adding punt returner to the resume against Lake Dallas He tallied four carries for 67 yards and two touchdowns and caught three passes for 53 yards and one score alongside a big special-teams play Harper dropped back to receive a Lake Dallas pooch punt early in the second quarter and returned it 87 yards for a touchdown that helped Aubrey extend its lead to 17-0 with the first of four TDs in TD and connected with Brown again for the half’s final score Temple finished 11 of 13 for 216 yards and three TDs and Brown caught six passes for 158 yards and two of those scores The Chaps’ defense was perhaps even more impressive than their offense in limiting a highly productive Lake Dallas attack The Falcons went into the contest averaging 39.7 points per game on the year including 41 per game in their first three district contests Aubrey shut the Falcons out in the first half and allowed just one touchdown to their starters on the opening drive of the third quarter before a a great representation of the type of play in this loop Frisco Panther Creek came into this Friday night matchup with a 6-1 mark and 2-1 in district play while Lake Dallas entered with a 5-1 mark and 1-1 in district play so this game had a ton of playoff positioning on the line This showdown was a tale of two halves as Frisco Panther Creek absolutely dominated early in the game as the Panthers as QB Adams would score from a yard out to make it 44-44 but the Lake Dallas two-point try would fail to send the game to a third overtime both teams would fail to convert sending the game to a fourth overtime Panther Creek would convert on their dueling two point try in the fourth overtime as QB Fry connected with Trickett to make it 46-44 Lake Dallas’ attempt would be incomplete and Panther Creek would walk out of Lake Dallas with an exhausting 46-44 four overtime victory The loss was devastating for Lake Dallas as this started a four game losing streak to end the season and the Falcons would He’s a highly regarded college prospect in the Class of 2025 with scholarship offers from Georgia, Louisville and UTEP posted to his account on X (formerly known as Twitter) Jones has quickly made an impression with the Falcons as well and looks poised to help anchor their secondary this fall “He’s only played varsity football for one year He played a little bit in middle school but decided he was a basketball guy and all of a sudden he’s got a bunch of offers Although Lake Dallas loses a sizable chunk of talent at the skill positions it has a wealth of returning players on both the offensive and defensive lines which Young says are the strengths of the team Seniors Nathan Giaimo and Haden Sander and junior Liam Brownfield are back to lead the offensive line after all three saw extensive playing time last season Giaimo anchors the group after earning first-team all-district honors in 2023 while Sander has garnered some interest from collegiate programs as well Defensive end is another deep position for the Falcons with seniors Terrance Livingston Curran Hill and Noah Wright each having impressed within the program Sophomore defensive tackle K’Adrian Redmond has also generated plenty of buzz given his impressive athleticism at 6-foot-3 and nearly 300 pounds He already holds scholarship offers from several FBS programs in TCU The Falcons’ wealth of talent in the trenches certainly looks poised to be a key part of their chances of success this fall “That group just busts their tails; they’re leaders on this team,” Young said “Not only out here doing stuff [at practice] but we’ve been in the weight room with these guys since the season ended and they’ve been basically pulling two-a-days They would come in there early and work out on their own then we’d go through our normal offseason as well Coach: Jason Young (21-12 in three seasons as Lake Dallas head coach) Last playoff berth: 2023 (area round qualifier) Lake Dallas has not had much uncertainty at quarterback in recent years between Cade Bortnem and current Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby before him Bortnem has graduated, however, after leading the way for the Falcons’ offense each of the last two seasons. He was particularly prolific in 2023, earning All-Area Most Valuable Player honors after throwing for 2,494 yards 26 touchdowns and eight interceptions alongside running for 386 yards and 10 more scores last year Filling Bortnem’s shoes will be no small task but a front-runner has emerged in the competition for the starting quarterback job Young said Adams has adjusted well to learning Lake Dallas’ offensive system and has “looked really good” in the offseason How well the Falcons ultimately replace Bortnem at quarterback will be critical to their ceiling this fall Lake Dallas faces a schedule that features plenty of challenges including five teams that made the playoffs last year in District 7-4A DI play alone but its meeting with Frisco Panther Creek could be one of the biggest It’s the first contest after the Falcons’ bye week and the start of a critical four-game stretch that will define their season After taking on the district favorite Panthers Lake Dallas then travels to face preseason No hosts a formidable Sulphur Springs team the week after and takes on No Starting that tough stretch of games strong would certainly benefit the Falcons as would taking a game from one of the likely contenders for the district title It all makes for what looks to be one of Lake Dallas’ most intriguing games of the season High school football season is almost here By Hojun ChoiReporter state wildlife officials said they think the sightings near Lewisville Lake and in Plano were of the same animal Breaking NewsGet the latest breaking news from North Texas and beyond GoogleFacebookBy signing up you agree to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy Mountain lions are not common in the Dallas-Fort Worth area an urban wildlife biologist for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department The agency started formally tracking mountain lion sightings in the state in the early 1990s “Mountain lions were historically found in north and central Texas but they have been extirpated from the area and they’re not really found here anymore,” Richter said a mountain lion was spotted on security cameras at a RV Park in Lake Dallas a resident in western Frisco reported a sighting after a mountain lion was caught on his security camera roaming through his backyard State wildlife officials have also confirmed a third mountain lion sighting on Nov. 8 in Plano The pair of sightings confirmed by Texas wildlife officials in early November were the first for Denton County but they were not the first for the Dallas-Fort Worth area In late 2020, a mountain lion was spotted in Rowlett and parts of Collin County. The animal was likely killed by hunters in Hunt County While state wildlife officials think the animal seen in recent videos is just passing through the area one of the people who reported the now-confirmed sightings told The Dallas Morning News he heard reports of a mountain lion in the area two years ago Both the confirmed sightings in Denton County were at about 4 a.m. according to state officials and the people who reported the sightings In the case of sightings, people should gather the photo or video evidence they have and contact the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
