Idaho State Police and Spirit Lake Police Department are investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash which occurred May 3
at approximately 11:40 PM at the intersection of State Highway 54 and Coeur d’Alene Dr
Preliminary investigation indicates a 2022 Honda
driven by a 61-year-old female from Spirit Lake
was traveling westbound on SH 54 near Coeur d’Alene Dr
driven by a 23-year-old male from Spirit Lake
began to make a left turn onto northbound Coeur d’Alene Dr
The driver of the Subaru was wearing their seatbelt at the time of the crash and was uninjured
The driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and succumbed to injuries at the scene
Traffic on SH 54 was blocked in both directions for approximately two hours to allow emergency responders to assist those involved
Alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor
The Kootenai County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the deceased after the next of kin has been notified and will determine the cause and manner of death
This incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police

Idaho – Residents of Kootenai County are set to gather from noon to 2 p.m
at the corner of Appleway Avenue and US 95
The event is part of the 50501 National Movement
a peaceful protest organized locally by the Concerned Citizens of Kootenai County coalition
The demonstration aligns with a national mobilization effort to resist political overreach and defend core American freedoms
The 50501 Movement seeks to address a range of issues
"This rally is a powerful opportunity to come together
and say loud and clear that our rights are not up for grabs," said Sarah Martin
a representative of the Concerned Citizens of Kootenai County
"We’re uniting with people all over the country to push back against dangerous policies and to protect our future."
The Coeur d’Alene police department announced a memorial service that will be held Monday
who passed away in the line of duty on May 5
“The loss of Sergeant Moore is still felt by his family and friends and the men and women who served with him
Many citizens in our community who were impacted by his dedicated service also remember him,” the department said
There will be a private graveside memorial with Sergeant Moore’s family and fellow officers beginning at 8:30 a.m.
but the department invited the public to join in paying tribute to Sergeant Moore after the graveside memorial has concluded
A procession made up of family members as well as Coeur d’Alene police will depart from the graveside memorial at 9:30 a.m
“The procession will begin at Forrest Cemetery on Government Way
We would like to invite anyone who wishes to participate to line the procession route during the procession,” the department stated
A public memorial service will be held at McEuen Park after the procession
which the public is also invited to attend
Chief Lee White and Lieutenant Johann Schmitz will speak during the memorial
in remembrance of Sergeant Moore’s life and dedicated service
Front Street will be blocked off from 8 a.m
but McEuen garage will remain open and accessible for any citizens who choose to attend
