Falling tree limbs in Birmingham kills one person
— A crash involving a school bus is under investigation after a collision with a passenger vehicle on Monday morning
According to the Gardendale Police Department
the crash occurred at approximately 9:20 a.m
at the intersection of Decatur Highway and Moncrief Road
The impact caused the school bus to veer off the roadway and come to a stop in a nearby ditch
Emergency medical personnel evaluated all individuals involved in the accident
Multiple students from Fultondale High School and a teacher sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to local medical facilities for further evaluation
The driver and a passenger of the other vehicle involved were also taken for medical assessment
Parents and guardians of the students have been notified by school officials
Chief of Police Scott Banks stated that the Gardendale Police Department is collaborating with the Jefferson County Board of Education to conduct a thorough investigation
The cause of the accident is still under investigation
and further updates will be provided as new information becomes available

It's Bayside Championship week for spring sports like baseball
softball and lacrosse on the Eastern Shore of Maryland
there will be a familiar school representing the Bayside South in all four Conference title games on Monday and Tuesday
softball and boys and girls lacrosse teams each clinched the Bayside South this year
meaning that four squads from the Berlin school will have the chance to bring home a Bayside title in the coming days
There will be formidable Bayside North squads standing in each team's way though
and with the lacrosse games on Monday at Decatur and the baseball and softball teams competing in Salisbury on Tuesday
it should be an exciting week of competitive high school sports

A rematch of last year's Bayside title game
matchups between Decatur and Kent Island have become must see battles between the leagues two top teams
with Decatur winning in the regular season and Kent Island in the Bayside Championship
And this year's regular season game between the two was decided by just one goal
with Kent Island winning 14-13 in late March
Decatur has made the Bayside title game four years in a row now
but have come up just short of lifting the trophy
Given the close battles between these two in recent seasons
it wouldn't be a surprise if Decatur finally grabbed the conference title

Stephen Decatur is back in the girls lacrosse Bayside Championship yet again
and they will be facing a familiar foe on their home field in Berlin on Monday
Queen Anne's has won each of the last four Bayside titles
and a win over Decatur would make it number five
a win on Monday would bring them the conference title
and will see them knock off the foe that has kept them from becoming Bayside champions in recent years
When they faced off in the regular season in Centreville
the result was a 16-6 victory for Queen Anne's
With home field advantage and a conference title on the line
the Seahawks will look to turn the tables on their Bayside North opponents

It's been three years since Decatur last made it to the Bayside title game
after a thrilling 3-1 road win over defending champions Mardela
the Seahawks are back with a chance to grab another Bayside title
a team that has been the runner-up to Mardela in each of the last two Bayside Championship games
Just like the matchup between Decatur and Mardela featured two of the best softball squads the Bayside had to offer
this battle will be no different with the conference title on the line
These two teams did not face off in the regular season
meaning it will be a fresh matchup for both when they take the field at Salisbury University on Tuesday
With Decatur riding high after their big win last week
and North Dorchester hungry to finally grab the Bayside title
it should be a thrilling watch for local high school softball fans
the winner of the Bayside South for the second year in a row
as they look to go back-to-back as conference champions
will look to grab the first of a few titles they are looking to add to their trophy cabinet this year
Bennett helped the Seahawks earn their spot in the Bayside title game
and their dominance throughout the season has certified their credentials as one of Maryland's best baseball teams after back-to-back state semifinal appearances
the Seahawks have proven themselves to be a complete team this year
The Seahawks will arrive at Perdue Stadium ready to face a Quenn Anne's team that emerged from a crowded field in the Bayside North
It is their first Bayside title appearance since 1980
When they faced each other earlier this season
Decatur left Queen Anne's with an 8-4 victory
Decatur will be looking for a replay of that early season win
while Queen Anne's will look to flip the script at Perdue Field

DECATUR — The rainy weather this past weekend was ideal for ducks, including the thousands of rubber ducks launched on Saturday for the annual Children's Museum of Illinois Duck Derby
Toshua York claimed the $3,000 first-place prize

and third place and the $500 prize went to Jerry Young
The event is a fundraiser for the children's museum and sponsored by Jerger Pediatric Dentistry
a few of the outdoor activities scheduled for the Saturday event were postponed
The museum will reschedule a Family Fun Day this summer with a few of the activities

Stirling is described by police as a Black man who stands 5 feet

Police believe Stirling may be traveling on foot
