The Edmond Police Department released new information on Friday on an officer-involved stabbing
They said Officer Caleb Hodam was recovering in the hospital and is expected to survive
The officer was attacked on Thursday by a knife-wielding man during a traffic stop
Edmond police arrested the 22-year-old Ocean Hudson at the scene
A traffic stop near East 15th Street and Broadway turned into a crime scene
“It was late in the afternoon probably around 4:30,” said Morgan Bear
Morgan Bear owns a gun shop in the area and said the violent attack in the parking lot came out of nowhere
“Pepper sprayed the officer doing the traffic stop and then there was a scuffle that ensued,” said Bear
Police said Hudson stabbed the officer twice during the struggle
Investigators found surveillance video from Jersey Mike's showing Hudson leaving his truck and running towards the officer
The woman pulled over on the traffic stop witnessed the entire attack
“There was a bystander who jumped in to try and help and another officer showed up.”
Bear believes Hudson was tased rather than shot because the injured officer was pepper sprayed and there was a struggle on the ground involving several people
“Those officers have to be concerned with everyone’s safety,” said Bear
Police said officers on-scene rendered aid to the fallen officer before he was rushed to OU Medical Center
“They never know what to expect when they walk up to a traffic stop but

I can't buy a $5,000 oil painting,' but so many of the artists have $10 prints
if you just want to come and buy a little something
or you want to come and buy a big something
or your kid wants to come and buy something
there's just a little bit of something for everybody," said festival director Michelle Schaefer
Here's what you need to know about the 2025 Downtown Edmond Arts Festival:
What are the festival hours and where can people park?Hours for the Downtown Edmond Arts Festival are 10 a.m
Multiple streets and alleys in downtown Edmond are closed for the event
festivalgoers are encouraged to park in the University of Central Oklahoma lots on the west side of First Street and University Drive and board a shuttle for the free three-minute ride to First Street and Littler Avenue
The free shuttle will run every 15 minutes from UCO to downtown Edmond throughout the festival

including 66 from 16 states outside Oklahoma
with some traveling from as far as Minnesota

a dedicated section of First Street will spotlight artisans and crafters who will show off their skills in leather
About 20 of the artists participating in the Downtown Edmond Arts Festival were showing their work last week in downtown Oklahoma City's long-running Festival of the Arts, Schaefer said. A sizable contingent of those artists next will head to Tulsa's Mayfest, which is May 9-11 in downtown Tulsa
"We have about an 85% return rate of artists who come back with us
We've got 14 artists who've been with us 15 or more years
but then we also have 34 new artists that people have never seen before in our show
OKC graphic designer, illustrator and photographer Todd E. Clark has been chosen as this year's featured artist for the Downtown Edmond Arts Festival. His colorful "Kitty Boy Prints," which depicts his cat named Prints in a cowboy hat and Western shirt

And festivalgoers can try their own hand at making art at the chalk garden under the pavilion
Attendees will find an array of festival foods on the menu at the 47th annual event

how we afford our services that we provide to our members to promote and bring people to downtown," Schaefer said
"A lot of the stores are open extended hours
The restaurants are offering special deals
and we want people to not only look at the art

Edmond police responded to a burglary at a home on Pinnacle Lane
officers spoke to a female victim who was home alone during the incident
The female victim told investigators that three male suspects entered the home while she was in her bedroom
She said the suspects punched her in the face several times and struck her with an ice scraper
The suspects reportedly went through the home and stole about $10,000 belonging to the woman and her roommates
the suspects reportedly told her they were looking for one of her roommates and that they would be returning
one of whom was the woman they spoke to from the first incident
Officers learned that one had been assaulted and a third roommate was dead in one of the bedrooms after being shot
Investigators believe there was an altercation in the back bedroom before the fatal shooting
two blood-covered knives were found in the room
leaving investigators to believe that one of the suspects was injured
Officials said one of the suspects wore light-colored shoes with black soles and distinct black spots on the toe and midsole areas
detectives identified a white Kia Forte as a car that was possibly used in the murder
The car came back registered to Alayjah Stewart and Adrian Carr
Officials said dealership paperwork linked Tauriawn Knight to the vehicle
Police found the car at an apartment complex
and the dealership decal were removed to possibly hinder identification
After briefly interviewing Stewart and Carr
investigators identified Zimarion Blocker as a possible suspect
Knight and Robert Mayfield were arrested for their involvement
Officers reported that Mayfield's hand was heavily bandaged when he was arrested
The affidavit said Blocker is a known associate of Knight and Mayfield
a Forest Police Officer stopped a Kia Forte driven by Mayfield
Blocker was wearing light-colored shoes like the ones seen in the surveillance video from the night of the murder
investigators were near Gaelic Glen Drive searching for Blocker
He was seen entering and exiting a home before leaving in a black Chevy sedan
and Blocker reportedly agreed to be interviewed
He also denied having contact with Knight and Mayfield since the traffic stop
The affidavit also stated Blocker denied going to the Pinnacle Lane address
evidence contradicted Blocker's story and confirmed his involvement in both incidents:
The following have been arrested in connection with the murder:

tied to a violent kidnapping and robbery near Edmond in 2024
According to a press release from the Oklahoma County Sheriff's office
the arrests follow a months-long investigation into the June 14
in which a woman was forcibly taken at gunpoint from the parking lot of a coffee shop near 178th Street and North MacArthur Boulevard
the suspects beat and choked the woman until she was unconscious

authorities say the victim was released in southwest Oklahoma City
prompting the issuance of a Kasey Alert that was later canceled once she was found and evaluated by EMSA

Authorities say that photos taken from the victim’s Tesla and later social media activity played a key role in identifying at least one of the suspects
Sheriff Johnson emphasized that the incident was not random and that the public was not in danger

After entering a four-man field and surviving a tight general election cut
Mark Nash has won the Edmond mayoral seat in a runoff against former Ward 1 Councilman Tom Robins
finalizing a new-look city council set to be seated this May
Edmond Public Schools Board of Education District 5 incumbent Marcus Jones retained his seat as the district moves through its superintendent search
According to unofficial online results from the Oklahoma State Election Board, out of 9,654 votes cast, Nash earned 54.86 percent and beat Robins by 938 votes. In the February general election
Nash also finished ahead of Robins as the race’s top candidate
A career fiscal professional, Nash said throughout his campaign that the failed general obligation bond proposal on the ballot last November served as his primary motivation to run for mayor
He repeatedly voiced his opposition to the measure’s attempt to raise property taxes by about 14 percent and outlined a vision to simplify city finances and more responsibly spend available funds
was one of the GO bond package’s most vocal supporters
he was more open to suggesting the Edmond Police Department could improve its community policing efforts than Robins
who sported the endorsement of the local Fraternal Order of Police chapter
“Today’s win is the first step in a united effort to bring greater transparency and accountability to Edmond city finances and planning
Edmond voters have spoken with undeniable clarity that there is work to be done and they’ve entrusted me to do exactly what I’ve said,” Nash said
