during the bulk of winter for migrating waterfowl In addition to the duck energy provided by the waste grain and flooded habitat the program offers hunters the rare opportunity to apply for a hunt on privately owned rice fields for a single $5 application fee The program has 64 fields available for public draw this year but the total number of blinds available each week will depend upon water conditions Only surface water may be used to flood the fields so the number of fields with huntable water may vary from week to week private land biologist for the AGFC who coordinates the program “Thirty-six of the fields will be available for opening weekend More will come online as water levels rise and waterfowl begin to use the areas.” Visit www.agfc.com/waterfowlpermithunts to learn more about the WRICE Program and get an overview of the hunting locations for 2024-25 “We reworked the layout of a few of the traditional holes to get more hunting opportunities when water levels allow,” Cayce Guy “And we revamped the boat lane names to simplify things all with names based on the hunt unit they’re in.” For hunters who still prefer to set up in areas between marked locations Tuesday and Thursday hunting will follow the same rules as always with hunters picking up a permit the morning of the hunt at the boat ramp and setting up where they want with no limit to party size or total number of hunters on the WMA youth blind and Magellan Tract do not allow open hunting on Tuesday and Thursday These areas must be applied for and drawn through the permit system for Tuesdays and Thursdays as well as Saturday and Sunday hunts The youth blind is available only to hunters 15 and younger and must be applied for through the youth hunter’s account on the AGFC licensing system vegetation is still pretty sparse for hunters to find adequate cover in many of the newly established units but the two drawn locations should offer some good hunting while we continue improvements on the property,” Brett Leach “The free permit will help us measure hunting pressure and give us the ability to work with hunters as we develop this rare west Arkansas duck-hunting opportunity.” Visit www.agfc.com/waterfowldraw for a list of all permit hunts including drawing dates as well as a history of how many people applied for each location to help inform your future selections Each application requires a $5 processing fee but hunters who win their draw do not need to pay any additional money to claim their permit Sign up now to receive the AGFC Wildlife Weekly Newsletter in your times in the past at Hunters Creek Elementary is about a tooth fairy-in-training who has to overcome adversity with a goose by working together while they become friends "I wrote this book many years ago when my daughter was really little and there weren’t a lot of depictions of same sex families and so I wanted it as a gift to her," author and father Michael Pearce told KPRC 2 The book was published in 2016 and it features illustrations of Pearce’s family: His daughter "I wanted a book that wasn‘t talking about why men should or should not be allowed to be married It was just showing my daughter’s family so she could feel like every other kid in school and see herself represented because representation matters and my family’s not a political statement he learned the book had been removed from the school’s library but not from Spring Branch ISD or the school principal “It was supposedly a complaint from a person anonymously and a board of adults decided that was scary,” Pearce said I’m just a family who wrote a book about kindness for his daughter .. It shocks me in a sad way because when it happened According to the American Library Association Texas was home to the most attempts to ban or restrict books last year “We’ve gotten into this book banning world in Texas and in other places does that make you worry about what else may be getting removed?” KPRC 2’s Bryce Newberry asked the biggest part of the story for me is that it’s not about me or my family It’s about we’re in a political climate where anybody who is in an underrepresented group continues to be a whipping child,” Pearce said He hasn’t been able to get a straight answer from the district about why the book was removed “Please explain to me how two parents who love their family is a threat because I am different have any less right than you,” Pearce said Spring Branch ISD has refused to answer any questions about the district’s book removal policy or why this particular book was removed A spokesperson for the district instructed KPRC 2 to submit a records request but the process for getting any answers can be drawn out Spring Branch ISD’s online policy shows a committee which should include “at least one member of the instructional staff who has experience using the challenged material with students or is familiar with the challenged material’s content .. and one parent,” is tasked with reviewing challenged library materials The committee is supposed to “weigh the strengths and weaknesses of the challenged material and shall determine if material in question remains educationally suitable." KPRC 2 has not been able to verify that process was followed in the case of this book as the district has not answered any questions Copyright 2024 by KPRC Click2Houston - All rights reserved He loves
