between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall in the UFC, Rashad Evans admits there’s part of him that actually hopes it never happens the former UFC light heavyweight champion and UFC Hall of Famer loves the fight who is widely considered the greatest fighter of all time with a nearly unblemished record outside of his lone loss Jones essentially sits in a category all his own But Evans explains why as much as he would love to see Jones fight Aspinall he also recognizes the potential downside of that matchup “Here’s the thing I’m kind of torn about it,” Evans told MMA Fighting the fan side of me definitely wants to see it But the other part of me who’s like very impressed with what Jon Jones is able to do want to see him go out on top and not even have to [fight again] There’s always going to be that last dragon to vanquish Part of me can respect him for not taking the fight you better step the f*ck up and beat this boy Part of Jones’ argument against facing Aspinall has largely boiled down to the British heavyweight’s overall resume along with similar concerns that if he wins there’s immediately going to be another challenger waiting in the wings Jones has done more than enough to retire now and his legacy is set in stone but how much does that potentially change if he loses Evans says that’s the other part of his argument against the fight because he knows age eventually catches up to everyone and Jones isn’t immune from getting older “Here’s a thing that’s a sure thing — eventually time will get you,” Evans said Jon has been very blessed inside the octagon and he’s been able to really remain undefeated and look good doing it despite his close fights While Evans was once very close with Jones when they were both training out of Greg Jackson’s gym in New Mexico he hasn’t spoken to his former teammate for quite some time That’s why Evans can’t speak to Jones’ current mentality about fighting or the potential end of his career but he knows it’s really hard for some athletes to walk away when the sport has become their entire identity “I don’t know Jon Jones now and I don’t know if there’s a part of him that needs this in a way,” Evans said “There’s sometimes that you can be in something for so long that it just becomes so much a part of who you are rediscovering yourself in a different frame outside of it is maybe not something that you’re ready to explore and maybe not something you’re ready to give up “I don’t know Jon Jones right now so I don’t know if that’s even a narrative that’s even in his concern.” Evans can speak from personal experience about his own career when he decided it was time to hang up his gloves and he wasn’t sure which direction he was headed without being recognized for fighting any longer It took him a lot of time and soul searching to finally walk a different path and now Evans is resolved in his identity both inside and outside the cage Evans doesn’t know if that’s even a subject that Jones has broached while considering the potential end of his career “I went through literal hell just rediscovering who I was reliving some painful memories and decisions that I made and just a lot of soul searching Some people find it hard to do that and they find themselves soothing themselves with some kind of habit that ends up being a deteriorating factor for them healthwise “I just hope for him that he’s able to make that transition they take on a different complexion when you are no longer a pay-per-view star.” Evans ‘deserved better fate’ in tough loss to RangersPlus Kirby K's 4 in first Minor League rehab startMay 4th ARLINGTON -- isn’t too worried about what the stat line suggests from his second start in the Majors It looks forgettable, as he was charged with six runs on 11 hits with two walks and five strikeouts over five innings in the Mariners’ 8-1 loss to the Rangers on Sunday afternoon Evans didn’t give up much hard contact all day many of which simply found the right holes at the right time in what became a six-run third inning for the Rangers Evans’ other four innings of work were scoreless frames I feel like I could’ve executed a little better with those walks Evans, the Mariners’ No. 10 prospect who joined the rotation when Logan Gilbert landed on the injured list last month navigated around traffic the first two innings Evans issued a one-out walk to Rangers nine-hole hitter Blaine Crim followed by Josh Smith reaching on a popup that landed safely in shallow left third baseman Ben Williamson couldn’t make a play on a sharply hit grounder by Wyatt Langford that loaded the bases Corey Seager drove in two runs with a single to right After Evans got Joc Pederson to line out for the second out the Rangers scored four more on RBI singles by Marcus Semien Evans walked Jonah Heim during that stretch Part of the growth of a young pitcher is figuring out how to minimize damage in innings such as the third manager Dan Wilson felt like Evans made the pitches that could have done just that but just luck wasn’t on his side that inning.” He threw two scoreless innings after the six-run third as the Mariners’ starters have now gone at least five innings in 26 of 33 games “The way he bounced back from that inning was really good,” Wilson said “I thought that was a big learning moment for him and a confidence booster.” The six runs are the most runs Evans has allowed since joining the professional ranks as a 12th-round pick in the 2023 MLB Draft Evans has had a couple of Minor League starts in which he gave up five runs including earlier this season on April 3 when he was pitching for Triple-A Tacoma against Reno But Evans hasn’t endured this type of outing since his college days at the University of PIttsburgh in 2023 even looking at his college stats shows a pitcher who was able to recover nicely after subpar performances Evans plans to keep that trend going in the Majors and not let an outing like Sunday’s linger There were definitely some things that I felt like I could’ve executed a little bit better Latest on KirbyRight-hander (right shoulder inflammation) is officially back on the road to the big leagues making his first rehab start with Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday Kirby allowed one run on a solo home run with four strikeouts over a 42-pitch went 14-11 with a 3.53 ERA in 33 starts last season Wilson addressed Kirby beginning his rehab assignment this weekend saying: “He’s just continuing his progression and we’ll obviously see how those starts start to go.” By Gromer Jeffers Jr.political writer debate over diversity Evans was elected the city’s first Black mayor He jumped out to a strong lead after early voting and predicted his lead would hold Then he thanked Mansfield residents for that the voters of Mansfield said to the partisan world and to the outside world that we can handle our own affairs,” Evans told The Dallas Morning News on Saturday night adding that voters rejected the politics of division A coalition of partisan and conservative groups backed Short including the Tarrant County Republican Party the True Texas Project and the Keep Tarrant County Red political action committee Results: See full election results here Evans, a Mansfield pastor, did not seek the endorsement of the Tarrant County Democratic Party and didn’t fill out the group’s candidate questionnaire. The Lone Star Project, a research group that supports Democrats, backed Evans. Tarrant County Republican Party Chairman Bo French told voters to reject diversity, saying it promoted racism. He urged Mansfield residents to “homogenize around our Constitution and reject this idea that diversity is somehow a strength.” Evans countered that Mansfield, a city once known for its racial strife, was proud of its record of being inclusive and progressive. In 1956, effigies were hung near and atop Mansfield High School to deter three Black students from entering. The district had been ordered to desegregate, and officials didn’t comply until 1965. When voters in 2020 made Evans it’s first elected Black mayor, it helped symbolize how the city had move away from its intolerant past. Mansfield is 15 miles southeast of Fort Worth and 22 miles southwest of Dallas in Tarrant, Johnson and Ellis counties. In the last 25 years the population has exploded. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 28,031 residents lived in Mansfield in 2000. Today there are nearly 90,000 residents. The outcome of Mansfield’s mayoral election has deeper implications. Democrats see it as an opportunity to grow their coalition and make gains in a county largely controlled by Republicans. And with Tarrant County becoming more politically competitive, Republicans can’t afford to have demographic shifts diminish their clout. Evans and Short have agreed on most issues facing the city and voted the same on issues 99% of the time. Evans, who described himself as a centrist, campaigned on continuing Mansfield economic and population growth, which he said would keep taxes low. He supports building a set of convention center hotels, revitalizing downtown and bringing businesses to the city. Short ran on shrinking city government. She said paying money to a rideshare program called the Trinity Metro, as well as partnerships with the Tarrant Area Food Bank, are examples of things Mansfield shouldn’t fund. She said social services should be left to charities and churches, not government. he was a reporter at The Kansas City Star and The Chicago Defender You can catch Gromer every Sunday at 8:30 a.m Mary Beth Evans has played Kayla Johnson off and on the peacock streaming soap opera Days of our Lives for nearly the last 40 years but one of her most precious roles was just reaffirmed: grandmother The actress recently took to Instagram to share a heartwarming photo of her son and her newest grandchild She captioned the photo, “When your baby has a baby #❤️!” Her longtime Days of our Lives co-star Stephen Nichols (Steve “Patch” Johnson) took to the comment section to wish Evans well stating “Oh my ♥️,” while fellow Days of our Lives actors Deidre Hall Brandon Beemer and Tracey Bregman all liked the photo Evans has portrayed the role of Kayla Johnson (formerly Brady) on Days of our Lives since 1986 The part was previously played by Catherine Mary Stewart Evans’ portrayal became a cultural phenomenon with her chemistry with Nichols as Patch and his “Sweetness” navigated life’s challenges together leading to one of daytime television’s most iconic weddings Evans remained on the program for a little over an additional year before exiting herself in 1992 Fourteen years later the actors both returned to the soap opera in 2006 where it was revealed that Nichols’ character had not really died and the two were reunited they have both had short periods of time off of the program but are today still united and acting opposite of each other all these years later Evans’ other soap opera roles include Katherine Bell on General Hospital and its spin-off Port Charles and Sierra Esteban Drake on As the World Turns Evans has won multiple Daytime Emmy Awards for her work on The Bay she has also produced over 98 episodes of The Bay Evans shares three children with her husband Michael Schwartz: Daniel Luke Days of our Lives streams weekdays on Peacock and this has been his high-level play for well over a decade But before we get to the Hall of Fane … many gravitate towards his now-famous streak of 11 seasons of 1,000+ yards which has the six-time Pro Bowler now tied with Hall of Famer Jerry Rice for the most in NFL history It would be fitting, and perhaps consolidate his standing in the game, if Evans managed to again surpass 1,000 yards in 2025 with Baker Mayfield as his quarterback if you are a member of the Mike Evans fan club then what you are about to read might disappoint you when giving his 2025 projections for every player something unthinkable happens when it comes to Evans Clay's Evans 2025 projection: 75 receptions Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans Now, as much as fans want Evans to make it 12 seasons in a row of making 1,000 yards, given the abundance of weapons at Mayfield's disposal and some of the targets that would have been Evans' might go to other players Chris Godwin and Emeka Egbuka loom as the two who will get some targets so there is every chance that Evans might not hit that record-breaking mark in 2025 you will be hard-pressed to find someone who will bet against Evans in 2025 and while Clay thinks under 1,000 yards will happen we aren't willing to bet against the future Hall of Famer Texas — The results weren’t what Logan Evans wanted in his first major-league start on the road an 8-1 loss to the Texas Rangers on Sunday afternoon the 23-year-old said he’ll take away some encouragement from his second big-league start Regardless of the outcome — good or bad — he said he has to maintain a positive mindset There were definitely some things that I felt like I could execute a little bit better But just keep with my Plan A and keep going and attack.” Evans’ pitching line wasn’t pretty — he was tagged for six runs on 11 hits (all singles) — as the Rangers ended the Mariners’ six-game winning streak Manager Dan Wilson suggested Evans was pretty unlucky “I thought Logan pitched a really good ball game today,” Wilson said Throwing the “kitchen sink,” as he calls his vast arsenal and Wilson said he liked the pitch-selection mix And with rotation stalwarts Logan Gilbert (right elbow flexor strain) and George Kirby (shoulder inflammation) still on the injured list Evans does not sound in jeopardy of giving up his rotation spot in the short term Wilson said he appreciated that Evans was able to gather himself after that ugly third inning and get through five innings (on 92 pitches) providing some relief for the Mariners bullpen “That’s a big learning moment for him The Mariners had taken a 1-0 lead off Jacob deGrom in the third inning singled to center field and stole second; J.P Crawford followed with an infield single to move Rivas to third; and Jorge Polanco’s groundout brought in the game’s first run Julio Rodriguez and Cal Raleigh drew back-to-back walks to load the bases with two outs but Randy Arozarena hit into a fielder’s choice to end the threat The Mariners (20-13) had won the first five games of the season against the Rangers (17-18) including the first two games of this series and they’ll head to Sacramento for their first road series in the Athletics’ new park to begin a three-game series Monday Josh Jung led off the third with a hard-hit lineout to Arozarena in left field eight of the next nine Texas batters reached base starting with Evans’ five-pitch walk to the No Josh Smith followed with a blooper into shallow left field — just between shortstop J.P Crawford and Arozarena — and the next batter was credited with an infield single on a bouncing ground ball that ate up rookie third baseman Ben Williamson Corey Seager hit a sharp single to drive in two runs and give the Rangers their first lead of the series “They were able to find some holes,” Wilson said “And sometimes that’s the way the game goes he threw the ball well; he made some good pitches But luck wasn’t on his side in that inning.” Crawford snared a line drive off the bat of Joc Pederson for the second out but Marcus Semien followed with a first-pitch single to drive in another run Evans walked Jonah Heim to load the bases again and Adolis Garcia’s sharp groundball single up the middle drove in two more to make it 5-1 Jung’s soft single made it 6-1 before Evans struck out Crim to finally end the third inning “Sometimes it falls my way; "So I kind of just left it and cast it aside and thought I was happy with where we finished in The Raid 2 so I'm probably not going to do another version The spark for a potential return to the franchise was seemingly reignited by a recent personal reunion with Iko Uwais after a seven-year gap "I hadn't seen Iko in maybe seven years and it was the first time we'd met each other in a long time but this was the first time I'd seen him in a long time because of the nature of how we met and the projects we've done seeing him after the seven-year gap of time I was kind of struck by how much he'd grown how many different experiences he'd had." Expanding on this reunion to JoBlo maybe it is time at some point to reopen that door and consider something I definitely have a concept in mind for it that might happen a little bit further down the line." Even if The Raid 3 doesn't materialize Evans expressed a strong desire to collaborate with Uwais once again on a future project it’ll definitely be something because I’m just chomping at the bit to work with him again and see if I can bring anything that I’ve lived during the time away from him and see what he could bring in the time that he’s been away from me to merge those together on a project that could be exciting to kind of get together again." the rekindled connection between Evans and Uwais offers a small bit of hope for fans eager to see more bone-crunching action from The Raid universe Thanks for visiting The use of software that blocks ads hinders our ability to serve you the content you came here to enjoy We ask that you consider turning off your ad blocker so we can deliver you the best experience possible while you are here and Dalton and great-grandfather to Hayden Ryder and Araina and survived by a host of nieces Richard was also preceded in death by his brother He served 6 years during Vietnam War in the Louisiana National Guard He was an ordained children’s minister with Assembly of God and a licensed electrical contractor who retired from Pellerin Milnor Family and friends are invited to attend his memorial on Friday 2025 at Garden of Memories Funeral Home for 12 noon Inurnment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery In lieu of flowers please donate to Network Ministries All funds received go directly to the outreach mission and ministry to help those in need Online condolences may be offered at www.gardenofmemoriesmetairie.com Here are some of our most read articles that might interest you Women of Excellence has completed the $236 million merger of Evans Bancorp Inc followed by a core systems conversion over the weekend – extended NBT’s branch network into the Western Region of New York with the addition of four locations in the Rochester region and 14 banking offices in the Buffalo area NBT Bank now has 175 branches across its seven-state footprint “We are thrilled to welcome over 200 employees and more than 40,000 customers from Evans Bank into the NBT family as a result of this merger,” NBT President and CEO Scott Kingsley said “Adding the Buffalo and Rochester markets to our service area is a natural extension of our footprint in Upstate New York We look forward to building on the relationships Evans has established with customers communities and shareholders as we focus on continuing to support all stakeholders with a smooth transition.”  Three executives from Evans have assumed leadership positions with NBT Bank Tim Brown is Rochester regional president and Audrey Meyers is senior territory manager for Retail Banking in the Buffalo and Rochester markets Ken Pawlak now serves as president of the Western Region of New York and Buffalo Regional president Later this month following NBT’s Annual Meeting of Stockholders the company will appoint former Evans President and CEO David Nasca to its board of directors consistent with the terms of the merger agreement [email protected] / (585) 653-4021  small business job growth rose slightly in April Five Star Bank announced that its new Rochester regional president is a leader who has been with the bank for [...] has completed its acquisition of Paycor HCM Inc Constellation Brands reported a fourth-quarter loss as well as plans to expand its capacity to produce high-e[...] Standard & Poor's Global Ratings affirmed its BBB+ long-term rating on existing revenue bonds issued for Nazar[...] NBT Bank has entered the Rochester-area market opening a Webster branch in early April — its first branch i[...] Sign up for your daily digest of Rochester News Many employees feel unseen despite recognition programs Learn how to create a culture where all voices are heard and valued [...] Busy executives benefit from personal training to build strength Former NBA player John Wallace promotes mental health awareness through advocacy and community events rooted [...] Nearshoring and reshoring are reshaping U.S the leading source of business news and information in Rochester which covers law and real estate in Western New York one of the country’s leading business-to-business media companies with more than 40 print and digital publications in more than 25 U.S Get our free e-alerts & breaking news notifications Subscribe for access to the latest digital and special editions Click here for information about plaques permissions and reprints of previous editions A handful of Delaware restaurants and a brewery in Glasgow have closed their doors recently Fuego Peri Peri Grill in the Churchmans Plaza shopping center near Christiana Hospital has closed after operating for three years It celebrated flame-grilled Halal chicken flavored with the Portuguese Peri-Peri Pepper A sign posted on the door of the restaurant read: "We are permanently closing from Monday 4/21/25." we are investing in American workers This legislation builds on our commitment to a clean sustainable future that lifts up communities and secures our leadership in the global energy economy.” The legislation follows a series of executive actions by President Donald Trump aimed at reducing the United States' dependence on foreign sources for critical minerals and rare earth elements “Colorado’s 8th District is already home to several innovative battery manufacturers that are leading the way in onshoring supply chains As a strong supporter of American-made products representing these manufacturers I am proud to help introduce this legislation to expand the 45X tax credit and improve incentives for battery manufacturing domestic supply chains we will encourage critical clean energy technologies energy security - all things that will help Coloradans,” said Evans “Battery technology is omnipresent in a variety of applications – including for national defense – and our dependence on the Chinese for critical materials raises vulnerabilities for our combat readiness and economic security,”  said Sam Gillard “This bipartisan legislation will go a long way to creating the resilient supply chain for battery materials in the U.S necessary to allow us to decouple this critical market from Chinese market manipulation.” “This is one of the most promising ways to further reduce our reliance on foreign entities of concern and expand the incentives to invest in a sustainable domestic market across the battery supply chain,” said Drew Ronneberg “Congress should seize upon this sensible approach to ensure America leads rather than follows.” “We extend our sincere gratitude to Congressman Ruiz for his unwavering commitment and dedicated efforts to advancing a robust domestic critical minerals supply chain both in California and across the nation,” said Carmen Rene chief financial officer of EnergySource Minerals “This legislation provides essential security and incentives for projects like ours which are at the forefront of securing a sustainable and abundant supply of American lithium and other critical minerals vital to strengthening our energy infrastructure and national security.” “Imperial County is proud to be at the forefront of Lithium Valley contributing to a more secure and self-reliant American energy future,” said Supervisor John Hawk chair of the Imperial County Board of Supervisors “The BATT SEC Act promotes exactly the kind of private-sector investment we’re working to bring to our region – investment that creates good-paying jobs and reduces our reliance on adversarial nations for critical minerals By encouraging responsible resource development here at home this bill helps position Imperial County as a hub for next generation energy innovation.” Background on the Critical Minerals and Manufacturing Support Act The Imperial County Board of Supervisors has refused to disclose why they fired the CEO and the Clerk of the Board there are no recent results for popular videos Your browser is out of date and potentially vulnerable to security risks. We recommend switching to one of the following browsers: At least with the benefit of hindsight. Instead of drafting Heisman Trophy winner and superstar USC Trojans running back Reggie Bush second overall Bush himself wasn't taken in the first round at all but several other Saints draft picks vaulted to the top of the charts Jahri Evans was picked by the Saints in the fourth round 108 (an experience the Pro Football Hall of Fame finalist uses to encourage other players picked on the draft's final day) PFF has New Orleans taking him second overall: Had the Saints known that Jahri Evans would become one of the best guards in the NFL for a decade they likely would’ve selected him long before the fourth round Evans’ 93.4 PFF overall grade across his first four seasons ranked third among all guards He went on to provide the Saints with stability on the interior through 2016 before playing one season in Green Bay and retiring after the 2017 season there isn't a bigger Jahri Evans respecter than me His success in the NFL is a testament to the value of hard work and getting the right players in the right positions to succeed But drafting a guard at second overall is a little rich for my blood in the wake of Hurricane Katrina and with a fresh-faced coach and nicked-up quarterback coming to town did a lot to energize a Saints fanbase that needed a win Bush got fans to renew their season tickets and get to their seats early on Sundays What Sean Payton and Drew Brees did to opposing teams kept them there So what about the rest of this look back at the 2006 draft? Two more Saints picks ended up going off the board in Round 1, starting with Marques Colston being picked by the Green Bay Packers at fifth overall The Packers were searching for a receiving complement to Donald Driver on the outside Seventh-round pick Marques Colston finished second in the Offensive Rookie of the Year voting in 2006 That was the first of his six 1,000-yard seasons Green Bay would have been thrilled if Colston gave Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers the same production he provided Drew Brees Colston might be the best player in NFL history to never reach the Pro Bowl catching 70 passes for 1,038 yards as a rookie and scoring 8 touchdowns but it's unclear if he'd be as big a hit in Mike McCarthy's Green Bay offense He primarily worked from the slot early on lining up to close to the formation that some fantasy football platforms actually listed him as a tight end in 2006 If the Packers envisioned him as an outside threat opposite Driver (who robbed Colston of his best shot at a Pro Bowl nod in 2007) Roman HarperBut Evans and Colston weren't the only Saints draft picks to end up in this first round. Second-round safety Roman Harper got a boost to join the Carolina Panthers at No The Panthers made a solid original selection in running back DeAngelo Williams who played 11 years in the league as a key part of their backfield Harper joins Carolina even sooner in his career timeline The Panthers’ two starting safeties in 2006 were both no longer the starters a year later Harper made two Pro Bowls in his career and earned a 72.4 PFF overall grade in his first five seasons in New Orleans Harper was an effective starter for years with the Saints playing a key role in the blitz-heavy defense that sent them to Super Bowl XLIV Seeing him spend his career with a division rival would have been painful to say the least it's that DeAngelo Williams wouldn't have landed in Carolina and gone on to rush for more yards against the Saints (1,176) than any other player in franchise history But we'll brush off the what-ifs and be happy with how it turned out The Saints made hay in the 2006 draft and picked six players who went on to play 100-plus games in the pros with several of those picks winning a Super Bowl championship for New Orleans in 2009 It's the type of draft that only comes around once in a generation We didn't see it again for the Saints until 2017 but maybe the 2025 class can follow in their footsteps Duke basketball’s Isaiah Evans is one of 106 players on a list of early entry candidates for the 2025 NBA Draft The NBA released the full list April 29. He missed the entire 2024 season after suffering a torn patellar tendon in Cincinnati's joint practice with the Bears on August 15 Evans worked out for the Texans last week This article first appeared on Cincinnati Bengals on SI and was syndicated with permission customized to your favorite sports and teams SHANNON Sharpe's ex has claimed she was scared for her life after the former NFL star allegedly raped her and then threatened her when she filed a restraining order against him In an exclusive sit-down with The U.S. Sun, one of Sharpe's accusers, Michele Bundy Evans, 53 recounts the allegations she made in a bombshell sexual assault lawsuit WARNING: The graphic details below about an alleged sexual assault may be disturbing to some readers Evans said that she dated the Denver Broncos star turned sportscaster for nearly a decade after she met him while working as a local TV sports reporter in 2002 "We met in the press room at the Broncos, in April of 2002, but we didn't start dating until we met at the club Blue 67 in Denver," she told The U.S. Sun in an interview filmed in her New York City apartment earlier this week "He started pursuing me pretty heavily," she said of their second meeting in the fall of that year Evans claimed she and the First Take star were together a number of years and they had a relatively open relationship that wasn't without its bumps in the road but everything came to a crashing halt in 2010 Evans, who was dating the man who later became her husband and living in Atlanta near the NFL star at that point, said Sharpe was pressuring her to leave her boyfriend. But, she claimed, the football star wasn't being faithful himself.  "We had an argument about the fact that he had removed one girl from his [Atlanta] house and put another girl in his house and he didn't tell me," she said. I was dating Shannon and my husband at the same time." but you want to move somebody into your house and not even tell me So that's what [the argument] stemmed from So I wasn't going to be faithful to a non-faithful person As Evans claimed in a lawsuit she filed on December 20 with the former local sports reporter describing it as the "biggest argument that we ever got in." The ESPN star has denied all the claims because you gave it to somebody else.' I didn't only tell him 'No,' I told him why and he wouldn't take no for an answer visibly shaking and upset as she recalled the alleged incident Evans said she didn't plan to go to the authorities or report the incident to the police "He started coming at me [saying] if I tell anybody you know he'll use everybody he knows to destroy me Evans then repeated claims she also made in her restraining order application from 2010: "He started making other threats "He just was so worried that it would get out and when he kept very aggressively behaving and I could see it wasn't going to go away and he told me he was watching me and all that." Evans had made the same claims and alleged Sharpe "forced [her] to have sex with him; he repeatedly calls and threatens her life; [Sharpe] places [Evans] under surveillance and calls to say he is watching." Evans said that she would soon feel even more threatened than she was before she got the order She believed that Sharpe doxxed her (publically releasing someone's private information with intent to harrass or intimidate them) because her address got out something she also alleged in her 2023 lawsuit 'Shut up f****** b****,' screaming it at the top of their lungs and I had my daughter right there She also claimed she believed there was someone lurking at her home and parked in front of her driveway when her daughter was home alone at around the same time Evans admitted she did not know if these incidents were connected at all to Sharpe The former sports reporter said after those incidents The 53-year-old opened up about why she didn't file a report with the police after the alleged rape claiming she was "scared for my life." She also feared police corruption at the time "Atlanta had a problem with corruption down there and I was too scared to go to the police." Evans said "You're having anxiety and panic attacks and I was worried that he would get a hold of this police officer and who knows what would happen and it's a decision a lot of rape victims make to not go to the police." She added that she expected to be painted by Sharpe's team as some unstable person after everything I've dealt with," she hit out and to see him paint me the way that he did I'm not somebody crawling out of the woodwork to talk about my connection with him like he insinuated in his statement Sharpe's team referenced a statement his attorney "It should be of no surprise that when someone famous is in the news all sorts of people crawl out of the woodwork to share their connection to that person in an attempt to profit from that alleged relationship," it read "In many cases those stories or accusations are nothing more than old news or sometimes blatant misrepresentations of fact." The statement continued: "This is obviously purposeful "This is exactly what is happening to Shannon Sharpe and the resurrection of the case involving Michele Evans is a perfect example Evans became obsessed with Shannon and decided to manufacture a claim against him When she could not find a lawyer to pursue her outrageous story she filed a civil complaint on her own that is completely devoid of merit "The fact is that Shannon has had no contact with this person for many years and it is our understanding that she is still on probation after serving 3 years in prison for trying to kill her husband so that she could hopefully pursue a relationship with Shannon." she claimed Sharpe has publicly falsely alleged that she tried to kill her husband Evans also claimed that the sports personality has repeatedly referenced their legal disputes on television and other public platforms which she says has caused significant harm to her reputation Meanwhile, the embattled sportscaster is also facing a $50 million lawsuit filed by a woman identified as Jane Doe, who alleges that he raped her when she attempted to end their relationship in 2024 According to the lawsuit, filed in Nevada and obtained by The U.S Doe claimed that Sharpe persistently called and texted her demanding that she visit his Beverly Glen mansion Doe stated that the two eventually entered into a consensual relationship but alleged she endured "controlling and verbal abuse" during their time together "He demanded complete control over her time and body expecting her to be at his house on his schedule whenever he called," attorney Tony Buzbee wrote in the lawsuit is widely known for representing more than 20 plaintiffs who accused NFL quarterback Deshaun Watson of sexual assault in 2021 Sharpe has strongly denied Doe's allegations with his legal team labeling the lawsuit "an egregious attempt at blackmail." He stepped away from his role at ESPN last week stating that he plans to return at the start of the NFL preseason As The U.S. Sun exclusively revealed earlier this week, Sharpe was arrested at least twice for domestic battery got into an altercation with a woman at his Atlanta home in January 1995 A police spokesperson said at the time: "Each said they were hit by the other." the famed sportscaster found himself facing similar charges with another woman inside his Atlanta home A Fulton County Clerk confirmed to The U.S Sun that Sharpe was charged with simple battery on July 22 That case was eventually settled in mediation If you or someone you know is affected by any of the issues raised in this story call the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-4673 Michele Bundy Evans opened up about her arrest and incarceration after a domestic violence incident with her husband In her defamation lawsuit against Shannon Sharpe Michele Bundy Evans detailed her arrest and subsequent incarceration for a domestic incident involving her husband She said she and her husband were in an altercation in which he was on the hood of a car and that she was behind the wheel and she drove the car and hit another vehicle She admitted her husband was hurt in the incident but she insisted she did not try to kill him which is a Class B felony after the incident Michele served a year and a half at Rikers Correctional Facility in New York City before being transferred to Bedford Hills Correctional Facility where she served a year and a half As part of her suit against Sharpe she alleged he had publicly falsely claimed she tried to kill her husband Sharpe's legal team has said in a statement: "The fact is that Shannon has had no contact with this person for many years and it is our understanding that she is still on probation after serving 3 years in prison for trying to kill her husband so that she could hopefully pursue a relationship with Shannon." Sun: "I did not try to kill my husband I was neither indicted nor went to prison for attempted murder I took a plea for assault because I was in an impossible situation "Not only was his statement malicious and egregious towards me making him and everyone else think his wife was going to leave/hurt him for another man," the statement concluded Evans said she has since donated her time to be an advocate for conditions at Rikers, including taking part in the Rikers Public Memory Project and donating sculptures to the cause Monday - Friday 9am-12pm / 2pm-6pm GMT + 1 All financial news and data tailored to specific country editions Dawn was the daughter of the late William Evans and Angela DeBrizzi She graduated from Central High School in Bridgeport in 1976 and was a proud Naugatuck resident for many years She is survived by her children and step children: Michael Messina and his fiancee Emma Gorton; Scott Messina and his wife Kristi; Christopher Gombos; Nicholas Gombos; Richard Gombos Jr and his wife Maritza Danielle Gombos and her husband Justin; and Jillian Breiner She was proudly known as “Nonnie,” to her grandchildren: Jacob Dawn found her greatest joy in life as her role as Nonnie always putting her heart into every moment spent with her grandchildren coming up with funny nicknames for all the kids She was a funny and kind person who would proudly talk about her family to anyone who would listen Arrangements – Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 6 pm at the Buckmiller Ford Mengacci Funeral Home Enter your phone number above to have directions sent via text Stories you've missed since your last login: Recommended stories based on your interests: talks about flipping Colorado's 8th Congressional District by narrowly defeating Democrat Yadira Caraveo at a press conference on Nov President Donald Trump on Monday endorsed U.S the first-term Republican in Colorado's most competitive congressional seat "Congressman Gabe Evans is an America First Patriot who is doing a fantastic job representing Colorado's 8th Congressional District!" Trump said in a post on the Truth Social site "A decorated Army Helicopter Pilot and former Police Officer Gabe has served our Nation with Great Honor and Distinction Added Trump: "Gabe Evans has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election — HE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN!" Trump's endorsement came on the eve of his 100th day in office a traditional milestone marking the end of a new administration's "honeymoon" period Trump also endorsed four other GOP incumbents who represent targeted House districts on Monday: Arizona Rep It's the second time Trump has endorsed Evans the former state lawmaker who unseated Democratic U.S Yadira Caraveo last November in the closely divided district which stretches from Adams County suburbs north of Denver to Greeley in Weld County Weeks before last summer's primary — after the Colorado Republican Party had formally endorsed Evans' primary opponent R-Colorado Springs — Trump endorsed Evans in a similarly worded statement predicting that Evans would be "an INCREDIBLE fighter in Congress." The 8th CD, the state's newest congressional district, is rated as a tossup by national election analysts and is being targeted by both major parties ahead of next year's midterm elections Evans welcomed Trump's endorsement in a post on social media "Thank you Mr. President!" Evans said on X "I am dialed in on making sure our community is free of criminal illegal immigrant gangs and making Colorado a safer place to live Proud to be fighting for #CO08 in Congress." Colorado Democratic Party Chair Shad Murib told Colorado Politics that Evans had earned Trump's endorsement by falling in line with the Republican's agenda A spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee applauded Trump's endorsement in a release “President Trump’s powerful endorsement adds to Representative Gabe Evans's growing momentum for 2026," said Zach Bannon in a statement "Representative Evans has been hard at work and lower costs for Coloradans — and he's not letting up.” When Brita Horn took over as chair of the Colorado Republican Party after winning a vote at a state GOP meeting late last month Colorado Politics is published both in print and online Our website features subscriber-only news stories daily designed for public policy arena professionals Member subscribers also receive the weekly print edition of our award-winning newspaper containing outstanding features and news stories Secure your subscription to Colorado’s premier political news journal You can be in the know right alongside Colorado’s political insiders 2025 at 12:30pm surrounded by his loving family Stephen ("Bear") was a native of Bogalusa Family and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation on Monday 2025 from 9:00am until service time at Maria Immacolata Catholic Church in Houma A Mass of Christian Burial will begin on Monday 2025 at 11:00am at Maria Immacolata Church Services will conclude at the conclusion of our Mass with burial taking place privately at a later date Bear is survived by his loving family; his parents Steve and Terry Evans; maternal grandmother Lauren Skinner and Bear Evans III; siblings Sunny Downer and husband Blair; loving neices and nephews Bear is preceded in passing by Maternal Grandfather Joseph Earl Masoner; Paternal Grandparents Bear enjoyed spending time with family and friends and would extend everyone's stay by adding charcoal to the grill multiple times before putting anything on it He loved the outdoors and was always in for a game of golf He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed everyday Bear loved to travel and never turned down an invite to a trip and golfing at Pebble Beach were some of his favorite adventures He was always the life of the party on these trips and kept everyone laughing the entire time He went wheels up for his last trip on April 8th 2025 where he will be traveling to the Highest Mountain to reunite with family, friends and surely some strangers that will become his new friends Chauvin Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Stephen "Bear" Evans Jr Branche said deputies arrested Desmond Hargrove close to his home The sheriff's office told WRAL News the two were dating Branche called the shooting is a domestic violence situation "She loved animals," Silver said of her late daughter Silver said she planned to fix up a car as a gift to her daughter "I hate that her life ended so [quickly]," Silver said Hargrove has a history of violence against women he pleaded guilty to assault on a female in Edgecombe County "It's crazy because she really cared about him," Silver said Evans is not the only member of her family to lose her life to domestic violence Tyrone Evans' aunt was killed 22 years ago "She was in a relationship with a guy and she was going to marry him and he stabbed her 27 times," Tyrone Evans said "We just went through this in 2003 with my aunt but we didn't think it was going to happen to my daughter."
