A developer has released design plans for a 15-acre parcel of vacant land at the intersection of Routes 83 and 53 in Long Grove
The land includes property already targeted for a QuikTrip gas station at the intersection
managing principal at Highland Park-based GTZ Properties
said he has the property under contract and plans to fill the 13 acres that does not include the QuikTrip with retail and restaurants
The Long Grove village board has already spent two meetings discussing the QuikTrip proposal
It has yet to reach a decision and expects to vote at an upcoming meeting
Goltz said GTZ will present more comprehensive plans about the 13 acres at that meeting
which would be an anchor on the entire 15-acre property
But he also emphasized there is much more to the project
“The narrative on this site had been a little lost with the focus on the gas only,” he said
Goltz said the uses on the 13 acres will not conflict with the neighboring Sunset Grove shopping center at Route 83 and Aptakisic Road
are several full-service breakfast restaurants and other food and retail users
He said the project will bear some resemblance to the redevelopment of the Beeson’s Nursery property by the Mariano’s at the northeast corner of Waukegan and Half Day roads in Bannockburn
“This property has been blighted for quite a while and has so much opportunity to bring in a lot of different businesses and amenities to the community,” he said
The developer also touted the project’s potential to create jobs and generate sales tax revenue for the village
as well as motor fuel taxes and additional property taxes from the increased value
Goltz has been involved in projects in such suburbs as Buffalo Grove

Four suspects part of a larger crew allegedly burglarized a house in Long Grove
before fleeing from responding officers Wednesday
The North Regional Major Crimes Task Force (NORTAF) was surveilling a Range Rover around 3:30 p.m
according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli
The Range Cover contained three suspected residential burglars
Covelli said the driver was identified as David C
and the two passengers were identified as Haral S
The vehicle entered Lake County and stopped at a residence in the 4200 block of Hilltop Road in Long Grove
exited the vehicle and committed a residential burglary
They broke in through a sliding glass door
Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Dino Katris said the suspects stole approximately $4,000 in cash
NORTAF investigators witnessed the burglary and requested assistance from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office
prompting deputies and detectives to respond
Covelli said the two offenders exited the home and ran back to the Range Rover and the three suspects fled in the car
Canter-Rocha and Navarrete-Caballero were carrying a duffle bag when they fled the home
A NORTAF investigator successfully deployed a tire deflation device on the Mercedes-Benz as the first sheriff’s detective arrived on the scene
Ospina-Lozano was taken into custody by a sheriff’s detective and NORTAF investigators
Traffic backed up and NORTAF investigators were able to stop the Range Rover
All three occupants fled on foot but were soon apprehended by NORTAF investigators and sheriff’s deputies
All four suspects were transported to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division where the investigation continued
Katris said Ospina-Lozano told police he felt bad for the victims while mentioning the burglary
The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved one count of residential burglary
Covelli said the four suspects are believed to be part of a larger burglary crew targeting homes within the Asian community
Lake County Sheriff John Idleburg praised the collaborative effort and said this was a “great example” of what can be accomplished when law enforcement agencies work together
“NORTAF has done an incredible job conducting long-term investigations into burglary crews that have been plaguing the suburbs
I’m grateful for the collaboration between NORTAF and our Criminal Investigations Division,” Idleburg said
if you see something suspicious or believe something is off
it’s always best to report it and let law enforcement investigate,” Idleburg said
The investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are possible
Ospina-Lozano and Gomez-Galindo appeared in First Appearance Court on Thursday morning and the state’s attorney’s office filed petitions to detain them
arguing they pose a danger to the community and are willful flight risks
A judge ordered them held in the Lake County Jail until detention hearings could be conducted
Navarrete-Caballero and Ospina-Lozano were scheduled to appear for detention hearings on Thursday afternoon
Canter-Rocha and Gomez-Galindo are set to appear for detention hearings on Tuesday afternoon

2024The historic Long Grove covered bridge hit has been again
and it has been hit dozens of times since it reopened in 2020
(WLS) -- The "Robert Parker Coffin Bridge" in the north suburbs has been hit again
The bridge was formerly known as "Long Grove Covered Bridge"
Surveillance video showed a small truck carrying a stacked load hit the top of the bridge
ABC7 has previously reported that the bridge has been hit dozens of times in the last few years

Stephanie and Bryan Epstein were just hoping to add a third child to their young family
the Long Grove couple welcomed a rare set of spontaneous triplets — three boys born without the help of fertility treatments
The odds of Stephanie’s particular type of pregnancy are about one in 80,000
The triplets were delivered safely by a team of specialists from Advocate Children’s Hospital in Park Ridge — the same health system that saved the Epsteins’ first son
The family’s journey started in 2021 when Asher was born with meconium aspiration syndrome
The condition happens when babies inhale a mix of amniotic fluid and their first stool into the lungs before or during birth
“We weren’t sure if he was gonna live or die,” Stephanie said
He was on a ventilator and hooked up to so many wires and medications — probably 20 or more.”
Doctors used a life support system called ECMO to save Asher’s life
It temporarily takes over the job of the heart and lungs
helping a critically ill patient’s body rest and recover
Blood is pumped out of the baby’s body through one tube
cleaned and filled with oxygen and then returned to the baby through another tube
With that roller coaster experience behind them
Stephanie called the birth a huge blessing
which sells baby gear through her online store
Bryan continued running his own marketing and graphic design company
the couple was thrilled to learn they were expecting another baby
“The tech totally caught us off guard when she said
nothing’s wrong — but I think I see three,’” Stephanie said
a maternal fetal medicine specialist at Advocate Children’s Hospital’s Center for Fetal Care in Park Ridge
led the team that successfully delivered the triplets — Levi
He explained that two of the boys are identical twins
while the third is fraternal — a rare and more complex type of triplet pregnancy
You can have three separate placentas and three separate sacs
we had two babies sharing one placenta and the third having his own,” Mehra said
“Those types of pregnancies add layers of risk.”
The situation required the Epsteins to visit weekly with Mehra and his team
Things were going smoothly until week 26 when she began having contractions
“They told me I was in preterm labor,” Stephanie said
Delivery came at 34 weeks via planned C-section
With more than 25 people in the operating room
Stephanie said the atmosphere was almost festive
I had my music blasting and was completely present for the whole thing,” she said
‘It’s a party in here!’ And it was 7:30 in the morning
Mehra did his best to prepare the Epsteins on what to expect during the operation
He said safely delivering triplets is a major medical event filled with risks for both mom and the babies
“I told her what you’re going to see is organized chaos,” he said
with people focused on mom and others focused on the babies
We wanted the family to be safe and enjoy the moment.”
daily life for the family is far from typical
means the Epstein household runs on routine and teamwork
Stephanie estimates they go through 25 to 30 diapers daily — more than 175 a week — and wash about 20 bottles a day
Bedtime in the Epstein household is carefully choreographed
The two older boys are bathed and in bed by 7:30 p.m
the triplets get their final feeding of the day
The babies usually are bathed earlier in the day — giving five baths back-to-back is no small feat
From Asher’s NICU stay to the safe arrival of the triplets
Stephanie said she and Bryan are immensely grateful for the lifesaving care they’ve received at Advocate Children’s Hospital
“We love the doctors and nurses,” Stephanie said
Residents were displaced after a fire sent flames through the roof of a large house in Long Grove Saturday evening
prompting numerous fire departments to respond
The Countryside Fire Protection District and Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 8:30 p.m
Saturday to the 5600 block of Oakwood Circle in Long Grove for a report of a structure fire
Multiple other fire departments were also dispatched to the call and the Mundelein Fire Department arrived on the scene first
Fire crews reported flames and smoke coming from the roof of a large two-story single-family home
The fire occurred in the Oakwood Creek subdivision
A rural water supply was established and fire department tender trucks had to haul water to the scene
The Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) was activated to the box alarm level to bring additional resources to the scene
Firefighters pulled a hose line and set up a tower ladder to extinguish the fire in the 6,300-square-foot home
Ron Cielek said the homeowners called 911 to report a fire on the rear deck of the home
The homeowners tried to extinguish the fire with a garden hose but were unsuccessful
Cielek said the rear deck was fully involved when firefighters got on the scene
The fire went into the inside of the home and spread into the attic
Everyone escaped from the home safely and no injuries were reported to any residents or firefighters
Approximately a dozen fire departments assisted at the scene and several other fire departments covered Countryside’s fire stations
Countryside Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Russ Bach said the home sustained extensive damage and is uninhabitable
A damage estimate was not immediately available and the cause of the fire is being investigated by the Countryside Fire Protection District

Long Grove is expected to approve an intergovernmental agreement Tuesday allowing the village to buy water from Buffalo Grove
Buffalo Grove trustees on Monday approved their end of the bargain
which calls for Long Grove to receive up to 260,000 gallons per day for up to 20 years
Buffalo Grove officials estimate initial revenue at $80,000 annually
Long Grove Village Manager Chris Sparkman said the water will serve the downtown district
which currently is served by a deep well — only one subdivision
in the village receives Lake Michigan water through Lake County
Buffalo Grove Deputy Village Manager and Director of Public Works Michael Skibbe said the village will apply the funds toward village infrastructure improvements
He said the village is able to sell water because it has excess capacity as the result of a reduction in water usage
The connection would cross Arlington Heights Road north of Thompson Boulevard
The water will be fed to the Long Grove reservoir through a protective air gap
Long Grove would have to build a new connection pipe
Sparkman said Long Grove would receive a $960,000 federal grant secured by Rep
It is the second such agreement for Buffalo Grove
which will sell water to the Pekara/Horatio Gardens subdivisions in Lake County
Sparkman said Long Grove was looking at costly retrofitting of the existing well system if the village didn’t latch onto Buffalo Grove
Construction is expected to start this year and be ready by next year
Long Grove village trustees voted Tuesday night to continue deliberations on a proposal for a QuikTrip gas station east of the intersection of routes 83 and 53
The decision came after trustees reached an impasse
will not be back when the board continues discussions
The other yes vote would come from Kent Tinucci
“We always wanted something on this property,” Kritzmire said
“It’s going to create opportunities for other businesses.”
Trustee Chris Borawski expressed concern about light pollution
while Trustee Rita O’Connor said a 24/7 operation is too intense
Trustee Mohammed Jameel recommended sending the proposal back to the plan commission
to clarify what specific codes it violates
Despite this station possibly being the fourth in a relatively small area
QuikTrip is seeking preliminary approval for the station on the nearly 15 acre property
The station would be the first phase of a development on the property
Trustees pressed QuikTrip on what other users might be coming
said potential business partners are awaiting the outcome of the village’s discussions
An overflow crowd attended Tuesday’s meeting
with residents outside village hall following the action on Zoom
We have concerns about safety at night,” resident Steve Ernsteen said
“I very much understand the village needs to make money
QuikTrip representative Skyler Evans said all of the company’s stations are operated around the clock
a member of the planning commission and zoning board of appeals
said a number of factors went into their decision to reject the proposal
the impact on traffic and how future users will affect residents
removing pumps for semitrucks from the plan
changing the canopy design and toning down the branding colors
“This project will generate significant retail sales tax revenue and hundreds of thousands of dollars to the TIF district,” he added
Despite unanimous rejection by the village’s plan commission
the Long Grove Village Board could still approve a controversial QuikTrip gas station on the east side of the intersection of routes 83 and 53
A large turnout is expected at village hall at 7 p.m
as trustees continue a discussion it began earlier this month
The plan calls for a Planned Unit Development on nearly 15 acres of land
The station is the first phase of a development that could lure such additional businesses as a car wash
hotel or restaurants on the remaining lots
QuikTrip would offer fueling stations and a convenience store
The proposal has spurred opposition from residents who say there are already two similar gas complexes nearby
both facing each other at Route 83 and Arlington Heights Road
“We would have three gas stations within the span of two football fields here
How crazy is that?” said Long Grove resident Jane Ware
Opponents include former village President Tony Dean
who complained about increased traffic congestion at the intersection
which is currently a T-intersection but would change to a four-way with access onto the property
“Now we're going to have people coming out of that place
Dean also questioned the project’s economic outlook
“With now three filling stations [in the area] and the possibility of a decline in fossil fuel usage
I would be curious to see how it does if we do
The property falls within the village’s Route 83/Downtown Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District
Village officials said the TIF revenue generated would help discharge outstanding TIF bonds and reimburse previous village expenditures
Village Manager Chris Sparkman said the station would also generate sales tax and motor fuel tax revenue
Although the village does not levy a property tax
surrounding taxing bodies would benefit from the increase in land value
Sparkman added the plan has already seen some modifications
including elimination of a high-flow diesel bay and the addition of landscape screening

A semitruck hauling large plastic tubes rolled over onto its side Friday morning near Long Grove and Palatine
on the northbound Route 53 exit ramp to westbound Lake-Cook Road
the truck was navigating the curve when the load of plastic tubes on the flatbed trailer shifted
Most of the large blue tubes the truck was carrying were scattered in the ditch next to the road
Lake County officials allowed the roadway to remain open
Traffic was able to get by slowly on the left shoulder
The truck and load were removed and the ramp was reopened around 12:49 p.m.
Bringing Lake Michigan water to town the most pressing issue facing Long Grove
according to two candidates running for village trustee in the April 1 election
agree that connecting to Lake Michigan water is among the village board’s primary concerns
four-year village board seats in next week’s election
O'Connor touts her eight years of village board experience among her qualifications
while Harris cited his familiarity with village procedures
along with the “fresh perspectives and new energy” he would bring to the office
Two other candidates — incumbent Bobbie O'Reilly and newcomer Philip Carona — did not submit candidate questionnaires
nor did they respond to emailed questions about their positions for this story
Neither participated in a Daily Herald endorsement interview despite invitations to do so
Harris wrote in his Daily Herald candidate questionnaire: “We need to get a better understanding of the longevity of the aquifer as well as more testing on contaminants within our private well water supply.”
The village has received a $960,000 federal grant to cover part of the expense of those studies
That will supplement $1.7 million from the village to fund the first phase of the project
which is estimated to cost about $2.4 million in all and should be completed next year
While a pumping station supplies water to the downtown area
about 90% of Long Grove residents have private wells
The “unknown longevity of the aquifer and the potential existence of radium in the water supply” make connecting to Lake Michigan water necessary
O’Connor cited traffic congestion as another village concern and said officials must continue to prod the Illinois Department of Transportation to move forward with promised widening of Route 22 to alleviate backups
Harris expressed concern about road and neighborhood safety
writing that “many neighborhoods do not have sidewalks for pedestrian use.”
Harris proposes additional road safety projects including speed and radar warning signs
speed tables (are raised sections of roads installed to slow vehicles)
improved road shoulders and blind turn warnings
O'Connor proposes installing pedestrian bridges over Route 83 near Robert Parker Coffin Road and over Old 53 at Schaeffer Road to make Long Grove and its amenities more accessible
bike or run through the village would enable not only a feeling of neighborliness and community
but also a contribution to cleaner air and personal health,” she said
O'Connor described Long Grove's financial position as strong
“Our annual general operating budget is approximately $4.7 million with $10 million in reserves in excess of our policy of maintaining 12 months of reserves,” she said
which is intended to cover the cost of the village hall expansion and the cost to access Lake Michigan water
“our reserves are strong and our budget is well-structured.”

A resident says a cooking accident caused an extra-alarm fire that tore through an apartment building
displacing at least a dozen and injuring at least five
The Long Grove Fire Protection District and Cook County Sheriff’s Office responded around 5:51 p.m
Tuesday to the 2300 block of West Nichols Road in unincorporated Arlington Heights
911 callers reported multiple people trapped in the burning building at the Country Glen Apartment Complex
according to fire department radio traffic
Firefighters arrived to find an active fire in a three-story apartment building
Multiple fire departments were called to assist
Long Grove Fire Protection District Battalion Chief John Jaworski said heavy flames were coming from the second and third floors on the south side of the structure
The incident was soon upgraded through the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) to the box alarm level and then the second alarm level to bring additional fire department resources to the scene
Jaworski said the fire quickly spread through the entire second and third floors of the apartment building
which is located on Lake Cook Road just east of Route 53
Firefighters were using multiple hose lines and a tower ladder truck to apply water to the fire
At least 19 fire departments were on the scene
Northbrook and Northfield fire departments were assisting Long Grove
Eight ambulances were dispatched to the scene following injuries reported
Jaworski said five people were evaluated by paramedics and three of them were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries for further treatment
heavy smoke continued pouring out of the roof of the building as firefighters continued spraying water on the fire
The entire six-unit apartment building was deemed uninhabitable after sustaining heavy damage
The American Red Cross was at the scene helping find alternative arrangements for the displaced residents
Over a dozen residents were displaced but an exact number was not immediately known
A resident told Lake and McHenry County Scanner he was playing video games when he heard a woman screaming outside and running
He then saw flames engulfing the building before the fire department arrived quickly at the scene
Another resident said she heard the fire trucks and looked outside to see “huge flames” and heard people screaming
Tatiana Moore told CBS Chicago that the fire started in her apartment while she was cooking
The grease must have gotten too hot,” Moore said
adding that she saw flames filling her kitchen and quickly spreading
A large amount of fire investigators from throughout Lake and McHenry counties were dispatched to the scene on Wednesday morning as the investigation remains ongoing with the assistance of the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal
A damage estimate was not immediately available

A box truck associated with Toys for Tots struck the historic Robert Parker Coffin Bridge in Long Grove Thursday afternoon
marking over 60 times that the bridge has been hit
on Thursday and was caught on surveillance video
captured by Neumann’s Cigars and More
showed a white box truck traveling westbound on Robert Parker Coffin Road approaching Schaeffer Road
The truck attempted to drive onto the Robert Parker Coffin Bridge
at which point it abruptly struck the bridge canopy
The truck was not stuck under the bridge and the driver reversed the vehicle and stayed at the scene until a sheriff’s deputy arrived
A witness told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that a United States Marine was driving the truck for Toys for Tots
The bridge appeared to have sustained minor damage and the truck was also damaged
Neumann’s Cigars and More said it was at least the 63rd time the bridge had been struck
vertically stacked load struck the top girders of the bridge
Surveillance video showed the truck’s oversized load hitting the top of the bridge before stopping and immediately reversing to free itself
which has another location in Libertyville
has been keeping tabs on previous bridge hits on its Facebook page
their camera captured a truck’s aerial lift hitting the bridge
video showed the top load of a van hitting the bridge
“There are numerous signs informing drivers of the height restriction and signs prohibiting trucks and busses from using the bridge,” Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli has said previously
a large box truck became wedged under the bridge and had to have a tow truck remove it
It was the second time in just three days that the bridge was struck
At least two other vehicles were also involved in hitting the bridge in June
Both incidents were relatively minor but a tow truck was needed to remove one of the trucks, which became wedged under the bridge
formerly known as the Long Grove Covered Bridge
was renamed in September 2022 to the Robert Parker Coffin Bridge after Robert Parker Coffin
The bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places
It has been struck well over 60 times by oversized vehicles since 2018
In June 2023, a party bus became the 50th vehicle to hit the historic bridge after the vehicle scrapped the bridge’s canopy
causing the bus’ roof air conditioning unit to rip off
The bus did not remain at the scene despite its roof air conditioning unit being ripped off and falling onto the roadway

A proposed gas station at the corner of Route 83 and Route 53 in Long Grove is fueling protests among its prospective neighbors
has plans to put 16 pumps and three diesel bays with an auto diesel component as well as a car wash on the now vacant piece of land
But the proposal could contain more than a gas station and car wash
The plan also calls for development of the surrounding area
Suggested uses include a possible warehouse and a hotel
the developer has proposed an entrance from Route 83 that would line up with a signal at the Route 53/Route 83 intersection
The Long Grove Village Board first heard the plan in December
The village’s plan commission and zoning board of appeals has a hearing set for Oct
who lives in the nearby Lakes of Long Grove subdivision
said there are more than 500 signatures on a petition opposed to the development
She said neighbors are especially concerned about the diesel pumps serving as a potential draw for truck traffic from Route 53
this gas station would be within practically 500 feet of two other gas stations,” she said
referring to two stations facing each other diagonally across the intersection of Arlington Heights Road and Route 83
“But the main thing that people are really up in arms about is that it's going to be a 24/7 gas station,” she said
She worried children from a neighboring subdivision in Buffalo would be in danger trying to cross over Route 83 and Route 53 to shop at the convenience store
told the village board in December the company started in 1958 and remains family owned
He said it donates 5% of its profits annually to nonprofits and charities
saying it serves fresh sandwiches every day
he said surveillance cameras on the site would include facial recognition
Evans said the architecture would do its best to match the architectural style of surrounding buildings
“We don’t want to be a sore thumb sticking out,” Evans said

A family-friendly holiday romance movie largely filmed in Mundelein
Hawthorn Woods and Long Grove will debut on Hulu starting Friday
“Christmas on the Ranch” is the third in a trilogy of Christmas movies shot in the Northwest suburbs — previous entries were “Christmas With Felicity” and “Reporting for Christmas.” The latter premiered on Hulu last year
“We’re thrilled to be working with Hulu again and look forward to sharing the film with audiences this holiday season,” said Chris Charles
where a talk-show relationship expert is stranded at a ranch before Christmas
It stars Daytime Emmy award-winning actress Jade Harlow and Houston Rhines
Most of the principal photography took place at Country Ridge Stables in Mundelein and the Zia West equestrian facility in Hawthorn Woods
“We think viewers will especially enjoy all the amazing horses featured in the movie,” said Bosher
Additional photography took place in Long Grove at the Chatterbox of Long Grove
the Sock Monkey Museum and the famous Robert Parker Coffin Bridge; in Arlington Heights at Dakota K Auto Repair & Tire Center; and in Vernon Hills at Bende
Bosher mentioned the famous covered bridge plays a crucial role in the plot
the heroine crosses the bridge before swerving into a lamppost to avoid hitting a horse
But the local connection goes beyond the cinematic backdrop
Bosher and Charles of Very Merry Entertainment have ties to the area
while Buffalo Grove resident Adam Rockoff co-wrote the screenplay with Terry Kinane
Rockoff’s versatile background includes work in the horror genre
The filmmakers have enjoyed using the character of Long Grove to stand in for small-town communities in other states
“Long Grove has always been that quintessential small town,” said Rockoff
He mentioned visiting Strawberry Fest and Chocolate Fest on weekends
adding that his daughter Hailey sang carols in downtown Long Grove while she went to Stevenson High School
“It kind of fits a little bit of the image that we've tried to maintain throughout the years to keep that rural character among the suburban sprawl,” Long Grove Village President Bill Jacob said

a box truck became stuck under Long Grove’s iconic covered bridge early Monday morning
with the vehicle taking the brunt of the damage
“The vast majority of the times this happens
it damages the vehicle,” Long Grove Assistant Village Manager Dana McCarthy said
it was more a case of deflating the truck’s tires to free it and get it on its way than addressing any structural damage
Though the bridge has certainly been hit well over 50 times since it reopened in 2020 after an extensive renovation
the village itself doesn’t keep count of the instances
Apart from drivers not paying attention to the warning signs
GPS systems designed for passenger vehicles have been blamed for some previous occurrences between trucks and the bridge
McCarthy said he had no knowledge of the cause of Monday’s collision
Lake County sheriff’s officials were unavailable for comment Wednesday
so it’s unclear if any citations were issued
Video captured a small truck hitting the historic Robert Parker Coffin Bridge in downtown Long Grove Wednesday afternoon
marking over 60 times that the bridge was hit
what looks to be a small truck carrying an oversized
vertically stacked load struck the top girders of the bridge at around 1:27 p.m
Surveillance video posted by nearby Neumann’s Cigars & More in downtown Long Grove showed the truck’s oversized load hitting the top of the bridge before stopping and immediately reversing to free itself
It didn’t seem to cause any damage to the load of the truck or the bridge
Neumann’s Cigars said Wednesday afternoon marks the 61st time the bridge has been hit
It has been struck well over 50 times by oversized vehicles since 2018
Four candidates are running for three seats on the Long Grove Village Board
The incumbents are Rita O’Connor and Bobbie O’Reilly
They are challenged by newcomer Philip Carona and current Long Grove Village Clerk Adam Harris
found the time to meet with us to discuss issues important to the community and its residents
O’Reilly and Carona did not respond to our candidate questionnaire or to repeated invitations to an interview with our Editorial Board
so we cannot offer an endorsement for them
but we find O’Connor and Harris both well suited to the job ahead
Her experience is clear in her discussion of such issues in town as the covered bridge
drawing more visitors to the historic downtown area and Lake Michigan water access
She’s also passionate about residential road and pathway safety
O’Connor would like to see bridges installed over Route 83 near Robert Parker Coffin Road
She says these bridges will help connect neighborhoods
offer community members more access to each other and to Long Grove amenities
She is knowledgeable on Long Grove’s finances
and her experience in local government makes her a valuable member of this board
consider differing opinions and bring projects to the community to benefit the residents makes her an excellent candidate
Harris also offers experience and knowledge that is valuable to Long Grove and its residents
he is focused on connecting to Lake Michigan water and the funding needed to complete this project
Pedestrian safety is a priority for Harris
and he’d like to see sidewalks added to neighborhoods
Harris' current clerk role allows him to be familiar with board meetings
executive sessions and how the village operates overall
He also wants to preserve the charm of downtown Long Grove while also helping to boost commerce and activity to the area
experience and solid ideas to the role of trustee and is also endorsed

No injuries were reported Saturday night after fire broke out in a Long Grove home, causing significant damage and leaving the residence uninhabitable.
Residents were able to escape unharmed from the blaze, which broke out at about 8:30 p.m. in the 5600 block of Oakwood Circle, Countryside Fire Protection District officials said Sunday.
The first firefighters to arrive encountered heavy fire conditions at the rear of the residence, with flames spreading throughout all levels of the home, including the basement and attic, authorities said.
Due to the rural location and lack of hydrants in the area, firefighters established a rural water supply operation to shuttle water to the scene. Multiple mutual-aid fire departments responded to assist, officials said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Among the fire departments assisting at the scene were Mundelein, Libertyville, Lake Zurich, Long Grove, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Wauconda, Round Lake, Gurnee, Wheeling, Grayslake, North Chicago, Lake Forest, Highland Park, and Barrington-Countryside.
The Salvation Army Canteen also was on scene to provide support for the first responders, officials said.
