Davie reveals how learning self-production led her to her debut EP The journey to releasing this EP has felt like an eternity but it felt like things just never quite clicked when I went into the studio to record I didn’t truly know what my produced music should sound like – how do I make it sound like me I approached production by showing collaborators my song on acoustic guitar and trying to explain my folk/indie/pop vision without any real technical understanding of how it could be achieved music has been in my life since primary school but being primarily immersed in acoustic genres (folk jazz and classical) meant I learnt very little about record production a vital aspect of the modern musician’s career I was overwhelmed by all the creative choices to be made and the limitlessness of what could be achieved in the studio I felt totally unqualified to answer these questions I deferred decisions to my predominantly male producers or collaborators and placed myself in the backseat I started to realise that this conceding to others’ opinions was letting me down I began unpacking this bias toward my own capability; this belief that as a female singer-songwriter I needed to rely on someone else to make or break my music It’s easy to see how this idea could be formed in an industry where gendered perceptions of music technology have accompanied the history of recorded music contributing to the marginalisation of women from technology-related careers In a professional studio already wrapped in power dynamics I questioned how a female singer-songwriter with limited technical knowledge can ensure her creative voice is defended Don't miss a beat with our FREE daily newsletter investigating how self-production can affect the female singer-songwriter’s creative process to go down rabbit-holes without fear of judgement or wasting others’ time I could hear what production changes might sound like within the holistic song context I self-produced demos of six potential tracks and brought them to the wonderful Sam Cromack (Ball Park Music) who re-recorded them with my band into an EP (even keeping some elements I recorded at home) This journey taught me I didn’t need to become completely self-sufficient to create songs I could be proud of What I needed was a deeper understanding of This empowered me to truly collaborate with Sam warmth and skill made each song better than it would have been without him I feel as though I finally found my seat at the table May 1 - Canberra @ Smiths Alternative w/ Stella Eve May 2  - Sydney @ Butchers Brew w/ Betty  May 3 - Melbourne @ Merri Creek Tavern w/ Kaitlin Keegan  May 4 - Warburton @ Arts Centre w/ Follow The Robin May 10 - Ipswich @ Studio 188 w/ Paulina  May 11 - Sunshine Coast @ Eudlo Hall w/ Those Folk  May 16 - Murwillumbah @ The Citadel w/ Cigány Weaver  May 17 - Brisbane @ Black Bear Lodge w/ Lottie McLeod & Serendipiti  Find tickets and more information here. He was born the sixth child of thirteen. He would often say, “Being squished with 6 siblings on top of him and 6 siblings under him helps develop his character.” David was very strong physically and mentally. He loved exercising his body and mind. David educated himself, for he only made it to the first grade. He could do any math up to calculus. He was a bookworm, he read all kinds of books. He was a great help to us when we needed help with math or with writing a report. When we wrote a report paper, our English had to be on point. David was a Master in Chess, Checkers, and Dominoes. He loved playing all kinds of word and mind games, and 98% of the time, he won. David was a Professional Harmonica Player and would sing over anyone who sang one of his favorite songs. David married his wife, Grace Mabine, in 1954, and she went home in 2015. They also raised their nephew, Reggie, who is also deceased. He is survived by his beautiful sister, Zenora Watford, whom he loved deeply, and a host of nieces and nephews, great, great-great, great-great-great!!!!!!!!! Thinking of you and Aunt Gracie. I have loving memories of you both throughout my childhood. Elder David was always such a positive person and made you feel like you mattered. I loved his recital of Scriptures and Poems and playing the harmonica. He loved the Word and Name of Yahweh. His posture of The Faith and outlook on life reflected positivity even to his last days. I miss him and Sister Gracie Mabine. Together they were so loving and lovely. Rest in Yahshua, rest in Yahshua. My. fondest memories as a child Uncle David and Aunt Gracie loved to listen to Country music, watch Hee Haw and the Lawrence Welk show. Uncle David was a great singer. As a child i never heard him raise his voice. He was always cordial. I’m thankful that God put him in the family. He was truly a blessing to have. God blessed him with long life. Now he’s resting in His peace. Lifting the family in prayer of comfort during this. Uncle David you got your wings and now you’re spiritually free. You were such a kind, caring, and funny man. Cracking jokes, especially about my teaching the kids in school. You always made time for family. You and aunt Gracie were a loving couple. Take your rest. I will miss you but I know you are alright now. May God comfort the family with love. The Québec-based shipbuilder said it will implement a workforce exchange program, enabling Canadian workers to gain firsthand experience from Finnish shipbuilders. Davie is also investing over $200 million in modernizing its shipyard and supporting local suppliers.  WorkBoat reached out to both shipbuliders for further specs on the new vessels.  The Canadian government said the two projects are expected to create thousands of jobs across Canada engaging over 1,000 local shipbuilders at Seaspan and accelerating hiring at Davie A Deloitte economic analysis found that Seaspan has already contributed $5.7 billion to Canada’s GDP from 2012 to 2023 “The polar icebreaker will allow us to operate in the Arctic year-round delivering crucial services to Northern communities while strengthening Canada’s sovereignty,” said Diane Lebouthillier The Candian government noted in November 2024 the three countries signed an ICE Pact Memorandum of
