Class of 2025 has selected Kathleen Adams as its 2025 Teacher of the Year
Appreciating her time as an undergraduate student and graduating from the UConn School of Pharmacy in 2015
Adams rejoined Husky Nation as a faculty member in the fall of 2019
the Academic Medical Center for Brown University after graduation
Adams found her time working with learners
Through mentoring these learners and helping them reach their goals
Adams became driven to move this passion into a University setting as a professor
Wanting to give back to the School where she first found her love for pharmacy
“There is so much reward in seeing that lightbulb moment where students understand a hard concept or feel comfortable talking to a doctor.”
Adams looks forward to working each year to continuously improve lectures
By valuing student feedback and watching her students implement in-class learning in clinical experiences
Adams strives to create more impactful and meaningful educational activities beyond the classroom
The biggest challenge for Adams came during the transition back to in-person lectures and instruction after the pandemic
Adams had to continuously adapt and rely on feedback from students
Adams’s proudest accomplishment is the product of a collaboration with UConn’s Cassie Doyno and Lisa Holle as well as educators and software developers from Monash University in Australia
Adams and her colleagues developed the inpatient hospital version of a program called MyDispense
Described by Adams to be almost like a video game
MyDispense allows students to practice looking at patient charts
and deciding which medications are safe through interactive online simulations
fully accessible software platform that any university can use
Adams will strive to provide the best academic and professional foundations for students through the School’s new curriculum refresh
Adams plans to incorporate more active learning and immersive experiences in her classroom
and experience has been remarkable.”
Adams will receive her award during commencement weekend in May
That’s probably because she’s got such a great story to tell.
A 20-year ExxonMobil employee, Kathleen is leading the expansion of our carbon capture and storage (CCS) system in the United States
We plan to use that system – an unmatched network of CO2 pipelines and storage sites – to help U.S
industries reduce their emissions and stay competitive by meeting growing global demand for low-carbon products.
Kathleen answers a key question: “Is it safe?”
She discusses our robust safety systems for transporting and storing captured CO2
and our work with communities and first responders
As a native of Mississippi – one of the states served by our CCS system
“Safety is our number one priority every day,” she said.

May 5, 2025 by Cherryh Cansler — Editor
Recognizing the often-isolated journey of building a restaurant empire, Kathleen Wood Partners and Networld Media Group have joined forces to relaunch the Founderology Growth Summit
Designed specifically for founders navigating the complexities of scaling and sustaining their businesses
the summit differentiates itself from traditional industry events by offering a peer-to-peer environment tailored to the unique challenges faced by founders
"Founder life comes with unique pressures that only other Founders truly understand," said Kathleen Wood, founder of Kathleen Wood Partners and author of "Founderology: The Ultimate Employee Guide to Succeed with Any Boss in Any Workplace."
"This Summit creates a space where Founders can speak honestly about challenges and find people who've already solved them
Most industry events miss the Founder's perspective
We've built a place where visionary Founders can strengthen their 'how' while reconnecting with their 'why.'"
"We wanted to partner with Networld Media Group because of their depth of industry expertise
journalistic integrity and focus to providing real-world solutions," Wood said
"It made so much sense to partner with them to amplify our commitment to Founder-focused solutions and to jointly create an experience where visionaries can access real solutions to real challenges to really grow."
"There's a reason 'It's lonely at the top' is a saying
and it's even truer for founders," said Kathy Doyle
"Many of our readers are restaurant founders
and we are honored to work with Kathleen to deliver an event unique to them
Founder-exclusive experience created by Founders
The summit offers founders the opportunity to reconnect with their core purposes
recharge their visions and reimagine possibilities within their businesses
Participants will be surrounded by fellow multi-unit founders who understand the specific pressures and opportunities inherent in their roles
"Founders leave our Summit with the inside track for scaling their business from those who've done it
and a powerful network of like-minded Founders who will become your most valuable resource long after the event ends," Wood said
It's about transformation that shows up in your bottom line within weeks of implementation."
To ensure that the summit is a safe place for Founders to learn from one another
non-Founders will not be allowed to attend the event
NMG's Vice President of Events and publisher of FastCasual.com

For decades Kathleen Richert and Stuart Klipper have wandered the countryside
following tertiary routes and roads less traveled in search of subjects
Richert arms herself with watercolor paint
and brushes; Klipper wields his trusty wide-field film camera (yes
“Some trips we stop every thousand feet so Stuart can make a picture
We may stop once or twice so that I can make a picture
and we are there for half an hour.” “Photography,” says Klipper
“is knowing where to stand.” For both Richert and Klipper
images begin with deciding where to stand— or sit — to frame their specific points of view

Gangl (nee Pengra) passed away at the age of 72 on Easter Day
Kathy lived a spirit of great kindness for all she met and enriched the lives of all who knew her well
1952 and spent her childhood in the parish community of Sacred Heart Catholic Church
It was at the church school that she first met John
and true cooperation in all walks of life from family to business
Kathy was ever one to make herself useful and invariably indispensable wherever she went
After over twenty years at Arthur Shuster Incorporated
she joined John to help run JP Enterprises
tenacity and myriad talents carried the company to the heights of its success while also giving her the opportunity to work alongside the family she loved so much
she never lost the humility and patience that her coworkers would remember in her
Kathy found her leisure in the culinary arts where she was a self-trained maestro
her work in the kitchen becoming the favorite meals and relished gifts of many
Cooking was also a love she shared and nurtured in her children and grandchildren
Inherited from her mother and shared over the decades with her five sisters
this devotion to the soil and all things that grow was inseparable from who Kathy was
she beautified and enriched the world around her along with those fortunate enough to be in it
Kathy and John split their time between their Midwest home and the milder winter climes of Cape Coral
she would return north to the gardens and grandchildren she loved with all her heart
Hers was a life of work and service for the sake of others
and she leaves a model selflessness for which we all should strive
Her loving family commends her soul to her Savior
and we pray that we might measure up to example when our own time comes
Jesse (Robyn) and Matthew (Johanna); cherished grandchildren
The family would also like to extend our eternal gratitude to the many doctors and nurses at Health Park Hospital (Fort Myers
MN) who cared for Kathy during her final weeks and days
So many doctors rose to the call of their profession trying to heal and restore her
while so many of her nurses showed the best of humanity in the love and tenderness they showed to their patient in need

Recent release “The Turin Shroud: Quantum Physics
and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ” from Covenant Books author Kathleen Matrange is a thought-provoking look at the research done on the Shroud of Turin
as well as a discussion as to why the scientific community has largely ignored these results
She was surrounded by her loved ones as we sang some of her favorite songs that she sang to all of us as children
1942 the second of 5 children to Clayton Blank and Vivian Thelma Andersen Blank
Her father was hoping to get the prize of having the first child born for the year but missed it by a couple hours
He forgave her quickly though when he saw what a beauty she was
Her mother would always curl her hair just like Shirley Temple and her father told her affectionately that she was more beautiful and talented than Shirley
From a very young age Kathleen loved babies
Her and her sister Nancy would care for and play house with their youngest brother Steven for hours
She loved to babysit the neighbor children and with the money that she earned
That was the start of what would be her legacy of loving babies
caring for children and giving them everything she had
One of her granddaughters put it beautifully
just like the "Giving Tree" (a favorite to read to the kids) Her love felt like a warm blanket
wrapping around you completely and unconditionally.
she met Clive Pusey where they both worked at the church office building in Salt Lake
They were married shortly after they met in the Salt Lake Temple and moved to Northern California where they lived for the first 10 years of their marriage
During this time she was the primary and relief society president but her love was in the primary
Clive and Kathleen had 4 children and being a mom was her greatest joy
she was overjoyed and was always looking for opportunities to show off her grandchildren and spoil them
Mom was always a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
One of her favorite things was to get dressed up for church
She loved all of the jobs she held from Relief Society President to nursery
but she loved working with the children the most and they loved her
She was grandma to all the kids that came to her home and treats were always available.
she met Robert Smith at a church dance and she was immediately taken by this tall handsome man
They married in March 2002 and between them had 8 children
They were perfect together and he loved and supported her family as she did his
They loved to have big family get togethers for holidays
She loved to decorate her home for all of the holidays and make it look festive and fun for everyone that came to their home
There was always more than enough food and treats to go around
She loved scrapbooking all of the pictures that Bob took for her and the grandkids love looking through the books for hours and cherishing the memories that are discovered in those pages
After Bob's unexpected passing last year she has been heartbroken so we celebrate that they have been reunited with each other and are dancing together again. She leaves behind a legacy of generosity
kindness and unconditional love that will never be forgotten by those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her eternal companion Robert Smith and her parents
Kathleen is survived by her children Melanie (Greg)
Aaron (Sydney); brother David; twenty -one grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

MT stepped from this life into the arms of God on March 12, 2025, following a hard-fought battle with a recurrence of breast cancer. She was born in Baltimore
1959, the youngest of four daughters of the late Charles Dawson and Mary Antoinette Snyder.
Kathleen is survived and terribly missed by her loving husband Dave and son Gabe, her sister Judy Goedeke (Charls), mother-in-law Elaine Cunningham, sister-in-law Laura Mathews (James)
and numerous nieces and nephews and their children
she was predeceased by her stepmother Annie Devlin, sisters Susan Whisenand
and Dee-Dee Naesan, father-in-law Robert Cunningham
Kathleen’s mother passed away from cancer when Kathleen was only 2 years old. Her older sisters Judy and Susan played an important role as not just sisters but doing their best to fill in for a missing mother. Judy
the closest in age at six years older, particularly stepped up as a big sister
advocate, and at-times surrogate mother figure, filling the role of a mama-griz as she looked out for her kid-sister
Throughout Kathleen’s childhood and adolescence, she faced times of hard adversity and trauma. But rather than letting the pain of those difficult time pull her down
she burned it as fuel to propel herself to become the amazing and exceptional woman known to all who met her.
After graduating from Towson University with a degree in Public Health
Kathleen worked for several years at the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore Maryland. This began a career that would include numerous positions helping others
first in a variety of medical field positions and then later blending her medical knowledge with the legal field and her keen mind as a medical investigator and medical legal consultant. Her passion was in helping others and numerous clients that she played a role in helping became lifelong friends. A highlight of her career was serving as the medical investigator for the Spence Law Firm in Jackson Wyoming. In all aspects of her life
she cared about the underdogs, the ignored
Several years after she graduated from Towson
the mountains called and she moved from Baltimore to Jackson Wyoming
spending the next 22 years living in the shadow of the Tetons. Kathleen loved the outdoors
birding, rock collecting, snowshoeing, and even did a little hunting; filling antelope tags for several years as well as a moose tag that she drew in 1999
a student of natural and medical science and a lifetime learner
especially dogs and for nearly 14 years her dog Jessie was her much loved four-legged family member. She even created and sang songs to Jessie. During her years in Jackson, she also was involved in the local Jaycee Chapter where she made lifetime friends and helped with many community projects
volunteered with the local hospice organization, and was involved in her local church. Kathleen loved Wyoming and considered it as her true home for the rest of her life.
In 1992 she and Dave were introduced by her good friend and landlord Marty DeWitt
They married a year later in August 1993 in an outdoor ceremony that involved horses
and the blessing of friends and family
In 2003 their son Gabe joined the family
and they considered themselves truly blessed. In 2007 they moved to Great Falls where they lived until the present. In 2012 Kathleen was diagnosed with breast cancer
which she fought hard and defeated for 12 years. Following her successful first battle with cancer, she then volunteered at Sletten for several years bringing her skills and caring to help patients who were getting infusions in their cancer battles as she had a short time earlier.
Kathleen had a smile that could light up a room and a true beauty that beamed out from within. As Christians we believe that she will have eternal life
but one of its best has left us for now. Kathleen touched the lives of many. Even in death she was able to perform one last act of caring by donating her corneas. Sometime the week after she left this life
she gave two people the gift of sight. She would like that.
There will be a Celebration of Life Ceremony on Saturday
at 1:00 PM at Faith Lutheran Church in Great Falls. A time of fellowship will follow the service. In lieu of flowers those wishing can donate to the Great Falls Scottish Rite Language Disorders Clinic or make an “In Memory” gift to Susan G

Kathleen Hoban May 1
Rent Guidelines Board greeted with raucous protests after approving rent increases for a fifth consecutive year
Its final vote will come later this summer
Kathy rejoined her husband and love of her life
Kathy was a woman of faith - faith in the Lord and faith in humanity.
She has fond recollections of her upbringing in “the log cabin” in Hyrum
Kathy helped with the small family farm and cherished time with her family
especially those times with her dear Mom who passed away when she was just 21
and was always found stirring up fun and games with her sisters Marilyn and Loralee
She met and married her lifelong soulmate Vern and they began a sojourn throughout the world in conjunction with his career as an Air Force officer
home for Kathy was always Hyrum and a small bench
now sits on the Hyrum City Square recognizing the beautiful city of Hyrum – but more importantly the people who are Hyrum
Kathy spoke often of how blessed her life has been relative to her childhood and ever since
She and Vern raised five kids all born in different places
but nearest and dearest to her would be the unofficial title of Mt
Sterling’s biggest Utah Jazz fan – hands down
Kathy also enjoyed phenomenal family reunions
significant (and even non-significant) events with kids
A favorite pastime for Kathy was to accompany Vern on the proverbial Sunday Drives (though they happened on whichever night they were together)
Kathy would share over a phone call with family that she had just finished “driving with dad through Paradise
and then back home just checking in with folks”
Kathy shared how thankful she and Vern were for their close friends in Mt
She expressed gratitude for those who provided such warmth and care
Of special note are the family members who tirelessly dedicated time and efforts to minister at a moment’s notice
Kathy understood how important the eternal nature of families guided her focus in life
She loved the gospel of Jesus Christ because it is centered on love and peace
Her example of selfless devotion and compassion reflect her commitment to His work and joy
Kathy’s legacy is simple - work with a will
We will miss you – your incessant desire to do good and to be good
Your example of being able to always look for and appreciate the best in others will continue to inspire us
as you have shared with us on so many occasions
your drive now with dad is indeed through Paradise
Kathy is survived by her five children Gary Vernen Gunnell [Staci]
and Kevin David Gunnell [Andrea]; 16 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild
her parents Jesse Crookston and Phyllis Crookston
She is also survived by siblings Loralee [Ken] Schwartz
There are no words which can express the family’s profound gratitude for the “extended family” at both Canyon Hospice and Spring Gardens in Draper
compassionate care provided to Kathy during her time there
will always be a hallmark of her time with us
the family invites those who wish to do so may donate to the Missionary or Humanitarian Funds of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
