WFAE’s Gwendolyn Glenn reports on the exhibition and Black biker culture
Since 1980, Black Bike Week has been held in Atlantic Beach
attracting nearly 400,000 people each year
Gwendolyn Glenn: That’s photographer Alvin Jacobs
whose "Black Behind Bars" exhibition opened recently at the Gantt Center
Some of the photos are from Black Bike Week at the mainly Black-owned Atlantic Beach
There’s a much older Bike Week at Myrtle Beach just next door that attracts about the same number of people
many of the Black bikers stay in Myrtle Beach
and in 2018 the NAACP said Myrtle Beach officials discriminated against them by setting up a multi-mile traffic detour to funnel attendees out of the main drag at night
Police were also accused of using aggressive tactics against Black bike attendees
The NAACP filed a lawsuit and Myrtle Beach officials
who said their actions were safety-related
Jacobs and others say situations like this arise a lot where Black bikers are concerned because of the many myths associated with them
Alvin Jacobs: Some of the myths that I've uncovered associated with Black bikers are that they're not productive members of society
that everyone with a particular style of motorcycle belongs to a gang
The Black bikers that I know come from every walk of life in our community
The culture has nothing to do with how much money you have and has everything to do with how you show up — and showing up makes you the biker
Gwendolyn Glenn: Is that your personal motorcycle in the exhibition
That's my first Harley-Davidson motorcycle that I've ever owned
and my other bike — named after my father and
Glenn: Two of my brothers had motorcycles, lots of friends, a former principal used to ride a motorcycle all the time, and I thought that was so cool. And I have friends who are women motorcyclists. In your exhibition, you have a picture of Bessie Stringfield
Jacobs: There was this young lady named Bessie Stringfield who would get on her bike and just ride — I mean
and she became a folk hero in the industry
It was very important to me to highlight and to showcase Black women as well
Glenn: And Bessie Stringfield — she was the first Black woman to ride cross-country, and she's in the Motorcycle Hall of Fame
Glenn: Jacobs' journey as a biker started when he was young
His father rode motorcycles and was a member of the Brothers Bike Club there
He says riding was a way to connect with his father and is a form of therapy for him
Jacobs: I've been riding motorcycles for about 25 years or so
but I've been behind the bars of my own mental health prison for much longer
You are just prayed for and hope your prayers are answered
I have been dealing with mental health issues and challenges
which is the other aspect of the double entendre of "Black Behind Bars." Sometimes I just can't get it together
Jacobs: Throttle therapy is a response to a bunch of studies that state that the more you roll on that throttle
Anxiety tends to do something different in your body
you're in tune with the roar and the hum and the vibration of the motor
There's almost nothing like it in the world
It can actually help you achieve a level of balance while you're balancing the motorcycle
so "Black Behind Bars," it’s almost a triple entendre now
It's absolutely about being behind the bars of a motorcycle
It's actually the mental health challenges
Glenn: Jacobs mentions recidivism because he was hit with a contempt of court order last October by a family court judge — just as he was about to take 10 trips to various Black motorcycle events around the country to take pictures for the exhibition
so when I was absolutely required and responsible for doing so much — the content for the actual exhibition — I physically couldn't
Glenn: And a lot of the thinking you were doing was about this exhibition
Jacobs: Almost every aspect was about the exhibition
because I knew I was already behind schedule
and I basically used the time to eradicate most of the inconsistencies in my character — which made the opening so much more free for me
glad you got out to get this exhibition together
talking about myths and stereotypes about Black bikers — this exhibition is not just about dealing with some of the stereotypes
Jacobs: That part there is almost the most important aspect of “Black Behind Bars,” because there are so many Black men and Black women specifically that need help
But there’s this stigma around getting the help — that it means you’re weak — so that title is so powerful for a reason
What we’re going to do is continue to add to the exhibition
We’re going to be dropping videos and content along with mental health
so we’re going to partner with mental health professionals around the city and around the country to help us along with this journey

Perrine DeShield-Jenkins had one thought: Charlotte needs something like that
a light blue button up with white pinstripes under a blazer
already looked ready for the gala when we spoke
referencing a fashion style that centers menswear and
has roots that run from Reconstruction through the Harlem Renaissance into Blaxploitation and beyond
On May 2, DeShield-Jenkins will bring her vision to The Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture with Superfine at the Gantt: Exploring Black Dandyism
the event will celebrate Black people’s indelible contributions to fashion while highlighting local Black designers tailoring their version of the dandy aesthetic today
“We’re excited about the event because it gives us an opportunity to really showcase not only some amazing Black fashion designers and brands that are here in Charlotte
but also just the Black creative community in so many different facets and platforms,” DeShield-Jenkins told Queen City Nerve
One of the things the South has to say is how it was the breeding ground for the iconic Black dandyism style
In addition to showcasing local Black creatives
DeShield-Jenkins said she sees this event as an opportunity to connect the dots from where Black dandyism started
what it truly represents and how it has evolved over the years
we deserve.”André Leon Talley and the roots of Black dandyismEvery person’s idea of what constitutes Black fashion is different from the next
Black dandyism is either some outdated idea or doesn’t come to mind at all in a discourse that might pit suits vs
Black dandyism is about rebelling against those sorts of stereotypes
“A Black dandy is someone who takes fashion very seriously
“They are fully aware of that and they utilize fashion to just share the rest of that with the world
“They’re someone who doesn’t necessarily just immerse themselves into different trends
They either start a trend or they are above and beyond a trend
A Black dandy is fearless when it comes to fashion
They are someone who is fully confident in who and what their personal style is.”
With Black dandyism hardly at top of mind in today’s fashion world
DeShield-Jenkins said she was intrigued to see the Met Gala step up to showcase the culture on such an important platform
the Met Gala — and by extension her own event at Gantt Center — is about educating folks on the history of the culture and its pioneers
She points specifically to André Leon Talley
an icon of Black dandyism world and American fashion more broadly
or “the North Carolinian Black country boy who made it in the big city,” as she referred to him
Raised in Durham during the Jim Crow Era by his grandmother who worked as a cleaning lady at Duke University
Talley discovered Vogue magazine in a local library as a child and became engrossed
He would go on to work closely with Andy Warhol
Anna Wintour and other giants of the fashion industry
even advising the Obamas on fashion in 2008
“Andre Leon Talley is the dandy of all dandies,” DeShield-Jenkins said
“The gravity and the importance of Andre Leon Talley to the culture and fashion industry is so large.”
“the love letter that [Talley] always deserved.”
“It’s the flowers that he should have received when he was here with us
And I think that it’s so important that he’s acknowledged,” she continued
“So we can take the thing that was the most dear to him that is such a representation of his being
Fashion’s biggest stage is a perfect place to showcase an important aspect of Black culture and fashion
so DeShield-Jenkins aimed to take a page out of their book and host her event at the Gantt on the weekend before the Met
She could have held the event at other venues like the Mint Museum or Charlotte Convention Center
but it wouldn’t have the same significance
“As an African American museum and center for Black culture here in Charlotte
it is so centralized and so important to every Black creative here in Charlotte in so many different ways
You can relate some part of your career or trajectory or a moment to the Gantt Center.”
“Art is all around you,” DeShield-Jenkins told us
“There are so many talented people in arm’s reach on a regular basis that make some really cool things that have really great visions and a really strong creative perspective.”
She enlisted the help of local creatives to get this message across
Attendees can expect to see Teejay Alston’s brand
with sounds from Dammit Wesley and eats from The Thicc Co.
female-led sweet shop dedicated to honoring and preserving Black culture through food
Professor P enlisted the help of fellow creatives davita galloway of DUPP&SWAT
and Shekinah Williams of The Kinah Kollection to curate an exhibit for the event titled Dissecting Dandyism
Before committing to any plans for an annual gala similar to the Met
DeShield-Jenkins said she just wants to make it through the first one
One thing she knows for certain: She will keep highlighting Black excellence one way or another
“I would honestly love to either continue showcasing Black perspectives of fashion themes
and just getting everyone really excited about fashion and art and our contributions,” she said
“I love Charlotte … I definitely see an option and an opportunity in a world where we can continue to really amplify the fashion creative scene here in Charlotte.”

DeShield-Jenkins is passionate about keeping the local scene in the spotlight
extolling the importance for Charlotte natives and transplants alike to know that the sort of creativity they’ll see both at the Met Gala and Gantt Center is existing and thriving right in their own backyard
“I hope [Superfine] inspires people to know that you don’t always have to go to New York
you don’t always have to go to LA,” DeShield-Jenkins said
“You can actually do something that uplifts your community and the community that you are part of and ensure that everyone understands and sees your own piece of joy

As a former public-school teacher in Miami-Dade and now a state legislator
I’ve seen firsthand what works — and what doesn’t — in our public education system
Let’s be clear: Florida’s public schools are not failing due to local mismanagement; they are struggling because of chronic underfunding and years of state-level policy decisions that have diverted resources away from our classrooms
In a recent op-ed
Fabián Basabe suggests that our public schools should be grateful for meager and insufficient increases in state education funding — somehow implying that a lack of local accountability is to blame for underfunded and underperforming schools
We must all reject this damaging narrative
which creates division instead of delivering solutions
Our children cannot afford such distractions from the real work of fully funding our schools
and ensuring that all children — regardless of ZIP code — receive a high-quality education
Florida has long ranked at or near the bottom nationally in per-pupil spending
and no amount of spin changes that clear fact
Our students and teachers are doing the best they can under enormous constraints
but with a system designed to underdeliver
We don’t need political theatrics from those unwilling to fight for Florida’s students and educators
We need real investments in our state’s future
That starts with restoring equitable funding to our public schools
protecting programs that challenge and inspire students
and working with — not against — local school districts
The recent changes in how accelerated courses — such as AP
and Dual Enrollment — are funded will harm our students
particularly in low-income and underserved communities
These aren’t “add-ons;” these programs are lifelines — providing access to college-level coursework
and academic enrichment that levels the playing field for students who might otherwise be left behind
pushed by the GOP-controlled Florida Legislature
are not about transparency or accountability
They are about weakening public education while propping up alternatives like private school vouchers — now able to be used with no income eligibility cap — and charter schools
many of which operate with little to no oversight and no requirement to meet the same standards as traditional public schools
And I believe we cannot scapegoat our public schools while ignoring the role of the state in underfunding
Teachers are leaving the profession in droves
Arts and enrichment programs are being slashed
public school districts are asked to do more with less
I taught in Miami-Dade classrooms for nearly a decade
and the magic that happens when communities are given the resources they need to thrive
I also saw schools struggling to provide basic materials
I saw students with special needs waiting too long for services
I saw overburdened teachers stretched thin trying to meet unrealistic and unfunded mandates from Tallahassee
It’s easy to write an op-ed pointing fingers
It’s harder to roll up your sleeves and fix what’s broken
I’m here to advocate for the students and families who depend on public schools — not tear those schools down with rhetoric and misinformation
one of which over 70% of parents in Florida exercise
We cannot prioritize one over the other by depleting the resources of one to fund the other
Let’s stop using education as a political pawn and start treating it as the public good it is
Ashley Gantt serves District 109 in the Florida House of Representatives
Gantt is an attorney and a former public school teacher who taught in Miami-Dade County Public Schools for seven years before dedicating her career to public service
This is why I kept calling the vouchers and charters grift once you connected the owners of such school to the policy makers
but I want oversight and secular core curriculm
Feel free to augment with other stuff at the parent’s expense

When deciding which Gantt chart software to download and use
as some platforms may only provide limited project management options
so if you need to use advanced tools you may find an alternative is much more worthwhile
higher-end software can really cater for every need in terms of the variety of tools available
so do ensure you have a good idea of which features you think you may require

Gantt chart software can be a powerful weapon in a project manager’s toolset
A Gantt chart provides a macro view of a project’s timeline and schedule

It also shows the interdependence of each task (i.e.
whether tasks A and B must be completed before task C can begin)
you can get a high-level view of a complex project
spot potential bottlenecks in a timeline of tasks
and see how adjustments affect the timeline and budget
though Gantt charts aren’t their central focus
we look at the best Gantt chart software options for making and editing Gantt charts for any project
As the most well-known Gantt chart software in the corporate world, Microsoft Project gets points for familiarity and decades of usage
But it’s not the most user-friendly choice on our list and can be expensive for large teams
Microsoft Project is available as a cloud-based or on-premise solution
offering versions that are browser-based only

you can leave comments with important information for other team members to reply to; they'll get immediate notifications when they receive such a comment
A major drawback of GanttPRO is that there’s no free plan
ClickUp is a project management tool that’s famous with designers and people in other creative roles
the platform has an intuitive interface that makes it easy to navigate
ClickUp allows users to create Gantt charts with ease
You can add tasks via a drag-and-drop interface and change their position whenever you want
You can organize your tasks on the Gantt chart by factors like due date
you can create dependencies for different tasks
The Gantt chart view gives you a detailed overview of your projects in a visually appealing dashboard
It makes it easy to monitor the progress and spot any obstacles before they morph into something more serious
ClickUp has a free plan that lets you manage unlimited projects
so you'll need to upgrade to a premium plan if you're managing bulky projects
We've also featured the best spreadsheet software.
To test for the best Gantt chart software we first set up an account with the relevant software platform
whether as a download or as an online service
We then tested the service to see how the software could be used for different purposes and in different situations
The aim was to push each platform to see how useful its basic tools were and also how easy it was to get to grips with any more advanced tools

pled guilty this week for his part in what law enforcement has come to call the “Gantt 9 Robbery,” based on the number of people arrested for the crime
Whatley and eight others forced their way into Felix Jones’s home in Gantt in an attempt to rob him
“All of the defendants went to prison except for one,” said District Attorney Walt Merrell
“A female present at the scene did not take part in the crime and instead sat in the car
forced their way into Jones’s residence to assist with the robbery
Whatley and a few others were armed with pistols.”
Whatley was sentenced to 15 years in the Alabama Department of Corrections
each defendant has been sentenced to a term consistent with the extent of their involvement in the crime,” Merrell said
but a crime of this serious nature doesn’t allow much room for leniency
We are fortunate this is not a murder case.”
Merrell expressed his appreciation for the “hard work of Covington County Sheriff’s Office and the Gantt Police Department
as well as the help of the Andalusia Police Department
They all worked together for the common good and did a great job.”
Merrell said he expects the case against the last defendant

Associate Dean and Professor of Law Natt Gantt participated in a panel on the Ethical Implications of the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Lawyering at the Christian Legal Society (CLS) National Conference in Washington
The panel was moderated by Rick Campanelli
Lecturer in Public Policy at the University of Virginia Batten School of Leadership & Public Policy; and fellow panelists were Kevin Lee
Professor at North Carolina Central University School of Law
Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Ethics at Boyce College and Senior Fellow at The Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission
The panel was one of the conference’s plenary sessions and was attended by several hundred of the many conference registrants
the panel explored a wide breadth of issues related AI – ranging from the ethical issues on individual lawyers as practitioners
to the systemic issues on how AI is impacting the legal profession
to the broader issues for how AI is shaping societal perception of reality
Professor Gantt began by defining generative AI (Gen AI) and referenced some of the many ways Gen AI is affecting lawyering
he then focused much of his remarks on how the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct relate to the use of Gen AI in practice
including its implications on lawyers’ duty of competence
and how gen AI impacts lawyers’ fees and obligation not to assist in the unauthorized practice of law
Professor Gantt then concluded by discussing how the human aspects of lawyering are becoming more central to the lawyer’s role as technologies like AI overtake many of the technical aspects of lawyering
He mentioned three aspects of lawyers’ role as becoming paramount in this age of technology: lawyers’ duty to be advocates
not just makers of arguments; lawyers’ unique position to express empathy and to treat others in the legal system as created in God’s image; and lawyers’ ability to convey wisdom
In addition to his participation on the panel, Professor Gantt discusses his insights related to Gen AI and lawyering in his recent article “Moral Than Machines: The Ethical and Human Implications of Generative AI on Lawyering,” published in the latest edition of the Journal of Christian Legal Thought
Discussing issues like Gen AI and lawyering relates to HPU Law’s mission to prepare its graduates with the skills and mindset they need for professional success in a changing world
CLS Executive Director & CEO David Nammo
conference attendees thanked me for the incredible Artificial Intelligence panel at the Christian Legal Society national conference
I am so grateful for panelist Professor Natt Gantt
who brought his leadership and expertise to this subject
explaining AI from a Biblical perspective to our entire conference that was applicable for the practicing Christian attorney and grounded in a Christian worldview.“

Greensburg Salem’s Blessing Gantt reaches for a rebound against Highlands last season.
the Greensburg Salem girls basketball graduated four key players
all of whom are playing college basketball
That left the Golden Lions with big shoes to fill and just two seniors
the team opened the season with a 10-7 overall record
“There were some kinks we had to work out that we’re still working on
but nothing that we can’t fix,” Gantt said
“I think we’re doing pretty well overall
because a lot of them tend to get down on themselves just because they are younger.”
A key change this season was the Golden Lions’ return to Class 5A
their biggest priority became getting the rest of the team up to speed
“None of us have really been put in that position besides me and Regan because we were 5A our freshman year,” Gantt said
“I would say it wasn’t really that much of a jump because I feel like we can compete with any team in our section as far as that goes.”
Greensburg Salem held a one-game lead over Kiski for the final WPIAL playoff spot
Gantt is concentrated on keeping the team focused
“The mindset is just to push our hardest and try to win every game,” Gantt said
we have to beat a couple more teams.”
Gantt has had six double-digit scoring games this season
Consistency will be key if the Golden Lions hope to win another playoff game
“A big goal of mine is to make the playoffs and win a playoff game again like we did last year,” Gantt said
“Just try to be more consistent and keep my head up in games because sometimes it’s hard.”
Gantt also aims to add more double-doubles to her stat line in the remaining games
She credits her training routines for keeping her in shape for both basketball and volleyball
maybe like an ab circuit or like a leg circuit
because we use our legs a lot in basketball
and our core is a big part,” Gantt said
We really just did it at the beginning of the season for school and my travel team
It was just like working on agility and being able to move.”
She plans to attend Pitt to study athletic training and complete the AT master’s program there as well
Heading into the final stretch of the season
Gantt took some time for a Senior Spotlight Q&A:
How would you assess your play to this point in the season
I try to get everybody to play their role because with our team
I feel like nobody in our section’s really as big as us or as long as us because we have a lot of size
So the goal of mostly every game is to just try to get it inside to me because I’m like a key post player
but I would say I’m pretty consistent
It just depends on how the game’s going
Is there anything from one of your sports that helps with another
1 thing because having to jump from sport to sport is just a little confusing
Like I’m working with different people
I think the mindset thing plays a big role and just like the conditioning part of it
Like we condition differently for volleyball than we do basketball and all that stuff
What went into your decision to go into athletic training
My doctor because I’ve had multiple injuries over the years
‘Playing sports in college really isn’t the best idea.’ Working with physical therapists and my athletic trainers at my school all the time got me really interested in the field
What is one thing that people may not know about you
I would say I do put on like a shell around me to make it seem like I’m not really like a people person or anything
which is why I’m excited about college
I think I’m an outgoing person once people get to know me

Ashley Gantt has seven bills on deck ahead of the 2025 Session
with focuses on improving mental health services for first responders
boosting veteran-owned businesses and improving health care services throughout the state
and my community does not have the luxury for me to be focused on culture war politics when people need our help and have entrusted us by voting for us to introduce
and implement policy that allows them to live healthy
prosperous and safe lives,” she said in a statement
“Each of my bills will make the quality of life for Floridians much better by addressing the needs in my community and the state overall
and I do not take lightly that I’m in a position and have the power to do so.”
Atop her list is HB 1167
which would require the Division of State Fire Marshal to create and roll out a program that offers free mental wellness services and resources
including peer support programs and suicide-prevention campaigns
Miami Gardens Democratic Sen. Shevrin Jones is carrying the bill’s Senate twin
Another measure (HB 821) would waive all state-level filing and formation fees for veteran—and military spouse-owned businesses
It would also exempt those businesses from paying taxes on their corporate income for five years
Jones is carrying its companion measure
— HB 347 would authorize the Department of Transportation to create specialty license plates for Mimi Dade College. Rodriguez is the Senate sponsor

All things considered, ClickUp is the best software for building Gantt charts, and even has several Gantt-focused project management templates
ClickUp’s Gantt charts are available on all of its plans
including its Free Forever plan (but you’ll be limited to 60 uses per workspace)
you’ll find ClickUp’s additional features make managing projects much easier
You can brainstorm ideas on an online whiteboard
and get a top-level view of a project’s progress with more than a dozen ClickUp views
but it’s far from the only provider on the market
is not only our top pick of project management tools
but has some great Gantt chart functionality on its later plans
As we’ll demonstrate over the course of this guide
there are several viable options out there
Here’s our two cents – it’s much better to go for an all-round great project management tool than to look for a Gantt chart provider specifically
almost all project management software programs offer some sort of Gantt chart feature – and many of them are pretty similar
we’ve outlined a few things to consider when choosing the right Gantt chart provider:
and project management software is no different
we’ve listed our top project management software providers
and you can see which ones provide Gantt charts – as well as whether they’re available on the provider’s free plans

feature-rich software suitable for teams of all sizes
with an impressive free tier for individuals
great for small businesses and our top-performing providers on test – and there’s a generous free trial period
which can take your Excel-based task planning to the next level
A very capable yet pricey service with a huge number of useful integrations
with an easy-to-use automation builder and great budget tracking capabilities
stripped-down option best for small teams who need a central location for basic task management
relatively limited software that’s a lot simpler than its competitors
A great value piece of software that’s ideal for tech
software development and engineering teams
A simple task-list-based project management platform with an acceptable free tier
A solid project management solution with an attractive free tier for small teams and a very affordable premium plan
ClickUp is one of our favorite project management tools
It’s easy to use – especially when you’re setting up
ClickUp only needs your project details once and after you’ve inputted your task list
ClickUp is a real all-rounder. With some excellent task management tools, it’s more of a Work OS than the other options on this list
meaning that it’s a great solution for businesses looking to avoid juggling multiple different software providers
It would be great for a small design agency
The creative directors could use it to keep on top of different client briefs
while using ClickUp Chat to communicate instantly with remote freelancers
The only slight downside to ClickUp is that it doesn’t have dedicated budget management features, which providers like Teamwork have on their most expensive plans
But that’s one very minor downside to an otherwise excellent program you’re guaranteed to find useful
Although Gantt charts are available on ClickUp’s free plan
that does come with a catch – you can only view it 60 times a month
a good workaround for this would be to save these ‘uses’ for when you need to edit the Gantt chart and then distribute screenshots of it to those that need it when changes are made
ClickUp actually enforces this sort of restriction for a number of features (custom fields
for example) in order to make them available to free users
If you’re running a small project though that only has a team of three or four people
This certainly gives ClickUp a disadvantage over providers like Teamwork that don’t set limits on how many times you can view Gantt charts
but here’s the thing – ClickUp will be a much better choice than the other providers on this list (except monday.com) if you’re looking for more than just a Gantt chart
and would benefit from other project management features too
ClickUp is a great all-round tool for a variety of businesses of different sizes
and offers one of the best free plans on the market
It’s not overly blessed with integrations
but that’s simply because it has a lot of stuff in-house
This is one of the most fully-featured free plans currently available in the project management world
a full suite of task management and workflow creation tools
and various collaboration features to maintain team cohesion
This is ClickUp’s first plan without any usage limitations on things like milestones and resource management
The Business plan has a number of additional features that aren’t available on the Unlimited Plan
Advanced Dashboard Features and time tracking
This plan will be best suited to large businesses
and doesn’t have many extra features other than onboarding assistance – but if your business is big and requires a plan to match that
Teamwork is actually one of the best task management platforms
and is built for the close monitoring of project progress – it has a Gantt chart view as well as a wide variety of other preset charts you’ll find incredibly useful
including project health and workload planning charts
Teamwork also has excellent collaboration features
but one thing you should bear in mind is that it isn’t very good for compiling post-project feedback
If the post-project phase is a crucial part of your overall project
you may want to have a peruse of the other providers on this list
For businesses where interdisciplinary collaboration is baked into their everyday
Teamwork should be one of the first names on your list
if you needed to collate engineering teams
to track progress as you brought a product to market
has Gantt charts available – but unlike ClickUp
there isn’t any limit on the number of times you can ‘use’ the Gantt chart
It’s a super simple Gantt chart to use
and as long as you’ve already inputted your tasks into Teamwork somewhere
then the Gantt chart will auto-populate itself with those tasks
Teamwork’s Gantt charts are a little less busy than the other providers on this list – as you’ll see when you go through the images for each provider
this is one of the less cluttered views you’ll have
If you find it easier to digest the information about how your project is progressing presented clearly
then Teamwork’s Gantt chart won’t disappoint
Another favorite of ours here at Tech.co HQ
it isn’t overly blessed with third-party integration options
but that’s another consequence of having a lot of in-built features at users’ disposal
Viewing the Teamwork Gantt chart in action
it’s got a maximum project limit of just two
if you’re only completing one project with a small team – and you don’t need access to things like a team messenger app and billing & invoicing features
and you can make 300 projects with an unlimited amount of users
This is the first plan where you’ll be able to integrate with business communication platforms like Slack and MS teams
so this will be ideal for small-to-medium-sized businesses that would find the free package too small
This is the fully-featured Teamwork package, which has an impressive suite of user-centric features that other plans don’t have such as form builders, CRM functionality, and burndown charts (which is useful if your team uses a Scrum Framework
This package is only really suitable for very large businesses and is the first plan with unlimited storage (although you’re unlikely to need this unless you’ve got hundreds of people working in the same software simultaneously and storing documents in it
The last Teamwork tier is geared towards massive enterprises
and features premium consulting and supporting services
so you’ll have to get in touch with Teamwork to find out more
Like ClickUp, Zoho Projects has a very popular free plan that actually includes a surprising number of features considering it won’t cost you a cent to install
One of Zoho’s greatest strengths is its integrations – if you’re planning on using or are currently using CRM software during your project
Zoho is a fantastic choice thanks to compatibility with Hubspot
and of course comms apps Slack and Microsoft Teams
There’s also Zoho’s suite of other business products (Zoho CRM
Zoho is a great solution for scale-up businesses that already have most of their tech and processes entrenched in their day-to-day
You can easily integrate with a number of different platforms
without having to upskill your employees on new ones
Zoho also has the advantage of being one of the best providers we tested when it comes to value for money – Zoho’s first paid plan
is just $4/per user per month if you pay annually – that’s less than monday.com
ClickUp and Teamwork’s cheapest paid plans
it doesn’t have the best customer support
with no live chat or support available on any plans
Zoho Projects has an easy-to-use Gantt chart
which will be more appealing to some people than the straight lines of Teamwork and ClickUp but less appealing to others – it really is just a matter of opinion
Zoho’s Gantt Chart auto-populates with all information you’ve already inputted
It’s one of the providers featured in this article that lets you draw your own task dependencies on the Gantt Chart
which will help you understand your project’s critical path and make informed decisions on what you should and shouldn’t prioritize
Zoho Projects is a great option for businesses that don’t want to break the bank
and its paid plans start at a very respectable $4 per user
If you’re a fan of simple pricing structures
compared to some of the other vendors on this list
Zoho Projects is incredible value for money
with a large range of task management features and a great selection of collaboration tools
The only catch is there’s a three-project limit and a user limit of five
so it’s not suitable for anything bigger than a small team- and you can’t ad guests either
which will be fine for a significant proportion of teams
and has important features exempt from the free plan like budget management tools
20GB more storage than Zoho’s Premium plan
and will also allow you to create Custom Fields
which are handy when you want to add something to your project but can’t find a specific function for it
not tasks)Auto-populates Gantt Chart? Yes
Jira is another great option if you want to make Gantt charts for free – however
is its data visualization tools – which are all available on all of Jira’s plans
That means you’ll have both preset & custom charts at your disposal without paying anything
You can make comments on individual tasks within Jira, but it doesn’t have much more than that in terms of collaboration features – so it’s a good thing it integrates with apps like Slack and Microsoft Teams
Although Jira has one of the cleaner user interfaces in the project management world
and you can end up spending quite a lot of time menu-diving that could be spent elsewhere
it’s an excellent piece of software that does a bit of everything
Jira is a favorite of tech and engineering teams everywhere
It integrates with key tools throughout the so-called “DevOps” cycle – the collaboration of IT and software development teams – such as Bitbucket
Jira provides a ‘Roadmap’ view which enables you to view tasks in an effectively identical manner
the only downside – if you’re looking for a granular map of project progress
that is – is that only milestones (Jira calls ‘Epics’) show up in the Roadmap/Gantt chart-like view
It’s good to know that Jira’s Free and Standard plans only allow you to create these roadmaps for individual teams whilst the pricier plans will let you create them for multiple teams
the more complex/multi-faceted your project – and the more teams you have working on it – the more likely it is that you’ll need a more costly plan
Jira is very generous with its data visualization tools
as well as some of the software development platforms that we’ve mentioned above
a Gantt chart is known as a “Roadmap,” in which “Epics” can be tracked
There’s a whole host of data visualization tools
and workflow creation features including custom automations – which aren’t offered for free by every provider
Jira will restrict you to 2GB of storage but there are no limits on users or projects like there are in Zoho Projects and Teamwork
You don’t get many more features that aren’t available in the free version on Jira’s Standard plan
your storage capacity is ramped up to 250GB and there are more automations are allowed
so it’s a much better choice if you’ve got a data-heavy project
Jira’s premium plan has all of the Standard plan and Free plan features but also has some handy extras like resource management tools
You’ll also get access to Atlassian Intelligence
monday.com is the best project management software we’ve tested here at Tech.co – it has absolutely everything you need to run a successful project from multiple locations
The provider excels when it comes to customization and will let you exert a lot of control over the planning of your projects
and being able to move the order of tasks is very useful
The option to create subitems is also very handy for organization and keeping track of tasks with different priorities” – Jess
There are lots of team collaboration features
including a dedicated resource management chart that lets you track every team member’s workload
This feature is particularly useful for managers with several employees reporting into them
as it can give you oversight of who is overburdened and who might have more capacity
monday.com is supposed to be a one-stop-shop for project management from the conception stage of your project right the way to the post-project feedback stage
which monday.com can help you with thanks to features like a form builder and guest access
monday.com doesn’t have a very expansive free plan (although it has a 14-day free trial that will let you take one of its fully-featured plans out for a spin) so you won’t be able to make a Gantt chart for free
you’ll have one of the slickest-looking Gantt charts in the project management game
Gantt charts are really easy to create with monday.com because all you need to do is add the Gantt chart view to your project (which only takes a couple of clicks) and all of your tasks will appear on a Gantt chart without you having to type them all in and organize them
monday.com is our top choice of project management software
It’s a great all-rounder – really easy to use
all of your desired data will auto-populate
monday.com has four pricing plans available
starting with a free plan – although you won’t be able to access the Gantt chart view
This is a limited free plan that only allows for 2 ‘seats’ (users) so isn’t suitable for projects being carried out by larger teams
You’ll still get a lot of features (Kanban boards
etc.) but there’s no onboarding assistance or phone-based customer support and you won’t be able to access resource management tools
Monday’s Basic plan offers many of the same features as the free plan
but you’ll be able to orchestrate projects with an unlimited amount of users
which makes the collaboration tools monday.com provides (task comments
This plan includes everything available in the Basic Plan
but some handy extra features like Guest Access
the capacity to incorporate Comms and CRM integrations
and custom automations that’ll improve project efficiency
This is the first monday.com plan which will let you access Gantt charts
so if that’s what you’re here for
This package consists of the Standard plan features plus a few handy extras like private boards
and the ability to create a dashboard that combines 20 separate boards
You’ll have to contact monday.com directly if you feel the Enterprise package is the only one that will suit your business
and more integrations available than any other plan
There are some places to get Gantt Chart software for free – a cursory Google search will show you that there are several options out there
there are actually very few reasons to opt for dedicated Gantt Chart software over a broader project management software package
Many of the software packages mentioned in this article have free versions that let you create and use Gantt charts
This means can get your hands on the best Gantt charts out there without paying a single cent
we have a funny feeling you may find some other project management tools handy too
With project management software like ClickUp
much more at your fingertips – a luxury you won’t have with basic Gantt chart software
the customer support you’ll receive from a multinational project management software company will be markedly better than what you’ll receive from a free Gantt chart provider website
Gantt charts are an incredibly useful visual tool for project managers working on all sorts of projects
It’s the sort of tool that busy project managers will find beneficial because they won’t have to spend precious time reiterating project plans or how much progress has been made
If used within project management software
it can provide all team members with the most up-to-date state of affairs
Gantt Charts will help your business in a number of ways
What’s more time-consuming than employees who don’t know what’s going on
and need to have every little aspect of a given project re-explained to them
Gantt charts will save you time through the creation of a clear project roadmap everyone can look at
There’s nothing more demoralizing than being set an unrealistic deadline – this can happen if you set one way too soon
Gantt charts will aid with the creation of realistic goals and deadlines
simply because you’ll have all the information laid out in front of you
At Tech.co we don’t write about products and services without conducting thorough research
it’s time well spent if it means we’re providing better
When it comes to project management software
test out each project management software first-hand
guided by an in-house research framework consisting of six core assessment areas that break down into a range of smaller subcategories
This framework is based on the factors companies and project managers have told us are important to their every day usage
It’s important to note that not all of these criteria hold equal weight in our testing methodology
and based on what businesses have told us is essential
compared to what’s simply “nice to have”
Because of their central importance to project management
features for project & workflow creation
and task management had more of an impact on the overall than other criteria
if you’d like an all-encompassing project management solution that will give you Gantt charts and much more – and you’re prepared to pay for quality – monday.com is the way to go
You can get yourself Gantt charts for less with ClickUp
because monday.com doesn’t have a free plan

He also refused to communicate with his own defense attorney throughout the case
citing his client’s silence while arguing that Staron has severe mental health problems and should have been found incompetent to stand trial
“The only plausible explanation in my mind is there is something going on in his head that we can’t explain,” attorney Jason Silverstein said
said Staron deserved the stiffest possible sentence
Assistant State’s Attorney Tonya LaPolla said Staron had a “history of violence
deceit and reckless behavior” and had “earned every day of this sentence.”

State’s Attorney Ivan Bates said investigators are probing whether Staron is involved in other killings in the city
Meanwhile, the family of Javarick Gantt, Staron’s slain cellmate, said they are continuing to fight for answers from corrections officials
a slight 34-year-old man who used sign language to communicate
was being held at Central Booking for a failure-to-appear violation stemming from relatively minor assault charges
said corrections officials had wrongly scored Staron and Gantt the same in a risk assessment
adding that he anticipates filing a civil claim against the state
Bates said he also had questions about how long it took for corrections officers to discover that Gantt had been attacked
Rigor mortis had set in by the time he was found
a process which Bates said takes six to eight hours to occur
said his family was “torn to pieces by a system that failed my son.”
Staron stood trial in September for the killing of Keith Bell
Lapolla said Bell was sitting at a bus stop bench in the 1400 block of East Monument Street in the early morning hours of Sept
Detectives pulled video footage that identified the suspect’s vehicle
They said Staron matched the man in the video and could be seen displaying what investigators said was Staron’s distinctive “hand tic.”
Police also said they found footage of Staron discarding clothing in a trash bin behind a school and dumping latex gloves in a median on Central Avenue
When Harford County Sheriff’s deputies went to serve a DNA warrant on Staron two days after the killing
he emerged with a shotgun and knife but was taken into custody without incident
Staron’s parents said he lived with them and slept in the family room
Police said Staron’s shoes had blood on them
Handy said there was “overwhelming circumstantial evidence” connecting Staron to the killing in denying Silverstein’s request for a new trial
where he and Gantt shared a cell for a few days before Gantt was found dead on Oct
and then he pleaded guilty to killing Gantt
Prosecutors said that in mental health evaluations
Staron was determined to be “malingering,” or feigning psychological symptoms
Lapolla said Staron told a mental health professional that he saw a “little green man on your shoulder,” which she suggested was a bluff
He was also diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder
said based on his interactions with Staron
He said during the course of representing him
Staron never explained what happened in the cases and had trouble holding a simple conversation
this man is not competent to stand trial,” Silverstein told the judge
He said Staron had suffered repeated head injuries and concussions since he was a child and that those continued after his arrest in Bell’s killing
He said Staron was badly beaten while in jail
Staron repeatedly turned around and seemed to be speaking to someone who wasn’t there
“I truly believe the second homicide happened because ..
he was not in a great state of mind,” Silverstein said
Silverstein said Staron’s mother believes he was framed
She and other relatives and friends sent 13 letters of support to Handy and attended the sentencing
“But they don’t describe the person I have seen in this courtroom.”

1947 to the late Burton Hughes Gantt and Mabel Elizabeth Lackey Gantt in Davidson County. She was a graduate of East Davidson High School
