The City of Hueytown has put a curfew in place for this week
Court documents show an emergency curfew will begin at 10 p.m
each night from September 16 through September 21
The curfew is in response to previous years when large numbers of kids gathering in public and private areas led to complaints and created a risk of potential violence during the week leading up to Homecoming for Hueytown High School
During Homecoming Week in Hueytown there's plenty of purple and gold to go around
but there's also something you dont see everyday
It's all in fun," said parent Velma Shufford
Shufford is a parent of a high school student
"I'd rather them toilet tissue my paper
than be out doing other things," she explained
But others in town don't share the same sentiment
"I am one that I like to keep my yard up
so I don't want any tissue or eggs or stuff around my house
I think that's terrible," said Shundrika Price
Hunter Hodges with Hueytown Police said the curfew has been in place for a few years during Homecoming Week
He said in the past children have come together to vandalize
"In the past minors would gather and congregate with the intent of causing some minor vandalism
mostly pranking but it does cause some property damage
people who become the subject of these pranks and the damage
and any conflicts between homeowners and juveniles is the curfew," said Hodges
Hodges says while most of it is done in good fun there are still people left to clean up the mess. The goal is to stop any problems before they arise
It stems from the fact that they're trespassing and causing property damage so we are trying to stop that at the main cause."
curfew can also keep kids off the roads late at night
"To keep the kids safe after hours and out from doing anything that
and like I said trespassing and doing vandalism," said Hodges
If children are caught out during the curfew parents will have to pay the consequence with a fine. $25 for the first violation and $500 dollars for the third.
Both parents said they know where their child is at all times
"I have 'Life 360' I follow mine," said Shufford
"We gave birth to our children so I feel like it's our responsibility to make sure they're doing right." said Price
Parents wonder what this means if the football game runs late Friday night
Hodges said officers can use direction with the curfew
but parents should make sure their child drives straight home after the game

HELENA – With the final full month of the season in front of them
the Helena Huskies boys and girls soccer teams each posted an offensive surge to start April off on a positive note
defeating the Ramsay Rams and the Hueytown Golden Gophers
The girls put together a stifling defeat over Ramsay 11-0 before taking down Hueytown just two days later 10-0
but had to go the distance and then some to win over the Golden Gophers 1-0
The Huskies girls took care of business on Tuesday
putting Ramsay away early in just 35 minutes of action
Helena scored all 11 of its goals in the first half of play
making it the second consecutive contest to score in double figures
continuing her phenomenal junior campaign with four goals and one assist
She was the only player to score multiple goals on the night
as the other seven came from different players
Kendall Payton and Maddie Vincent all etched their names on the scoreboard as well

the scoring was capped off after a corner from Hendrix deflected off of Foxworth and found Vincent for the score to make it 10-0
the Huskies outscored their opponents 21-0
dominating both games with ease and energy
The boys posed the same kind of domination to Ramsay on April 1
laying down the hammer with a 10-0 victory at home to complete the sweep of the Rams from both teams
things were not so simple in Helena’s contest with Hueytown
While the Huskies found opportunities for most of the contest
they could never get their shots on target on a windy night in Hueytown
After regulation and two golden goal overtimes
so the two squads headed for penalty kicks
the Golden Gophers’ third attempt was saved
but Helena was called for jumping the line
both teams remained perfect and stayed that way through five shots each
The Golden Gophers then missed their sixth shot
Ryan Borden stepped up and knocked it home to win it
the boys and girls won by a combined score of 32-0
owning the competition and giving themselves some great momentum
The girls also defeated Leeds in dominant fashion by a score of 9-0 on Friday
both teams now prepare for a road test at Indian Springs on Tuesday
