The Clue Crew all worked behind the scenes at Jeopardy! for many years and are considered “family” on the game show. They consisted of now executive producer Sarah Whitcomb-Foss The trio traveled around the world shooting clues for Jeopardy the clue text was displayed in the closed captions and was italicized to avoid confusion with regular video clues A post shared by Ken Jennings (@whoiskenjennings) After Ken shared his photo of the Clue Crew on social media and explained what went down with his wife “I don’t see any problem here,” along with a laughing emoji the clue crew are essentially family!” a follower said “Always do what Mindy says!” a follower wrote Mindy lives a low-key life with her and Ken’s children in Seattle, Washington. But when might he get around to announcing whether he’s waging a 2026 campaign? “If the president wants me, I’ll run,” Jennings told a Swamp tipster at a bougie espresso martini-swilling party at the Swiss ambassador’s residence following the White House Correspondents’ bash on Saturday. Jennings grew up in western Kentucky and attended the University of Louisville, like McConnell did decades prior. He was even a longtime aide and adviser to the senior senator from his home state, who has since become a thorn in Trump’s side. On CNN, Jennings has been a fierce defender of Trump, challenging the network’s left-leaning pundits. He is often on an island praising and making sense of the president’s increasingly more controversial policies and decision-making. There was one on-air screed MAGA likely will not appreciate, however. Jennings eviscerated Trump in 2022 for his role in inciting violence at the U.S. Capitol the year prior. “I think the reckoning on this will come in 2024, if he seeks the nomination for the presidency again,” Jennings said. “I mean, look, I voted for him twice. I’m quite pleased with most of the policy outcomes of the Trump administration, but what’s become clear is that he violated his oath of office, and I think we already knew a lot of this. He did not act on that day to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution.” Criticizing Trump over Jan. 6 has been a scarlet letter in the eyes of MAGA, but the president appears poised to look past it. After all, who else would be willing to go on CNN day after day to defend Trump’s chaotic first 100 days in office? However, the CNN star has gone above and beyond to make amends with the president. He joined Trump on stage in Michigan on Tuesday to celebrate 100 days of MAGA 2.0. Trump gave his network soldier glowing praise. “We have a man here that—I don’t know but he’s defending me all the time on CNN, and he defends me really well, but he can’t go too far, because if he goes too far, he’ll get fired,” Trump said as he introduced Jennings. The president then hinted that Jennings’ days at CNN were numbered. “CNN, this is the end of Scott,” the president said. “Oh, who cares? Don’t worry, we’ll take care of you, Scott.” Jennings kept his remarks to the crowd brief, but they were in the MAGA spirit. “We were flying in here today, and I said, ‘Look at these farms. I gotta get a farm in Michigan, because when you own as many libs as I do, you got to put a place to put them all,’” he said. Jennings’ shilling for the president on CNN occurred as recently as Thursday when he claimed Ana Navarro was going over the top by suggesting Trump ran on becoming a dictator and was now delivering on that promise He did not promise to be a dictator,” he said brushed Jennings off and asserted he was playing suck-up to get an invite on Air Force One even if it doesn’t get me a ride on Air Force One,” she said He is a former reporter for the Tampa Bay Times and was the paper’s primary hurricane reporter Send him tips at josh.fiallo@thedailybeast.com He told People that Jeopardy!'s audience isn't keen on more change and he isn't even sure what he would add to the show Would he add a catchphrase like current Wheel of Fortune host Ryan Seacrest's famous American Idol exit line Jennings stated he wouldn't be doing anything like that I think Ryan [Seacrest]'s doing Wheel [of Fortune] now so there's unlikely to be big changes on my watch NORMAN — Tiare Jennings needed a break from playing softball Jennings’ four seasons at OU were a grind She never ended a season with a loss and finished as one of the most accomplished players in program history native was one of the core five departing seniors from last season’s Sooners squad who won four consecutive national titles Shortly after her final collegiate season last summer she played with the OKC Spark and helped guide the United States to a Silver medal at the 2024 WBSC World Cup my body needed to rest,” Jennings told The Oklahoman recently and Jennings spent her senior season uncertain about her future she knew she wanted to play professional softball — she’s signed as a member of the Volts in the Athletes Unlimited Softball League this summer — and it’s always been one of Jennings’ dreams to get into coaching she’s spending the season at her alma mater learning under her mentors and one of the elite coaching staffs in the country as a student coach Jennings has been a key piece in helping bridge the gap for the plethora of newcomers “It’s cool to still be on the field and coaching,” Jennings said and it's been cool to get to know them and teach them the championship mindset and what OU softball stands for.” More: OU softball pitcher Sam Landry selected No. 1 overall by Volts in AUSL College Draft Jennings has approached coaching thinking back on what she’d want to hear as a player Jennings has her finger on the pulse of what collegiate athletes endure throughout the daily hustle of a season She’s been an ear for the nine freshmen and five new transfers to the program “What would I say to my 18-year-old self as a freshman playing at these top SEC away games and seeing the different crowds?” Jennings said trying to help these girls out has been super fun.” Learning from a four-year letterwinner and one of only 21 players in NCAA Division I history to receive four NFCA First-Team All-America citations has been a highlight for former teammate and veteran infielder Cydney Sanders who has looked up to Jennings throughout her career “It's pretty cool to see because coming in my first year she was my mentor of the infield and how to hit,” Sanders said “And I still have that help now as a senior I still view her as my teammate from last year or the last three years It's pretty cool to see her working professionally now as a coach and being able to teach all these youngsters.” Jennings has coached OU’s baserunners on first base for several weeks As someone who reached first base regularly during her career Jennings was surprised at how much goes into the coaching position She’s growing more comfortable having conversations and staying locked in while looking for the small details that casual fans miss in between pitches “I didn't know what I was doing,” Jennings said Did I miss any signs?' Carlson, becoming increasingly frustrated, suggested that Jennings was trying to palm off DOGE’s failure to achieve their target of $2 trillion in savings, while reconciling that misfiring with the fact that they fixed some system issues. Instead of speaking to her point, Jennings teased her and asked: “Why are you so angry?” “I’m not angry, I’m frustrated,” she said, with Jennings teasing: “You look enraged!” “I’m frustrated like most Americans because we want to know where the cuts are,” she added. The head-to-head started when Jennings told the panel he had spoken with a Trump Cabinet member who had celebrated the task-force’s success. “I actually spoke to a member of the Cabinet today, and I asked him point blank, how has the DOGE effort gone in your particular department? I’m just curious,” he said. He said the unidentified Cabinet member, whom he confirmed was not Musk himself, said the press focus on the slashing of programs was “sexy.” Jennings said that the insider added, however, that the “most interesting” feat the DOGE team achieved was overcoming supposed IT issues. Jennings recalled: “He said, ‘the most interesting thing that these guys have been able to do for us is we inherited a massive backlog, a backlog of things that the previous administration left us, and we were unable to really deal with it because of IT issues.’” “And he said, ‘these guys showed up over here and they made a huge impact on our IT infrastructure, which then allowed us to clear out a backlog of outstanding issues that we were just having trouble getting to.‘” Carlson looked on in disbelief at Jennings’ comments. “So wait, this is now an IT issue?” she asked. “America wanted to see actual cuts and now we’re going to say...” Jennings interjected, pointed at former Deputy White House Cabinet Secretary Daniel Koh and said: “Well, he just said they don’t, which is it?” “I’m talking as Gretchen Carlson, I’m not talking as Dan, OK?” she hit back. “I’m my own individual and most Americans would agree that they want to get rid of fraud and waste. And now you’re saying that the greatest accomplishment of DOGE was that they’ve solved IT problems?” His response was to reference another chat he had with a second unidentified Cabinet member who said that the input from Musk’s goon squad has been a “wonderful accelerant” to future work. “So what?!” Carlson barked in response “The politicians say whatever they say to put on a good face...” After Jennings asked Carlson why she was so angry telling Jennings to avoid “calling people angry when they’re simply making a point.” The showdown had no chance to run on as Phillip had to move the show on to the next segment Log in to comment on videos and join in on the fun Watch the live stream of Fox News and full episodes Reduce eye strain and focus on the content that matters either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content Scott Jennings, senior CNN political commentator and former George W. Read our Privacy notice CNN has brushed off criticism aimed at Scott Jennings after the political commentator spoke at Donald Trump’s rally Wednesday night - claiming it’s standard practice for its paid contributors to make political appearances “Is that not collusion?” then-CNN anchor Don Lemon exclaimed after the 2018 rally appearances by Pirro and Hannity who have long been outspoken Trump backers Hannity’s onstage appearance, in fact, caused such a widespread uproar that it prompted Fox News to quickly and publicly reprimand him while insisting that these types of campaign cameos wouldn’t occur in the future with Fox News employees “FOX News does not condone any talent participating in campaign events,” a Fox News spokesperson said at the time “We have an extraordinary team of journalists helming our coverage tonight and we are extremely proud of their work This was an unfortunate distraction and has been addressed.” During his speech in Michigan on Wednesday night commemorating his first 100 days in office President Donald Trump spotted Jennings in the crowd who was there covering the event for the network but he can’t go too far because if he goes too far he’ll get fired,” Trump bellowed from the stage You can take it right to the edge.’ And he really does a good job Asking “where is Scott,” the president called for the conservative pundit to make his way to the stage and say a few words With Jennings making his way to the rally stage Trump claimed that “this is the end of Scott” at CNN before quipping that the longtime GOP strategist didn’t need to worry because “we’ll take care of you.” Physically embracing the president as he approached the lectern, Jennings then briefly spoke to the crowd and referenced the notoriety he’s gained from his on-air sparring sessions with liberal CNN panelists we were flying in here today,” Jennings declared I gotta buy a farm in Michigan because when you own as many libs as I do you gotta have a place to put them all.’ Thank you all very much!” a CNN spokesperson noted that the network doesn’t have a problem with one of its paid commentators speaking at a Trump rally because he’s not considered a full-time staffer “CNN’s diverse roster of contributors provide their opinions and unique perspectives to the network’s on-air coverage of a wide variety of topics,” the spokesperson said “CNN’s Political Commentators are not full-time employees or journalists for the network and therefore may participate in political activities including fundraising To the network’s point, multiple paid CNN commentators spoke at last year’s Democratic National Convention suggesting this isn’t a new policy of CNN’s “People throughout the company think a new line was crossed,” one senior Fox News employee told then-CNN media reporter Oliver Darcy about Hannity’s rally remarks “I’m aghast as are a number of other people,” another Fox staffer told Darcy at the time Darcy, who now runs his own media newsletter, observed after Trump’s rally that it was a “fair question” to ask whether Jennings was a “CNN analyst or a member of Donald Trump's White House” before seemingly taking his old network to task for brushing off the appearance. “Of course, it's unusual for an employee of a news organization to speak at a political rally, even if they do lean one way or another on the political spectrum. Fox News even once said after Sean Hannity spoke at such an event that it ‘does not condone any talent’ participating in rallies and that it had ‘addressed’ the issue internally,” Darcy wrote in his Status newsletter. “But CNN took a different stance when I asked about the matter Tuesday evening,” he added before sharing the network spokesperson’s statement. On Tuesday, CNN’s MAGA talking head, Scott Jennings, leaped up on a Michigan stage at President Trump’s invitation, embraced his idol, and then took the mic. I’ll let media reporter Oliver Darcy describe what happened next: After Trump asked Jennings to come up on stage Jennings obliged and then very briefly spoke from the podium The CNN commentator joked he was looking at perhaps buying a farm in Michigan “because when you own as many libs as I do you have got to have a place to put them all.” Mediate has the gruesome video, which you can watch here or by clicking on the image above Darcy writes that a CNN spokesperson told him the network was fine with Jennings’ appearance with Trump even though Fox News once upbraided talk-show host Sean Hannity for doing the same thing Which leads to where I think the line is being drawn according to an email unearthed by WikiLeaks and it stems from cable executives’ desire to have predictable partisan commentators offering predictable partisan talking points rather than honest opinion journalists who might say something contrarian The disease is that the cable nets have elevated talk over actual news Subscribe to get the latest posts sent to your email have done would have been a firing offense in every shop in which I ever worked So glad you amplified discussion on this Dan I was flabbergasted when CNN had Jennings on live from the event talking sweet nothings about his first class ride on Air Force One and being queried by Jake Tapper as if he were an independent analyst There’s a difference between a partisan consultant commenting on the day’s news package and a person who has transitioned from activist to full-fledged member of a certain team CNN knows precisely what they are doing here Jim Acosta – whose ratings were rock solid – was tossed like salad after Trump’s entreaties The jelly fish aren’t swimming just in the Republican Caucus Please support this free source of news and commentary by becoming a supporter of Media Nation. It was a tricky adjustment, and I didn’t want to be there.” “I wanted Alex — like, he was my guy, but luckily I had seen him host enough that I kind of had this internal sense of what would he do here, and that’s really the only thing that got me through. And a few years on, I’ve gotten enough reps that I feel a little more comfortable out there,” he added. A post shared by Jeopardy! environments of our schools so long as it doesn’t radically alter the format that the late great Alex Trebek stuck with for his 37-season run Jennings was quick to point out why the show shouldn't change [It has] a very tight format [with a] tradition-observant audience So I don't think anybody suddenly wants to…What would it even be and not even announcer Johnny Gilbert's delivery has changed much in the past 40 years I suppose one of the biggest swings that Jeopardy has taken with format and gameplay adjustments came when Celebrity Jeopardy added a third round with $300-$1,500 clue amounts where all of the prize winnings go to charity so it makes beneficial sense to up the ante there Which just so happens to be the way Ken Jennings wants it as well I think Ryan [Seacrest]'s doing Wheel [of Fortune] now so there's unlikely to be big changes on my watch would I stop watching the show altogether if Jennings suddenly did have a new catchphrase that he shoe-horned into every episode I've come to consider "What appeals?" to be as close to a catchphrase as we'll get and I find myself repeating it every so often Jennings also talked in the interview about being more comfortable now than ever in the driver's seat, especially after the guest-host brouhaha that followed Trebek's death But hopefully we won't have to worry about anything vaguely close to that
