Ally Sentnor said she was "starstruck" after hearing one of her idols
compare her to none other than Lionel Messi
Heath made the comparison during "The Re-CAP Show," which she hosts with her partner and Angel City FC forward Christen Press
"I think she's phenomenal," Heath said of the U.S. women's national team and Utah Royals attacker.
"Ally Sentnor is a must-watch. Her rookie season, she was doing things that I haven't seen anyone do in this league, period. We've seen glimpses of it with the U.S. women's national team as well.
"I'm going to say something very strong right now. I have not seen a woman's player that has demonstrated Messi-like qualities. The way that I will describe it is the way that she moves, and especially in the pocket, and her ability to have equal amounts of goals and assists, to me, is a trait that I haven't seen in the women's game."
Sentnor burst onto the scene in 2024, a year that saw her named a NWSL Rookie of the Year finalist, U.S. Soccer Young Female Player of the Year, and also featured her first senior cap with the USWNT.
The 21-year-old has carried that momentum into 2025, earning several more USWNT caps and scoring a screamer against Colombia on her first start.
Sentnor was asked about Heath's comments following the Royals' 2-0 loss to the North Carolina Courage on Saturday.
"I was a little bit starstruck all day yesterday, I'm not gonna lie," Sentnor said, adding that Heath attending the University of North Carolina influenced her own decision to play for the Tar Heels.
"Tobin is a player that I've looked up to for a very, very long time. [She's] one of the reasons I committed to go to North Carolina in the first place, so to have her say those words about me not only gives me confidence in a time where our team isn't doing as well, but just really makes me continue to fight for my dreams and my goals."
Though she admitted that being compared to Messi may be slight overkill, Sentnor said she wants to impact games in a similar manner to the Argentine legend.
"I will never be Messi," Sentnor said. "I have so much respect for him and I watch him all the time, so I do try to emulate some of my game off of him.
"But I love players like him. Watching some of those Champions League games this week, those players that when they get on the ball, you just kind of hold your breath. You know something really great is going to happen.
"So I want to try to be that player for both my team and for the fans. They deserve to have fun watching. So I want to bring that to the women's game, while also contributing to goals and and wins for this team."

I wish we could say that things have drastically improved since this time but we seem to be going backwards again now.”
“I was sort of at the time, ‘Oh, OK… whatever.’ I’m always like, ‘It’s all in good fun,’” Jake said
‘It’s not a joke to me — I don’t want to make any jokes about it.’”
“The pure fact of it is it transcends a label; it’s human
get over the fact that there’s two men — that’s the point!” Heath said
“The movie is not a story about an epidemic or a virus or something that can be cured in a hospital
We’re showing that love between two men is just as infectious and emotional and strong and pure as it is with heterosexual love,” he added
several fans wound up discussing how horribly Brokeback Mountain was treated amid its release
with the actors consistently questioned about its gay love portrayal and
finding themselves at the center of anti-gay jokes
One person cited the 2006 MTV Movie & TV Awards, where Justin Timberlake and Eva Mendes presented Jake with the “Best Kiss” award. When Eva read out, “The best kiss goes to…” Justin said
it’s the fellas,” before jokingly swerving Jake on stage

There are no candidates on the ballot for a three-year term on the Municipal Light Board or a three-year term on the Mohawk Trail Regional School District School Committee

and passed away at his beloved home in Augusta
dedication to doing his best in all endeavors
Lewis lived on his family’s farm and
pitched in to help with the farm’s many chores
When he wasn’t playfully teasing his brothers and sisters
he pulled weeds in the cotton patch and shook dirt off the freshly harvested peanuts before they were set out to dry
Lewis even claimed a farm animal for himself: a white goat became his special pet
coming and going through the back door of the house as it pleased!
he received his parents’ permission to enlist in the United States Navy
he served on the USS Salisbury Sound in Okinawa
Japan in addition to his deployment to the Philippines
George found that his family had been forced to leave their beloved Hawthorne farm because the land had been claimed by the federal government to build the Savannah River Site (SRS)
George fulfilled the promise he had made to his parents nearly 4 years earlier by continuing his high school education
He drove the local school bus while completing his final year of high school and graduated from Statesboro High School in 1955
Soon thereafter George began working as a Mail Carrier for the United States Postal Service
His clients were always impressed with George’s kind manner
superior professionalism and dedication to serving them
When a stray dog followed him day after day on his assigned mail route
he adopted the dog and took Pluto home to be part of the family
George was recognized for 30 years of driving his mail truck without any tickets or violations
He may have perfected his driving skills early in life when Grandmother McClain allowed him (and only him) to drive her Model A Ford!
Over the years the Heaths traveled to Germany
and several other states while visiting their son Stanley
Following his well-earned retirement from the Post Office after almost 43 years of service
Lewis and Ann spent hours each day working in their yard
He took pride in keeping the pine straw raked and the hedges neatly clipped
even caring for his neighbors’ yards when they were unable to do so
Lewis thrived on projects like pouring a cement pathway in the backyard
building a wooden play structure for his grandchildren
For the last 14 years George volunteered weekly for the Savannah River Archeological Research Program (SRARP) where he shared his personal recollections and experiences as a one-time resident of Hawthorne
When walking through land that was originally part of Hawthorne
George could identify the location of his family’s home by finding the many rose bushes his mother planted all those years ago or the long-leaf pine tree that marked the boundary of his family’s farm
He took responsibility and commitment seriously
and rarely missed his volunteer day with SRARP
George was featured in SRARP’s short documentary
“Reconstructing Hawthorne” which received several local awards
The film can be viewed here https://vimeo.com/183063004
George Lewis Heath is survived by his devoted wife of 69+ years
He was heart-broken by the untimely death of his younger son Stanley Neal Heath (Amie) in 2022
Adoring grandchildren are Lauren Heath (Jesse)
as well as three precious great-grandchildren
Lewis showed a strong interest in family history and genealogy
often sharing stories about his late parents
he enjoyed spending time with his siblings and did so quite often: Betty Heath Dye (Harold
(Jackie); the late Daniel Martin Heath (Glenda); Mildred Heath Boswell; and the late Earlene Heath Bennett (Bobby).

OK (KTUL) — The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced the sentencing of 46-year-old Heath Lloyd Taylor
Taylor was sentenced to life in prison for drug conspiracy
Taylor’s co-defendants were sentenced at hearings held between October 16
The following seven members of the drug trafficking organization were sentenced for drug conspiracy:
Five more members of the drug trafficking organization were sentenced for possession with intent to distribute controlled substances:
“There should never be any doubt that there are countless victims of drug trafficking
and the violence associated with it,” said DEA Dallas Special Agent in Charge Eduardo A
“Defendant Taylor and his associates took advantage of individuals and showed no concern for those who stood in their path of destruction
Sentences of this nature are a win for our victims and a warning to drug traffickers.”
“Drug trafficking and the illegal activity associated with it continues to threaten the safety of the general public throughout our communities
Life in a federal prison should serve as a reminder to those who think they fly under the radar that they are and will continue to be our target
ATF remains committed to working with our law enforcement partners to keep illegal substances out of our communities and investigating those responsible,” said ATF Special Agent in Charge Bennie Mims
“This was an outstanding joint investigation with our state and federal partners to dismantle and prosecute a complex criminal organization,” said OBN Director Donnie Anderson
“We want this to send a strong message that we will aggressively pursue those who think they can safely run their criminal network while behind bars.”
“The sentencings announced today conclude a months-long investigation and prosecution of a nefarious group that distributed large quantities of dangerous narcotics in and around the Poteau area,” said United States Attorney Christopher J
“Thanks to the cooperative work of federal
Taylor and his co-defendants are off the streets and their drug operation has ended.”

Two Heath High School wrestling coaches violated Title IX policy at Heath City Schools after investigators allege they sexually harassed multiple students
The records, which The Advocate obtained Wednesday through a records request, state the coaches “engaged in hostile environment sexual harassment” against the students. The coaches resigned in February and March 2024 after the district put them on leave in January
The district launched a Title IX investigation after receiving information that caused it to do so
Superintendent Trevor Thomas said the district hired third parties to handle the investigation and that they released their findings Feb
and that is why we took this seriously,” Thomas told The Advocate
The Advocate is not naming the coaches because neither have been charged with any crimes
“The conduct of both (coaches in relation to) students in the wrestling program lacked professionalism and demonstrated poor judgement and lack of appropriate boundaries and discipline in violation of this policy,” an investigator wrote in a report
the investigators recommend that the district permanently prohibit the coaches from contacting students
which Thomas said the district had already done
They also recommended disciplinary sanctions against the coaches for violating Title IX and staff conduct policies
The coaches had seven days from receiving the ruling to appeal it but did not do so
One issued a request to appeal after that period
Heath police say some students on the wrestling team alleged that the coaches called them derogatory names and told them they looked like they were engaging in sexual activity while wrestling
The coaches would also tell some of the athletes about women they were sleeping with
Both coaches also helped coach varsity football

Kendi speaking on “Stamped From The Beginning” at Toronto International Film Festival
(Photo by Tommaso Boddi via Getty.)The efforts of the Trump administration to purge DEI (“diversity
equity and inclusion”) programs from the federal government bureaucracy have revealed an enormous amount of confusion about what DEI actually is (or was)
In part this is due to the way it was sold by its practitioners
who often presented it as a straightforward extension of the ideas and principles that animated the civil rights movement of the 1960s
many of their claims were a lot more controversial
If there is any hope for resisting the full-fledged assault that is taking place
it should begin with a re-examination of these claims
with an eye to producing a more defensible body of doctrine
Like most people who work in large bureaucratic organizations
I have attended several diversity seminars and training sessions over the past decade
I also chose to observe a similar session in my children’s high school
I had a rather foreboding sense that the ideas being presented about racial justice were not just controversial but unnecessarily controversial
I felt that the instructors were making claims and picking fights over issues that didn’t really need to be settled for the purposes of the program
DEI proponents have encouraged an extremely controversial approach to affirmative action
that in many cases abandoned any concern over procedural fairness in order to achieve targeted outcomes
Many Republicans who complain about DEI use the term as a synonym for this style of affirmative action
What I would like to focus on instead are the controversial theoretical and philosophical claims that played such an important role in the ubiquitous training seminars (e.g
I trust that these claims will be recognizable to anyone who has attended such a seminar (if not then congratulations
you’ve been attending better seminars than I have)
I want to pick out five issues that I think need to be re-examined
The first three constitute factual claims that
despite having been widely accepted in the progressive discourse around race in the United States are either false or else constitute extreme simplifications of complex states of affairs
The final two constitute claims about justice that are either incorrect or hugely controversial
Persuasion is also the home of American Purpose, Francis Fukuyama’s blog, and the Bookstack podcast
simply click on “Email preferences” below and make sure you toggle on the relevant buttons
Email preferences
I do not want to suggest that the current backlash could have been avoided
if only proponents of DEI had been more cautious in their claims
It does however seem to me that if one is going to address such an important set of civic issues
and especially if the training is going to be mandatory
then the curriculum needs to be absolutely bullet-proof
or unnecessarily controversial claims—otherwise you are just handing ammunition to your critics
exactly how the standard DEI curriculum was handled
many people will easily recognize the following claims
which I tend to think of as “the five dogmas of DEI”:
It is important for people to know that “race” is no longer considered a useful scientific concept
It is also important for them to know that the major physiological differences that can be observed between human population groups from different geographic regions
are quite minor from a biological point of view
So even though human beings may look quite different from one another in our external appearance
these differences are superficial; from a biological perspective we are all very closely related
and quite similar with respect to our major features
or even one gene distinguishes all the members of one so-called race from all the members of another so-called race.”)
These claims are at best confusing (in part because they invoke very difficult philosophical concepts
what does it mean for something to be “real”?)
But there is also at least one sense in which the claim is false
and ancestry is a straightforward biological concept
(Determination here means that if two individuals have the same ancestry
The claim made in The Power of an Illusion is actually a confused interpretation of an argument made a long time ago by Richard Lewontin
who calculated that approximately 85% of the genetic variation found in humans occurred between individuals
and 15% between geographically dispersed population groups
that race had no taxonomic significance in human biology
This statement is often interpreted as the claim that race has no “genetic basis,” or that it is “not real.”
The problem with Lewontin’s argument is that
even though a point-to-point comparison of each genetic locus will not allow one to distinguish members of one race from another
examining the correlations that exist within all of this variation can be used to determine an individual’s ancestry
send it off to a company that does DNA testing
and find out what your racial background is
It does nothing to advance the cause of racial justice to deny these well-known facts
If educators really need to use philosophical terminology, the correct thing to say would be that race is not a “natural kind.” Race is a folk concept, similar to when we say that someone has “caught a cold.” There is, in a sense, no such thing as a “cold” virus, because the term refers to a heterogeneous collection of viruses that don’t have much in common
Scientific journals therefore do not refer to cold viruses
they use much more specific terminology (rhinovirus
But it would be highly misleading to claim
that colds are “an illusion,” or that they are a “social construct.”
DEI Must ChangeJohn McWhorter·Feb 7Read full story2
Stereotypes Are FalseConsider a claim about groups
such as “men are stronger than women.” This can be interpreted in different ways
If it is understood as a claim about averages (“on average men are stronger than women”) or probabilities (“any randomly selected man is likely to be stronger than a randomly selected woman”) then it is true
But if it is taken as a universal generalization (“each and every man is stronger than each and every woman”) then it is false
It follows that universal instantiation based on such a claim (“he is a man
so he must be stronger than her”) is invalid
via unwarranted universal generalization and instantiation
This reasoning is not difficult to explain or understand
and the intuition about fairness is very widely shared
The takeaway lesson is that we need to be very cautious when moving from making claims about groups to making claims about individuals
the way that many anti-racism educators have tried to encourage this caution is by telling students that these beliefs about groups are stereotypes
The easiest shortcut to making this argument is to claim (fallaciously) that the statement expressing the stereotype is inaccurate because it is false as a universal generalization
This has resulted in enormous confusion among Americans about what is and is not racist. For example, expressing the view that “Asians work hard in school” would be widely derided as the expression of a racist stereotype. Yet even though this claim is not true universally, it is nevertheless accurate—on average Asian students in the United States spend much more time doing schoolwork than white or Black students
it expresses an important fact about the world
since hard work is the predominant factor explaining Asian-American educational success
educators may put themselves in the unenviable position of either denying
what seem to most people obvious statements of fact
is further exacerbated in discussions of “implicit bias” or “unconscious bias,” since many of these biases arise from stereotypes (which generate the implicit associations
The problem is that the term “bias” is intrinsically pejorative
It sounds contradictory to speak of an “accurate bias,” and yet many of the examples given in anti-racism exercises of implicit or unconscious biases are based on stereotypes that are accurate
it reinforces the mistaken idea that all stereotypes are inaccurate
This again commits the educator to denying plain facts about the world
In some cases this is probably meant as a bromide rather than a statement of fact
to encourage optimism about the potential for progressive social change
While obviously we are capable of suppressing innate dispositions
it is true that racism would be a great deal easier to eliminate if it was entirely learned behavior—we could simply stop teaching it to children or modeling it for them
Contrary to this optimistic claim, the current scientific outlook on the psychological foundations of racism is nuanced. The basic tendency to classify the social world into in-group/out-group
and to act more cooperatively toward members of the in-group than the out-group
and so those who fixate on race as the primary basis of in-group/out-group differentiation have most likely picked this up from the social environment
and because the physical differences underlying racial classification are fairly salient
children are perfectly capable of inventing racism for themselves without any instruction (or on the basis of extremely subtle cues)
they need not witness any intergroup antagonism or prejudice
Even observing patterns of mutual support may cause them to demarcate the social world along racial lines
which may combine with their own exophobic tendencies to generate racism
If one is dogmatic in the insistence that racism must have been learned from someone
it can easily produce a witch-hunt mentality
aimed at locating the sources of the racism that the supposedly innocent children are suddenly manifesting
This can lead teachers to suspect that parents are racist
parents to suspect that schools are racist
(The difficulty that everyone has locating all of this racism probably contributes to the belief in widespread subconscious racism or implicit bias.)
although we are not hardwired to be racist
humans are by nature groupish and exophobic
dispositions that can easily lead to racism
the social emotions implicated in this complex lead many people to find racism psychologically gratifying
We are not all innocent until corrupted by society; the seeds of racism lie within our own minds
Our job must be to ensure that they are not allowed to grow
which requires that we be vigilant with respect to our own psychological tendencies
McIntosh’s original checklist has attracted hundreds of imitators and has proven to be a lightning-rod for controversy
Many people have objected to these checklists on the grounds that they are divisive
but there is a more glaring problem with them
which is that they (almost invariably) fail to draw an important distinction between the forms of privilege that they identify
which whites enjoy by virtue of their membership in their racial group
but simply because their racial group forms the demographic majority in American society
This confusion has become ubiquitous in DEI instruction. For example, one privilege checklist widely used with U.S
people believe that I am trustworthy and I will not steal something,” but also
“The majority of the staff at my school look like me.” These are obviously quite different
A white person studying in China might still enjoy the former privilege but obviously would not enjoy the second
That’s because the second question is not really diagnosing racial privilege
it is merely identifying consequences of being in the majority demographic group
The problem with failing to draw this distinction is that
while the advantages that stem from racial privilege are clearly unjust (everyone should be able to walk around a store without attracting suspicion merely because of their race)
the advantages that stem from majority privilege are not necessarily unjust (should everyone be able to attend a school at which the majority of teachers are of their own race?)
the benefits are just a consequence of having mainstream tastes and preferences
McIntosh lists the greater ease with which white Americans are able to find a competent hairdresser as a form of white privilege
But she then goes on to claim that white privilege creates a system of racial dominance
This invalid inference leads to all sorts of problematic conclusions
the inclusion of majority privilege on these checklists is tacitly anti-integrationist
insofar as it suggests that members of racial minority groups are dominated merely by being in the minority within a society
This conclusion has been amplified by the tendency to use morally charged terms
such as “white supremacy,” to describe any institution in which whites form the numerical majority
the term “white supremacy” invoked images of the KKK
and so the demand to “end white supremacy in America” would have received overwhelming endorsement
Through the confusion of majority and racial privilege
the demand to end white supremacy has now become a great deal more controversial
because of the implication that white supremacy can only be ended by making it so that whites no longer form a demographic majority
this claim lends support to the “great replacement theory,” which is often dismissed as paranoid
but has received unexpected support from the use of these privilege checklists with their clear implication that ending white privilege will require drastic reduction in the white share of the population
Another major concept popularized by DEI initiatives is “structural racism” or “systemic racism.” These terms are intended to describe circumstances in which larger social systems reproduce objectionable racial inequalities
without any specific social actor necessarily engaging in discriminatory behavior
many facially neutral job requirements can have the effect of limiting access for members of certain racial groups
It is therefore important to examine any requirement that has this sort of disparate impact in order to determine whether it is justifiable
This set of ideas has unfortunately encouraged another shortcut, in which DEI educators treat the mere existence of racial disparity as sufficient evidence of “systemic racism.” This generates the view that Matt Yglesias refers to as “disparityism,” which basically collapses the distinction between structural racism and racial disparities in outcome
Instead of treating unequal outcomes as grounds for suspicion that some unjust discrimination is occurring
which must be investigated further in order to render a verdict
disparityism jumps directly to the conclusion that the outcome
(This is most prominent in the work of Ibram X
who defines racism as the existence of racial disparity in outcome.)
To arrange things in a style that will be familiar to DEI supporters, I would recommend the following:
Given the unpleasant character of many of the attacks that have been made against DEI education
and the teaching of “critical race theory,” one would like to be able to offer a wholehearted defense of the curriculum
it would have to be the case that all empirical claims were based on clear scientific evidence
and every normative statement was well thought-out
DEI has contributed to a great deal of confusion about race and racism in American society
I understand that some things are difficult to explain
and that the claims on the right-hand side of the table above are more complicated than the ones on the left
But they are also a great deal more accurate
While I sympathize with the motives of those who make the claims on the left
and try to make the argument a bit too easy
Proponents of DEI need to come back with something stronger
with a body of doctrine that one can reasonably expect the entire population to accept

In-group bias can occur along entirely arbitrary lines and has formed naturally among kids wearing red versus blue t-shirts, or being allocated into groups by adults based on their alleged fondness for one painter over another. Should we say that being groupish can easily lead to T-shirtism?
It's also not clear that in-group bias makes us innately exophobic. In fact, studies suggest people are mostly neutral / indifferent to "innocent" strangers. Exophobia kicks in when our ingroup feels in some way threatened - the defense mechanism is innate but needs to be triggered by a real or perceived threat, whether e.g. from predators or a rival human group.
While race itself may no longer be the barrier to success that it once was, as evidenced by the academic achievements of African immigrants in the UK and US, the insidious impact of sustained intergenerational poverty and underachievement has created a different form of social capital.
That heritage of slavery and racism persisted through the twentieth century in Jim Crow laws. Black and white people were not allowed to marry in Virginia until 1967. DEI programs may have made inaccurate or controversial claims, but the legacy of racial prejudice and discrimination remains.

(Photo by Tommaso Boddi via Getty.)The efforts of the Trump administration to purge DEI (“diversity
equity and inclusion”) programs from the federal government bureaucracy have revealed an enormous amount of confusion about what DEI actually is (or was)
I also chose to observe a similar session in my children’s high school
I felt that the instructors were making claims and picking fights over issues that didn’t really need to be settled for the purposes of the program

or unnecessarily controversial claims—otherwise you are just handing ammunition to your critics
which I tend to think of as “the five dogmas of DEI”:
It is important for people to know that “race” is no longer considered a useful scientific concept
or even one gene distinguishes all the members of one so-called race from all the members of another so-called race.”)
what does it mean for something to be “real”?)
The claim made in The Power of an Illusion is actually a confused interpretation of an argument made a long time ago by Richard Lewontin
This statement is often interpreted as the claim that race has no “genetic basis,” or that it is “not real.”
The problem with Lewontin’s argument is that
examining the correlations that exist within all of this variation can be used to determine an individual’s ancestry
that colds are “an illusion,” or that they are a “social construct.”
such as “men are stronger than women.” This can be interpreted in different ways
This has resulted in enormous confusion among Americans about what is and is not racist. For example, expressing the view that “Asians work hard in school” would be widely derided as the expression of a racist stereotype. Yet even though this claim is not true universally, it is nevertheless accurate—on average Asian students in the United States spend much more time doing schoolwork than white or Black students
is further exacerbated in discussions of “implicit bias” or “unconscious bias,” since many of these biases arise from stereotypes (which generate the implicit associations
The problem is that the term “bias” is intrinsically pejorative
It sounds contradictory to speak of an “accurate bias,” and yet many of the examples given in anti-racism exercises of implicit or unconscious biases are based on stereotypes that are accurate
it is true that racism would be a great deal easier to eliminate if it was entirely learned behavior—we could simply stop teaching it to children or modeling it for them
Contrary to this optimistic claim, the current scientific outlook on the psychological foundations of racism is nuanced. The basic tendency to classify the social world into in-group/out-group
Perhaps the single most influential piece of writing in the DEI canon is Peggy McIntosh’s “White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack.” This article introduced the idea of a “privilege checklist,” which white students are asked to go through in order to reflect upon the advantages they have enjoyed in life by virtue of their race
McIntosh’s original checklist has attracted hundreds of imitators and has proven to be a lightning-rod for controversy
This confusion has become ubiquitous in DEI instruction. For example, one privilege checklist widely used with U.S
people believe that I am trustworthy and I will not steal something,” but also
“The majority of the staff at my school look like me.” These are obviously quite different
That’s because the second question is not really diagnosing racial privilege
such as “white supremacy,” to describe any institution in which whites form the numerical majority
the term “white supremacy” invoked images of the KKK
and so the demand to “end white supremacy in America” would have received overwhelming endorsement
this claim lends support to the “great replacement theory,” which is often dismissed as paranoid

Making judgments of equality and inequality between groups is incredibly difficult for this reason
and the teaching of “critical race theory,” one would like to be able to offer a wholehearted defense of the curriculum

Marketers couldn't discern how many people engaged with an ad (let alone whether it led to a sale)
Static forms of advertising also couldn't be adjusted in real-time
making it challenging for brands to enhance their messaging or target specific consumer segments
Digital advertising has changed the industry
Businesses can now leverage data analytics to track performance and adjust campaigns in real-time
the digital landscape doesn't stop evolving
founder of Heath Media and an expert in digital marketing
content creation and social media advertising
asserts that brands must adapt to new technologies
consumer expectations and competitive pressures to keep ahead of the game
Heath, with over 15 years of experience, has worked with businesses of all sizes to develop high-performing ad campaigns. He has built a community in the advertising space, with over 350,000 subscribers on YouTube. Through Heath Media
he helps brands maximize their advertising potential
with an aim to create campaigns that drive clicks and business growth
His in-depth understanding of the advertising ecosystem guides him in predicting industry shifts and helping companies make data-driven marketing decisions
Navigating AI in the Landscape of AdvertisingHeath states that one of the most striking shifts in digital advertising today is the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI)
He notes that AI has long been present in online advertising to some extent
machine learning or automated bidding strategies
its impact has expanded dramatically in recent years
Platforms like Meta and Google now handle much of the heavy lifting in targeting and optimization
Success in advertising now hinges on factors such as the ad creative's quality and the offer's strength
Many brands struggle in this new landscape because they focus on overly safe ads that fail to capture attention
"Digital users are exposed to hundreds of ads every day
it's natural to be ignored," Heath remarks
visually striking and engaging ad creatives that grab attention immediately
The Challenge of Short-Term Thinking in Ad AssessmentHeath also points to the issue of short-term thinking in ad measurement
Platforms like Meta and Google provide real-time data
allowing businesses to track ad performance instantly
This can be problematic because brands tend to undervalue the long-term impact of their advertising efforts due to this short-term focus
Those who only measure the immediate return on ad spend (ROAS) and ignore the broader effects of brand building may face additional challenges
often take a long-term view because they recognize that repeated exposure to an ad can lead to purchases weeks
The tides in digital advertising are bound to change
presenting new opportunities and challenges
believes one of the upcoming shifts will be improvements in tracking accuracy
Privacy regulations have made it more challenging for advertisers to track user behavior across the internet
Heath predicts that major platforms will find ways to improve data tracking while still complying with privacy laws
"If platforms can track ROI more accurately
brands will be more willing to spend on ads
This would lead to even more competitive digital marketplaces," he shares
Changes in Content Creation Besides smarter tracking
Health anticipates AI revolutionizing content creation
As AI-powered creative tools become more sophisticated
small and mid-sized businesses may be able to access production-quality ad creatives without needing expensive design teams
Heath believes AI-driven content generation could level the playing field
allowing smaller brands to compete with industry giants
A Look at the Role of Influencer MarketingLastly
Heath foresees influencer marketing becoming more pivotal in digital advertising
He has observed that brands that combine paid media with influencer partnerships often see exponential growth
Leveraging influencers' credibility and audience trust can
This will translate to higher engagement and conversion rates

the core of who Brandon Singleton was always remained the same
kind-hearted person as an adult that he was when he was a little boy
with success in almost every sport coming so naturally to him
His passion for sports continued his whole life and was something he passed on to both of his sons
He even found a way to maximize his time outdoors
spending years as an irrigation technician for the grounds of many golf courses
Brandon was always so happy working outdoors with his hands
But those annual beach trips with his family by the ocean were when you saw Brandon with the biggest smiles
One of the things that made us all want to spend more time with Brandon was that he knew how to have fun
Whether it was laughing and joking with his family or having mischievous fun with his high school buddies
He made things happier and lively but he was also loyal
always taking up for and standing by those he loved
Brandon and Heather were inseparable from the very beginning
The high school sweethearts grew up together and their love grew right along with them
romantic love for one another but the very deepest of friendships during their 32 years of marriage
Not many people get to experience the kind of love that Brandon and Heather shared - and will continue to share because their love for one another is the kind that transcends physical time on Earth
Any tribute to Brandon must focus on what he viewed as his greatest accomplishment in life – his family
Brandon is survived by his loving wife Heather and their three beautiful children: a daughter Sydney (Dustin) of Nashville
They each embody the very best parts of their father and most importantly
they had a daddy who left no doubts about how much he loved them and how proud he was of each of them
who gave Brandon a home filled with good food
and love and support for everything he did; his brother Slade (Jessica) with whom he shared not just the bond of brotherhood but the closest of friendships
all of Cherokee; an aunt Linda Craig (Gary) of Candler; an uncle Kevin Brown (Angie) of Clyde; and nieces and nephews: Natalie
Brandon is preceded in death by his father
who considered Brandon and Slade the lights of his life; his grandparents
We take comfort that he has reunited in heaven with these people who meant so much to him
Brandon figured out the most important things in life before many of us did
but because of his loving wife and three beautiful children
He reminded us all that his family was all he ever needed in life
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Brandon will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday
in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm prior to the funeral service
Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is deeply honored to be caring for the Singleton family

Retired pro bodybuilder Phil Heath is often considered the most genetically gifted athlete to step on a bodybuilding stage
Olympia titles — tied with Arnold Schwarzenegger for the second-most wins in history
and knowledge greatly influenced his success
In a late April 2025 interview with Chris Williamson
Heath specified the 10 exercises that helped propel him to the top
[Related: Is the Overhead Press Worth It for Hypertrophy?]
Heath’s instinctual first choice is the incline press
noting the perks of upper chest aesthetics
I always want that shelf up here; it looks great in t-shirts
Incline movements bias the clavicular head of the pectoralis major. (1) These fibers run down from the collarbone and are crucial to the mid-pec gap. Dumbbells off the shoulder comfort.
Lateral raises are unmatched for medial delt development. Why not overhead presses? Though an efficient delt exercise, shoulder presses bias the front delts regardless of the angle.

Heath suggested keeping the arms straight and raising the weights to the sides
Some recommend avoiding leading with the elbows
Heath ensures symmetrical elbow flexor growth via preacher curls
Preacher curls provide stability and shoulder flexion
allowing for better focus and lower biceps tension
While preacher curls contribute to biceps gains, the brachialis muscle may grow more from preacher curls than the biceps. (2) Curls with the arms behind the body appear to be a superior biceps builder
as they train the biceps in their lengthened positions

“Hack squats for sure,” Heath said regarding how he builds massive legs. “It feels powerful to be in that position.”
The Hack squat platform allows Heath to squat safely and with heavy weights in any stance, depending on which part of the leg he aims to target.

Face pulls are Heath’s pick for 3-D rear delts; they strengthen the shoulder complex, help correct front-to-back imbalances, and develop the upper back. Attach the rope roughly eye-level, keep the forearms vertical, and keep the upper arms approximately parallel to the floor during the entire movement.
Triceps pushdowns are accessible, shoulder and elbow-friendly, and feel amazing. That said, don’t rely solely on pushdowns for triceps development, as they minimize the key stretch crucial to triceps growth.
“I’m getting a good stretch and different contractions,” Heath explained, compared to incline dumbbell presses. Flyes create greater chest expansion, enhancing tension and muscle damage across a wider area of pec fibers.

Heath goes underhanded when performing bent-over rows to avoid forearm strain and drive his elbows back
Pull-ups primarily target the lats. A wide grip helps involve more of the teres major. Electromyographic analysis found that using a wide, overhand grip maximizes upper lat activation. (3)

the lyrics can be hard for many deaf people to understand without being interpreted into American Sign Language — and most aren’t.
“It kind of blew my mind that there were deaf people out there who love music because my assumption is that they don’t listen to music because they can’t hear very well,” said Brandon Heath
“But what I’ve learned is the Deaf culture
They have learned how to live in this world — and it’s a world that does not really spend a lot of time accommodating them
Heath decided he wanted to be part of the solution
he released a fully interpreted album and found he was one of the first — if not the first — musician to do so
“The Ache,” is also fully interpreted.
For “The Ache,” he involved a friend he’s had since high school — Araya Willams
She is an interpreter for the Deaf and founder of Sonshine Interpreting
which provides “excellent [American Sign Language] interpreters who love Jesus for events
music and media because we desire to see more deaf people equipped for life and ministry.”
and we just had some great conversations about accessibility and music,” Williams said
“Once he could grasp the unmet needs — that the Deaf community are an unreached people and have a lack of access to a lot of things (like) church options
the Bible in their visual language and music — it has been so incredible to watch him take it and run with it in the space that God has given him and gifted him in
and I hear your heart and passion and I want that
I want to be an ally in the Deaf community.’”
Heath and Williams agree the Church should be the leaders of accessibility
The government requires the secular world to be accessible
But nonprofits and churches have exemptions and loopholes and as a result
a deaf person may want to go to church or an event
but it can be too expensive to get an interpreter
Deaf ministry catalyst for the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions
Out of the approximately 3,200 Southern Baptist churches in Alabama
only 30 provide access for the Deaf community to worship with them
resulting in only about 200 deaf people currently attending a Southern Baptist church in the state
it comes with a lot of trauma and hurt from the Christian space
I’m too expensive; I’m too distracting; I’m not worth your investment,’” Williams said
“What if the Christian space reflected the heart and hospitality of Jesus in not just waiting for that ticket to be purchased and then scrambling to figure out the budget
Or what if we had planned ahead of time to the point where the event or church reached out to say
‘There are excellent Deaf options here in our community
and how can we bless and edify Kingdom work happening at this tiny
little Deaf church that’s barely sustaining itself?’”
Heath has already decided that every future album he releases will be fully interpreted
He hopes other Christian artists will follow suit
he would also love to hire an interpreter to become part of his band
is about the loss of his parents who died in 2017 and 2023
is making peace with the time when his dad “made some mistakes” and left him and his mother
Even though “The Ache” makes no direct references
its theme reflects some of the same hurts many in the Deaf community experience.
“One of the things I’ve learned in the Deaf community is often it’s only the mother in a family who will learn sign language
The dads typically don’t take time to learn ASL
but I know a lot of deaf people have had a really hard father experience.
“I feel like these songs hopefully will connect with people who have had a similar experience to me — a father who didn’t try hard enough to be present
But also I hope they will find it in their hearts to not only forgive their fathers but pursue their fathers if they’re still living
I also hope this touches on this topic within the Deaf community.”
Church resources include a recording called “Deaf Artist and Worship Leaders in Christian Music,” which features Heath and three of the interpreters for “The Ache.” It is available here
