Learn more (TSXV: RUA) (OTCQB: NZAUF) (WKN: A40QYC) ("RUA GOLD" or the "Company") is pleased to advise the commencement of drilling at the Cumberland gold camp drill target This builds upon the integration of the VRIFY AI targeting and ranking process with RUA's extensive geological database as well as the consolidation of the Reefton Goldfield - an orogenic gold and antimony belt on the South Island of New Zealand The geological team have defined an initial drill program for 6 holes of depths ranging from 70m to 150m to be drilled from the first pad to define the structure of the Gallant lode Targets are following up on high grade historical intercepts that are at very shallow depths ranging from 30m to 60m Subsequent drilling will then systematically test the remainder of the Cumberland gold camp targeting the 7 historic mines in a 2.2km long north-northwest trending zone of quartz veins and shearing Historical drilling targeting the Gallant structure drilled 20.7m of quartz with individual 1m assays ranging from 0.15g/t gold to 1911g/t gold (60oz/t) using screen fire assay method Re-assaying the historical core using photon assay methods confirms the very high grade and nuggety nature of the gold mineralization Averaging the two sets of core assays confirm a 20.7m intersection assaying 62.2 g/t (2 oz/t) gold Modelling of the observed quartz veins and gold mineralisation intercepts interprets an 8m true width of the vein Initial drilling targets a 600m zone from the Gallant to the Sir Francis Drake historical workings (see figure 3 below) where quartz veins can be traced on surface in folded structurally complex greywacke-argillite host rocks The Cumberland structural zone has emerged as a standout target from the early stages of the Company application of the VRIFY AI tool RUA GOLD has completed drilling of the Victoria lode within the Murray Creek mine camp and is now focusing on the Cumberland gold camp a historic site located 3km south of Globe-Progress Mine The Globe-Progress Mine has a rich history of production with over 1 million ounces of gold produced (424,000 ounces prior to 1950 and an additional 665,000 ounces produced between 2007 and 2015 under OceanaGold) "The Gallant prospect represents the first VRIFY target to be drilled in 2025 With a history of compelling high-grade gold it lies in structurally complex steeply folded sequence of rocks and remains largely untested along strike and at depth Located just 3km south of a major road and accessible via a 4WD track Gallant has logistical simplicity for exploration and potential development." Figure 2) The Company has re-assayed the historical core using photon assay methods which confirmed the very high grade and nuggety nature of gold mineralization Averaging the two sets of core assays confirms a 20.7 m intersection assaying 62.2 g/t (2oz/t) gold Core orientation clearly demonstrates that this intersection drilled down the quartz reef exaggerating its width but provides for a compelling and prospective target for immediate follow-up To view an enhanced version of this graphic, please visit:https://images.newsfilecorp.com/files/10755/247207_769b0b6694fce921_008full.jpg The Cumberland gold camp comprises 7 historic mines in a 2 km long north-northwest trending zone of quartz veins and shearing Historic production totaled 21,740oz gold at an average recovered grade of 26.1 g/t (see appendices) Figure 3: Map showing Cumberland historic mine camp To view an enhanced version of this graphic, please visit:https://images.newsfilecorp.com/files/10755/247207_769b0b6694fce921_009full.jpg The Company has partnered with VRIFY to onboard VRIFY's AI-assisted mineral discovery platform to accelerate discovery reduce costs and further de-risk exploration In conjunction with the consolidation of the Reefton Goldfield in November 2024 Cumberland was identified as a standout target The VRIFY team has assimilated geochemistry drilling and geophysical data on an unprecedented scale and accuracy over the whole district actively informing our 2025 drill targets for quicker project advancement and de-risking our work programs unlocked through VRIFY's Al-assisted mineral discovery platform This AI-assisted data synthesis enabled RUA GOLD to actively and effectively rank its 2025 drill targets accelerating its project advancement and de-risking its work programs in a matter of minutes RUA GOLD inherited thousands of data points from historic activity on its multiple mine sites and exploration work with the Reefton Goldfields The ability to rapidly mine this existing data for new insights and targets provided real-time feedback through VRIFY's platform to inform drilling programs RUA GOLD is just beginning and is confident that VRIFY will continue to add value by allowing for the analysis of larger datasets without increasing costs linearly VRIFY's proprietary Al model reduces human error and identifies patterns that manual review might miss Figure 4: VRIFY AI hotspot identification showing Cumberland-Gallant Prospect To view an enhanced version of this graphic, please visit:https://images.newsfilecorp.com/files/10755/247207_769b0b6694fce921_011full.jpg RUA GOLD is treating the drill results as historic sampling and analytical information contained in the written disclosure Data was verified by examination of remaining core in the core-box; has successfully completed the ambitious Revival of the Ancient Gold City project an unprecedented initiative that has led to the discovery and conservation of a gold mining camp with over three thousand years of history southwest of Marsa Alam in the Red Sea province has been rescued thanks to the collaboration between archaeological authorities and the administration of the current Sakari gold mine thus ensuring the protection of Egypt’s invaluable historical heritage from contemporary mining activities The project has involved a series of extensive archaeological excavations and relocation of architecturally significant elements The structures found have been relocated to a safe site three kilometers north of the original location moving them away from modern mining activity currently taking place in the area This effort has required the application of rigorous administrative and legal procedures including approval by the Permanent Committee of Egyptian Antiquities has expressed his enthusiasm for this remarkable discovery emphasizing the importance of this project in preserving Egypt’s historical legacy He highlighted that this finding not only provides crucial data on the techniques used in gold mining in antiquity but also enriches the understanding of daily life in an industrial city in the Eastern Desert throughout different historical periods Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities detailed that the excavations have unearthed a perfectly structured mining camp dating back more than three thousand years remains of a complex gold processing system have been identified including specialized factories for extracting the precious metal from quartz veins The evidence found reveals a meticulous process that involved crushing and grinding the quartz filtering and sedimentation in special basins smelting in clay furnaces to obtain pure gold the excavations have revealed remnants of the daily lives of ancient miners Architectural elements have also been identified indicating the site’s continued use in later periods including remains from the Roman and Islamic eras One of the most fascinating discoveries is a collection of 628 ostraca (fragments of pottery or stone with inscriptions) reflecting the linguistic and cultural diversity of the time bronze coins from the Ptolemaic dynasty have been found along with an impressive number of terracotta figurines depicting human and animal representations from the Greco-Roman period and small stone sculptures Also discovered were five offering tables from the Ptolemaic era along with a varied collection of ceramic vessels of different sizes and shapes as well as ornaments made of precious stones and seashells Khaled emphasized that this discovery is essential for understanding the advanced gold extraction techniques used by the ancient Egyptians and for reconstructing the social and economic structure of the mining communities that inhabited the Eastern Desert throughout history These findings confirm Egypt’s significance as a gold production center since Pharaonic times further reinforcing the country’s historical and archaeological importance head of the Egyptian Antiquities Department of the Supreme Council of Antiquities has highlighted the efforts made to document and preserve these architectural remains a replica of the mining camp has been created in a six-acre area where the main discovered structures have been reconstructed equipped with high-definition screens displaying detailed images of the excavation process (“Howells Lake Project”) is located in the Howells Lake area in the Thunder Bay Mining Division of Ontario for which the price has tripled in the past year is right now arguably one of the most attractive critical minerals in the world and the Howells Lake Project provides Madison with one of only a handful of antimony historic resources have the opportunity to obtain complete control of a large belt-scale asset like the Howells Lake Project covering such an extensive area of known mineralization that seems to have been overlooked for decades,” said Duane Parnham “The Howells Lake Project has enormous potential to have real economic significance and Madison is seizing this rare opportunity to discover new areas of antimony-gold mineralization as well as define the known areas of antimony and gold mineralization on this very large We believe we can drive real shareholder value creation as soon as we get exploration underway on the project.” *The historic mineral resource was prepared before the implementation of NI-43-101 standards for disclosure for Mineral Projects The historic resource does not meet the disclosure required under the provisions of NI-43-101 and should not be relied upon The report was prepared by New Jersey Zinc staff in 1977 and reported on by then Ontario Resident Geologist John Scott While the resources should not be relied upon the QP for this release considers the resource estimate to be pertinent and of value for readers to consider “Antimony was historically discovered in drilling alongside gold mineralization on the Howells Lake Project in the early 1970s,” said Parnham “The antimony price run-up has been driven by its supply-demand fundamentals and its tripling in price over the past year has been largely sparked by increasing demand and the Chinese export restrictions that took effect September 15 Expanding our portfolio to include this high-impact high-grade project complements our existing uranium assets and positions us as a first mover in the space.” the Howells Lake Project is very similar in its geochemistry and geological setting to that found in the world-class Hemlo gold deposits where gold production and resources now exceed 25 million ounces Many setting similarities make the Howells Lake Project a very rare ‘Hemlo copy.’ They include the presence of antimony evidence of regional faults and unconformities with the unique addition of the presence of high-grade antimony associated with some of the gold mineralization which was largely overlooked or thought to have little value given the antimony price of the 1970s which was a fraction of the current pricing Millions were spent exploring the area and defining mineralization and this work produced a substantial non-43-101 compliant historical resource* of approximately 51 million pounds of antimony With gold prices soaring past US$2,600 per ounce and antimony trading at more than $16 per pound the combination amplifies the project’s economic potential.” Bruce Durham to our team as special technical advisor to the Board of Directors and lead technical manager of all activities at the Howells Lake Project Antimony is a critical mineral that is vital for numerous applications it is becoming increasingly strategic and growing in use for military applications It is also used in semiconductor manufacturing and is a key ingredient in fire retardants and solar panel manufacturing Global antimony supply faces significant challenges China produced 48% of the world’s supply in 2023 but essentially ceased exports on September 15 causing a severe shortage and resulting in a tripling of prices in the past year With virtually no Western production and no new major projects under development the need for new mines and refining capacity is urgent Antimony is on the critical metals list of Canada projects that qualify as critical minerals projects can receive funding incentives not available for other exploration Co-Chairman and Acting CEO Mike Spreadborough said “We continue our strong exploration program across key gold targets in the Pilbara The drilling results at Nunyerry North are very promising and we look forward to assessing the complete program and establishing the next set of work activities.” continues targeted exploration programs across key prospects at the Becher Project De Grey has completed approximately 36,000 m of combined aircore and RC drilling at Becher to end July 2024 and plans to continue to drill across the Heckmair Lowe and Whillans targets over the coming months Our Egina JV tenements are considered highly prospective for significant intrusion-related gold deposits and shares similar attributes to the nearby 12.7 Moz Hemi Gold Project.” 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Novo Resources Corp (Novo or the Company) (ASX: NVO) (TSX: NVO) (OTCQX: NSRPF) is pleased to provide an exploration update on programs at the Egina Gold Camp and Balla Balla Gold Project including results from RC drilling at Nunyerry North (Figure 1) and the recent Determination Wide Aboriginal Heritage Protection Agreement with the Kariyarra Aboriginal Corporation which will allow for on ground exploration to commence at Balla Balla and ongoing work by De Grey on the Becher Project at the Egina farm-in and Joint Venture Novo has been exploring the Mallina Basin and adjacent areas in the Pilbara since 2017 focusing on gold prospectivity but also with a view to adding value through lithium This work culminated in 2023 with considerable success delivered from drilling at Nunyerry North and through the completion of transformative deals with De Grey Mining (De Grey) (the Egina farm-in and Joint Venture (Egina JV)) and Sociedad Quimica y Minera de Chile S.A (SQM) (the Harding Battery Metals Joint Venture (HBMJV)) These strong JV partnerships give Novo exposure to a new discovery through JV partner expenditure and allows Novo to focus on progressing exploration across targeted prospects in the Pilbara and Victoria and advance assessment of project generation opportunities Figure 1: Novo Tenure in the Central Pilbara showing the Egina Gold Camp and Balla Balla Gold Project The Egina Gold Camp is a contiguous tenement package transecting the Mallina Basin in the north and mafic / ultramafic sequences further south These corridors are part of the regional structural architecture that encompasses De Grey’s 12.7 Moz Hemi Gold Project (Hemi)3 to the northeast This tenure has been one of the main focus areas of Novo’s exploration programs over the last eighteen months and delineation of the Nunyerry North orogenic gold prospect in 2023 First pass drilling at Nunyerry North in late 20234 was restricted to a central zone of structurally controlled outcropping quartz veins with high-grade gold rock chip results (Figure 2) Figure 2: Nunyerry North geological interpretation Drilling generated significant intercepts in Main Lode #1 in a shallow plunging shoot within a brittle basalt unit Other mineralised lodes were identified below the Main Lode #1 Best results from the 2023 RC program include: Novo recently completed a follow-up RC drill program of 34 holes for 3,942 m aimed at extending known mineralisation in the Main Area and at testing other more regional targets defined by soil sampling These regional targets included the Estrid Fault west of the Aurora Fault (‘Aurora West’) and a porphyry unit south of the Skadi Shear (‘Porphyry’) Angled drill holes ranged from 66 m to 192 m in depth (average 116 m) and were drilled on 40 m to 80 m spaced sections All holes were drilled oriented perpendicular to the interpreted mineralised trend with the intersected widths representative of the true width of the mineralisation unless noted otherwise Main Area - Drilling was designed to extend mineralisation along strike to the east of and down plunge of the Main Lode #1 and to understand the context of previous high-grade intercepts in the east of the area drilled in 2023 Best results (Figure 3) from the latest drilling include: See Appendix 1 for hole details and Appendix 2 for complete assay results Drilling has extended known mineralisation by 250 m to approximately 500 m in strike (Figure 3) NC061 intersected the Main Lode # 1 approximately 100m down plunge of 2023 drilling extending the plunge extent to over 300m An additional mineralised shoot is also interpreted towards the east possibly related to a splay fault recognised from chips and surface mapping Mineralisation is still open to the east and at depth Anomalous and significant results from the current program are currently being re-analysed by multi-pot PhotonAssay™ The larger sample methodology may better resolve any coarse gold component Figure 3: Nunyerry North long section (looking NNW) showing m x g/t Au (downhole width) Three holes were drilled into the Estrid Fault target where high-order soil anomalies and surface alteration and veining defined the mineralised corridor All three holes generated significant gold intercepts Hole NC046 intersected strong silica-sericite alteration (Figure 4) Figure 4: NC046 drill chips showing altered basalt top) and mineral / alteration intensity / vein percent (bottom) None of the drilling was at optimal angles due to the terrain and these holes may have drilled at low angles to mineralisation along the fault although true orientation of mineralisation cannot be determined at this stage Mineralisation is open along strike for several hundred metres Porphyry Target - Three holes were drilled into the Porphyry target where Novo rock chip samples have returned several positive results from brecciated quartz veins5 The porphyry is up to 1 km long by 85 m wide in outcrop and disseminated pyrite is common throughout with areas showing up to 5% disseminated to blebby pyrite Drilling intersected a porphyritic rhyolite to rhyodacite with pyrite (+/- chalcopyrite) mineralisation coinciding with elevated pXRF assays on RC powder of up to 0.21% Cu Results to date do not warrant immediate follow up in the direct target area However anomalous Au and Cu results are encouraging for exploration prospectivity in the district as porphyry style mineralisation was not previously recognised in this area Aurora West – A broad soil anomaly was tested at Aurora West in stratigraphy interpreted to be the offset basalt host to mineralization at the Main Lode #1 Whilst quartz veins and minor sulphide were intersected in a number of holes De Grey is currently progressing the first stage of its earn-in at the Egina JV with a minimum spend of A$7 million to be completed in 18 months (December 2024) De Grey needs to invest up to A$25 million on exploration at Becher and adjacent tenements within 4 years to earn a 50% direct interest in the JV Follow-up aircore (AC) and RC drilling programs commenced at Novo’s flagship Becher Project by De Grey in late May 2024 with two rigs concurrently conducting a proposed approximate 28,000 m combined drill program The RC drill program is focussed initially at Heckmair and has been designed to follow up on encouraging results at Lowe The AC drill program has commenced at Lowe and aims to provide better geochemical coverage over structural and intrusion targets a total of 38 RC holes for 4,975 m and 201 AC holes for 16,955 m had been completed The Tabba Tabba Shear Corridor is a deep NE trending mantle tapping structure/series of structures in the Southern Egina Gold Camp (Figure 1) and host to numerous gold occurrences The 60 km strike of the Tabba Tabba Shear Corridor on Novo tenure (Figure 5) is underexplored as access is difficult and significant parts of the corridor are covered with shallow alluvium and part of the corridor is overlain by Fortescue Group Basalt Novo have recently completed a re-interpretation of the corridor utilising new advances in understanding from geology previous reconnaissance style exploration during 2019 to 2023 and the understanding of Hemi Several conceptual targets have been identified with most having received little to no historical exploration Conceptual targets focus on structural intersections of faults and shears within the Tabba Tabba Shear Corridor particularly where folded stratigraphy and / or minor intrusions are noted The Kilkenny prospect was explored by Kilkenny Gold NL (Kilkenny) in the late 1990s and comprised several short costeans and 18 shallow percussion holes for a total of 530 m drilled following up a coherent gold in soil anomaly Kilkenny returned best costean samples of 8 m at 4.2 g/t Au and drilling results of 5 m at 5.0 g/t Au from 9 m (ACN05) and 5m at 1.7 g/t Au from 14 m See Appendix 3 for hole details and Appendix 4 for complete assay results and modern exploration includes results of 25.5 g/t Au and 32.3 g/t Au from rock samples7 This prospect is located within the Yandeyarra Reserve and has not been accessible in recent years due to the requirement to complete access agreements Drilling and surface sample results may not be representative of mineralisation in the district Novo has recently commenced mapping and surface sampling over prospective parts of the Tabba Tabba Shear Corridor to delineate targets for potential future drill testing The initial program comprises six mapping areas and approximately 1,200 surface soil samples with opportunistic rock and stream sediment samples where appropriate The Balla Balla Gold Project (Figure 6) includes Novo granted tenements and tenement applications immediately north of the Egina Gold Camp (Figure 1) and overlaps with the Kariyarra and Ngarluma / Yindjibarndi Native Title Determination areas Novo reports that a Determination Wide Aboriginal Heritage Protection Agreement (the Agreement) has been signed between Novo and the Kariyarra Aboriginal Corporation The execution of this Agreement streamlines the interactions between Novo and the Kariyarra People and confirms Novo’s commitment to open honest and transparent dealings with the Traditional Owners of the Pilbara Region The Agreement also provides for compensation payments for the benefit of the Traditional Owners which are customary and in line with normal commercial terms for similar agreements of this nature The Agreement enables the grant of tenement application E47/4703 at Balla Balla A cultural site avoidance heritage survey has already been completed with Kariyarra jointly organised by Novo and SQM with a final report expected within the next few weeks This survey will enable AC drilling to commence after the grant of the tenement The Balla Balla Gold Project covers a significant flexure of the Sholl Shear Zone a major crustal suture between the Central Pilbara Tectonic Zone and the Karratha Terrane The Sholl Shear Zone is a NE – SW striking mylonite zone trending parallel to the Mallina Shear and Tabba Tabba Shear Corridor including the Loudens Fault and Wohler Shear Novo holds approximately 60 km of strike length over the Sholl Shear Zone at Balla Balla Figure 6: Balla Balla Project geology showing Sholl Shear Zone corridor and complex folded stratigraphy The Sholl Shear Zone and surrounds are prospective for orogenic and intrusion related gold and Novo intends to rapidly progress exploration by regional AC traverses over key targets Novo retains upside to this lithium potential with the HBMJV where SQM have paid A$10M for a 75% interest in five of Novo’s tenements SQM will be the manager and Novo is free carried until a decision to mine Several conceptual targets on Novo’s tenure have been identified through comprehensive analysis and interpretation of geophysical and remote sensing data existing geochemical datasets and searches through historic reporting over the broader area Many of these targets have received little to no historical exploration presenting new opportunities for discovery and development Tenement application E47/4703 shows significant geological complexity in magnetic data in proximity to the deep mantle tapping Sholl Shear Zone the stratigraphy comprises interbedded varying sedimentary units of the Mallina Formation and to the north is a fault-bound wedge of Mallina Formation adjacent to felsic volcaniclastics and porphyry dacites & rhyolites of the Red Hill Volcanics These are also intruded by the young mafic-ultramafic rocks of the Sherlock Intrusion and crosscut by late dolerite dykes (Figure 6) The complex geological setting and evidence of folded stratigraphy in a potential extension of the Loudens Fault provides a compelling region for a first pass AC drilling program primarily targeting gold and copper mineralisation Novo has designed a preliminary 8,000 m AC program pending tenement grant and finalisation of the heritage survey Drilling is expected to commence in Q4 2024 The program comprises regional drill lines to test approximately 10 km of target strike extent Lines are designed at a nominal spacing of 320 m or 640 m preferentially targeting interpreted structures and fold closures This program will utilise the same refined and optimised in-field sampling methodology and dispatch as that used at the Becher Project during 2023 AC drilling The technique led to rapid sample collection This program is aimed at determining bedrock geochemistry to generate a coherent litho-geochemistry dataset driving geological understanding and enabling identification of mineralogical systems and their primary controls Nunyerry North RC chips were split directly off the cyclone on the drill rig at one metre intervals and sent to Intertek Genalysis (Intertek) in Perth Western Australia with the entire sample smart crushed to -3 mm (NVO02 prep code) with a 500 g split sample analysed for gold using PhotonAssay™ (PHXR/AU01) Remaining drill spoil was retained on site in numbered green bags QA/QC for RC samples are inserted at the rate of 2 x 600 g standards per 100 2 x 600 g blanks per 100 and 4 duplicates per 100 Field duplicates are collected from the cone splitter at the time of drilling Intertek also inserts PhotonAssay™ blanks and certified standards at the rate of 4 per hundred All significant sample intervals greater than 0.3 g/t Au or part of an interval that falls within an interpreted mineralisation shape were resubmitted for multiple PhotonAssay™ analysis selected from remaining crushed material available in the laboratory Samples were analysed ‘in full’ by splitting the crushed material into multiple PhotonAssay™ jars (PHXR/AU01) with a maximum of five jars Kilkenny constructed trenches through soil and rubble to ensure sampling could target rock in situ Samples were collected by hand over two metre intervals along the trench and perpendicular to stratigraphy with most costeans approximately 20 metres long Samples were submitted to Genalysis Laboratories and analysed for gold via Fire Assay (AAS Drilling by Kilkenny was completed with a 600cfm/250psi AC hammer rig with each meter captured in green bags which have since been rehabilitated four metre composite samples were speared and submitted to Genalysis Laboratories and analysed for gold via Fire Assay (AAS Composites greater than 1 metre were speared on site and resubmitted for re assay excavation of an extensive gold mining complex dating back to a time long before Christ This monumental achievement has been attracting a great deal of attention In a social media post from the nation’s Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities on Feb government officials discussed the 3,000-year-old discovery and highlighted key findings it contains a fully equipped facility for extracting gold from quartz veins In addition to the gold mining infrastructure of antiquity at the site they dug up an entire residential district that housed the ancient Egyptian miners the remains of administrative facilities and bathhouses Artefacts uncovered at the project were transported to a safe location about three kilometres away “It is a significant discovery because it expands our understanding of ancient Egyptian mining techniques,” Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities Secretary-General said in a statement from the government’s official news agency One portion of the former Tables 1 and 2 for detailed assay results and hole locations3 Refer to Novo’s ASX Announcement Significant Drill Results at Becher (corrected) (Novo or the Company) (ASX: NVO) (TSX: NVO) (OTCQX: NSRPF) is pleased to provide a progress update on exploration activities at the Egina Gold Project (Figure 1) with De Grey Mining Ltd (De Grey) (ASX:DEG) Novo Executive Co-Chairman and Acting CEO Mike Spreadborough said: “We are delighted that De Grey shares our enthusiasm for the Egina Gold Project We’ve been exploring the Mallina Basin since 2017 To be able to partner with a group like De Grey provides the best opportunity for us to drive value for our shareholders at Egina through any potential new discoveries and future exploration success.” De Grey is just starting to explore at Egina with several highly prospective areas yet to be systematically tested providing multiple new targets to explore and build upon the platform set by De Grey over the past 12 months.” we remain focussed on progressing our prospects in the Pilbara and Victoria as well as assessing project generation opportunities.” commented: “The Egina Project is an important part of De Grey’s strategy to grow a large regional scale resource base around the planned Hemi processing plant The Egina tenements are approximately 1,000 sq km and significantly grows the land position De Grey has exposure to around Hemi Egina contains major structures and geological units which extend from Hemi and is prospective for both large intrusion-hosted deposits like Hemi and orogenic gold deposits Large prospective areas of the Egina Project have not been explored so we believe the area still has exciting potential De Grey satisfied its minimum expenditure commitment by spending A$7 million over a 15-month period Our intention is to continue to progress exploration on the Egina tenements towards forming a 50:50 joint venture subject to ongoing assessment of exploration results on the Project.” Novo entered into an earn-in and joint venture agreement with De Grey for the Company’s Becher Project and adjacent tenements within the Egina Gold Camp (Figure 1) with the resultant joint venture to be known as the Egina JV De Grey is earning into the Egina JV and has advised Novo that it has now satisfied the initial minimum expenditure requirement of A$7 million (required prior to December 2024) This is part of a required A$25 million spend within 4 years to earn 50% of the joint venture The combined Egina JV and De Grey tenure forms a strategically significant land position in the Mallina Basin covering approximately 2,500 sq km De Grey assumed management control of the Novo area (under the earn-in arrangements) from 1 July 2023 and rapidly advanced key exploration efforts through targeted AC and RC drill programs and geophysical surveys The Egina JV tenure comprises a large 1,034 sq km tenement package adjacent to De Grey’s existing Hemi Gold Project (‘Hemi’) and is located immediately south of Withnell and southwest of the Hemi deposits (see Figure 2) Figure 2 Hemi and Egina Gold Project areas.4 _________________4 Refer to De Grey’s ASX Announcement Egina contains similar geology and structures to those found within Hemi in some cases directly along strike from De Grey’s current exploration areas Consolidating exploration of the Egina tenements with Hemi is an important step in De Grey’s strategy to discover and grow a large resource base centred around the future Hemi processing plant Previous exploration by De Grey within the existing Farno Joint Venture (De Grey 75% and Novo 25%) and recent drilling at the neighbouring Becher and surrounding prospects (contained within the Egina Project area) highlight the potential for the discovery of large scale intrusion-related gold deposits similar to Hemi as well as shear-hosted orogenic deposits similar to the Withnell and Mallina deposits The additional tenure in the west of Egina also contains strike extensions of the structural corridor that hosts the Mallina deposit and opportunities to discover new intrusions similar to Toweranna and Charity Well As part of the A$7 million minimum expenditure requirement De Grey has completed 34,180m of aircore drilling and 9,129 m of RC drilling in 2024 across four main prospects testing prospective intrusions and regional structures (Figure 3) A drone aeromagnetic survey was also completed in the Becher area Most of the remaining areas throughout Egina have received very little modern systematic exploration Figure 3 Egina anomalous gold intercepts and drilling (see Appendix: Tables 1 and 2) Previous results from De Grey’s work on the Egina Project were provided by De Grey in an ASX release on 13 February 2024 (Greater Hemi and Regional Exploration Update) and by Novo in its ASX release on 14 February 2024 (Significant Drill Results at Becher corrected) which included a best intercept of 8m @ 4.7 g/t Au from 97 m in MSRC0031 at the Lowe prospect with mineralisation associated with a deformed intrusive sill Other highlights included a large WNW-trending 1.5km brittle fault zone in the Heckmair intrusion with broad intervals of anomalous base metals and low-level gold mineralisation A follow-up RC program comprising 19 holes (2,368 m) returned strong base metal values including 10 m @ 0.1g/t Au with individual metres grading up to 4% Zn and 4% Pb The best gold intercept was 2m @ 2.8 g/t Au in hole MSRC0013 (See Novo’s ASX release dated 14 February 2024) Prospect locations in the Becher area are shown in Figure 3 with significant intercepts given in Appendix: Tables 1-3 Exploration since De Grey’s Greater Hemi and Regional Exploration Update on 13 February 2024 includes AC and RC drilling in addition to the drone aeromagnetic survey which was flown to enable more detailed structural and geological interpretation of bedrock Multiple thin anomalous gold intercepts were returned at the Whillans prospect from drillholes MSRC0074 associated with minor quartz veining and weak sericite alteration of metasedimentary arkosic sandstone and siltstone Multiple thin intercepts were returned at the southern edge of the Heckmair sanukitoid intrusion from drillholes MSRC0012 Novo ASX release on 14 February 2024 (Significant Drill Results at Becher corrected) All intercepts were associated with minor quartz veining and weak sericite alteration and hosted within a dioritic intrusion extending to the eastern side of the Heckmair Intrusion has identified broad zones of Zn-Pb-Ag and gold anomalism within the weathered horizon These are adjacent to the previously reported intercepts of base metal mineralisation within the Heckmair Fault that bisects the Heckmair intrusion (Figures 4 and 5) base metal anomalies can signal enhanced gold prospectivity Better gold intercepts include 12 m @ 0.8g/t Au (including 4 m @ 2.1g/t Au) in MSAC0989 Gold mineralisation is hosted in quartz veining within metasediments Anomalous base metal intercepts include 25 m @ 0.99% Zn+Pb (MSAC0962) and 43 m @ 0.53% Zn+Pb (MSAC0963) Four metre composite samples with anomalous base and precious metals assays are currently being re-split and will be submitted for multi-element and fire assay gold analysis with ongoing interpretation and targeting to follow Figure 4 Plan showing anomalous base metal results in AC drilling at Irvine (see Appendix: Tables 2 and 3) Figure 5 Section showing anomalous base metal (Zn+Pb) results in AC drilling at Heckmair East (see Appendix: Tables 2 and 3) Four metre composite samples with anomalous base and precious metals assays are currently being re-split and will be submitted for multi-element and fire assay analysis De Grey is currently awaiting final assay results including aircore re-splits Work will continue compiling and analysing results from recently completed work programs in addition to generating additional targets and developing follow-up programs Negotiations with the Mugarinya Community Association are continuing regarding an access agreement to the Yandeyarra Aboriginal Reserve A high-level Aboriginal heritage area avoidance survey was recently completed on tenements within the Yandeyarra Reserve with results pending Discussions are also underway with the Ngarluma Aboriginal Corporation regarding upcoming heritage surveys Once these permits and clearances are in place De Grey will be well-positioned for exploring areas that have previously seen little to no modern exploration On-ground exploration activities will progress from minimum impact typical early-stage activities including ground gravity surveys geological mapping including remote sensing methods De Grey advises that it intends to then progress to AC drilling for target generation and sub-surface geological mapping Follow up target testing drilling would then generally involve follow-up AC Key terms of the Egina HOA between De Grey and Novo include: AC drilling is utilised as a first pass technique testing for gold mineralisation and anomalous pathfinder geochemistry in basement rocks under cover The drilling methodology is rapid and low cost enabling large systematic programs to be completed in a cost effective and timely manner One metre AC drill samples are collected from the drill rig through a cyclone and placed on the ground in piles for geological quantitative and qualitative logging These piles are then speared as four-meter composites All AC chip samples were sent to ALS in Perth Western Australia and each sample was dried crushed and pulverised to 85% passing 75 µm 11 elements assayed with aqua regia mass spectrometry (ALS Lab Code ME-MS43) with an additional 29 elements assayed with aqua regia ICP-AES finish (ALS Lab Manitou Springs competes in the first stage of the Pikes Peak APEX mountain biking race at Palmer Park on Sept In aiming to grow its prestige and showcase the bike riding potential of the Pikes Peak region a sixth-year race is adding what might be called a quintessential route that goes through the Cripple Creek/Victor mining district Or as the Pikes Peak APEX calls it: “what might just be Colorado’s most stunning gravel race.” That’s the billing for Queen of the Canyons the single-day race out of Colorado Springs’ southwest mountains boasts about 135 miles and 11,000 feet of climbing over Gold Camp and Phantom Canyon roads following much of the Gold Belt Tour Scenic Byway between Cripple Creek and Cañon City 30-mile climb around Pikes Peak’s historic mining camps and a “thrilling descent” down Shelf Road to Cañon City “It’s a heckuva day of riding bikes,” he said the Mini Majesty will also run that Sunday The 65-mile out-and-back covers the entirety of Gold Camp Road the historic path that fueled the Pikes Peak gold rush who organizes one of the state’s biggest gravel races out of Steamboat Springs knows Gold Camp as “one of the most beautiful roads in the state.” In his 15 years around the Springs’ cycling scene he said he was unaware of a formal race covering the road’s full length he said: “to continue the growth of the APEX.” Dangling a prize purse of $12,500 in hopes of again drawing pros and local “joes,” the APEX will return its three mountain bike singletrack-centric courses June 6-8: in Palmer Park that Friday and North Cheyenne Cañon that Sunday (Saturday was still being finalized as of this writing) The Queen of the Canyons and Mini Majesty pose other options for Sunday with the Penrose House serving the same start finish and afterparty for both Cheyenne Cañon- and Gold Camp-bound riders Registration is $107 and $138 for the Mini Majesty and Queen of the Canyons Single-day and three-day options for the mountain bike races run between $64-$295 “there will be some people who have to make a decision,” Rice recognized But he sees the Gold Camp Road races and the more technical race in Cheyenne Cañon appealing to different riders In terms of the Gold Camp Road races: “We look at this as kind of a safe way to do a massive Maybe the route has been too intimidating for one to take on alone or in a small group “This allows those people to have a structured event there’s dedicated rest stops with food and drink Rice said he was keeping “conservative” expectations for Queen of the Canyons and Mini Majesty ridership He said he was hoping for close to 200 across the APEX’s other three mountain bike races Numbers have hovered below that in recent years Housed under the Colorado Springs Sports Corp with national-level sponsors and significant backing from the city’s Lodgers and Automobile Rental Tax (LART) fund the additional routes will stretch logistics like never before “There’s a lot of moving parts for sure,” he said “We’re gonna just pull everyone together and try to pull off year one and see how it goes.” playSwanson reflects on 'special' USWNT connection with Smith & Rodman (1:42)Mallory Swanson speaks about her connection with Sophia Smith and Trinity Rodman for the USWNT AUSTIN, Texas -- United States women's coach Emma Hayes on Wednesday called the team's October training camp "the perfect window" to test out new players who could bolster the squad following its Olympic gold medal earlier this year Hayes called up six uncapped players to the USWNT for a training camp ahead of a pair of games against Iceland, and a third match against Argentina next week Three of those players are also in their first senior team camp "There will be debuts over this block," Hayes said on Wednesday at Q2 Stadium are the two big windows in the immediate to be able to assess what other players from outside the current playing pool are going to be candidates to be involved with what we're going to be doing." Thursday's match against Iceland will also mark the first time the team has gathered since the Americans won Olympic gold on Aug For as much talk there is about turning the page toward the 2027 World Cup and identifying new talent the three games this window are contractually considered the team's victory tour "Number one, we want to celebrate," USWNT midfielder and captain Lindsey Horan said We haven't been back together since the Olympics so this is an incredible moment for us to be back on home soil and be able to celebrate My big message at the beginning [of camp] and Emma's message as well is and we are looking forward to the future." Defenders Emily Sams and Eva Gaetino, and midfielder Hal Hershfelt are also uncapped Hershfelt and Sams were alternates at the Olympics and Sams earned a gold medal since she made a gameday roster as an injury replacement Forward Alyssa Thompson and midfielder Ashley Sanchez are both in their first training camp since late 2023 Hayes requested to expand the training camp roster by three to 26 members so she could evaluate as many new players as possible so I felt like I needed to address it before it got worse," Smith said on Wednesday I've been doing a lot of work in Portland with our medical staff but I've been working hard and staying ready we have three games in this window and then I go back getting my feet back underneath me and feeling good again." Smith's minutes will be restricted over the next week with the USWNT -- and she won't be alone The NWSL's final round of the regular season kicks off on Friday 1 -- two days after the USWNT plays Argentina in Louisville The Thorns sit in seventh place and are haven't clinched a playoff spot Portland is one of four NWSL teams playing that Friday, which will limit who Hayes plays against Argentina. The former Chelsea coach said that "in an ideal world," nobody will play more than two full matches across the three fixtures The USWNT coach said the compact NWSL schedule is more of a challenge than having European-based players (the USWNT has four in camp) fly over to Texas "I think the bigger issue is the NWSL has games [next] Friday," Hayes said the bigger challenge are the four teams that are playing NWSL games on the Friday "And these are conversations I've had with the NWSL so hopefully in the future we'll work towards not having scheduled games on a Friday after a Wednesday international game We're working hard with NWSL in our communication to plan for the future." Hayes said she and her staff have conducted an "extensive comprehensive report" around the Olympics that will inform their strategy as the team shifts focus toward the 2027 World Cup and 2028 Olympics That strategy will be shared internally in January at a camp feature senior players training side by side with a "futures camp" of younger players who are relatively new to the national team experience "I think the rest of this year is very much celebrating this victory tour for the players plus recognizing the achievements of those that have performed really well in the NWSL," Hayes said 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- West Red Lake Gold Mines Ltd (“West Red Lake Gold” or “WRLG” or the “Company”) (TSXV: WRLG) (OTCQB: WRLGF) is pleased to report additional drill results from the Upper 8 Target (“Upper 8”) at its 100% owned Madsen Property located in the Red Lake Gold District of Northwestern Ontario These results follow-up on the significant Upper 8 intercepts previously announced on October 2, 2024 where drilling returned 44.17 g/t Au over 1.3 meters (“m”) and 20.63 g/t Au over 0.5m “The initial results we received from Upper 8 were very encouraging and motivated our team to add a second drill to focus solely on this new high-grade area Upper 8 was already a shallow geologic analog to the deeper 8 Zone but with the exceptional grades and visible gold showings we’re now encountering this target is becoming truly reminiscent of the high-grade gold mineralization Red Lake is known for but we believe the Upper 8 target has the potential to become the next new significant discovery in the Red Lake gold camp and supports the likelihood for the presence of more high-grade deposits like 8-Zone yet to be discovered across the Madsen property.” Visible gold showings within 0.5m (core length) zone of blue-grey quartz veining (VBGQ) grading 52.17 g/t Au Note the spatial association between the high-grade interval and the Russet Lake Mafic Intrusive (RSMI) PRBA denotes “Biotite-Altered Peridotite” and is the signature 8-Zone-style gold bearing alteration package within the Russet Lake Ultramafic Diamond drill core in this photo is NQ diameter (47.6 millimeters) The drill results featured in this news release are focused on the Upper 8 target which is a shallower geologic analog to the well known high-grade 8-Zone The Upper 8 target is hosted within the same lithologic unit (Russet Lake Ultramafic) approximately 750m up-plunge from the main 8-Zone deposit (Figure 3) and its exceptionally high grades make the 8 Zone geologically unique from the main Madsen deposit The 8 Zone currently contains an Indicated mineral resource of 87,700 ounces (“oz”) grading 18 grams per tonne (“g/t”) gold (“Au”) with an additional Inferred resource of 18,200 oz grading 14.6 g/t Au Plan maps and sections for the Upper 8 drilling outlined in this release are provided in Figures 2 through 7 Significant intercepts (>1 g/t Au) from drilling at Upper 8 Target *The “From-To” intervals in Table 1 are denoting overall downhole length of the intercept True thickness has not been calculated for these intercepts but is expected to be ≥ 70% of downhole thickness based on intercept angles observed in the drill core Internal dilution for composite intervals does not exceed 1m for samples grading <0.1 g/t Au TABLE 2: Drill collar summary for holes reported in this News Release Drilling on the Upper 8 target is designed to test the projected near-surface extension of the mineralized shear corridor that hosts the highly prospective 8-Zone The Upper 8 target horizon was intercepted in only a few historic drill holes which encountered a zone of strong shearing alteration and quartz veining equivalent to 8-Zone style mineralization The Upper 8 shear domain is hosted within the Russet Lake Ultramafic and the angle of shear emplacement of Upper 8 is sympathetic to the structural orientation observed at 8-Zone Recognition that the gold mineralization at the Upper 8 target is comprised of transposed quartz veinlets within a definable and recognizable shear corridor provides excellent opportunity for additional drilling and expansion potential Recent drilling on the Upper 8 target by WRLG has shown that gold mineralization is similar in geological setting and style as the deeper 8-Zone deposit Elevated gold at Upper 8 is shown to occur within deformed and recrystalized blue-grey quartz and quartz-sulphide veinlets These veinlets are hosted within shear domains which are easily recognizable by their locally intense deformation fabrics A spatial association with mafic intrusives (Russet Lake Mafic Intrusives which is interpreted as being a more mafic equivalent to the spatial association seen at Madsen between mineralized domains and quartz-porphyry (“QZPY”) dikes the high-grade vein zones tend to be positioned footwall to the RSMI units This spatial relationship between gold mineralization and syn-contemporaneous intrusives has been well documented at other significant deposits in the Red Lake district (Eg High resolution versions of all the figures contained in this press release can be found at the following Pre Feasibility Study (PFS) for the Madsen Mine is nearing completion The final phase of this study involves optimizing underground development and infrastructure sequencing and refining the associated operating and capital costs West Red Lake Gold is working with SRK Consulting on these optimization opportunities a process that is expected to take an additional few weeks to complete As such the PFS is now targeted for release early in 2025 Change of Year-EndThe Company also announces that it has changed its fiscal year-end from November 30 to December 31 Exploration drilling completed on surface at the Madsen Mine consists of oriented NQ-sized diamond drill core and sampled by a trained geologist at the Madsen Mine core processing facility Control samples (certified standards and uncertified blanks) are inserted at a target 5% insertion rate The BQ-sized drill core is whole core sampled The NQ-sized drill core is then cut lengthwise utilizing a diamond blade core saw along a line pre-selected by the geologist the same side of drill core is sampled consistently utilizing the orientation line as reference For those samples containing visible gold (“VG”) a trained geologist supervises the cutting/bagging of those samples and ensures the core saw blade is ‘cleaned’ with a dressing stone following the VG sample interval Bagged samples are then sealed with zip ties and transported by Madsen Mine personnel directly to SGS Natural Resource’s Facility in Red Lake which consists of drying at 105°C and crushing to 75% passing 2mm A riffle splitter is then utilized to produce a 500g course reject for archive The remainder of the sample is then pulverized to 85% passing 75 microns from which 50g is analyzed by fire assay and an atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) finish (SGS Code GO-FAA50V10) Samples returning gold values > 10 g/t Au are reanalyzed by fire assay with a gravimetric finish on a 50g sample (SGS Code GO_FAG50V) Samples with visible gold or returning gold values > 30 g/t Au are also analyzed via metallic screen analysis (SGS code: GO_FAS50M) samples are sent to SGS’s facility in Burnaby British Columbia and analyzed via https://www.globenewswire.com/NewsRoom/AttachmentNg/15a1de0a-8067-40c4-a108-b8f1a5d046d1 our state's beauty is accented this time of the year as shimmering aspens colder storms that frequently drop a coat of white on the peaks of the Rockies Seeing the best and brightest of Colorado's fall colors does take some planning we hope that you get the chance to explore a new corner of the state or return to a favorite spot When should you plan a trip to see the fall colors fall colors will start to peak by mid-September north of I-70 Something to consider when making your fall leaf-peeping plans Here are the average dates for peak fall color viewing the changing aspens typically peak towards the middle to end of September peak colors are often experienced towards mid to late September For the Pikes Peak Region and Highway 50 corridor peak fall colors can be seen from late September through early to mid-October If you're planning to check out the autumn leaves in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains you should probably wait until early to mid-October for the best viewing How this year's drought will affect fall colors Drought plays a key role in our seasonal fall foliage areas of Moderate to Severe Drought have returned to portions of Colorado this September mainly along and east of the Continental Divide and into the High Plains where we saw exceptional and severe drought conditions we saw the timing approximately two to three weeks earlier than average," said Dr a Forest Entomologist from the Colorado State Forest Service drought can help get those colors to turn more quickly compared to non-drought years the drought isn't as pronounced in the mountains and so peak fall colors may come later says Dr "The season timing appears to be closer to average this year whereas the last couple of years have been slightly earlier from a lack of precip and drought conditions," said Dr Weather and climatology also impacts fall foliage Drought only plays part of the role in this annual tradition "We want those warm days followed by cool nights to reveal the yellows and oranges that are already present in the leaves," according to Dr West also warns that cold snaps and high wind events can impact the trees sometimes putting an early end to Colorado's annual kaleidoscope of colors Leaf peeping hot spots for Colorado residents and visitors with some of my favorite places to catch the changing fall colors Most of these drives are nearby and can therefore attract larger crowds so plan these trips on wide-open days when you're not rushed Leaf peeping after all is all about the journey This 19-mile paved road from Cascade to the summit of Pikes Peak shouldn't be overlooked Leaf peeping enthusiasts will get the chance to witness a variety of colors and seasons on the way to the top but don't forget your jacket at temperatures at the summit can be more than 30 degrees colder than Colorado Springs The lower part of the drive travels through dense forests and groves of aspen trees with plenty of opportunities to pull over and soak in the scenery Crystal Reservoir is one of my favorites to check out the fall colors and admire the view of America's Mountain as your backdrop It should be noted that this drive isn't free. Teller County - Highway 67 from Divide to Cripple Creek One of the most convenient drives for fall colors from Colorado Springs is on Highway 67 from Divide to Cripple Creek You'll see tons of yellow aspen and cottonwood trees as you follow the winding road south through the mountains There are several pull-off spots along the highway to snap a picture and you can grab lunch or place a bet in Cripple Creek before you head home Due to its close proximity to the I-25 corridor it's one of the more popular leaf-peeping trails here Early mornings are preferred or plan to check it out during the week to avoid peak crowds Located off Highway 67 about 7 miles south of Divide this popular year-round destination If you're looking for a great spot to picnic the opportunities for hiking and leaf peeping here are endless it's a great place to settle in for a night or a quick weekend getaway El Paso County/Colorado Springs - Quail Lake Quail Lake is located a few miles south of downtown Colorado Springs and is surrounded by beautiful yellow and orange trees The lake offers fantastic views of Pikes Peak A recreation mecca for Colorado Springs residents or simply take a walk on the nearly mile-long trail surrounding the lake The best view is along the waterfront on the lake's east side El Paso & Teller counties - Gold Camp Road Formerly a railroad line from Colorado Springs to Cripple Creek Gold Camp Road is now a free public road popular with bikers and hikers but features several great views of aspen and cottonwood trees The easiest way to get there is to drive through Cheyenne Canyon and follow the paved road until it turns into Gold Camp Road Gold Camp is a ROUGH road with steep grades so a 4-wheel-drive vehicle with good brakes is highly recommended If you've driven out to Breckenridge or Buena Vista from Colorado Springs and scenic drive about an hour west of Colorado Springs The mountains you'll see in the distance are part of the Sawatch and Mosquito range Our advice would be to park at the Wilkerson Pass Visitor Center and explore the area especially southwest of the visitor center Plus the valley below is one of Meteorologist Alan Rose's favorite parts of the state as it's a drive that he's done several dozen times en route to his favorite ski areas Pueblo & Custer counties - Highway 165 from Rye to San Isabel A longtime favorite of former KOAA-TV Lead Forecaster and Southern Colorado weather legend Mike Daniels this beautiful drive is great for those who live in Pueblo A little more than 10 miles from Rye to San Isabel this short drive is the perfect way to explore the lesser-known Wet Mountains You'll see lots of Aspen trees along Highway 165 with plenty more fall colors around San Isabel Lake If you have the time, keep driving about ten minutes west of San Isabel and explore Bishop Castle! Huerfano & Las Animas counties - Cucharas Pass Located in the stunning Sangre de Cristo Mountains the nearly 10,000-foot mountain pass is located less than 20 miles south of La Veta The peak of fall colors here usually occurs from late September to early October giving visitors plenty of time to see the changing leaves compared to neighboring passes up north This lesser-known leaf-peeping drive is not heavily traveled and offers guests beautiful views of the Spanish Peaks to the east and the towering spines of the Sangre De Cristos to the west The road is paved and pretty easy to drive for most vehicles here are a few of our state's most popular spots found outside of Southern Colorado The Maroon Bells might be the top leaf-peeping spot in all of Colorado Often regarded as the most photographed place in the Centennial State the bells sit in front of a valley covered in aspen trees surrounding Maroon Lake Our advice is to do your research before visiting the bells (what you need to know) Parking spaces at the Maroon Lake Trailhead are RESERVATION ONLY and many spots are already taken. If you have a reservation you can drive your personal car right up to your reserved parking spot There is a shuttle bus option to the base of the bells Guests can arrive at Aspen Highlands and purchase their tickets in person for a first come first serve basis as the bells are one of the most popular places to see fall foliage in the entire state why not get there in style on Independence Pass Independence Pass is the second-highest paved mountain pass (12,095 feet at the summit) that connects Twin Lakes to Aspen and steep at times with two VERY narrow sections near the end of the west side Fun fact: It's only open on a seasonal basis closing each year around the first week of November and not reopening until Memorial Day weekend The whole pass has amazing mountain views, but the best aspen colors are on the west side of the pass. If you have a little time, stop and see the famous cliff jumping spot, The Devils Punchbowl! making it a relatively close drive to Colorado Springs Boreas Pass was turned from a railroad route into a mountain pass in 1952 Boreas Pass will give you plenty of mountain views with dense yellow The gravel/dirt pass is smooth enough for most 2WD cars Not only is it one of the most popular national parks in the entire country but Rocky Mountain National Park also boasts some of our state's most amazing fall color views You'll see yellow aspens and fall foliage pretty much anywhere in the park Crystal Mill is an old power station built back in 1893 The mill sits on an outcrop above the Crystal River and has not been in use since 1917 when the Sheep Mountain Mine closed Crystal Mill is only accessible in the fall and summer months by a rough High clearance, 4-wheel-drive vehicles are recommended, but the mill can also be reached by foot, a mountain bike, or a guided jeep tour. He added of early feedback: "Really just feeling like this is a new day for mountain biking and for progressing trails to the point where we have things that we can offer similar to other cities we see around Colorado and around the country." Off Captain Jacks Trail and plunging toward the downhill bike-only Chutes trailhead on Gold Camp Road the expert-only Captain Morgans had long been deemed an erosive "rogue" trail by the parks department leading up to the 2018 North Cheyenne Cañon master plan While the plan called for several trail closures and re-routes in the canyon advocates with Medicine Wheel Trail Advocates — the city's longest-going mountain bike advocacy group — pushed for Captain Morgans to be retained and sanctioned The moment was seen as a compromise between city officials concerned about expensive unsustainable trails on the region's unique loose soil and enthusiasts wanting to seize the potential of local terrain Those interests have flared tensions in recent years Colorado Springs Mountain Bike Association rose in 2022 "to create a new relationship across the divide," Thompson said "represents a willingness of parks staff to recognize that you can take something that riders want in an illegal trail and find a way to compromise and bring that as a resource." The trail design "kept it about 90% intact of its current form," Thompson said was controlling and moving water across loose "So we had to engineer some pretty calculated drainage features," he said Captain Morgans was formally recognized in a trail map released by the parks department in June That's the 2 1/2-mile section largely paralleling Gold Camp Road dusty road and unlocking several connections between the high reaches of North Cheyenne Cañon and the lower Stratton Open Space Captain Morgans is one of those connections Morgans runs down to a wooden "flyover" feature never before seen in city parks Hikers and cyclists can proceed safely on Ladders Trail while downhill bikers can fly over the overhead ramp catching brief air in one of the more dangerous moments of Captain Morgans "We feel like this flyover feature is going to become really the symbol of how mountain bikers perceive Colorado Springs," Thompson said Riders drop to a narrow turn in a fashion that's difficult to negotiate and appears to be degrading the trail's edge Thompson said a plan is underway to create a cinderblock stretch that "should provide a surface that people can break on .. but more importantly will hold the slope." He said another volunteer day is scheduled for September "To examine the work that we did through the construction phase to make sure (the trail) is holding up against any rainstorms as well as damage from riders," he said "So far what we're observing is that the trail is getting used at a much greater rate than it ever was when it was a rogue trail because that decomposed granite does not always hold up well to extremely high use."
