Not content with just reaching the peak, the wrestler brought along a skateboard, and a recent post on Instagram shows Allin landing an iconic skateboard trick within sight of the summit A post shared by DARBY ALLIN (@darbyallin) the usually cleanshaven Allin can be seen sporting a beard as he lands a kickflip at Everest Camp 2 which rests just 8,000 feet beneath the mountain's summit Using a digital watch to determine the elevation Allin claimed that he had broken the world record for the highest kickflip in history at 20,958 feet above sea level Allin began his trek early last month, and the trip is expected to last into June. Based on updates posted online since the journey began, Allin seems to be staying healthy and making good progress as he summits Everest. The trip had been something the wrestler discussed publicly for years and he was at one point scheduled to climb the mountain in 2024 Those plans had to be postponed due to an injury to his foot Discussing his motivation for tackling Everest in an interview last year, Allin indicated that he wanted to remind himself that he was capable of whatever he puts his mind toward. The wrestler was thankful that AEW was allowing him to attempt such a feat in the middle of his contract, and he shared his belief that the experience will be a "humbling" one for him. The AEW star posted a video to Instagram on Monday showing himself landing a kickflip on a skateboard at 20,958 feet while climbing Mount Everest. To the best of public knowledge, this is the first documented world record for a highest-elevation kickflip. Facebook Follow us on BlueSky #collision #smackdown Michelle Crandall is the city manager of Hilliard Carol Kauffman and John Tetzloff painted an erroneous picture of the city of Hilliard’s past present and future commitments to ensuring this unique and special natural resource is protected The truth is that Hilliard has always gone above and beyond the recommendations outlined in the Big Darby Accord Plan. the entire Big Darby Creek watershed covers approximately 555 square miles About 84 square miles of the watershed is within portions of the 10 local jurisdictions that signed on to the Darby Accord nearly 20 years ago While Hilliard’s portion is approximately 6.7 square miles it is land that our community cherishes and values — and that the city is committed to protecting The Big Darby originates in Logan County and flows more than 80 miles before joining the Scioto River near Circleville It is designated as a state of Ohio and a National Scenic River and is among the most biologically diverse rivers in the Midwest providing habitat to several state and federally listed endangered species and development within the watershed must be thoughtfully and carefully considered Hilliard goes above and beyond Big Darby AccordStandards for development should be high That’s why Hilliard has proudly set and ensured standards and requirements for development that go above and beyond the recommendations found within the Big Darby Accord Plan Despite having just 1.2% of the watershed within Hilliard we consider our commitment to the Big Darby Accord no small matter The city has been a leader among local jurisdictions within the Big Darby watershed in establishing open space requirements requiring conservation design and investing in stream restoration zoning code changes to set open space requirements at 60% for commercial and 70% for residential developments were recommended by Hilliard’s Planning and Zoning Commission and approved by Hilliard City Council The Darby Accord Plan recommends 50% open space for development Hilliard also requires at least 50% of the required open space to be restored to native prairie and/or forest Strict state and federal stormwater and wetland regulations are followed and monitored with all development and Hilliard’s standards require wetland/littoral shelves for all wet ponds — approaches that protect local waterways The city’s recently adopted comprehensive community plan calls for a greenbelt to be developed along Hilliard’s westernmost edge within the Big Darby watershed This is envisioned to be a series of restored open-space parcels that eventually will be interconnected with trail access Hilliard’s open space requirements have led to the preservation of 681.56 acres of land in the Big Darby watershed Opinion: Hilliard shattered 19-year-old pact in name of development. Big Darby will suffer. Two important tributaries of the Big Darby are within the City of Hilliard: the Clover Groff and the Hamilton Run Hilliard has invested more than $3.5 million to restore substantial sections of both tributaries about half of this total investment has come from successful grant-funding applications the headwaters of the Clover Groff are now being preserved and protected The city of Hilliard looks forward to continuing to work collaboratively with the nine other jurisdictions that are partners in the Big Darby Accord Plan This year those 10 jurisdictions began the process of updating the now nearly 20-year-old plan we will keep at the forefront the same preservation and protection goals we had when the plan was first adopted Lady Vols basketball guard Edie Darby is medically retiring who has exhausted her eligibility after playing five seasons at Tennessee Edie Darby has been a walk-on for the Lady Vols for the last three seasons "Getting to wear 'Tennessee' across my chest and be a Lady Vol these past three years has been so rewarding in so many ways," Darby wrote on Instagram "Playing on the biggest stage in women's basketball has truly been a dream come true I am filled with so much gratitude for every moment." The 5-foot-7 Darby appeared in 31 games and averaged 4.3 minutes over three seasons She only appeared in eight games this season and averaged 1.8 points and shot 33.3% from 3-point range "This game has given me so much – it's shaped me and given me opportunities I will never take for granted," Darby wrote "After a lot of prayer and listening to my body I have made the decision to medically retire from basketball It's a decision I never thought or wanted to make but it is rooted in faith and trust in the Lord's plan for what is next." construction the proposed replacement structure will be widened approximately 13’ in the northbound direction this additional bridge width allows for two travel lanes in each direction Due to the high traffic volumes and the intersections located near the bridge reducing the number of lanes during construction would severely impact traffic flow resulting in significant delays along Route 1 the additional bridge width will be used as a wide shoulder on the bridge and an auxiliary lane north of the bridge The proposed bridge provides for two southbound travel lanes along with shoulders and sidewalks on both sides The northbound auxiliary lane will provide for right turns from Route 1 NB to WAWA and State Road (SR 2026) The proposed structure replaces the existing two-span steel structure with a 105’-11” long single-span prestressed concrete bulb-tee beam bridge The existing abutments will be removed and replaced with new reinforced concrete abutments To accommodate traffic control lane shifts on Route 1 approximately 1,200 linear feet of concrete mountable median will be replaced with temporary pavement The median will be restored in the final condition and pavement will be milled and resurfaced Other structure improvements include the removal of the existing pier in Darby Creek and scour projection in front of both bridge abutments The existing traffic signal at the intersection of State Road and Rolling Road will be replaced with new traffic signal equipment Existing utilities will be adjusted and relocated as part of the project This project is needed to replace the existing structurally deficient steel bridge built in 1950 The overall condition of the structure is poor based on the superstructure condition rating The existing steel beams exhibit severe rust and section loss and the concrete deck includes spalls and severely rusted reinforcing steel The channel exhibits advanced scour impacting the low of Darby Creek near the bridge The third who led Hartley to 168 wins and three state championships in 17 seasons was announced Wednesday afternoon as the next coach at Hilliard Darby hours after news of his departure from the Hawks went public Burchfield, who is one win away from 200 in his career guided Hartley to Division IV titles in 2010 the latter two both by three points against Steubenville at Ohio Stadium He met with Hartley players Wednesday morning and with Darby players after school His hiring at Darby is pending school board approval it will always be a part of me and I will always be so proud of everything," Burchfield told The Dispatch really excited to start new and have a new challenge I wouldn’t be going somewhere that was not a great job and a great place.” Chosen from more than 50 applicants, Burchfield succeeds John Santagata, who resigned in November after 17 seasons “We were on the same page with our philosophies and toughness,” Darby athletic director Chris Ludban said of Burchfield Burchfield shared news of his departure from Hartley in the morning via a letter posted to the Hartley football team’s X account He’s taking over a program that went 113-68 under Santagata reaching the playoffs 11 times and winning two OCC championships whose only win in 2024 came against 0-10 Thomas Worthington has not had a winning season since 2021 and just one since 2019 and it looked like a pretty good fit,” Burchfield said “Their brand of football is what we believe in The fundamentals and foundations are very similar We've played a lot of (Division I teams) at Hartley and beat some There is also a hunger and thirst to be in front of a big community on a Friday night where it’s a way of life and the excitement is palpable all of those kinds of things that come with a town and a community like this.” Burchfield will work with Capstone projects and other senior-related requirements at Darby That is essentially the same role Santagata who is retiring from teaching after this school year “He’s a great coach,” Hartley junior quarterback Matt Galich said “He started a lot of traditions here for us but I also respect his decision because it’s his life He made a decision for what he thought was best I’m excited to see what we can get going here soon “He’s really helped with the mental aspect of the game keeping my head right when stuff goes wrong and just teaching me how to carry myself on the field you can’t really show emotions because that brings your whole team’s morale down He really taught me how to stay level-headed.” A 1993 graduate of Reynoldsburg who owns a 199-68 career record Burchfield launched his head-coaching career with a five-season run at Centerburg (2003-07) in which he went 31-25 with a Division V state semifinal appearance in 2005 That remains the only regional championship in Trojans history he’s been as successful as anybody has been,” DeSales coach Ryan Wiggins said “I’ll miss the CCL partnership with coach Burchfield but I’m sure I’ll be able to stay in contact with him.” dpurpura@dispatch.com @dp_dispatch Thanks for visiting The use of software that blocks ads hinders our ability to serve you the content you came here to for a new 300-unit housing development on the city's western edge Developer M/I Homes first proposed the Hill Farm 2 subdivision in the Big Darby Accord area last year which got negative feedback from the Darby Creek Association as well as the planning and zoning commission: Hilliard did not have enough sewer capacity at the time to accommodate the new growth But Hilliard has since reached an agreement with Columbus for over 1,300 additional sewer taps in the area The project passed the planning commission in February with a 6-1 vote amid opposition from local environmental groups as well as nearby neighbors worried about additional traffic in the area Over a dozen people signed up to speak in opposition at the recent planning and zoning commission and the first reading before city council Environmentalists have testified that the Big Darby Accord a multijurisdictional agreement first signed in 2006 is being renegotiated and that additional development should be put on hold until it’s finalized the Ohio Department of Natural Resources has been collecting data on the biodiverse watershed which will not be available until the summer Development plans include setting aside about 70% of the space as an open area The developer has also committed to funding infrastructure improvements and reforesting some of the land Hilliard’s attorney told city council during the first reading of the ordinance that the additional sewer taps for this development do not violate the Big Darby Accord The meeting starts at 7 p.m. Monday at the Hilliard Municipal Building More background:
