the flow of NFL news slows down just enough on a Saturday morning to allow us to catch up on some of the things we may have missed
From Shedeur Sanders to Jeff Ulbrich to the aftermath of the draft to unresolved issues between teams and current players to everything else that has been going on
interesting tidbits have taken a nosedive into the cracks
as it relates to a story that has been simmering for a while before blowing up in the aftermath of Bill Belichick’s recent book-tour interview with CBS
As more and more non-sports media outlets have focused on the question of whether and to what extent Belichick has allowed a personal relationship to commandeer his professional exploits
here’s something that was reported by Page Six of the New York Post
Remember the Dunkin’ commercial that debuted during the Super Bowl
standing next to him while behind Ben and Casey Affleck
Jordon Hudson “forced her way in
but Bill saw it as a way for her to get paid,” the Post reports
“People said they’ve never seen anything like it.”
It meshes with an earlier report from Pablo Torre of Meadowlark Media
who said Hudson used her influence as his “de facto agent” to leverage an appearance in the commercial
The story from the Post meshes with other chatter than had been churning on the grapevine for weeks
Hudson reportedly “demanded” to be listed as an executive producer for the now-scrapped Hard Knocks series featuring North Carolina football
she wanted to review the “dailies” of the show as it was being recorded
She reportedly told the NFL Films executives to “treat her with respect
or they wouldn’t get to use [Belichick’s] IP.”
It all contributed directly to NFL Films’ pivot from the deal being essentially done on a Friday to being over and done by the following Monday
The decision to abandon the project prevented North Carolina football
from enjoying the exposure that would come from being featured in the HBO series
Which is a prime example of why this story has staying power
By not just blurring but obliterating the lines between a personal relationship and a professional relationship
Belichick’s uncharacteristic actions (in comparison to a half-century of coaching in the NFL) are impacting the entire North Carolina program
that publicity seems to be helping (at most) one and only one person

The spell cast on the new homeowner of a creaky 1790s farmhouse in Millbrook
was conjured by the steady passage of time
She was enchanted by the centuries-old wood plank floors
had once been the altar for a wedding between a renowned environmentalist—who grew up in the house—and his bride
The attic ladder had long ago surrendered its rungs to stacks of pored-over books in a delightful display of literary dishevelment curated by the environmentalist’s mother
an antiques dealer and the late matriarch of a family rooted in the house for more than 70 years
to streamline—and safeguard—the heritage estate
we had to remind the contractor that preserving the farmhouse’s character was important,” says Larson of the old moldings
and well-trodden wood planks that were spared in the two-year renovation
he couldn’t figure out where the entrance was—a stone path didn’t lead to the formal front entry
framed in Greek Revival trim typical of old Hudson Valley farmhouses
The original living room fireplace from 1815 served as the altar when a renowned environmentalist—who grew up in the house—was married here
Though it’s not the oldest hearth in the home (the dining room fireplace was built in the 1790s)
it remains a meaningful symbol of continuity
anchoring family gatherings past and present
Restoring a clear sense of arrival—long muddled by too many doors and confusing paths—was a priority
along with untangling awkward architectural flow resulting from a vortex of bathrooms and relocating the kitchen
to frame sweeping views of the meadows and Catskills beyond
Other additions—like a sunroom and rear porch—also capture this bucolic idyll
And the library’s fathomless blue-black is an inky neutral with gravitas befitting the literary pursuits of the resident author and the writers she hosts for farmhouse retreats
A hallway in blueprints but a library in spirit
its book-lined walls home to leather-bound volumes left by the former owner
A custom desk at the threshold of the living room also serves the library
“I like finding clever ways to make things work,” says the designer
a custom console in the dining room can expand to accommodate larger gatherings
and the Frem Røjle Roundette table placed in a tight corner of the living room seems to seamlessly—and space-savingly—absorb its matching chairs
Such gradual reveals also speak to Chused’s skillful layering of textures
and patterns across different cultures and eras
A custom living room sofa is upholstered in durable yellow corduroy
apropos of life on a farm; sunroom pillows in an indigenous Filipino textile nod to the homeowner’s heritage; and in a secret powder room
hidden behind a swiveling bookshelf straight out of an Agatha Christie plot twist
mustard-striped Temple Studio wallpaper is the backdrop for the former homeowner’s Federalist-style mirror
patriotically topped with an eagle figurine
By incorporating select pieces left behind by the previous family
Chused’s design feels collected but not cobwebby
Another beloved holdover—a star-shaped light—was
according to the late matriarch’s granddaughter
casting just enough glow for tiptoeing through the hallway in the wee hours
Architect Doug Larson reestablished the formal front entrance
restoring symmetry and flow to the Greek Revival–trimmed façade
Originally built in the 1790s and expanded over centuries
the house now balances historic character with clarity
a newly built red barn adds flexible living space
The other side of the primary bath features a custom black steel vanity that offers a bit of edge to offset the room’s farmhouse charm. Stacked Scallop mirrors by Richard Haining
This powder room—hidden behind a swiveling bookshelf—is wrapped in mustard-striped wallpaper from Temple Studio. The vintage mirror was left by the previous homeowners. Sink by Drummonds with a brass backsplash; sconces by Devon & Devon
traditional but not too traditional,” Chused says
the walls complement the exposed rafters and blue-stained pine floor

Farewell Hudson's Bay - America's oldest company files for bankruptcy after 355 years in business
Hudson’s Bay is about to disappear. We’re sorry to start the article in such a blunt way
but that’s the reality: the oldest company in North America (founded in 1670) is about to close its doors forever
And this isn’t just a business story
it’s the closing of a chapter in the history of our continent
but time and technology have wiped out everything you once knew
they’ve noticed the market was changing
they’re on the verge of declaring bankruptcy
and even though they only own six stores (with all that they once were…)
a judge has given them a deadline until early May if they don’t want to be forced to liquidate the company completely
It all started back in 1650 with two French explorers
Pierre-Esprit Radisson and Médard de Chouart
who in the 17th century arrived loaded with valuable furs from Hudson Bay
And there the Hudson’s Bay Company was born
They didn’t just trade in furs: they administered territories that today are part of Canada through so-called company-states
whose main goal was to conquer land in order to set up trade
HBC operated as an almost colonial monopoly
a court ruling opened the door to competition
the British government paid them 300,000 pounds to recover those lands
and the company was forced to reinvent itself
It left the fur business behind and focused on retail
Hudson’s Bay managed to stay strong after that transformation
HBC became a symbol of modern consumerism and the new Canadian middle class
and with it everything we know: online shopping
and other platforms that bring everything to your door with just one click
closed their stores in Europe and the United States
the situation became so unsustainable that only six stores survived
and the loss of its territorial empire… is about to fall due to something as cold as the lack of attention from the digital consumer
The internet didn’t just change how we shop: it also changed who survives in this market
HBC hasn’t been the only one to suffer the change in consumer habits. Many brands that defined an era ended up falling for not adapting in time. The story of Hudson’s Bay reminds us that no legacy, no matter how long, guarantees the future. Constant innovation is the only thing that keeps you going
Hudson’s Bay will go down in history as yet another business legend
One that began with explorers and unfinished maps… and ended defeated by a browser window…
Lower Hudson Valley residents are in for more rain May 5, with possible isolated thunderstorms throughout the week, the National Weather Service says
bringing at least 1 to 2 inches of rain to the area
High temperatures are expected near 61 degrees and wind gusts could reach up to 25 miles per hour throughout the day
lohud in our schools: New Rochelle elementary school students explore science in outdoor class
Temperatures are expected to dip near 56 degrees
Wind gusts between 10 and 25 miles per hour

The National Weather Service says evening commuters could also see patchy fog conditions after 8 p.m
According to a risk map issued by the NWS Monday
areas of the Lower Hudson Valley could face an elevated risk of excessive rainfall into Tuesday morning
such rainfall could lead to scattered flash floods
"Most vulnerable are urban areas, roads, small streams, and washes," the NWS said Monday morning
Patchy fog is expected to linger Tuesday morning and could persist throughout the day
High temperatures Tuesday could reach near 64 degrees
more showers and a chance of thunderstorms is likely before 2 a.m

one particular store comes to embody the place in which it is set
Hudson Home looks like a curated collection of beautiful home furnishings and décor
But scratch beneath the tastefully gilded surface
Hudson Home represents the culmination of a lifetime devoted to interior design
and a dedication to supporting the regional design community
Hudson Home was founded by Richard Bodin and Greg Feller in 2005
Feller was (and still is) an interior designer with an affinity for architectural history; Bodin had spent most of his career managing complex marketing initiatives for financial services firms
The pair’s blend of talents and skills proved to be just the cocktail that Hudson—and its growing community of artists
and discerning home buyers who have flocked to the region in the 20 years since the now-iconic store first opened—were thirsty for
Not only is Hudson Home a store at which you can shop a carefully curated collection of home goods—it’s also an interior design trade showroom
meaning other designers who’ve made their home north of NYC can stop by to browse and order from a wide selection of furniture
And stop by they do: Hudson Home regularly welcomes designers from throughout the Northeast who don’t want to travel all the way to Manhattan to find high-quality products
“We’ve been able to bring in design resources that previously couldn’t be found in the area,” Feller says
“We’re pleased to make those same resources available to other designers so they can enjoy what the area has to offer and still have access to a broad range of top design brands close to home
We feel uniquely qualified to serve other designers because we are designers
and we work hard to make doing business easier for them.”
the “Hudson” half of the name is equally as important as the “Home” half
There are still no chain or mass retailers on Warren Street
There is just such a creative force here with a substantial appreciation for history and uniqueness.”
Feller and Bodin are stretching their wings creatively as well as geographically
working with clients and designers in Albany
They’re also using their silver anniversary as an excuse to refresh their brand identity and website
If you haven’t been in a while—or ever—it may be time for a visit
we’ve been doing more full-scale renovations and more multi-generational projects,” says Feller
the creative force behind the brand’s interior design branch
We love our clients and feel very much a part of their families.”

It was 45 years ago I attended a charity reception at a West City Park B&B
which has passed through several owners since
At the time there was a circa 1900 map of Colorado’s Front Range mounted on the staircase wall
“Denver Water Board Dam Site” on the South Platte
I marveled Denver’s ruling leaders had been looking so far ahead to meet future demand
It would be another decade before the Two Forks damsite rose to public attention
Sometime during the first part of the 20th century
the water board began to lease fishing camp homesites to Denver’s blueblood families
most of the town of Deckers is located on land originally acquired for this reservoir
Visiting the Castle Marne B & B several years ago
the map had vanished or been moved elsewhere
The boom or bust character of Denver’s urban growth had finally caught up with supply
which had been augmented by Lake Dillon in Summit County and its trans-mountain diversion from the Blue River
It was time to consider a major expansion of storage at the south end of the metroplex
The politics of Colorado water had long been controlled by the rule it could be forced to flow uphill toward money
an increasingly potent environmental lobby emerged to resist runaway suburban sprawl
joining Mountain Bell to cope with the 40,000 homes that couldn’t order telephones as housing

Neither lengthy waits for dial tone nor the threat of water rationing deterred this onslaught of young families
an "environmental roundtable" led the charge to prevent the Two Forks dam and reservoir
They were quietly aided by those Denver Bluebloods
many members of the Wigwam Club near Deckers
The secluded cabins along one of the few gold medal trout fisheries in North America had been in their families so long they had forgotten the properties were leased
they were rooting for adverse possession over decades
In an irony that will become apparent shortly
the environmental roundtable advocated for the expansion of the Gross Reservoir in Boulder County as a preferred alternative
Bush Environmental Protection Agency killed the Two Forks proposal
it wasn’t entirely clear whether its veto was exercised on the basis of scientific findings or rumored lobbying pressure from the wealth property owners/lessees who had so generously donated to the president’s 1988 campaign
Then Colorado Senator Tim Wirth brokered an agreement to construct the far smaller Strontia Springs dam and reservoir on the South Platte just upstream from the Chatfield flood control reservoir as a holding basin for a pre-treatment Denver water supply
The Hayman and Buffalo Creek fires in the early 2000s funneled charred debris into this containment
requiring an initial dredging and another soon to come
The Denver Water Board began to consider raising the Gross Reservoir Dam as a north side holding facility with its application to the Army Corps of Engineers submitted in 2002
The need for additional storage became acute following alternating floods and extended droughts in the basin
The permitting process and subsequent lawsuits launched by many of the same environmental groups that supported just such a project 20 years earlier dragged on until 2022
Since the Gross Reservoir also produces hydroelectric power
which will be substantially expanded as part of the proposed dam expansion
the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) finally ordered the water board to commence construction in 2022
All state and federal permits had been approved
This did not prevent a lingering legal squabble advanced by a handful of litigation predators who claim the Corps of Engineers failed to consider every conceivable option
They never requested an injunction to stop construction as the water board spent $314 million dollars to complete nearly 70% of the project
Federal Court Judge Christine Arguello found in their favor and halted work late last year
A hearing is scheduled later this week (May 6) to determine how or whether to proceed
The water board believes they should be allowed to complete the construction as a matter of public safety
The plaintiffs extracted a $100 million settlement from the Northern Integrated Supply Project (NISP) which will retain water from the Poudre for Fort Collins
Greeley and other northern Colorado municipalities
There’s little doubt they covet another bonanza extracted from Denver Water
lending a whole new meaning to "greenmailing." As the Gazette newspapers editorialized
this is a group that is good at what they do — throwing sand into the gears of government
and any additional mitigation expenditures required by the court will not be paid by some anonymous water board
They will be paid by you and I and our fellow ratepayers
There has to be some obligation to restore rationality to our permitting processes
Several recent books tackle the issue of “Why Nothing Works” by Marc Dunkleman and notably
“Abundance” by Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson
There are only so many regulatory hurdles projects should have to clear
and once cleared the courts should ratify those decisions
What possible expertise could Judge Arguello have to determine whether the new Gross Dam can safely be left partially finished

Now that spring has sprung within the Hudson Valley
we’ve been noticing the return of our furry friends and certain insects
I’ve already enjoyed hearing the birds and their songs
I saw a few butterflies and bees as well.
I not only saw but felt the return of an invasive pest that we didn't’ want around last season
we were trying out best to either stay away from this insect or plan ways to get it out of our yards.
it was actually “raining poop” in the Hudson Valley and we didn’t know what to do as a community
As these insects have already quietly made their return to the Hudson Valley area
I was sitting at a table outdoors at a local business when I saw small
I then noticed that there was one on my plate
I didn’t want to hurt the bugs but I did flick them away. I knew exactly who they were
Spongy moth caterpillars are also known as gypsy moths
101.5 WPDH shared that information describing these invasive pests
"Formerly known by the insensitive name "gypsy moth"
the invasive species was brought to America from France over 100 years ago in an attempt to breed them with silkworms to create stronger fabric."
Fast forward to the next day after seeing the spongy moth caterpillars
I noticed that I had a few marks on my skin that looked like “bites”
I thought to myself that I was somewhat nice to these invasive pests and they still marked themselves on me
It’s possible that these pests don’t actually bite but their hairs can cause irritations to people if touched
It’s been about a week now and I still have their “love bites”
markings on my skin but they appear to be going away
I also saw posts from Hudson Valley residents sharing pictures of them in Facebook groups and where they are located
I used to think that stink bugs were annoying but as for this summer
I’ll take them over these spongy moth caterpillars
Besides telling the spongy moth caterpillars to go away and how they’re not welcomed here
Hudson Valley residents wrapped their trees with burlap bands and others used sprays that would help reduce these pests while also protecting the area. I wanted to share my experience with you especially if you’re dining out in the Hudson Valley and notice these tiny caterpillars at your table.
I’m looking forward to outdoor dining at some of our favorite places
The warm weather also brings us the return of outdoor concerts
reopening of hiking trails and locally owned ice cream stands
Ladybugs and butterflies are more than welcome to come around and hang out
Let’s all enjoy the start of spring and celebrate that brighter days have finally arrived in the Hudson Valley

2025 3:53 PM EDTBill Belichick just wants to talk football
but the rest of the world is talking about his 49-year
a source close to his adult children is weighing in
The University of North Carolina football coach is father to daughter Amanda, 41, and sons Stephen, 38, and Brian, 37, whom he shares with ex-wife, Debby Clarke Belichick. Fans have heard from Stephen's wife Jennifer Schmitt, who criticized Hudson for not acting professional during Belichick's CBS Sunday Morning interview
"Publicists act in a professional manner and don’t 'storm' off set delaying an interview," Schmitt wrote in response to comedian Nikki Glaser's comment on the Instagram post for Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman's Dudes on Dudes podcast

Now, an insider is telling People what the NCAA coach's kids think
"His children want the best for their dad but like most family members
they hope this is a good choice for him," the source claimed
They also confirmed that the romance is "real" and not some PR ploy as Hudson is somewhat of an old soul
"She is the kind of person who has a plan and is diligent about sticking to it," the insider praised the former cheerleader for having Belichick's best interests at heart
"She is young but mature beyond her years.”
A Page Six source has greater concerns about Belichick's "brand" in the wake of backlash
“It’s amateur hour and it’s showing,” the insider alleged
“They don’t know what they are doing and trying to control everything
He’s handed off the ball to her.”
There may be some help on the horizon though as Belichick is reportedly looking for outside PR help to tamp down the negative headlines, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. The Tar Heels coach would like to return the focus to promoting his book

ECTROPY: Fighting the natural disorder of things
You might think—as the earth rots with the weight of humans on this precarious ball teasing a self-induced armageddon
an American dismantling of democracy—that life’s natural tendency is toward entropy
But when I look at the patterns of nature, the spirals of Fibonacci number sequences that form as if by elegant magic in every pinecone and round of petals and from the micro of snail shells to the macro swirl of galaxies
if possibly more conceptual and comfortable
the older I get the more inclined I am to love organization and prefer each item paired with its own designated container
Rather than organically winging it which seems to me like a recipe for disaster
nothing pleases me more than a well-arranged spreadsheet and a checklist getting reduced
Is there a balance or a preference between assembly and destruction
Is there any room for fitted bedsheets in the secret code of all things
I remember so distinctly the time in my childhood when they was still the question if the universe was open or closed
expanding or collapsing—and yes these were the topics of our dinner conversations
fueled by shows like Nova and my dad’s subscription to Scientific American magazine
What thrilling possibilities in exploring this barrier to the unknown
how will they ever determine its edges or lack of edges and what will it mean for our notions of infinity or importance
How small in the scheme of things were my brother and I
we were rendered ever tinier: the universe is indeed expanding
and not only that but the expansion is accelerating
In the same way it feels as if our technological leaps are surpassing us at an ever-quickening pace
and will other elements we can’t fathom (dark matter/energy) and the powerful suck of gravity
pull the messy universe back into some discernible shape someday
I was curious if for every entropy in nature there is an equal opposite ectropy
could that be the counterpoint of the ebb and flow of this circle of cycles
For a term that can barely be found in science
there is at least some “art” on the matter of ectropy
Director Jordan Schulz’s short film (20 min), Ectropy: Chaos to Order
a member of the Timeless Presence species who struggles to see his potential
the Artist faces existential challenges and immense pressures as they paint the fabric of nature
and shown here in the trailer
This Ectropy film starring the “Artist” is no standalone but just the first of a trilogy that proceeds to creation and ends in entropy, from PRWeb.com which calls it a “cinematic masterpiece” but admittedly is just quoting the movie’s own press release:
“Ectropy” is an exploration of the universe’s explosive genesis
drawing inspiration from The Big Bang Theory
The narrative unfolds as the enigmatic “Artist,” tasked with shaping the cosmos
encounters Mother Nature in the mystical days of the universe’s infancy
they embark on a profound journey of self-discovery and creativity
highlighting the interplay between creation and Creator
[Artist Daniel] Winn’s philosophy of “Existential Surrealism” profoundly shapes the thematic essence of the film
the approach examines life’s fundamental questions and the nature of existence itself
the award-winning short film entitled “Creation,” which serves as the second installment
The trilogy is slated to conclude with “Entropy from Order to Chaos,” expected to go into production in 2025
which will depict the inevitable decline back into chaos and complete the cycle of cosmic existence
Despite what feels here like purple prose in a woo woo English essay
Among praise for “cosmic symphony,” “cinematic brilliance,” and “maestro of visual storytelling…that surpasses conventional storytelling methods,” the writers describe a unique multi-sensory weave of images
of the work of Darren Aronofsky in The Fountain and its tree of creamy regenerative life
From 37Magazine
Winn’s philosophy uses visual language to explore the concept of duality
emphasizing that the absence of opposing factors would render our existence meaningless
painting and film that delves into the profound questions about the meaning of life and the intricacies of human existence
His art is known for its deep philosophical underpinnings that weaves in deep concepts of existentialism
All of this artistry seems to exhibit the artist attempting control of controllable
No matter the premise of the movie ultimately moving toward chaos
the artifice of the enterprise of conveying that theme prevails
documenting the chaos in an attempt to fathom it and
making pretty treatises about it in images
Ectropy is a fairly new concept and there’s very little of it to be found, at least on the Internet. According to a tiny bit of research posted at the Georgia Institute of Technology:
The word “ectropy” means a general increase in organization
It appears to have been developed by Willard V
Quine in response to the Twenty-first Anniversary Symposium of the Council for Unified Research and Education in 1969
The above quotation appears on page 83 of the following source:
That book is an expansion of the aforementioned 1969 symposium
The term “ectropy” is used in several places in the book and is contrasted not only with “entropy” but also with the coined term
“atropy,” which is used to describe circumstances in which the degree of organization remains constant
Entropy seems to be the basket that science puts its eggs or in, or more specifically physics. Rather than a mix of ectropy (order), atropy (stasis), and entropy (disorder), they calibrate the spectrum between organization and disorder as just more or less entropy. From FS Blog:
This tendency towards disorder is a fundamental law of physics
Here’s the kicker: Disorder is not a mistake; it is the default
Your house doesn’t clean itself—it takes energy and effort to maintain order
In The Great Mental Models
The constant battle against entropy is the driving force behind much of what we do
The constant struggle between order and disorder is the source of change and progress.”
Entropy was conceived much sooner than its counterpart ectropy by Rudolf Clausius
Clausius studied the conversion of heat into work
He recognized that heat from a body at a high temperature would flow to one at a lower temperature
This is how your coffee cools down the longer it’s left out—the heat from the coffee flows into the room
But if you want to heat cold water to make the coffee
you need to do work—you need a power source to heat the water
From this idea comes Clausius’s statement of the second law of thermodynamics: “Heat does not pass from a body at low temperature to one at high temperature without an accompanying change elsewhere.”
Clausius summarized the concept of entropy in simple terms: “The energy of the universe is constant
The entropy of the universe tends to a maximum.”
not according to the positive march of our increasing wisdom and experience
but by the dismal accrual of our unraveling:
The increase of disorder or entropy is what distinguishes the past from the future
That according to our contemporary geniuses like Hawking
the tendency naturally is only ever toward increasing disorder
to find the meaning of life amidst this mess and meaninglessness
to impose order where maybe there isn’t any
to use this energy to impose some semblance of good
To invent concepts like “good” and “beauty”
Disorder is not a mistake; it is our default
Imagine a world with no entropy—everything stays the way we leave it
that would also be a world without innovation
When people talk about eternal life in heaven
In The Information: A History, a Theory, a Flood
and put our rooms in order… We propagate structure (not just we humans but we who are alive)
We disturb the tendency toward equilibrium
It would be absurd to attempt a thermodynamic accounting for such processes
but it is not absurd to say we are reducing entropy
Bit by bit … Not only do living things lessen the disorder in their environments; they are in themselves
circulatory systems and metabolic pathways—miracles of pattern and structure
It sometimes seems as if curbing entropy is our quixotic purpose in the universe
Where do you fall on the spectrum between organized and disorganized
along with religion’s “heaven” and a romantic comedy’s absurd ability for every bow to be tied
ectropy itself might fall in the basket of endearing human inventions designed to simply soothe us on this dizzying ride to oblivion

Belichick is reportedly looking for a real PR person to take over
Pro Football Talk
reported on Sunday that Belichick is shopping around for an experienced publicist who can turn this press tour around
The UNC coach has reportedly been talking to former Bears vice-president of communications Brandon Faber for a “couple of months,” but nothing is official yet
On Monday, an anonymous source told “Page Six” that Belichick “seems to have put his brand in the hands of a 24-year-old” and that Hudson “thinks she knows everything
like every other 24-year-old.” “It’s amateur hour and it’s showing,” the source said
“They don’t know what they are doing and [are] trying to control everything
All of this might make it seem like Belichick’s book — which is officially being released on Tuesday — is going to flop. However, it seems that having a (reportedly) pushy young girlfriend isn’t that bad for business. The Art of Winning is currently No. 1 in Amazon’s “Sports Biographies” category, and No. 6 in the more general “Sports” category, behind five different works of sports smut (four hockey

The coach has gone from the football field to the gossip pages with his May to December relationship
It’s an extraordinary turnaround in his career
Football has never known a control freak like Bill Belichick
the Nixonian figure who ran the New England Patriots as if their facility was a CIA black site
But four months into Belichick’s new coaching tenure
there is a stunning lack of clarity about who’s actually in charge
That’s not to say that Belichick didn’t have anything to recommend him for UNC
win a record six Super Bowls as Patriots head coach
But so far the most discussed figure in the program isn’t a player
Hudson isn’t some trailblazing football careerist
she’s slated to compete in the Miss Maine USA pageant later this month alongside the competition’s first transgender entrant – a political football this story is nowhere near ready for.) As the coach tells it
the romance started on a 2021 flight from Boston to Miami with Belichick (then 69 years old) striking up a conversation with Hudson (20 at the time) as she was reading a book called Deductive Logic for an undergraduate philosophy class
“Thanks for giving me a course on logic!” Belichick gushed in an autograph inside the book
“Safe travels!” (Who knew the coach was a fan of exclamation points!)
But even as Hudson emerged as a prominent figure in Belichick’s professional life
it didn’t seem as if she would interfere with Belichick’s mission to make UNC a football power

Typically when May-December relationships become gossip fodder
the scrutiny falls hardest on the older party
Even though Tom Brady and other former Pats have been publicly supportive of the coach’s new girlfriend
there’s still reason to believe Belichick is the passenger in this relationship
viewers were shocked to see Belichick appear on camera in a tattered Navy sweatshirt – which was taken less by internet critics as an extension of the coach’s well-known dishevelled dress sense than evidence of spousal neglect
(Also: was the Tar Heels team shop closed?)
demanding to be copied on email correspondence to steer strategy even though she is not employed by the university
Hudson is said to have advised UNC’s social media team to promote the accomplishments of defensive coordinator Stephen Belichick instead of stating what many believe – that he got to where he is because he’s Bill’s son
Hudson is even mentioned in the acknowledgements for Belichick’s book
while Kraft – the owner he won six titles with – was left out
Stephen’s wife called Hudson’s conduct in the CBS interview “unprofessional”.) Belichick even lets Hudson on the field for football practices
which he has historically kept off-limits to outsiders
What’s more, you can’t help wondering if he is indeed making this scene as a pretext to get out of his Tar Heels deal and leave them hanging just as he did the New York Jets
(In an effort to prevent history repeating
the Tar Heels included a $10m buyout clause in his contract.) Only this much is clear: Belichick has already proven to be a far bigger headache than Mack Brown – the 72-year-old former national championship winner who was thought to be too old and dull to remain in the job
They say it’s never too late to start over in life
But Belichick’s college try has already become exactly the all-consuming
off-field distraction that he once so famously disdained
Maybe the threat of Hudson taking over is why NFL teams ultimately passed Belichick over
At the very least it’s the kind of concern the old Bill would’ve red-flagged if it had come up with a player on his radar
When Belichick was in his New England heyday
you would’ve been hard pressed to find much information about the day-to-day status of his team
we didn’t really meet Belichick’s kids until they started working for him.) All of which is to say: he’s the last coach you’d expect to suddenly lose control over the narrative
Belichick’s inability to separate the personal from the professional when it comes to his relationship with Hudson doesn’t just bode ill for the North Carolina program
It’s a sign that Belichick may in fact be losing his grip

Hudson has amassed an $8 million real-estate portfolio since she began dating the 73-year-old football coach
And people say that the age of the girlboss is over
Though the Daily Mail was first to the story, it was fleshed out by some enterprising reporters at realtor.com, who were more than ready to jump on the biggest celebrity real-estate news since Bennifer selling their mansion
Hudson purchased three multifamily homes in the Boston area in December 2023
she reportedly bought two Dorchester townhouses on December 1
one for $2.2 million and another $2.3 million
The first home has a four-bedroom apartment currently available to rent for $5,000
says that it has a “condo quality white shaker cabinet kitchen with white quartz counters
stainless appliances with a large island.” There are also “hardwood floors throughout except in the fully tiled bathrooms.” Realtor.com also speculated that Hudson had spent some time renovating the apartment
pointing to a line in the listing that references the “beautiful” updates that have been made to the unit
Hudson purchased a $3 million multifamily home in Boston’s rapidly gentrifying Roxbury Crossing neighborhood
with 15 bedrooms and 8.5 bathrooms spread across three apartments
a description noted that the building was “generating a rental income of $17,675 a month.”
On the paperwork for these three properties
Hudson reportedly listed her address as a two-bedroom cottage in Harwich
a home she bought for $610,000 in October 2023
the mortgages for all four of her properties were paid off within a week of each other in January of this year

10:30 am UTC • 6 minFresh off her viral CBS Sunday Morning cameo
On Tuesday, the 24-year-old girlfriend (and evident media consigliere) of North Carolina head football coach Bill Belichick posted a screenshot of an email her beau sent earlier this month to several people in his inner circle
Hudson made a promise that a “full statement” would be released later in the day
The email seemed at least loosely related to the CBS interview debacle—because it was about Belichick’s gripes with the tone of the media coverage of his forthcoming book
The Art of Winning: Lessons From My Life in Football
That book had been the subject of his interview … until Hudson’s interjection during a question about the beginning of their relationship drew the focus elsewhere
It might be time to wonder whether Hudson is the adept PR mind she’s positioning herself as
none of this book promo tour makes any sense
Perhaps the statement Hudson has promised to release
or the video she seemingly teased in the second slide of her Instagram post with what looked like a still from a surreptitiously recorded conversation
but the only reason I can think of for why Hudson would share Belichick’s email now is that it will help explain why they were so upset during that incredibly awkward interview
Belichick’s main concern seems to be making sure that his book is framed by the media covering its release as a respectable how-to guide for those looking to succeed in any leadership field
He seems to kind of think it’s a business book
He name-checks billionaire hedge funder Ray Dalio and author Suzy Welch and cites the growth of the Patriots’ franchise value during his time as head coach as a career accomplishment before bringing up his six Super Bowl titles
A Dozen Questions About Bill Belichick’s Relationship With Jordon Hudson
The email recipients are Hudson; “David”; “Jofie,” who could possibly be Simon & Schuster vice president Jofie Ferrari-Adler; “Michael”; the literary agent Richard Pine; and Berj Najarian
Belichick’s longtime right-hand man during his Patriots tenure who is currently the chief of staff for Boston College football
Najarian’s inclusion on the thread caught my eye
given that his old role under Belichick was essentially the one Hudson
and the person you have to go through to get access to Bill
it looks like some of these people are in his inner circle
but all of them are involved in the promotion of the book
So is Hudson’s point in posting the email that she’s trying to dictate what sort of coverage Belichick and the book get in the future
and that the reason for her outburst at CBS was that interviewer Tony Dokoupil had strayed from questions about football and leadership
ArchiveWe’ve been around since Brady was a QB
So many questions and so many attempted answers
Let’s survey the relationship that has dominated the headlines this week
Hudson was born in Hancock, Maine, a speck on the map of 2,500 people best known as the home of Wild Ray’s “Chainsaw Sawyer Artist Live Show.” She has said on social media that she hails from several generations of fishermen
“As the daughter of displaced fishermen, I care to use my voice to protect the fleeting tradition and heritage of Maine fishing families, to prevent others from going through the same plight as what mine had to go through,” Hudson wrote on Instagram, where she has nearly 100,000 followers.
Sports
Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots have parted ways after a 24-year tenure during which he led the franchise to six Super Bowl wins in nine appearances
After graduating, Hudson was employed for a year as social media ambassador for the clothing company Rebel Athletic
She said she met Belichick in 2021 and they began dating two years later
The interview proceeds with a shot showing Hudson seated at a desk in front of a monitor a few feet from Belichick and Dokoupil.
“You have Jordon right over there, everybody in the world seems to be following this relationship,” Dokoupil said, with the camera locked on Hudson seated off the set. “How did you guys meet?”
Hollywood Inc.
30 interview with the “CBS Mornings” co-host led to a rare rebuke during an editorial meeting
“We’re not talking about this,” Hudson loudly blurts out before Belichick can respond
It was one of several instances where Hudson interrupted the interview
The incident was unexpected — shocking, even — because for at least two decades, Belichick was the master of stonewalling reporters
steering interviews and giving snarky responses to questions he didn’t appreciate
Does he suddenly require someone to come to his rescue or did that particular question touch a nerve with Hudson
Dokoupil: “I have to ask about Robert Kraft … 24 years together, six Super Bowls. Unless I’m wrong, he’s not in this book. How come?”
Belichick: “He’s not. Well, again, it’s about my life lessons in football, and it’s really more about the ones I experienced directly.”
Dokoupil: “He’s not even in the acknowledgment section.”
Patriots owner Robert Kraft and coach Bill Belichick express their gratitude
Dokoupil: “Do you feel like you were treated with dignity and respect when you were let go by Robert Kraft?”
it was a mutual decision for us to part ways.”
“I don’t think this is fantastic, but it probably will hype the book, which is clearly the ongoing theme here,” Belichick’s email starts. “This is about what I expected from the media.
“We went through how important it was for me to put ‘I f— up’ in the book, and of course, that is the feature of this article — which is mostly about admitting mistakes and talking about a Super Bowl mistake. I am fine with putting mistakes in the book, but I am certainly not surprised that of 260+ pages, that is what they would highlight.
“I have, at times reluctantly, gone along with the title, cover, and language in the book. I am not going to be the conductor of a hype train in the book promotion — we have enough hype to work with. I hope we can get on the same page in promoting the book authentically.”
NFL: Bill Belichick loosens up on girlfriend’s Twitter account
Belichick later Wednesday released a statement through North Carolina
saying the CBS interview was “selectively edited” and suggested a “false narrative.” He also said that he “clearly communicated” with his publicist at Simon & Schuster that promotional interviews would focus only on the book’s contents
that expectation was not honored during the interview,” Belichick said in the statement
CBS later released a statement saying that the agreement was for a “wide-ranging interview.”
“There were no preconditions or limitations to this conversation,” the statement read
“This was confirmed repeatedly with his publisher before the interview took place and after it was completed.”
Hudson and Belichick were seated next to one another on a flight from Massachusetts to Florida in February 2021. Their meeting was documented through photographs of them and of his autograph on the then-21-year-old’s “Deductive Logic” college textbook
Tom Brady was a good sport during his Netflix celebrity roast
but did not appreciate Jeff Ross’ joke that referenced Robert Kraft and a massage
you used to talk about Foxborough High School when we sucked
But now I know why you were so obsessed with Foxborough High School: You were scouting your new girlfriend.”
Added Brady: “When somebody asked me which [championship] ring was my favorite
my favorite is that Ring camera that caught Coach Belichick slinking out of that poor girl’s house at 6 a.m
The Athletic obtained emails through an open records request that document Belichick requesting that Hudson be copied on certain correspondence at North Carolina
The 44 pages of emails address his concerns about social media attacks and the optics of hiring his son
Hudson is not an employee of the university
“It is really worth emphasizing the point that Steve has the experience of being a COLLEGE defensive coordinator and will bring a plethora of knowledge to the coaching staff,” Hudson wrote of the former defensive coordinator at the University of Washington
Hudson’s involvement included a request that staff scrub negative comments about Belichick on the football page of the university website
“Is there anyone monitoring the UNC Football page for slanderous commentary and subsequently deleting it / blocking users that are harassing BB in the comments?” Hudson asked Feb

the comedian roasts herself in time for her new special “Someday You’ll Die” on HBO May 9
responded by shading her father-in-law’s girlfriend: “Publicists act in a professional manner and don’t ‘storm’ off set delaying an interview,” wrote Schmitt
The Athletic also reported that Hudson “played an instrumental role” in stopping the production of a “Hard Knocks” docuseries on the North Carolina program this fall only a few days after an agreement had been reached
In a December 2024 email to North Carolina officials
Hudson identified herself as the chief operating officer of Belichick Productions
although the Athletic could not find evidence of the company’s existence
NFL Films was scheduled to begin filming March 1
the NFL sent an email to North Carolina’s counsel confirming that showmakers “will not proceed with the production of the Belichick project.”
Hudson seemed to brace herself in December for something like this current kerfuffle
writing on her Instagram Stories: “Nothing changed for us in 2024 except for ‘public knowledge’: yet
I can’t wait to take punches for you in 2025
Your illusion of righteousness only fuels my authenticity.”
A different view was articulated by Athletic columnist Steve Buckley, who wrote Wednesday:
“If the plan here was to portray Belichick as cool, what with his social media-savvy girlfriend fending off the old-school, on-set question asker, then the plan failed. Belichick instead came across as somebody who needed saving. And it’s hard watching this interview while defending Belichick as the ever-vigilant micromanager who misses nothing.
“Will this interview inspire the biggest and best recruits to take their talents to Chapel Hill? Doubt it. Will it help get Belichick back on the radar for a head coaching job in the NFL? That’s looking less likely.
“There used to be a Bill Belichick ‘brand.’ Grumpy. Rumpled. Genius. Now there’s a Bill Belichick-Jordon Hudson brand. We’re on to ‘awkward.’”

Bill Belichick broke his silence after girlfriend Jordon Hudson—who is 49 years younger than him—interrupted his CBS interview and shut down a question about their relationship
ICYMI: Hudson—who is almost 50 years younger than the former New England Patriots coach—shut down journalist Tony Dokoupil's question about the couple's relationship, interjecting from the sidelines when he asked Belichick

Belichick also denied speculation that the former college cheerleader was "attempting to control the conversation," saying that the claim is "simply not true."
"The final eight-minute segment does not reflect the productive 35-minute conversation we had," he added of his interview with Dokoupil

"I find it really amazing when you flip it and the guy is older
no one cares and actually people like it."
Sam Taylor-Johnson & Aaron Taylor-Johnson
And it comes up on the outside perspective of people who don’t know us
because I guess people will always...We’re a bit of an anomaly
but it’s that thing: After 14 years you just think
surely by now it doesn’t really matter?”Sam even pointed out her relationship with Aaron has lasted longer than her marriage to her ex-husband Jay Jopling
who is about four years older than she is."So
if you think of it in that way," she continued
"then the age gap doesn’t really make any difference.”
Michael Douglas & Catherine Zeta-Jones
it wouldn’t be normal if there weren’t any ups and downs
"We've never related to someone in my life better than we do
And we just couldn't be happier."
'This older man wants some young bimbo with no opinions whatsoever
And then that younger woman is obviously a gold digger
and she obviously doesn't even care and is just like OK
I hope you die and I'm gonna take all your money.'"However
she's since had a change of heart."Now that I'm in that relationship and people will say those things about me regularly
Why was I so judgmental about other people who are literally just finding love?'" she added
"And maybe their love looks different from you
but it doesn't make it not valid."
"But I knew that this was an incredibly special person.”
The Alfie actress and the Lift actor know not everyone understands their relationship. “I would imagine it would be complicated for anyone to get their head around," Oli put it to Vogue while referencing their 15-year age gap
"but there’s been nothing but love and joy.” And frankly
Sienna suggested nobody else needs to understand it.“I don’t think you can legislate on matters of the heart," she added
"I certainly have never been able to."
The Jurassic Park star recalled a lighthearted moment with his Olympian wife, who is 30 years his junior."I said, 'Which Beatle would I be if I was one of the Beatles?'" he remembered on The Hoda Show
I think you're thinking of that.'"However
Jeff noted it didn't take Emilie long to realize she meant George Harrison
"So there's that kind of thing," he noted of the couple's age gap
But other than their differing cultural touchpoints
life together is "so far so good."
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley & Jason Statham
The model also doesn't feel the need to deliver a fast and furious response to any critics of her 20-year age gap with the actor."His knowledge and strength are really inspiring and attractive, and that can come with a man who's had a bit of time," she told Glamour in 2013
"We have a connection that has nothing to do with age
but if you have someone at home who thinks you're the greatest person in the world
As for how the American Idol alum feels about any judgment towards her nearly 35-year age gap with the composer? Probably so over it."I totally get the judgment initially, but things are never as they appear," Katharine said on Dr. Berlin's Informed Pregnancy Podcast in 2023
"And I'm in love with our love story
and that's all that matters is that I'm in love with the love story."
“It’s not something that I ever thought would ever happen
you know I thought 30-year-olds were too young for me.” And while Kristin said she understands how “it looks to the outside world,” she insisted Mark is “not a typical 24-year-old” and that there’s more to a person than their birth year
“I really think age is just a number,” she continued
“It’s what you’ve been through in your life
There are just so many factors that go into maturity other than age.”But months later
“I just know long-term he needs to experience life,” she said on an October episode of her podcast
I started to feel the age a bit just with life experience
I look back when I was 24 and how much life has happened for me in between then
This is when you find yourself and he needs to be able to do that.”Still
she called their romance "the best relationship" of her life and expressed hope that Mark will realize their split was for the best."I know that one day he will look back and he will understand it," she added
"and I actually think one day he will thank me."
When the Oscar winner first started crushing on the barrister, he wasn't sure she'd feel the same way.“I liked her, but I didn’t want to jump the shark on it,” George said on The Howard Stern Show about his early romance with Amal
‘Cause I’m 17 years older than her so she might’ve thought I was grandpa.”However
it turns out she liked him right back and they wed in 2014
Age is only a number for the Bachelor alum, who is 18 years older than his wife. As he put it during a March 2025 episode of his The Viall Files podcast
died 29 April 2025 after a truly life-long engagement with breast cancer
I was raised with my two sisters and one brother in Red Creek
It was a small upstate town where we played outdoors year-round
participated actively in church and school
everyone knew the goings-on of the community
My dad would walk to work at the print shop and the kids would walk to school
but her experiences taught me valuable lessons I tried to follow my entire life: find your niche
Mom and dad would not be considered worldly
But they were decent people and wonderful parents
It was expected in my family that the kids would go to college
and I obtained a BA in English from SUNY at Oneonta
I slid easily into work of the school newspaper
I went on to earn a Masters’ Degree of Special Education and Reading/English from the University of Vermont
I taught English for eight years in Vermont’s correctional institution in Vergennes
I went on to be a Special Needs Educator at Essex High School from 1982 to 2010
in retirement I taught writing at the Community College of Vermont and at Northern Vermont University
I served as a Guardian Ad Litem in the Franklin County Courts for many years
My family got its first television when I was eight years old
Television had a significant impact on society
and I became interested in the power we have over media and media has over us
My belief is our safety with our media is vitally connected to teaching our children about its motivation and safe use
This belief inspired me to work with local groups and students
teach and make media production available to citizens
I served as a member of the Chittenden Community Television Board
Among the things I adored most were my home on Lake Champlain and my flower garden
Vermont who will hold down the fort in my absence; my amazing child
Predeceased by my parents Fred Hudson and mother
Growing up in the baby boomer generation shaped my life in ways society continues to explore
I tried to seek out settings that positively impacted the lives of decent and fair-minded Americans
I engaged with people of all abilities who worked hard to make America a better place for all
I was blessed to meet heroes daily who worked to narrow the gap between our amazing American goals and gifts and the structures
rules and habits that do not yet allow us to achieve our ideals for all
My experience is that we are a deservedly proud and remarkable people

As North Carolina coach Bill Belichick tries to fetch a mop and a bucket
Via the Daily Mail, Belichick’s daughter-in-law has publicly criticized Jordon Hudson for her role in the disastrous CBS interview
Responding to Instagram comments supporting Hudson as a publicist who was simply doing what publicists do
Jennifer Belichick (Steve’s wife) said this: “publicists act in a professional manner and don’t ‘storm’ off set delaying an interview.”
We’ve confirmed that the comment was indeed posted by Jennifer Belichick
not bashful about speaking her mind and not a member of the Jordon Hudson Fan Club
In an email obtained last month by TheAthletic.com
Hudson tried to coach the UNC media team to be more sensitive to the obvious dynamics arising from Steve’s job as the team’s defensive coordinator
“Though Steve Belichick is in fact Bill’s son, he should be depicted and represented as his own established, credible entity as opposed to an extension of Bill,” Hudson wrote on December 22
“It can be easily misinterpreted that Steve is simply benefitting from nepotism but that is not the case
Steve was fortunate to have learned defensive football strategy from the ‘greatest defensive mind’ of all-time
He has earned his position due to his performance and output
It’s the first glimpse behind the curtain regarding the reaction to the current situation with Belichick’s inner circle
And it highlights the urgency that Belichick could be feeling to get the situation under control
