Allen was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2024 season
Seeing my dad wake up super early when the sun wasn’t even out and then coming home when the sun was set
he worked his tail off to provide for our family and did a great job
Allen racked up 3,203 passing yards with 28 touchdowns
He then helped Wyoming win the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in 2017 and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player
On the eve of the 2018 NFL draft, Allen, a potential number one overall draft pick, was ensnared in a controversy when offensive posts he had made on Twitter (now X) while in high school came to light
In several of the posts Allen had used the n-word
telling ESPN he was “young and dumb” when he made the racist comments
Allen was ultimately chosen as the seventh overall pick by the Bills
Allen got off to a slow start with Buffalo
largely because of his long-standing struggle with accuracy
In his first two seasons he ranked last in the NFL in completion percentage
connecting on just 52.8 percent of his passes in his rookie season and 58.8 percent in 2019
in the latter season he doubled his touchdown passes (20) as the Bills made the postseason but lost in the wild-card round
Allen completed 21 of 25 passes for a total of 308 yards and 5 touchdowns
He also ran for 66 yards on just 6 carries
The Bills scored a touchdown on all seven possessions
Buffalo was the first team in league history to play a postseason game without punting
the Chiefs knocked them out of the playoffs again
The Bills lost both of their leading wide receivers in the offseason, but under Allen’s steady leadership—he threw a career-low six interceptions—the team finished 13–4 and captured its fifth straight division title. In the playoffs Buffalo returned to the conference championship
but the Chiefs emerged victorious once again
In February 2025 Allen was voted MVP of the 2024 season

(FOX26) — Police arrested a woman following a domestic dispute at the rodeo grounds in Firebaugh
The Firebaugh Police Department responded to the report of an argument at the rodeo grounds that escalated into a dangerous confrontation Tuesday morning
When officers arrived they saw a Hyundai speeding away and recognized the driver from previous encounters
Police followed the woman while other officers spoke with one of the victims
[TRENDING]Hit-and-run caught on camera on Highway 41 in Fresno
later identified as 42-year-old Essence Poe
was involved in a heated argument with a man when she pulled a handgun and pointed it at both the victim and her ex-boyfriend
They said Poe tried to fire the weapon but it jammed twice
She was about to shoot the gun into the air and then concealed it as law enforcement approached
Officers located a loaded 9mm Beretta handgun hidden inside a nearby tree stump
Police officers stopped Poe and took her into custody
She was booked into Fresno County Jail on multiple felony charges
They said her ex-boyfriend involved in the dispute was uncooperative with the investigation
“If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic violence

“Please don’t hesitate to reach out to the police department or support services."
2025Firebaugh native and NFL MVP Josh Allen is reportedly getting a record-setting six-year
$330 million contract that includes $250 million guaranteed.BUFFALO
-- The Bills have rewarded NFL MVP Josh Allen with a record-setting six-year
$330 million contract through the 2030 season that includes $250 million guaranteed
sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Sunday
It's the largest guaranteed total given to an NFL player
surpassing the previous mark of Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson
will be 34 years old when the final year of this extension begins
The extension takes Allen from the 14th-highest average annual value among quarterbacks ($43 million) to tied for second ($55 million)
Only Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has a contract with a higher average annual value ($60 million)
"I love Josh and so proud of what he's done
I could be here all day talking about how great he is and what he's done for our team and where he belongs in the pecking order of all that stuff," general manager Brandon Beane said at the end of the 2024 season
before we're ever really talking to his agent or his agents calling me
Josh and I will have those conversations [about a potential extension]
Allen became the first player in NFL history to record at least 25 touchdown passes and 10 touchdown runs with fewer than 10 interceptions in a season
Allen has accounted for 260 touchdowns in his career via passing or rushing
the most in a player's first seven seasons in NFL history and 29 more than the next-closest player in Patrick Mahomes
Improving turnovers was a focal point for Allen heading into the 2024 season
and he responded with the lowest amount in a season for his career (eight)
That went a long way toward the Bills' success as they won their fifth consecutive AFC East title
Allen also took a step forward in leadership in 2024
was the biggest reason why we did what we did this season
I know better," coach Sean McDermott said at the end of the season
and him now doing that every season for us
Allen's play and leadership "went hand in hand," McDermott said
we're going to win a lot of football games."
Allen became the team's third player to be voted MVP
Allen has 65 rushing touchdowns -- 10 more than the next closest quarterback (Jalen Hurts)
Allen has accounted for at least 40 touchdowns (passing or rushing) in five straight seasons
No other player has done that in four straight seasons
and only Aaron Rodgers has had more such seasons (six)
as coordinator Joe Brady enters his second full season in the role
Allen is coming off his second AFC Championship appearance and going into his eighth season looking for his first Super Bowl appearance after going 0-4 against the Kansas City Chiefs and Mahomes in the postseason
"We're going to continue to turn every stone over and cross the T's
dot the I's and do whatever we can to try to bring a Lombardi back here to Western New York," Allen said at the end of the season
The extension tops a slew of recent new deals for Buffalo players: defensive end Greg Rousseau reached a four-year
$80 million contract; linebacker Terrel Bernard got a four-year
$50 million contract; and receiver Khalil Shakir agreed to a four-year
the 2018 seventh overall pick out of Wyoming
became the first player in 21 seasons to win MVP without being selected first-team All-Pro
the only other players to win the award despite not being a first-team All-Pro were Broncos quarterback John Elway (1987
when Joe Montana was first-team All-Pro) and Titans quarterback Steve McNair (2003

Olam's garlic plant in Firebaugh could close — temporarily or permanently — come Aug

The story also clarifies the plant would close by December 2024
Olam America will begin closing operations at its Firebaugh spice plant and warehouse by Aug
according to a notice posted with the state Employment Development Department
The facility is the former De Francesco dehydrating plant purchased by Olam in 2009
The closure is permanent and 275 workers will be laid off
Firebaugh City Manager Ben Gallegos says the Olam plant manager has told him the closure is temporary and the Western Fresno County food processor would close only for a year and then reopen
was to clear a surplus of ingredients that has built up
The plants owners clarified on Tuesday the closure will be permanent

(AP) — Central California native and NFL MVP Josh Allen was rewarded Sunday with a contract extension worth $330 million
including an NFL record $250 million of it guaranteed
which makes him among the league’s highest-paid players
while two people with knowledge of the deal revealed the contract's value to The Associated Press
The people spoke to the AP on the condition of anonymity because the Bills did not release that figure
The new deal adds two years to Allen’s contract and locks the 28-year-old in through the 2030 season
Cleveland quarterback DeShaun Watson's five-year contract signed in 2022 set the previous record in featuring $230 million in guarantees
The total value of Allen's new contract ranks second behind Kansas City's Patrick Mahomes
Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott tops the NFL list in averaging $60 million per season after signing a four-year
$240 million contract extension last summer
Allen's new contract follows his seventh NFL season in which he became the Bills third player to earn NFL MVP
and first since running back Thurman Thomas did so in 1991
The new deal eclipses Allen’s previous contract
a six-year $258 million deal he signed with Buffalo in August 2021
Allen has established himself as one of the league’s elite quarterbacks and rewritten nearly every franchise single-season passing and scoring record at his position
he’s overcome the many questions and criticisms he faced for being considered a raw and inaccurate player when Buffalo selected him with the No
Allen has solidified what had been an unsettled position in Buffalo since Hall of Famer Jim Kelly retired following the 1996 season
The Bills under Allen have won five consecutive AFC East titles and are on a six-year playoff run
Allen’s MVP honor came during a season in which he essentially did more with what was considered less receiving talent around him
Buffalo ran away with the AFC East by clinching the division with five games still left in a 13-win season and after the team traded top receiving option Stefon Diggs to Houston and lost No
Though Allen failed to top 4,000 yards for the first time since 2019
the quarterback enjoyed his most efficient season with a career-low six interceptions
scored another 12 rushing and was credited with a touchdown receiving after completing a pass to Amari Cooper
who then lateralled the ball back to the quarterback
The only thing missing for Allen is a Super Bowl appearance
The Bills have reached the AFC championship game in 2020 and this past season only to lose both times to Kansas City
The new deal also follows a significant development in Allen’s personal life
The quarterback proposed to actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld during the team’s bye week in mid-November
Their relationship began in the spring of 2023
when pictures emerged of the two having dinner in New York City
Allen credited Steinfeld for playing a major supporting role in his career development
She’s just the best,” Allen told the AP in December
The new contract is also expected to provide Buffalo much-needed savings under the salary cap entering the league’s new business year
The team was projected to be close to the cap limit after releasing veteran edge rusher Von Miller earlier in the day
And the deal follows GM Brandon Beane spending the past weeks locking in the young core of the team by signing fourth-year edge rusher Greg Rousseau and third-year players linebacker Terrel Bernard and receiver Khalil Shakir to four-year contract extensions
262 total touchdowns and 30,595 total yards are the most by any NFL player through their first seven seasons in the league
Allen holds the top two single-season passing yards records topped by his 4,544 in 2020 and last season he passed Kelly for most total touchdowns with 262
Among the single-season team records he holds are most TD passes (37 in 2020)
best completion rate (69.2 percent in 2020)

MIDDLE FORK – A woman was arrested in Magoffin County last Wednesday on an arrest warrant out of Madison County that accuses her of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old child
on an arrest warrant from the Madison County Sheriff’s Department
According to the arrest warrant that had been issued on July 12
Madison County Sheriff Department’s Donovan Nolan states that on June 12
a social services worker responded to a home in Madison County to investigate an allegation of neglect against Firebaugh
When the social services worker interviewed an 11 year old
the child said that Firebaugh would use vibrators on herself while the child was in the bed with her
and that she would pull down the child’s pants to look at the genitals while doing so
The 11 year old told a Child Advocacy Center that the child did not feel safe with Firebaugh and did not like when she would masturbate while in the bed with the child
noting this occurred at least four times in the past year
Police searched the residence and found the vibrators in the location described by the child
The warrant also states that writings were sent to police from social workers in which Firebaugh reportedly described the child victim as “the Antichrist.”
Police transported Firebaugh to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center
and she was later transferred to the Madison County Detention Center
She is currently facing the charge of first-degree sexual abuse
Firebaugh has a preliminary hearing in her felony case in Madison County on July 31 at 9:30 a.m
her bond is set at $50,000 cash and is to have no contact with any minor child

The surging San Joaquin River is proving to be another tough water management problem
The raging waters from this year’s historic rain and snowpack are seeping through levees
destroying crops and threatening the city of Firebaugh
The small city of Firebaugh in Fresno County
“It’s been wet so long that now it’s seeping through the ground,” said Gallegos
Water is seeping into the basement of the new police department
which sits two football fields in length away from the river
but for the time being is getting pumped out
Gallegos is hoping the levees hold as water continues to gush in through the summer
There isn’t nearly enough funding to do necessary levee repairs
The city commissioned a study last summer to pinpoint the low points in the levees and estimate repair costs
It would cost about $140 million to do the needed repairs
It’s not something the city can afford as the entire city budget is only $3 million to $4 million per year
releases from Friant Dam into the river were at 10,000 cubic feet per second
That’s 2,000 cfs over the channel capacity of the river
general manager of the Lower San Joaquin Levee District
The district is a local agency as part of the Central Valley Flood Protection Board
The San Joaquin seepage isn’t only threatening homes
“Long term exposure of water on top of these levees
Hundreds of acres of crops on both the Madera and Fresno County sides of the levees have been inundated with water seeping through from the river
The levee district has responded to five major emergencies so far
where water caused severe erosion of the levees
levees were losing about a foot of height per day
The county and the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services took over for those instances and initiated emergency repairs
the district has patrols on 24-7 duty keeping watch over its 92 miles of levees
with cooler weather helping slow the snow melt
the fears of worse flooding haven’t been realized
But people are still worried about a heat wave
Part of the challenge is how much water is coming in from the Kings River
The North Fork Kings River joins the San Joaquin in the Mendota Pool
The North Fork has been hitting its maximum flows for a while now
executive director of the San Joaquin River Exchange Contractors Water Authority
“What that does is it limits the amount of flood space that’s available in the pool and downstream of the pool,” said White
“As you turn the corner and go north along the San Joaquin River
there’s a swath of ground there that’s adjacent to the river on both sides
And the issue is that the longer that saturation goes on the more leakage and so forth you see.”

Bills Mafia shows once again why they are the best fan base in the NFL
Bills fans raised over $90,000 dollars for Firebaugh High School through the one-week sale of the gray Firebaugh Eagles throwback hoodies
Josh Allen added a donation to make it an even $100,000 for his former high school
Allen was seen wearing the hoodie as he strolled into the locker room before the Week 4 game against the Houston Texans
Throughout and after the game there was a frenzy on social media with Bills Mafia asking where they could find this hoodie
Firebaugh High School didn't make the hoodie anymore, so ADPRO Sports teamed up with the school to have a limited sale that supported Allen's alma mater

Todd Allen has too many memories of his nephew to count. One in particular stands out. It happened at West Hills Community College in Coalinga, when a bulked-up Josh was at Reedley and just discovering his ability to run over defenders.
“His team was down like 28-7 at halftime, and Josh made such a ferocious comeback they almost won the game,” Todd recalled. “I just remember him starting to run in that game, and I go, ‘Where’s that coming from?’ He was running down the field, and I was running right along with him along the top of the stadium.”
When people asked what he was doing, Todd told them: “I’m running with Josh.”
Years later, the whole Central Valley can say the same.

— A young Josh Allen couldn’t wait to clamber into the front seat of his father’s Chevy Silverado for the 20-minute ride to school each morning in Firebaugh
knowing he’d have an opportunity to regale an imaginary TV audience with his latest sports exploit
With his left hand on the wheel and his right pretending to hold out a microphone
Joel Allen would pepper his two sons with questions about buzzer-beating baskets
“I tried to make sure I thanked the O-line first
trying to model my answers after some of the guys that were in the league at the time,” Josh Allen recalled
noting his father would critique his sons if their answers bordered on being self-centered
“It was just one of those things that he knew from a young age that sports were my passion
And it was something fun for him to do on the drive
The future Buffalo Bills quarterback was 5
never realizing that one day his weekly routine would involve conducting actual news conferences where he discussed an array of topics from dramatic wins to frustrating losses and even real-life issues
he consoled the families of victims of a racist rampage at a Buffalo supermarket
Allen drew on the memory of those morning drives
passing the fruit farms in California’s Central Valley
by crediting his father for instilling in him the confidence to address most any situation
“A lot of good people in my life have shown me the ropes on how to be yourself and be true to you,” Allen said
the 26-year-old is the team’s unquestioned leader
He has catapulted himself among the NFL’s elite young stars by rewriting many of the franchise’s single-season passing and scoring records while leading Buffalo to two consecutive AFC East titles and three consecutive playoff berths
Allen became the franchise’s highest-paid player after signing a six-year, $258 million contract last summer and boosted his celebrity status around town and beyond
Allen attracted a small gallery following his foursome during the Bills’ media golf tournament in June
he’s hobnobbed with Formula One drivers at the Miami Grand Prix and drew interest from the paparazzi
who snapped pictures of him and his longtime girlfriend entering a Los Angeles restaurant
For all that’s changed since the Bills were second-guessed for trading up five spots to select the raw
erratic and relatively unproven player out of Wyoming in the first round of the 2018 draft
what’s notable is how much Allen has stayed true to himself amid the distractions
“I think that’s what’s great about him,” general manager Brandon Beane said
“I think he’s still the kid from Firebaugh.”
Allen can be found playing the board game Catan
binge-watching “Breaking Bad” and amusing teammates with daily rounds of groan-inducing teenage bathroom humor
money makes you more of the person you already are
So he’s that same person,” receiver Stefon Diggs said
Tight end Dawson Knox became the victim of Allen’s latest prank while the two were signing autographs at camp
Allen snuck up behind Knox and signed the back of his neck
“He’s just the same old guy cracking jokes and quoting movies that no one’s ever heard of,” Knox said
and he’s one of the greatest competitors I’ve ever played with.”
who’s offseason non-football commitments included participating alongside Tom Brady
Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes in the made-for-TV golf event called “The Match” in Las Vegas in June
Allen took the earliest flight to Buffalo and was back on the field for voluntary practice the next day
Allen joked that it was because he played golf poorly and needed to get back to what he does best
“The way he handled that as a professional and in particular as a leader of this football team just added to the stack of things that he’s done,” McDermott said
“He’s authentic and genuine in his approach.”
Beane saw Allen grow as a leader while pulling the Bills out of a troubling funk last season
With their record falling to 7-6 after losing three of six, the Bills trailed Tampa Bay 24-3 when Allen addressed the team at halftime. With Allen playing on a sprained left foot, Buffalo rallied before losing 33-27 in overtime and closed the season winning its final four
“We needed somebody to grab everybody by their shirt tails and say
‘Let’s go,’ and I thought Josh did that down the stretch,” Beane said
He knew those guys are wanting that out of him
