Patients say Fort Oglethorpe clinic cost them thousands in surprise billing feesby Maggie Weaver
— We have received several complaints from patients of a walk-in clinic in Fort Oglethorpe
who say that billing issues have cost them thousands of dollars
These complaints involve Physicians Care in Fort Oglethorpe
Some patients have reported that the business initially claims to accept their insurance
The size of the bill is not the only issue
Some tell us that they did not even receive a bill until months later
they received bills after they had returned to the clinic multiple times
Tuesday we spoke with those patients and the Better Business Bureau to find out why this is happening
Samantha Reid says during her first visit to the clinic in February of last year
she got a bill in the mail saying her insurance was not in their network and she owed thousands of dollars
Multiple commenters posted similar stories on Facebook post
And at least 3 formal complaints were filed with the Better Business Bureau
The Better Business Bureau tells us the clinic now has an F rating
after not responding to the filed complaints
We also reached out to the clinic over the phone and in email with questions
Georgia state law says it is the patient's responsibility to check their coverage and network
But when we took Samantha's concerns to the Georgia Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fires
If you need to file a consumer insurance complaint, go here.

— New video shows an clash between a Catoosa County teacher and student that led to the teacher facing a child cruelty charge
An arrest report says the incident she's being charged for happened last Friday at the school
School officials say the incident involved "a student attempting to leave the stadium" during the day
says more investigation was needed before the arrest
Thursday we obtained surveillance footage of the October 4th incident from the LFO administration:
The video shows a female student attempting to push past Malone and another teacher to leave the stadium
Malone then grabs the student's backpack
attempting to pull her back into the stadium
You can see Malone raising her arms as she speaks in the video
and the student pushing her arms down in an attempt to get by
The video shows Malone grabbing the student's arm and pulling her back towards the stadium
But the student walks around the teachers and briskly walks away
We asked the school if they had video of what happened in the minutes before the clip they sent us
The Director of Human Resources told us the video we received was from the school camera video
He told us what they sent was the entirety of what they have
He also said an additional video was taken by a student
and that has been turned over to law enforcement
it says she told a deputy that she was working with 3 other teachers to monitor an event on the football field
The report says a student wanted to leave the event and Malone and other staff told her she could not do so
The report says the student then started "cussing and using her body in an aggressive manner."
the report says teachers contacted the SRO and school administration regarding the student
The report says the SRO stated that he would have someone follow up and investigate
Malone's attorney Tonya Craft told us..

2024 at the age of 91. “Bob” was born on December 17
New Jersey to Henry Matthew Weaver and Amelia Louise Ulmer Weaver
his “Buttercup” whom he spoiled well for over 60 years of marriage
they had four daughters and lived in New Jersey
Georgia became their permanent home.
Bob was born with a birth defect – his right arm was short
and he had five fingers but no thumb (his best friend Larry Payne called him “Flipper” and the two of them shared a lot of laughs and love). Despite this challenge
and could do anything else he put his mind to. Although he said once that he didn’t read Ecclesiastes because it was a “bummer”
verse 10 which says “Whatever your hand finds to do
do it with all your might.” In this way
he was a shining example to his kids and grandkids
Doris attempted to raise their four girls to be quiet young ladies
but she had an uphill battle with Bob cutting up at the dinner table and calling his girls the “Weaver Curtain-Climbers”
his favorite term for them was his “Chickadees”
and spending time with their family.
Bob was a godly man who put others before himself time and time again. He was awarded a scholarship at Julliard that he turned down so another student could take his place. He had a beautiful tenor singing voice and led worship in just about every church he joined. He loved cars and had a great sense of humor. His greatest legacy was a spiritual one – he taught by example how to love and serve God. He was a man of his word and a man of great character
Bob was a shining example of what it meant to be a husband
He personified pure love and joy to all who were fortunate enough to meet him
Bob never complained about his condition; instead he was an example of I Timothy 6:6 that “Godliness with contentment is great gain.” And Bob literally sang God’s praises any chance he got
God blessed Bob in so many ways in his life
Bob was able to bless others with a sense of God’s presence and love.
and his youngest daughter Cindy. He is survived by his daughters Cheryl Harris (Steve) of Eastanollee
