Converse's latest sneaker looks like a ballet shoe gone All-Star with a slickly pinkish upper and giant ribbon laces (it's safe to assume the "BL" part of its name is short for "ballet") The normal lace system and tongue have been completely replaced with silky ribbon tie-ups that loop around the ankles Converse is offering those for the All-Star Trekwave BL OX and you can lace them up the same way as the other set Your Highsnobiety privacy settings have blocked this Instagram post.Enable All MediaManage consentPrivacy policyThe sneaker's upper comes swaddled in shiny satin while classic rubber details cap off the rest of the shoe are low to the ground like traditional ballet flats Similar to most Converse Trekwave models the Converse shoe sits atop those signature stacked chunky soles stamped with Converse branding (that unmistakable All-Star bumper included) As a result, Converse's ballet sneaker lands as one of the few refreshingly thick-soled takes on the craze, next to Crocs' Mary Jane-inspired EXP Terre shoes and MM6 Maison Margiela's girl-ified Salomon trail shoes bringing the ballerina heat most overtly with its laces and delicate upper Converse has already begun to share its new chunked-up sneaker with the world....well Your Highsnobiety privacy settings have blocked this Tiktok.Enable All MediaManage consentPrivacy policyThe All-Star Trekwave BL OX is currently up for grabs at Converse Japan for ¥15,400 (a little under $110) in pink and black colorways. montage as Kirsten Dunst indulges in a series of dainty-looking cakes but its fleeting presence points towards the often-overlooked heart of Coppola’s vision with the film being sorely criticised for its girlish visual style and alleged superficiality the subtle presence of these out-of-place shoes almost baiting us at the edge of the frame perfectly encapsulates the misunderstood genius of the film and Coppola’s quest to make room for girlhood and the female perspective in stories where it has traditionally been erased Marie Antoinette is a retelling of France’s most iconic yet tragic queen beginning at her betrothal and marriage to Louis XVI at 15 ultimately leading to the fall of Versailles Coppola exercises some creative freedom over history accompanying the story of luxury and excess with a post-punk soundtrack and shoegazy visual style The gorgeously decorated sets and elaborate costumes capture the beauty yet suffocating lifestyle of the queen who was adored for her beauty before the French people began to hate her for her decadence Whether it be the image of underwear draped over a crucifix or a messy bathroom littered with dusty eyeshadow palettes and red lipstick tubes Coppola’s ability to create immersive visual worlds and flesh out the spaces of her characters has been crucial to her work Her strengths as a filmmaker lie in her ability to create emotion through each meticulously arranged frame leading her to a meaningless existence that solely revolved around the one intent of looking beautiful and owning beautiful things Coppola is very much critiquing the lifestyle that was thrust onto her as a child concerning herself with the space that exists between women the worlds they inhabit and the world’s perception of them she was trapped in a world that did not value her thoughts or mind but instead encouraged her to exist as a symbol a symbol that was eventually destroyed after it no longer served those who created it Antoinette was famously quoted as having said “Let them eat cake!” after discovering that the French people were starving while she was feasting to her heart’s content Antoinette is one of the most hated and controversial members of French royalty with her subjects growing disdainful as they became poorer and she continued the same lavish lifestyle when closely reading about Antoinette’s life and the expectations placed on her as well as the lack of freedom that led her to rotting away under the veneer of pearls and luxurious outfits in an empty palace you can make a case for how unfair this witch hunt was Coppola plays on the absurdity of her persecution through her retelling of Antoinette’s story from the perspective of the young girl she was While history books have indicted and mocked Antoinette Coppola highlights the failures of the system around her and the former’s methods of dealing with entrapment Her extravagance when purchasing new clothes and hosting lavish parties was the only freedom she could exercise with the director making space for her bubble and a perspective that was never given any thought Given that her interiority has been erased from history Coppola revises this tale through her modern gaze to make room for a woman who was harshly treated injecting a scathing sense of satire into the story to show just how obscene her life was in terms of the wealth vis a vis a starving peoples and the extreme demands made of her limiting existence Antoinette becomes a young woman who is simply trying to get by within a system that has cheated her of her agency shrugging in the face of injustice and deciding that the fleeting presence of these shoes highlights this very fact reminding us that in the face of ludicrous luxuries and responsibility she was just a teenage girl rebelling as best she could it’s Converse’s turn with the all new All-Star Coupe GB Loafer the Coupe GB Loafer is more formalwear than athletic wear subtle signature aspects of the tips and an embossed logo on the inner heel Though more low profile than other sneaker loafer iterations the Coupe GB still features a classic and flexible Converse sole This Converse Shai 001 is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s first signature shoe with Converse and promises to be an above-average *DISCLAIMER: This preview is based on an early in-hand look at the Converse Shai 001 and the information provided by Converse to this point This preview will be updated as more details surface and we will publish a full performance review shortly before the shoe’s release date Converse has been making quiet but significant moves in the basketball space, and with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s first signature shoe, the Converse Shai 001, Converse is officially stepping into the modern signature shoe game. While Converse has had success with models like the All-Star BB Trilliant CX this is their first major push behind a player-driven performance sneaker in over a decade so it makes sense that his signature shoe aims to reflect those qualities But does the Converse Shai 001 deliver a performance-ready package that meets the needs of hoopers at all levels and the Converse Shai 001 should hold its own It features the same modified herringbone pattern as the Converse All-Star BB Trilliant CX The traction itself features a multi-directional pattern for optimized grip and traction The tread is very strategically designed and mapped for main steps and pivots The Trilliant tended to accumulate dust on dirty indoor courts and wasn’t the most durable outdoor option so but if you’re looking for a blacktop beast a very similar cushioning setup to the Trilliant CX a nitrogen-infused setup that balances impact protection with a low-profile ride and a “stick of gum” style Zoom Air unit in the forefoot Converse hasn’t specified if the foam midsole is built with CX foam or Cushlon Guards and wings who rely on quick first steps and downhill attacks will appreciate how smooth and responsive the cushioning setup feels underfoot heavier players might want a bit more compression underfoot The Converse All-Star BB Trilliant CX was a very reactive guard-specific shoe and the Shai 001 should provide a very similar experience on court The Converse Shai 001 features a very bold design, that SGA, apparently a a talented sketch artist, created himself. The shoe features a fully synthetic, neoprene-style upper that is puffed out in certain sections to create structure and texture in the shoe. It also features a very 2000s-style zipper down the middle which gives the shoe serious Reebok Answer 4 vibes and it will keep the shoe light and reduce break-in time which is cool but as far as performance goes is a good choice to boost containment and lockdown the Shai 001 is nothing to write home about in terms of material quality but excels in every other aspect: design-wise the shoe is unique and striking and performance-wise the shoe should work great on court Support features have been upgraded in the Shai 001 compared to the All-Star BB Trilliant CX something that was missing in the Trilliant There is also a beefy chassis in the heel that will offer all the structure and lockdown that you will need in such a low-cut basketball shoe Lockdown should also be excellent thanks to the double-length build All of this in combination with the wide and flat outsole should make the Shai 001 feel super secure on court so bigger players may need a more substantially built shoe but the majority of hoopers will find the Shai 001 to be more than enough Without having tested the shoe on court yet it’s hard to judge how the fit will affect the shoe performance-wise we can say that the shoe fits true to size You can also expect a slightly longer break-in time because of the more substantial materials the shoe is built with Keeping in mind we have not completed our extensive on court performance testing process we can say that the Shai 001 looks great and feels very nice in hand The shoe features many of the same performance features as its predecessor but also features several key performance upgrades The Trilliant CX was a decent performance model so if the Shai 001 turns out to be an improved version of that shoe We’ll keep our fingers crossed until we get our pairs in for testing All shoes and gear reviewed on WearTesters havebeen tested using our rigorous methodology. This is Converse’s latest move into culturally driven, narrative-rich design—bridging anime fandom and streetwear in a way that’s as wearable as it is collectible Naruto’s version of the Chuck Taylor All Star is drenched in the same unmistakable orange that’s become synonymous with his character the canvas upper is matched with contrasting black laces and design accents that mirror the hero’s iconic jumpsuit But what truly takes this pair to the next level is the Eight Sign Seal graphic—an intricate symbol from Naruto’s storyline—featured prominently across the shoe’s upper Instead of the traditional Converse star patch Naruto’s sneaker features a 3D metallic shuriken badge a clever nod to the ninja tools of his world showcasing the Hidden Leaf Village forehead protector—instantly recognizable to long-time fans and a subtle flex for those in the know This pair is more than cosplay—it’s a street-ready interpretation of Naruto’s journey from unpredictable outcast to celebrated Hokage Sasuke’s shoe flips the visual tone entirely it reflects the aesthetic from his Orochimaru arc where his character is defined by solitude The upper’s crisp base is offset by purple rope-style laces referencing the waist cord from his iconic shinobi attire during this period A closer look reveals the Cursed Seal of Heaven across the design—a reminder of the internal conflict and immense power that defines Sasuke’s storyline A deep blue heel stripe subtly breaks up the monochrome aesthetic while reinforcing the duality in his character Sasuke’s Chuck Taylor includes a 3D metallic shuriken patch but the real standout detail is the scratched-out Hidden Leaf Village insignia on the heel—a powerful symbol of his departure from the village and his quest for personal justice and emotionally loaded—just like the character it honors a striking color choice that speaks to both the character’s initial aggression and the warmth of his redemption arc But it’s the details that elevate this one: a cracked sole texture mirrors the sand manipulation that defines Gaara’s powers adding a tactile layer of storytelling to the silhouette Embroidered on the collar is the kanji for “love” famously etched into Gaara’s forehead as a reminder of his painful past and evolving identity The heel features the Hidden Sand Village protector plate a subtle but meaningful emblem that rounds out the look Gaara’s edition may be the most visually unconventional—but its rich symbolism and textured depth make it a standout for those who appreciate the narrative as much as the design This Naruto x Converse collection arrives at the intersection of anime culture and streetwear—two global movements with overlapping energy and loyal audiences By infusing the Chuck Taylor silhouette with authentic character references and narrative-rich design choices Converse avoids gimmickry and instead delivers a collection that resonates with both sneakerheads and anime purists Each pair in the pack refuses to compromise on detail From the metallic shuriken patches replacing the standard Chuck Taylor medallions to the custom heel plates referencing forehead protectors the collection avoids superficial branding and opts for a deep dive into Naruto lore This level of care ensures that each shoe tells its own story while remaining true to the timeless Converse DNA The Naruto x Converse Chuck Taylor Pack is set to drop via select retailers and Converse’s official website Whether you’re collecting all three or choosing the character you connect with most this collection is a rare blend of anime storytelling and streetwear execution—designed to be seen As collaborations continue to dominate sneaker culture this one proves that narrative authenticity still matters Converse and Naruto didn’t just slap a logo on a shoe—they crafted wearable extensions of deeply beloved characters and legacies in a form you can lace up and take to the streets But fully waterproof and
