a part-time Justice of the Colonie Town Court in Albany County
has resigned while under investigation by the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct
The Commission had been investigating complaints against Judge Green since January 2025
reporting inappropriate behavior towards lawyers and litigants
including discussing case merits with an unrepresented defendant and making coercive comments to defendants
Further allegations included Judge Green's impermissible appearances as a lawyer in a local court and allowing his clients to appear in his own court
he was accused of soliciting help from prosecutors for an internship applicant and engaging in partisan political activity by soliciting voters to change their political affiliations
According to the New York State attorney data base
the Commission informed Judge Green of the additional complaint regarding his political activities
Judge Green agreed to resign from his position effective June 30
and pledged never to seek or accept judicial office in the future
who has served as a Justice of the Colonie Town Court since 2021
waived the statutory confidentiality of the Commission proceedings to allow the stipulation and the Commission’s order to be made public
His current term was set to expire on December 31
The Commission's Administrator emphasized the importance of judges maintaining fairness and impartiality
and the Commission issued an order accepting it on May 1

Green is alleged to have acted unprofessionally toward other lawyers and even let some of his personal clients appear in his court
He is also accused of discussing active cases with unrepresented defendants
pre-judging suspects and asking prosecutors to help an internship applicant.
Judge Green has been a Colonie Town Court justice since 2021
His current term expires at the end of this year

Midnight patrol officers will be on the streets over the next few months
leaving flyers at homes that they believe could benefit from additional outdoor lighting to deter crime
Colonie Police are warning residents to lock their vehicles after reports of thefts from vehicles during the last few nights
The neighborhoods that have been targeted are off Albany Shaker Road near Traditional Lane and Osborne Road between Albany Shaker Road and Central Avenue

Colonie Central High School has been awarded $8,750 through a grant program run by the Albany County Legislature and the County Health Department to address the growing issue of vaping and substance abuse among students
in developing or expanding programs that tackle tobacco and vape use directly

said the school district has been proactive in combating student vaping by installing detectors
a measure previously covered in CBS 6's "Crisis in the Classroom" reports
Judge highlighted that students are not only vaping nicotine but also marijuana through "dab pens."
"It's market is that it's marijuana
It has taken the essentials out of marijuana and turned them into this substance where chemicals are there
it's charged and then students are ingesting it that way," Judge said
but this one is now chemically manufactured..
We're coming upon prom and end-of-year celebrations and our students are going to be out and about more
so we want to make sure we're getting them this education and this information."
Health officials remain concerned about vaping rates among teenagers
The grant money awarded to Colonie High is specifically earmarked for programs that will educate students about the health risks
and support those who might be trying to quit

the Colonie Police Department responded to a report of a person with a weapon at the Colonie Inn and Suites on Loudon Road
A verbal argument involving several individuals in the motel parking lot escalated when one person reportedly displayed a handgun and possibly fired a shot into the air before fleeing in a white SUV
Officers quickly arrived at the scene and found no evidence of a shooting
police located the white SUV on Alternate Route 7
where they safely took two people into custody
The investigation revealed that two BB guns were used during the incident
and a quantity of crack cocaine was seized from the vehicle
was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and two counts of menacing in the second degree
faced charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree
unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle
Authorities confirmed that no one was injured and that the shot fired was from one of the BB guns
Both individuals are being held pending arraignment

NY — The Colonie Police Department responded to a report of an assault at Colonie Center at 12:38 PM on April 15
A 78-year-old woman was thrown to the ground by an unknown male suspect
resulting in a head injury that required immediate medical attention at a local hospital
recognized a suspect matching the description from the earlier assault
along with the rapid response of on-duty patrol officers
led to the successful apprehension and arrest of the suspect
Chief of Police James "Jay" Gerace said
is currently in custody at the Albany County Correctional Facility
The department continues to support the victim and wishes her a full and speedy recovery
A man who admitted to sexually assaulting a 13-year-old in Colonie was sentenced on Friday to 14 years in prison
had pleaded guilty in Albany County Court in January to first-degree criminal sex act
The sexual assault happened on Halloween 2021
Assistant District Attorney Ariel Fallon read a series of victim impact statements including from the victim
who said she is still grappling with the trauma from the crime
“I want you to know that despite the darkness you inflicted upon me
I am fighting to reclaim my life and my voice,” Fallon said
but I am not defined by what you did to me
I will find a way to heal even if the journey feels endless
and I will not let your actions define my future.”

Renderings for the project were presented at a town planning board meeting
marking the third time the proposal has been brought before the board since 2023
a protest took place outside Colonie Town Hall
with demonstrators opposing Elon Musk's brand entering the Capital Region
who urged the town planning board to reconsider the project
with building a 30,000 square-foot showroom on Central Avenue right here in Colonie," Fahy said
expressed concerns about Tesla's polarizing brand and the safety of the community
"I think the brand name of Tesla is polarizing
I have concerns about the safety of the community
especially with these vehicles being the targets of being burnt down and the car exploded on occasion," he said
The planning board restricted public speech to topics surrounding the designs
citing New York State's Open Meetings Law
which mandates open meetings but does not require public comment

NY (WRGB) — An elderly woman and her adult son are dead after a house fire in the Town of Colonie overnight Wednesday
Police responded to a home on Tanglewood Road around 12:30 a.m
The flames were under control in just under 30 minutes
The scene remains closed off with crime tape
and the home has sustained significant damage
"So as the first handline was going through the door
and extracted him out of the house through a rear window
and then shortly after that located the second victim."
Romano added that both individuals were removed from the house within 10 minutes of the crews' arrival and were treated by EMS
they eventually succumbed to their injuries
