It’s time to dust off your summer wardrobe and stock up on sun cream: summer festival season is almost upon us
the sheer amount of choice can feel overwhelming
That’s why The Independent’s culture team has rounded up some of the best UK music festivals for 2025
assessing both the lineup and what else is on offer at each of our picks
For something a bit more down-to-earth, you could try the splendour of the Brecon Beacons, which serves as the location for Green Man Festival, or the beautiful woodlands of Larmer Tree Gardens, where End of the Road takes place
Seeking sun and fun? The Great Escape festival is a mecca for anyone who loves to be “first” when it comes to the hottest new bands
rappers or singer-songwriters and happens to take place on the bustling Brighton seaside
Victorious is hosting some major rock bands right next door to a pier and funfair in Portsmouth
you’re destined for a rollicking good time
You can also catch singer Skin in a keynote conversation about her astonishing career with yours truly on the Friday morning
London’s joyful celebration of all things pop has
pulled off perhaps the UK’s first ever all-female lineup of headliners
Whether you’re charmed by the adventurous stylings of former Little Mix star turned solo artist JADE
or the vocal powerhouse that is Eurovision champion Loreen
there’s plenty to keep you dancing through the weekend
Further fun arrives in the shape of Queertopia
a specially crafted stage that will host up and comers within the queer space
from Turkish artist INJI to electronic artist Hannah Diamond
Londoners, rejoice. The Mercury Prize-winning artist Little Simz has selected a swelteringly good lineup for Meltdown, her 11-day festival at the Southbank Centre this summer. The programme is a refreshing and carefully curated collection of some of the best British and international talent, including grime legend Ghetts, American musician Jon Batiste, The Streets and “Messy” star Lola Young
They’ll be joined by British R&B star Mahalia
Canadian jazz/hip-hop collective BADBADNOTGOOD
Mercury Prize-winning musician James Blake and British-Colombian singer-songwriter Sasha Keable
And fear not: Simz herself will be performing with the Chineke
Orchestra for an unmissable concert on the festival’s closing night

The rest of the bill is characteristically stacked: Charli XCX, Rod Stewart, Loyle Carner, Kneecap, Doechii, Gracie Abrams, Wet Leg, Busta Rhymes and Alanis Morissette are just a minor handful of the names here; acts for all ages, all tastes, and all festival mindsets. It’s one of the great pleasures of Glastonbury as a whole
Whether you wish to go hard or dawdle about in the sun
the sheer scale of the thing means that you can happily take it all at your own speed
And enjoy Glasto while it lasts – the festival is taking 2026 off for one of its fallow years
including “Espresso” and “Bed Chem” from her Grammy-winning sixth album
One of the UK’s most family-friendly festivals is offering a nostalgia trip for the Eighties and Nineties crowd
plus special guests Basement Jazz and Elbow
Set in the picturesque grounds of Henham Park
guests are encouraged to explore Latitude’s treasure trove of music
For the wide-eyed toddlers or curious teens in your family
there’s plenty to entertain – from the Enchanted Garden to the dedicated Kids Area
where young music fans can get stuck into workshops
The brainchild of music specialist Rob da Bank and creative director Josie da Bank, Camp Bestival includes performances by an eclectic lineup of musicians and dancers as well as plenty of fun for the family, from circus skills to science explorations, family raves, comedy, evening cabaret and immersive theatre. This year’s event is being headlined by Basement Jaxx
who will bring their full live show to guests for the first time in a decade
They’ll be joined by legendary Welsh crooner Tom Jones and pop trio Sugababes
along with rock band The Lightning Seeds and Noughties sensations The Zutons
Green Man’s reliably eclectic but carefully curated lineup tends to attract both discerning music fans and families looking for some fresh air and spectacular views of the Welsh mountains
The “everyone is welcome” ethos means you’ll be able to enjoy sets from headliners Wet Leg
American artist Perfume Genius and rising Scottish star Jacob Alon
Further headline performances will come from Brooklyn rock outfit TV on the Radio
Potentially the only festival in Europe where you can take in a set by Supergrass and then head over to an erotica writing workshop, Wilderness has long worn its bougie credentials on its sleeve
from the legitimately breathtaking countryside views on offer
to the sheer range of choice for your daily activities: horseback riding
Låpsley and Confidence Man are among the major names
along with appearances by two esteemed greats of electronica: Orbital and Air
With headliners including pop’s new reigning queen Chappell Roan
Irish folk-rock artist Hozier and rapper Travis Scott
naysayers might grumble that Reading and Leeds have abandoned their roots as a rock festival
We’d argue that they’ve finally got with the times and acknowledged the broader music tastes of today’s young’uns
but you’ll also get to see “Messy” singer Lola Young
rapper AJ Tracey and and Australian upstarts Amyl and the Sniffers
but one that will certainly ensure there won’t be a lull all weekend
All Points East’s lineup is so massive they have to spread the festival across two weekends
making it sort of like London’s answer to California’s Coachella – just with fewer influencers
with opening weekend catering to electronic and house fans (Chase and Status
while the second Saturday is dominated by many of 2025’s most successful female artists: RAYE
Doechii and former Little Mix member turned solo star
organisers have employed heavy levels of indie nostalgia
Bombay Bicycle Club and The Cribs for the closing Sunday
Get your skinny jeans and trilby hats ready
Retro festival Victorious has outdone itself this year with major rock bands Kings of Leon
Queens of the Stone Age and Vampire Weekend headlining over the bank holiday weekend
Soak up the sun with a soundtrack provided by Michael Kiwanuka
Craig David and Rizzle Kicks will provide some high-energy nostalgia to keep you dancing
along with Spice Girls legend Melanie C and The Streets’ Mike Skinner
who’ll be on the decks spinning some of your favourite tunes
Ruby Wax and Strictly Come Dancing winner and funnyman Chris McCausland will be there too
thanks to the funfair and pier located right next to the festival site

His appearance on the Park Stage in June will mark his first time ever performing at the festival
Gary Numan has announced two warm-up gigs in Brighton ahead of Glastonbury 2025
The musician is set to take to the Park Stage at Worthy Farm on June 28
marking his first time ever playing the festival in his five-decade career
“As part of the build up” to his debut Glastonbury slot
he’s now announced two intimate shows at Brighton’s Concorde 2 on June 24 and 25
General tickets, Meet & Greet packages, as well as rehearsal VIP tickets can be found here.

It’ll mark his second time topping the bill at the farm
This came after the news that Rod Stewart would be taking on the coveted Legend Slot on the Pyramid Stage on Sunday afternoon
The 1975 and Olivia Rodrigo will be headlining this year – gracing the Pyramid on Friday and Sunday, respectively. Closing the Other Stage will be Loyle Carner (Friday), Charli XCX (Saturday) and The Prodigy (Sunday)
You can see the whole line-up for 2025’s edition of the festival so far, as well as all the stage splits, here
The world’s defining voice in music and pop culture: breaking what’s new and what’s next since 1952
Ellie Henman
I can reveal that Oscar-nominee Timothee Chalamet is being lined up to make a surprise appearance at next month’s Glastonbury Festival
But rather than take to the Pyramid Stage before 200,000 fans
Timothée is likely to opt for the more humble Acoustic Stage
the tent only has space for a few thousand people
I’m told Timothée, will perform with Bob Dylan tribute band Not Completely Unknown
The group are billed to appear on Saturday
During the biopic Timothée is seen singing and performing some of Bob’s biggest hits himself, rather than simply miming to them. The actor had originally pre-recorded the vocals, but bosses ditched them in favour of live vocals during each take after hearing him sing on set.
Timothée said: “It was important for me to sing and play live.
“Because if I can actually do it, why should there be an element of artifice here?
He added: “To watch actors do karaoke really isn’t that interesting.”
He plays both the piano and the guitar in the hit movie, which was nominated for eight Oscars
Earlier this year Timothée performed several Dylan songs on the popular American TV show Saturday Night Live
As well as Dylan’s 1965 track Outlaw Blues
the actor also performed Three Angels and Tomorrow Is a Long Time
This year’s Glastonbury festival looks set to be another vintage year with Olivia Rodrigo, The 1975 and Neil Young all set to perform headline sets
Sir Rod Stewart will follow in the footsteps of Shania Twain, Kylie Minogue and Dolly Parton and take on the famous Legend slot on Sunday afternoon
Seeing Timothée in action down at Worthy Farm would be epic, and if his girlfriend Kylie Jenner also makes it over to Somerset to watch him perform then we could well be looking at Glastonbury history
THINGS are getting serious with Madonna and her toyboy partner Akeem Morris
as she threw him a lavish 29th birthday party at the weekend
They looked loved-up in snaps shared on Instagram and he made his feelings towards the Queen of Pop clear by referring to her as “wifey.”
“It meant so much to have the people I love and respect all in one room
and the energy in the room was nothing but love.”
She laid on a bash in a private bar in New York
which was attended by four of her six children – David
and twins Estere and Stella – and got YG Marley to perform a special set
whose track Praise Jah In The Moonlight was a hit last year
is the son of The Fugees’ Lauryn Hill and Rohan Marley
Madonna wrote on Instagram: “Happy Birthday to my favorite Taurus,” to which Akeem replied: “I LOVE YOU.”
THE Met Gala was held in the early hours of this morning
giving celebrities the chance to wear their wackiest outfits and pass them off as high fashion
But South African singer Tyla got in on the act early when she wore this glaring orange and black dress with a gigantic matching hat
which I’m surprised even fit inside the car she had just hopped out of
The Water singer used the streets as her catwalk while out in New York
as she has just announced that her new single
Tyla will be over here in August when she performs at the All Points East Festival in London in a line-up featuring Raye
Here’s hoping that she’s in something a bit less constricting when she takes to the stage
EUROVISION might be as fun as pulling teeth for some people and for Norway’s act Kyle Alessandro
Moments after completing his first rehearsal on stage in Basel on Sunday
Kyle was rushed to hospital to have one of his wisdom teeth taken out
which he will perform at next Tuesday’s first semi-final
he wrote on Instagram: “One tooth lighter.”
His team said he could barely open his mouth because he was in so much pain before the operation
UK act Remember Monday have their first rehearsal this Thursday
but are now 14th favourites with their song What The Hell Just Happened
LADY GAGA played the most-attended gig ever by a female artist when she headlined Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach on Saturday
It’s claimed Beyonce is already in talks to follow suit and play a mega show there next year
Gaga’s concert was put on for free by the city in a bid to boost the economy
with it believed to have brought £75million to the area
Now locals will be hoping Bey signs on the dotted line and they can see her for free too – even if it is from miles away
I was impressed by the sheer number of people who came to Gaga’s show
but I for one know I’d have hated to have been at the back of that crowd
MAROON 5’s Adam Levine was one lucky man, getting to work – and pose – with Blackpink's Lisa
She looked amazing in a snakeskin dress in the artwork for their new collaboration Priceless, which came out on Friday and earned the band their biggest first day ever on the Spotify chart when it was streamed 2.48million times in 24 hours
Lisa insisted a new Blackpink record is “coming soon” – their first since 2022’s Born Pink – ahead of a summer tour including two nights at Wembley Stadium
She added: “We were in the studio a few days ago.”
DUA LIPA’s Radical Optimism world tour is yet to hit the UK
but the star is already working on her follow-up record
The Training Season singer has spent the last few days in the studio in New York and shared snaps of her time there on Instagram
During her time in the Big Apple, she also attended an intimate gig by Miley Cyrus
who she previously worked with on the track Prisoner – although I’m not expecting another collaboration
Dua kicks off her tour again on Sunday in Madrid before reaching London, Liverpool and Dublin next month
I doubt we will have any new tunes by then
but it gives me hope that there might be something to hear next year
once her global jaunt finally ends in December
FLORENCE PUGH has a box-office hit on her hands

Kneecap are at the centre of a media storm but - as the bands Sleaford Mods
if they are removed from the bill at Glastonbury
that will set a precedent for creative self-censorship

In their relatively short tenure in the public eye, Irish language rap trio Kneecap have become possibly the most controversial
genuinely disruptive musical group since the Sex Pistols
There has been a near universally-acclaimed album
and - far less predictably - a Michael Fassbender-starring band biopic that won them the Sundance Film Festival Audience Award and a clutch of Bafta nominations
But drowning out their considerable artistic achievements has been a constant slew of headlines and think pieces decrying them as either a national threat or vital truth-tellers
Now, arguments around Kneecap’s politics have escalated into a far wider conversation around freedom of expression in the arts, and how, when or if ever it is acceptable for that to be policed. Amidst cries for the trio to be removed from this year’s Glastonbury line-up
artists and industry figures have rallied to call out the dangers of censorship
English Teacher and IDLES co-signing a letter from the band’s label Heavenly Recordings around the “clear
concerted effort to deplatform Kneecap… and remove them from the public eye”
no political figures or political parties should have the right to dictate who does and does not play at music festivals or gigs that will be enjoyed by thousands of people
The question of agreeing with Kneecap’s political views is irrelevant: it is in the key interests of every artist that all creative expression be protected in a society that values culture
and that this interference campaign is condemned and ridiculed.”
It’s not the first time that the trio - Mo Chara
Móglaí Bap and DJ Próvaí - have found themselves at the centre of a media furore
they made headlines after taking legal action over Conservative party leader Kemi Badenoch’s attempts to block government arts funding to them
with Badenoch stating that taxpayers’ money should not be given to “people who oppose the United Kingdom itself”
A reaction against Kneecap’s political missives
which had previously included the release of 2019 single ‘Get Your Brits Out’ (a repurposing of the IRA slogan) and a tour poster featuring a cartoon of Boris Johnson strapped to the side of a rocket
Kneecap countered that the block was a breach of the Good Friday agreement allowing freedom of expression for all sides in Northern Ireland and subsequently won the case
donating the original £14,250 funding to two Belfast youth charities
Following their recent Coachella appearance last month
the heat around them has risen to a critical mass
Projecting a series of statements onto the screen behind them
the trio weren’t the only people to offer pro-Palestinian messages at the California event (artists including headliners Green Day
Amyl and the Sniffers and more also spoke out)
but they were the ones who pointed the finger with the most ferocity
“Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian people” read one slide
“It is being enabled by the US government who arm and fund Israel despite their war crimes.” “Fuck Israel
Though Kneecap have been vocally condemning the actions in Gaza for a long time now
also projecting ‘Free Palestine’ messages and bringing Palestinian flags onto the stage during their early morning Glastonbury slot on the Woodsies stage last year
Detractors have dug up a pair of inflammatory videos from 2023 and 2024 which have led
amongst fervent discourse around the globe
to a forthcoming investigation by the Metropolitan Police’s counter-terrorism unit
the band appear to say “The only good Tory is a dead Tory
It is, of course, impossible to justify either of these moments. A statement released by Kneecap apologising to the families of murdered MPs Jo Cox and David Amess does not stop the original sentiment’s shocking irresponsibility
But it does show that the band take accountability and can see the line between a belief and a mistake
Kneecap are hands down the three most caring men we've ever met
Having recently toured the US with Kneecap
Laurie Vincent of UK punk duo SOFT PLAY expresses the need to discern the difference
“Kneecap have been careless with some of their wording in the past and that is something they are paying for hugely now
and I am so tired of a world where forgiveness is so easily forgotten,” he tells us
“The energy of a moment has made people do stupid things since the dawn of time
However the real issue is the one of bombs dropping on innocent children's heads: the issue that is being obscured even more from view as the media decides to focus all of its attention on Kneecap instead.”
He continues: “Kneecap are hands down the three most caring men we've ever met in all our years of our touring
Their band has a cultural significance we haven't seen since the original punk bands of the late seventies
They are fearlessly tackling issues that many aren't brave enough to even get close to
To deplatform them would send a dangerous message to all those who follow.”
A string of Kneecap’s German shows have been cancelled
as has a forthcoming August festival headline at Cornwall’s Eden Project
security minister Dan Jarvis and Conservative former minister Mark Francois are putting pressure on Glastonbury Festival bosses Michael and Emily Eavis to remove Kneecap from the festival line-up next month
Neil Young and The 1975 headline the Pilton event
the decision would undoubtedly set a defining and divisive precedent for the UK arts but it would also feel monumental for the festival itself: an event that has long provided a fertile ground for political conversation
even donating its profits to the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament back in 1981
Kneecap's platform should not be revoked because the message encourages discussion
several artists used their slots at the festival to make statements
During IDLES’ Friday night Other Stage headline slot
an inflatable boat with dummy migrants was cast atop the crowd
During his surprise appearance with Bombay Bicycle Club
Damon Albarn urged crowds to vote before questioning: “Are you pro Palestine
Maybe it’s time we stopped putting octogenarians in charge of the whole world?”
“The political landscape in this country is dying and needs to resuscitate itself to the sounds of a changing humanity
and as creatives we shouldn’t be forced to self-censor in line with the general cultural [and] political narrative,” Sleaford Mods’ frontman Jason Williamson tells us
“Some individuals are rightly deserving of cancel culture’s creeping onslaught
truth is a questionable entity when it comes to the rabid frenzy of cancellation
The live stage is where we as musicians truly come alive
and Kneecap's platform should not be revoked simply because the message encourages discussion.”
Massive Attack published their own statement decrying the attempts to stop Kneecap from performing
“Do politicians and right-wing journalists strategically concocting moral outrage over the stage utterings of a young punk band
while simultaneously obfuscating or even ignoring a genocide happening in real time (including the killing of journalists in unprecedented numbers) have any right to intimidate festival events into acts of political censorship?” Meanwhile
musician Nadine Shah posted: “The story isn’t Kneecap
Kneecap are being made an example of to scare us into silence from speaking out
The Horrors’ Faris Badwan - whose father is Palestinian - underlined this idea
“People should always be free to hold the government to account
Glastonbury have yet to comment on the campaign or to confirm whether Kneecap will indeed play the festival
but much like the world’s reaction to their actions at Coachella
the story here isn’t about Kneecap playing this summer
The story is whether an internet pile-on will change the future of the arts for the long haul

we’ve put together the ultimate backpacker’s guide to Europe’s music festivals in 2025
Who hasn’t heard of Glastonbury before? Held in the green fields of Pilton, Somerset, it’s not just the UK’s biggest festival but also Europe’s
this tiny village in the south of England transforms into a pure musical playground with a sick lineup
Some would say Glastonbury is like a bunch of festivals thrown into one; it’s a pretty fair way to describe it
you’re boogying on down at a fiesta at Glasto Latino
Bring a big flag and stick it next to your tent; at least you’ll recognize it no matter what
pack your own snacks and save the cash for when the food trucks start calling your name at 2 am
What started as a small gathering on Óbudai-sziget — a leafy island right in the heart of Budapest — has grown into one of Europe’s most iconic festivals. Sziget simply rocks
and 2025 is shaping up to be its greatest one yet
with a whopping 95,000 people expected each day
You’ve got Post Malone and Chappell Roan taking to the stage and a new fan pit concept where you might even get to wave at your idols
so leave the coins behind and bring your card or use one of the wristbands if you don’t trust yourself
They’re also adding onsite supermarkets this year
meaning you’ll be able to dodge crazy bar prices entirely
Belgium’s Tomorrowland is the holy grail of all festivals
It’s the one event where electronic music lovers go absolutely berserk
I’m talking colorful fireworks and more confetti than your eyes can handle; intense is an understatement
Newbies who’ve just been introduced to the EDM scene might feel like it’s a bit much
With 16 stages across two weekends in July and a cracking schedule featuring the likes of Martin Garrix
it’s a once in a lifetime experience
it doesn’t mean you’re totally protected from the rain
A light jacket or a poncho will do the trick
and comfy shoes are essential for all the walking you’ll be doing
Tomorrowland dates: 18th to 20th and 25th to 27th of July
You may assume, judging by the name, that Rock en Seine is all guitars and drum bashing, but it’s way more diverse than that. Set in the urban parkland of the Château de Saint-Cloud on the western edge of Paris
this multi-day fest has the likes of A$AP Rocky and London Grammar penciled in for this summer
Don’t worry if you’re here for proper rock ‘n’ roll — well-known bands like Queens of the Stone Age will still be flying the flag
Despite the killer lineup and the hype around it from last year’s success
the daily crowd is capped at 40,000 visitors
which means you actually get space to breathe while dancing
so anyone with a car must leave it elsewhere in the city
and you’ll be dropped close enough to the entrance
Rock en Seine dates: 20th to 24th of August
Yeah, all you festivalgoers can calm the jets knowing Primavera Sound is returning to Barcelona for 2025
and it’s already got fans across Europe and way beyond buzzing with excitement
Primavera will have a little something for everyone at the seaside setting of Parc del Fòrum with big-name acts like Sabrina Carpenter and Charli XCX
You’ll be able to choose between full festival passes or day tickets — perfect if you’re only there for the headliners
Because there’s no campsite at Primavera Sound
I advise you to try staying in one of the quieter areas like Sant Andreu to save money
Primavera Sound Barcelona dates: 4th to 8th of June
After running you through the classic European festivals that cover every genre under the sun
let’s dive into the more niche side of things
Here are some events for people looking for something more tailored to their musical tastes
Tickets for festivals in Europe don’t come cheap
That’s unless you know all the cheeky hacks to find the bargains
Camping at the festival grounds is a nice way to save some cash
At least you don’t want to worry about overpaying for a cab back to somewhere in the city center
Not all festivals in Europe have this option available
but these are some of the main ones that do:
Planning a multi-country festival route takes a bit of work
but you’ll be well-equipped as long as you follow this process:
Traveling between festivals during the season can cost a leg and an arm because everyone is doing the same thing
It’s not like all the people going are local
many of the attendees come from all corners of the globe
and they all need to avail of the same services as you
Flights are the fastest way to move around Europe
if you stick to the classic budget airlines like Ryanair and Wizzair
but you need to keep an eye on the airfares
Kiwi’s price alerts travel hack is excellent for this because you’ll receive a notification every time there’s a price change
Although the long bus journeys can take it out of you, especially if you’ve had one too many the night before, they’re the most affordable type of transport. You’ll want to check websites like Flixbus
as they have the most extensive cross-border network in Europe
Provided you’re not hopping off every few hours
they’re a convenient way to get from A to B
but when you book an overnight train with a sleeper cabin
that’s a handy way to skip paying for a night’s accommodation
Make sure you book early because the beds sell up fast
you’ll have to crash on a regular seat
Car rentals can put a fair dent into your budget when you’re renting alone, but with a group, it can be fun and easy on the wallet. Then you have the hitchhikers who throw their thumbs out and hope for the best. It does work, but you must have patience and a lot of time on your hands.
In my experience, using a mix of trains, buses, and flights is the way to go. But when you’re in a rush or just downright exhausted, you’ll be glad to have that aisle seat on the plane. Europe’s insanely well-connected these days, with multiple daily routes between most major cities. Nabbing some amazing airfares has never been easier, thanks to Kiwi.
That’s a little taste of what Europe’s festival scene is serving up in 2025. Some absolute mega events are on the cards this year. And with all the tips and tricks we’ve packed into this guide, you’re more than ready to hop between as many of them as possible.

Music fans will have one final chance to get their hands on tickets to the festival this summer
Glastonbury 2025 tickets sold out in under an hour, but music fans will have one last chance to get to Worthy Farm during the annual resale
After unveiling the full lineup
organisers recently confirmed that this year’s resale will take place on Sunday 27 April for general admission tickets
will be made available at 11am (BST) on Sunday 27 April
If you manage to bag yourself resale tickets
you must pay for them in full at the point of booking: £378.50 plus a £5 booking fee for standard tickets
plus postage and packing at £10.25 per order (£2.75 for coach tickets)
International tickets can only be bought using a Visa Credit Card or Mastercard Credit Card
you might be offered other payment methods such as Google Pay and Apple Pay
just make sure you’re set up with the relevant service before the resale begins
Ahead of the inevitable frenzy when the ticket sale opens next week
Glastonbury’s organisers have offered a number of tips on how best to maximise your chances
After the hiccup with registration earlier this month
things should hopefully run more smoothly as tickets go on general sale on Sunday (19 November)
The last thing you need is your broadband failing at the precise moment the transaction is going through
You need to be on the tickets page on the Glastonbury website at precisely 6pm on Thursday 24 April
or 9am on Sunday 27 April for the general admission sale
and know the answers to any additional security questions you might be asked by your card issuer (this is likely if you’re buying multiple tickets)
If you plan on using a payment device such as Apple Pay or Google Pay
make sure it’s set up on your device before the sale begins
Accept the terms and conditions and make sure you complete the check out within the allocated time slot
Once you reach the payment page you will have five minutes to submit your payment information
so make sure you enter all the information accurately
The time remaining will be shown on the right hand side of your screen
It’s not over until the SOLD OUT sign appears on the Glastonbury website
So don’t freak out if you see a message notifying fans that “all available tickets have now been allocated”
but at least a few people end up running out of time..
meaning the tickets are up for grabs again
A word of caution: your registration numbers will be locked for up to five minutes if your details are entered incorrectly
an attempt to book is already held against your registration number
or your five minutes on the booking page ends
If the transaction fails and tickets are still available
your registration number will be released to give you the chance to try again
trying to buy tickets on multiple tabs could actually put you at risk of confusing the ticket sales process and result in a failed transaction
“We strongly advise that you use just one browser tab when trying to book tickets
in order to avoid possible problems with your transaction,” Glastonbury says
You can find more information about the Glastonbury resale here.
Belfast-formed hip-hop trio have been accused of ‘deflection’ by family members of slain MPs Jo Cox and David Amess
after they shared a fresh statement over alleged ‘kill your local MP’ clip
Irish hip-hop trio Kneecap have been dropped from the lineup of the Eden Project concert series
amid controversy over a clip allegedly showing a member of the group telling their audience to “kill your local MP”
The Belfast-formed band have denied inciting violence and said the clip was “deliberately taken out of context”, as they sent their “heartfelt apologies” to the families of murdered MPs Jo Cox and Sir David Amess
which organises the concerts at the Cornwall venue
said: “Eden Sessions Limited announced today that the Kneecap show at Eden Project scheduled for 4 July 2025 has been cancelled
“Ticket purchasers will be contacted directly and will be fully refunded
The refund process will commence from Wednesday 30 April 2025
Refunds will be processed against the original payment cards used
“Purchasers should allow six working days for funds to be received into their accounts.”
The cancellation comes as ministers raised questions on Tuesday (29 April) over Kneecap’s scheduled Glastonbury performance in June
Security minister Dan Jarvis said: “It is not for government ministers to say who is going to appear at Glastonbury
so the government would urge the organisers at the Glastonbury Festival to think very carefully about who is invited to perform there later this year.”
Conservative former minister Mark Francois claimed it would be “unconscionable” for Kneecap’s performance at Worthy Farm to go ahead
saying they “should surely be barred today”
In a statement posted to Instagram this week
the group comprising Liam Óg Ó Hannaidh (aka Mo Chara)
Naoise Ó Cairealláin (Móglaí Bap) and JJ Ó Dochartaigh (DJ Próvaí) said they rejected “any suggestion that we would seek to incite violence against any MP or individual”
“Kneecap’s message has always been – and remains – one of love
This is why our music resonates across generations
classes and cultures and has brought hundreds of thousands of people to our gigs
Footage from their past shows – including one in November 2023 that appeared to show one member saying: “The only good Tory is a dead Tory
Kill your local MP” – had been “exploited and weaponised as if it were a call to action”
Another clip of footage from a November 2024 concert appeared to show a Kneecap member shouting: “Up Hamas
Both groups are banned in the UK as terrorist organisations
The Metropolitan Police said both clips have been referred to the counterterrorism internet referral unit “for assessment and to determine whether any further police investigation may be required”
Katie Amess, daughter of Sir David, who was stabbed to death in 2021, rejected the band’s apology on Tuesday (29 April)
“These words that they are using are extremely dangerous and they have not acknowledged that.”
Brendan Cox, whose wife Jo Cox was murdered in 2016
said Kneecap’s statement of regret on Monday was “only half an apology” and lacked genuine reflection
“It’s fine to say that you’re sorry for it
but the way that they have actually spoken about it is to suggest that it’s a conspiracy
and for me that then doesn’t come across as
particularly genuine,” he told BBC Radio Ulster
I don’t think has grappled enough with the gravity of what they said,” he added
“It wasn’t a throwaway remark – it was a very clear incitement to violence.”
Downing Street also accused the apology to the MPs’ families of being “half-hearted”
“We completely reject in the strongest possible terms the comments that they’ve made
particularly in relationship to MPs and intimidation as well as obviously the situation in the Middle East,” the prime minister’s official spokesperson said
“It’s right that the police are looking into these videos.”
Kneecap caused additional controversy at Coachella Festival earlier this month after displaying messages that read: “Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian people”; “It is being enabled by the US government who arm and fund Israel despite their war crimes”; and “F*** Israel
In a statement last week, the band called out what they branded a “coordinated smear campaign” over their stance on Israel and Palestine, criticism of which they said was based on “deliberate distortions and falsehoods”.
The Independent has contacted Kneecap and Glastonbury representatives for comment.

Europe and the UK have stacks of festivals for all tastes and budgets
from free or low-budget bashes to high-end events
Those who missed out in the Glastonbury tickets scrum last November have two more chances to strike it lucky next week when the official resales take place
while from 9am on Sunday 27 April general admission tickets are up for grabs
These are tickets bought by people who can no longer attend or who were unable to pay what they owed
though with only a “very limited” number available
most Glastonbury fans are going to be disappointed
There are stacks of other festivals to suit all tastes and budgets
ranging from a one-dayer in London where tickets cost up to £380 each (almost £45 an hour)
to a number of free and low-cost events that are promising some decent acts
Glastonbury’s general admission tickets cost £248 each
That is a 50.6% rise in six years – roughly double the headline
increase in the cost of goods and services in the UK
But Glastonbury could probably charge a lot more than it does and still sell out
And those attending this year will get more for their money than a few years ago
the increase in ticket price is even greater: 52%
An adult weekend ticket was £202.50 in 2019 – this year it’s £308
View image in fullscreenFatboy Slim is one of the headliners at this year’s Latitude festival in Suffolk
where adult weekend ticket prices have risen by 52% since 2019
Photograph: Maja Smiejkowska/ShutterstockMeanwhile
the cost of an adult weekend ticket for the Isle of Wight festival has soared by almost 66% over the same period – from £175 in 2019 to £289.95 for non-islanders this year
These are all face-value costs; there may be fees and charges on top
with Glastonbury there is a £5 booking fee for each ticket
plus postage and packing at £10.25 an order
There are plenty of events still up for grabs across the rest of Europe – sometimes with better lineups and at a fraction of the price
on 10-12 July will set you back €199 (£171) – with Kings of Leon
Noah Kahan and Nine Inch Nails among the lineup
Primavera Sound Barcelona in Spain takes place on 4-8 June
Primavera Sound Porto in Portugal on 12-15 June

This year’s Barcelona event is sold out but tickets are available for the Porto edition
Massive Attack and Linkin Park at Open’er festival in Gdynia on the north coast of Poland on 2-5 July
A four-day ticket costs 1,359 Polish złoty (£272) with camping and 1,089 złoty without
you have to factor in travel costs and maybe also accommodation
but some people will be able to condense the cost of a festival and a holiday into one
We looked at flights from London to Gdansk
Return flights from Luton with Wizz Air started at just under £99 a person
Overseas festivals aren’t always cheaper than UK ones: a three-day general admission pass for last weekend’s Coachella festival in California, where Lady Gaga played an acclaimed set
while passes for this weekend start at $599
Organisers often rely on a small army of volunteers and workers performing various tasks – from being a parking steward or working the bar to giving people their wristbands or litter-picking – in exchange for a free ticket
A good starting point is to register with recruitment agencies that provide staff for festivals and other events
View image in fullscreenPeople pick up litter at the end of last year’s Glastonbury festival. Photograph: Ben Birchall/PAFestaff offers volunteering jobs at lots of weekend and one-day events
a five-day music festival in the South Downs national park
Festaff was no longer accepting applications for some of this year’s festivals but was still looking for people for a range of events including Kendal Calling in the Lake District (31 July to 3 August)
Neil Young at BST Hyde Park in London on 11 July
You may be expected to pay an administration fee or
with Festaff there is typically a £10 or £15 admin fee
and those volunteering at Glastonbury via the company had to put down a £375 deposit
to be returned minus a £15 admin fee if work is completed to a “good standard”
You will usually have plenty of free time to enjoy the event
DC Site Services also specialises in providing a range of festival and event staff
there are clearly plenty of music fans out there with cash to splash
is for members and their guests and costs up to £380 a person for one afternoon and evening’s entertainment
That is up almost 17% from £325 two years ago
The acts playing have not been announced yet
The price includes unlimited food and drinks
the Pop-Up Hotel offers a range of packages including the Tipi Tenthouse Suite
Festival Too: a free
over three weekends: 28-29 June; 4-5 July; and 11-12 July
Ocean Colour Scene and Sigala played last year
Godiva festival in War Memorial Park
Leigh folk festival in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, on 28-29 June. Here, typically almost all events are free, with the exception of some ticketed concerts.
Statement from Glastonbury’s social media said all tickets in the Sunday resale had been sold within 20 minutes of queues opening
Notifications can be managed in browser preferences.
General admission tickets to Glastonbury Festival 2025 sold out within 20 minutes of going on sale on Sunday (27 April)
leaving hundreds of fans gutted as they missed out on the chance to attend this year’s event at Worthy Farm
The festival’s annual resale began at 9am BST
where any remaining general admission tickets were made available to hopeful music fans
will be made available today at 11am (BST)
The number of tickets that are made available depended on how many people did not pay the full amount after putting down their deposits in November
Olivia Rodrigo, The 1975 and Neil Young are headlining Worthy Farm this year, with veteran rocker Rod Stewart taking the Legends’ slot
Other acts on the eclectic lineup include Charli XCX, RAYE, Doechii, Loyle Carner, Biffy Clyro, The Libertines, Gracie Abrams, Lola Young and Shaboozey.
Tickets to Glastonbury 2025 have officially SOLD OUT.

Already there are a lot of fans who are predicting the worst as they share screenshots of the dreaded loading bar:
Good luck to everyone trying to get their hands on the final tickets for Glastonbury 2025.
After the hiccup with registration earlier this month, things should hopefully run more smoothly as tickets go on general sale on Sunday (19 November).
1. A good internet connection. The last thing you need is your broadband failing at the precise moment the transaction is going through.
2. The time. You need to be on the tickets page on the Glastonbury website at precisely 6pm on Thursday 24 April, or 9am on Sunday 27 April for the general admission sale. So set your alarms!
3. Money at the ready. Make sure your correct bank details, including the right billing address, and know the answers to any additional security questions you might be asked by your card issuer (this is likely if you’re buying multiple tickets). If you plan on using a payment device such as Apple Pay or Google Pay, make sure it’s set up on your device before the sale begins.
Accept the terms and conditions and make sure you complete the check out within the allocated time slot. Once you reach the payment page you will have five minutes to submit your payment information, so make sure you enter all the information accurately. The time remaining will be shown on the right hand side of your screen.
4. It’s not over until the SOLD OUT sign appears on the Glastonbury website. So don’t freak out if you see a message notifying fans that “all available tickets have now been allocated”. That means the orders are being processed, but at least a few people end up running out of time... meaning the tickets are up for grabs again.
A word of caution: your registration numbers will be locked for up to five minutes if your details are entered incorrectly, an attempt to book is already held against your registration number, or your five minutes on the booking page ends. If the transaction fails and tickets are still available, your registration number will be released to give you the chance to try again.
5. Avoid multiple tabs. As stated on the Glastonbury website, trying to buy tickets on multiple tabs could actually put you at risk of confusing the ticket sales process and result in a failed transaction. “We strongly advise that you use just one browser tab when trying to book tickets, in order to avoid possible problems with your transaction,” Glastonbury says.

so you need to make sure you’re organised in advance – and that includes being registered
Glastonbury organisers advise hopeful fans to register by Friday 18 April to allow for the registration to be processed and resubmitted if necessary
you can use your existing registration number and don’t need to re-register
just make sure you check your details online before the deadline (5pm BST on Wednesday 23 April)
in case you need to provide any new details
Glastonbury organisers urge fans to purchase tickets only through official festival channels to avoid scams or unexpected charges
you can buy up to four tickets per transaction in the general admission resale on Sunday 27 April

you’ll need all their registration numbers and registered postcodes as well
The ticket and coach travel options sale on Thursday 24 April will be limited to two tickets per transaction
if you’re booking for yourself and one other person
make sure you have their registration details too
Besides the general resale, another great way to get into Glastonbury is by volunteering
Registration to volunteer for charities WaterAid and Oxfam have closed
but spaces do occasionally become available if people drop out
Registration is still open to volunteer with Greenpeace: anyone who is selected will be granted free entry to the festival and three meals a day
you are expected to work a minimum of five eight-hour shifts during the festival

This one added: "Seems pretty likely...
otherwise it's odd that they'd play a one off gig in Margate in June and then nothing else in the UK until October."

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock since 1970 you will be aware of the five-day Glastonbury festival held every June (apart from “fallow” years to rest the land and the organisers)
Glastonbury is as much a pillar of the English summer as tennis at Wimbledon or opera at Glyndebourne
middle-class rite of passage and an easy win for people wishing peer approval and the cultural capital that comes with the price of a ticket
It’s expensive and exclusive and the booking policy reflects its audience
This year’s headliners include indie pop-rock darlings The 1975
old-school superstar Neil Young with his band the Chrome Hearts
with family favourite Rod Stewart filling the Sunday teatime “legend” slot
Looking for something good? Cut through the noise with a carefully curated selection of the latest releases, live events and exhibitions, straight to your inbox every fortnight, on Fridays. Sign up here
Other acts filling the 100-plus stages include Brat popster Charli XCX
original bad boys The Prodigy (without original frontman Keith Flint
With tickets costing £378.50 for Glastonbury 2025
are the 210,000 attendees getting value for money
A Reddit thread titled “Glastonbury 2025 lineup
gives a flavour of some commonly aired opinions
Disappointed customer praf973 “tried to get tickets but was unsuccessful
but the line up isn’t really looking that great.” Another commenter
Ok_Handle_3530 gave a different perspective: “This line-up looks … great
people are too hard to please.” ShankSpencer opined
The exceptionally popular festival sold out in 35 minutes this year even before the artists had been announced
raising the question: has Glastonbury become a victim of its own success
Last year there were issues with overcrowding at some of the smaller stages creating issues for fans wanting to see acts such as the Sugababes
Some sets were even being stopped early because of crowd surges
But what’s really behind these complaints about the lineup and are they justified
There’s been a changing of the guard as the veteran generation of performers from the 1960s
1970s and 1980s step back from performing because they have retired
There doesn’t seem to be enough credible stadium acts from the 1990s onwards to fill their shoes
leading to a lack of enthusiasm for the current offerings
The new generation of acts have an opportunity to impress
but many of them don’t have the volume of hits that legacy acts such as Elton John or Paul McCartney provide – nor the cross-generational appeal
There is also a growing sense that the cultural importance of the rock band is fading
Gen Z has far more in the way of distractions than previous generations with myriad forms of social media and digital entertainment
With so much competition for their attention
the tribal allegiances that bands used to command may feel dated and irrelevant to many younger people
On their single Guys, one of this year’s headliners, The 1975 trill: “The moment that we started a band was the best thing that ever happened.” Perhaps lead singer Matty Healy’s love affair with the mythology of rock’n'roll is no longer widely shared
Glastonbury has also been criticised for a lack of diversity. Clubbing magazine Mixmag made the point that in 2023
“the number of male acts playing this year’s Glastonbury Festival is nearly double that of female acts”
the festival’s lineup and audience are predominantly white and fail to adequately reflect the British music industry
Though there have been a few black bands and artists headlining over the years
it wasn’t until 2019 that the first solo black British performer headlined on the Pyramid stage
with an unforgettable set from London rapper Stormzy in a black Union Jack stab vest designed by Banksy
a by-product to tolerate rather than truly a piece of the event’s heart and soul.”
And then there’s the issue of cost. According to a 2024 report
two-thirds of UK adults feel that music festivals are becoming too expensive
Popular music artists have had to pivot towards live events for income generation because of the poor returns from streaming compared to selling albums
Glastonbury won’t be making an appearance in 2026, the next fallow year for rest and recovery. This will create an opportunity for organiser Emily Eavis to reflect on some of the more problematical issues the festival faces, from diversity in the audience and artists, to the sustainability of the talent pipeline.
Maybe the last word should go to American rapper Azealia Banks commenting on this year’s festival lineup: “Glastonbury is kinda cooked.”
Glastonbury have announced the ticket resale information for 2025
As always, the Worthy Farm fest – which revealed its massive line-up in March – is totally sold out
but there are going to be a “limited number” of tickets up for grabs again this month after some gig-goers didn’t make the payment balance deadline first time round
the ticket and coach travel options for Glastonbury 2025 will be going live
general admission tickets are going to be made available
you can check out the cancelled accommodation options
Registration closes at 5pm BST on Wednesday 23rd April
and will not reopen until after the resale.”
Tickets for this year’s festival cost £378.50
In 2026, Glastonbury will be having its fallow year. Emily Eavis previously said that
“We’re taking a fallow year in 2026 to give the land a rest
and the festival before a fallow year is always a fun one to plan
because you almost have to fit two years into one
We’re already in talks with some acts for it

Police have arrested the driver who they say hit and killed a man earlier this year in Glastonbury
is charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle
Police said Taylor hit 61-year-old Phillip Burleson as he crossed Glastonbury Boulevard in a crosswalk on Jan
Burleson died from his injuries three days later
Taylor remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators
Burleson, a North Carolina native and US Air Force veteran, left behind a wife and two sons, according to his obituary.
Lewis Capaldi performed on stage for the first time in two years at a charity gig in Edinburgh to raise funds for suicide prevention
last performed publicly at Glastonbury in 2023 before taking a break citing anxiety
and announced on New Year’s Eve the same year that he planned to take a hiatus to focus on his health
in aid of the Campaign Against Living Miserably (Calm)
a mental health charity he has previously raised funds for
Fans were asked not to film any of the set
with their phones placed in sealed pouches throughout it
Capaldi, from Bathgate, West Lothian
and released his first album in 2019 and a second album in 2023
Headliner Tom Walker said the appearance was a last-minute decision from Capaldi
and fans were told to stay around for a secret act in addition to him and Nina Nesbitt
The BBC reported that Walker said: “When Lewis confirmed he wanted to do it last minute
“We’ve bumped into each other a few times over the years backstage at fezzys (festivals) and events
“I know how much pressure this industry can put on artists at times
“So for him to be able to play a little secret gig in a safe space without all the phones
the noise and the expectations was perfect
The singer has previously raised funds for Calm, playing a virtual acoustic concert in 2020 to support the charity.
Speaking about the show, Simon Gunning, chief executive of the charity, said: “Calm started its life in music, having been set up by Factory Records’ Tony Wilson. It’s part of our DNA and a key tool in our fight against suicide.
“Music and musicians truly are a lifeline for so many people going through tough times, and it’s apt that these three gigs are taking place in the lead up to Mental Health Awareness Week.
“The theme this year is community, and there really is no greater community than music, and the collective experience of live music in particular – especially when we get a chance to switch off from our phones for a few hours.
“We’re incredibly grateful to all the artists involved, including our ambassador Tom Walker.”
On New Year’s Eve 2020, Capaldi wrote on Instagram that he planned to “make sure I’m 100% before getting back out there properly”.
He wrote: “For now I’m going to continue taking some time to carry on looking after myself, maybe writing some music and taking a moment to reflect on some of the most incredible years of my life.
“I want to make absolutely sure I’m 100% before getting back out there again properly for more shows and doing what I love more than anything!”

Young briefly pulled out of Glastonbury late last year

Mr Lambert also said that the last few days had been “very challenging”

Mr Lambert added that comments made during a November 2023 concert in London

After the first batches of tickets to Glastonbury 2025 sold out last November and with the first line-up now revealed
here’s everything you need to know ahead of the final re-sale this weekend
With 2026 set to be a fallow year
this year’s edition should be a big one
Here’s all the information you need in your quest to secure tickets for 2025
and everything else we know about Glasto 2025
The initial main batch of coach and ticket packages for Glastonbury 2025 sold out in just 32 minutes when they went on sale on Thursday, November 14. Standard tickets then went on sale on Sunday November 17 before being snapped in just 35 minutes
Coach tickets for @Glastonbury 2025 are now SOLD OUT
The general admission ticket resale will take place Sunday at 9am (BST)
Confirmation emails are going out now to everyone who got @Glastonbury coach tickets this evening
— See Tickets (@seetickets) April 24, 2025
General admission tickets will go on sale at 9am BST this Sunday (April 27) ahead of accommodation options at 11am BST
You must be registered before you can purchase tickets in the re-sale (see below for more info)
The main re-sale on April 27 is likely to be the final chance to secure tickets for Glastonbury 2025
As revealed last year
general admission tickets will be £373.50 plus a £5 booking fee
An extra cost will be added for the coach fare if you purchase a coach package
Glasto-goers need to register with basic contact details and a passport-style photo before attempting to buy tickets
registration for 2025 is now closed ahead of the main re-sale on April 27
If you registered prior to 2020 and want to try and get tickets again this year, you may need to check if you still have a valid registration. You can do so here
This year, the festival have introduced a queuing system for tickets
This means that instead of having to refresh to attempt to access the booking page once tickets go live
everyone who is already on the page will randomly be assigned a place in a queue once ticket sales begin
Glastonbury bosses confirmed on the festival’s website: “Anyone who logs on once the sale has started will automatically be added to the back of the queue, so it’s important to make sure you are online ready at least a few minutes before the sale opens.”
Reaction to the new queuing system for the first batch of tickets was mixed, with one hopeful attendee describing it as “my new enemy”, and another saying, “Being in a queue for Glastonbury tickets is so boring what happened to manically refreshing the page every five seconds.”
Rather than being shown a number indicating their place in the queue, it appeared that people could keep track of their progress through a grey bar on their screen – the further along the queue, the more green blocks appear over the bar.
Additionally, organisers have introduced Google and Apple Pay payments for the first time.
Keeping with Glasto tradition, the 2025 festival will take place on the final weekend of June, running from Wednesday June 25 to Sunday June 29 at at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset.
A post shared by Glastonbury Festival (@glastofest)
Topping the bill over on the Other Stage will be Loyle Carner (Friday), Charli XCX (Saturday) and The Prodigy (Sunday)
Organisers promised that “many more acts and attractions [were] still to be announced” in the coming months
The extensive full bill – complete with stage breakdowns and times – is expected in late May or early June
In the meantime, you can see the first poster below and the full line-up and stage splits so far here.
Aside from the festivals cancelled due to COVID, the last time Glasto had an official fallow year was in 2018. However, Emily Eavis has confirmed that a fallow year for the event is set to take place in 2026 to “give the land a rest”
there will be a one-year break before Glastonbury returns in 2027
If you don’t manage to get a ticket or simply can’t afford one
then there are alternative ways to get into the festival – as long as you’re prepared to put in a bit of work
Numerous charities have a presence at the festival and require volunteers to help out across the weekend
In return for your ticket, you’ll be asked to complete shifts across the festival – the length and number of these vary, depending on which charity you attend with. Be warned: you may have to pay a deposit for your ticket, which can be the same price as the entry to the festival. For more information, visit Glastonbury’s jobs page
