Fairwood Brands is comprised of eight companies located throughout the country that provide premium residential design/build and maintenance services
Founded in 2022 as a parent company to help five established landscape companies thrive, Fairwood Brands was developed by Crane Group
McRae says Crane Group acquired the five landscape companies in distinct geographic markets from across the country
choosing companies that fit within their specialized space of luxury outdoor living services
“We have since grown to a family of eight brands
creating and maintaining premium outdoor spaces with gold-standard customer service,” McRae says
Fairwood looks for existing landscape companies that have consistently delivered results with revenue of $10 million to $30 million
are known for designing and building luxury outdoor living spaces and have management teams that want to stay in the business
“We partner closely with them to provide back-end support
financial and operational process improvement
legal support and marketing capabilities,” McRae says
“My job is to provide the brands with strategic direction and unwavering support.”
“Each brand has employed different strategies to drive organic growth in their respective markets,” McRae says
These landscape companies benefit from building peer-to-peer relationships with others within Fairwood Brands
They are also partnering with a family-owned company in Crane that has 75 years of operating experience
which provides them with access to flexible capital and extensive business expertise
While Fairwood Brands has experienced large-scale growth since the company started
McRae says it all comes back to the small things
like honing in on their services and people
Investing in people and offerings has paid dividends
and McRae encourages other professionals to do the same within their companies
“I would advise them to find a niche within this large and broad industry and focus intensely on people — your employees and customers,” McRae says
McRae says the support Fairwood Brands receives from Crane Group and the working relationships the companies have developed will continue to play a large role in their success
housing market and overall wealth position of our country should offer tailwinds for some time,” McRae says

there’s still an outcry for King County to make the intersection at 140th Avenue SE and SE 192nd Street safer for all
12-year-old Eloise Wilcoxson and 12-year-old Boyd Buster Brown
Someone placed signs at the memorial site this week that read
“Let your light BEAM.” The letters in BEAM stand for Buster
I couldn't even imagine it's a year later
and it still affects me,” Jacqueline Robertson told KOMO News
who’s been pushing for safer roads for more than 25 years
is still fighting just as hard today as she last year for the county to install all possible measures to slow drivers to avoid the loss of any more lives
was considered a hot spot several years ago,” she said
Robertson said just in the last month or so
the county installed traffic barriers in the left turn lane on 140th Avenue SE
approaching the intersection with SE 192nd Street
The speed limit was also lowered from 40 to 35 mph
“The only way to decrease the speed is to add physical calming measures
not plastic calming measures,” Robertson said
She’s been asking the county to install cement medians to serve as speed reduction measures
The only way to decrease the speed is to add physical calming measures
KOMO News asked King County and the Target Zero task force exactly what safety measures they studied
Target Zero responded that a study identified the area as a “critical zone due to problematic driving behaviors,” with several crashes caused by speed and impairment
Target Zero secured a $125,000 grant to help reduce speeding
but said that money cannot be used for any engineering or mechanical updates

One more "end of an era" announcement on yet another favorite eating and gathering spot
The last Shakey’s Pizza in western Washington is shutting down on Monday
As soon as word about this closure hit the streets
people lining up long before the door would open
to wait for the restaurant to open at 2:00 pm Friday afternoon
“We’ve loved Shakey's since we were kids,” Sharon Berend told KOMO
when asked what the restaurant’s meant to her
Berend was there Friday afternoon with a table full of friends she met while working at Pietro’s Pizza in Federal Way
Shari Taylor said they often hung out at the Shakey’s and ‘traded pizzas back and forth.”
she said found their spouses in that group
I couldn’t believe it was actually closing because it’s the last one in our area,” said Taylor
Berend’s husband recalled how Shakey’s often sponsored sports teams and really supported the local community
“We would go out and have a family event and say OK we’ll meet you here
It was just an automatic,” Brian Berend told KOMO
“My favorite was when adults would come up with the little kids and say this is where daddy came every Friday night,” Lori Bender
the owner of the Renton Shakey's told KOMO News
She explained that she bought the store nine years ago
so one employee allowed small groups of people in at time to better handle the crowds
Others got customers moving quickly through the line to order
filling drink orders or refilling the salad bar
Bender told KOMO they still hand-roll all their dough
“We spent 24 hours rolling dough and we sold out in five hours,” Bender explained
the restaurant ran out of chicken less than two hours after opening
the employee who had been slowly letting customers in all afternoon
I did not anticipate this much reaction,” Bender said
explaining that customers in the final days have come from Oregon
that this is still their Friday night date,” Bender said
She told KOMO that her 38 great employees really support her in her desire to retire
but like I said I’ve been so blessed in my staff
they recognized that it was getting tough on me
They recognized that so they’re happy for me to get to retire,” Bender said
mostly high school and college students are so good
she's sure they'll all find new jobs
“Shakey’s taught me that pizza was supposed to take a long time to bake and should be served with soda in a red plastic cup
I recall it being really great pizza though
the Renton location served as a gathering place for decades
eating and gathering at Shakey’s Pizza locations in Mt
One woman said she loved working at Shakey’s
“We’d have groups come in (and) the kids to watch through the window as we made pizzas
And blowing up those balloons and putting the feet on the bottom of them for birthday parties
I miss the place when it was what it was way back when.”
Others shared stories of relatives making the trek to eat there or making it their first stop
after landing at Sea-Tac International Airport
I am 58 and went to the Shakey's in Puyallup from the time I was 5 years old (had my 5th birthday party there) til they shut it down when my kids were young.”
In addition to the one store left in Washington
there are still Shakey’s located in California
A local, now living in Tokyo, even added a photo of himself in front of that location, to that Facebook discussion going on over the Renton store closing

Volunteers from Swansea City AFC Foundation’s Premier League Kicks programme have gained an insight into the different career pathways in football by going behind the scenes at Swansea City’s First Team training ground
Swansea City first-team kit managers Michael Eames and Shaun Baggridge welcomed the volunteers to Fairwood
where they gave them a tour of the facilities before having a go at some of their daily tasks
Caretaker head coach Alan Sheehan also took the time to speak to the Foundation’s volunteers
explaining the importance of every employee in the building and how they can help the players and coaching staff
Swansea City AFC Foundation aim to inspire their volunteers by opening doors to different opportunities
with this unique experience enhancing participants knowledge of the wide range of jobs available in sport
“They’ve each printed a shirt with Zan Vipotnik’s name on the back,” said Eames
“They have cleaned boots with Shaun and been with Emma to do some laundry
and we’ve all explained to them what we do on a daily basis
“There’s a lot of things that go into football games which people don’t see
We had a conversation with the head coach today
and he explained how all the different departments and people who have come from the community help him
“Myself and Shaun come from Swansea and were in the same position as these guys around 20 years ago
and it’s an experience that not everyone can have so it’s great to show them the other side of football.”
Jesse Ormond began volunteering for the Foundation in September 2023
having initially been a participant at the Premier League Kicks sessions in Pembroke
and admitted that he had never realised how many different roles there are within a football club
“There’s so many layers to it that I had never thought about
It’s a lot of work but it’s really cool,” added Ormond
“The shirt printing was fun and I think these facilities are amazing
We went into the players’ changing area and the hydro part with the pool
which has been really interesting to see.”

King County is working to improve traffic safety in Fairwood
including along a road where a multivehicle crash killed four people and injured four others in March
traffic engineers and the King County Sheriff’s Office
the county is focusing projects on 140th Avenue Southeast and Southeast Petrovitsky Road
The March crash that killed a 38-year-old woman
a 12-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy was at the intersection of 140th Avenue Southeast and Southeast 192nd Street
King County prosecutors charged Chase Daniel Jones
two counts of vehicular assault and reckless driving in relation to the crash
Crash data from Jones’ car showed he was going 112 mph at full throttle through the intersection
The posted speed limit on the road is 40 mph
The crash marked the first serious collision at the intersection this year, according to data shared online by the Washington State Department of Transportation
There were two nonfatal crashes at the intersection last year
The county has made several short-term improvements to the area
two permanent radar speed signs were installed on 140th Avenue Southeast
near the intersections of Southeast 186th and Southeast 181st streets
Four “smart signs,” which display a warning after certain unsafe driver behaviors are detected
are rotating among 12 sites in King County
Smart signs were installed on 140th Avenue Southeast in June
Traffic engineers changed the traffic-light timing at the intersection of 140th Avenue Southeast and Southeast 192nd Street to increase the amount of “green” time allowed in the left-turn lane. This change helps prevent drivers from speeding up to catch the light
the county will reduce the speed limit from 40 to 35 mph along 140th Avenue Southeast (from Southeast 192nd Street to the Renton city limits at Southeast 158th Street)
Public comment gathered over the summer supported this reduction
At the intersection of 140th Avenue Southeast and Southeast 192nd Street
traffic engineers will remove the flashing left-turn arrow for north and southbound traffic in the afternoons
Removing the flashing arrow during busy times prevents drivers from misjudging the time available to turn
The county will also install traffic-calming pylons in the center turn lane at 11 sites along 140th Avenue Southeast (from Southeast Petrovitsky Road to Southeast 192nd Street)
These pylons will prevent drivers from using the center lane to pass slower traffic in the main travel lanes
The county will also place pylons at eight sites in the center median of Southeast Petrovitsky Road (east of 151st Avenue Southeast) and at one site west of 140th Avenue Southeast
The center median is not used as a turn lane
but the county hopes the pylons will act as visual reminders to slow down
the county will also add five more speed radar signs along 140th Avenue Southeast and Southeast Petrovitsky Road
Two additional speed limit signs may be installed on Southeast Petrovitsky Road
By the end of the year, the King County executive will submit the final traffic safety study
which followed the fatal March crash, to the Metropolitan King County Council. The study looks at options to improve road safety on 140th Avenue Southeast and on Southeast Petrovitsky Road

By including everything from R&D to manufacturing
Fairwood’s InnoPark location allows the dining giant to centralise its production into a self-sufficient operation that transforms its research into enjoyable dining experiences with maximum efficiency

which means manufacturing using statistics not only from our own factories but also from our branches
We analyse this information and instantly grasp what the market is like at that given moment.” This undying innovative spirit is the key ingredient of Fairwood’s beloved menu

— A copper thief caused so much damage trying to strip away metal at the Fairwood Library in Renton that the facility is now closed indefinitely while the search for parts begins and repairs get underway
Investigators said the vandal entered a secure area behind the library where the HVAC system is located on June 26
The copper refrigerant lines were yanked out of the equipment
ventilation and air conditioning system inoperable
which is located at 17009 140th Ave SE in Renton
A maintenance person with the King County Library System who was outside the closed building on Wednesday said he expected it would take three or four months before the HVAC equipment would be restored
the public is being told to visit other locations for library services
people were showing up to find signs posted on the doors about the closure
Several people said the library is a critical resource for students who just wrapped up the school year
They worried the vandalism will prevent students and others from having access to the facility throughout the summer break
Investigators said they collected evidence at the crime scene
but at this point they have not identified a potential suspect
the Fairwood Library was the scene of some controversy when protesters showed up for a drag queen story hour
Supporters made a tunnel as children and parents came out of the event to find protesters waiting outside
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Two elementary school students were sent to the hospital on Tuesday after eating marijuana gummies at a Columbus City School
The district told WSYX the gummies came from another student at the school
the district said the two students got sick and were immediately seen by the school nurse
"The nurse determined that additional treatment was necessary and the parents of the affected students were promptly notified," Fairwood Elementary Principal Stacy Harris-Macarthy wrote in a letter sent to parents on Wednesday
The district said both students were taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital and are feeling better
but a Fairwood Elementary school teacher is sharing their concerns with WSYX
"A kid offered what she called candy to other children who took it and it was drugs and they got very ill," said the teacher who asked to remain anonymous
The teacher is calling for action against the student who brought the gummies to school
"I think anytime drugs are involved that a consequence
should be an option," the teacher said
WSYX asked the district if any disciplinary action would be taken
"The school administrator will take the appropriate counseling and disciplinary action."
The district also said the school reported the incident to Franklin County Children's Services
WSYX requested information from the Columbus police about the incident
"The narcotics detectives are still in the investigative stage of this case
We don’t have any updates that we can provide at this time."
Five students went to the hospital in that incident
the principal also encouraged parents to talk with their students about appropriate items to bring to school and not eating anything given to them by another student
"Consuming an unknown substance can be dangerous and potentially life-threatening," the letter said
"It's important to emphasize the risks associated with consuming anything they did not bring from home
A doctor at Nationwide Children's described the dangers of young children ingesting marijuana gummies
"Over half of kids with unintentional marijuana ingestion do need to stay in the hospital or get admitted and a portion of those do need to go to the critical care unit,"Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician At Nationwide Children’s Hospital Leah Middelberg said
Middelberg said treatment would vary depending on the child and how much they ingested and a child's symptoms can be different too
"Slightly altered behavior or it can be a little drowsy or sleepy
It may not be known what the problem is until they come in to us."
She said it's not known the long-term impacts a child could face after eating marijuana gummies
"There aren’t many studies looking at long-term effects of these drugs on children," she said
The most important thing for parents is to keep these out of reach for kids
Keep it away from other food products because they can look really appealing to kids."

Ohio (WSYX) — No students on a Columbus City Schools bus were injured when another driver ran a red light Friday

and other students transferred to another bus
Columbus police said one person was taken to Grant Medical Center
Proposals for a controversial 216-home development have been narrowly turned down by councillors despite their planning department recommending it for approval
Several members of Swansea council’s planning committee were unhappy with the proposed access in Gowerton from the busy Fairwood Terrace-Victoria Road junction and the impact of extra traffic on an already congested road network
affordable housing provision and land stability concerns were also expressed
The committee voted by five to four to reject the outline application by Persimmon Homes and Urban Style Land Ltd
and it will meet again to agree reasons for refusal which the council must be able to defend should there be an appeal
A total of 881 letters were submitted to the planning department objecting to the application
saying it already had 20,080 patients and would struggle to cope with any more
Dozens of objectors with placards gathered at Fairwood Terrace when committee members visited the site on the morning of September 3
The meeting that afternoon heard from a planning officer who said the development would include a park and ride hub with 50 parking spaces and 100-odd bike spaces to serve the adjacent Gowerton railway station
traffic lights at the Fairwood Terrace-Victoria Road T-junction
and a new pedestrian crossing on both roads
He said the planned estate of 67 flats and 149 two
three and four-bedroom houses – 22 of which would be affordable – would have some commercial units and new greenery although many existing trees would be lost
No statutory consultees such as Natural Resources Wales or the Coal Authority
Photos were shown of Fairwood Terrace on different days at different times with relatively few parked cars
An objector addressed the committee to say Victoria Road would not be able to accommodate extra traffic from a 216-home development and that
the benefits of cycling and walking and home-working had been “overstated”
He said some parts of the land in question were predicted to flood to depths of two metres
A small section at the far eastern end of the site was shown to have a flood risk but the committee was told that houses wouldn’t be built there
A planning agent on behalf of the applicants said the “zero carbon” houses and flats wouldn’t need gas for heating and that Persimmon Homes would build the park and ride hub and set up a car-sharing club
had been “extensive and exhaustive” resulting in “safe
efficient and realistically achievable” proposals
Gowerton councillors Dai Jenkins and Susan Jones spoke against the plans
saying the Victoria Road railway bridge near the junction with Fairwood Terrace was frequently hit by lorries
that the estate should include a 20% affordable housing provision rather than the 10.2% outlined in the planning report
and that two recent house-building projects in Gowerton had reduced the overall amount of green space
who represents a ward in Gower but has lived in Gowerton since the age of 11
said traffic should be reduced in the community not increased
when they think about Gowerton and travelling to Gowerton from any direction
one word comes to mind – gridlock,” he said
The 21-acre site is part of a much larger chunk of land stretching east which has been allocated for residential and employment use
The committee heard that the bigger section
would include a new road leading to a large park and ride hub by the train station
but that only buses would be able to connect through to the smaller Fairwood Terrace estate
Cllr Peter Black said he believed Fairwood Terrace was unsuitable as an access point for the 216-home scheme and that he was “appalled” by the loss of the wooded site
despite some trees being part of the project
“Yes we do need houses but it seems to me that this is not an appropriate place,” he said
Cllr Mike Lewis asked why the affordable housing allocation was 10.2% while Cllr Mary Jones said she was very concerned about potential river flooding and the presence of former mine workings
The planning officer said new trees would be planted at the estate and also on separate land under the applicants’ control
He added that ideally 20% of the homes should be affordable but that the applicants had demonstrated “abnormal” development costs
he said: “We all accept that traffic in Gowerton can be bad – there’s no getting away from it
But adding time to journeys does not necessarily equate to a safety issue.” Another officer said an air quality assessment and modelling by the applicants complied with the guidance
and that nitrogen dioxide monitoring by the council did not show annual breaches

As a resident of Gowerton who is opposed to this development
I joined the on-line meeting of the Plannjng Committee
The report above is a very good summary of proceedings
it does not reflect the way in which the Planning officers are determined to get this application approved and some of the deceitful information they presented to do so
The population of Gowerton has increased from around 500 in the 1960’s to over 5000 today
and with no improvements to the roads that connect with Kingsbridge
Unyet the Planning officers are quite happy to add… Read more »

a new home is now needed as The Fairwood 226 is closing. This is the QC's "official" Buffalo Bills game watching spot. There's nothing like watching a game at a "team bar." Last weekend
I have a good friend and NC State grad whose ACC Championship winning game watching experience was made all the better by being surrounded by fellow Wolfpack faithful at Caswell Station (bigtime NC State bar)

that's a regular Sunday thing there. The Fairwood 226 has been that spot of mutual fellowship for Buffalo Bills fans in the Charlotte area
and now it is closing. A couple of New Yorkers opened the rooftop bar and restaurant four years ago by a couple of New Yorkers with the express purpose of being a spot for fellow "refugees" to watch the Bills
