A man faces multiple assault charges, including child assault, after two women were stabbed Sunday morning in a Knightdale neighborhood.
Two women found with stab wounds were transported to a local hospital. One woman had non-life-threatening injuries and the other woman's injuries were life-threatening, according to the Wake County Sheriff's Office.
A child younger than the age of 12 was also taken to the hospital as a precaution, according to the sheriff's office, who said the child was assaulted but not stabbed. 
Steven Tant, 42, was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, assault on a child under 12 and assault with a deadly weapon on a government official.
Radio traffic reveals authorities drew their guns before taking Tant into custody.
Neighbors who lived on Rutledge Landing Drive said Tant had just moved to the neighborhood. According to court records in the last 10 years, Tant had previously been charged with sexual battery and assault. He was sentenced in that case but appealed that conviction and was granted a $1,000 appeal bond.
WRAL News has asked the Wake County Sheriff's Office for more details about the circumstances surrounding the stabbing.
Tant made his first court appearance on Monday. He's due in court again on May 16.

The State Highway Patrol told ABC11 that a pickup crashed head-on into a Dodge minivan about 4 p.m. on Marks Creek Road north of Knightdale Boulevard.
The driver of the pickup and two people in the minivan all suffered what were described as serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The Highway Patrol told ABC11 the driver of the pickup was &quot;grossly impaired.&quot; The driver, who has not been identified, was charged with driving while impaired and careless and reckless driving.
A third person has been taken into custody in the case of a mother and her 1-year-old daughter being taken at gunpoint from their Wake County home on Tuesday morning
Eleodoro "Leo" Estrada-Hernandez was arrested by the FBI in Knightdale on Friday morning
The 37-year-old is charged with two counts of first-degree kidnapping
one count of possession of a firearm by a felon and two counts of assault by pointing a firearm
Estrada-Hernandez will be taken to the Wake County Detention Center
His first court appearance is expected on Monday
Grecia Salome Alejandro-Benitez and her mother Alondra Michelle Benitez De Jesus were taken from their Garner home on Buck Branch Drive
The kidnapping prompted authorities to issue an Amber Alert around 2 a.m
Police found the mother and child unharmed around 7:45 a.m
Two others were arrested and charged in connection with the kidnapping
Siblings Paola Duran Duran and Miguel Angel Duran Duran were denied bond on Wednesday
On Tuesday, authorities <a href="https://www.wral.com/news/local/amber-alert-garner-kidnapping-april-2025/">arrested both the siblings</a>. They both have a detainer from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement [ICE]. It means ICE requests for local law enforcement to hold each suspect for an additional two days beyond their release date.

The investigation revealed that authorities seized three firearms
The warrant notes that two of the three firearms found there were ballistic similarities found between the test fired cartridges and the cartridges located at our homicide scene on Twain Town Drive
In March 2024,  <a href="https://www.wral.com/story/minor-charged-with-murder-of-knightdale-mother-of-3/21339948/">a 17-year-old was charged in Earth's murder</a>
"The investigation revealed that Knightdale Police Department have had frequent encounters with an associate affliated with the (Bloods) gang out of Raleigh," the document states
<a href="https://www.wral.com/video/wral-documentary-easy-targets-gangs-getting-younger-in-nc/21465083/">WRAL's documentary "Easy Targets"</a> explained gangs are prevalent in the area.
"The South has seen an explosion over the last 20 years in Bloods, Crips, Sonos, Nortenos, Latin Kings, gangster Disciples, Satan Disciples, maniac, Latin Disciples," said BC Sanders, a retired gang detective.
Authorities are investigating a serious crash Monday afternoon in Knightdale
According to the Knightdale Police Department, the crash happened at Marks Creek Road between Knightdale Boulevard and Todd Road.
It is unclear how many people were injured or what caused the crash.
A group of people robbed a smoke shop in Clayton early Thursday before leading officers on a high-speed chase into Wake County, where the driver hit a parked car at a Knightdale apartment complex, police say.
According to the Clayton Police Department, around 12:45 a.m., an officer saw four people running from the Haven Smoke &#x26; Vape shop along U.S. Highway 70. The front door of the business, which was closed at the time, was shattered.
Police said the suspects got into a silver 2019 Kia Sorento parked at a nearby AutoZone and fled, leading Clayton officers on a chase into Wake County. 
The State Highway Patrol took over the chase, which ended when the stolen SUV hit a parked car at the Mingo Village apartment complex at Mingo Bluff Boulevard and Hodge Road in Knightdale.
According to police, the four jumped out of the SUV and ran away. One of the four, a juvenile under the age of 18, was taken into custody. Police are searching for the others.
Knightdale police officers remained at the scene until 6 a.m. and were digging through the silver SUV parked at the apartment complex. The SUV was packed with bags, and tobacco and vape products were scattered on the ground.
Another vehicle at the scene had visible damage from the crash.

Authorities are investigating a fight that broke out Tuesday at a Wake County high school
According to a spokesperson for the Town of Knightdale
police responded to a fight at Knightdale High School involving "several juveniles"
WRAL's Sky 5 flew over the scene and saw several police cars and an ambulance in the parking lot 
The spokesperson told WRAL News that no weapons were involved and there is no ongoing threat to the community
The spokesperson also said police officers will file several juvenile petitions
Wake County Public Health and Wake County Animal Control have confirmed that a fox tested positive for rabies after biting a woman yesterday
Animal Control responded to the incident in a neighborhood near the corner of Kemp Drive and Hodge Road in Knightdale
The fox was captured and later tested positive for rabies
The incident occurred after the woman bitten attempted to break up a fight between the fox and an unknown cat
no other incidents have been reported in connection with the rabid fox or cat involved
there is believed to be a feral cat colony nearby
Wake County Communicable Disease and Animal Control plan to canvass the neighborhood to help notify the community and ensure there were no additional exposures
Anyone in the area where the bite occurred and who may have encountered this fox or any feral cat
is encouraged to call the Wake County Communicable Disease line at 919-250-4462

“Its imperative residents take precautions and protect themselves and their pets when it comes to unfamiliar animals,” said Wake County Commissioner Tara Waters
