Top shortstop prospect George Lombard Jr. was promoted to Double-A by the New York Yankees on Sunday
bringing the 19-year-old a step closer to the major leagues after a scorching start to the season
the Yankees' first-round draft pick in 2023 and the son of former big leaguer George Lombard
hit .329/.496/.488 with one home run and 11 stolen bases in 24 games at High-A Hudson Valley
He impressed the Yankees in spring training
and lined himself up to be fast-tracked with success
The Yankees obliged after Lombard showed a more mature approach
walking in more than 20% of his plate appearances in Hudson Valley and striking out at 19.8%
Between his swing decisions and batted-ball data
Lombard impressed evaluators and looked primed for a promotion despite his age
Lombard, who turns 20 in June, will be the third-youngest player in Double-A, behind Texas shortstop Sebastian Walcott -- who is increasingly seen as a top-five prospect in the game -- and Los Angeles Angels outfielder Nelson Rada
including outfielders Max Clark and Walker Jenkins
Arjun Nimmala and Aidan Miller and catcher Kyle Teel
New York's incumbent shortstop, Anthony Volpe
is hitting .233/.326/.442 with five home runs and ranks among the top 10 at the position in wins above replacement
Yankees promote top prospect Lombard to Double-A SomersetMay 5th
NEW YORK -- George Lombard Jr. is on the move
Ranked as the Yankees' No. 1 prospect by MLB Pipeline
the 19-year-old infielder has been promoted from High-A Hudson Valley to Double-A Somerset
as first reported Sunday by ESPN's Jeff Passan
A source confirmed the move regarding Lombard
who had a .329/.495/.488 slash line in 24 games for the Renegades
stealing 11 bases (in 13 attempts) while working 23 walks against 22 strikeouts
"Great head on his shoulders; loves the game
smart heady player," Yankees manager Aaron Boone said on Monday
you've seen him slowly turning into a man and [a] big physical presence
''The ease with which he can make plays and moves in the field
doing a good job so far of controlling the strike zone -- George is someone we're super excited about
He certainly earned that next step up to Somerset
I'm excited for him and the start he's off to
Most of Lombard's defensive action has come at shortstop
though he has appeared once at second base and once at third base this season
third base and shortstop in Major League camp with the Yankees this spring
when he batted .231 (6-for-26) with two homers and four RBIs in 14 games
MLB Pipeline has forecast Lombard's big league ETA for 2027
but his early-season promotion to Double-A could indicate a willingness to fast-track him toward the Bronx
The son of former Major League outfielder and current Tigers bench coach George Lombard Sr.
Lombard was the Yankees' first-round pick in the 2023 MLB Draft (26th overall) out of Gulliver Prep high school in Miami
Lombard's Double-A debut could come on Tuesday
when the Patriots visit the Akron Rubberducks (the Cleveland Guardians' Double-A affiliate) at 6:35 p.m
The New York Yankees are promoting their top prospect
ESPN’s Jeff Passan was the first to report the news
13 RBIs and 11 stolen bases in 24 games for High-A Hudson Valley this season
Lombard caught the attention of the highest-ranking executives this past spring as the youngest player in the Yankees camp
The promotion is quite the endorsement for Lombard
The average pitcher in the Eastern League is five years older than Lombard
and the average hitter is nearly four years older
He’ll be the youngest player in the league when he debuts for Somerset and one of just four Double A players who are 20 years old or younger
has played fewer than 60 games in High A and did not play well last season
But the Yankees are fast-tracking the shortstop to a much tougher league — a sign they believe he can handle the leap in competition
Yankees captain Aaron Judge spoke highly of Lombard back in early March
and sometimes you can maybe do a little too much,” Judge said
“But he has stepped right in and has kind of owned it all
is the Detroit Tigers’ bench coach and played six years in the majors.)
It’s still highly unlikely Lombard will make his MLB debut in 2025
it’s not impossible to think he could debut in 2026

Pre-trial release was denied a Chicago woman accused of leading police on a chase from Bloomingdale to Lombard after an alleged retail theft Friday by her passenger
The chase also caused a three-way crash that sent one person to the hospital
Judge Michael Burton granted state’s motion to detain Autumn Provine
She was charged with one felony count of fleeing and eluding police and 19 misdemeanor and petty traffic offenses
was charged with a felony for retail theft
He was released on the condition he doesn’t enter any Best Buy store
according to the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office
Bloomingdale police responded to a report of a theft in progress at Best Buy
left the store and got into a Lexus RX300 driven by Provine
After seeing the Lexus on Army Trail Road near Gladstone Drive
Bloomingdale police tried to pull the car over
but the driver instead sped up to about 55 mph in a 25 mph zone
Police were able to deflate a tire using a spike strip
but Provine kept driving east on Army Trail Road
They located the Lexus and attempted another traffic stop without success
Lombard police said Provine was involved in a three-vehicle crash at Main Street and Roosevelt Road
Provine and Cerda left the Lexus and went inside the Jewel-Osco
where police found them in bathrooms and took them into custody

Schmidt underwent an MRI that came back clearn
I felt OK and I felt like I had my strength,” Volpe said
“I’ve never really had anything else pop or dislocate or anything like that
An MRI of Chisholm’s oblique revealed three high-grade tears in the area
though fortunately the volume of tears does not appear to have significantly altered Chisholm’s timetable for return as the second baseman still expects to return in that four-to-six week time frame
Even if the Yankees weren’t already suffering from a dearth of infield depth
losing Volpe would be a serious blow given that he’s putting up such encouraging numbers on offense
After Volpe’s first two years saw him post well-below offensive numbers buoyed by Gold Glove-caliber defense at shortstop
the 24-year-old is actually hitting an impressive .233/.326/.442 with ten doubles
That’s good for a 121 wRC+ so far this year
and Volpe’s excellent batted ball data suggests he may actually be producing less than his underlying performance would suggest he should be
It’s an exciting potential breakout performance for the Yanks
and the fans in the Bronx are surely waiting with bated breath for their potential budding star at shortstop to return to the lineup
the club does not expect Lombard to help in the majors this year but nonetheless he’s viewed by some evaluators as the club’s only “untouchable” prospect
with Kuty suggesting that it would require a “Godfather” offer to convince the Yankees to part with the young infielder
Lombard was the club’s first-rounder back in 2023 and is so far hitting an excellent .329/.496/.488 at the High-A level this year
with a promotion to Double-A at some point in the near future potentially in the cards
refusing to part with Lombard could make it difficult for the Yankees to land a top-flight starter this summer in what figures to be a very competitive market for pitching talent
Lombard’s father was also a “can’t miss” prospect
So much of it is the ability and willingness to make the necessary adjustments
That’s why “can’t miss” was in quotations
Regardless Lombard J.R is less likely to be moved
If Alcantara or Gallen are going to be traded
it’s possible he could be part of a package
it wouldn’t be for either of those pitchers
The Yankees will want a cost-controlled position player
Gallen is a ’25 rental and Sandy hasn’t performed well
and Gallen is on a downward trend this season
at this stage I have more faith in Lombard’s potential offense than Volpe’s
I’ve been saying it for a while but this is Volpe – glove-first
Him and Jazz are not the type of players which should receive an extension
except Anthony Volpe is there golden boy I won’t be given all the rope in the world for many years to come to prove how much of a genius cash Man thinks he is
The Yankees are going to go after the beat pitcher available to help them this year
They know they have a small window to make this happen
Should have emptied the farm system for Skubal last year
Volpe is a perennial 3+ WAR player when you account for his plus defense
low-cost asset to the Yankees even though he may never blossom into an All-Star
I don’t care what Boone nor Cashman says about him
but so far volpe has been way worse than a league-average bat
Volpe is currently at 119 OPS+ which is objectively 19% better than league average
but you know he’s due for one of his 0 for 100 streaks to knock his OPS plus way down below average
advanced defensive metrics suck and is therefore overvalued in WAR
Theres a reason Andrelton Simmons had an 8 WAR season
which was 0.1 WAR shy of the Altuve and Judge that year (who won the MVP while the other shouldve won) but was definitely no where near their value and got bounced from the league by age 32
Pointing to WAR for a defensive first player is a misguided attempt to evaluate a player
If he can maintain a 119 OPS throughout the year then the convo can change around him
Its hard to imagine that its gonna stick when he was struggling catching up to 94mph down the plate though
metrics suck in small sample sizes but to outright dimiss OAA or DRS is kind of silly
believe 2017 Simmons and 2017 Judge were pretty much equal since they were 0.1 WAR apart
It does not take into account defensive shifts
“all i had to do was move 3 feet closer and the algorithm liked me more”
Standing closer would make more balls hit towards you count as “unreachable” and therefore wont count against you
Playing deeper would allow tougher hit balls to be in your “range” to where you would then be docked points
Im not as well versed with OAA and how its calculated but every advanced defensive metric ive ever did a deep dive into ended up being shaky at best
If your talking Judge’s two mvp seasons then make sure you get his WAR right
2022 Judge had a war of 10.6 with 62 HRs and in 2024 he had a WAR of 10.8
Simmons was not close to Judge and you definitely are Yankee hater
If you don’t like Judge then at least state the facts correctly
mlb.com/news/statcast-introduces-outs-above-averag…
There’s a linked recent breakdown of OAA by Tom Tango
Nick Martinez is pitching better than both Alcantara and Gallen and it looks like the Reds are managing his pitch count to position him for a trade
I can see the Yankees going after Martinez who is one a one year pact
Most highly-touted propects are busts and don’t live up to the PR/media hype
Bleacher: Jones has never put the bat on the ball enough
He’s got talent but his is a way more boom or bust profile
Lombard with his dad’s coaching and physical gifts is way more likely to have a significant career
I’m not ordering the monument yet but he seems likely to play MLB ball
@jerseyjohn There’s no doubt with his power but he needs to continue to work on his plate discipline
I’m hoping Warren gets traded at this point while his value is somewhat good so he doesn’t turn into the next Chance Adams
send us Michael King back and you can have Warren
Never listen to players before they receive scans
Unsure it it’s a gamer attitude or disillusion but I’m not concerned and a trio of high grade tears is quite the gap for Jazz
Players want to play and most of us thought we were invincible in our 20s
Can’t be any worse than Chisholm and Reyes
Jorbit Vivas could take Chisolm’s job
I remember all these untouchables for Yankees every offseason and deadline
please keep making them prospects untouchable Cashman
Brian Cashman is notorious for hanging onto prospects well past their expiration date
and then giving them up for nothing…… here’s looking at you
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who noticed that
imo fear of losing a trade has kept cashman from pulling the trigger on win-win trades (soto a notable exception but that trade may be ordered by hal)
when that is what prevent your leader from improving the team
and another reason why Cashman needs to go
but it’s net worth speaking about since it will never happen
He wouldn’t look bad in the back of the rotation
Will Warren is the next overrated young pitcher to end up in Mexico or the KBO
With the name “Yoendrys Gomez”
was there ever a doubt that he’d wind up with the Dodgers
Id make the pitching prospects untouchable
All should be developed and pitch for the Yankees
Volpe “inpressive” 233,,!!!ufff
There was a time when a 230 hitter was someone you would cut
The best thing Cashman could do is package Spencer Jones and GLJ for an impactful infielder or starter
You would have a $400mil payroll with no depth at all
Last thing the team needs is another wrong side of 30 inflated contract with nothing to back them up
anything to get him off the Yankees and get a real GM who knows what he’s doing
hopefully the team declaring lombard untouchable is just posturing for leverage
no prospect should be untouchable while the judge window shrinks
they always do the opposite of what needs to be done
Costanza would make for a better GM than Cashman
Any astute fan who watched Lombard’s ABs this spring & in MiLB ABs can see that this kid
the “can’t-miss” label is overused (just as GOAT & Superstar became trite terms through overuse)
but Lombard clearly has that “something special” in his swing
and his overall makeup that earmarks him for MLB success
There’s No Way I’d trade Lombard for Alcantara & his 8.31 ERA this year
since he’s given up As Many Hits as Innings Pitched for the 1st time in His Career
That strikes me as a warning sign that he’s either injured or ready for a major regression
And that trend (in giving up more hits relative to his IP) was evident in his 2022 to 2023 numbers
and his ERA jumped by almost 2 runs a game..Those aren’t good trends for future success.
Have Yankee fans noted that JP Sears has an ERA under 3 and a WHIP of 1.0
I’d still like to know why so many people thought it was a great idea to let Gleyber Torres walk to make room for Jazz at second base
We have our SS of the future in Lombard Jr
PLEASE leave him at short and stop playing guys out of position
We might be able to at least get something for Volpe
but will never get even a Single A player for Peraza
This season is basically over in my opinion with a pitiful 19-15 record
Go out and get a REAL second and third baseman
We are NOT a player or two away from winning a World Series
which is all that should be important to Yankee fans
I’d love to see us be sellers at the trade deadline
it was a mistake to let Gleyber Torres get away and keep absolute scrubs on the team like Chrisolm
thinking they could ever match Gleyber’s production at the plate

looks like he could be a superstar in the future
and that has been on display early this season
After reaching High Single-A last year, it has taken just 24 games during this campaign for the Yankees to promote him to Double-A Somerset, per Jeff Passan of ESPN
Lombard has slashed .329/.495/.488 with a homer
13 RBI and just 22 strikeouts compared to 23 walks
and in the midst of only his second full one
New York has decided to aggressively move him through their pipeline
The 2023 first-round pick, who was selected No. 26 overall, comes from a baseball family. His dad, George Lombard, played in the MLB for six years before he got into coaching, where he currently serves as the bench coach of the Detroit Tigers
has impressed at times during the early stages of his career
but he's taken his game to the next level in 2025
"More confident, stands straighter," a talent evaluator said, per Brendan Kuty of The Athletic (subscription required)
"Looks like he has a plan for when he goes up there
There's a presence to him — you already know he was a high pick
It doesn't seem like the plan is for the Yankees to get him to the Majors this year
He's only played 147 professional games to this point
So taking the next step up in competition will be Lombard's first test to see if he'll be on a rapid promotion plan again or if he needs more time on the farm
and there's a chance he could be the next star infielder of this franchise if he continues developing at the rate he already has

1 Yankees prospect received the call to Somerset this evening
ahead of slugging 2022 first-rounder Spencer Jones
Despite posting a .231/.286/.462 slash line in the spring and catching the attention of both manager Aaron Boone and captain Aaron Judge
Lombard began the season back in High-A with the Hudson Valley Renegades
at the same level he ended the 2024 campaign
he only had 29 games under his belt with Hudson Valley
so it was far from controversial for the Yankees to want to see how the changes might have improved his output at the same level
Lombard’s 2025 stint with the Renegades proved to be short-lived
ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported a few minutes ago that the Yankees were promoting him to Double-A Somerset
The New York Yankees are promoting shortstop George Lombard Jr.
11 stolen bases and a 23-to-22 walk-to-strikeout ratio at High-A
The move should come as no surprise to anyone who has been watching the Yankees farm system in recent years
While the Yankees have a reputation for bringing their prospects along slowly
they have been more aggressive promoting prospects once they have shown conclusively that they have conquered the level
A .329/.496/.488 slash line with more walks than strikeouts certainly counts as conquering High-A
not only have his numbers popped off the page
but rival scouts have been raving about everything to his poise on the field to his increased power after an offseason working with a professional training staff
the jump from High-A to Double-A alone is considered one of the most difficult to make in pro ball — even more so than the leap from Double-A to Triple-A
and there’s plenty of reason for excitement about the acclaimed infielder — if not for 2025
College Baseball, MLB Draft, Prospects – Baseball America
According to a report from ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Yankees have made the call to promote shortstop George Lombard Jr. to Double-A Somerset
the son of the former big leaguer of the same name
has been one of the better hitters in the minor leagues this season
the Florida prep product was hitting .329/.495/.488 with a home run and more walks (23) than strikeouts (22)
will now get to test his mettle against best the upper levels have to offer
Track Record: Lombard is the son of former big leaguer and current Tigers bench coach of the same name
The younger Lombard was one of the youngest players in the 2023 draft class and was selected by the Yankees 26th overall out of Miami’s Gulliver Prep
Lombard signed for $3.3 million and made his pro debut in the Florida Complex League
He split his first full season between both Class A affiliates
including a turn in the South Atlantic League finals with Hudson Valley
Scouting Report: The back of Lombard’s baseball card doesn’t jump off the page
but scouts outside the organization were heartened by what they saw on the field
the 19-year-old posted mature at-bats and showed strong leadership traits on the field and in the dugout
His swing got off-kilter early in the season
thanks to a stride that had gotten too long and caused his bat path to get out of whack
Those problems led to a high number of swings and misses
Lombard has a flat path and enough strength to predict a player capable of shooting line drives from gap to gap
He shows hints of power that should become more frequent as he adds strength to his still-growing frame and loft to his swing
Lombard is a sound defender at shortstop with sure hands
an above-average throwing arm and average range
but he has a strong internal clock and intangibles forged from years around the game
tools and intangibles still give him plenty of runway toward his ceiling as an above-average big league shortstop with a well-rounded set of skills
Scouting Grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 50 | Run: 55 | Field: 55 | Arm: 55

the New York Yankees provided some good news and optimism for the future
The 26th pick in the 2023 MLB draft, Lombard opened the 2025 campaign on an absolute tear. Per Passan, the 19-year-old hit .329/.496/.488 with one home run, 13 RBI and 11 stolen bases.
he's already shown that he has the makings of a future star
Lombard is the son of former MLB outfielder and Detroit Tigers bench coach George Lombard. His younger brother, Jacob, is one of the top prospects in the 2026 high school class.
The Yankees fell to 19-15 with Sunday's loss to the Rays but remain in first place in the AL East. The team will open a three-game set against the San Diego Padres (22-11) on Monday.
the organization promoted top prospect George Lombard Jr
On Sunday night, just hours after the New York Yankees dropped another series in disappointing fashion (this time to the Tampa Bay Rays)
The 2023 first-round pick is the No. 1 prospect in the Yankees' farm system and gained momentum after his impressive spring training
He logged his first full season of professional ball last year
appearing in 110 total games between Single-A Tampa (81) and High-A Hudson Valley (29)
His offense was lagging and some began to ask questions as to why the Yankees drafted yet another shortstop when they had other glaring needs
But the offseason seemingly changed everything
Lombard is hitting .329/.496/.488 with 22 runs scored
13 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 24 games to begin 2025
He's seen a drastic improvement in his contact and walk rates
He's made just one error in 190 innings at shortstop while also playing a couple of games at second and third base
Though he's still far off from his MLB debut
one could say this promotion is the first dose of genuine pressure for Anthony Volpe
the Yankees willingly passed on an historic shortstop free agent class and opted for a stopgap option in Isiah Kiner-Falefa
It killed their window of contention at the time as they cleared the path for an impressive prospect with no major league experience
Volpe is very much a talented player, but he's not Corey Seager. Dansby Swanson or Carlos Correa. Instead of the Yankees figuring out a way to get creative by adding an all-world talent while working Volpe into the mix, they anointed a 20-year-old as their shortstop of the future before he even reached Triple-A
The Yankees have given him the runway and leeway to make mistakes and go through his growing pains
He's never been benched for performance issues
He's never been given a breather in the midst of a slump
some fans are growing frustrated with his progress
While he's won a Gold Glove and is certainly a good defender
he doesn't feel like an elite option in that department
Some also might say he looks improved on the offensive end to start 2025
but he's still struggling to make contact and his strikeouts remain a major concern
short spurts while his agonizing struggles prolong for weeks
We'll see how Year 3 goes for Volpe when all is said and done
If he can find some consistency on offense and avoid making late-game defensive gaffes (he's already made two this year to cost the team)
then he could put himself in a favorable position to truly break out for his remainder of time under team control
If not? Well, if Lombard Jr. starts to light up Double-A and forces the Yankees' hand to bump him to Triple-A by the end of the season
then the pressure could start to take hold for Volpe
who has yet to experience a shred of it when it comes to job security

The Yankees drafted Lombard in the first round of the 2023 MLB Draft. The son of former MLB player and current coach George Lombard
the young shortstop has skyrocketed the prospect rankings
Here is MLB.com's scouting report on the soon-to-be 20-year-old:
"Not only does Lombard feature the potential for solid or better tools across the board
he has the high baseball IQ to make the most of them
He had surprising issues making contact against in-zone fastballs last year
but tightened that hole up as he gained more experience
He has more bat speed and strength than most players his age
which already gives him plus raw power that he'll tap into more often as he learns to lift balls in the air more frequently
"Lombard looks to make things happen on the bases with his solid speed and savvy
His instincts are even more apparent at shortstop
where he has smooth actions and covers plenty of ground to both sides
His quick hands and strong arm add to his defensive profile
and he also looked comfortable at second base last year -- though there's no doubt he'll stay at short."

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. — It wasn’t too long ago that the Hudson Valley Renegades featured a bright, young, and immensely talented shortstop ticketed for stardom with the squad’s parent club: the New York Yankees
and that player is now a mainstay in the Yanks lineup
The High-A affiliate for the Bronx Bombers is currently led by a player with a very similar profile, 19-year-old George Lombard Jr
Lombard Jr. was a first-round pick in 2023 and has soared up prospect ranking boards, including MLB.com, which currently has the son of a former major league player and current Detroit Tigers bench coach
The slick-fielding, bilingual (his mother is of Cuban descent) Lombard Jr. may soon be on a collision course with Anthony Volpe
that ex-Renegade shortstop who popped 15 home runs in 213 at bats in ‘21
for the coveted shortstop position in New York
It may be premature to envision a competition there
but that enviable “problem” may also become moot thanks to Lombard Jr.’s versatility
“I’ve played shortstop my whole life; I love playing shortstop
but I pride myself on being a good baseball player,” Lombard Jr
but I am confident that if I had to go play outfield tomorrow
can also play other infield positions – having already seen time at second and third this year
(but) you never know with this game,” said Renegades manager James Cooper
While there may be some discussion regarding his future position
“got after it in the weight room,” is eliminating all questioning regarding his performance at the plate
“He’s hitting the ball really well; he’s making great decisions.”
The strength and know-how have translated into strong numbers early on
Lombard Jr.'s exit velocity has clocked in at over 110 mph
20 walks to 18 strikeouts and a .956 OPS entering Monday
It amounts to a great deal of optimism from both Yankees fans
and those who witness his prowess each day
“In terms of his potential at the plate – it’s really staggering,” said Joe Vasile
“What I have been so impressed with is his natural power to right field and to right-centerfield
I think in Yankee Stadium that’s the kind of thing that could make him(a) 25-30 home run per year guy.”
While the youngster continues to garner accolades
including receiving a huge compliment from Aaron Judge during spring training
and especially enjoys performers including J
But it’s his maturity that makes Lombard Jr.
During a recent interview with USA TODAY Sports
mentioned multiple times that he is “staying where my feet are and staying present.” Not an easy task for someone so young and talented
and for a player with such lofty expectations
“He never looks like he’s out of control on the field,” said Vasile
“He never looks like he’s overly emotional; just kind of cool
And he’s very much the same off the field too.”
that ability to be laser focused on the task at hand is a direct reflection on the tutelage he was provided by his parents
“I give a lot of that credit to my dad and my mom too,” said Lombard Jr
“She probably doesn’t get as much credit as she deserves – probably never will
She has just been such a staple in my life.”
played 144 MLB games from 1998-2006 with the Atlanta Braves
Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Washington Nationals before beginning his coaching career
serving as the Los Angeles Dodgers' first-base coach from 2016-2020 and Detroit's bench coach since 2021
The younger Lombard's ability to excel on the field
and expertly handle the attention - all at such a young age
has impressed just about everyone he’s come in contact with this season – including his teammates
“It’s unbelievable,” said Renegades infielder Jose Colmenares
The Renegades season began a few short weeks ago
there soon may be calls to promote him to Double-A Somerset
says a callup to Somerset this season would be “great,” the eventual goal is to play at what legendary sports talk show host Art Rust Jr
“the big ball orchard in the South Bronx.”
but if the opportunity does present itself
knows it will be memorable for numerous reasons
including the famous “Roll Call” chant initiated by the “Bleacher Creatures”
but from what I’ve heard it’s something that you feel deep down and it sticks with you
I couldn’t tell you how it’s going to feel
but I can tell you that I would be pumped for it and really excited to get there one day.”

and the catcher tagged him on the lower back just before he could slip his left hand over the plate
seemingly trying to plead his case that the catcher had been blocking his path to home plate
and soon he accepted the decision and walked back to play shortstop
The moment appeared to be an example of what a rival executive had said about the top New York Yankees’ prospect not long before
and he’s playing with more of an edge — in a good way,” the executive said
Other rival evaluators heaped similar praise on the 19-year-old Lombard
the Yankees’ top prospect who has had a hot start at High-A Hudson Valley and could be in the major-league starting infield by next season
“Looks like he has a plan for when he goes up there
There’s a presence to him — you already know he was a high pick
“He’s not going to be (at High A) for long,” another said

11 steals and a .939 OPS through his first 22 games
The performance has come after he turned heads in major-league spring training with impressive exit velocities and poise
But it would likely be asking too much for Lombard to help in the majors this season
according to several Yankees officials and outside evaluators polled by The Athletic
That’s despite the Yankees needing a righty-hitting complement to Oswaldo Cabrera at third base
One Yankees official pointed to his age and relative inexperience (145 minor-league games) and said it would probably be “unfair” to expect him to contribute to a potential World Series contender so soon
The Yankees drafted him 26th in 2023 out of Gulliver Preparatory School in Pinecrest
is the Detroit Tigers’ bench coach and played six years in the majors
The Yankees would need a “Godfather” offer if a team wants to trade for him at the deadline
One rival evaluator said he believes Lombard is the Yankees’ only untouchable prospect
Outfielder Jasson Domínguez and Lombard each appeared mostly off-limits last year
said he’s felt more comfortable this season at High A than he did after making a cameo there late last season
Part of his increased pop at the plate has come from getting into the gym
that’s for sure,” Lombard told The Athletic early Wednesday morning
“But I think a lot of it comes with the more experience I get offensively
Lombard’s best memories of his first major-league spring training were the times he spent working defensively with Anthony Volpe
and the conversations he had with Aaron Judge
He said he spoke with Stanton about moving quickly through the minor leagues with the Miami Marlins and “dealing with failure.” He added that Stanton told him he didn’t have his everyday routine in the majors figured out until he was a veteran
done that for a long time,” Lombard said of Stanton
Got to the league at a young age and had some really good years
He’s a guy that you can kind of ask about anything and he’ll have a good answer for you
His mentality is as good as anyone in the game
said it was clear that Lombard spent his childhood around big-league clubhouses from his poise
He added that he’s a “lead-by-example and a vocal” leader
“When you’re drafted as early as he’s drafted,” Cooper said
“some guys already give you that kind of respect
But he’s a guy who’s gone out and earned it.”
Cooper added that the plan for Lombard was to still give him some reps at third base and second base
“There are lessons that the baseball player can learn and see how the field rotates from short to second
from second to third and things of that nature,” he said
But we think there are lessons he can learn at third and second that can also make him a better shortstop.”
Lombard posted just a .693 OPS in 81 games at Low-A Tampa last year before getting promoted to High A
but that was likely because he was young and needed time to adjust from playing in the complex league
you can tell maybe he did some extra lower body workouts this past offseason,” the manager said
When you look at how minor-league baseball has changed over the years
where you had that short-season level where guys would go before Low A
There’s not really a buffer to get you ready
Low A is a little bit tougher now than what it used to be
and I think he’s had a chance to catch up to it

Lombard displaying all-around game in spring campMarch 3rd
TAMPA, Fla. -- It was about an hour before Aaron Judge crossed the white lines for his first Grapefruit League game of the spring on Saturday afternoon
and the Yankees’ captain was shagging a few extra fly balls on a practice diamond
just beyond the right-field seats at George M
Judge’s attention was drawn to third base, where Yankees prospect George Lombard Jr. was fluidly scooping up grounders
firing pellets to Anthony Volpe and Jazz Chisholm Jr
Lombard is the youngest player in big league camp
but Judge sensed the kid already seems to belong
He was hitting every single guy in the chest
Smooth hands; Anthony Volpe is one of the best shortstops I’ve ever seen
and you put [Lombard] right next to him at third base
it’s pretty cool to see that on the left side of the infield.”
Lombard soon made his presence felt on the other side of the ball
crushing a third-inning home run in the Bombers’ 9-3 win over the Astros
Lombard tagged a 414-foot drive that struck the left-field scoreboard and came off the bat at 108.4 mph
“That was a no-doubter,” manager Aaron Boone said
physical kid continuing to develop into his body
[He has] unbelievable makeup and work ethic; just a really talented athlete
He’s an exciting player with an exciting future.”
This is the first full big league camp for Lombard
who was the Yankees’ first-round selection (26th overall) in the 2023 MLB Draft out of Gulliver Preparatory School in Pinecrest
Drafted as a shortstop, Lombard got into a few games with the big league club last spring (and hit his first pro homer)
He spent most of his 2024 season with Single-A Tampa
where he slashed .232/.344/.348 (72-for-310) with 17 doubles
Lombard also played 29 games with High-A Hudson Valley
It’s a level he’ll likely see again when camp breaks
learning what I need to prepare my body to play every single day,” Lombard said
“It’s just getting those experiences under your belt for the first full year
Once you’ve had that and you’ve learned from that
I can move on and just be more prepared for this year
You kind of know what it’s going to be like now
Another summer of long bus rides and greasy bag meals are on deck
but while he’s in the big league clubhouse
Lombard is trying to make the most of his opportunity
He recently shared lengthy breakfasts with Paul Goldschmidt and Cody Bellinger
picking the brains of both veterans about their hitting approaches and preparations
Lombard has also been watching Judge closely
“It’s just been great to have a wealth of knowledge around me that I can learn from
I’ve been trying to take advantage of it as much as I can
just being a sponge to absorb everything that I see around me.”

Volpe considered day-to-day with shoulder injury; No
1 prospect Lombard promoted to Double-A; Jazz
Schmidt injury updates; Loáisiga progressing in rehab
New York Daily News | Gary Phillips: There was a terrifying moment from Saturday’s game against the Rays, Anthony Volpe injuring his left shoulder on an attempted diving stop in the eighth inning and remaining on the ground in pain for over a minute. However, it appears he and the Yankees dodged a bullet
with X-ray and MRI imaging coming back clean
Volpe said he heard a pop in his shoulder when he landed awkwardly on his outstretched arm and sat out of Sunday’s loss as a precaution with some lingering pain still in the joint
He is being considered as day-to-day and even planned to get in some light hitting work at the Stadium following the midday game
Baseball America | Josh Norris: Volpe’s wasn’t the only shortstop news we learned from the Yankees on Sunday
The organization is promoting top prospect George Lombard Jr
to Double-A Somerset following a strong start to the season that sees him slashing .329/.495/.488 with a home run
a 184 wRC+ and more walks than strikeouts in 111 plate appearances across 24 games at High-A
The son of former MLB outfielder and current Tigers bench coach George Lombard Sr.
was the Yankees’ first round in 2023 and is now the organization’s No
1 overall prospect according to MLB Pipeline
breaking into the top-100 overall at the start of the year
and a new batting stance in spring training and is considered by some as the Yankees’ sole untouchable prospect
MLB Trade Rumors | Nick Deeds: There are two more injury updates we can provide alongside the Volpe news
Clarke Schmidt is confident he can take the ball to start on Tuesday against the Padres after he was scratched from his scheduled Saturday start against the Rays after experiencing soreness in his left side
MRI imaging came back clean with no further setbacks being reported
Then came confirmation of news we already feared as we learned the results of Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s MRI tests
The images revealed three high grade tears in the right oblique muscle
so despite the second baseman’s assurances he feels fine
it reinforces the four-to-six week recovery timetable initially reported
Yahoo! Sports | Kristie Ackert: The bullpen is close to getting an important reinforcement back with Jonathan Loáisiga completing his third rehab appearance for the Tampa Tarpons
giving up a run on two hits while striking out seven and walking none
with high velocity being something the big league bullpen could desperately use
$5 million deal to return to the Yankees after missing most of the 2024 season to an elbow injury and subsequent internal brace surgical procedure

A Lombard man who authorities said led police on a high-speed chase Friday before crashing into a vehicle occupied by three teenage girls was ordered held in jail Sunday
faces two counts of aggravated fleeing and eluding a police officer along with more than a dozen misdemeanor and petty traffic offenses
including reckless driving and driving with a revoked license
Authorities said the chase began at about 11:49 p.m
Friday when Villa Park police officers attempted a traffic stop on Galvez for speeding near Route 83 and Riverside Drive
driving through a red light and reaching speeds above 104 mph while southbound on Route 83 near Butterfield Road
The chase ended when Galvez drove around a parked Oak Brook squad car
ran a red light at Route 83 and 31st Street and crashing into a vehicle carrying three teenage girls
Prosecutors said Galvez was out on bond related drug and aggravated fleeing and eluding charges at the time of his arrest Saturday
but then crashed his car into an occupied vehicle with enough force to deploy that vehicle's air bags

Galvez's next court appearance is scheduled for May 27
Wheaton has joined a growing list of suburban towns enacting a municipal 1% percent sales tax on groceries to replace a state-imposed tax set to be repealed at the start of next year
JB Pritzker last August signed into law a measure eliminating the tax on grocery items
but also granting municipalities the authority to implement their own
“It's nice for the governor to say he's doing away with the tax,” Mayor Phil Suess said
the estimated loss of revenue from the elimination of the tax would cost the city anywhere from roughly $1.6 million to $2.2 million
The city council unanimously passed a local grocery tax ordinance developed from a template prepared by the Illinois Municipal League
The ordinance “essentially maintains the status quo,” Suess said
Westmont also has approved a municipal grocery tax to take effect Jan
trustees are scheduled to vote on a proposed grocery tax ordinance on second reading at their April 17 meeting
The village’s finance and administration committee has recommended that the board approve it
If the village did not implement a grocery tax, Lombard would lose approximately $1 million to $1.3 million in annual revenue, potentially leading to budget cuts and reduced services, according to an FAQ
As a community that lacks home-rule powers
Lombard is “kind of limited in options in terms of recouping any of the lost revenue from that,” said Trustee Anthony Puccio
who will be sworn in as village president next month and ran unopposed in this month’s election
“So I think based on that and our inability to take some of the other creative approaches that some of the home-rule communities have … I will be supporting this,” Puccio said last week
Current Village President Keith Giagnorio said he hates taxes “as much as anybody else.”
and it will affect our budget if it goes away,” he added
The Illinois Department of Revenue will administer and collect the municipal grocery sales tax on behalf of municipalities that enact it
“ensuring a streamlined process for retailers,” the village’s FAQ states
Municipalities must pass an ordinance and submit it to the state by Oct
the revenue source now brings in approximately $1 million a year
Finance Director Allen Altic told the village board in February
“Citizens will not experience a difference in taxes with their grocery purchases when this transition occurs,” Altic said in a statement
“This mechanism simply authorizes municipalities to continue a tax that was already previously being collected.”

Europe needs a new partnership with Washington, French Minister of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty Éric Lombard said Wednesday, just hours after the European Union hit US tech giants Apple and Meta with fines under the bloc’s digital regulations
“I’m calling today for a new partnership between Europe and the US for growth
for sovereignty and security,” Lombard said at Semafor’s World Economy Summit
adding that such a partnership could bring more trade and investment for both sides
Lombard said that Europe was pursuing a “genuine free trade agreement” with the US after the Trump administration imposed tariffs on imports from the EU
The bloc has responded with its own duties on US goods
but has so far held back from targeting America’s more lucrative services imports
we deeply regret the American decision to increase customs duties on imports,” Lombard told Semafor contributor Hadley Gamble
Lombard said the EU wants a deal as soon as possible
“We are ready to [make a] deal anytime,” he said
The EU fined Apple and Meta €500 million ($568 million) and €200 million ($227 million)
Both companies were hit with bigger EU antitrust fines last year
the latest in a series of penalties targeting Silicon Valley
Taxing Big Tech is one potential retaliation method for the EU to consider if trade talks with the Trump administration fail
European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen said earlier this month
The boundaryless pools of money that defined finance in the last 20 years are retreating
and capital is becoming a national resource to be protected
Public and private markets seem set to converge: Where they meet — and which firms stake out territory — could determine finance’s winners over the next decade

FENNVILLE — Fennville Public Schools is turning to a long-time district employee as its next superintendent
The FPS Board of Education held an interview with current Fennville High School Principal and Interim Superintendent Albert Lombard for the permanent superintendent role on Monday
Lombard has been serving as interim superintendent since the district separated from Doug Greer in January
just over 18 months after Greer took over as superintendent
Lombard will shed the interim tag and take on the role full-time
More: Fennville Public Schools looking internally first for new superintendent
More: Fennville Schools reaches 'mutual separation' with Superintendent Doug Greer
Lombard has spent his entire career at FPS
including seven years teaching at Fennville Middle School
a decade as principal at Fennville Elementary and three years in his current role as FHS principal
which he will continue to hold through the end of the current school year
Monday’s interview lasted a little over an hour
with board members asking Lombard questions ranging from his relationship with Fennville
why he’s interested in the position and more
“This isn’t about me and what I want to achieve
what we can do for Fennville,” Lombard said during his interview
I’m just going to serve right where I’m at and take care of what I can do the best I can in the role that I’m given.”
Lombard said he loves his role as high school principal
stand in the gap and repair some of those broken relationships” in the district
He said one of his first priorities as superintendent will be building the administration team
which includes filling the open role of middle school principal; supporting the special education director and high school assistant principal
both in their first year; and backfilling his role as FHS principal
His vision for the district includes combatting what he called “perception problems” around the district
“The number one thing that's really driven me to want to stay in Fennville and speak Fennville’s story outside of here is the perception problems,” he said
there’s still perception problems of ‘other schools do better
other places have this or that.’ That just really drives me nuts
in a creative way so people understand what we’re about
move us forward and start making some decisions that might set us apart a little bit.”
When asked why he didn’t apply for the superintendent job during the last opening
having just started his role as high school principal
it was not right for the high school staff that had to go through multiple transitions.”
a motion was made to hire Lombard as superintendent
with Board Vice President Ross Thiele as the lone dissenting vote
A subsequent motion to authorize board leadership to negotiate a contract passed 7-0
several board members shared their thoughts on hiring Lombard
Secretary Toby Hutchins said Monday’s interview was “reassurance” that Lombard was a good fit for the role
there’s just that reassurance that this is someone who’s spent their entire career here
We can’t find that anywhere else,” he said
there are so many boxes that get checked.”

Board President Manny Sanchez said he echoes those comments
adding that hiring Lombard is not a “hire of just because,” but “because this candidate
Trustee Angie Pena-Smith said she appreciated Lombard’s vulnerability and willingness to admit areas where he needs to grow and ask questions

No injuries were reported in a fire that caused significant damage to a Lombard house Saturday
and estimated losses were pegged at more than $150,000
Lombard firefighters were called shortly after noon on Saturday to the 500 block of South Brewster Avenue for a report of a house on fire
with visible flames coming from the exterior of the chimney
Fire department crews began arriving at 12:11 p.m
and found heavy fire along the exterior of the chimney
Firefighters quickly used multiple hose lines
including one directed at the large exterior fire and two more advanced to the second floor
While interior crews worked to extinguish flames that had spread into the attic
firefighters on the outside used ladders to access the roof and cut ventilation openings to release smoke and heat
Additional fire companies searched the home and confirmed that all occupants and pets were safely out of the structure
Crews placed tarps throughout the interior to help protect belongings from smoke and water damage
The fire was brought under control at 12:37 p.m
The Lombard Fire Investigation Unit is investigating the cause of the blaze
Lombard personnel received support from the Elmhurst and Villa Park fire departments
as well as the Glenside and York Center fire protection districts
Lombard police provided traffic and crowd control
George Lombard Jr. turned heads at Spring Training with the Yankees thanks to his bulked-up frame
looking much stronger than he did during his first pro season last year
He struggled at times to consistently impact the baseball during the 2024 season
but the Yankees still promoted him from Single-A to High-A
Those struggles continued until the postseason came around
as Lombard would catch fire to help the Hudson Valley Renegades reach the South Atlantic League Championship
The faith the Yankees placed in George Lombard Jr
to handle the challenge of a new level has paid off
with the 19-year-old getting off to a blazing-hot start with a .500 OBP and 180 wRC+ through 21 games
His latest performance was a two-hit outing where he reached base in three of his four trips to the plate
making excellent swing decisions and showing off a quick yet compact swing that scouts have raved about since March
A first-round pick for the Yankees back in 2023
was selected out of high school as one of the youngest draft-eligible players who signed that season
The organization was aware that Lombard would need multiple seasons at the very least to climb through the system and reach the Major Leagues
but the talent he possessed was worth waiting for
His first season as a pro was one full of challenges for the teenage shortstop
dealing with an injury alongside struggling to produce the eye-popping stats some of his fellow 2023 first-rounders had
What gave the Yankees comfort in promoting Lombard Jr
was that his damage rates and swing decisions graded out as above-average
and his makeup could allow him to make the adjustments needed to turn a strong process into excellent results
Following a busy offseason full of improvements and changes
the lanky 18-year-old shortstop with a swing that had serious holes had transformed into a physical specimen that had a swing scouts immediately fell head over heels for in Spring Training
His progress has culminated in an excellent start to his season with the Hudson Valley Renegades
one where he’s reached base in 50% of his plate appearances while hitting .309
The game power hasn’t come around yet
but his .147 ISO is much improved from last season
and the weather Hudson Valley has had to endure early in their schedule has limited the flight path of flyballs in the first month of the year
ALSO READ: Yankees slugger is doing unprecedented things at the plate
has a simple swing but can generate so much force with it as a result of the added strength
allowing him to do tons of damage on contact
The Yankees are hoping that skill can materialize into more home runs
as if we see the game power truly come around
He’s got a patient approach to go with his excellent swing
as Lombard has more walks than strikeouts through his first month of the 2025 season
The strikeout rate and Swinging Strike% are also improved from last season
and he’s remained both an aggressive and effective runner on the basepaths despite the added muscle
He is fourth among High-A hitters in total walks (22) and has the third-highest OBP among qualified hitters
being the youngest hitter in the top 10 at that level
Lombard’s youth fuels a lot of the hype here
but not just because of what he can become
but because of what he already is as a 19-year-old who won’t turn 20 for another month
he’s the definition of a hard worker
and has been praised internally for the maturity he’s displayed at such a young age
A quiet yet highly-respected person in any clubhouse
has been around baseball his whole life as his father
played at the professional level and has remained an MLB coach
even being named as the first base coach for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic
The personality is eerily similar to the likes of Aaron Judge and Derek Jeter
and that combination of talent and character matters
Shortstops are considered the captain of the infield
it’s a leadership position that comes with pressure and defensive expectations
The challenges of playing such a demanding position have caused most to move off the position or sacrifice their offensive output
is looking to be both a productive defender and an excellent hitter
Anthony Volpe could end up moving him to third base
but the Yankees will continue developing him as a shortstop since it gives them the most positional flexibility
He’s not just a fun prospect that you keep an eye on; this is a prospect whose talent rivals recent standouts such as Anthony Volpe and Jasson Dominguez
What the Yankees decide to do with George Lombard Jr
but if he continues to be a threat at the plate and develop his power
the excellent speed and defense will push for a swift promotion to Double-A with the Somerset Patriots
meaning he will reach that level a full year before he’s able to even legally purchase alcohol in the United States

The Trump administration’s recent wave of policy decisions, from introducing the highest global trade tariffs in a century to dismantling climate regulations
As global markets absorb the impact of Trump’s ‘Liberation Day’ announcement
imposing at least 10% tariffs on US imports
with much harsher duties on some 60 nations
a new high-stakes showdown is emerging: America’s retreat from climate action
Trump 2.0 has set his sights on dismantling key environmental regulations
raising concerns about the US’s role in the fight against climate change
the newly appointed head of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced sweeping changes to existing Federal policies to fight climate change
including the scaling back or elimination of 31 environmental rules
The aim: to reclaim a portion of the USD 20 billion in funding allocated during the Biden administration for clean energy and transportation through the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund.
Your information will be used according to our Privacy Statement
“Today is the greatest day of deregulation our nation has seen,” he said
“We are driving a dagger straight into the heart of the climate change religion to drive down the cost of living for American families
The move came after the US announced plans to withdraw from the Paris Agreement on Climate Change – for the second time
after controversially pulling out of the Accord during Trump’s first term citing ‘economic concerns.’2 In a November 2024 interview
but people sometimes can lose important organs or lose the legs and survive,” he said
“We don’t want a crippled Paris Agreement.”3 This is a valid concern given Washington historically provides more than 20% of the body’s USD 100 billion operational budget
renewables like wind and solar energy have grown exponentially
and clean energy investments have nearly doubled compared to fossil fuels
which is emerging as a leader in renewable energy
counteracting its substantial greenhouse gas emissions
despite still relying heavily on coal to meet its growing energy demands
China has made significant strides in expanding its clean energy infrastructure and manufacturing capabilities
investing USD 818 billion in renewables in 2024
Trump’s new energy strategy centres on achieving energy independence
He has consistently positioned fracking as the cornerstone of his Energy Dominance Agenda and directed his administration to increase fossil fuel production
and pump new life into the most carbon-intensive coal sector.6 Critics argue the move would significantly hinder progress in the fight against climate change
particularly as coal still supplies over a third of global energy production and is responsible for up to 40% of global CO₂ emissions
according to the International Energy Agency (IEA).7

America’s withdrawal from the Paris Agreement and reduction in funding for green initiatives may be hampering the international cooperation needed to tackle the climate crisis at scale
but the policy decisions won’t reverse the economic drivers which are already reshaping global sustainability efforts
The dynamics are now shifting from policy-led progress to economics-led
driven by environmental necessity and economic opportunity
Over three quarters of new renewable energy capacity added in 2024 was cheaper than fossil fuels
often undercutting fossil fuels due to technological advances and improved efficiency
According to a report by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA)
over three quarters of new renewable energy capacity added in 2024 was cheaper than fossil fuels.8 The economic advantage encourages continued investment in clean energy infrastructure.
The growing energy needs of technologies such as AI
are driving demand for reliable and sustainable power sources
further incentivising the shift towards renewables
Innovation is at the forefront of advancing sustainability efforts globally through substantial investments, policy commitment, and technological advancements. The growing energy needs of technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI)
The IEA forecasts electricity consumption for AI data centres will more than double by 2030
while AI places significant demands on the world’s energy systems
it could also assist with new technologies to offset some of those demands
such as driverless cars or detecting threats to infrastructure.9
Many corporations are transitioning to renewable energy not only to meet sustainability goals but to align with evolving consumer expectations and enhance brand reputation
Those leading in decarbonisation efforts are poised to capitalise on emerging opportunities
recognising the need for continued innovation towards more profitable and scalable sustainable technologies
is projected to grow steadily over the next decade.10 Fossil fuels (comprising coal
and oil) accounted for approximately 56% of global power generation in 2024
with renewable energy sources (including wind
and solar) supplying a record 32% of global electricity
according to a report by energy think tank Ember
renewables and nuclear energy are expected to account for most of the global electricity supply
with fossil fuels forecast to supply just 31%.11
Investors recognise the long-term value and resilience in environmentally conscious investments
Government subsidies have long been a key driver in bringing down the cost of renewable energy technologies
helping them compete with the heavily subsidised fossil fuel industry
renewable energy is still viewed as environmentally beneficial and economically advantageous
and this is driving continued investments into clean energy
While increased tariffs may pose challenges to the renewable energy supply chain in the short-term given many components originate in Asia
investors recognise the long-term value and resilience in environmentally conscious investments
While it remains the world’s biggest carbon emitter
China is also the world’s biggest producer of renewable energy
holding a dominant position across clean technologies
China is making substantial progress in the green energy transition due to strategic policymaking
aggressive funding and innovation-driven research
accounting for 32% of the world’s total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in 2024,12 it is also the world’s biggest producer of renewable energy
holding a dominant position across clean technologies.13
Despite high levies from the Trump administration
China’s strategic electrification efforts are not slowing
China is rapidly transforming into the world’s first electrostate
where electricity looks set to become the dominant energy carrier across all sectors
This comes as Beijing accelerates its AI ambitions
putting more pressure on already high demand for electricity
China gained worldwide attention with the emergence of DeepSeek
highlighting its growing influence in the AI space and the strategic importance placed on AI development in the country
While the growing energy needs from AI present a challenge
Investment is accelerating as more and more companies turn to solar
wind and other clean energy solutions to power data centres sustainably
And China is doing everything it can to reinforce its position as a global leader in the transition to sustainable energy
The transition to a more sustainable economy persists
The Trump administration’s policy changes
particularly regarding tariff hikes and the environment
have set the stage for a highly charged COP30 in the Amazon city of Belém later this year
and will undoubtedly influence dynamics at the annual United Nations climate summit
but they have not derailed the global transition to a low-carbon economy
environmental and efficiency incentives.
The driving forces are no longer policy-led
instead economic pragmatism is keeping sustainability on track:
Trump has shifted the narrative around the climate transition
Policy environments will be different going forward
pace and milestones of the transition will evolve
But we believe the end destination continues to be a net-zero economy – as the only model that is viable over the long term
and that ultimately benefits from the stronger economic fundamentals
