LOUIS COUNTY — The St. Louis tourism board will give $1 million to help rebuild the Creve Coeur Park Soccer Complex that was damaged by a March tornado. Practices and games at the complex, off Route 141 and Page Avenue in Maryland Heights, have been canceled since the March 14 tornado that damaged all 13 synthetic turf fields, administration trailer, fencing and numerous goals, benches and backstops, according to a release.  The St. Louis County Parks and Recreation Department will use the funding to replace lighting for nine soccer fields.  The board for the Regional Convention and Visitors Commission, also known as Explore St. Louis, approved the allocation at a special meeting Thursday afternoon. Officials said the soccer complex produced $1.8 million in revenue last year and saw over 1 million visitors.  The parks department expects play to resume in mid-June.   Email notifications are only sent once a day, and only if there are new matching items. Dining On its face, a new project from the team behind the popular Indian restaurant Black Salt is quite a departure Oh London (11411 Olive) slated to open February 17, will feature a mix of elevated American and British dishes with a portion of the menu reserved for a rotating selection of other global cuisines feature a bar that’s bigger than Black Salt’s entire real estate footprint and might eventually boast a nightclub the foundation of both restaurants is the same: to create vibrant multi-faceted restaurants and brands that push past the limits of how things have always been done “We’re trying to venture out and challenge the frontiers of how restaurants are set up,” says Pandey “We’re not happy with the mundane and we believe we can add value to this part of town and make it a place where people want to come to again.” Occupying the space that previously housed The Reserve Restaurant & Lounge (and before that Granite City Food & Brewery) in Creve Coeur the building spans more than 11,000 square feet and is comprised of a massive rectangular bar and a semi-hidden area in the back of the building (formerly Granite City’s brewing room) which Pandey hopes to one day turn into a nightclub Pandey’s plan is to break up the space into distinct yet cohesive experiences—a fine-dining room a lively bar and lounge—to make the large restaurant feel more elevated and intimate multiple experiences will be happening at the same time under the same roof to appeal to guests’ varied interests.  Pandey and his team have put their touches on the space: They’ve painted the woodwork black and the walls a deep red-maroon that will be accented with royal blue to evoke the British flag and luxe soft seating will create an elevated atmosphere that will set the tone for the cuisine coming from the large semi-open kitchen and bar A forthcoming patio covered by an awning will provide additional seating Louis diners have fallen in love with Black Salt thanks to its outstanding Indian fare he hopes that he’s gained enough trust for them to embark on a journey into a different style of cuisine three genres will be represented on the menu Half of the menu will be devoted to the sort of American dishes you’d find in a U.S A quarter of the menu will consist of traditional British favorites such as fish and chips And another 25 percent of the menu will be available for space Pandey and his team to try new things such as a different international cuisine on a rotating basis Oh London will open with Peruvian dishes inspired by executive chef Brigithe Gilardi’s heritage Pandey has hired a talented chef from India Pandey’s also hired a local mixologist to create an elevated cocktail program that will pair well with the restaurant’s upscale vibe Pandey believes so strongly in the potential of this patented food-preservation technology that he hopes to expand it beyond Indian food. That’s where Oh London comes in. He sees the forthcoming restaurant not just as a wonderful project in and of itself but also as a testing ground to see what resonates with customers. The goal, he explains, is to eventually create an Oh London label for American and British dishes, just as he has done with Black Salt for Indian fare. “We see this as more than a restaurant—we are creating another brand called Oh London to be our Western brand,” says Pandey. “If we are successful, we will take it to multiple locations and cities, then finally create packaged food items out of our technology and ride-on network we have already built.” Share on FacebookShare on X (formerly Twitter)Share on PinterestShare on LinkedInFAIRBURY (25News Now) - A Creve Coeur man was arrested in Pontiac after an investigation involving sex crimes against a child Fairbury Police and the CHAOS Task Force said Edward K was arrested on preliminary charges of indecent solicitation of a child traveling to meet a child and possession of a controlled substance Police said they were contacted by a group called Predator Proof who told them they were speaking with someone trying to meet a child for sexual purposes and they were requesting law enforcement assistance Fairbury Police reviewed the case and determined an arrest could be made due to Barboinas allegedly engaging in sexual conversation with a child 15 years old or younger Fairbury Police were assisted by Pontiac Police and Predator Proof You can watch 25News - any newscast, anywhere - streaming LIVE on 25NewsNow.com, our 25News mobile app, and on our WEEK 25News SmartTV streaming app. Learn more about how you can get connected to 25News streaming live news here Share on FacebookShare on X (formerly Twitter)Share on PinterestShare on LinkedInCREVE COUER (First Alert 4) - A World Series champion’s home in Creve Coeur is on the market According to the listing agent, Tommy Edman is selling his home on Ladue Woods Estates Drive. The former St. Louis Cardinal player won the World Series after being traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers earlier this year. 3.5-bath atrium ranch is on a private one-acre lot Laura Sanders of The Laura Sanders Team with Compass Realty Group has the listing. Here's what to know A new chapter is in store for the space that previously housed Kohn’s Kosher Deli in Creve Coeur. Kent Evans and Rachelle L’Ecuyer, owners of Pierce Creek Cattle Company and The MOObile food truck, plan to transform the landmark building into Pierce Creek (10405 Old Olive) the 7,400-square-foot building housed Kohn’s Kosher Deli, a storied Creve Coeur establishment that operated as a deli The kosher facility featured four kitchens and a USDA-approved butchery. Kohn’s closed last July and Evans and L’Ecuyer acquired the building in late 2024 Evans says the first challenge is how to accommodate all of the building’s elements and equipment were included in the purchase “We even inherited a pizza oven and knish maker,” Evans says “both of which we hope to use.” Evans says the immediate focus is clearing the space and preparing to open the dining area and bar which will potentially be supported by The MOObile food truck as an interim kitchen.  The first order of business for SPACE is reconfiguring the building so all the different elements flow seamlessly together.  With a background in commercial real estate and construction Evans believes the 120-day timeline is possible: ““Things can get done—and places can get open—faster than most people think,” he says And the improvements here are largely cosmetic.” Pierce Creek also benefits from its location in the 39 North district part of a 600-acre agtech redevelopment zone along Old Olive Street Road that’s home to Donald Danforth Plant Science Center Bio Research & Development Growth (BRDG) Park Pierce Creek will be the first retail business to open that relates to the agribusiness mission including a traffic signal at Old Olive and Lindbergh and a walking/biking path promise easier access and increased foot traffic “We’ll have bike racks in front,” Evans adds “welcoming riders during or after their ride.” Pierce Creek’s culinary vision revolves around “simple elevated comfort food,” according to L’Ecuyer In addition to signature smashburgers and tallow fries the expanded kitchen could allow popular specials—for instance and beignets—to become regular menu staples In order to expand protein options on the new menu, Pierce Creek will source local farm products from other ethical, sustainable suppliers, including Buttonwood Farm, a well-respected, mid-Missouri poultry wholesaler.   Operations will begin with breakfast and lunch service, followed by events, catering, and eventually dinner. The launch and pacing of the other components—the butcher shop, bakery, and retail market—will depend on key personnel hires. “The brick-and-mortar facility has all the ingredients we need to support the continued growth of our little cattle company,” L’Ecuyer says. In 2018, Evans and L’Ecuyer became the fourth generation to operate Pierce Creek Farm in Lonedell, Missouri. Within a year, they founded Pierce Creek Cattle Company, starting with a herd of 35 cows on the 240-acre farm. Their pasture-raised beef, free of added hormones and antibiotics, is processed locally and delivered to customers and restaurants within an hour radius of St. Louis. In 2022, the couple launched Pierce Creek Food Services, anchored by The MOObile food truck. Known for smashburgers, beef tallow fries, and rotating specials, The MOObile quickly gained a loyal following, even securing a 30-day pop-up stint over the holidays at West County Center’s food court. “Once people sampled a tallow-cooked french fry, they were hooked,” says Evans. Pierce Creek’s mission is to “build a food services company focused on healthy, locally sourced ingredients while being mindful of environmental impact and quality of life,” explains L’Ecuyer. While prioritizing local sourcing, they acknowledge limitations due to geography and weather. As Evans puts it, “If it’s not local, it’s as local as possible and ethically sourced. That’s the one promise we can make.” This philosophy extends to the bar program, which will emphasize local spirits and beer whenever possible. Equally important is hiring team members who share the partners’ passion, including skilled butchers, coffee roasters, and artisanal bakers. “We could hire a baker outright, for example, or outsource that aspect and share revenue,” says Evans. “We could make breads, pastries, and desserts strictly for in-house use or sell them wholesale as well. We could also make bagels, like Kohn’s did. It’s all open for discussion.” Please include what you were doing when this page came up and the Cloudflare Ray ID found at the bottom of this page.
