Former Man Utd striker Mason Greenwood is eyeing up a return to the Premier League in the summer transfer window
The Red Devils sold the Englishman to French side Marseille last summer in a deal worth an initial £26.6m after a successful loan spell at Getafe last season
Greenwood signed a five-year contract at the Ligue 1 side and has been largely successful with four assists and 18 goals in 31 league appearances for Marseille
But the Man Utd academy product was dropped for two games in a row in March with Marseille boss Roberto de Zerbi insisting that the striker must “sacrifice” more
De Zerbi said: “No one can have more respect for him than I do
But that doesn’t change anything: I expect more from him
because what he is currently showing is not enough
“If he wants to achieve his ambition of becoming a champion
sacrifice more and be more determined.”
the 23-year-old was suspended by the Red Devils on January 30
2022 over allegations relating to a young woman after images and videos were posted online
He faced charges including attempted rape and assault
but the Crown Prosecution Service announced in February 2023 that the case had been discontinued
And now The Sun newspaper claim that former Man Utd striker Greenwood is ‘pining for a return to England — putting a string of Prem clubs on red alert’
A source has revealed that Greenwood is hoping that the “vitriol he previously faced has died down a bit and people may have moved on” with the “novelty” of living in France wearing off
The source close to the situation told The Sun: “When Mason first left United he loved Spain
He and Harriet moved to Madrid and rebuilt their lives
“He loved the fact he could just play football and his life off the pitch was not the subject of such intense focus
“He was really happy to sign for Marseille and loved living in France
But he’s been abroad for nearly two years and the novelty has worn off
“Mason’s family visit but he is very introverted and misses his extended family and the friends he has from home
“A move back to the North West could suit him as he feels the vitriol he previously faced has died down a bit and people may have moved on.”

MASON GREENWOOD is pining for a return to England — putting a string of Prem clubs on red alert
The forward, 23, left Manchester United for £26.6million last summer and signed a five-year deal with Marseille in the south of France
He has scored 19 goals in 33 appearances for the Ligue 1 side
But he has faced repeated criticism from manager Roberto De Zerbi and was dropped in March for a perceived lack of work-rate
Greenwood — who had charges of attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour dropped in February 2023 — is yearning for a return to the UK with partner Harriet Robson and their two young daughters
He signed for Marseille following a successful spell in Spain with Getafe

Former Brighton boss De Zerbi dropped Greenwood and criticised his work-rate
Marseille’s Ultras have also unfurled a banner in the stands during games, urging him to “Get a move on”

Last year, Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood sparked controversy when he defended his ongoing collaboration with Israeli musician Dudu Tassa
The pair had two concerts scheduled in the UK for next month
and both have been canceled amidst the BDS Movement
Greenwood and Tassa performed in Tel Aviv almost a year ago
Sanctions movement to accuse Greenwood of “artwashing genocide” by playing a show in Israel while the country’s military committed genocide against the Palestinian population
In his statement at the time, Greenwood wrote that “silencing Israeli artists for being born Jewish in Israel doesn’t seem like any way to reach an understanding between the two sides of this apparently endless conflict.” He and Tassa have not yet commented on the new cancelations, but the BDS Movement reacted on their Instagram:
Jonny Greenwood and Dudu Tassa’s show at Hackney Church has also been cancelled
Palestinians welcome the cancellation of both of their UK shows
We reiterate our call for all venues to refuse to programme this complicit event that can only artwash genocide
Greenwood and Tassa were slated to play the Bristol Beacon on June 23 and London’s Hackney Church on June 25. The cancelations were confirmed on the event pages

A website dedicated to all things film-related
This year’s 12th edition of the Scary Movies festival at Film at Lincoln Center premiered Ari Aster’s extended version of “Midsommar” this past Saturday
There’s clearly some major reshuffling going on when it comes to Maggie Gyllenhaal’s “The Bride,” and I’ll get to the other stuff in a minute
it looks like Johnny Greenwood (“There Will Be Blood”) will no longer be composing the score for Gyllenhaal’s semi-musical
but one who is sadly coming off last year’s “Joker: Folie à Deux.”
No reason seems to have been given for Greenwood’s departure, but it’s just the latest development in what’s been a tumultuous last few months for Gyllenhaal’s film. This film can’t catch a break, but don’t tell that to Warner co-CEO Pam Abdy, who recently blamed the bad buzz on sexism
I recently flagged that “The Bride!” wasn’t exactly killing it in test screenings
and Puck confirmed my reporting soon after
while also scratching their heads over how exactly Gyllenhaal
whose directorial résumé includes precisely one movie
managed to convince Warners to bankroll her $100 million gothic musical passion project
is reportedly struggling to strike the right balance
Abdy was apparently tasked to try to whip the movie into shape
and word is she’s having a hard time of it
“The Lost Daughter,” was a critical darling and nabbed her a Venice screenplay award
she was expected to bring “The Bride!” to Venice this fall
but then Warners delayed its October release to a more suspicious March 2026 unveiling
and Jake Gyllenhaal—and it’s loosely riffing on Bride of Frankenstein (1935)

Ashland-Greenwood girls track and field makes up for their youth with overall talent
and Coach Ashleigh Kitrell is starting to find the right formula as the district meet nears
(Ashland) -- Ashland-Greenwood girls track and field makes up for their youth with overall talent
the Bluejays took second at the Trailblazer Conference Meet
finishing with 102 points and three individual golds
“The season has been super exciting,” Coach Kitrell told KMA Sports
“I think that the girls are starting to build at the right time
Our whole coaching staff kind of anticipated it as we have been working to put the little pieces together until this point.”
sophomore Jade Sargent won the 100 and 200 while freshman Averi Bridges captured the 400
Junior Zoey Smith was second in the 3200 and fifth in the 1600
and the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams were both second
Sophomore Jada Carson also had a strong day with a fourth in the triple jump
who has been one of the standouts throughout the season for Coach Kitrell
took sixth in both the discus and shot put
“(Howard) is definitely someone to keep an eye on in both the shot put and the discus,” Kitrell said
“She continues to be rock solid in terms of her mentality and just stepping up at every meet
I’m hoping she starts to put her pieces together as well to end her season and career on a high.”
Junior Sydney Schram is another standout that took a fourth-place finish on Saturday at the TBC Meet
“She actually almost didn’t come out,” Kitrell said
“She’s really been able to step up in the high jump
And we have some girls who are pretty much on our 4x1 and 4x4 at all times
They’re kind of our core group for the relays
Ashland-Greenwood continues their season on Thursday at Raymond Central before their district meet next Tuesday at Waverly
“I’ve been telling the girls that pressure is a privilege,” Kitrell said
and so we’re kind of preparing them and walking through different scenarios
It’s really just communicating with the girls and saying
what do you think you can handle in terms of training-wise and how can we load you up for (big meets)
It’s been fun to prepare and fun to have these problems of who are we going to put where and how are we going to put together the relay teams with the depth we have.”

The Fort Smith Board of Directors will consider several key proposals at its May 6 meeting
including a rezoning request to convert a commercial property into a home
a public hearing on federal housing grants and a resolution to end the city’s mosquito fogging operations
Rezoning on North GreenwoodA proposed ordinance would rezone 721 N
from Commercial Light (C-2) to a Planned Zoning District (PZD)
allowing the existing building to be used as a single-family residence
just west of the North Greenwood and Hardie Avenue intersection
A neighborhood meeting on March 31 drew no public comments
and no opposition was voiced at the April 8 Planning Commission hearing
The commission voted 8-0 to recommend approval
A public hearing will be held on the city’s Year 51 Community Development Block Grant and Year 32 HOME Investment Partnership budgets and the 2025 Action Plan
which outlines how the city intends to use federal housing and development funds
The board also will consider amendments to the city’s 2025 operating budget and an ordinance adjusting the Unified Development Ordinance regarding driveway access for duplexes
Another item proposes calling a special election to coincide with the 2030 Primary Election
the measure would ask voters to realign and reauthorize city sales and use taxes for the same effective period
Mosquito fogging may endUnder the consent agenda
the board will vote on whether to discontinue mosquito fogging operations
a move proposed during the April 22 study session
The city has historically handled fogging through its Streets & Traffic Control Department
One of the consent agenda items would authorize a construction agreement with Crawford Construction Company to revitalize Garrison Park
The project costs $85,603.97 — but only $8,520.97 will come from city funds
The remaining $77,083 is budgeted by the Central Business Improvement District
which worked with MAHG Architects to blend its downtown enhancement plans with previously approved city work to avoid duplicating costs
The revised design will reuse the existing irrigation system
and landscaping stones to improve drainage and reduce expenses
with Crawford Construction providing the lowest responsible bid
The meeting is open to the public and will be at 6 p.m

FOND DU LAC – At its core, the Fond du Lac County Fair has been about local agriculture each summer since 1852
but other major draws include carnival rides and games
the fair started offering big-name music acts on the grandstand
"From the moment Janie Fricke appeared and started blowing kisses to the crowd
she held the audience in the palm of her hand," The Reporter read on July 19
The stands were packed for all three singers that year
inspiring the fair to continue booking popular musicians
Many famous faces have graced the stage ever since
With a few months to go until the 2025 fair, organizers announced this year's headliners would be Bret Michaels
we asked readers what their favorite performers have been in the history of the Fond du Lac County Fair

country singer Lee Greenwood took the stage at the fair with his white suspenders and a saxophone
The band behind him included his 26-year-old son
Greenwood was a five-time country male vocalist of the year
and he played several of his classic songs
"I Don't Mind the Thorns if You're the Rose," women in the audience walked up to the stage with roses
"God Bless the USA," which he wrote in 1983
and the audience joined in with singing and cheers
waving American flags for a performance that moved many
Eddie Rabbitt performed at 1988 Fond du Lac County FairEddie Rabbitt took the hearts of a packed crowd in 1988 with both his music and a stream of jokes with the audience
as well as songs he wrote for other artists
including Elvis Presley's "Kentucky Rain."
One of his songs was the title song for the Clint Eastwood movie "Every Which Way But Loose." He teased the audience by having them participate in finishing the line
get those tight ends out there," he'd said
After 30 seconds of the audience dragging it out
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts performed at 1988 and 2008 county fairsSeveral performers have come to the fair multiple times
including Joan Jett and the Blackhearts in two concerts 20 years apart
Joan Jett performed the night after Eddie Rabbitt in 1988
singing "I Hate Myself for Loving You" from her newest album early in the show to a screaming crowd
The Reporter interviewed her after the show
and she was "quite modest" about her recent achievements
from the new album to her role in the movie "Light of Day" alongside Michael J
In 2008, Fond du Lac was still picking up the pieces from the previous month's 100-year flood
but that didn't stop a crowd of about 12,000 to 15,000 that came out to watch Joan Jett and the Blackhearts rock the stands again
Styx performed at 2001 and 2004 county fairsIn 2001
the fair was celebrating its 150th anniversary
and thanks to Styx and the rest of the entertainment line-up
it almost broke an attendance record — if it weren't for the rain
The rock band was also a huge draw in its 2004 return
and some of the locals that attended met a group of devoted fans who followed the group from state to state to watch many of their shows
Many attendees agreed in both years that Styx
most popular for the songs "Renegade," "Babe" and "Come Sail Away."
Tracy Lawrence had also come to the fair in 2001
and is another example of a returning act with a performance this year
Heart performed at 2003 fairRock band Heart came to the fair in 2003 with some of its most popular hits "Crazy on You," "Magic Man" and "Barracuda" — all from the 1970s — as well as songs from the rest of their career
That year was one of the first with a new band lineup behind lead vocalists Ann and Nancy Wilson as they made Fond du Lac a stop on their U.S
The fair set an attendance record of 80,000 in 2007
due in large part to the headliners on the grandstand
Blue skies were on the fair's side that year
and '80s band Tesla took the stage first as the Friday night act
leaving crowds in awe with its rock and roll set
and Bret Michaels of Poison will return to the fair this year

Daughtry was on the docket to play the fair in 2020
but with the COVID-19 pandemic canceling many aspects of the fair
fans waited patiently until the rock band was confirmed as one of the acts in 2021
the band is one of the more modern ones on readers' lists
having formed in 2006 with its most popular song
The band was working on a new album when the 2020 performance was canceled but the single "Heavy Is the Crown" was released a few months before the rescheduled county fair performance
but not at the fairWelsh band Badfinger performed at the Cow Palace at the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds on April 14
their career included recording with The Beatles member George Harrison
and Paul McCartney wrote and produced their first single
Admission to the concert was $3.50 at the door

Roberto De Zerbi's men are second in the league behind Marseille and look good value to return to the Champions League next season
who has switched international allegiance from England to Jamaica
finding the net 19 times in 33 appearances
But according to a report from The Sun, Greenwood is looking to leave Marseille and is desperate to return to the Premier League
As well as longing to play at the highest level once again
it's said that Greenwood is missing his family and friends back in England and longs to be closer to them
The 23-year-old's last appearance in the Premier League came in January 2022 against West Ham and he was suspended by United after being arrested and subsequently charged with attempted rape
The charges were later dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service with key witnesses withdrawing their involvement in the case and new material emerging
In 2023, United conducted a thorough club investigation which ultimately concluded with the mutually agreed decision that he should continue his playing career elsewhere
Greenwood's stint with Marseille hasn't been all plain-sailing as De Zerbi dropped him last month for not working hard enough
Marseille's fans even got on his case with a banner which told him and teammate Luis Henrique to "get moving"
but Di Zerbi has been impressed by how he has responded
an extraordinary father with whom I worked a lot
with the help also of Mehdi Benatia," De Zerbi said
"It is true that sometimes he gives us the impression that he can score three or four goals per game
and sometimes also that he wastes a little of his potential and his value
by taking care of him and sometimes also by being harder so that he continues his progression
"This is the main objective that I have with all my players
beyond all those that we can have with the club
because if I make my players progress we can achieve the club's objectives faster."
United inserted a 50 per cent sell-on clause in Greenwood's Marseille deal
which means they will be entitled to take half of a future fee

Manchester United’s hopes of generating additional income from their clause in Mason Greenwood’s Marseille contract are growing amid claims the forward is pushing for a shock return to the Premier League and with two factors forcing his exit from the Ligue 1 giants
The 23-year-old has been forced to rebuild his life and his professional career overseas, after Manchester United decided it was best to move him despite charges of attempted rape and assault being dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service and the case discontinued in February 2023
the Red Devils decided to sell Greenwood to Marseille last summer for a fee of £26.6m (€31.6m
though the move did present United with a big-money cut of any future deal
To that end, United secured the rights to obtain a further 50% share of any profit Marseille make from their initial Greenwood signing – potentially adding millions to Ruben Amorim’s transfer kitty somewhere down the line
Now reports of a move away from Marseille are starting to gather pace
with Greenwood both unsettled in the south of France and with Marseille’s ultras making their feelings clear on his performances
And now reports in both France and England claim that the Bradford-born attacker is ‘pining for a return to England – putting a string of Prem clubs on red alert’
A source also told The Sun that Greenwood is hoping that the “vitriol he previously faced has died down a bit and people may have moved on” with the “novelty” of living in France wearing off
The source continued: “When Mason first left United he loved Spain
“He loved the fact that he could just play football
and his life off the pitch was not the subject of such intense focus
“He was really happy to sign for Marseille and loved living in France
but he is very introverted and misses his extended family and the friends he has from home
“A move back to the North West could suit him as he feels the vitriol he previously faced has died down a bit

Reports in France go on to explain that Marseille’s supporters
a group of hardcore ones are known as Ultras
have made it clear what they think of Greenwood’s efforts in recent weeks
despite the fact his numbers speak for themself and Greenwood has managed 19 goals and five assists from 34 appearances so far
His cause has not been helped by OM boss Roberto de Zerbi
who insists the forward must “sacrifice” more for the team to make himself one of the best
after recently dropping him from his starting line-up
De Zerbi said: “No one can have more respect for him than I do
“If he wants to achieve his ambition of becoming a champion
While The Sun refuses to name a particular club he could end up at
there are only a handful of Premier League sides who sit within the boundaries of what their stipulation that Greenwood ‘wants to return to the North West’
Aston Villa – an 85-mile commute down the M6
or Wolves (74 miles away) could emerge as options were the player be willing to commute
Or there could be Premier League newcomers
who also sit with the radius of clubs who could potentially bring him in
And while such a move looks highly unlikely to say the least
their chairman Paraag Marathe has vowed to spend whatever it takes and as much as they can within the boundaries of the game to give Leeds a fighting chance of survival in the Premier League
Meanwhile, United midfielder Mason Mount has strongly criticised the team’s performance against Brentford
while head coach Ruben Amorim is in despair over the injury to Matthijs de Ligt
Elsewhere, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed his bafflement at why United decided to sell a top midfielder last summer
However, rumours that Arsenal are in contact to sign a player Amorim has already decided is not part of his Man Utd plans have been quickly cleared up with the player’s preferred next destination now coming to light
And finally, United are reportedly close to launching an official offer to sign a top-notch Brazilian midfielder with Amorim’s plans to pair him up with Manuel Ugarte in the engine room now coming to light
