he wants to continue to work in the following weeks
“This year I want to make a longer sectional run
I want to get some titles for our school and get tennis more known in the Hudson Falls community,” Potvin said
“It’s going to take a lot of extra practice in the coming weeks
I need to play more and get my confidence up
I need to mentally prepare myself for it.”

HUDSON FALLS – At the March 24 Hudson Falls Planning Board meeting
Bove Commercial Realty returned to the board with an application for a proposed car wash to be located at 23 Main Street
This vacant lot may one day become a car wash
The plan has been in the works for a couple years
Bove bought the lot from the previous owner and received approval to have that type of business at that location by the Zoning Board
Bove also owns the adjoining lot at 19-21 Main Street
the applicant representatives said the project will meet all setback requirements and needs no further variances at this point
showed the board drawings detailing the proposed layout of the building
which sits on the corner of Main Street’s intersection with John Street
Hall gave further details about traffic flows in and out of the proposed business from John Street and noted that standard use of the car wash bays would be about 10 to 12 minutes
suggesting limited traffic issues going in and out of the facility
Male associates raised concerns about traffic potentially piling up at the intersection and visibility issues
Palumbo suggested the DOT should be involved in the approval process as well
Village attorney William Nikas suggested moving the entrance/exit to the adjoining lot
the discussion was tabled so that Palumbo could review the application in more detail
and so the applicant representatives could discuss potentially changing the entrance/exit of the business
Public comment for the project remains open
the planning board also discussed applicant Edward Russo’s plan to construct four single-family homes located at 96-98 Feeder Street
was previously approved for a seven-lot subdivision
Ferguson explained that the lots would be accessed by a common driveway
and that each lot would have individual water and sewer services
Planning Board Chair David Hutchinson noted that while the former plan was previously approved
enough has changed to make it a wholly new application
meaning it would be open to public comment
One local resident raised traffic concerns and worried that the homes would be apartments
Russo reiterated that the homes would be single-story and sold
The board voted to give the plan a negative environmental declaration (meaning it didn’t present any adverse environmental impact) and approved the site plan application with the following conditions: approval from the water and sewer districts for hookups
a tree buffer “similar to the original application,” the submission of a stormwater plan with catch basins for the building permit application process
and the establishment of a shared maintenance agreement for the shared driveway

Hudson Falls Junior Brady Smith after the Tigers loss in the Class A semifinal to Catholic Central
Hudson Falls' Brady Smith (34) grabs a rebound over three Catholic Central defenders during their March 5 Section II Class A boys basketball semifinal at Cool Insuring Arena
GLENS FALLS — Hudson Falls found its way back into the Section II boys basketball semifinals at Cool Insuring Arena on Wednesday for the third time in four years
the Tigers could not overcome a 17-point third-quarter deficit as they fell to Catholic Central
battled back from as much as 15 points down in the second half to pull within two in the final seconds
the Crusaders made 10 of 13 foul shots in the fourth quarter
including seven of their last eight to seal victory
they performed above expectations all year long,” Hudson Falls head coach Greg Smith said
“We were a play or two away from being able to win that game
some turnovers that their defense caused us to make
we were looking to get quick steals and easy buckets
We fell short; it is what it is,” Tigers junior Brady Smith said
Hudson Falls' Jayden Hardwick puts up a shot over Catholic Central defenders with 6.1 seconds left in Wednesday night's Section II Class A boys basketball semifinal at Cool Insuring Arena
Hardwick's basket brought the Tigers within two points of the Crusaders in an exciting finish
The third-seeded Crusaders (14-8) advance to face unbeaten Glens Falls in the Class A championship game
as the 6-foot-7 forward totaled 32 points and 16 rebounds
He became the safe outlet down the stretch to inch the Tigers back into the game
that’s when we find guys with open shots,” Greg Smith said
“It was the same formula as most of the season
When you have an advantage you have got to try and use it.”
Hudson Falls' Jaymison Eisenhardt drives to the hoop for a layup over Catholic Central's Qwameik Smith during Wednesday night's Section II Class A boys basketball semifinal at Cool Insuring Arena
Jaymison Eisenhardt and Jayden Hardwick both finished with 11 points for the Tigers
and Cam Barber added nine points and eight rebounds
Catholic Central was led by junior Sei’Mir Roberson
Qwameik Smith was also a difference-maker for the Crusaders with 24 points
“(Qwameik) Smith shot so well from the 3-point line and was tough to stop,” Greg Smith said
and I think he’s the best guard in the area
and he did such a great job of attacking the rim.”
Greg Smith noted that the Tigers’ Class A semifinal appearances in 2022 and 2023 were losses to Mekeel Christian and Troy
CCHS will likely be moved up in class after back-to-back Class A finals appearances
“It is a frustrating positive for us to have been in the semifinals three of the last four years
and run into a (Christian) school who went independent
a year before they got the reclassification
and another Catholic school (CCHS) that will be (Class) AA next year,” he said
Hudson Falls' Nathan Gonyeau puts up a layup over Catholic Central's Louis Williams during Wednesday night's Section II Class A boys basketball semifinal at Cool Insuring Arena

“Losing these five seniors is going to be really tough to replace
These five seniors stepped in this year and did a great job for me,” Greg Smith said
“We basically had six starters this year because we fluctuated between Drew and Nate
Brady Smith returns to lead next year’s squad
“It was a great season; this is my third time here
I’m sad that we lost but I am glad that we came and made it and had a great season overall,” Brady Smith said

how things are going to go,” Indians head coach Pat Lilac said in a phone interview
“and we were really happy with how efficient we were on both sides of the ball.”
The Indians returned only big senior Logan Gonyea as a starter up front
with Greg Breault having played some guard last season
Newcomers Cole Bennett and Gavin Williams and first-year center Joe Erwin have jelled together despite the short season
“We’re really fortunate that we have a good offensive line coach in Kurt Conduzio
and our old line coach Tim Graham comes back to help,” Lilac said
“Kurt’s a teacher in the school and he’s a good educator
he does a really good job with drilling those kids and getting them to do what they have to do.”
Griffin Woodell and Aalijah Sampson each rushed for two touchdowns to power Glens Falls
The Indians also got short scoring runs from Aiden Hirsch and Noah Girard
who connected with Jackson Brand on a screen pass that Brand turned into a 49-yard touchdown
who completed all eight of his passes for 157 yards
scored on a bootleg on fourth and goal in the first quarter
Woodell rushed for 136 yards on 14 carries
Sampson is nearly healthy after a hamstring injury in a preseason scrimmage
which was coming off a lackluster 14-0 loss to Green Tech last week
avoided the shutout as Andrew Hogan scored on a 29-yard run in the fourth quarter
Jason Rodriguez rushed for 239 yards and a touchdown and Kolby Anderson added two scores as Queensbury topped Niskayuna 33-21 Saturday
there were signs of life in this game that we felt good about and we can build on,” said Brett Watkins
but I thought our kids did a really good job of responding — they were gaining yards
“I know that Hudson Falls has had some injury issues
they have a first-year coach in a tough situation,” Lilac said
“But it’s a rivalry game and we knew that they would come out and play hard — and they did play hard — but I was just pleased with how we executed on both sides of the ball.”
