Police and fire crews in Lawrence County responded to a crash that seriously injured an 18-year-old Ellwood City man Sunday morning.
The incident happened at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Wampum Road just south of Oswald Street in Wayne Township, according to a public information release report issued by PSP New Castle.
Police identified the victim as Gavin Partridge of Ellwood City, the driver of a 2014 Ford F-150 XLT.
Partridge was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of suspected serious injuries.
According to the police report, the driver of the Ford F-150 truck went off the road near a left-hand curve, going through roadside brush and airborne over a creek before flipping and landing on an embankment.
The driver was able to call 911 himself after the truck came to a rest overlooking a creek, according to Ellwood City Rescue and Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department officials.
Rick Myers with Ellwood City Rescue said the situation was difficult because it required three separate, simultaneous rescues, including a water rescue.
He had to be extracted from the truck and was taken to the hospital with suspected serious injuries.
Medical helicopters were called to the scene but couldn't fly due to the weather.
Pennsylvania State Police are investigating.

She was very positive,” Baker said. “She enjoyed politics and talking about it. She was one of the most intelligent and interesting people I’ve ever met. She always had something to say about any topic. She always had such great insight into all subjects.”
