
He envisions the sports complex as a resource for students at Clovis Unified School District (CUSD)
It will be great for those kids—the accessibility they don’t have right now in the Central Valley,” DeChambeau said
While CUSD has not formally partnered with DeChambeau
district spokesperson Kelly Avants acknowledged the potential impact of such a development
“We heard Bryson’s comments on a recent podcast and are excited about the possibilities a project like this could have for the community and our golf teams,” Avants said
DeChambeau’s commitment to growing the game of golf extends beyond Clovis
Open champion has become a popular figure on YouTube
using his platform to attract new audiences to the sport
His strategy includes a structured three-step approach: introducing beginners to the driving range
and transitioning them onto the golf course
“Making it economically viable and more accessible are two massive things,” DeChambeau explained
“You have to have it in one place—a community center that is easy to access and affordable.”
He hopes to expand this model to other locations and develop golf academies worldwide
his energy is centered on securing permits and laying the groundwork for what could be a game-changing addition to the Clovis sports community
As he prepares for the upcoming LIV Golf season
DeChambeau remains committed to seeing his hometown project come to life
his mega-sports complex could leave a lasting legacy
ensuring future generations of Clovis athletes have access to world-class facilities and opportunities in the game he loves
