the two Martin County tornadoes resulted in at least two people being injured An EF3 tornado was confirmed Friday in northern St. Lucie County and southeast Indian River County but it was rated an EF2 going on around here,” Stephens said both ground and air units searched for Daniels During a press conference Tuesday afternoon Sheriff John Budensiek said they worked with witnesses to locate Daniels at his home and questioned him "He immediately brandished a knife and barricaded himself in this grooming house back here," Budensiek said in a video posted to Martin County Sheriff's Office Facebook page "Our deputies and our negotiators tried to talk to him for quite some time He stated that he wanted us to kill him—"suicide by cop." Of course we set a perimeter and did not allow him to make that happen." Budensiek said after a long time of negotiating they deployed tear gas and Daniels came out of the home and was taken into custody Budensiek said no one at the bank was injured Man in shock after learning his next-door neighbor was responsible for attempted armed robbery before he received any money from the bank,” he said obviously the bank employees were very shook up in this case.” A man who lives nextdoor to Daniels said he is shocked by incident so I’ve never seen something like this in my life,” Luis Gonzalez said Daniels faces attempted armed robbery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges When considering dining out in Martin County most people I talk to mention restaurants in Stuart where there are a plethora of great choices But we should not forget our neighbor to the south in Hobe Sound where several new restaurants have recently opened One of those is Sophia’s, which was newly launched in the former location of Kork and Del Bar It appears Sophia’s new owners have kept most of the prior décor I have always loved the stylish design of the restaurant space with the quaint building and large wooden pergola There are two inviting bars: indoors and outdoors undercover where music is played Wednesday through Sunday Each share was a hefty wedge of crisp iceberg lettuce shrouded in a rich blue cheese dressing bacon bits and a drizzle of balsamic glaze This was a soul-satisfying salad with both creamy and tangy flavors so I was not surprised when she ordered Sophia’s crabcakes ($35) thick patties were abundantly filled with Maryland crab and very few fillers and a side of creole Dijon mustard sauce Another ordered lobster and crab bisque ($12) which was heaped with seafood and a mellow sherry flavor which was a generous fillet encrusted in nutty pistachios with a sweet balsamic glaze The crispy fries were wonderfully seasoned and habit-forming Hubby ordered the Cajun shrimp & sausage pasta ($27) which was filled with spicy blackened shrimp and sausage and smothered in a pink sauce of cream and marinara over fettuccine My dinner was lobster tail ($29 or two for $46) There were a handful of desserts on the menu but our server recommended we try the orange creamsicle cake ($10) We reminisced about the Good Humor truck driving through the neighborhood vanilla custard and buttercream delivered a mouthwatering dessert I have the privilege of dining there and reviewing it But I sincerely hope the third coming of this lovely location and pretty little neighborhood gem settles in as Sophia’s for a long while The enthusiastic menu is geared to satisfy any appetite Lucie Regensdorf dines anonymously at the expense of TCPalm.
