Supreme has teamed up with Spike Lee’s famed production company 40 Acres and a Mule for a capsule collection honoring two of Lee’s classic films
Supreme unveiled the new apparel line on Instagram with a post honoring the legendary director-writer’s 40-year film legacy

Lee named his production after the unfulfilled promise made to newly freed slaves after the Civil War
40 Acres and a Mule has produced countless documentaries
iconic commercials (including his ’80s Air Jordan ads)
including Public Enemy’s 1989 classic “Fight The Power.”
The Supreme collection marks a full-circle moment for Lee
who turned his 40 Acres and a Mule production brand into a fashion line in 1990
He launched “Spike’s Joint” retail stores in Fort Greene
West Hollywood and a kiosk in Los Angeles’ Baldwin Hills mall
These spots sold film-inspired gear like varsity jackets
made famous by Lee’s Oscar-nominated Malcolm X film starring Denzel Washington
Supreme is looking to reintroduce the fashion aspect of 40 Acres to a new generation while paying tribute to Lee’s significance in film
Lee has boldly explored a complex landscape of social and political issues shaping American life–chiefly through the lens of Black histories
“Perhaps more than any other filmmaker
Lee has captured the richness of Black experiences with unflinching narrative and visual style.”
The Supreme x 40 Acres collection drops online and in stores on April 24

there’s one bar that many are still puzzled by
Thankfully we—and Spike Lee—have an answer for you
when Lamar was drumming up to finally perform “NLU,” he uttered the phrase: “it’s a cultural divide
others were confused by the mention of 40 acres and mule
But as mostly all Black people already know
the phrase of “40 acres and a mule” comes from the Special Field Orders given by Union General William T
The order would have alotted for 400,000 acres of Confederate land to be broken up to give formerly enslaved freed Black families 40 acres a piece so that they could farm and build a livelihood of their own
including Georgia’s Sea Islands and the mainland 30 miles in from the coast.”
after President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in 1865
Andrew Jackson—rescinded the order and gave the Confederate back the land
That broken promise the government made served as yet another way to further disenfranchise Black folks and hinder their desire for upward mobility
when director Spike Lee decided to create his ow production company in 1979
he opted for naming it 40 Acres And A Mule to pay homage to the complicated history
Jackson—who also appeared alongside Lamar during his Super Bowl performance—was one of Lee’s frequent collaborators and had roles in several of his films like “Jungle Fever,” “Do the Right Thing” and “Chi-raq.” At the big game on Sunday
Jackson’s role as the performance narrator was similar to the ones he played in Lee’s films
“I Want To Thank My Brother Kendrick For The 40 Acres And A Mule Shoutout Which Has Been The Name Of My Production Company Since NYU Grad Film School,” he began
“And I Want To Send A Special Shoutout To My Morehouse Brother Samuel Jackson Who Started This Super Bowl Halftime Extravaganza As Uncle Sam And You Might’ve Seen Him As Dolmedes In CHI-RAQ.”
“The Term 40 Acres And A Mule Was A Proposal For Reparations To Former Enslaved African-Americans In The Aftermath Of The Civil War
The Proposal Was Intended To Provide Land And Resources To Provide Land And Resources To Help Free People Achieve Economic Independence
Jackson also took to social media to express his gratitude
writing in a comment: “I was Honored to be asked by Kendrick & his team to participate in
It filled me up when I watched rehearsal & realized I was about to be in yet another historic game changing moment!
My cup overflows with the opportunities God has presented to for me to be up close & personally touch & use my voice & presence as an agent of change
It’s an honor & obligation I embrace fully
Nothing is better than repping us as the beacon of truth!!”
Fla — Lee County is working on its first-ever wildfire prevention plan to address the fire risk caused by downed trees from Hurricane Ian
Fox 4’s Austin Schargorodski went to Lehigh Acres to find out how this plan could help one of the county’s most vulnerable areas.Watch Austin Schargorodski's report here..
Wildfires aren’t new to Lehigh Acres - just this march
Austin was there after a series of fires broke out near neighborhoods
“It was kind of scary that it was so close to the house,” said a neighbor at the time
Lehigh Acres Fire & Rescue Spokesperson Katie Heck explained how the area’s conditions make it a wildfire hotspot
“We still have between 80,000 to 90,000 vacant lots
and many of them are overgrown with brush and trees and that sort of thing,” said Heck
Heck said Hurricane Ian only made things worse
“We did see a lot of downed debris that then died and dried out and is still sitting there
so when something sparks a fire on any of these lots
we see it fuel very quickly and spread fast,” Heck explained
Lee County wants to develop its first-ever countywide wildfire prevention plan
The county says the plan will work with all 21 fire departments to examine risks
“If it addresses clearing some of that land out and helping to mitigate it in addition to what Forestry does out here - any of that helps,” said Heck
the plan will take 12 to 18 months to develop
and will be discussed at a commissioners meeting in January
“I know it will be a planning process and be a little ways out
but it’s a good time to start talking in the community about brush fire season coming,” said Heck
Heck said they just brought in a bunch of new hires to join the ranks as the district expands to meet the growing risk
Mitigation is also routine for the Florida Forestry Service
Fox 4 met with them in Cape Coral after Hurricane Ian knocked down thousands of trees
“For the next couple of years we can start getting some mitigation done in these areas to reduce the amount of extreme fires we could have,” said Fire Mitigation Specialist Michael Harris

— Nearly every home in Lehigh Acres gets water from the Sandstone Aquifer
The Florida Government Utility Authority works to make sure your well can access the aquifer
It's a valuable resource," said FGUA System Manager Scott Towler
the increasing demand for water with new developments will overwork the aquifer and could cause its levels to drop which means little to no drinking water
Lee County said the South Florida Water Management District "identified potential overuse of the Sandstone Aquifer."
Watch Lehigh Acres Community Correspondent Ella Rhoades report below:
"Growth occurring in Lee County particularly Lehigh Acres
and there's occasional fluctuation in the water levels," Towler explained
Where can Lehigh and East Lee County find a dependable water source
Lee County approved a $1.8 million study to find an alternative
dependable source to keep up with Lehigh's growth
The county said the study will take them a year-and-a-half
Lehigh Acres Municipal Services Improvement District Director Dave Lindsay is happy the county's looking at the issue before it's too late
"You can't keep putting more straws in the ground for every house that gets built that could be problematic if we don't do something now," he said
Towler added how much water people use also plays a part
"You have an increased number of people with home wells and irrigation wells
you're using people to self police themselves in terms of water usage and that strictly is what it really comes down to," Towler explained
FGUA said a potential solution is to dig deeper
Lee Board of County Commissioners approved several transportation infrastructure projects Oct
including a 4.2-mile sidewalk project along Bell Boulevard
The nearly $3.2 million project along Bell Boulevard will go from State Road 82 north to Sunrise Boulevard and will also include roadway reconstruction
Work is expected to begin in November and be complete next fall
The board also voted to adopt an alignment study to expand Sunshine Boulevard to four lanes from State Road 82 to 23rd Street SW in Lehigh Acres to connect with plans to extend Alico Road to State Road 82
The widening along Sunshine is the third phase of the project
with construction scheduled to begin in early 2026
It approved a $1.5 million project to repave segments of more than 40 roadways in eastern Lehigh Acres
A new Lee County elections branch office has opened in Lehigh Acres
The new branch office will also serve as an Early Voting site
“This additional location will enable our office to better serve the voters of Lehigh Acres
It’s a necessary expansion to meet the area’s growing population.”
