GRANITE BAY—A neighborhood in Granite Bay was placed under a shelter-in-place order Wednesday morning as the Placer County Sheriff’s Office investigated a suspicious device discovered in a residential area
Deputies responded to the area of Hidden Lakes Drive and Douglas Boulevard shortly before 10 a.m
authorities confirmed the presence of the device and immediately deployed the department’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team to assess the situation
residents in eight nearby homes were instructed to remain indoors while the bomb squad conducted its investigation
The affected residents were notified directly
and deputies shut down access to Hidden Lakes Estates from Douglas Boulevard
Douglas Boulevard was also closed at Mooney Road as a safety measure
including its appearance or why it was considered suspicious
“We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to ensure the community’s safety,” the sheriff’s office stated in a public advisory
There were no immediate reports of injuries or evacuations beyond the shelter-in-place directive
and updates will be provided as more information becomes available

Air support was called in to take over the pursuit
The chase lasted almost 20 minutes and air support tracked Janssen as he veered north out of Citrus Heights
then continued east down Douglas Boulevard through Roseville and on into Granite Bay
Janssen’s speed increased to at least 110 miles an hour as he continued to evade police
officers finally located and apprehended Janssen on Sheba Court in Granite Bay
Jones said Janssen was in possession of hard drugs
including felony evasion and wanton disregard for safety
driving a motorcycle without the right license classification
possession of drug paraphernalia and burglar tools
Janssen also has a long history of over a dozen prior arrests
Janssen was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on $307,500 bail and is due in court on Feb
