Plenty of college players make the business decision to not play in meaningless bowl games
For Patriots rookie receiver Kyle Williams
deciding to play in a meaningless bowl game may have been a very good business decision
Williams opted to play in the Holiday Bowl for Washington State, injury risk from one more game that had little if any relevance be damned. As explained by Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, that mentality “appealed” to the Patriots
who made Williams the 69th overall pick in the draft
Former Washington State coach Jake Dickert
who was hired to coach at Wake Forest before the bowl game
explained that Williams was fully committed to team
“When your best player puts his foot down and says
we need to do it,’ and he’s the first one to step out on the field
there is a lot of power in that,” Dickert told Reiss
Williams caught 10 passes for 172 yards and one touchdown in a 52-35 loss to Syracuse
"[H]e was one of the catalysts for the type of effort and energy that team played with,” Dickert said
He also knew the value he could create for himself
He went out there and people saw every step of the way
is a big stamp on the character piece of Kyle Williams.”
Teams seem to be paying attention more than ever to whether and what extent a player loves football
by risking his ability to play in the NFL in order to play one last college game

Giants call up Harrison as reliever; Trivino DFA'd2:13 AM UTCMaria Guardado
CHICAGO -- Kyle Harrison is back in the big leagues
was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday
giving the club another left-handed relief option ahead of Monday night’s series opener against the Cubs at Wrigley Field
Veteran right-hander Lou Trivino was designated for assignment to clear a spot on the 26-man roster for Harrison
“It was just a combination of performance and what Kyle has done,” manager Bob Melvin said before the Giants’ 9-2 loss to the Cubs
“Kyle is one of our guys in this organization
and there’s probably a little bit of a need for a second lefty that can give you some length.”
The 23-year-old Harrison was viewed as the favorite for the Giants’ fifth starter spot after recording a 4.56 ERA over 24 Major League starts as a rookie last year, but he ended up losing the competition to Landen Roupp after he was slowed by an illness at the beginning of camp
Harrison opened the 2025 campaign at Triple-A Sacramento
where he logged a 3.46 ERA with 38 strikeouts over 26 innings across his first six starts of the year
He topped out at 97.8 mph while striking out seven over five innings of one-run ball in his last start for the River Cats on Wednesday
an encouraging sign after he averaged only 92.5 mph on his four-seam fastball in 2024
Harrison spent the offseason rehabbing from a left shoulder impingement that forced him on the injured list at the end of last year
but he was set back even further after he fell ill and dropped approximately 15 pounds at the outset of Spring Training
He focused on rebuilding his strength and “cleaning up stuff in the weight room” during his month-long stint in the Minors
which he believes has helped his velocity tick back up in recent weeks
I just really took that kind of month and change in Sacramento to feel right and implement those routines and get the arm height up
Harrison was fully stretched out in the Minors and has never made an official relief appearance since he was drafted by the Giants in the third round of the 2020 Draft out of De La Salle High School in Concord
But he’s expected to pitch out of the bullpen for now and serve as the second lefty behind Erik Miller
but I’m going to embrace it,” Harrison said
They thought this was the best way I could help this team win
We’re going to go have fun in the bullpen and get guys out
Sign up to receive our daily Morning Lineup to stay in the know about the latest trending topics around Major League Baseball
Harrison said he has already sought out advice from Hayden Birdsong
another promising young starter who is currently being used as a reliever
has mostly handled his own transition to the bullpen with aplomb
though he was tagged for five runs (four unearned) over one-third of an inning in a rough appearance against the Cubs on Monday night
The clunker -- which included a solo shot by Carson Kelly and costly errors from third baseman Matt Chapman and shortstop Willy Adames -- left Birdsong with a 1.47 ERA over 18 1/3 innings in nine relief outings this year
“I think one of the reasons that it’s intrigued us to get Kyle here is the way Hayden’s performed,” Melvin said
Trivino missed the entire 2023 and ‘24 campaigns while rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, but he came back to win a spot in the Giants’ Opening Day bullpen after impressing as a non-roster invitee this spring
the 33-year-old veteran endured an uneven return to the big leagues this year
posting a 5.84 ERA over 11 appearances for the Giants
and there’s going to be opportunities for Lou -- and probably a better opportunity for Lou,” Melvin said
He wasn’t pitching in the type of roles that he was used to
I hope he gets a really good job where he gets to pitch a little bit later in the game like he’s used to doing and how he’s performed well in the past.”
Well over a month into the season, the San Francisco Giants have made their first voluntary roster move. Shortly after Sunday’s win over the Colorado Rockies
the Giants announced that veteran reliever Lou Trivino had been designated for assignment
Taking his place is left-handed pitcher Kyle Harrison
the former top prospect in the organization
Waiving Trivino is not particularly surprising
His return to the Majors (he hadn’t pitched since 2022)
and for the manager he had spent most of his career pitching for
was one of the best stories of Spring Training
and was pretty clearly the last option in the eight-player bullpen
primarily relegated to mop-up duty (such as on Sunday
when he pitched the ninth inning of a 9-3 win)
and gave up 11 hits — including four home runs — and five walks in 12.1 innings of work
There’s a very good chance that Trivino will clear waivers
at which point he would likely accept an assignment in Sacramento
But while Trivino leaving isn’t surprising
the person taking Trivino’s spot on the roster is
With right-handed pitchers Sean Hjelle and Tristan Beck pitching very well in Sacramento
I assumed the Giants would turn to one of them
they’re turning to someone who very well might be one of their five best rotation options right now
Harrison spent all of 2024 in the Giants rotation (save for a short stint on the IL)
but was optioned in the spring after getting a late start due to rehab from an injury
and 13.2 strikeouts against 2.8 walks per nine innings
He has returned to his status as the best strikeout artist in the Pacific Coast League
Harrison’s once-impressive velocity spent most of last year in the 92-93 range
and whether or not it would bounce back this year was one of the primary talking points in camp
It’s been steadily increasing and increasing and increasing ..
and in his last start he was regularly sitting 97
The Giants beat reporters have said that Harrison is up to replace Trivino in the bullpen
so for now the five-man rotation will stay as is
but you have to imagine that can only last for so long
If Harrison pitches as well in relief as Hayden Birdsong has been doing
the Giants will have to eventually find a way to get starts for one or both of them
the team is making it clear that their intention to play their best players is more than just talk
Harrison and Birdsong may be the two best starting pitcher prospects in the system
but the Giants are happy to pitch them out of the bullpen just to make sure that their arms are being used to help win Major League games
the Giants finally have a second lefty in the bullpen
Atlanta Falcons rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr
pinpoints a CLUTCH fourth-down touchdown fastball to Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts with elite accuracy
After a hot start to his NFL career, Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts has cooled off the past three seasons
struggling to consistently contribute in the offense
But when asked this week by the Waterboyz Show podcast crew about Pitts' play
Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson said that he believes the time is right for the tight end to see significant growth in 2025
"I'm expecting Kyle to take a big jump," Robinson said
Year 2 of understanding what we're trying to do offensively
so expecting a lot of good things from Kyle
He knows what he needs to work on with the details
those are things we talk about with him and (tight ends coach Kevin) Koger talks about with him all the time is those finer details and that next level that he can take as a player
can't wait to get on the field with him and that's going to be a lot of fun to see his growth."
Taken at No. 4 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft
the highest a tight end has ever been drafted in NFL history
Pitts has had pressure to produce from the moment he joined the Falcons
He initially delivered in a big way, putting together a historic rookie season that featured 68 receptions for 1,026 yards and a touchdown, averaging 15.1 yards per catch and earning a Pro Bowl selection. He became just the second rookie tight end in NFL history to tally a 1,000-yard season
But Pitts has not been able to get close to that performance again, recording 1,625 yards in total in the past three seasons and never finishing with more than 667 yards. It certainly didn't help that his 2022 season was hampered by and then cut short by injury, notably a season-ending torn MCL
and that Atlanta has switched things up at offensive coordinator and multiple times at quarterback since that first year
Despite Pitts struggling to regain his rookie form, the Falcons still picked up his fifth-year option last offseason
trusting that their prized young weapon could regain his footing with consistency around him
And with Atlanta settling into the second year of Robinson's offensive scheme and hoping to start 2025 with more clarity at QB after Michael Penix Jr.'s late-season ascension
the OC believes that time is now for Pitts
Adding on motivation for the tight end is his status entering a contract year as he looks to secure that all-important second deal by showing out in 2025. Head coach Raheem Morris has already said this offseason that he wants to see the “best version” of Pitts this year
and that the team was working to figure out what was needed to get that out of him
With other young contributors Bijan Robinson and Drake London coming off of career years in 2024
adding a resurgent Pitts to the offensive equation could be just what the Falcons need to contend in the NFC South once again

FORT WORTH, Texas - With 12 cautions including seven in the final stage, Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway quickly became a battle for survival.
And while ultimately, it wasn't quite the win it often looked like it would be for Kyle Larson

Larson won the second stage - his fifth straight race at Texas with a stage victory - and turned in a solid fourth-place finish
It was the second straight race in which the 32-year-old scored the most points.
He also led the most laps and was in control of the race through much of stage three

A late crash in the NASCAR Texas race took out Brad Keselowski, former leader Austin Cindric, Kyle Busch, Ty Dillon and Cole Custer.
It happened on the back straightaway with 20 laps to go when Keselowski's No. 6 Ford Mustang got out of the groove and spun out.
After much of the field avoided Keselowski, who was in 12th place at the time, Custer and Busch slid into the side of Keselowski's car followed by Dillon.
Keselowski was trying to win for the first time this year and Bush was attempting to end a winless streak, which has reached 68 races and stretches back to June 4, 2023, at World Wide Technology Raceway.
Keselowski, who hasn't been in the top-10 this season, finished second at Texas in 2024 and had a solid run in the race to that point.
Keselowski and Busch were involved in a wreck at Talladega on April 27, along with Alex Bowman, and Ryan Blaney.
Cindric led 60 laps and won stage one of the race.
The crash brought out the 11th caution flag of the race.
Michael McDowell was in the lead after a clean restart coming off the 10th caution.
Joey Logano went on to win the race followed by Ross Chastain and Blaney.

which was quite small at the time and I found it very difficult
But I think they're the ones that build certain players to go in certain directions
It was going so well for me and very easy up until that time
and then all of a sudden I got to under-14s
under-15s where it's crunch time and you need that scholarship and I didn't grow as the other ones grew
That's just part and parcel of football and life
that people develop at different times and you can be a late bloomer
Our boys now are a little bit on the smaller side and you look at the other kids in their age group and they are a little bit more developed
it's just about the timing being right and fitting in with the football schedule
if you're ever having setbacks or things have gone well and are not going so well now
you keep working hard and use that as motivation to make sure you get back to where you want to be
Question: Which footballer bench presses the most
Answer: I don't do much gym [work] and I definitely don't lift heavy just because I think I would balloon if I did
I would say probably Bayo [Adebayo Akinfenwa]
he's the one who jumps to mind when I used to see him benching at Northampton when I played with him
Put the ball two metres either side of him and he couldn't move
It was like going around a double decker bus when you were trying to go around him and nick the ball from him
he has been for a number of years now and he can lift very heavy
Adebayo Akinfenwa scored 74 goals in 188 games across his two spells at Northampton Town
Question: Who is the most famous person that you have met at your game
very keen football fan for someone of the royal family to turn up at the games as he did in the Euros
at the Euros final and to say the speeches that he did - that's a testament to him and it's a massive honour to be in his presence
You just see the aura that he carries and you know the passion that he has for football as well
so I would definitely say Prince Harry is right up there
Question from comedian Matt Lucas: What profession would you have gone into if you hadn't been a footballer
Answer: I would love to have been a golfer
I've got a bit of an obsession with trainers
anyone that knows me knows I do like my trainers
I used to be in awe of people at Foot Locker for some reason
that would have been something that I would have been over the moon with
they always had great trainers on and everything so I would have said Foot Locker back in the day

playKyle Williams's NFL draft profile (0:42)Check out some of the top highlights from Washington State's Kyle Williams
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Quick-hit thoughts and notes around the New England Patriots and NFL:
1. Williams' way: It appeared wide receiver Kyle Williams had an important decision to make last December
He had one game remaining in his college career
but with Washington State in the midst of a coaching transition and more than 20 teammates immediately entering the transfer portal
the question was: Would he play in the Holiday Bowl
there wasn't a decision to make -- he was always playing
"When your best player puts his foot down and says
we need to do it,' and he's the first one to step out on the field
there is a lot of power in that," said former Washington State coach Jake Dickert
who was hired as Wake Forest's coach before the Holiday Bowl
"I obviously didn't get to see that one all the way through
he was one of the catalysts for the type of effort and energy that team played with
is a big stamp on the character piece of Kyle Williams."
Williams totaled 10 receptions for 172 yards and one touchdown in the Cougars' 52-35 loss to Syracuse -- not the Holiday Bowl result he hoped for
but a performance that helped uplift an undermanned team in a competitive game
We had an opportunity to get him at a really pivotal time in his life
and he just developed so much with us," Dickert said
Williams transferred from UNLV to Washington State in 2023, in part to play with quarterback Cam Ward
The receiver's connection with Ward further elevated his football career -- Dickert noted Williams "can really run
wins in the release phase of the route and is a tremendous over-the-top deep-ball catcher" -- but there was also something important evolving behind the scenes
there's some magical part to going and doing something really uncomfortable -- 30,000 [population] Pullman
and not having a lot of things that you're familiar with growing up
I just think he discovered himself as a man," Dickert said
"I think that is what is going to make him be successful in the NFL
because he is used to doing uncomfortable things -- growing
Williams totaled 131 receptions for 2,040 yards and 20 touchdowns
Williams' 14 catches on passes thrown 20-plus yards downfield tied for fourth
Asked to describe his style of play shortly after the Patriots drafted him
he had 117 receptions for 1,568 yards and nine touchdowns
Williams had been a key recruit at UNLV in then-coach Marcus Arroyo's first class
"The character and work ethic are the things that stick out the most -- a small-school guy in inner-city L.A.
kind of a needle in a haystack," said Arroyo
who is currently in his second season as offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at Arizona State
"There were a couple kids that were outliers that I thought had some really good skill sets
He went to [three] different [high] schools -- was still the best player
never really said a bad thing about changing schools
I knew we had a guy who was going to take every second
to learn it and try to become the best he could."
Arroyo believes that makes Williams an ideal fit for the Patriots' culture
which he first became familiar with as an assistant under Dick Tomey at San Jose State from 2005 to 2008 (Tomey coached Patriots Hall of Famer Tedy Bruschi at Arizona) and later while coaching at Cal (when the Patriots selected running back Shane Vereen)
Arroyo shared his answer to those in the NFL who asked him about Williams leading up to the draft
'Are they blue-collar guys who show up early and stay late
Are you going to have to worry about them off the field?' Those are the ones I was able to answer dramatically
"I can't say enough good things about the human
that's where we all want to start -- someone who loves ball and wants to work his butt off."
2. Larison's guarantee: Of the 17 undrafted free agents the Patriots agreed to contracts with, UC Davis running back Lan Larison has one of the richest deals as he received $175,000 in guaranteed money
That reflects how the Patriots likely had competition from other teams to land Larison
a dual threat who finished his college career with 641 carries for 3,634 yards and 41 touchdowns
and 127 receptions for 1,626 yards and 10 TDs
Closer to home, Boston College offensive lineman Jack Conley also had other suitors
as his contract with the Patriots includes $110,000 in guaranteed money
The Patriots' three-day rookie minicamp starts Friday
3. Maye works ahead: Quarterback Drake Maye said one of his goals this offseason is to master the verbiage of coordinator Josh McDaniels' offense
specifically working ahead of his teammates in that area so they can look to him with assurance and avoid a situation where he might say
"We used to call it this [in the old offense]
is to "just try to switch the lingo completely
4. Diggs' impression: While Diggs is still rehabbing from a torn ACL in his right knee, veteran tight end Austin Hooper seemed surprised at what he has been able to do during the team's voluntary offseason program
You can see him already with the explosion
Maye shared that Diggs was on his fantasy team in high school and that now he's excited to throw to him as a teammate
5. Vrabel's chest pad: One consistent part of Mike Vrabel's coaching style is how he puts on a chest pad and engages players at the line of scrimmage, which included first-round pick Will Campbell now-famously knocking him on his backside in a predraft workout in Louisiana
Vrabel said that's one way he can feel a player's power
Recently signed edge rusher K'Lavon Chaisson smiled while explaining that there's a benefit to Vrabel's approach for players: There aren't many jobs in which employees can blast their boss
"When you get a chance to put your hands on him
you want to take advantage of it and get a good strike in," he cracked
6. They said it: "When I got the offer sheet from the Raiders, I'm sitting down with my wife, tearing up, and I'm like, 'Is this really happening? I've been cut six times.'" -- restricted free agent linebacker Christian Elliss
$13.5 million deal that the Patriots matched from the Raiders and what it represented in his career journey including stops with Minnesota
7. Ashby intel: The Patriots made Vanderbilt's Julian Ashby the first NFL long-snapper drafted since 2021 when they selected him in the seventh round (No
and sources familiar with the matter said Ashby had private workouts with nine teams before the draft
including one with the Patriots in Nashville that Vrabel was part of alongside another scout and special teams coordinator Jeremy Springer
Ashby also had a predraft visit with the Bears in Chicago
So instead of having to compete with other teams to sign Ashby as an undrafted free agent
the Patriots moved ahead with drafting him
With the releases of LS Joe Cardona and C David Andrews, and Deatrich Wise Jr. and Jonathan Jones departing as free agents, the 4 longest tenured Patriots are no longer with the team.New longest tenured players: S Kyle Dugger, OLB Anfernee Jennings, OL Mike Onwenu ... from 2020. pic.twitter.com/YdwlYC0NXK
8. Cardona's goodbye: When long-snapper Joe Cardona was released early last week after 10 years with the Patriots
he made the rounds inside Gillette Stadium to say goodbye to various team employees with whom he'd developed a connection over the past decade
joining a meeting of the Patriots' content team to say thank you
we've never had a [released] player come up and do that," Fred Kirsch
especially considering services were held in Nashville
10. Did you know? Since 2000, the Patriots have selected two players from the same school in the draft 17 times -- most recently this year with LSU offensive tackle Campbell (first round) and edge rusher Bradyn Swinson (fifth round)
but Scot Loeffler finally gets to coach Kyle McCord
Loeffler is in his first year as Eagles quarterback coach
and McCord is the rookie 6th-round quarterback from St
But once upon a time Loeffler was offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Boston College
and McCord was an 8th-grader at Harrington Middle School in Mount Laurel
stay in the game with the latest updates on your beloved Philadelphia sports teams
So I've known him forever and we've kept in touch
He's one of the few college coaches that I didn't play for that I still have a lot of conversation with
you never know how your paths are going to cross
And so for him (to be) in his first year here and obviously my first year in the NFL being together is pretty sweet.”
How does an 8th-grader get a scholarship offer from an ACC school
I had a strong arm and my footwork was pretty solid
but you look back at those videos and you think you're the best and there's like so much to clean up
analysis and more with NBC Sports Philadelphia
The scholarship offer came in the spring of 2017
but McCord didn’t know about it until after he entered the Prep that fall
“I didn't start my freshman year at the Prep and after our senior quarterback committed to his school
then my head coach brought me in his office after the season and was like
but I feel like now is the time to tell you
“That was my first offer but my high school coach held it for me because he didn't think I deserved it yet being in eighth grade
but I didn't know about it until a few months later
… So it kind of felt like I missed out a little bit
after the 2018 season to become head coach at Bowling Green
where he spent the last six years before joining Nick Sirianni’s coaching staff
And McCord threw for a Catholic League-record 6,887 yards and 88 touchdowns before entering Ohio State in the fall of 2021 and then playing last year at Syracuse
where he led the BCS with 4,779 passing yards
But even when they went their separate ways
I think I talked to him maybe three times throughout the season
which is a good amount for someone who you're not playing for,” McCord said
“And he’d reach out after games and give advice and congratulate me and stuff like that
And obviously he was still (coaching) in college too
so we had no idea that it was even a possibility
“And then I met with him on Zoom when he got the (Eagles) job
But obviously you have no idea where you're going at that point.”
When the Eagles called McCord to let him know they drafted him
Eight years after recruiting McCord out of middle school
“There was just so much emotion when I first got the call and then hearing his voice,” McCord said
seeing how far we've come.’ I think it was 2017 when I first met him
So it is pretty cool just to kind of see it come full circle.”
McCord will start out the summer competing with Dorian Thompson-Robinson
acquired from the Browns in the Kenny Pickett trade
for the 3rd-string job behind Jalen Hurts and Tanner McKee
And he’ll do it playing for a coach who’s been a fan of his since he was 16 years old
What did Loeffler see in a teenage Kyle McCord all those years ago
“I was very intentional and loved football
and I think he saw that right away,” McCord said
“And I think that's part of the reason he offered me so early is that he saw just my mindset around the game
just being a quarterback guy and having that opportunity to meet so early
it's cool to kind of see that relationship develop
“And so I'm thankful that he kept in touch because obviously not a lot of coaches do that.”
Texas - It's not always wins and top fives that tell the story when it comes to the NASCAR Cup Series points standings.
Races like Sunday's at Texas Motor Speedway - one in which William Byron and the No
24 RAPTOR Chevy team rallied for a 13th-place finish after suffering damage on pit road - are just as important.
So, instead of a disaster, Byron turned in a workmanlike top 15 and retained the top spot for yet another week in the standings. But he does have a hard charging Hendrick Motorsports teammate who is continuing to gain ground.
RELATED: Hendrick Motorsports Fan Fest details, schedule
For the second straight week, Kyle Larson scored the most points of any driver in the field
winning stage two and piling up 17 stage points to go along with a fourth-place finish
he moved to within 13 points of Byron at the top.
Chase Elliott took advantage of an early engine failure for Denny Hamlin and moved into a tie for third place while Alex Bowman remained in the top 10

7:57PM: Harrison will be used as a reliever, according to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area
A 40-man roster spot has also been created with Trivino being DFA’ed
though no other transaction appears to be forthcoming to fill that spot
Trivino threw a scoreless inning of relief in today’ 9-3 win over the Rockies
though his ERA still sits at 5.84 over 12 1/3 frames this season
with below-average strikeout and walk rates
The righty has been tagged for four home runs during his brief sample size of work
and it appears as though the Giants are ready to move on
or are at least comfortable in exposing Trivino to the waiver wire
Some rust isn’t unusual given Trivino’s long layoff
as a Tommy John surgery and some other arm issues kept him from any MLB action at all during the 2023-24 seasons
Trivino’s only on-field action in the previous two years was 11 minor league innings with the Yankees last year
and some late-season shoulder soreness erased any hope Trivino had of making a late-season return to the Show before 2024 was over
He caught on with San Francisco on a minor league contract during the offseason
and getting selected to the active roster meant that Trivino locked in a $1.5MM guaranteed salary for the 2025 season
making the timing slightly unusual if Harrison is indeed taking Hicks’ rotation spot
Over 159 Major League innings during the 2023-24 seasons
Harrison seemed set to have a rotation spot lined up heading into 2025
yet a shoulder impingement that cut his 2024 season short in September ended up lingering into the offseason
thus delaying his usual winter ramp-up work
Between that disruption to Harrison’s routine and a virus that hit him hard during Spring Training
the decision was made to have Harrison begin the season in Triple-A in order to let him get fully ready
As one of the more highly-touted starting prospects in baseball prior to his first call-up
Harrison is a key part of the Giants’ future
and a pitcher the team naturally hopes can be a long-term cornerstone
That doesn’t necessarily mean Harrison will get another crack in the rotation immediately
but this call-up means that the Giants are eager to see how he further adjusts to take big league hitters
San Francisco Giants Transactions Kyle Harrison Lou Trivino
How are Wilmer and Lee treating you Frugal
No mention of Wade I see and let’s check back on Wilmer and his .234 BA in a month and if he is even healthy by then
One of the many differences between me and you clowns is I have no problem admitting when I’m wrong and in this case I couldn’t be happier to be wrong about Lee
Been almost 7 years since you guys were wrong about Farhan don’t expect any of you have the balls to admit you were blew that one
I educate myself as best I can but Im guessing
I wasn’t wrong in pushing back on your incessant childish criticism
Offensive disrespectful exaggerated rubbish
So sticking with the post that started this
keep in mind bivens has 2 minor league options left
Just wondering if players with options get dfa’d
With runners in scoring position he’s hitting .406
@frugalfarhan: Get a life (and a new shtick)
next is a referance to him being the next move
Are youbthat desperate to be right about something that you and your goon buddies have to dissexct everything I say but never go back to look at your own comments…
Oh damn I misspelled a few words there better jump on me!
And typing that took more time than you’re worth
admitting you’re wrong would mean that’s all you’d do
but do some research about his acquisitions
The Giants have been great and much of their success this year has been with FZ acquisitions
Posey has redirected the organizations philosophy
it worked in 2021when he was named Exec of the Year
he’s had some draft success…just not enough
and Miller to your list of successful acquisitions
Especially Ray considering that that trade off-loaded Haniger
FZ also signed Chapman to the initial deal
and the extension by Posey wouldn’t have happened without it
your list of draftees would suggest that FZ didn’t exactly stink up the joint either
Plus there are still guys that have yet to develop
To characterize the FZ regime as a complete disaster is ridiculous
revealing a serious lack of baseball knowledge
Or do you only care about bragging on MLBTR about being right about something that occurred SEVEN YEARS AGO
It doesn’t matter; they’re both in the wrong league
It’s Hicks who should be moved to the pen or even better (but it won’t happen) Verlander to the pen
(Both Birdsong and Harrison are being stretched in long relief which is smart when their time comes to join the rotation.)
I think there’s some recency bias in your take
Prior to his last outing he had 8 straight solid games
he pitched 10.1 innings giving up only one unearned run on just 3 hits
Maybe Birdsong is up next to join the rotation
A possible precursor to Roupp going to the pen and Birdsong to the rotation
but Birdsong to rotation for Hicks or Verlander (should happen but won’t)
I’m loving birdsong coming in for 2 or 3 after a 5 or 6 inning starter effort
I wouldn’t be unhappy if they run a similar strategy with Harrison
Starters are more valuable then long relievers
He will be in the rotation in the next two months (by July) mark it down
They have 4-5 guys ready to take the long relief role when he moves to starter
There’s a mop up long guy but I think it’s different with Birdsong
You are assuming Melvin uses him correctly
He doesn’t seem to have any rhyme or reason to who and how he uses maybe the best pen in the majors
There’s been moves that have surprised me but his rhyme and reason is his business
Who knows what all the factors are inside the sanctum
Those were “bounce off the wall” triples
CF does not yet know how to play the wall
If the batted ball is going to hit high off the wall
the CF shouldn’t stand at the base of the wall and wait for the ball to bounce away making it necessary for the fielder to sprint after it to track it down as the batter takes an extra base or two as a result of the MISPLAY
To be honest those two triples would have been homers in about 90 percent of all the other ballparks
Hicks needs to step aside and let someone like Harrison or Birdsong start; your ego will ruin your career
Hicks would put one on your nose if you asked him to step aside for someone else
More about competitor than big ego with Hicks
it’ll be management’s call (if and when) not Hicks’ call
right now this adds pressure to Hicks and Roupp to perform better or face replacement

After a bright start followed by three disappointing seasons
Pitts now rolls into another training camp where yet again there are more questions than answers
Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson feels he's got some form of a solution
but only if Pitts can find his own sweet spot and master year two within the offensive system
The Falcons Podcast: Spotify | Apple Pods | iHeart
"I'm expecting Kyle to take a big jump," Robinson told reporters last week
Year 2 of understanding what we're trying to do offensively
“He knows what he needs to work on with the details
those are the things we talk about with him and (tight ends coach Kevin) Koger talks about with him all the time is those finer details and that next level that he can take as a player
can't wait to get out on the field with him and that's going to be a lot of fun to see his growth."
Pitts impressive 1,000 yard rookie season seems a distant speck in the rear view mirror these days
Yet to find Robinson still stressing the importance of Pitts embracing making his own improvements
especially when it comes to fundamentals and techniques
makes it all sound like it's more than a little past due
any player playing on his fifth-year option shouldn't need to be reminded that there needs to be far better levels of consistency to his play
The 24-year-old is in a contract year and has more to play for than ever
Reason being, after San Francisco 49ers star George Kittle once again reset the tight end market, it would probably mean a big payday looms for Pitts if he rediscovers his rookie form in 2025. OverTheCap projects the franchise tag for tight ends to jump to just over $16 million in 2026
The Falcons made history when they made Pitts the highest drafted tight end of all time with the No. 4 overall pick in 2021
There’s still time to see a positive return on general manager Terry Fontenot’s first draft pick
and Falcons fans are hoping the fifth year is the charm

Spoilers for Season 4, Episode 21 of Ghosts are ahead! If you aren’t caught up, you can stream the show with a Paramount+ subscription
catch new episodes on CBS every Thursday at 8:30 p.m
Ghosts finally gave us another human who could see the ghosts, and now I’m really hoping we get to see him again. In the latest episode to air on the 2025 TV schedule
we were introduced to Ben Feldman’s Kyle
and he quickly made a splash at Woodstone by working as the ghost's servant (basically) and making a move on Sam
and I’d really like him to come back
I’m here to present a theory for how this could happen
Ghosts has given us so many fun guest characters this season who were featured in a couple of episodes
I think it’s important to have another human who can see the spirits to shake things up every now and then in the manor
His and Sam’s views on the ghosts fascinatingly juxtapose each other
The drama he caused between Sam and Jay was also funny and reiterated how good they are as a couple
I’d love for all this to be explored more in the future
and I have a theory about how it could happen
That will give you access to shows like Ghosts
you can add Showtime and take away ads by upgrading to a premium plan for $12.99 per month
and he even tried to get possessed for her
Now, Bela has returned to Woodstone Manor a few times during Season 4
and she kept making comments about how hot Kyle was
Maybe Kyle could make another love triangle with Bela and Eric
causing yet another funny headache for Jay
Bela is the kind of person Kyle is looking for
A Ghosts Star Shared His Hopes When It Comes To Ghosts Being 'Sucked Off,' And I'm Right There With Him
Ben Feldman’s character comments on how hard it is to find love as a person who can see ghosts
It gave us all some perspective about just how great Sam and Jay are together
and how accepting and willing Jay is when it comes to his wife’s special abilities
She’s all in on the idea that they’re there
I feel like she and Kyle could be a good match
She has written for national publications as well as daily and alt-weekly newspapers in Spokane
She graduated with her master’s degree in arts journalism and communications from the Newhouse School at Syracuse University

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has made a name for himself in the fashion world
From his tunnel fits before games to walking in the Vogue World fashion show last year
Burrow always has fans wondering what he is going to wear next
Here's everything to know about Kyle Smith
Kyle Smith
a graduate of art history from California State Polytechnic University-Pomona
initially worked part-time for NFL Network
He was later laid off from that job during COVID-19 in 2020
but the league reached out to him toward the end of 2021 about a new job in which he would manage its fashion vertical
He has since been promoted to his fashion editor role
Smith, who recently made Cultured magazine's Cult 100 list for shaping culture in real time
first met Burrow leading up to Paris Fashion Week in 2024
where the QB walked in the Vogue World show
Check out The Enquirer's full 2024 feature on Smith here: Joe Burrow has a fashion stylist, and he's dressing the QB to the 9s this year
a luxury home builder founded in 1967 and operating in 24 states
announced on April 29 that its newest residential development—Clara Vista at Waterridge—is coming to Kyle
It was difficult in the early 2010s to peruse
the internet without seeing this guy's face
His famous yearbook photo from Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron features him rocking an open-mouth smile
donning a red sweater vest over a teal blue shirt in front of a purple background
But his real name is Kyle Craven, a husband to his high school sweetheart, father of two and vice president of his family's business, Craven Construction
Craven's best friend and now business partner on all things memes
first uploaded Craven's photo online in 2012 with some text to match with the character of a bumbling goofball and gave Craven his alliterative alter ego
"Takes driving test / Gets first DUI," the caption read
Craven and Davies were then excited to see someone else's take on the meme show up on the front page of Reddit
it might get popular for a day and then just die off,'" Craven said
but then just kind of came back and came back and came back and just organically exploded over the next couple of months."
After several years largely out of the limelight and focusing on construction, Craven said, brands revived the meme to target ads to millennials, who now have robust purchasing power and fondly remember early memes like his. In 2025, Hyundai used his meme and likeness in a commercial that aired during the NFL championship games
a Kent State construction management graduate
has also done some acting in short clips − for instance
working with Shaquille O'Neal on an ad for The General Insurance
Akron Mayor Shammas Malik said he was familiar with Bad Luck Brian but didn't know until recently that the man behind the meme was local
When he found out Craven was signing to buy Quaker Square from the University of Akron
On a sunny Friday in April, Craven sat down at the Akron location of one of his favorite restaurants, Rockne's, to talk about his life as a meme over a shared plate of a go-to dish of his, bacon cheddar fries
My kids won a couple of tickets or something
The old school Scumbag Steve memes are really funny
I feel like everybody knows a guy like that growing up
and it's really hilarious just reading the text and going
I can relate to that.' But as far as Bad Luck Brian
I think my favorite one that I have seen of my meme was
'Parents get divorced / No one fights over custody.'
We got reached out (to) from an advertising company that wanted to license the photo for a billboard for an orthodontics clinic
why don't we work a deal where you pay for our flights
do some photos and also we can see the billboard at the same time?' And they're like
'I can't believe you want to come to Slovakia.' So
we ended up going and spent a week over there
that marketing company that brought me out there − we're great friends
They do all my marketing for my construction company now
They're going to do Quaker Square marketing for us
And then we eat more.' And they couldn't believe it
'You're more than welcome to come to my house for Thanksgiving.'
(the) offer still stands if you guys want to come to Thanksgiving at my house.' Next thing I know
they booked tickets and they're coming over
They brought some wine from Slovakia and some gifts for the kids
He gets on set (for The General commercial) and beelines right over to me
'I am so glad we're working together on this
I know all about Kyle and Bad Luck Brian and Ian
Somebody has to fill him in.' He was so on top of it
I do get a lot of people that look at me in public

Stowers' 'surreal' slam propels Marlins to riveting walk-off victoryMay 4th
MIAMI -- Turns out the Marlins’ new City Connect 2.0 Retrowave uniforms have a little magic in them
Kyle Stowers crushed a walk-off grand slam in a five-run ninth, as the Marlins shocked the Athletics, 9-6
Miami snapped its season-long six-game skid while debuting its new look paying homage to the “Magic City.”
“We're not going to take these things off,” manager Clayton McCullough joked before his postgame media session
It marked the Marlins’ fourth walk-off victory of the season, good for second most in the Majors, and Stowers’ second game-winning hit of 2025 after being the walk-off hero on Opening Day on March 27
His swing became the sixth walk-off grand slam in franchise history
and the first since Giancarlo Stanton (April 18
“Family was here today: wife and her parents
Always cool to do it in front of people that love and care about me
regardless of whether I'm doing that or not
like ‘We needed it,’ but it was a good time for a win
That's why you play the game is for moments like that
the Marlins were tasked with facing All-Star closer Mason Miller and his triple-digit fastball
entering the game 10-for-10 in save opportunities this season
who broke his bat over his knee in frustration after one of his three strikeouts earlier in the game
But when Connor Norby and Dane Myers followed with strikeouts
Miami’s win probability dipped to a game-low 4.4 percent
Leave it to a pair of rookies -- both filling in for banged-up regulars -- at the bottom of the order to extend the rally and give Miami’s top bats a chance
Starting in place of second baseman Otto Lopez (Grade 2 ankle sprain)
Javier Sanoja doubled for the second time in the game
who started for late scratch Jesús Sánchez (back)
Mervis scored and Sanoja advanced to third on the wild pitch that ended Simon’s plate appearance
Leadoff batter Xavier Edwards then walked to load the bases
and battle anything over the plate,” Edwards said
I don't know if he usually has good control or not
but he didn't really have a bunch of it today
So just swing at a pitch we're supposed to
I was just glad that after my at-bat was over
There's really not a worse feeling than that
So I was just glad to be able to pass it along.”
The baton went to one of the Majors’ early-season breakout stars in Stowers
Stowers ranked eighth in batting average (.320) and 31st in slugging percentage (.500) among 166 qualified hitters
His barrel percentage (17.1%) and expected batting average (.303) placed him in the 91st percentile
The 27-year-old Stowers had already knocked a two-run homer in the third when he stepped up to the plate in the ninth
rocketing a first-pitch fastball on the outside quadrant over the left-center wall
it was the fastest pitch that a Marlin has hit for a home run in the pitch tracking era (since 2008)
Stowers has gone deep four times since Wednesday
which includes the first two multihomer games of his career
His average and OPS are up to .324 and .944
McCullough described Saturday’s win as a callback to the club’s performance before its recent rough stretch
The Majors’ least-experienced team has shown character and resilience far beyond its years
which is the message behind the new “Retrowave” uniforms that blend the organization’s past

just how much better the vibes are when the team wins
and hopefully we can use this as some momentum and keep rattling off some wins.”
After yet another year of failing to make it out of the first round
but it may be a move that benefits the team moving forward
a ton of teams will be knocking on the Bucks' door
Only a handful of teams, if that is the case, could come up with a package to trade for the Greek Freak. With the Bucks' season over, trade rumors will swirl. Eric Nehm, David Aldridge, Eric Koreen, Tony Jones, and Sam Vecenie of The Athletic constructed four different realistic trades for Antetokounmpo
This one trade sees the Bucks deal Antetokounmpo alongside Kyle Kuzma to the Toronto Raptors in a massive package deal
2030 pick swap (Milwaukee gets second choice of Bucks
"Raptors president Masai Ujiri has wanted Antetokounmpo since before he came into the league
the Bucks get a foundational player defensively and a playmaker in the style of Antetokounmpo
get as many picks as the Raptors can give them
but save for getting the Raptors’ lottery pick this year — and if Toronto doesn’t win the lottery
it could be on the table — it is a haul."
The Bucks walk away with a significant return—three first-round draft selections in this scenario
Milwaukee possesses just one of its future first-rounders
Although parting ways with Antetokounmpo would be far from ideal
a move of this magnitude could ultimately benefit a franchise that is currently stuck in no man's land
Getting rid of Kuzma would hurt a little less
His time in Milwaukee was not what many expected
especially during their playoff series against Indiana
Kuzma played some of the worst basketball in his career
and it is clear that he is not the third option the Bucks had hoped for
This trade not only helps the Bucks acquire vital assets but also allows them to acquire some key players who could help them in the meantime

Harrison has yet to appear in an MLB game in 2025
as he opened the regular season in the minors
He southpaw posted a 10.80 ERA and 2.100 WHIP in spring training
the former top prospect went 1-0 with a 3.46 ERA
1.308 WHIP and 13.2 strikeouts per nine innings across six Triple-A starts
Per NBC Sports Bay Area's Alex Pavlovic
the Giants plan to use Harrison out of the bullpen for the time being
Right-handed reliever Lou Trivino was designated for assignment to make room for Harrison on the big league roster
Giants plan is to have Kyle Harrison in their bullpen
Velocity has gotten better and better in recent weeks and he had 38 strikeouts in 26 innings in Triple-A
Also gives them some needed coverage as they head back out on the road
Harrison made seven starts when he got called up for the first time in 2023
8.7 strikeouts per nine innings and a 0.9 WAR
The 23-year-old has never come out of the bullpen in a regular season game in either the majors or minors
His only four relief appearances as a professional came between 2023 and 2025 spring training
That made him the highest-ranked Giants prospect
as well as the highest-ranked left-handed pitcher in the minors
Harrison could make his season debut Monday
when the Giants face off against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field
First pitch for the series opener is scheduled for 7:40 p.m

Now 40 years old — he celebrated his milestone birthday on May 2 — the Richard Childress Racing driver has mellowed
But don’t mistake that for meaning he's not just as passionate about the sport and doesn’t have valid viewpoints on it
He does and fans saw that earlier this year when he worked in The CW booth at Las Vegas
how he broke down the racing action and delivered it during the broadcast in an easy-to-digest manner for the television viewing audience
Kyle Busch talks with the media at Texas Motor Speedway
You’d think that the insight and perspective of the driver
who will undoubtedly go down as one of the best-ever to strap behind the wheel
Au contraire — at least as far as various committees are concerned
And the winner of 63 career Cup races has admitted as much this season on several occasions
He first brought it up at Circuit of the Americas in March when asked about a new Playoff Committee
which was created to discuss ideas about potential changes to the playoff format for the 2026 season
and how members included multiple drivers — both current and past
“Yeah, I guess there's five or six or eight or ten — I don't even know how many committees there are, but nobody calls me to be on any of them,” Busch suggested
I feel real honored with that and look forward to hearing what their changes are.”
when questioned about the feel of the car at the superspeedway
“It's just the cadence of the race isn't very good,” he said
It's really hard to get runs or any sort of separation
especially with the fuel savings and all that sort of stuff
Shorter time on pit road is how you pass guys
So there's definitely an issue in that
I've made my suggestions and in one ear
he was asked about those previous remarks and what would it take for NASCAR to include him in helping shape the sport in the future
“I have no clue,” he said
“I think you're asking the wrong person
Go ask all of those others that are in charge of those committees on why they don't want to have Kyle Busch be a part of it.”
Until that changes and he's included in some fashion
the 40-year-old will have to let his racing do the talking
His next chance to do that is on Sunday at TMS

The Ravens are picking up the fifth-year option for safety Kyle Hamilton
General Manager Eric DeCosta announced the moves Wednesday
one day before the May 1 deadline for 2022 first-round picks
"We are exercising the fifth-year option for Kyle Hamilton
with the goal of working toward a multi-year contract extension," DeCosta said in a statement
"While we will not apply the fifth-year option to Tyler Linderbaum
it is our intention for him to remain a Baltimore Raven long term."
There's no question that the Ravens want to keep their young two-time Pro Bowlers in Baltimore for a long time
as they are two of the best players in the league at their positions
the economics of the fifth-year options influenced Baltimore's decisions
which puts him under contract through the 2026 season
Linderbaum's would have cost $23.4 million since he's lumped in with all offensive linemen
The Lions' Kerby Joseph recently signed the richest deal in NFL history for a safety, which averages $21.25 million per year. Hamilton's $18.6 million would currently be the eight-highest salary cap number at his position in 2026, per OvertheCap.com
Linderbaum's $23.4 million would be far-and-away the highest salary cap figure among centers in 2026
The Chiefs' Creed Humphrey is scheduled to have an $18.1 million hit that season
Humphrey still has the highest average salary per year at $18 million and the Eagles' Cameron Jurgens
who was in Linderbaum's same 2022 draft class
$68 million deal averaging $17 million per year
which could help establish the framework for a Linderbaum extension
Earlier this month, Hamilton and Linderbaum said they're more focused on football than contract extensions
"I haven't had too many talks about it to be honest," Hamilton said
but I'm not in a rush to get it done necessarily."
"I'll let my agent handle that," Linderbaum added
"I'm just focusing on becoming as good of a football player as I can be for this team
[I'm] coming in here every day and putting my best foot forward
Let all the other things take care of itself."
General Manager Eric DeCosta released a statement on the release of kicker Justin Tucker
The Ravens signed an All-American linebacker from Iowa
the younger brother of a 2022 first-round pick
Noteboom spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Rams
Baltimore's draft picks in Rounds 3-7 have all signed their rookie contracts
Ar'Darius Washington returns to Baltimore after finishing last season as a starting safety
The Ravens added a starting cornerback after the departure of Brandon Stephens in free agency
The Ravens have agreed to a reported two-year deal with veteran backup Cooper Rush
Wide receiver Tylan Wallace was dependable on offense and strong on special teams
The Ravens bolstered their offensive line depth by bringing back Ben Cleveland
Five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has reached agreement with Baltimore
The Ravens will have their Pro Bowl fullback paving the way again

there was a lot of survival throughout that race," said Larson
and the balance -- we had to work on (it) quite a bit
I felt like my car -- if I could ever get to the lead
But I just couldn't get by Justin [Allgaier]
He was doing a good job of just running where I needed to be
But thanks to JRM for letting me come run this thing here today
wish Connor was in the car but it means a lot that they thought of me to call up and run this thing."
The race was slowed by 11 cautions and ended in double overtime, but much like the Truck race on Friday
the first part of Stage 3 was fairly clean
The field reached green-flag pit stops with Larson going for the undercut on race leader Allgaier
This came right after the two nearly crashed in a sketchy moment while battling for the lead
Allgaier stayed out a couple laps longer while in heavy traffic, which was all Larson needed to be able to easily leapfrog into the race lead. Allgaier, who had dominated most of the race, needed a caution. He did get one, but it was Allgaier himself involved. While catching a far slower Kris Wright
the two cars came together and Allgaier crashed into the frontstretch wall
Larson took off with his closest competition now out of the race
was not allowed to comfortably cruise to victory.
hitting the tire pack at the inside of Turn 4
This really shook things up as Larson led one group onto pit road while Hill led a few others who chose to stay out
It was now Mayer versus Larson on the front row, but there was little the Haas Factory driver and defending Texas winner could do against the 2021 Cup Series champion. Larson drove off as Nick Sanchez slammed the wall
Gray made it up to the runner-up spot after Mayer slid wide as well

New episodes of season 2 of The Last of Us are premiering on HBO every Sunday night, and Ars' Kyle Orland (who's played the games) and Andrew Cunningham (who hasn't) will be talking about them here after they air
While these recaps don't delve into every single plot point of the episode
there are obviously heavy spoilers contained within
so go watch the episode first if you want to go in fresh
Kyle: We start this episode from the perspective of a band of highly armed FEDRA agents in 2018 Seattle
shooting the shit in a transport that somehow still has usable gasoline
Maybe it's just the political moment we're in
but I was not quite emotionally prepared for these militarized characters in my post-apocalyptic escape show to start casually using "voters" as an ironic signifier for regular people
Andrew: We've spent so little time with FEDRA—the post-collapse remnant of what had once been the US government—since the very opening episodes of the show that you can forget exactly why nearly every other individual and organization in the show's world hates it and wants nothing to do with it
But here's a reminder for us: casual cruelty
Of course as soon as you see and hear Jeffrey Wright
you know he's going to be A Guy (he's an HBO alum from Boardwalk Empire and Westworld
He just as casually betrays and blows up the transport full of jumped-up FEDRA jarheads
which is a clear prestige TV storytelling signifier
Isaac's backstory was only broadly hinted at in the games
so getting to see this big "Who This Character Is" moment in the show was pretty effective
What I found less effective was Ellie playing a very able A-Ha cover when she discovers the abandoned guitar room
In the game it serves as a welcome change of pace from a lot of frenetic action
and a good excuse for an endearing guitar-playing mini-game
Here it felt like it just kind of dragged on
with a lot of awkward dwelling on close-ups of Dina's creepily enamored face
I do appreciate that the show at least made an effort to explain why this 30-year-old guitar was still in pristine condition
I don't instantly buy that the silica gel packets (which Ellie
does not eat) in the guitar case would have lasted for that long
but at least she didn't pull a mossy guitar straight off the wall and start tuning it up
I do also think the show (and the game, I guess, picking up your context clues) got away with picking one of the goofiest songs they possibly could that would still read as "soulful and emotionally resonant" when played solo on acoustic guitar. But I suppose that's always been the power of that particular instrument
Kyle: Not to cut short "Guitar Talk," but the show cuts it off with a creepy scene of Isaac talking about high-end cookware to an initially unseen companion on the floor
way worse than most anything we're exposed to in the games—and these are games that are not exactly squeamish about showing scenes of torture and extreme violence
Felt to me like they're taking advantage of HBO's reputation for graphic content just because they could
But not totally without storytelling utility
if you're setting Isaac up to be a mid-season miniboss on the road to the Dramatic Confrontation with Abby
that you've got to make it especially clear that he is capable of really nasty things
but they were guys that we as viewers are all supposed to hate
Torturing a defenseless man reinforces the perception of him as someone that Ellie and Dina do not want to meet
especially now that they've popped a couple of his guys
Because Ellie and Dina have unwittingly wandered into the middle of a Seattle civil war of sorts
between Isaac and his militarized WLF members and the face-cutting cultists we briefly met in the middle of last episode
And while the WLF types do seem to have the cult outgunned
we are told here that WLF members are slowly defecting to the cult (rather than the other way around)
Kyle: I will say I appreciated the surprisingly cogent history of the "chicken and egg games" beef between the two factions
as discussed between torturer and torture victim
Definitely a memorable bit of world-building
But then we're quickly back to the kind of infected attack scene that now seems practically contractually obligated to happen at least once an episode
I think these kinds of massive setpiece zombie battles would work better as a light seasoning than a thick sauce that just gets dumped on us almost every week
Andrew: People in and from Seattle seem to have a unique gift for kicking up otherwise dormant swarms of infected
but I was more intrigued by the first episode's reveal of more strategic infected that seemed to be retaining more of their human traits than I am by these screaming mindless hordes
I think the tension is also ratcheted up artificially by Ellie's weird escape strategy
which is to lead the two of them through a series of dead ends and cul-de-sacs before finally
And it does finally make the "Dina finds out that Ellie is immune" shoe drop
though Dina doesn't seem ready to think through any of the other implications of that reveal just yet
Andrew: It does explain a couple of things
It does seem like a bit of a narrative shortcut to make Ellie extremely invested in Dina and whether she lives or dies
and given this show I am worried that this zygote is only going to be used to create more trauma for Ellie
rather than giving us a nuanced look at parenting during an apocalypse
But it is sweet to see how enthusiastically and immediately Ellie gets invested
A question for you, while spoiling as little as you can: Are we still mostly just adapting the game at this point? You'd mentioned getting more Isaac backstory (sometimes the show expands on backstories well and sometimes it doesn't)
and some things have happened a bit out of order
But my impression is that we haven't gotten a full departure a la the Nick Offerman episode from last season yet
Kyle: At this point it's kind of like a jazz riff on what happens in the game
some remixed and thrown into entirely different temporal locations
and some fresh new improv thrown in for good measure
I'm definitely not a "the game is canon and you must interpret it literally" type of person
but the loose treatment is giving me a bit of whiplash
is not greeted with nearly as much immediate joy in the games
the moment of joy Ellie and Dina do share here feels transplanted (in tone if nothing else) from an earlier game scene that the show had mostly skipped thus far
The show also spends an inordinate amount of time discussing how pregnancy tests work in the post-apocalypse
which for me pushed past world-building and into overexplaining
I can still tell I'm watching a video game adaptation
because there are stealth kills and because important information is conveyed via messages and logos scrawled in blood on the walls
and doing slightly less minute-to-minute missing of Joel than I did last episode
The episode ends with Ellie and Dina hearing the name of someone who has the same name as someone who knew Abby over a WLF walkie-talkie they nabbed
which gives them their next objective marker for Abby Quest
But they've got to cross an active war zone to get where they're going (though I couldn't tell from that distance whether we're meant to be able to tell exactly who is fighting who at the moment)
Kyle Larson took the lead on the restart of the second overtime and went on to win Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Texas Motor Speedway
The victory is his second of the season in the Xfinity Series
88 for JR Motorsports in place of the injured Connor Zilisch
who suffered a back injury in a last-lap crash a week ago at Talladega Superspeedway
Larson overcame a penalty for an uncontrolled tire on Lap 49 to win
The 208-lap race was slowed 11 times for 62 laps by cautions
Twenty four of the 38 cars were involved in accidents
He couldn’t avoid the slower car of Kris Wright and hit him in the rear
sending Allgaier into the wall and out of the race after leading 99 laps and winning a stage
ET May 24 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on the CW Network
Whether it be because Rob Thomson trusts some of his guys too much
the front office not making the needed moves to the outfield
they now find themselves in an even stranger position with outfielder Johann Rojas
who has played a bit better over the past few weeks
Rojas is never going to impress anybody too much offensively
but he's started to figure it out a bit
USA; Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Johan Rojas (18) Rojas reacts after making a catch to save a run to end the tenth inning against the Houston Astros at Citizens Bank Park
Factor that in with his elite defense, Rojas has started to gain some respect from multiple teammates, including Kyle Schwarber, who said after his incredible catch in the top of the ninth inning against the Arizona Diamondbacks over the weekend that he has a high ceiling
"It was awesome," Schwarber said, per the Philly Burbs
"He’s been doing so many great things for us
… There’s going to be a pretty high ceiling on that guy
It’s fun to see the way that he goes out there and makes those plays
He makes those catches look really easy when they’re really difficult catches."
Those are rather strong words from Schwarber
who knows better than most in the Phillies clubhouse what it takes to compete at the highest level for a very long time
This was also a strong message to the coaching staff and front office
as Rojas has been somebody who has continued to come up in trade rumors over the past few years as the team looks to find a better outfielder
The Chicago Bears added another weapon for Ben Johnson's offense with the selection of Rutgers running back Kyle Monangai with the 233rd overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft
Monangai posted back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons with the Scarlet Knights. He had a career year last season with 256 carries for 1,279 yards and 13 touchdowns. He added 14 receptions for 75 yards and one score. Monangai has zero career fumbles in 670 attempts, per Pro Football Focus
Monangai joins a Bears running back room led by D'Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson
so the Rutgers product will have an opportunity to compete for carries and a roster spot
Here's what some expert draft analysts had to say about Monangai during the pre-draft process and what Bears fans can expect to see:
Dane Brugler, The Athletic"A three-year starter at Rutgers
Monangai was the featured weapon in offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca’s zone-blocking scheme that was built around the run game
Despite being one of the lowest-ranked recruits in Greg Schiano’s 2020 class
Monangai became one of the best running backs in the Big Ten and finished No
2 in school history with 3,221 rushing yards (behind only Ray Rice)
Monangai isn’t going to stand out as the fastest or most powerful back in this class
following his blocks on traps and reaches to motor through gaps
His ball security (zero career fumbles) and overall dependability as a workhorse will be appreciated by NFL coaches
slide and weave through the defense with shifty quickness and run toughness
His competitive profile and promising reps on passing downs should make him an effective utility back in the NFL."
Lance Zierlein, NFL.com"Short but stout two-time team captain who is bundled tightly into a compact
Monangai is quicker than fast and lacks breakaway speed but can change the track of the run at a moment’s notice with unpredictable cuts at sharp angles
His vision is average and his lack of run-lane discipline will irk offensive line coaches
but he creates yardage out of nowhere and has exceptional contact balance to repel would-be tacklers
so teams will need to be comfortable with tabbing Monangai as an early-down backup who can handle a heavier carry load if needed."
"Monangai is hoping to become the second member of his family to reach the NFL—his brother
rushed for over 3,000 yards at Villanova and spent time with the Eagles and Vikings
Monangai is a tone-setter who relishes contact—it’s what drives him
his physical play style also highlights his limitations
He lacks the ability to consistently make defenders miss or outrun them in space
embracing contact and bringing the fight to pass rushers
He is also exceptionally secure with the football
having recorded zero fumbles on 676 career carries
While some teams may not prioritize his power-rushing style
those that do will value him as a depth or rotational back who can help establish a physical culture in their running back room."
The Draft Network"Kyle Monangai is a two-year starter in Rutgers backfield
he was able to turn his talent and potential into production
Monangai offers a volume running back who gets stronger and better with more touches
He is a strong leverage reader and processor
identifying whether the edge is soft or hard and adjusting his run path accordingly
Monangai is great on inside zone and duo run calls
where he reads the DL and LB leveraging to pick the right running lane
He has a plus-level vision to find lane openings before pressing too far outside on stretch zone calls
Monangai runs hard behind his pads with great core and lower-body strength
He packs a punch upon contact downhill with his shoulders squared
Monangai is a forward faller when running with a head of steam
bowling ball frame to bounce off tackles on contact
He possesses electric quick feet to change directions on a dime
Monangai cuts laterally to evade defenders and change run lanes
He strings together cuts in the open field
He is one of the most elusive runners on tape with an innate ability to generate forced missed tackles
He catches the ball well in space and can create yards after the catch
Monangai is a willing participant in pass protection
He doesn’t sustain blocks consistently and struggles to stonewall free runners with downhill momentum
Improving this aspect of his game will ensure third-down snaps at the next level
Rutgers doesn’t factor Monangai in the passing offense
He looks functional at worst in limited touches
but more opportunities are needed to paint a clear picture
Monangai will probably lose snaps on short yardage and red zone situations to a bigger RB at the next level
He went five games straight without a touchdown
Cashing in on red zone opportunities and running hard between the tackles will be a key development in 2024
Monangai projects as a dynamic and productive zone running back at the next level
He has the skill set to be a heavy all-purpose or yards-from-scrimmage RB
Monangai will be a nice target for teams that do not value the position early in the draft
who could feasibly command early-round capital
he carves out his place as a uniquely energized and physical back
Monangai needed a year to calibrate after taking the reins full-time following Pacheco’s departure
the veteran back reached new heights and compiled impressive tape week in and week out — now he might follow in Pacheco’s footsteps as a future NFL starter
Monangai isn’t quite as fast or explosive as Pacheco
But Monangai is extremely dense and well-leveraged
and he brings urgent short-area motion and a relentless mentality
He maximizes that short-area quickness with sharp vision and a creative feel
Monangai has never eclipsed 10 catches in a single season
so his receiving value is relatively unproven at this point
But there are flashes of high-level route-running nuance
and he might be the best pass-blocking RB in the class with his awareness
and physicality.Though Monangai’s ceiling might be a bit lower than some of the top running backs in the class
he still profiles as a solid NFL starter with a particular affinity for inside zone
He also has pass-down security with additional receiving upside."
Kyle Crabbs, 33rd Team"Rutger Scarlet Knights running back Kyle Monangai is a well-rounded runner who does a lot of the little things well
and can win in pass protection with consistency
It all adds up to the right kind of back you’ll want in your stable of players
but his athletic limitations underscore the nature of his position and why the league values it the way it does
Monangai is missing an athletic differentiating trait that could coax a team to instill him as a featured back."

Kyle Richards’s daughter Sophia Umansky is all grown up — and apparently dealing with some major hair loss. She revealed in a TikTok that she’s been taking the weight-loss drug Mounjaro and experiencing concerning side effects
because at the rate that I’ve been losing hair
I’m gonna be bald in about a week,” she said in the video
and I would say like maybe for the past three weeks to a month
I’ve noticed a dramatic hair loss situation.”
blown-out hair looked enviously shiny and thick in the TikTok
but she went on to show clips of the wall and drain of her shower
which were both covered in clumps of dark hair
“It’s a lot worse than it even looks in these videos
because you’re only seeing what comes out in the shower and what comes out before and after the shower,” said the 25-year-old
She then ran her fingers gently through her hair
demonstrating how easily “piles” of hair fall out every day
Like Ozempic, Mounjaro was created to manage type 2 diabetes and triggers weight loss by cutting down on your appetite, but instead of semaglutide, its active ingredient is tirzepatide. While the FDA-approved medication isn’t directly linked to hair loss, quick weight loss can lead to excessive shedding
“I think it’s a direct result of rapid weight loss because of the medication and not eating enough vitamins
explaining that she’s been trying to take more vitamins and incorporate more protein into her diet to combat the issue
Umansky has also gotten her hands on Pura D’or’s Hair Thinning Therapy shampoo and conditioner
and Grüns vitamins to see if they’ll “make a difference.”
it’s no longer shocking to find out that yet another pop-culture figure has boarded the weight-loss-drug train

Sophia Umansky revealed that she’s been taking Mounjaro for around four months
The Eagles opened Rookie Camp on Thursday as the first-year players arrived in Philadelphia
but the Eagles took care of some business first by signing the following four members of the 2025 Draft Class to their four-year rookie contracts: Smael Mondon Jr.
The linebacker led the National Champions with 76 tackles in 2022 en route to winning back-to-back titles
Mondon had 57 tackles in 10 games to go along with three sacks in 2024 for the Bulldogs
native was a five-star recruit out of high school and was a top 30 overall prospect nationally
and linebacker at Paulding County High School
Mondon accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl during the draft process and has been used as an off-ball linebacker
Assistant GM Alec Halaby's scouting report: "Surprised he was there. Multi-year starter on some great Georgia defenses
Really smart kid – they run a complex defense there and he understands it all
He's an analytical person and that fits with us because we ask our linebackers to solve problems on the field and he is someone who can do that
What you see from him in the pass game is that he can match tight ends and he can match running backs
He has that kind of movement skill and looseness and agility and speed and then in the run game he is someone who will come downhill and violently destroy a block
We do a really good job of teaching run destruction here and he's only going to get better with that
He processes the triangle well when he hits it and he is hitting it hard."
The Eagles added depth to their quarterback room
selecting Kyle McCord with the 181st overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft
led the FBS with an ACC-record 4,779 passing yards during his senior season at Syracuse
218-pound quarterback played three seasons at Ohio State before transferring to Syracuse
where he earned second-team All-ACC honors
The selection will be a homecoming for McCord
who attended high school in Philadelphia at St
Assistant GM Alec Halaby's scouting report: "Everyone knows about Kyle McCord if you follow college football. I love what he did at Syracuse in his one season there
You watch that Miami-Syracuse game and he is going head-to-head with Cam Ward (No
1 overall draft pick to Tennessee) and that was a great game
he will find them early and he will throw them open
You see the width of resilience that he went through – leaving Ohio State and then goes and elevates the Syracuse program
The Eagles added another tool for the offensive line
selecting tackle Myles Hinton with the 191st overall pick in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft
where he was an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten Conference in 2024
He was a part of the 2023 National Championship team
where his unit won the Joe Moore Award as the top offensive line unit in college football
323-pound tackle started 20 games at right tackle and 11 at left during his career
he allowed one sack on 256 pass block snaps
4 overall pick by the Broncos in 1983 and was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection as an offensive lineman
played defensive line at Michigan and is currently with the Chargers
Assistant GM Alec Halaby's scouting report: "There is a certain body type that we like at tackle and Myles fits that and for a man that size, he has really good foot and body quickness
I think he can adjust really well and there is a lot that he did in college that I think can translate over to the NFL game
They coached him well at Michigan and he was really effective at what he did
He fits the mold of a lot of things we like in our tackles."
The Eagles selected outside linebacker Antwaun Powell-Ryland with their 10th and final pick
Powell-Ryland has spent the last two seasons at Virginia Tech after transferring from Florida before the 2023 season
258-pounder started all 12 games he played
accumulating 43 total tackles and 16 sacks
Powell-Ryland earned first-team All-ACC and Associated Press All-American third-team honors during his redshirt senior season with the Hokies
native was a four-star prospect out of Indian River High School
where he was selected to play in the Under Armour All-America Game
Assistant GM Alec Halaby's scouting report: "Antwuan can rush. He can rush the passer. There are people that just know how to rush the passer
who know how to have a feel for the junction
that understand timing – when to hit it upfield
when to go down the middle – and he has all that
He didn't get that number of quarterback sacks (25.5 in his two seasons at Virginia Tech) by accident
They came in a lot of one-on-one situations
Really good vision to the quarterback at the end of his rush
He can strike people and he has some ballast in the run game at 260-something pounds
What jumps off the tape when you look at him is that sack production and a guy who can see the quarterback and understands how to rush the passer and who knows how to beat tackles one-on-one
which is a very scarce thing in the league

opens up about the side effects of her weight loss medication
the 25-year-old took to her TikTok to reveal she has been taking Mounjaro for the past four months

the medication slowly emptys food from the stomach

Sophia noted that it was actually a lot "worse." She demonstrated by running her hand through her locks
the Buying Beverly Hills star stated that she didn't think the hair loss was a "direct result of the medication." She suggested it might have been due to the "rapid weight loss" it caused
adding she might not be getting enough "vitamins (and) protein."
who many believe is a double of her mother
asserted she was "putting an effort into" getting balanced nutrition to combat the "dramatic" side effect
She told her fans she has been using OMI hair growth peptides

The longtime 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star admits that it’s "very difficult" to have "the world weighing in on analyzing things" on the show
ANAHEIM -- Manager Ron Washington went up to the mound to get the ball from relief pitcher Brock Burke, who had allowed two runners to get into scoring position in the top of the ninth inning. By the time Washington looked up, Kenley Jansen was already out there
“You saw how bad he wanted it,” Washington said of his closer
We told him if they got two on that he was coming in the game
And he wanted this opportunity again."
Part of Jansen’s eagerness to get on the mound on Saturday night to wrap up the Angels’ 5-2 victory over the Tigers at Angel Stadium was to close the door on the worst outing of his career the previous night
The other part of it was more simple: Jansen just wanted to help his team win
“You just got to go back out there,” Jansen said
you’re going to continue to learn crazy things happen
but for the team as a whole as the 16-year veteran drew a groundout and a lineout for a three-pitch save
ending the Angels’ seven-game losing streak
and pros don't back down,” Washington said
trying to accept what's happened to us and just keep working through it
but we've been in a lot of ballgames and we're still learning how to win
We're going to have to start learning how to close ballgames down at the back end
and that's something we just have to keep doing.”
It was a much-needed win for the Angels. It was a much-needed save for Jansen. But it was also a much-needed win for starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks
who in his previous start gave up seven runs on three hits and five walks in three innings against the Twins
Hendricks had a shutout going into the eighth before allowing his only run of the night -- a solo homer from Spencer Torkelson
Hendricks threw 7 2/3 innings -- his longest outing of the season -- and allowed four hits (two of which came in the eighth)
I felt much better about the ball coming out
a couple of things we changed mechanically,” Hendricks said before sharing credit with catcher Travis d’Arnaud
and it’s just a matter of execution and not tipping
so I felt like I cleaned a few things up and executed better.”
earned his first victory since signing with the Angels in the offseason
coming to these ballgames,” said Hendricks
Part of Hendricks’ success on Saturday was his sinker
which drew five of his 10 swings-and-misses
He credits d’Arnaud and the rest of the catchers for forcing him to go to his sinker early and often
since it isn’t a pitch that Hendricks is likely to throw himself
it also helps when your offense scores four runs in the sixth inning to give you room for error
getting the five-run lead and making the plays behind me,” Hendricks said
The Angels’ veterans pushed them to victory on Saturday
And there was Luis Rengifo’s two-RBI single in the sixth inning
and Saturday marked both a step in the right direction and a teachable moment
“I just hope they learn from it,” Jansen said
“I don’t care how good you are or whatever
