A man faces multiple assault charges, including child assault, after two women were stabbed Sunday morning in a Knightdale neighborhood. Two women found with stab wounds were transported to a local hospital. One woman had non-life-threatening injuries and the other woman's injuries were life-threatening, according to the Wake County Sheriff's Office. A child younger than the age of 12 was also taken to the hospital as a precaution, according to the sheriff's office, who said the child was assaulted but not stabbed.  Steven Tant, 42, was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, assault on a child under 12 and assault with a deadly weapon on a government official. Radio traffic reveals authorities drew their guns before taking Tant into custody. Neighbors who lived on Rutledge Landing Drive said Tant had just moved to the neighborhood. According to court records in the last 10 years, Tant had previously been charged with sexual battery and assault. He was sentenced in that case but appealed that conviction and was granted a $1,000 appeal bond. WRAL News has asked the Wake County Sheriff's Office for more details about the circumstances surrounding the stabbing. Tant made his first court appearance on Monday. He's due in court again on May 16. The Neuse River Greenway Trail is 27.5 miles of paved trail with diverse features.
