In the hours before Janelle Brown and Kody Brown's son Garrison died by suicide at 25
the Sister Wives star had been talking with him
As she shared in the May 4 episode: "I knew he was struggling."
Content warning: This story discusses suicide
The members of the Brown family can still remember the moment their hearts were divided
she and Arizona-based Garrison were "texting all day long," Janelle noted
"And this was not unusual because he and I talked probably three times a day."
In fact, the mom of six—she and Kody also share Logan Brown, Hunter Brown, Gabriel Brown and Savanah Brown—made it a point to respond to all of Garrison's missives
"I knew he was struggling," Janelle said of her middle child's battle with anxiety and depression
"and I always just picked up the phone and I always make it a point to just talk to him."
Their conversation didn't involve anything particularly remarkable
Nor was she particularly alarmed when he stopped responding to her texts
But since she knew he'd been drinking—"He would go through periods where he was really good and then he just would have a binge just as part of the cycle," Janelle explained—as she laid down in bed around 8:30 p.m.
"Because we've tag-teamed," Janelle explained of how the family continued to rally around the Nevada National Guard staff sergeant
'Will you guys see if Garrison will repond to you?' And so they were on it."
Confident her baby was in good hands ("They said
We'll just kind of check on him and make sure he's OK'")
She could have never imagined the wake-up call she received
"Gabriel had found him," Janelle said of Garrison, who died by suicide
The moments that followed were largely a blur
"I don't remember the next few minutes," Janelle admitted of her shock
"but I got in the car and drove."
members of their expansive family began to rally around her
"I called Janelle," Meri recounted on the May 4 episode devoted to Garrison's passing
I'm getting food and I'll be over in a little bit
I didn't know what else to do."
they'd fought with every fiber of their beings to avoid this type of outcome
"He had anxiety and depression," Janelle explained to her younger sister Carrie of Garrison's mental health struggles
"and then he started drinking as a way to sort of soothe that." Instead
it "became the animal he couldn't get a hold of."
Though she and the rest of the brood did their best to wrap their arms around him
"We knew he was in a bad place," said Janelle
"We were doing everything we could for him
he just couldn't get on top of it."
As their grief began to replace the shock, Kody and Janelle went about the business of burying their baby boy
"Kody and I decided that we would cremate him," Janelle detailed
"I knew that that's what he wanted
And that way it gives us the opportunity to have the funeral in a better time of year."
His final resting place is on the family's plot in Wyoming
"He loved it there," said Janelle
she and her former husband were in lockstep
"I remember sitting there with Janelle and I was just going
I really just want to take my boy home,'" he reflected in the episode
'Let's take him back to Wyoming and let's bury him next to Grandma Cheryl
We just totally agreed that would be the right thing."

"It still makes me wonder if something could have been done. It's the what-ifs. The what could have been," Kody said on the latest 'Sister Wives' episode
Print News of son Garrison Brown’s suicide blindsided the core cast of “Sister Wives.”
One by one, on Sunday’s episode of the TLC reality show, father Kody Brown, his wife Robyn and the women who used to consider him their husband — Meri, Janelle and Christine — told how they found out about Garrison’s death.

Kody and Meri Brown of TLC’s ‘Sister Wives’ confirmed that they’ve ended their marriage, making Meri the most recent of three women who’ve left the polygamous family.
The cameras were trained on Meri Brown as she sat on a couch and prepared to talk about her birthday. “That’s weird. Kody’s calling me,” she said, looking toward her phone and mentioning the man she had called her husband until January 2023.
“Do you want to take it?” a crew member asked. “Nope,” she replied. “He can text me if he needs me.”
“He’s calling again,” she said later, appearing annoyed. “I already texted him.”
Then she said, “He said it’s an emergency.” The crew called cut and she got on the phone. “What?” she asked. Then the picture dissolved into text: “On March 5, 2024, Kody and Janelle’s son Garrison passed away.”
‘Sister Wives’ star Janelle Brown told police that her son Garrison sent alarming texts before his apparent suicide

“It is with great sadness I confirm Mr. Robert Garrison Brown was located in his residence deceased, as a result of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound,” police told The Times last March.
Garrison and Janelle Brown laugh together as Janelle helps make dinner on TLC’s “Sister Wives.” (TLC) Garrison’s roommates and his brother Gabriel told police that Garrison had been struggling with a drinking problem and possible mental health issues. But Gabriel said his brother had started a job at a medical facility and seemed “OK.”
“It was just this weird, weird, surreal moment that’s like, ‘No ... not one of our kids. They’re not going to do that,’” Meri said later in the episode. “And I’m like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ and he’s like, ‘No.’”

Before his death, Garrison texted a group of people whom the family works with, writing, “I want to hate you for sharing the good times. But I can’t. “He was a bright spot in the lives of all who knew him,” Janelle posted on Instagram at the time. “His loss will leave such a big hole in our lives that it takes our breath away.”
Kody had just that kind of visceral reaction, he said in Sunday’s episode.

“The first moment the grief really clobbered me was when I was sitting down with [daughter] Gwendlyn holding her hand,” he said. “I look inside myself, I’m looking down my esophagus, in my imagination, and into my lungs. “And that’s when I first I think became really aware that this situation has gone down and it’s just sort of unreconcilable. I just don’t know what to do. I’m lost in this.”

As fans of ‘Sister Wives’ know, Garrison died by suicide March 5
A post shared by Robert Brown (@robertthebrown)
you know what I’m saying?” Kody said to his only remaining wife Robyn Brown on Sunday’s episode
“I just don’t know what to do with his death,” Kody continued
“I’ve got to do something different because I could have had more time with him
I thought there would be more time.”
As ‘Sister Wives’ fans may remember, Kody’s relationships with many members of his family– both wives and children– became disjointed amid the COVID-19 pandemic
during which he and Robyn enforced much-stricter protocols than others in the Brown family
Kody said on Sunday’s episode that the “frustration” he had during the pandemic suddenly felt “so unimportant” in the wake of Garrison’s death.
“How do I do the rest of my life with every holiday and every birthday?”
Kody went on to tell Robyn that people had advised him after Garrison’s death to not “get caught up in the what-if train,” though he said he was doing just that
as it was “part of the process” for him.
“What if I had called him?” Kody wondered during the episode
It still makes me wonder if something could have been done
As The Ashley previously told you, Kody made similar statements in his first (and only) interview after Garrison’s death, telling People in September that he couldn’t “reconcile” that Garrison was no longer here and that he regretted putting off trying to improve things between the two of them.
A post shared by Robert Brown (@robertthebrown)
“ … We could have been talking more,” Kody told the outlet. “We could have done so much more … It was kind of like, ‘We’ve got forever.’
“It was more like it was a convenience of time that I felt like I had,” he continued. “Retrospectively, there would’ve been more of a regular catching up and touching base.”
Kody went on to say that if he had it to do over, he would’ve taken “advantage of the time” he had with his son.
“I want to go out to diner [with Garrison] again. I want to sit down. I want to have a beer,” Kody said. “I want him to try and make me laugh because he was kind of that way.
A post shared by Robert Brown (@robertthebrown)
I would just do that more often,” he continued
“The only regret is that you didn’t do something
Kody also expressed how “strange” it was to have one of your children pass away
claiming the grief he felt was different than anything he had felt before.
“ … And it is different in the idea that it’s irreconcilable– the future that we missed with him,” he added.

He still puts Robyn’s kids on a pedestal and abandons his own
Maddie has mentioned that he doesn’t even see his grandkids
I will never forget Garrison and Gabe crying on the show begging him to spend time with them and not shut them out
All he could do was get mad and say “If you don’t accept my WIFE Robyn then you don’t respect me.”
Then that same season he said the most vile and hateful things about Garrison and Gabe specifically
I can’t remember word for word what he said but he had a look of hate in his eyes
He said if they were going to cut him off he didn’t care and he would cut them off first”
Then of course saying that Jenelle needed to kick Gabe and Garrison out
Garrison saved up money and bought his own condo
Do you think Kody ever called and told him that he was proud that his 25 year old son was a homeowner
And Gabe.💔My heart hurts so much for him being the one that found Garrison
that must mean you’ve taken the last year to reach out and apologize to all of your estranged children for making them feel like complete afterthoughts next to Robyn’s children

THOSE kids… not the ones who grew up with Garrison and actually loved him
This must be his justification for not going with Gabe when he went to pick Kody up after the discovery and Kody didn’t go with him
Maybe Kody will again watch this episode and make it right

He tried to bully Janelle into kicking the Kody rule breaking children out of her home

But despite Garrison’s loved ones offering him support
It wasn't that he didn't have those things
I don't know what happened that night he did that
Because he's had other nights like this where he would drink and then pass out and he would go kind of radio silent

you know what I mean?” she told Carrie over the phone
“And then just became the animal he couldn't get a hold of
The 55-year-old also detailed navigating her grief in the immediate days and weeks following her son’s passing
Though the episode marks the first time fans will see Janelle and Kody
Garrison’s loved ones have been candid about his passing in the time since
Among the messages they want fans to hear: The importance of mental health
"Mental health is so important and I don't think we talk about it enough and I don't think we do enough to bring awareness," Garrison’s sister Madison Brush said in a March 18 Instagram video
it wasn't a lack of love that Garrison had
and I am going to continue talking about mental health and self care until I am blue in the face."
She also addressed the role social media can play in affecting users’ mental health
"Social media is not real—it's a highlight reel and that was something that Garrison and I talked a lot about," Madison continued
"I know my other siblings and my mom have expressed this—that Garrison used to feel like he wasn't doing enough because he was comparing himself to things on social media and I don't think that it's real and we need to remember that."

the patriarch expressed his regrets while reflecting on his grief journey in the latest episode

Kody Brown is looking back with a new perspective
he reflected on their complicated dynamic prior to his tragic passing
“It wasn’t supposed to be this way,” Kody told his wife Robyn Brown outside of their home in the May 4 episode
I didn’t get a chance to really just make things right—just not being able to say goodbye.”
“I just don't know what to do with his death,” he continued
“I've got to do something different because I could have had more time with him
Kody—father to 18 kids with Robyn and his three previous polygamous wives, Janelle, Meri Brown and Christine Brown—has had strained relationships with “90 to 95 percent of his children,” his ex Janelle previously shared
It was no different with Garrison and his 23-year-old brother Gabe Brown
whose relationships with their dad had gotten worse amid Kody and Robyn’s strict protocol during the COVID-19 pandemic
As the Brown patriarch now navigates his grief journey
he shared how his perspective on his past behavior has since shifted
“All the frustration I had over stuff with COVID and everything like that
“How do I do the rest of my life with every holiday and every birthday?”

Meri Says Kody Gave Her Hope for Their Marriage
"Like he led me to believe those things
is "his lack of communication and how he really felt and what he really wanted or what he really didn't want and the story that he's been telling for all these years."
And while Kody acknowledged that there may have been "mixed messages," it was only because as he started to work on things
'Why would I do this?'" he explained
"I would not court and date her now."
Either way, Meri's friends were thrilled when she finally pulled the plug in early 2023
And it’s about damn time,'" she confessed
she now feels that he had been trying to get her to walk away for years by insisting he didn’t love her
"Because if he can push me out and I leave
he's not the bad guy because he didn't walk away."
"I’d almost rather scrap it or sell it and then just start again somewhere else."
"I can’t talk about that," she responded
that was what was really holding me here."
Even when Kody broached the idea of reconciling in the Nov
"I don't know how I would ever reconcile with him and have him not have a relationship with my kids," she said
I'm going to always choose my kids."
Kody Feels He's Been "Excommunicated" from His Own Family
That was the explanation Kody gave for not working harder to mend the rifts he was experiencing with several of his adult children
"I don’t fit in the family anymore," he griped in the Sept
Noting he was still fully married to Robyn and parenting their five kids together—Dayton Brown
"and then I have some relationship with some of the other kids and it's infrequent
Robyn and Kody's Marriage Was on Shaky Ground
Despite being truly monogamous for the first time in their 14-year union, "We’re probably doing the worst we’ve ever done in our marriage," Robyn confessed in the season 19 premiere
Kody’s feeling a lot of rejection and so I think he’s kind of looking at me going
'Are you going to reject me too?'"
I’m having to consistently make sure that he is not sabotaging our relationship." The hardest part
she summed up: "There’s no resource to help with the idea that I’m still married to a man who’s going through divorces."
"I can’t look myself in the mirror and say
For Robyn, it was a struggle to watch her former sister wives embrace their new era. "They're all moving on," she noted in the Oct. 27 episode
"I feel like the idiot that got left behind."
Add Janelle’s eldest daughter Madison to the list of kids Kody doesn’t currently have a relationship with
"I know that Maddie has not had any conversations with her dad," Janelle explained during the premiere
and she doesn't have any relationship with Robin
She's pretty much written them both off."
is Kody having a half-hearted relationship with Maddie’s kids Axel
Evangalynn and Josephine: "She doesn't really want him to have any contact unless he can commit to it."
Kody "did sort of cut off communication” with Maddie and her husband Caleb Brush (whose sister was married to Kody’s brother) "when the family started to really dissolve.”
Maddie "has been Mama Bear to the extreme," added Janelle
"She has felt like until he can be consistent and show up and not be dramatic that she feels like it's probably better if they don't know about him."
And while Robyn noted she’s been encouraging Kody to reach out and mend things
"I think the kids should be doing the same thing
Kody doesn’t seem ready to repair the rift
griping that every time he spoke to his daughter
"It was a fish for gossip and I got tired of it."
While spending time together on their 32nd anniversary
"He was alluding to the fact that he never loved me and he felt like he had to marry me," Meri shared in a chat with her friend Brandi during the Sept
And if he didn't, the mom to Leon Brown said in a confessional
"When a single young man meets a single young woman
why would he choose to marry her and just affirm and force love for her when he didn't love her?" she wondered
To pick me out of a crowd and just be like
'I pick you to try to force myself to love for the next 32 years'?"
he shared in his own confessional: "Oh
I'm not going to comment on it."
he would share that they never enjoyed a honeymoon period
"This marriage was on the rocks the entire marriage," he insisted on the Oct
Because I had such a better relationship with Janelle
He admitted he "should have gotten out of the relationship 25 years ago," but he stayed out of fear
"Leadership will never allow you to marry again if you're discarding wives."
Janelle Threatened Legal Action Against Kody
"Because I think that's the only way I'm ever going to get any kind of decision out of him."
And Janelle acknowledged that without a legal marriage to Kody
"I really have no legal rights to make any kind of claim on Kody’s property." As she put it
"It's not like I'm just calling a lawyer and saying I need to divorce this person
it's really complicated because there's no legal marriage."
Kody Supposedly Divulged Private Information to His Other Wives
Kody's explanation for not talking with Janelle about their Arizona property is that he no longer trusted her
"We will pay off the property when the time comes," he insisted in a confessional during the Sept
"and I'm not giving you any details about what I'm doing or whatever because I'm tired of disclosing information that goes through the gossip mill of our broken family."
"He leaks like a sieve," she shared
"He told me stuff about his other relationships and his other wives that I was like
'I don't think you're supposed to be telling me that.'"
Back when the family's love was still multiplying rather than dividing
they used to pool their money into one pot
"We would use all the resources to help one person
then we would all rally to support the other person," Janelle explained on the Sept
"That's how it always worked until the last 10 years or so
And all of a sudden it’s been about my estate and everyone needs their own estate."
So when Robyn was in need of a home in Arizona, they all pitched in to buy her $1.65 million five-bedroom spread—which was listed for sale this past August
The intention was that it would be an asset for the family
But when Janelle suggested that they all put their names on the mortage
protect Robyn’s estate,'" Janelle recalled
So now that she's extricating herself from the family
she'd like her portion of the Coyote Pass proceeds "and I'd like to recoup some of the money I put into Robyn’s house."
"We were working together for so long," noted Robyn
And with Janelle saying she's owed money from them
Janelle Questioned How Kody Handled the Family Money
Griping about the family’s inability to pay off Coyote Pass, Janelle said Kody claimed to have "all these other debts." And, yet, she’s watched him snap up other assets like trailers and home décor. "I see all the art on their walls," she said of Robyn and Kody's home
too." (For his part Kody said much of his cash went to buying cars—"Basically had a fleet"—and insurance for the kids.)
And while Janelle acknowledged she wasn’t sure how Kody and Robyn handled their finances
"I used to always be surprised at how nice her backyard was
"He doesn't prioritize what I need or what I want." And that issue eventually wore her down
and my kids were getting very angry about it
was that she was very careful with her budget after her first marriage fell apart
“I used to be not so great with money," she shared during the Sept
and then I learned during my divorce really how to budget myself very
very well." As for her fellow sister wives
"You just must have had a different priority of where your money was going to go than I did
Janelle and Christine See Their Kids as the Core Group of the Family
I don’t really foresee that’s going to change much."
Kody Thinks His Wives Leaving Hurt His Relationship With the Kids
Calling their set-up with four homes on one cul-de-sac during their stretch in Las Vegas "the best time of my life," Kody said
"Everything was going along smoothly and Maddie and Caleb were around and it was great having them around
But "things started to fall apart" in Arizona as they clashed over coronavirus-related precautions
his bonds with the kids followed: "It just made all those relationships go sour."
But Christine insisted their were issues well before she announced she was leaving in late 2021
"All the kids that were frustrated were frustrated way before I left," she said on the Sept
"My leaving didn't change his kids' relationship with him
Kody can still fix his relationships with his children."
Though it'll definitely take some work
"I'm so angry about how I've been treated that I haven't gotten past that," Kody explained
"Here's the thing is I'm not willing to take blame for things that my wife or ex-wife is sitting there telling them that I did
I hope the time comes when the contempt will subside
We'll be able to find forgiveness and love again."
Kody Said His Marriage to Meri Was Miserable
Kody revealed he and Meri didn’t know each other all that well when they wed both spiritually and legally at the age of 21 and 19, respectively. (They eventually filed for divorce in 2014 so Kody could legally adopt Robyn’s three eldest children from her first marriage.)
she was very different and I think just there's some baggage that Meri had that I didn't know about,” Kody explained
I felt like I could live with it." Claiming that everything was a fight
"I can’t live in a world where she is constantly angry at me."
"If he wants to stay faithful and in the faith
So I was not able to get out of that relationship
I didn't necessarily want out of the relationship
I wanted to know if we could save and fix it."
he acknowledged of Meri thinking they would work everything out
I'm trying to be curious with her and I'm bored."
Janelle and Meri all chose to have me leave the home."
Kody Didn't Agree With Meri Wanting a Spiritual Divorce
Though Janelle and Christine felt they didn’t need to divorce Kody because their marriage was never legal
Meri asked their church for an official separation
"When each of us four ladies married Kody
it was through our church," she explained in the Sept
"Obviously we can't all be legally married
So I feel like it's best to terminate that because we're not moving forward with any marriage and I don't want to be
sealed to him for eternity if he doesn't want me
let’s just separate this completely."
not wanting to "acknowledge the authority" of the church leaders
"The damage was done so badly that we're not going to reconcile no matter what," Kody explained of his stance
I don't want to be accountable to this church and all their BS
So I'm going to let Meri go and do her thing because if I'm angry at her it
And I needed her just to go away because it just took forever for her to finally realize it's been done and over for years."
Many of Kody's Kids Aren't Speaking to Each Other
A text message discussion over a 2021 holiday gift exchange turned particularly ugly for the 18 Brown offspring
it all went south," detailed Christine
"Kody and Robyn and their kids were on one side and they wanted nothing to do with Janelle
And there was a split that happened after this text thread."
Robyn’s take was that her three older kids felt the exchange was "emotionally unsafe" and said they needed to take a step back from the relationship
we don’t want anything to do with you,'" she insisted
Gabriel is hoping that they could find their way back to each other
"The thing I want most is to just have a relationship with Robyn's children again," he confessed in the Oct
Aurora was my favorite person to hang out with
I'm not hopeful for a relationship with Dad And Robyn."
Robyn's Kids Never Felt Welcomed Into the Family
multiple circumstances by multiple different people
that I was not accepted," Aurora insisted of coming into the family when her mom wed Kody in 2010
that they didn't consider or see me that way."
And her sister Breanna said she felt the parents "could have done a better job with
connecting us as a family and it never really happened."
But Christine isn’t sure how they could have opened their arms any wider
"Robyn’s kids and Robyn were invited to everything," she insisted
come into the house anytime you want.'"
but they always considered Robyn's kids their siblings just the same."
Janelle Would Do Plural Marriage Again; Kody Wouldn't
Gushing about the independence she was afforded
you have this amazing family unit that you’re part of
You have a husband and you have a great relationship with him and and you have everything
plural marriage really was a really great arrangement."
wouldn't say "I do" to polygamy again
"Polygamy kills emotional intimacy," he opined on the Dec
and I really want an emotionally vulnerable
and you're not going to get that in polygamy."
Kody Started Distancing Himself From Janelle Years Ago
Kody had a tougher time dividing his love after the family decamped from Las Vegas to Arizona in 2018
Kody found it a lot easier to be away," she noted on the Sept
"A couple of times I had to remind him that he needed to come to my house." Revealing he'd try to beg off because he was tired
you can rest at my house just as much as you can rest at Robyn’s house.'"
Janelle and Christine's Kids Didn't Love Going to Robyn's
Detailing the "separateness" her brood felt with Robyn
"My children were scolded if they would open up Robyn's fridge." For Christine's kids
the issue was that "they saw that Robyn and their dad were a couple and he wasn't in our home."
And Robyn said her crew definitely felt the divide
but the rest of the family really struggled to accept my kids and I," she shared on the Sept
"All we wanted to do was be a part of this family."
But Gabriel would argue that he and his siblings went to great lengths to bring them into the fold
"I think that Robyn definitely has a victim complex," he said in the Oct
And I don’t necessarily blame her for that
devise different strategies to keep themselves afloat."
"If she actually believes that we were mistreating her or her children in any way when she was constantly getting favorited by Dad and we were always working on our relationship with her kids
then there's no chance of me having a relationship with Robyn ever again."
Janelle Questioned Robyn and Kody's Parenting
Having their dad shuffle between four different homes did have an affect on Kody's 18 kids
sharing the time that his and Robyn's youngest
clung to his leg as he was trying to leave
I got other kids that need to see me,'" Kody described
"And she’s just dragging along on my legs screaming
Unfortunately, that's just a reality of plural marriage, insisted Janelle
"From the very beginning," she explained
her kids "knew that their dad was not going to always be there
I always felt like that Kody and Robyn mismanaged the situation with her children
He couldn't be away for more than three or four days because Ari just gets so sad or whatever
Through all history of the family the other kids did it and they’re fine
Mykelti Had a Very Close Relationship With Robyn
One of the few Brown kids who was still close to both Robyn and Kody and Christine and Janelle
mom of three Mykelti took on the role of peacekeeper during Kody's divorces
Tight with Robyn from the moment she entered the Brown family, Mykelti even invited her to be at the November 2022 birth of her twins Archer and Ace
and she made me feel special and she made me feel seen," Mykelti explained during the Sept
"Robyn was there for me when I needed somebody
She was there for me when I needed somebody to hear me
And her mom Christine couldn't have been more thrilled
"When Robyn came in the family and it was obvious her and Mykelti had a great relationship
it was everything that I hoped for," Christine shared no the Oct
"When I was so excited about having a plural family
I was hoping that my kids would have a great relationship with other moms
One of Kody's Kids Claimed He "Brainwashed" Them
Kody feels it's not only his wives who subtracted him from their lives. "They're purposefully leaving me out of their lives to punish me for a crime I did not commit," he explained during the Oct. 6 epsiodes, giving his take on his estrangement from some of his older kids
"I am only guilty of not falling madly in love with their mothers."
he think his former spouses are a bit to blame
"This disparity in relationship with my children is specifically in my mind because of s--t talk," he said
"There's this whirlwind of disappointment from the family breaking up or whatever
But while he can shoulder a bit of that blame, he takes umbrance with the name-calling. Revealing, specifically, that he was struggling to connect with Hunter
Kody shared that one of his kids responded to a text "saying
I would never speak to you again anyway.'"
"I've had one of my kids just say
You manipulated me and you brainwashed me.'"
And it's that venom he's not willing to deal with
"I’m not going to reach out forever," he said
noting he thinks his adults should be doing more to fix things
but somebody else is going to have to be on the other end of that and make some effort too."
Robyn Was Struggling to Respect Kody as a Parent
watching Kody's estrangement from his adult children hit far too close to home
my parents got a divorce," she explained during the Oct
"He lived with one wife in another city
I remember confronting my biological father saying
Why?' All he really did was just make a bunch of lame excuses as to why he wasn't there for me when I was young and it just sucked."
So, no, she wasn't about to allow Kody's hurt feelings stop him from making an effort. "I’m having a hard time not, like, feeling like losing respect for you a little bit," she shared during their explosive on-camera argument
And though Kody acknowledged he could be doing more to mend his relationship with his kids
Saying he feels some of his kids are "colluding against me," he revealed
"I'm so angry about what has happened that if I talk to my kids
I'm worried that they'll trigger me with an accusation
Kody Went Years Without Seeing His Grandchildren
Though much of the family was in attendance when Janelle and Kody's oldest Logan wed now-wife Michelle Petty in October 2022
"You saw Madison take her kids and scuttle them away from me," Kody complained to Robyn in the Oct
noting that his daughter hadn't told him she was expecting her third baby
"She never told me she was pregnant."
Maddie doesn't tell her dad much of anything with the two rarely speaking
"Really, Maddie doesn't have any contact with him," Janelle explained of why her daughter steered clear of Kody at the wedding
"She is very protective of her children
Kody has not been there since Evie was born and Evie's three-and-a-half
And she didn't want him to just drop in and like
I'm your grandpa,' and them be like
“It’s unrealistic expectation for grandparents to be in their grandchildren’s lives all the time,” he said
referencing Maddie's life in North Carolina
“especially if you move your children to an entirely different coast
I have work and a life in Flagstaff."
Kody Wanted His Kids to Apologize to Robyn
While it's clear that Kody and his adult children have very different viewpoints of their ongoing estrangement
one sticking point is his demanding some sort of mea culpa
"After the COVID scare was over and we all went back to our normal lives
we still couldn't reconcile as a family because Kody felt like the boys needed to give an apology to him and to Robyn
especially to Robyn," Janelle shared of her sons in the Oct
"And after it sort of morphed into this
they just need to come and talk to me."
was that he felt his kids hadn't been loyal to him "and the most precious person in this family who's given her heart and soul has been disrespected or some bulls--t like that," she summed up
describing one conversation with his father
"He kept like phrasing it like I owed him an apology," he recounted to Janelle
actually ready to have a relationship and fix things
then we're not going to talk anymore.' He came back a couple of days later and texted me
thinking about what you've been saying
Of the six children Kody shares with Janelle
but every couple months he'll call and they'll go out," Janelle described in the Oct
"The rest of the kids don't really have much of any kind of connection with him."
As for Savanah—who graduated from high school in 2023—she feels her four older brothers have taken on that father figure role
the teen already confessing to Janelle that she'd tap her siblings to walk her down the aisle one day
"I've talked to Savanah about it and she's like
I just have come to realize that this is who he is," detailed Janelle
"'He's going to be kind of that dad who shows up and we have a lot of fun and then he's gone
"I'm just so frustrated with Kody," she lamented
I have several women I've worked with over the years who divorced
and then the father just goes MIA with the kids."
Gabe Said He'd Be Fine Never Seeing Kody Again
"Gabriel took it very hard because Kody was someone who would take Gabriel with him on business trips," described Janelle
saying that Kody was "a totally engaged father" up until the past few years
And while Gabriel is somewhat flummoxed over what he did to anger his father
"I told Dad that if he doesn't change and he can't take accountability
And I'm perfectly OK with that."
"He's at peace that his dad is not in his life
that's what I hope for all of my kids
And I think they're all getting here."
"I'm really sorry that Gabriel feels that way," he shared in a confessional
"I have reached out to him multiple times only to get rejected
But it wasn't from a lack of trying on my part."
Meri may have been the last wife to leave Kody
but she officially divided their love in late 2022
by requesting—and receiving—what their church calls a release
"I know he doesn't like that word," she noted on the Oct
"because he doesn't feel like he abandoned me
she feels he basically ignored her until she made the decision to leave "so that he could say
And Kody didn't totally deny that he had a bit of a strategy
"I had moved on a long time ago," he explained in a confessional
I was afraid of what she would do if I ripped off that Band-Aid
It's because Meri was never loyal to me
That's what I've been worried about
"It's really just sad that Kody's talking about our marriage the way that he's talking about it," she said
"It feels like the narrative has changed with him
but the things that he's saying about me to other people and the people are believing are not true."
Christine Realized Kody Wasn't a Good Match Years Ago
she realized they weren't a good match on paper
thanks to an exercise proposed by their Las Vegas-based marriage and family therapist
Tasked with making a list of qualities she wanted in a husband
Christine wrote down that she was seeking a good communicator
someone who would be present in her and her children's lives and someone who was attracted to her
"And Kody wasn't any of the things on the list," she revealed on the Oct
"I told him the list and he's like
'I'm not any of those things for you.’ I said
The missive was part of the reason she knew so quickly that now-husband David Woolley was her person
"Family is his most important thing to him," she gushed of the widowed dad of eight
"He's owned his own drywall business
He has a reputation of being honest and real with people and he's really a great communicator."
Sister Wives’ star Janelle Brown recalled her final conversation son Garrison
before the 25-year-old died by suicide on March 5
When Mark Pope recruited Brandon Garrison to the Kentucky Wildcats last offseason
Garrison showed flashes of what he could be
the staff believes that he can become a “superstar” for the Wildcats
he is hungry right now,” Pope said in a recent interview with CBS college basketball insider Jon Rothstein
“He’s a McDonald’s All-American who had an unbelievable first year at Oklahoma State as a freshman
then clearly took a massive jump forward last year
“I think he’s ready to emerge as a superstar
He understands how huge this summer is for him
Pope is a big proponent of roster continuity and believes that a consistent environment can help players grow
“I think it’s a key to big success,” Pope said of roster continuity
“There’s nothing like getting older with your own guys
my guys (in their) second year take a massive leap.”
One can point to Jaxson Robinson as a player that Kentucky fans may be familiar with who made such a jump under Pope
there are a number of players who have done so
Can Garrison be the latest player to join that list

the 55-year-old ex-wife of Kody Brown lost her 25-year-old son on March 5
Now on the latest episode of TLC show Sister Wives
who moved to North Carolina to stay close to her eldest daughter
The mother of six revealed that at that time
she was in contact with Garrison and they were "texting all day long
And this was not unusual because he and I talked probably three times a day."
"I knew he was struggling" with anxiety and depression "and I always just picked up the phone and I always make it a point to just talk to him."
the conversation did not include anything extraordinary; "it was just
Janelle admitted that she was not alarmed when Garrison stopped replying to her texts
“he would go through periods where he was really good and then he just would have a binge just as part of the cycle.”
She went to bed at around 8:30 pm and called her other two children
'Will you guys see if Garrison will respond to you?' And so they were on it
We'll just kind of check on him and make sure he's OK.’”
Janelle fell asleep peacefully and never imagined receiving a call
"I don't remember the next few minutes but I got in the car and drove,” the devastated mother added
Janelle explained Garrison’s mental health condition to her younger sister Carrie by saying
"He had anxiety and depression and then he started drinking as a way to sort of soothe that,” which "became the animal he couldn't get a hold of."
"Kody and I decided that we would cremate him
And that way it gives us the opportunity to have the funeral at a better time of year,” Janelle noted
Kody Brown is mourning the loss of his son Garrison's death and not getting a chance “to make things right” before his passing
who shared his son with ex-wife Janelle Brown
opened up about their complex family dynamic after more than a year of his son’s demise
“I just don't know what to do with his death
I've got to do something different because I could have had more time with him
I thought there would be more time,” he noted
who has 18 children with Robyn and his three ex-wives
was not on good terms with “90 to 95 percent of his children,” as per Janelle
It was no different for Garrison and his 23-year-old brother and their relationship with their father got worse during the COVID-19 pandemic due to strict rules Kody and his wife Robyn imposed
Now navigating grief after Garrison’s tragic and sudden death
the Brown family patriarch admitted that his perspective on his past behaviour has changed
How do I do the rest of my life with every holiday and every birthday?”
‘Don't get caught in that what-if train.’ I'm going to because that's part of the process for me,” he mentioned
It is pertinent to mention that Garrison ended his life by committing suicide at the age of 25 on March 5
Janelle Brown recently got candid and reflected on her son Garrison’s struggle with alcohol
the 55-year-old reality TV star who shares all six children – Hunter Brown
and Aspyn Brown – with Kody Brown talked about her deceased son Garrison’s alcohol struggles in recent years
Garrison departed from life by committing suicide at the age of 25 on March 5
She stated that he continued to struggle despite having the support of his loved ones
It wasn't that he didn't have those things,” the grieving mother said
“I don't know what happened that night he did that
Because he's had other nights like this where he would drink and then pass out and he would go kind of radio silent
I don't know what happened this time,” Janelle noted
she spoke to her sister Carrie over the phone and talked about Garrison’s struggles
And then just became the animal he couldn't get a hold of
Janelle went on to shed light on how she navigates her grief even after a year of her son’s tragic death
The VE Day 80 parade proves that anything is possible when people work together with a common cause
the Garrison Sergeant Major of London District has said
WO1 Andrew "Vern" Stokes pointed out how members of the Armed Forces would be on parade alongside personnel from the Commonwealth
GSM Stokes is the most senior NCO in London District and is responsible for organising military ceremonies in the capital
And we are all custodians of delivering that reputation
We're asking quite a lot of our Armed Forces personnel
Marching and standing still takes its toll mentally and physically on those taking part
"The march procession is just over 1.2 miles so
it's not insignificant," the GSM explained
"And really making sure that our kit and equipment is up to standard
to make sure we've got all our timings right
when you've got something starting with the chimes of Big Ben at midday
So there's a lot of pressure on timings and really I've been keeping a tight eye on that
who has served almost 40 years in the Army
said he had been inspired by the Second World War generation
"World War Two was a huge event involving millions and millions of people
Just over my left shoulder is the Guards Chapel
less than 81 years ago that was hit by a V-1.
"In the congregation over 100 of them were killed
including military musicians and soldiers and sailors and airmen
but across the country and also all of our Armed Forces
"It was also a display of what it means to be part of an alliance
And you'll see that on parade today as well
"So we've got Commonwealth soldiers on parade
we've got Nato allies on parade and we've got Ukrainian soldiers on parade
"And it's just a demonstration that when you are together
you are much stronger – and anything is possible."

Garrison’s 1829 speech was first published in the National Philanthropist and Investigator newspaper over two editions (July 22 and 29
and later reprinted in the biography William Lloyd Garrison
1805–1879: The Story of His Life Told by His Children (c
The same transcript was published in Old South Leaflets
It is natural that the return of a day which established the liberties of a brave people should be hailed by them with more than ordinary joy; and it is their duty as Christians and patriots to celebrate it with signal tokens of thanksgiving
thrones which were seemingly propped up with Atlantean pillars; it gave an impulse to the heart of the world
Visit the Library of Congress to read a digitized version of “Garrison’s First Anti-slavery Address in Boston,” published in Old South Leaflets (1907)
[From the National Philanthropist and Investigator’s reporting on the speech: The orator then proceeded to speak of the degeneracy of the national jubilee, from an occasion distinguished for rationality of feeling and purity of purpose to a day marked by reckless and profligate behavior
and the foolish assumption that no dangers could ever assail or threaten the republic
the compulsory desecration of the “holy Sabbath,” the ravages of intemperance
were all sources of danger and causes for alarm; and he briefly considered them before he took up slavery
or to visit them merely as a matter of form
without carefully investigating the merits of candidates
The republic does not bear a charmed life: our prescriptions
administered through the medium of the ballot-box—the mouth of the political body—may kill or cure
according to the nature of the disease and our wisdom in applying the remedy
It is possible that a people may bear the title of freemen who execute the work of slaves
To the dullest observers of the signs of the times
it must be apparent that we are rapidly approximating to this condition
our supplications for the pardon and assistance of Heaven
involving the reputation of a distinguished citizen
There was a struggle for mastery between two giants
a test of strength in tossing mountains of law
I stand up here in a more solemn court, to assist in a far greater cause; not to impeach the character of one man
but of a whole people; not to recover the sum of a hundred thousand dollars
but to obtain the liberation of two millions of wretched
over whose sufferings scarcely an eye weeps
I regret that a better advocate had not been found
to enchain your attention and to warm your blood
there is no flaw in the indictment; what the speaker lacks
Sirs, I am not come to tell you that slavery is a curse
The day and the occasion require no such revelation
that “all men are created equal,” and that among their inalienable rights are “life
and the pursuit of happiness.” Were I addressing any other than a free and Christian assembly
the enforcement of this truth might be pertinent
Neither do I intend to analyze the horrors of slavery for your inspection
nor to freeze your blood with authentic recitals of savage cruelty
Nor will time allow me to explore even a furlong of that immense wilderness of suffering which remains unsubdued in our land
I take it for granted that the existence of these evils is acknowledged
My object is to define and enforce our duty
On a subject so exhaustless it will be impossible
to unfold all the facts which are necessary to its full development
In view of it my heart swells up like a living fountain
Let this be considered as the preface of a noble work
which your inventive sympathies must elaborate and complete
I assume as distinct and defensible propositions:—
and then withdraw; but it perpetually overflows
It is restricted only the exact number of God’s suffering creatures
while we are aiding and instructing foreigners
we ought not to forget our own degraded countrymen; that neither duty nor honesty requires us to defraud ourselves
In her public services they are seldom remembered
and in her private donations they are forgotten
From one end of the country to the other her charitable societies form golden links of benevolence
and scatter their contributions like raindrops over a parched heath; but they bring no sustenance to the perishing slave
The clankings of the prisoner’s chains strike upon her ear
and it is a crime of the blackest dye to load them with fetters
I am sick of our unmeaning declamation in praise of liberty and equality
of our hypocritical cant about the unalienable rights of man
and denounce the usurpations of a kingly government as wicked and unjust; or
the recollection of my country’s barbarity and despotism would blister my lips
and cover my cheeks with burning blushes of shame
Will this be termed a rhetorical flourish
Will any man coldly accuse me of intemperate zeal
a ray of humanity from one of the brightest stars in our American galaxy
whose light will gather new effulgence to the end of time
is a cause that would be dishonored and betrayed if I contented myself with appealing only to the understanding
and its processes are too slow for the occasion
since he has given me an intellect so fallible
he has impressed upon me an instinct that is sure
On a question of shame and honor—liberty and oppression—reasoning is sometimes useless
I feel the decision in my pulse: if it throws no light upon the brain
I come to my second proposition,—the right of the free States to remonstrate against the continuance
I ask no support from the injunction of Holy Writ
“Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you
do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.” I throw aside the common dictates of humanity
I assert the right of the free States to demand a gradual abolition of slavery
and are threatened with ultimate destruction; because they are bound to watch over the interests of the whole country without reference to territorial divisions; because their white population is nearly double that of the slave States
and the voice of this overwhelming majority should be potential; because they are now deprived of their just influence in the councils of the nation; because it is absurd and anti-republican to suffer property to be represented as men
and vice versa; because it gives the South an unjust ascendancy over other portions of territory
and a power that may be perverted on every occasion
when the emergency that imposed them has long since passed away; if we must share in the guilt and danger of destroying the bodies and souls of men
as the price of our Union; if the slave States will haughtily spurn our assistance
and refuse to consult in the general welfare,—then the fault is not ours if a separation eventually take place
It may be objected that the laws of the slave States form insurmountable barriers to any interference on our part
Is Christianity so powerful that she can tame the red men of our forests
and liberate lands over which the darkness of Superstition has lain for ages
that she can make no impression upon her civil code
Can she contend successfully with cannibals
Suppose that, by a miracle, the slaves should suddenly become white. Would you shut your eyes upon their sufferings, and calmly talk of Constitutional limitations
your voice would peal in the ears of the taskmasters like deep thunder; you would carry the Constitution by force
if it could not be taken by treaty; patriotic assemblies would congregate at the corners of every street; the old Cradle of Liberty would rock to a deeper tone than ever echoed therein at British aggression; the pulpit would acquire new and unusual eloquence from our holy religion
that these white slaves are degraded would not then obtain
It is enough that they are white and in bondage
You would multiply your schools of instruction and your temples of worship
It can never be done unless the age of miracles returns
We shall have to contend with the insolence and pride and selfishness of many a heartless being
But these can be easily conquered by meekness and perseverance and prayer
We are (they say) their “white slaves,” afraid of our own shadows
who have been driven back to the wall again and again; who stand trembling under their whips; who turn pale
at a talismanic threat to dissolve the Union
It may disappear for a time; but it lives in some shape or other
In the simple and stirring language of the stout-hearted Lundy
“all the friends of the cause must go to work
If it be still objected that it would be dangerous to liberate the present race of blacks
worth the desperate struggle of a thousand years
The nation will be shaken as if by a mighty earthquake
will go up to heaven in the darkness of midnight
Blood will flow like water,—the blood of guilty men and of innocent women and children
Then will be heard lamentations and weeping
such as will blot out the remembrance of the horrors of St
The terrible judgments of an incensed God will complete the catastrophe of republican America
And since so much is to be done for our country; since so many prejudices are to be dispelled
blessings obtained; since the cause of emancipation must progress heavily
and meet with much unhallowed opposition,—why delay the work
There must be a beginning and now is a propitious time,—perhaps the last opportunity that will be granted us by a long-suffering God
Let us not look coldly on and see our Southern brethren contending single-handed against an all-powerful foe,—faint
New England money has been expended in buying human flesh; New England ships have been freighted with sable victims; New England men have assisted in forging the fetters of those who groan in bondage
I call upon the churches of the living God to lead in this great enterprise
Let them pour out their supplications to Heaven in behalf of the slave
Prayer is omnipotent: its breath can melt adamantine rocks
Let anti-slavery charity-boxes stand uppermost among those for missionary
On this subject Christians have been asleep: let them shake off their slumbers
I call upon our New England women to form charitable associations to relieve the degraded of their sex
As yet an appeal to their sympathies was never made in vain
Females are doing much for the cause of at the South: let their example be imitated
I call upon our citizens to assist in establishing auxiliary colonization societies in every State
I implore their direct and liberal patronage to the parent society
I call upon the great body of newspaper editors to keep this subject constantly before their readers; to sound the trumpet of alarm
and to plead eloquently for the rights of man
They must give the tone to public sentiment
One press may ignite twenty; a city may warm a State; a State may impart a generous heat to the whole country
I conjure them to select those as Representatives who are not too ignorant to know
All the selfishness of our nature cries aloud for a better security
shall we be able to contend successfully with millions of armed and desperate men

play a pivotal role in promoting awareness and celebrating Black excellence
Through initiatives like hosting community events such as the Soccer & Soar program, collaborating with organizations like Urban Alliance
and amplifying important social justice movements
United is constantly exploring new ways to use its platform for positive change
United sat down with defender Garrison Tubbs to discuss his thoughts and share his insights about Black History Month
In his second professional season with D.C
Tubbs spoke at length about what Black History Month means to him and the role that professional athletes have as advocates in the community
What does Black History Month mean to you personally
“Black History Month can be split into two different categories
One is the reflection of how far we've come as a community
It's a reflection on the civil rights movement
all the people that have fought hard and died for the rights and freedoms of the Black community
And then there's the other half which is a celebration
It's really important to celebrate the heritage and Black culture as a whole
And obviously there's many different subcategories within Black culture here in the in the United States
but I think it's extremely important for us as a nation
to celebrate all the different aspects of Black culture and heritage.”
has evolved in terms of representation for Black athletes over the years
“There was a time when Black individuals weren't allowed to play the sport
It always starts with the integration piece where there’s always going to be the first Black athlete to break into the sport and deal with all the adversity that comes with it
Then more Black people can use that pioneer’s experience to find comfort and express themselves
I think that's a big thing with Black athletes
A lot of Black athletes use sports as an avenue to express themselves
and I think that's the next piece in growing the sport for Black athletes
I have gotten to the point where I am today and gone up the ladder from youth soccer to collegiate soccer and to now professional soccer
Being in the position where young Black athletes can look up to me
it makes me think back to when I was younger
and I was looking up to Black athletes and thinking
I could really see myself filling those shoes and being in that position later in life
And it's really rewarding now to be in that position and to be the player that the younger generation can look up to.”
Can you share any personal stories or moments when you’ve felt particularly proud of your heritage as a Black player in soccer
“One of the biggest moments for me was my senior night at Wake Forest
Those were big moments for me in my career
but also for my heritage and the Black community
That goes back to all the work that went in behind the scenes
There's a lot of adversity over the years that I've gone through
which is extremely important to get me to where I am today
And I love looking back at those photos from those two nights and kind of reminiscing on all the little and big aspects that go into making those moments a reality
especially being in a sport that is not Black dominated here in the United States
Who were some of your role models or Black athletes growing up
and how did they inspire your journey into soccer
I think back to some American players that I used to watch growing up
They helped drive this dream of mine to become a professional soccer player
and that it was possible for a young Black kid to grow up and achieve those dreams
but another person outside of the soccer world that I really looked up to is LeBron James
All of the athletic accolades that he's gained over the years is truly tremendous
but when you think about all the other things that he's done for social change and the community
while also being at the top of his game every single night and being the father and husband that he is to his kids and wife
it's something that I've always truly looked up to
You think about the funding for all the schools in Akron and Ohio
how important is it for Black athletes to speak out on social issues
“It’s extremely important every month but especially during Black History Month
Professional athletes are in a unique situation where they have a real voice
to use the voice that they've been given for good
and I think Black athletes play a huge role in that education
It's something that I've always been passionate about
speaking out about issues that I think are important
and it's something that I'll always continue to be a part of
It's a blessing that I've been given this position where I have a voice and it’s extremely important to use it.”
“I think Black excellence refers to the embodiment of resiliency and perseverance through adversity while also pursuing greatness
Black people have been constrained by the majority on what they're capable of
Black excellence is bursting through those constraints
and always striving for greatness in everything they do
we as a community can all move forward together.”
