— A 38-year-old Kenosha man was sentenced Friday to 40 years of initial confinement in state prison for a series of disturbing crimes involving the sexual abuse and exploitation of children
Derrick Darnell Curtis appeared in Kenosha County Circuit Court on May 2
where Judge Anthony Milisauskas handed down the sentence following Curtis’s guilty pleas to four charges in case 24CF483: repeated sexual assault of a child
who appeared in custody with defense attorney Zebulon Patek
was also sentenced in a separate case—24CF632—for failing to register as a sex offender
He received one year in the Kenosha County Jail with credit for 372 days served
According to court records and a criminal complaint
Curtis sexually abused the children of a woman he was dating between October 2023 and March 2024
Curtis was a convicted sex offender due to prior convictions in Illinois and had failed to register his new Wisconsin address
Kenosha County Assistant District Attorney Rosa Delgado read victim impact statements from three individuals and emphasized the gravity of the crimes and Curtis’s prior record
“This sends a clear and unmistakable message to those who sexually abuse children: your crimes will not be tolerated in this community,” Delgado told the court
“The defendant is a convicted sex offender—previously found guilty of sexual assault in 2008
He targeted a single mother of three young children while non-compliant with sex offender registry requirements and moved into their home without ever reporting his residence to Wisconsin authorities.”
Curtis’s prison sentence in case 24CF483 includes:
Counts 2 (causing mental harm to a second child)
4 and 5 (first-degree sexual assault of a child under 13)
and 8 (felony intimidation of a victim) were dismissed and read in as part of the State’s motion for sentencing purposes
Curtis was ordered to provide a DNA sample and pay the associated surcharge
He is ineligible for both the Challenge Incarceration Program and the Substance Abuse Program due to the severity of his offenses
Delgado praised the courage of the young victims who spoke out
They are standing up and speaking out against their abusers,” she said
“What is done in the darkness will be brought into the light
We will hold perpetrators fully accountable.”
Curtis remains in custody and will be transferred to the Wisconsin Department of Corrections to begin serving his sentence

Kenosha Unified wants to know exactly what teacher and staff should do if federal Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents enter their schools
To emphasize their commitment to creating a safe learning environment
the School Board adopted a Safe School resolution which reiterates KUSD serves all students regardless of national origin or immigration status
It calls for more guidelines for teachers and staff in the event ICE or other law enforcement agencies arrive “at a school site unannounced or notify staff at the school site of its intent to enter a district school.”
It also calls for collaboration with local
such as the League of United Latin American Citizens and Forward Latino
families and the district with support and resources “in prevention and response measures to new and ongoing ICE or cooperating law-enforcement agency activities.”
School Board member Carl Bryan wanted to know if the KUSD resolution would interfere with existing laws or a presidential executive action
Superintendent Jeff Weiss said it would not
and the resolution the board passed has been vetted through the district’s legal services
if there was a situation where law enforcement came into the schools
We obviously have policy we need to follow,” Bryan said
“We’re just making sure we have clear and consistent policy in place.”
Bryan asked about high-risk absenteeism numbers in light of concerns of ICE entering schools
KUSD Chief Information Officer Kris Keckler said last year’s attendance average for Hispanic students districtwide was 90%
up to the end of the third quarter of this school year
the average attendance was 90% last year and
Keckler said the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s tracks absenteeism of low
“and the high-risk absenteeism for Hispanic students last year was a total of 57.8.”
“These are students who had more than 10 absences during the year,” he said
Obviously there’s still some more of the year to go
but what we’re seeing is a trend that’s either holding steady or improving in these areas.”
Weiss acknowledged individual stories the district and board are hearing from teachers and staff “also have to be given some weight.”
“That fourth grade field trip to the capitol is the culminating event in that grade
“So the stories of students that are afraid to go on field trips
those need to be given equal weight to some of the quantitative data and the numbers.”
Board member Bob Tierney said he wished the district “would treat all safety issues like this.”
we can keep this kind of momentum about caring about safety in all aspects.”
Board member Yolanda Adams expressed appreciation to the Kenosha Education Association for bringing a resolution draft to the board
“This is not the product of any one of us here,” she said
“We needed to do this and you urged us to get it on the agenda and we did
multiple members of the public spoke in favor of the resolution
a fourth-grade teacher at the Kenosha School of Language
said many of her students’ parents were afraid to send their students on a the capitol trip
I had to convince parents that their child would be safe to attend one of the most highly anticipated learning opportunities in fourth grade,” she said
We need clear protections in place and we need them now.”
said parents are afraid to send their students to school
fearing they would be a target while at school,” she said
and we ensure their education comes first— something our community is desperately waiting for you to say.”

during the First Presbyterian Church of Kenosha’s 100th anniversary
It began as a Sunday School mission in a Roosevelt Road storefront in 1923
as a multi-generational congregation at 1803 83rd St
venue filled with worship and all manner of celebrations of life
The congregation recently gathered with church
community and legislative leaders to tell their 100 year story and discuss the church down through the years
the original outreach became so popular with local families that by 1925 a building had been moved onto a donated lot
and Sunday School classes for all ages were full
The church was officially chartered on March 17
The congregation then built a larger structure on Roosevelt Road in 1940
and the current church building on 83rd Street was constructed
who helped organize the congregation’s centennial event in March with Becky Henn
said she’s been at the church nearly 30 years and feels proud its been part of the community for a century
We might not be the largest congregation in town
Infante said she and Becky were looking for more ways to celebrate the church milestone throughout the year
“Each month we’re going to give a gift of 100 of something to a local charity or organization
and we kicked it off this April with a donation to Sleep in Heavenly Peace,” she said
Infante said the rest of the “Gift of 100” donations are still being determined
but could include diaper drives or donations to other nonprofits in the area
said the 100th anniversary snuck up on him
I think that’s when it really started to hit me,” he said
remembering those who have gone on before us and were a vital part of the church when I got here and even before that— it was fun to look back at those pictures.”
Loveall said there have been capital projects
like replacing the 70-year-old parking lot and adding to the building
and mission trips to places like West Virginia
Loveall said the most rewarding thing about serving at First Presbyterian is it is “not just a little bit of ministry and then you’re done with (church members)
You really get to live life with them for a long time.”
you get another wave of them as you get to now be a part of their having children or being married or whatever it is.”

Their new venue was designed to have “a taco bar feel,” Scotney said

Scotney was inspired by the phrase “One in the family who has the sazón,” which refers to the chef in the family who has the “gift of flavor.”
“The inspiration and origin of the name come from my mother,” Scotney said
“She grew up in Mexico and introduced me to our culture’s food at an early age.”
The restaurant aims for what Scotney calls “a fully immersive guest experience,” with details such as a mural of Mexican desert flowers painted by artist Kevin Garbacz

I get to interact with people from all walks of life every day and devote my time to empowering each of them to reach whatever goal they may have in using the library
What do you like to do when you’re not working
My family and I love to explore the outdoors and are looking forward to making good use of our Wisconsin State Park pass
MLB baseball games — both major and minor league — road trips and also exploring local restaurants
I’ve recently discovered a love of playing video games with my 6-year-old
I’m terrible at them but love watching him get really in to trying beat me
A favorite book of mine growing up was "Matilda" by Roald Dahl
"Sunrise on the Reaping" by Suzanne Collins
Most recently I enjoyed "Romantic Comedy" by Curtis Sittenfeld about a female comedy writer on a late-night sketch show
a fictionalized version of "Saturday Night Live."
I’d love to write something about the incredible people who find their homes and their people in libraries

Two Pleasant Prairie women were charged May 2 in connection to a traffic death on Old Green Bay Road
faces one count of felony hit-and-run resulting in death
she could be sentenced to 25 years in prison
faces one count of felony harboring or aiding a felon
Bishop and Dodson are being held at the Kenosha County Jail on bonds of $150,000 and $20,000
Each has a preliminary hearing scheduled for 9:30 a.m
a Pleasant Prairie police officer found an injured person in the roadway on the 8900 block of Old Green Bay Road about 10:23 p.m
The injured person was taken to a local hospital and then flown to a hospital in Wauwatosa
Bishop’s alleged involvement in the hit-and-run crash and Dotson’s alleged assistance afterward were determined through a review of surveillance video and multiple interviews by police
which reportedly is seen in the videos and which according to police had front end damage “consistent with evidence located at the scene of the hit-and-run,” also was found at the home of Bishop and Dodson’s mother
Everyone knows that driving comes with its hazards
But going out for a walk can also be an intrinsically risky proposition
and stopping in crosswalks are mistakes that drivers and walkers alike can make that lead to catastrophic consequences
The Patel Firm identified five common causes of fatal pedestrian accidents and broke down ways to stay protected. The forthcoming list was informed by 2019 data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (released in 2021)
as well as preliminary news reports from 2020 to 2022
American suburbs and most U.S. cities are largely planned around driving, with a few notable exceptions. But areas without sufficient sidewalk space for walkers
or clearly marked roadways put pedestrians at risk
Sometimes, drivers simply can’t see people out for a walk
will want to make sure that they have protections in place to make sure that they aren’t hit by drivers
One good strategy can be to wear a reflective vest when out for a walk
making sure you don’t blend in with the trees or the road
This story originally appeared on The Patel Firm and was produced and distributed in partnership with Stacker Studio
Intoxicated walkers can make fatal mistakes
those thinking about walking home after a late night out at bars would do well to call a taxi instead
Inebriated pedestrians may struggle to remain on the sidewalk or walk in a straight line
but you also shouldn’t be trying to cross dark streets late at night when your reaction times might be delayed
Walking means no waiting for subways, and no inching along in traffic. But sometimes, the need for speed can get walkers into serious trouble. Failing to yield the right of way to drivers with green or even yellow lights is one of the most common accidents that walkers make
So don’t try to “beat” a car coming towards you across the street
follow all traffic signals and yield to an oncoming car even when you have the right of way
Standing in a roadway or intersection is one of the most common ways that people get injured walking outside
Make sure that when you cross any kind of roadway
you are paying full attention to everything around you
Even opting not to stand in the middle of an intersection on the island might be the safest choice
Your notification will be waiting for you on the sidewalk—or better yet
Speeding is a growing cause for fatal pedestrian accidents. Since the start of the pandemic, cases of speeding drivers hitting people out for a walk have risen significantly
Drivers should remember that no matter the importance of getting to their destination quickly
The consequences could be fatal for someone else
and far more injurious to the driver than arriving five minutes late anywhere could ever be

and five counts of misdemeanor bail jumping
Kenosha County Court Commissioner William Michel II set Smith’s cash bail at $15,000
The earlier misdemeanor case against him has since been dismissed
Kenosha County District Attorney Xavier Solis told the court that Smith is “a danger to the community,” citing the severity of the allegations and Smith’s repeated violations of court orders
Defense attorney Michelle Gardner asked for a $2,500 cash bail
The charges stem from an April 27 incident at the couple’s shared home on 80th Street
a woman — identified only by her initials — escaped the residence that morning without a shirt and with visible injuries
telling neighbors that Smith had assaulted her and that she feared for her life
told police the woman was covered in blood and crying for help
Officers responding to the scene said the woman had significant facial injuries and was visibly shaken
and eventually threw a knife toward officers before being taken into custody
The victim later told a Kenosha detective that Smith had assaulted her repeatedly over a span of hours
at one point placing his foot on her neck and threatening
“You’re going to die tonight.” She said she was only able to escape after Smith began to fall asleep and she ran for help
Police reviewed Ring doorbell footage that appeared to corroborate parts of her account
showing Smith physically restraining her and yelling as she fled
Smith was already out on bail in two pending cases — both involving the same woman — and was ordered not to consume alcohol or engage in violence
The new charges include five counts of bail jumping for violating those terms
a judge had recently modified the bond to allow contact
but warned Smith that any further incidents would not be tolerated
Smith is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on May 8
I’m glad to see he’s going to get Justice for what he did but I also have the question why she kept going back to him for the same thing if he would already had charges against them before for the same thing
You would think after the first time that you would not even want to be involved with this person
I hope there’s a good outcome and she gets help for herself also
you have to look up more about abusive relationships
It’s called the cycle of abuse and we stay for many reasons
Just be proud of her for leaving and making it out
Theres a high likely hood when he gets out she will go right back to him
what judge has right mind will allow contact with her
If he gets just the very minimum from the felony charges
he will get at least five years when looking up these felonies up on google
He needs more for the hell he’s put her through
I was thinking we just send him to El Salvador
why would the victim take this woman beater back only to be assaulted again
This woman should get a revolver for when this repeat woman beater comes after her again
Betting dollars to doughnuts you’re not either
But pick a childish moniker then make a suggestive racial comment to prove how ignorant you are

Here are some of the highlights from the interview with NBC's Kristen Welker that was taped Friday at his Mar-a-Lago property in Florida and aired Sunday
Critics on the left have tried to make the case that Trump is chipping away at due process in the United States
they cite the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia

Trump says Abrego Garcia is part of a violent transnational gang
The Republican president has sought to turn deportation into a test case for his campaign against illegal immigration despite a Supreme Court order saying the administration must work to return Abrego Garcia to the U.S
citizens and noncitizens both deserve due process as laid out in the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution
I don’t know,” Trump said when pressed by Welker
The Fifth Amendment provides “due process of law,” meaning a person has certain rights when it comes to being prosecuted for a crime

“Something could happen with Greenland,” Trump said

economy is in a “transition period” but he expects it to do “fantastically” despite the economic turmoil sparked by his tariffs
He offered sharp pushback when Welker noted that some Wall Street analysts now say the chances of a recession are increasing
some people on Wall Street say,” Trump said
Some people on Wall Street say that we’re going to have the greatest economy in history.”
He also deflected blame for the 0.3% decline in the U.S
“I think the good parts are the Trump economy and the bad parts are the Biden economy because he’s done a terrible job,” referring to his Democratic predecessor
Trump doubled down on his recent comments at a Cabinet meeting that children might have to have two dolls instead of 30
denying that is an acknowledgment his tariffs will lead to supply shortages
“I’m just saying they don’t need to have 30 dolls
The president has repeatedly suggested he could seek a third term in the White House even though the 22nd Amendment of the Constitution says that “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.”
Trump told NBC there is considerable support for him to run for a third term
“But this is not something I’m looking to do,” Trump said
“I’m looking to have four great years and turn it over to somebody

is preparing to open its first Wisconsin location at Southport Plaza in Kenosha
offering local residents and visitors a wide range of low-cost household items
The store is scheduled to launch in spring 2025 according to information posted on its website
when founder Hirotake Yano opened a street vending shop under the name “Yano Shoten” in Takamatsu
He later established the current company in 1977
maintaining its original concept of selling everyday items at low prices
Daiso operates more than 6,000 stores globally
with about 150 of those in the United States
Daiso’s business practice has a longstanding policy of purchasing excess stock from manufacturers which has contributed to its ability to keep prices down
The retailer regularly packages unsold products
stocking its shelves with diverse household goods
Its bargain-friendly model has allowed shoppers in Japan
to access everyday supplies at a fraction of typical retail costs
Local business analysts believe Kenosha’s new Daiso store could produce economic benefits for southeastern Wisconsin
By introducing budget-friendly items across numerous categories
the discount chain is expected to draw shoppers from neighboring communities
increasing foot traffic and potentially boosting sales for other area businesses
Economists note that Daiso’s success in Japan stems from its broad appeal to consumers seeking affordable home goods
A similar response is anticipated in Kenosha
where the cost of living remained a central concern for many families
Market observers suggest that the store’s ability to rotate inventory frequently would help generate repeat visits
spurring ongoing activity in the local retail sector
Community leaders acknowledge that additional retail diversity often stimulates commercial corridors by sparking competition and motivating established businesses to update selections or improve customer experiences
Kenosha residents might save money on household basics
while also exploring unique imports such as novelty items and Japanese treats
Industry watchers said the store’s format encourages creative shopping
drawing hobbyists and bargain hunters to discover new items at low prices
Daiso’s history as a family-owned enterprise also contributes to its reputation for offering both practical essentials and whimsical products
Company representatives have not released details about potential store expansions beyond Kenosha
although past growth patterns suggested that more Daiso outlets often followed initial success in new regions
southeastern Wisconsin could see additional locations
Though Daiso has maintained a robust presence in its home country
where thousands of branches still sell goods at the symbolic ¥100-yen price point
its international stores frequently align pricing with local currencies and operating costs
locations are still sold at near-dollar levels
reflecting differences in logistics and import fees
customers generally flock to the chain for its wide-ranging inventory and novelty factor
Analysts say that Daiso’s established model of purchasing surplus goods or overstock from manufacturers plays a unique role in its success
Companies that face oversupply use Daiso as a channel to offload products quickly
Daiso then sells the merchandise at lower prices
The approach has helped stabilize or extend product life cycles
reducing waste and introducing global shoppers to items they might not otherwise find
Officials in Kenosha expressed optimism that the store’s assortment of inexpensive daily goods and imported specialties would appeal to a broad audience
are expected to appreciate the unique offerings
including snacks and themed stationery not commonly found in mainstream retailers
Kenosha’s selection as the retailer’s first Wisconsin city reflected local growth trends and a favorable retail environment
Economic development reports showed that businesses had gravitated toward Kenosha for its strategic location between Milwaukee and Chicago
The introduction of an international discount chain like Daiso underscores Kenosha’s broader goal of attracting diverse businesses and encouraging mixed-use commercial zones that serve multiple customer bases

Roggy is accused of taking more than $14,000 from a homeowner in Salem Lakes in mid-2024 for the installation of basement flooring and the replacement of two windows
told investigators that after paying Roggy
and continued to delay the project for months
the homeowner contacted the window supplier and learned that no orders had been placed under her name or Roggy’s company
Investigators say Roggy later admitted in an interview that none of the funds had been spent on her project
and that he had instead used the money to pay for other Ryder Homes expenses
He acknowledged that he never informed the homeowner of that redirection of funds
Roggy is accused of taking over $114,000 from a Pleasant Prairie homeowner for a basement remodel that began with a signed contract in November 2023
with payments tied to progress benchmarks such as plumbing
Although multiple payments were made — including more than $38,000 at three different stages — the homeowner reported that large parts of the job remained incomplete by the summer of 2024
The homeowner said that Roggy had stopped communicating with him by September 2024
Investigators reviewed payment records and project documents and determined that over $28,000 worth of work was unaccounted for
prosecutors allege Roggy knowingly misused client funds in violation of Wisconsin’s theft-by-contractor statute
which requires that construction funds be used only for the agreed-upon labor and materials until all claims are paid in full
the Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office opted to issue warrants for his appearance when the charges were filed on April 22
arranged to appear voluntarily in court on Friday
He was granted a signature bond in both cases and released pending further court proceedings
the Pleasant Prairie homeowner has filed a civil lawsuit against Roggy and Ryder Homes LLC
and is currently pending before Kenosha County Circuit Judge Heather Iverson
Roggy acknowledged receiving the funds in question and admitted that significant parts of the projects were never completed
He claimed that financial hardship and a lack of workers left him unable to follow through
but he offered no timeline for restitution
Roggy stated he hoped to repay the homeowners once other legal matters were resolved
Both cases remain under review by the Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office
Additional proceedings will be scheduled in the coming weeks
I’m sure he has many other problems in his miserable life
Bums like this make things difficult for ligeit guys trying to make a living

— A small family business is at a loss after a fire ripped through their building in Kenosha
"It's hard to even look at what's happening," Kelly Deem
When Kenosha firefighters responded to the site on 120th Avenue around 3 a.m
The business was under renovation at the time
Fire officials stated the building was a total loss
The cause of the fire is under investigation
"A lot of this is shock and we're just trying to get through each moment," Deem said
Deem and her husband were renovating this building to open a new bakery bar called Elsie Mae's Pies and Pints
The couple says their plans received final approval for the license and permit Monday night
They were there late marking the floor for the new bar
We were ready for Mother's Day with mom," Deem explained
Deem says police knocked on her door to tell her the place was on fire
"We've been working so hard towards this moment and it was right there for us
We're just working through it," Deem said tearfully
this was going to be an exciting way to reopen a shop in Kenosha after they had to relocate five years ago
The family was also preparing to move into an apartment next door to the new bakery bar
Watch: Elsie Mae's Canning and Pies' plans to reopen shop in Kenosha stalled after early morning fire
previously home to Uncle Mike's Highway Pub and before that Little Europa
"It is a location that I have vivid memories of my father here," Deem said
"It was a place I knew that I could open up
It is where she coaches football and her son goes to school
This is our small family business and it's very important to us
We do it because we have a passion for community," Deem stated
but instant support from the community reminds Deem why they worked so hard to come back
but it is this is probably the hardest part of five years," Deem said
You can support Elise Mae's with this GoFundMe campaign.

People have been gambling since the stone age
craps and other casino games did not become legal in Wisconsin until the 1990s
the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was enacted by Congress
a bill that opened the door for legal Indian casinos
although there were questions about their legality
Wisconsin tribal governments signed compact agreements outlining rules and regulations for operating Indian casinos
The tribe has been seeking approval for the project for about 30 years
An off-reservation casino must also be approved by the state where it will be located since governors have unilateral authority to veto an off-reservation tribal gambling hall
The Ho-Chunk tribe is planning to open a casino in Beloit next year — a move that would place it in direct competition with an existing casino in nearby Rockford
there has been expanded gambling opportunities at the Potawatomi casino near downtown
Here's what to know about the recent casino developments in the region:
The Hard Rock Casino opened in Rockford in August 2024
while efforts by the Menominee tribe to open a casino in Kenosha goes back three decades and are still continuing
Scott Walker used his unilateral veto power to kill the proposed Kenosha casino
The Potawatomi tribe has been running a casino in Milwaukee's Menominee Valley for more than 30 years
The Potawatomi casino in Milwaukee won about $430 million from gamblers in the 12-month period that ended June 30
according to Journal Sentinel calculations based on government records
Monthly reports are not available for the tribe's casino
the American Place Casino in Waukegan won nearly $11 million from gamblers in March and the Hard Rock Casino in Rockford won more than $13 million in the month
The American Place Casino in Waukegan is a temporary casino with about 1,000 video gaming machines
A permanent casino is scheduled to open next year
The Hard Rock Casino in Rockford houses about 1,300 slots
The Menominee tribe's latest Kenosha effort calls for it to team up with Hard Rock International
The casino would include 1,500 slot machines and about 50 table games
The facility would be located on about 60 acres on the east and west sides of 122nd Avenue in Kenosha
The Village of Bristol in 2022 agreed to sell the land to Hard Rock for more than $15 million
The proposal is pending before the federal government
It must also win approval from the governor
the Ho-Chunk tribe is building a $500 million casino near Interstate 90
The casino is expected to have about 1,500 slot machines
Both tribes are planning to have hotels and other amenities near their new casinos
Video slot machines are as easy to find in Illinois as cheese in Wisconsin
You could find the games in all types of venues
Although the machines are illegal in Wisconsin
it is not unusual to find slots in numerous locations

— An early morning fire at the former Uncle Mike’s Highway Pub
caused significant damage and left the building a total loss
according to the Kenosha Fire Department (KFD.)
for a report of a structure fire at the former Kenosha bar located in the 6600 block of 120th Avenue
they found the building seemed vacant and under renovation
leading them to decide to pull everyone out and go with a defensive approach

The fire was marked under control about an hour later
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available
Two additional charges—injury by intoxicated use of a vehicle and OWI causing injury as a second offense—were dismissed but will be read in at sentencing
Judge Anthony Milisauskas accepted the plea deal
Pierangeli will return to court for sentencing on July 11
the Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office recommended that he serve 12 years of initial confinement for each count—totaling 24 years in prison—followed by extended supervision
The charges stem from a violent crash around 3:25 a.m
Pierangeli was driving a red Dodge Dakota eastbound on 75th Street at high speed when he lost control and slammed into the storefront of Play It Again Sports at 4017 75th Street
The vehicle ended up partially inside the building
First responders had to extract all five occupants from the wreckage
sustained a skull fracture and was listed in critical condition
Front passenger Quincy Hanson survived with fractured ribs and a collapsed lung
Pierangeli was hospitalized with a ruptured lung
Witnesses—including paramedics who observed the truck moments before the crash—reported that the vehicle was swerving erratically and traveling at estimated speeds of 70 miles per hour
A blood test later revealed Pierangeli’s blood alcohol concentration to be .282—more than three times the legal limit
Pierangeli had a prior OWI conviction stemming from an August 2019 crash in Pleasant Prairie
that incident involved a rollover after Pierangeli
lost control of a vehicle while intoxicated
He was convicted later that year in Pleasant Prairie Municipal Court and sentenced to pay fines and complete a driver safety program
That offense contributed to the felony-level OWI injury charge in the current case
The homicide case was initially assigned to Judge Gerad Dougvillo before being reassigned to Judge Milisauskas
the courtroom has seen high public interest and emotional outbursts
including a physical altercation in October 2023 after the court denied a motion to reduce Pierangeli’s $500,000 cash bail
He has remained in custody since his arrest
Each count of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle is a Class D felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison and a $100,000 fine
Wisconsin law requires a minimum of five years of initial confinement on each count unless a judge identifies a compelling reason to impose less and states it on the record
The sentencing hearing in July is expected to be heavily attended by the victims’ families and the community
who have followed the case closely since charges were filed

Countless people thought of her as their best friend
She had a smile and personality that would light up any room she walked into

According to Dylan’s obituary:“Born on July 20
He was educated in the schools of Kenosha and was a graduate of Tremper High School
He was attending the University of Wisconsin Parkside as a senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences with the goal of becoming a Physician’s Assistant
having spent four years on the Tremper soccer team
he played a season of CYC football for the Bears
which didn’t bode well with him as he was a Packer’s fan

He enjoyed traveling and loved going to Minnesota to see his many relatives
He recently shared his aspirations of someday moving to Seattle and raising a family of his own.”
Release him to the custody of the victims’ parents
Let those folks deliver the justice that Ajay deserves
Such a senseless crime that shattered so many
My heart breaks for the victim’s families and friends
I hope the courts send him (and his family) a message that he should have received when he got his first OWI
Scumbag deserves at least 24 years in prison
His family allowed this punk to do the things he did
When he gets out of prison he will close to 50 yrs old
Send him to El Salvador 🇸🇻 Prison………
Dylan was 22 and Jenna was 21 at the time of the accident
Dave voluntarily got into a vehicle driven by a drunken jackass
so I have no problems with some of the charges being played away in exchange for a guilty plea
this is when the judge will have to step up with some serious sentencing for a murderous loser who was already on his second chance to turn his life around for the better
I wish we were allowed to correct spelling
but it’s my fault for not proofreading my voice to text
But yet….we are giving kids who are basically the same age and bringing guns to school one year in juvenile detention
why haven’t we fucking heard about who supplied them the alcohol and whose house they were at
They are the ones who enabled this whole situation to happen
— The Kenosha Unified School District unanimously passed a resolution aimed at protecting immigrant students and families
formally designating non-public school areas as "safe spaces."
The resolution comes in response to growing concerns from parents
teachers and community advocates who say fear of immigration enforcement is preventing some children from feeling safe in school
WATCH: KUSD declares schools safe spaces for immigrant families in new resolution
The resolution affirms students’ rights under the U.S
• A judicial warrant before ICE or law enforcement can enter restricted school areas
• Emergency contact notification or child services if a student is left without a guardian due to a federal action
• New internal protocols for school staff during unannounced ICE visits
• Collaboration with local legal and community groups to support immigrant families
“To make schools safer for any child is a great idea for me," said Keairraca Walton
why wouldn't I want the next child safe as well
saying this resolution is personal and long overdue
but as a voice for the students and the families in our district who deserve better," she said
"Our schools should be safe places of learning
not places of fear or uncertainty especially for our immigrant families.”
District leaders said the resolution reflects their commitment to creating inclusive and supportive environments for all students

Kenosha County District Attorney Xavier Solis appeared in court and argued that Bishop poses a significant risk to public safety and is likely to flee if released
Prosecutors say Bishop struck 26-year-old Tobi Moeri while Moeri was riding a scooter on Old Green Bay Road on the night of April 27 and left her to die without calling for help
Moeri was discovered by a passing motorist lying in the road
Emergency responders transported her to Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital
and she was later airlifted to Froedtert Milwaukee
where she was declared brain-dead the following afternoon
police pieced together surveillance footage
and vehicle damage analysis to identify Bishop as the driver and Dodson as the person who helped her hide the car
Investigators say a black Cadillac registered in Illinois struck Moeri shortly after 10 p.m
was later tracked to Dodson’s apartment complex
where surveillance footage showed the damaged vehicle pulling into a lot near Dodson’s unit
Audio from nearby security systems allegedly captured Dodson on the phone exclaiming
Briona… come to my house,” and advising her sister against bringing the car there
Prosecutors say the women eventually moved the vehicle to a detached garage at their mother’s home in Zion
Their mother later called police in distress
reporting that a damaged car she didn’t recognize had been locked in her garage
Investigators found the Cadillac inside with damage consistent with the crash scene
Neither Bishop nor Dodson gave full statements to police
though Dodson reportedly denied knowing anything about the crash
Surveillance and social media evidence suggest the two are sisters and were in close communication the night of the incident
Moeri’s family was present in the courtroom
One of Moeri’s sisters delivered a powerful statement asking the court to impose a high bond
We feel that you should know that Tobi was a kind and gentle person
Tobi was an artist and had a profound love of animals,” she said
Bishop hit Tobi that night and left her there to die in the middle of the road
Bishop left the scene and tried to hide her crime with her sister
Tobi is no longer able to pursue all of her passions or be part of our family.”
Bishop did not have any consideration for Tobi that night.”
Court Commissioner William Michel II agreed with the prosecution and family
setting Bishop’s bond at $150,000 cash and Dodson’s at $20,000
Both women are scheduled to return to court for preliminary hearings on May 8
It’s As If Your Hoping Someone Makes It About Race
It’s About A Deceased Woman Who Was Riding A Scooter n The Driver Left Her In The Road To Die
If only she stayed at the scene and called 9-1-1
she might still be out and the victim might still be alive
Some people let those temporary feelings of being afraid dictate their reaction
If you are drunk or stoned and hit someone
a wealthy dude hit and killed someone after
“leaving the country club” on Appleton Ave
he had lawyered up and told his family not to say anything
the cops could not prove he was driving the car and not someone else
but I am sure my haters will attack me on this
Literally no one gives a shit about you……you don’t have haters
Morals and doing the right thing don’t seem to be mentioned in your ramblings
Getting out of trouble legally doesnt make you a decent person
none of which we didn’t know already
Stating your name only proves you’re a moron
We left Kenosha 25 years ago to pursue business ventures….and returned to the area two years ago to spend May – September here
We wisely chose to live in a nice area out in the County as our visits back to Kenosha through the years always shocked us in terms of the direction of the environment here
Yes….parts of the Lakefront and Downtown have undergone a very impressive turnaround
there always were a couple of rougher areas of town that pretty much never expanded from generally understood boundaries
is now a constant concern in most of the city
When a good friend who lived in the vicinity of 30th and 80th told me that he moved Up North because he was hearing gunfire almost every night
What used to be a very Middle Class and safe community with a “ghetto” of maybe 5-10% of the city is now being overrun
My “back of the napkin” estimate is that at least 33% of Kenosha is now a ghetto and expanding rapidly
but this demographic shift has brought expanding crime
neighborhoods that look like Cabrini Green
Instead of being an escape from Milwaukee or Chicago
we are now a dumping ground for people with a feral mindset and no capacity to choose right over wrong
I am sick and saddened to see what Kenosha is becoming
the KUSD is failing and choosing to loot the taxpayers of Kenosha rather than improve student results
the Judges in town have no interest in punishing crime
and formerly good neighborhoods are turning into trash
All the major retailers and hospitals are no longer fleeing to Highway 31
Show me a place in America where a demographic death spiral like Kenosha is in has been reversed
I have always been proud to be from Kenosha
I would never even consider raising children here now
the vast majority of Kenosha will be uninhabitable for normal people looking for a safe and optimistic place to raise their children
or seniors looking to live out their years
If you own a home that is East of Highway 31
I’d be making plans to sell and move before it is too late to get fair value for your property
(And those boundaries are an optimistic estimate on my part.)
So you don’t live here but have alot to say
This incident has nothing yo do with bad neighbor hoods
It happened and this person left Tobi to die
I live 6 months a year in Kenosha County now
and I have several family members still in the city
I refuse to be silent about about what you and I both now is the obvious direction of the city
These two are Exhibit A of what Kenosha has become…..and there are plenty more heading heading this way to overwhelm our schools
What the heck kind of world do you live in
But this is my childhood home….KENOSHA!!!….and
Mass illegal migration has accelerated the cultural decline as well as certain demographics in this country choosing to embrace the feral
The places I have lived in the last 25 years have their own challenges
but what is happening to Kenosha is occurring in a manner that appears irreversible
Kennedy park are is just one neighborhood that keeps getting better and better
Get rid of certain absentee landlords who accept section 8 and things eve
Everyone’s housing values have increased in the last few years as a result of Biden’s inflationary and insane fiscal policies
I do agree that Section 8 housing is a scourge on any community
the current administration puts an end to that program.
The state of Kenosha had nothing to do with this incident
I have lived and owned two properties in the area you claim should be vacated by law abiding
Not one time in my 7 years living in either home did I hear gunfire
Vast areas of kenosha are wonderful to live in
Would love to give that depressed and scared person a tour
I know Kenosha very well….no need for a tour
I also know that Kenosha currently has many areas that continue to be “good neighborhoods.”
The point I have made is the direction of the city and what many of those neighborhoods will look like in 2035
I stopped reading your dumbass post when you said your friend said there is gunfire on 30th and 80th every night
Please go back to where you came from and don’t come back
I actually have come back to where I am from
I am appalled at the direction the city has taken demographically over the last 25 years…and where it is headed going forward
Kenosha became a cautionary tale of what happens when weak leadership caves to mob pressure and ideological appeasement
instead of defending their constituents and enforcing law and order
effectively endorsed chaos by standing down during the riots
they sent a dangerous message: that criminal destruction could be tolerated if it aligned with the right narrative
This failure wasn’t just about public safety—it was about moral and civic collapse
When elected officials excuse lawlessness for political convenience
they don’t just undermine justice—they erode the very foundation of democratic governance
Kenosha didn’t fall because of a riot; it fell because those in power refused to lead
Too much welfare and too much section 8 housing while the old mayor pandered to Steve mills
Here 38 years and never had a crime committed against us or property
Reminds me of what happens when someone is assaulted on the bike trail
It happens once a decade and all of a sudden the trail is the most dangerous spot on earth
You are delusional if you think my description of Kenosha’s direction is anything short of “spot on.”
Show me a single area of the city that is seeing desirable businesses or development coming in
and I will show you 20 going the opposite direction
and job producers….people who know what they are doing and are betting real money on a safe and growing demographic….are fleeing
this post has nothing to do with a 26 year old life being lost
Ask liz uline about kenosha and the 9 buildings she has here
Ask the oakfire pizza owner why he added a Mexican restaurant if kenosha is so rotten
Ask eli lilly why they chose kenosha to build a 3 billion plant
Or are the developers who are investing 450 million in the downtown dumb and are just throwing money away
But I am sure you are smarter than all of them
and then compare them to my original comments
One extra observation….Have you walked into that relatively new Wal Mart out on Washington Road and Highway 31 and done a little people watching
The same is true if you take a drive down any main arterial road running through the heart of town and observe those walking on the sidewalks
The community I live in the other 6 months of the year has almost the same exact population as Kenosha
We have 3 Wal Mart locations….the oldest of which was remodeled recently….not closed and turned into a Storage facility
I would wager my life savings that Wal Mart will never place another location in the “East of Highway 31
or North of 85th Street” boundaries I have outlined
You and I both could describe places in Kenosha that could really use a Wal Mart and where land is available
I don’t like the reality any more than you do
but denying what is obvious is a bad look for you and the others on here getting their panties in a wad over my comments
no one will change your dumb opinion so no one is going to try
I seriously doubt that what is happening in Kenosha will reach my little part of Kenosha County anytime in my lifetime…but
bless your heart for wishing ill will on me and my family
So you live in a rural ass area of Kenosha County
There are pockets of all types of income level in western Kenosha County
my concerns about the city of Kenosha have nothing to do with what “class” you may think I may be labeled as
I would wager that I care more about Kenosha than you ever have or will
If you care so much about Kenosha you’d live here year found instead of just half the year
I pay an absurd amount in property taxes for only living here six months
My usage of public services is as close to zero as it gets
I am basically donating well over $10,000 per year to Kenosha government entities which helps keep your taxes down
No one is wishing ill will on you or your family. Those are your words
Kevin….I agree with 100% of your commentary with exception of the first and last sentence
the city has invested in a slice of the downtown and some of the lakefront
they have expanded west to the Highway to attract jobs through businesses that see I -94 and our proximity to Milwaukee/ Chicago as an opportunity to be successful
that not a single large employer has even sniffed the large swaths of land in the town center from the Chrysler closing as a location to expand
There is an ominous demographic cancer growing quickly in Kenosha
You correctly pointed out that both unscrupulous members of the local government and some private developers are enabling this cancer to grow by lining their pockets with funds for the type of housing that attracts that cancer
This is akin to trying ward off ants around your property by pouring honey around your home foundation once a day
This cancer will consume our town….as you accurately pointed to Racine as an example of a more advanced form of this cancer….and continue to move West
The large corporations out on 94 do not care about Kenosha or you
Or are you going to rely on law enforcement response time when the wolves arrive at your door or neighborhood
Jeez “so sad” you are just beating this to a pulp
Is this post just an “outlet” for you
Nobody wants to read your lengthy rants that you are WAY wrong about
Nobody is retarded enough to actually have the opinions that you have shared
I would invite anyone to check out visitor comments from people who rent air b and bs across kenosha
They love the downtown the parks and the walking paths
They come from all over the country and have no reason to praise kenosha
I started my commentary by praising the revitalization of the downtown and portions of the lakefront
How many of those “visitors to Kenosha” you speak of would dare to get out of their cars and take a walk through any of the neighborhoods surrounding the downtown past dusk on any given evening
Ask the folks who love the downtown nightlife
If you are brave drive down there but of course keep your Mercedes doors locked and grip both hands on the steering wheel
Then tell everyone you made it out of kenosha alive
Because there was one recorded homicide in kenosha last year and somehow it was not you
I don’t even know anyone who owns a Mercedes
I have seen some of Kevin’s videos of altercations at downtown Kenosha bars
I’m not sure that I see much value in being among that crowd
were some circumstance cause me to wander down there
I would be appropriately armed with my conceal carry to properly protect my friends and family should the need arise
It’s willfully ignorant and inappropriate to suggest otherwise
at least let him rest in peace and dignity
Just because a mentally ill person wants to pretend to be the opposite gender does not mean the rest of us have to play along
Dave Chapelle has a hilarious monologue where he equates it to the first time he met Jim Carrey
Carrey was filming the movie “Man on the Moon” about Andy Kauffman
and Carrey was staying in character 100% of the time
Chapelle was forced to refer to Carrey as “Andy” and had to act like he was talking to Andy Kauffman….not Jim Carrey even though he knows it was Jim Carrey
He said that experience reminds him of interactions with “Trans” people nowadays
You cannot claim to have sympathies for someone who has passed so tragically yet disregard their wishes so blatantly
I refuse to continue playing into this debate of yours – accept the reality for what it was
or simply move forward with your opinion and leave him in peace
and I know he would at least appreciate those who knew him the closest remembering him how he really was
I do mourn her death….and blame the presence in our community of feral beings who have zero ability to choose right over wrong
To enable someone with a mental illness by going along with their delusion of changing genders is a cruel act
Watching people….and I have known a couple….mutilate their visible bodies and poison their insides with the chemicals they injest is an incredibly awful thing to witness
The life and energy drains from their eyes
and from my experience in the work environment
they become a constant liability and stress on the culture of business
The suicide rates of these folks….all God’s children….are demonstrably off the charts
Those that don’t take their own lives are absolutely putting themselves in an early grave with these inappropriate medications being fed them by modern day Witch Doctors and Big Pharma cheering on the abuse of their products
Shame on our culture and any individual who supports this madness
An accessory to a crime that already took place should not be a crime
She is the woman who call the police June 30th thru July 8th reporting gun shots
because the consequences for hit and run are much less than vehicular murder while wasted
The comments reflect a definite drop in community standards in my lifetime
It’s a Jerry Springfield episode on every article published in KCE
I’m a retired blue collar guy here in Kenosha
I read the article and determined that these two women are idiots
The driver didn’t mean to kill that pedestrian but now stupidity is in the mix
In my opinion you don’t even have to pull the race card
WE’RE TALKING ABOUT WOMEN DRIVERS HERE
jantzen they both seem like ignorant turds
roughly 40,000 salmon fingerlings arrived at the Kenosha Rearing Pond Friday as part of a decades-long conservation effort to boost the salmon population in Lake Michigan
The small fish will spend three weeks imprinting on the local water before being released into the lake
where they’ll return as full-grown salmon in a few years to spawn
“This is about conservation,” said Russell Mann
president of the Kenosha Sportfishing and Conservation Association
“We want to conserve the fish in the Great Lakes so that they're here for generations to come."
The project not only supports local biodiversity
Kenosha has one of the highest salmon catch rates and each year
people travel from across the country to fish these waters
Watch: 40,000 salmon fingerlings arrive in Kenosha to boost Lake Michigan fish population
Community members and volunteers gathered to welcome the fingerlings and celebrate the city’s role in sustaining Lake Michigan’s ecosystem
"I wanted to contribute to just not only conservation but sustainability specifically for our lake," said Trey Mitchell
"I think that just this project alone is pretty rewarding
not only for the fish but for the community."
The KSFCA is currently looking for volunteers to help feed the fish during their time in the pond
a 27-year-old Kenosha resident who gained national attention for his role as a witness in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial
was found dead from a gunshot wound on Friday afternoon
According to Kenosha Police Lieutenant Hecker
officers and emergency medical personnel responded at 2:52 p.m
on April 25 to the 5400 block of 58th Avenue
Smith was discovered deceased in the living room of an apartment
Investigators determined he died as a result of being shot
The case remains an open and active investigation
The Kenosha Police Department is asking that anyone with information related to this case contact Detective Jason Kenesie at 262-605-5277
Kenosha County Eye has been told that Smith’s twin brother was allegedly the 9-1-1 caller and reported that Nicholas had accidentally shot himself
Authorities have not confirmed this detail
and the official cause and circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation
Smith became a public figure in 2021 when he testified for the defense during Kyle Rittenhouse’s homicide trial
a Kenosha car dealership damaged during the 2020 unrest following the police shooting of Jacob Blake
He testified that the dealership owner had asked him to help protect the property during the unrest
Smith also described Rittenhouse offering him body armor and recounted seeing Rittenhouse in a visibly shaken state after the shootings
Smith’s testimony helped support the defense’s narrative that Rittenhouse had acted in self-defense and had been among a group of individuals trying to deter property damage in the city
A family friend shared a heartfelt message following Smith’s death:“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Nick Smith
The family is unable to afford funeral and burial service costs
Anything you can spare would be greatly appreciated by the family.”
As friends and loved ones mourn his sudden death, police continue to investigate the circumstances of the fatal shooting. No arrests have been announced. Here is Smith’s gofundme page
He was armed and protected a business during a stressful riot
but accidentally shot him self not knowing a gun was loaded
Yeah… I’m sure it’s just a theory as of now
Should probably wait for details before any assumprions
No matter what anyone’s opinions are
people are idiots with no class for commenting on it here
They were best friends that were hardly ever apart
A better headline would have been “Some of Kenosha mourns…..”
What exactly did he have to feel guilty about
Seems like the majority of people are “libtards” huh
He didn’t do anything to feel guilty about
You have no idea what the hell you’re talking about
I’m thinking alcohol and or drugs were involved here
Maybe you should stop thinking before you hurt yourself
Crazy how you comment this anonymously because you don’t want people to see who’s behind the stupid comment
Maybe show some damn respect or don’t say anything at all
They can call Kyle Rittenhouse for some money for the gofundme because he sure got a shit ton from all of the racists
Gofundme only allows fundraising for black kids that stab white kids in the heart for no reason
Gofundme is a Woke jigger shakedown repository for suckers
Go fund me doesn’t support anyone going to trial
They will however allow an account for paying for legal fees after
When you live by the gun you will die by the gun
The dude could have had some book deals and lived large
He didn’t carry a gun that night in Kenosha
those big book deals where no one actually cares about the book or how liberals launder money to people
Get a 2 million dollar advance and slush funds like the ones that those has been finding guarantee the publisher of the money back no matter how the book sells
Publisher makes a lot of money and reports sales of whatever number of books necessary to make whatever money they receive
I knew him personally and your messed up comments aren’t needed
Binger and Binger’s fat-assed sidekick failed to get Kyle convicted in part due to this young man’s testimony
80s liberalism is not the same as the liberalism that we have now
but he doesn’t sound like he was an ideal gun owner
Anyone trained would know you always assume it’s loaded
Sounds like someone else shoulda been in front of that barrel….yes
Nobody has the right to judge someone else or what happened that day
Let his family and friends grieve in peace
It’s hard enough on them without hearing stupid comments
You’re nothing but a trumpfart bully!!
Did you see how many replies are from anonymous
Didn’t think so or you wouldn’t have such dumbass thinking
You’re literally commenting anonymously 🤡
— A Kenosha man remains entangled in a series of domestic abuse-related court cases
is facing four separate criminal cases filed since January
police responded to Smith’s residence on April 27 after a neighbor reported a woman had run from the home without a shirt or shoes
Witnesses told officers she appeared injured
and one man said he saw Smith yelling for her to “get the fuck back here.” Police observed swelling
who alleged Smith had beaten her over a two-day period and prevented her from leaving the home on multiple occasions
Officers reported that Smith had to be tased during the arrest due to non-compliance and appeared heavily intoxicated
Despite the police recommendation for a felony false imprisonment charge
the Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office filed only misdemeanor charges
including five counts of bail jumping and one count of disorderly conduct with domestic abuse enhancers
Court Commissioner William Michel II set a $2,500 cash bail
The same woman is the named victim in the three currently pending cases:
Smith was charged with disorderly conduct following a drunken confrontation with his adult stepson
That case was dismissed and resolved with a non-criminal citation
His next court dates have not yet been scheduled in all pending cases
Nick is crazy and he is going to end up killing her!
Been like this for years Coke addict raging alcoholic and child and wife abuser
Needs to be locked away for as long as possible
Nick better hope he gets jail cause there’s a lot of family members that wanna talk to him
Why didn’t they talk to him after the 1st time
tucked it between his legs and scampered away like a little girl
Pretty stupid to blame her family when you have no clue about the situation
There’s only one reason why he’s wearing that turtle suit
If you threatened to do something while you were in there then maybe you should follow through with it and do the world a favor
She had that house before she met his woman abusing A$$
Men like this need to be restricted from any contact with women or children
You don’t know this man’s history with drugs and alcohol and the uncontrollable impulsiveness he possesses outside of these instances
Not TRUE!!!If you ever been abused you would know …it’s not as easy as you think!!!
These men will threaten their children and family members!!
DONT JUDGE or make statements on what she should do or think!!
they have all the answers and have never been in that situation and NO woman wants or like to be beat upon or verbally abused
Madeline Bovary you have absolutely no clue
Educate yourself before you make ignorant comments blaming a victim in a horrific situation you know nothing about
Madeline Bovary – See you next Tuesday
Every report shows her being heavily intoxicated
She may be an alcoholic but she’s always the one who has the injuries
He is a big hulking man who has been abusive for a very long time
He has been a drug abusing alcoholic for a long time
He probably picked her because she was an alcoholic so that he could abuse her
You have no idea what you are talking about
This pos has a violent history and wanted her dead at his hands so no one else could have her
Stfu with your nonsense and check his record
As one of his other victims and someone who isn’t an alcoholic I can attest that is indeed why he probably picked her and he’s been abusing woman and children long before her
Either way she is a woman and he is a man with a very bad temper
especially when he is drinking or using drugs and is very very strong
but I called what was going to happen long before it did because it happened to me and I was not intoxicated
I guarantee he sought her out exactly for that reason
they look for a certain type of person and then groom them
And for those of you who keep asking why she kept going back
maybe learn a little more about the cycle of abuse and why we stay as long as we do
She is one of the sweetest ,kindest, giving person I know .She is a hard worker with a great job and a wonderful mother
But I’m not sure how she got involved with him ,they dated not long and then we’re married.i believe he groomed her
I’m sorry for what you had to go through with this evil abuser yourself
I want to make it clear she is not an alcoholic
He did seek her as she was in an extremely vulnerable emotional state due to something that happened in her life a couple months before meeting him
She will not be his last victim as you and his parents don’t help condoning his behavior by blaming his victims
It is a miracle she survived this last time
Please do not lump me in a category with his parents
his mother condoned this behavior and has his whole life
I was standing up for the victim telling people to quit victim shaming her because I know better than anything what this man is capable of and why I even tried to warn her family ahead of time
I only mentioned the alcoholic part as people above were shaming her for it
I said I wasn’t drinking and he still did stuff to me
so was saying they can’t use that as an excuse
I am very aware of the current situation as my son was apart of this situation leading up to all this
I never received justice for his abuse towards us either
I had a 4 year order of protection from this man
so please enlighten me how I condone his actions
I’ve been trying to protect my son from him for 16 years!
It should say She will not be his last victim as you know and his parents don’t help condoning his behavior
more than anyone I do not condone his actions
I had to remove my son from the current situations that have been going on last September because I knew what was coming as things were already escalating then
And yes you are very right about his parents
well I can’t say parents as in my situation it was never his father condoning these actions
only the mother and both her and Nick would lie to the father and not tell him things purposefully because they knew he would not put up with it
then it’s 100% because they are lying to him about what is truly going on here
as that is what they did to cover up for him our entire marriage
He was actually mostly raised by his mother for a good portion of his life
she has made excuses for/enabled him and bailed him out his whole life
but unfortunately they manipulated and lie to him and covered up everything he does so the father wouldn’t know
— A man who was reported missing earlier last week was found dead in a drainage culvert in the Village of Somers on Sunday
according to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department
was located in the 10300 block of County Highway S around 10:07 a.m
Authorities say the death does not appear to be suspicious and that Taggart likely died from exposure to the elements
Taggart had been the subject of a missing person report earlier last week
a source familiar with the investigation told Kenosha County Eye
Sheriff David Zoerner thanked the Somers Fire Department
and members of Taggart’s family who assisted in the recovery efforts
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends impacted by this tragic event,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement
Anyone experiencing a mental health crisis or in need of someone to talk to is encouraged to contact the Kenosha Human Development Services Crisis Line at 262-657-7188
Taggart’s death remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and the Kenosha County Medical Examiner
not at night if you were unprepared……
Hypothermia occurs when your body temperature drops below 95°F (35°C)
This can happen even in temperatures above freezing if someone is exposed to cold conditions for an extended period or if they become wet or sweaty
Factors like wind chill and being immersed in cold water can also increase the risk of hypothermia
there’s not enough information for us keyboard warriors
Old friend of mine died being hit on that same stretch a few years ago
is putting the finishing touches on its massive distribution center in Kenosha County
The facility is 1.4 million square feet and the company is hiring roughly 125 people to work inside it and filling additional jobs at its nearby headquarters
Uline is looking to hire just under 200 people in Kenosha County
“Our hope is that by bringing jobs here that we can employ more people locally,” Gil De Las Alas
De Las Alas said Uline tries to separate itself from its business neighbors like Haribo
Amazon and Eli Lilly by offering opportunities to its employees to build a career at the company
“We have a number of rotational programs to help people learn the business
So you rotate across different departments
You definitely get to know the products of Uline ..
but over time you’ll see your career grow into other opportunities.”
“Having ample space to have the inventory is important for us,” De Las Alas said
“Our value proposition to our customers is next day delivery ..
especially in this type of environment with what’s happening with the global supply chain
having the inventory is super important for us but more importantly the customer.”
Here's what to know about the massive new facility:
It's 42-foot clear height allows for tall racks and large products
When it’s fully built it can hold 165,000 skids (or pallets)
which is about 50% bigger than its next biggest warehouse in the state
The company says more than 100 companies are currently shipping items to and from the location
The company expects construction to wrap up around the end of May
The company is building two more buildings to house and distribute products bringing the total Kenosha County campus to eight buildings
separate from the action on the main floor
“It’s a wonderful perk and benefit that our employees enjoy at no cost,” De Las Alas said
Company officials don’t enjoy speaking about the specifics but confirm it’s more than $220 million
The victim was found with critical injuries and transported by ambulance to Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital
then airlifted to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee
The Kenosha County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) assisted with the investigation
and the roadway remained closed for several hours as investigators processed the scene
Police say the investigation led them to identify both a suspect and the involved vehicle

was arrested for allegedly Harboring and Aiding a Felon
Both women are being held in the Kenosha County Jail pending formal charges
Bishop is expected to be charged with Felony Hit and Run Involving Death
and Dodson is expected to face charges of Harboring and Aiding a Felon
The vehicle believed to be involved was recovered and is being processed for evidence
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released
pending notification by the Kenosha County Medical Examiner’s Office
Maybe they should be considered for Pleasant Prairies mental health initiative as officers are trained In recognizing mental health ideologies
Before I would ever join this parade to judgment
I’d have to ask myself what was a person doing walking on Old Green Bay Road at night
were they dressed in any kind of light or reflective clothing
Were they actually walking on the roadway or right next to it
I’m certainly going to wait until I see some answers from the investigation
How about why didn’t the two trash individuals stop to help
Even if you don’t know what you hit… you stop and check
This moron took off to avoid getting caught… not giving a crap about a dying human being
Don’t even start blaming the deceased victim for being in wrong the place
How anyone can hit someone and leave the scene of the accident is crazy
That’s a hair-don’t.Good idea,more apartments in PP
Vista apartments has been a “wonderful” addition and has greatly increased diversity (and crime) in pleasant prairie
Maybe the name should be changed to “Mostly pleasant” prairie
absolute trash and a waste of space-wish we had capital punishment in WI
Why do I keep getting this sinking feeling that I am going to die on my bike this summer
peoples are so silly maybe they got scared not saying that they should’nt have call for help most peoples that’s commenting would have done the same thing.Stop calling ppls names
— In a tragic blow to a beloved local business
an early morning fire on Tuesday destroyed the soon-to-open Elsie Mae’s Pies & Pints
just hours after it received final licensing approval and days before its anticipated grand opening on Mother’s Day
The Kenosha Fire Department was dispatched at approximately 3:00 a.m
to the 6600 block of 120th Avenue after reports of a structure fire
When officers from the Kenosha Police Department arrived
they found flames shooting through the roof of the building
Fire crews arrived to find the structure fully involved
A primary search confirmed no one was inside
as the building was unoccupied and under renovation
firefighters transitioned to a defensive attack
The fire was brought under control by 4:05 a.m.
The site was to be the future home of Elsie Mae’s Pies & Pints
a new venture from the owners of the popular Elsie Mae’s Canning and Pies
In a heartfelt public statement released later in the day
“A Heartbreaking Loss at Elsie Mae’s Pies & PintsEarly this morning
a devastating fire consumed the building that was to be the new home of Elsie Mae’s Pies & Pints
Just hours after receiving final approval from the licensing council and with plans to open on Mother’s Day
our dream was quite literally burned to the ground. This space wasn’t just a building—it was built with our hands
We poured our hearts into every inch of it
It meant everything to us.We are so grateful for the outpouring of love and support already coming in
We’re taking a moment to grieve this incredible loss and gather our thoughts before sharing what comes next
and for helping bring this dream to life—even if only for a moment. With love and heartbreak,The Elsie Mae’s Family”
Fire Chief Daniel Tilton confirmed that the cause of the blaze is under active investigation
Mutual aid was provided by fire departments from Pleasant Prairie
The Kenosha Police Department also provided support at the scene
No further information is available at this time
So yer saying the bolts of Zeus only strike Waukeganopolis??😂😂😂
Dont know them personally but they certainly could use a lot of prayers
I hope the family didn’t burn it down to collect the insurance
I hope the Firebug doesn’t end up in Judge Kerkman’s courtroom…..cuz he will go free…
Not every stupid thought in your head needs expression
I saw a post that said WE energies had to be called because there were live wires on the roof
Last night we had high winds and there are a lot of trees in that area
not everyone is a crook or shady… smh
but this accident is a bit suspiciously-timed….
during bad weather before an opening you’ve been looking forward to
and was “supposed” to be opening within 14 days
and was just hours after being approved… where was the fire protection/ sprinkler system
A fully running kitchen and eatery has this all in place
You mean you just let this OLD TINDER BOX sit bare naked in the wind 2 weeks before full operation
Why don’t people base decisions on facts
Especially when the facts are not even known
Dont you think that would be a bit TOO suspicious
They don’t have sprinkler systems on the roof
so it was switched to a defensive fire attack
When was it already determined this was a roof fire ignited by high wires
A couple years ago a fire broke out in the Kenosha Yacht Club building
The source was faulty electric connections in the kitchen
We know that because it was all caught on security video
The amount of work that went into creating the new space only for it to all go up in smoke must be absolutely devastating
Something this catastrophic is traumatizing and takes years off your life just from stress
The only positive is no one was physically hurt
I am so very sorry for them and grateful to the fire department for risking their lives to put out the fire

— The Indian Trail High School art teacher who was previously reprimanded for keeping a hidden bed inside a locked storage closet and misleading administrators has officially resigned from his position
effective at the end of the current school year
Cabal II submitted a resignation letter dated April 17
to Indian Trail Principal Scott Kennow and Kenosha Unified School District Superintendent Dr
Cabal stated his intention not to return for the 2025–2026 academic year and confirmed his final day of employment will be the last day of his current contract
“This was not a decision I made lightly,” Cabal wrote in the letter
“I have greatly valued my time at Indian Trail High School
Cabal’s resignation follows a bizarre disciplinary episode that began in December 2024
when school security staff discovered a suspiciously unsecured hallway door near Cabal’s classroom
Behind the door was a locked storage closet
which had been barricaded from the inside using an “Alice” rope — a type of emergency lockdown tool
The closet was accessible only from Cabal’s classroom and had been kept locked from general access
Cabal initially denied that the bed existed
After being told that security footage might be reviewed
he admitted to lying and claimed the bed was used to take naps during his lunch break or after school hours
While investigators found no evidence that students had entered the specific closet containing the bed
a separate discovery raised additional concerns
Principal Kennow opened another storage closet and found three students inside
and the third was engaged in another activity
None of the students were being monitored by Cabal at the time
Cabal was issued a formal letter of reprimand
The district cited him for “insubordinate conduct towards a supervisor” and “providing false statements to your supervisor or during an investigation.” Despite those violations
he was returned to classroom duties that same day
The decision sparked debate among some staff and parents over whether the disciplinary response was sufficient
particularly in light of the additional concern regarding student supervision
Cabal had reportedly remained under close scrutiny following his return to teaching
Though no further incidents were disclosed publicly
his continued presence in the classroom remained controversial for some within the school community
His resignation letter did not mention any of the disciplinary issues and instead framed his decision as personal and reflective
“I am committed to ensuring a smooth transition during the remainder of the school year,” he wrote
“I am happy to cooperate in any way possible to minimize disruption to the students and the school.”
Cabal began teaching at Indian Trail in 2022
His departure brings an end to one of the more unusual personnel matters in recent years at Kenosha Unified
and student supervision issues that drew widespread attention
It remains unknown whether Cabal plans to seek another teaching role or change professions entirely
This bald bastard doesn’t look creepy at all
If I had a dollar for every story they started with Indian Trail
I think he was referring to the poster saying replace Indian Trail with KUSD
lying to superiors and not supervising students… This guy is a teacher
Someone who is supposed to help mold young minds
Sounds like the opposite of a teacher to me
I can only imagine the kind of verbal interaction he has with his students
Sounds like we have a culture problem with this many thumbs down
There is something missing and he’s not gonna tell on himself
Leaving the job before it hits the fan is a good idea
Resignation letter “enjoyed my rest at Indian Trail I will grab my blankets and leave.”
and I would have never permitted a colleague to spend a single minute with the kids in our school going forward had a similar set of circumstances occurred in our school
Either he stays away…or we lock him in that closet while we all take turns covering his class
To let him back with the kids….and allow him to resign….only means this punk POS gets a job in another District to restart his grooming process in another community
What a gutless and cowardly set of decisions made by Jeffrey Weiss and his Stooges down at the ESC
… people (employees) in the public sector are being allowed to resign instead of being fired
So that their resumes don’t show the negative
KUSD is colluding with all these employees to perpetuate the bad behavior and sending these bad apples down the road with nothing on their permanent records
THIS IS WHY KEVIN MATHEWSON IS SO IMPORTANT !!!!
You’re not getting this kind of reporting up and down the dial
The third student was involved in another activity
What is it with Indian Trail….who is responsible for hiring there……need to re-evaluate some of these positions with administration…you could probably balance our budget with the elimination of some if the office personnel on 52nd…
the Kenosha Unified School District is warning families about a growing off-campus trend known as “Senior Assassins”—a game involving water guns and mock eliminations that some high school seniors are playing outside of school hours
In a letter sent today to families of graduating seniors
KUSD stressed that while the game is not school-sponsored
it poses real risks—especially when participants use toy weapons that resemble actual firearms
“Some students have used or carried items such as paintball guns or airsoft rifles—objects that can resemble real weapons and cause confusion or alarm within the community,” the district stated
“These situations can quickly escalate and may involve law enforcement if the items are mistaken for real weapons.”
which prohibits any weapon or facsimile on school grounds or at school-sponsored activities
Students who violate the rule may face discipline and be referred to law enforcement
The district’s memo comes amid growing concern locally and across the state about similar student-led activities
the Kenosha Police Department also released a public warning
specifically highlighting the dangers associated with Orbeez or “Gel Ball” blasters—toy guns that shoot water-filled pellets
ORBEEZ GUN SAFETY WARNING “These may look like toys
and lead to serious legal consequences,” the KPD wrote
some teens have been using the gel blasters to shoot at random people
and property—often while recording videos for social media
KPD emphasized the risks:➡️ Eye injuries and bruising➡️ Panic caused by realistic appearance➡️ Police involvement and potential criminal charges
“A prank could turn into a police response,” the department warned
“What seems like ‘just a toy’ can quickly become a dangerous situation.”
Parents and guardians are being urged to talk to their children about the legal and safety risks tied to these games and devices
KUSD officials say the goal is to ensure students can enjoy their final weeks of high school without incident
“We look forward to celebrating their achievements at graduation,” the district’s letter said
Local law enforcement encourages the public to report unsafe behavior involving toy guns or blasters by calling the Kenosha Police Department non-emergency line at 262-656-1234
I am more afraid of the school board then a squirt gun
the kids probably should be more worried about someone fucking shooting them while playing this game as opposed to criminal charges or getting in trouble at school
This country is legit going to shit in like 20 years
