the family has connected with 16-year-old Haley Poore
"This was her second chance," said Kristie Poore
Kristie Poore said when she first learned about the possible heart
her family was overcome with mixed emotions
but was sad for the family that lost their child,” said Curt Poore
Kristie Poore was the first to hear the news of the possible donor
worried that her daughter would not survive the transplant
‘Can you guarantee my daughter is going to come off that operating table?'” Kristie recalled
But I can tell you this is the most perfect heart we could ever ask for in 100 days.'”
Haley too said she had mixed emotions about the transplant
Her journey after the transplant has not been easy
her other organs were jealous,” Kristie Poore said jokingly
“Her organs were jealous because they got this perfect heart that wanted to work
"It’s not going to end here,” Kristie said
“Celina is going to live on through Haley.”
the Poore family believes they have a new perspective on life
“I think it’s great for anybody to be a donor,” Curt Poore said
to see… we’re thankful and grateful for that gift.”
"It led me to write this letter to the donors," Kristie Poore said
"I wanted them to feel when they read that letter how sincere and how thankful we were for what they did for my daughter."
Haley went from walking a short distance out of breath to walking long distance

A Fuquay-Varina man wants answers after he claims his iPhone exploded in his pocket
Jonathan Allen told WRAL News he smelled something burning while on a walk with his family
"I put my hand in my pocket and knew the phone was hot to the touch," Allen said
Photos of the damaged iPhone 15 show shattered glass on the screen and impacts towards the camera lens
He said Apple dismissed his claims about the device and refuses to offer up a new product
Allen said he had an OtterBox case on his iPhone
WRAL News repeatedly reached out to Apple and are waiting to hear back
The company has a support page to help consumers with overheating products.
Allen said he's still financially responsible for the defective phone.
No one was hurt as a result of alleged explosion.
MyComputerCareer lead instructor Grant Gibson said it's the first time he's seen a phone explode in the area it did.
Gibson said it could be a manufacturing default.
"It doesn’t look like that’s the battery area, but looks like some heat-generated swelling occurred," Gibson said. "That may be another reason that might have happened."
The family of a woman who died after she was pushed to the ground at a Fuquay-Varina assisted-living facility filed a lawsuit on Tuesday against the facility
According to court documents obtained by WRAL News
the family of Lillie Johnson Cooper filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Windsor Point
On Sept. 24, 2023, Cooper got into an argument with Cynthia Williams Sellars, who worked at the facility
Prosecutors said Sellars pushed Cooper during the argument
causing Sellars to fall and fracture her hip
Cooper died 13 days later from her injuries from the fall
Sellars pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in Cooper’s death.
According to the lawsuit, the impact of the fall fractured Cooper’s hip, and none of the staff at the facility intervened despite two staff members being on the other side of the door of Cooper and Sellars.
The lawsuit goes on to say when the two staff members did come to her aid, they tried to pick Cooper up, but then put her back down on the ground after they were unable to move her and denied making attempts to move her when the state investigated the incident.
The facility staff, according to the lawsuit, did not tell EMS that Sellars put her hands on Cooper, which caused her to fall, and told them the fall happened when Cooper was walking away from Sellars.
Cooper’s family is seeking more than $25,000 in damages from the facility.

The leak was caused by a third-party that damaged the gas line
The company said they hit a line under 17 feet of cover and asphalt
"Enbridge Gas crews will remain onsite to work on a temporary measure to ensure service reliability for customers until the damaged gas line can be replaced in the coming days," a spokesperson for the company told WRAL News
The highway was closed at the Ten Ten Road intersection during the Monday evening commute. Sky 5 was there to fly over the miles-long backups.
First responders and gas company employees have been making the necessary repairs and
Resident Chantel Smith eventually made it home and arrived to no power.
"Outside of my normal route, it took about an hour to get here, only to find out it's a power outage," Smith said.
More than 2,400 people were without power in the area at one point.
As of 9:15 p.m. Monday, outages lingered, although many customers regained service.
Enbridge Gas said that all businesses around the leak were evacuated. Some in nearby apartment buildings were sheltering in place late into the night. A faint smell of gas lingered in the air.
Peter Lenk chose to find another place to stay as repairs took place.
"Hopefully it turns back on at some point and give us the all-clear," Lenk said. "If they do, I'll come back and if not, I guess I'm spending the night elsewhere."
