Stephen and Brenton Grove to replace Claudio Schiavoni
Stephen and Brenton Grove will make their FIA World Endurance Championship debuts at this weekend’s 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps
The Australian father-and-son duo will share driving duties with Matteo Cairoli at the Ardennes circuit
with the lineup switch the result of the physical issue that sidelined Claudio Schiavoni from the recent European Le Mans Series round at Paul Ricard
Schiavoni was replaced at Le Castellet by Christian Ried and will sit out the WEC round at Spa in order to ensure he is fit to compete at next month’s 24 Hours of Le Mans
the Andrea Piccini-led squad has brought in the Groves to further add to their preparations for their Le Mans debuts
where they will share Iron Lynx’s third LMGT3 entry with Luca Stolz
regular Silver driver Matteo Cressoni is also stepping aside at Spa
we want to wish a very prompt recovery to Claudio,” said Piccini
“The decision to step out of Spa really shows his focus and dedication on being in top shape for the 24 Hours of Le Mans
I also thank Matteo for providing Stephen and Brenton with a unique chance to prepare for their first Le Mans race
“We look forward to the 6 Hours of Spa and we are determined to make the most out of the experience.”
the Groves have two previous starts in the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa to their name
“It’s super exciting to make our WEC debut this weekend in Belgium,” said Brenton
“It’s a shame that it’s in these circumstances and we wish a speedy recovery for Claudio – we will do our best to make him proud
“The team were great to work with in Portugal (in GT Open competition) and we took some big steps forward
so it made sense to continue our program in the lead up to Le Mans
it will be a learning weekend but Spa is always unpredictable so anything is possible.”
Iron Lynx is set to compete at Spa with a changed lineup in both of its cars, as the team announced last week that Martin Berry is replacing Ried as the mandatory Bronze-rated driver in the sister No

a fourth-year English major at Alfred University
recently put the finishing touches on a project she had been working on through the spring 2025 semester: a new edition of Sarah Edgarton Mayo’s 1844 book
Gaia’s introduction explores the history of floriography
the language of flowers that was popular in the Victorian period
finished his book: Fairy Tales for Everyday
a collection of his original fairy tales and illustrations
First-year student Alfie Koenig created a new edition of the anthology Victorian and Edwardian Tales of Terror with his own scholarly introduction
Fourth-year student Kimberly Paulo completed The Sun Shines: A Collection of Nature Literature
an anthology of British and American writers whose work explored nature
Samantha Batt published The Art of Sapphistry: Lesbian Literature from Antiquity to the Medieval Ages
a year-long project that includes many of her own Latin translations
Third-year student Alyra Rain wrapped up a thousand-page textbook project she has been working on through the 2024–25 academic year: Foundations of English Literature: An Anthology of Pre-Restoration British Literature
The students’ finished projects are the capstone of their work in English Professor Allen Grove’s Publishing Practicum course
a one-semester introduction to book publishing offered in the Division of English
Grove’s students choose their own subject matter
and wrestle with the nuts and bolts of layout and graphic design
Their finished works are published through Grove’s company
Grove uses sales revenues to pay for publishing expenses
Any remaining balance is donated to the English Division’s visiting writers fund
Grove has taught the course every other year for more than a decade
Several of his students have converted their class experience into jobs in the publishing industry
and Whitlock Publishing has brought out 37 books with titles and subject matter ranging from The Woman Suffrage Cookbook (Sean Hilliard ’15) to The Feminist Coloring Book (Erin Jurkowski ’21)
I wanted it to give our students practical skills
applying their research and writing abilities to produce something concrete,” Grove says
they’re not writing a book; they republish works that are out of copyright and unavailable in inexpensive paperback editions
Many students create original anthologies focused on an area of interest
All members of the class write well-researched introductions
Writing the introduction requires so many of the skills we teach in the English Division
and they have a great credential for publishing or writing jobs
Much of the Practicum’s classroom work is front-loaded
with the students spending the first weeks of the semester studying sample introductions in other anthologies and brainstorming their own introductions
Students conduct research into the authors they choose to publish
and the class visits Herrick Library to study book jackets
as each student will design their own book cover in addition to writing the introduction
with Grove supervising the students in Herrick Library’s computer lab
where they learn to use InDesign to develop age-old layout skills such as kerning and leading
Grove’s hope is that most of the students finish their projects by the date of AU’s annual Undergraduate Research forum
six of his students presented posters at the forum
AU Art Librarian John Hosford audited the class this semester
as part of a project he has been working on tied to the 125th anniversary of the New York College of Ceramics
Grove’s students are winding down the semester with less structured classroom periods
held in the seminar room on the second floor of Seidlin Hall
the discussion included thoughts on the role of Artificial Intelligence in creative practice; also
and Grove’s company has published two volumes of The Alfred Book of Ghastly Tales
collections of ghost stories written by AU students and faculty
“Probably no other school in the country offers an undergraduate class like this one,” Grove says of the Publishing Practicum
“But it’s a natural for the English Division
We celebrate our Maker Culture at Alfred University
and in this course we’re really making something.”

The woman was walking along Madison Boulevard on April 2
They walked out with their hands on their guns
and then they asked me to see my ID," she said
She was walking on the right side of the road with traffic
Her husband recorded the incident on video
"She was not walking on this side of the road." the husband responded
"What does it matter?" The officer replied
"It's a traffic violation," to which the husband countered
According to the Texas Transportation Code
pedestrians must walk on the left side of the road facing oncoming traffic if no sidewalk is provided
The situation got a bit heated with a couple of raised voices
which Groves PD explained was due to two officers being in field training
"It's just very an excessive force of power for me just trying to go and find my dog," the wife said
The couple has hired an attorney to fight the ticket
feeling it was an abuse of power for a minor situation
"You could have easily said 'hey ma'am,' and I could have explained to you what I was trying to do
but then you threatened my husband and threatened me to go to jail," she added
"I feel like they looked and saw an easy target
and nobody was going to come and defend and nobody was going to come help."
Groves City Marshal Chris Robin stated that the department does not tolerate racism and emphasized safety as the primary goal
"We've seen so many different minor ordinance violations turn into something tragic
We want to be able to make a difference in making our community safer," Robin said
The Groves Police Department reported that since January 1
there have been eight arrests for the specific violation
The department conducts a racial profiling report annually to ensure transparency
Attorney Langston Adams tells KFDM/Fox 4 News he spoke with the couple and looked into the circumstances of the stop and ticket
"It's not a question of whether she was breaking the law," says Adams
"We believe it's selective enforcement and racial profiling
He was also walking on the wrong side of the road and he's white
I believe they used her walking on the wrong side of the road as a pretext to stop her."

Rolly Romero was the underdog against Ryan Garcia. However, the former world champion George Groves had wished that he could upset the odds. The icon further promised to support Devin Haney in the rematch later this year if he failed the test.
Ryan Garcia went to the ring for the first time after being slapped with a one-year doping suspension. The fighter tested positive for the prohibited substance Ostarine. He was floored in the second round and outmaneuvered in larger part of the contest.
Judges issued a unanimous verdict win over 12 rounds to 29-year-old Rolly by ratings of 118-109 and 115-112 twice.
The American boxer credited his opponent as he was installed as the new WBA welterweight titlist.
“He fought a good fight, caught me early, no excuses, man,” he said. “He did a great job, and that’s that. I just think that whole year [off] took a lot off my body physically, mentally,” said Garcia in a post-fight interview.
“I’m just happy I made it to the ring and went 12 rounds. Hats off to Rolly, he did a great job. Just got to go to the drawing board with my team, we’ll talk it over and see what we do next,” he said.
The state’s leading scorer at 34.2 points per game this season backed out of his previous commitment to Yale and had an offer from the Gophers.
Orono guard Nolan Groves announced Saturday night that he will play college basketball for Texas Tech.
He announced his commitment during a visit to Lubbock, Texas, this weekend. The 6-5 Groves, the Minnesota Gatorade Player of the Year, averaged a state-best 34.2 points per game this past season.
He had committed to Yale as a junior last year, but he recently reopened his recruitment and on Monday received offers from Texas Tech as well as the Gophers and Wisconsin.
Groves told the Minnesota Star Tribune this past week he had hoped to take an unofficial visit to the Gophers soon, but Texas Tech coach Grant McCasland — who led the Red Raiders to the Elite Eight last month — snared him before that trip was made.
“I like what’s going on over at Tech,” Groves said last week. “They almost took down Florida, the national champs. Texas Tech had a phenomenal team last year. They have lots of studs returning and coming in out of the transfer portal.”

To try and decide each week where and what to eat around the basin can be a challenge – there are so many amazing choices
In this feature we’ll dive into dishes that will surely satisfy those hunger pangs and leave you wondering where to go next
my mind instantly goes to a dish I had while visiting Spain years ago
While this week’s feature wasn’t exactly the same dish I had there
it definitely had many of the same feels – which was s a great reminder
I want to touch on the base of this dish: farro
absorbing each of the flavors before being placed on the dish and partnered up with cherry tomatoes and blistered kale
The pan seared Atlantic salmon is then placed on top and garnished with a fresh salsa cruda and crispy salmon skin
The dish eats super light but also packed with flavor
and burnt green onion) marries up perfectly with the slight sweetness of the salmon and the earthiness of the farro
The pops of cherry tomato brighten up each bite while the kale provides the peppery counterbalance
If you want to drop the mic with crispiness
the chicharron-style fish skin provides all you need
With the weather still not sure if it wants to go full springtime or keep dabbing patches of winter
this dish fits both seasons equally well as a go-between

(KION-TV) -- It was a windy day at the Good Old Days street festival in Pacific Grove Saturday
The 66th annual Good Old Days provided a good time for patrons and businesses alike
Lighthouse Avenue packed with people looking for a good deal
“Pacific Grove's Good Old Days is an annual event that everyone always looks forward to," said Scott Soifer
who has owned the Pacific Grove pub for one-and-a-half years
says that the event isn't just important for vendors
we’re all excited because everybody comes from around the area to see what is going on in pacific grove and listen to our music and sample our food," he said
and even in windy conditions that didn't stop folks from coming out
Soifer says that they are finding that more of the visitors this year are from surrounding areas rather from larger distances
"Our commitment to the folks in Fresno and Sacramento is that much stronger," he said
"We’re really excited to see those folks coming in here.”
I’ve been an international professional writer and performer for over 25 years

Germany – Every Panther seemed to have the same reaction when the final whistle blew of Saturday afternoon’s 2-2 tie between Ramstein and Stuttgart
“I was relieved that Ramstein didn’t score (again),” Stuttgart center back Christian Groves said
“But I was confident that we could get that tie.”
Nobody would have faulted Groves and the Panthers (5-0-1
4-0-1) if they weren’t so convinced during the match
Stuttgart went down a man when Dom Tondre received a red card for extracurricular activity after the referee had stopped play
Coach Michael Stevenson described how his team took the lead originally against the run of play when Alejandro Rivera pounced on a rebound in the 24th minute
Now to hold on for 45 minutes after being on the back first for much of the first 35
That seemed like a tall task – one in which his Panthers succeeded
we’re losing the possession battle and now we’re down a dude,” Stevenson said
so we’re very fortunate with the result we got.”
also expressed his contentment with the draw as his Royals (5-1-1
That control turned into almost one-way traffic after the red card
“It felt like a championship game,” Ludes said
The only positive Stevenson could take from the red card was it happened minutes before halftime
That gave the Panthers an opportunity to regroup and draw up new tactics to deploy in the second half
That plan: abandon the right side completely and set two central defensive midfielders in front of a back five
The Panthers blocked shots from getting through to goalkeeper Zach Gelerter
who stepped between the sticks for the second half and recorded five saves
The Royals eventually broke through via Joseph Yost
cleaning up a pair of rebounds in the 57th and 65th minutes to give the Royals their first lead of the match
right time – that’s all that it is,” Yost said of his goals
Stuttgart’s James Sheppard got on the end of a long punt by Gelerter
dribbled to the right and then shot left past Ramstein Elliot Radosevich for the equalizer
“That really gave us hope to be able tie or maybe even win the game
picked our heads back up that the game is not over yet.”
That goal gave the Panthers hope beyond Saturday’s contest
The result means if Stuttgart beats Wiesbaden on May 10
the team will take the first seed into the DODEA European soccer championships on May 19-22 in the Kaiserslautern Military Community
picked up something just as important – belief they could come home with another title
“It just gives us the confidence going into Euros that we have what we need to be able to win Euros again and defend our title,” Yost said
Ramstein may have been down early in Saturday morning’s battle for first place with Stuttgart
but striker Claire Boynton had one piece of advice for her fellow Royals: “minor setback
“I know that some girls were a little nervous going into the game,” Boynton said
The Royals scored five unanswered goals to defeat the Panthers 5-1
6-0) clinched the top seed in the Division I European tournament in a few weeks with the victory
“We know that Stuttgart loves to come out guns blazing,” Ramstein coach Frances Watson said
“We were ready to see what they were going to come back with because we had full confidence in them that they were going to come back with something amazing.”
After going down via a Meredith Fleming goal in the 20th minute
Ava Smith equalized in the 34th minute when a Kayla Groat low cross found her wide open at the far post
Ramstein really turned up the screws during an 18-minute span in the second half with four goals
It began when Stella Alderink scored a rebound that had bounced off the crossbar in the 44th minute
midfielder Olivia Davis volleyed in a corner from captain Kyndra Brown
Groat’s shot from the left wing slipped under Stuttgart keeper Sophia Sirad to make it 4-1
Kylie Ascherl pulled back a pass to Boynton
“(Alderink) came in here super duper nervous to the program
and we have been motivating and uplifting her all season,” Boynton said
“Just to see her score and the excitement on her face
3-1-1) still had opportunities to get back into the match with seven shots on net
The ball seemed attracted to the Ramstein goalkeeper
who made four saves before halftime before being replaced
Watson said Bennett was motivated after missing last year’s title match against Stuttgart with an injury
“We were really excited to see what Bailey was capable of doing on the pitch today,” Watson said
“Bailey was able to come out and be that magnet and be the glue that stopped those balls.”
He said Stuttgart can’t afford to let up against Ramstein at all
“I think they’re disappointed in their performance today
but they’re hopeful for the future,” Kelly said

Calugar said she is running cross-filed because she believes a school board director’s role is to support the well-being of all students and teachers — regardless of political affiliation
"I decided to run for a position on the school board because I realized that standing on the sidelines and simply pointing out problems — whether related to budgeting
or overspending — won’t create solutions," Calugar said
"This is my way of giving back to the community and helping shape the future in a positive way."
Calugar has expressed she is firmly opposed to "boys participating in girls’ sports," and believes in protecting fairness and opportunities for female student athletes

LeVault supports the use of our public tax dollars toward responsible spending for student-centered programs
She said she is running after feeling concerned with the school board for years
and observing valuable programs lose funding

I will be the kind of School Board member who constantly asks questions
As a father of three students in the Spring Grove Area School District
Tracy Prince is passionate about the district and wants to create a better culture for students
"The biggest thing is making sure there is a future plan," said Prince
"We're flying by the seat of our pants making decisions that are retroactive rather than proactive," which includes waiting for teachers to retire before replacing them
He is passionate about the music and arts programs offered to students
as well as physical education and activities
Prince also believes it's important to keep the curriculum "well-balanced" and offer career-centered vocational electives for students to develop hands-on learning experiences

George Groves suggests Chris Eubank Jr should consider retirement
Chris Eubank Jr may have scored a big win over Conor Benn in their second generation grudge match
It was clear to anyone who watched the fight that Eubank had to dig deep and fight through turbulent moments when he was physically hurt a few times and he immediately had to go to the hospital after the decision to be treated and monitored
Former Eubank opponent George Groves tells Sky Sports that he has no desire to see a potential rematch between Eubank and Benn
as he urges Eubank to walk away from the sport at this point
But I think he went straight to hospital and didn’t come home till Monday morning
So I think he should leave his career there
it would always be ‘what if I had the Benn fight’,” Groves added
Groves would continue by saying that there’s no other fight out there for Eubank that will live up to what his fight with Benn was and that should further implore him to hang up the gloves
Of course there is still the lure of a potential fight between Eubank and Canelo Alvarez
which Eubank has long expressed interest in
Anyone who fights Canelo earns a massive payday so that will certainly be something that catches the strict attention of Eubank
who hasn’t announced any plans to call it quits just yet

while helping State Police with the continued investigation."
