And being a writer, she has a very active imagination, sort of like Murder, She Wrote Nerve endings are starting to not lay smooth and I think Traci is starting to see some warning signs Sharon starts to reveal information about her abduction that starts lining up with messages on Alan’s phone.” Traci’s wheels are turning as she looks back on her recent interactions with Alan “The timing in question starts to fall into place for her,” adds Maitland Sharon confirms for her some suspicions; the seeds have been planted and are starting to grow.” The enormity of Alan’s possible evildoing causes serious distress for Traci. “It sends her right into crisis mode, because not only is this late-in-life, absolute surprise of happiness being completely yanked out from under her, it also indicates that there are threats that she feels responsible for, to both Sharon and Phyllis, and to her sister Ashley [Abbott, Eileen Davidson],” points out Maitland “She feels responsible for putting people in harm’s way because she didn’t figure this out sooner or see through him there are lots of layers for Traci in that all of this causes her to want to help to put a stop to this and find out what the truth is.” Unsure of her next move, Traci turns to her brother Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) for counsel and Traci needs his feedback,” explains Maitland “She needs to run all of this by him and have him be her voice of reason for a change and tell her if he feels she’s off-base or overreacting and trying to actually sort through this and get to the bottom of things.” The actress admits she was waiting for the other shoe to drop in Traci’s burgeoning romance “I was absolutely not surprised,” muses Maitland of the Alan twist you can’t be happy on daytime very long you’re relegated to go upstairs to wash your hair and never come back The good news is that we start from the perspective that Traci already has a life she loves She’s everybody’s go-to for a sounding board and a moral compass Maitland is aware that not everyone will be as thrilled to see Traci’s happily ever after upended “There’s a huge fan base of women of a certain age and people who have watched Traci go through all of her four decades of pain and we’re disappointing those people somewhat,” Maitland acknowledges she would be even more boring than just being everyone’s shoulder to lean on so I feel like there has to be something to tear it up a little bit Maitland is thankful for Traci’s part in the tale and that her character has a hand in cracking the case “It’s definitely a generous story gift to Traci to be able to be a part of unraveling all of this,” offers the actress speaks to the fun that can be had in daytime if you go ahead and embrace the formula that we’re in delicious idea that the big conflict for viewers watching entertainment is this famous catchphrase and the audience’s agreement that everything doesn’t have to be completely factual you willfully agree that this may not make a whole bunch of sense there’s a whole aspect of this that is delightful that these kinds of stories still get to be toyed with,” she concludes Something that she appreciates after all her years in Genoa City especially as the show celebrates its 52nd anniversary on Wednesday “I’m winding up my 42nd year in about a month and I will start my 43rd year on the show,” Maitland marvels I feel like this is where I’m meant to be I never am happier than when I have dates on the calendar and I know I’m driving to that studio.” Sign Up Honeymoons traditionally don’t last long on soap operas but poor Traci Abbott, played by Daytime Emmy-winner and fan favorite Beth Maitland may not even get to go on one in light of recent discoveries about her fiancé Alan (Christopher Cousins) on The Young and the Restless The CBS soap has done its viewers a true service by taking Traci from her position as family talk-to and putting her in a story all of her own Instead of consoling and supporting family members and friends Fans have waited a while to see both Maitland and Traci have a story in which they can both shine and it’s terrific watching it all unfold Y&R didn’t drag Traci connecting the dots out over weeks and months as shows are sometimes known to do a woman who juggles numerous dynamics and relationships in her novels It’s only logical that she’d get suspicious and ask questions We watched the happy feelings Traci was experiencing over her love for Alan slowly start to crumble Traci became a detective character in her own life by dropping by Crimson Lights ostensibly to get a muffin for nephew Harrison but we could tell why Traci was truly there She wanted to pick Sharon’s brain about her kidnapping ordeal and see if there was a connection to Alan Maitland has always brought warmth and compassion to her role as John Abbott’s (the late Jerry Douglas) daughter And even though Traci was on a fishing expedition she never lost sight of giving support to Sharon who’d been through a horrific ordeal We saw Traci try to suppress her reactions every time Sharon shared a piece of news that only supported Traci’s fears that Alan – or Martin – is responsible for what she and Phyllis had gone through and not being 100% positive that Alan is guilty Traci wisely chose not to share her suspicions with Sharon Our hearts broke for Traci as she grew more suspicious and incredulous that the man she loves is capable of such atrocities The Abbott siblings have one of the most believable familial dynamics on soaps. Maitland and TV brother Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott) have worked together for over 35 years Who better for Traci to turn to than the already-suspicious Jack Jack played both sounding board and devil’s advocate to his sister as she shared her theories about Alan Jack didn’t want to break Traci’s heart as she detailed her secret fears but he also doesn’t want her to be in harm’s way Jack provided a safe space for Traci to lay out her theory as if she were plotting out one of her novels Tears began to well up in Traci’s eyes as she more fully realized the theory that Alan is guilty is likely true Traci waited a while for romance to enter her life again Maitland played her character’s pain and perhaps even a little guilt (which she shouldn’t feel at all!) all at once which isn’t always entertaining to watch Maitland reminded us that her character is a strong woman She’s the type of person that anyone is truly lucky and blessed to have in his or her corner Maitland is also bringing remarkable strength to her role She is not going to let Alan or whoever he is or anyone else for that matter hurt her loved ones She’s taking an active role in exposing Alan if he is indeed guilty Traci can’t help but have an occasional glimmer of hope when it comes to the man – even though she knows with each passing moment the possibility of that is extremely slim Seeing those glimmers of light extinguished by facts and gut instincts is heartbreaking because we care about Traci so much We expect there’s more angst and drama to come into Traci’s life as this story continues to develop she’ll continue being surrounded by a loving family And she’ll also be able to write a heck of a real-life crime novel based on all of this someday Sign Up An Orange County sports complex was shut down Monday night after a leak from an ammonia tank According to a statement from the city of Maitland firefighters arrived at the Orlando Sportsplex at 8701 Maitland Summit Blvd in response to a report of a slight ammonia odor [EXCLUSIVE: Become a News 6 Insider (it’s FREE) | PINIT! "What's really hurtful about the situation is," she continued "maybe she was mad and she wanted to bring it up like that—but Will had presented this show to me before like it was going to be so much fun." Will and Rider for comment and has not yet heard back Will—who played Eric Matthews opposite Maitland's Rachel McGuire—was the one who invited her on because she had "been closer to him" than Danielle and Rider "He's always been a friend to me We weren't seeing each other every day If he knew this was gonna happen like this and didn't give me any warning about it who joined the cast in seasons six and seven said that she would've appreciated a warning ahead of the episode to prepare if Danielle was ready to hash out their grievances "I was not going to start anything with her," the 44-year-old said "We were just going to have conversations I thought it was weird that she wasn't bringing anything up It wasn't until the latter part of the episode that things started heating up Although the Rated X author said she was more than willing to squash their beef she believes they should've talked about it ahead of time As for what was said on the podcast episode Maitland accused Danielle of refusing to speak with her in 2014 during the premiere of Girl Meets World as well as unfriending her on Facebook "I am not a Facebook person," Danielle explained insisting that she tried to make amends in 2022 when Will told her about a heartfelt message Maitland sent years prior "I then went into my Facebook page and saw that we were not friends I didn't remember when we were friends on Facebook or when we were no longer friends on Facebook I found your message in the graveyard of messages—and I then felt very bad." you did send me a really nice message,’” she continued ‘Will you please ask Maitland if I could have her phone number so I could apologize to her?’ And you wrote back to Will not much was resolved between the two when the episode winded down "You and I have totally different and both perfectly valid experiences," Danielle concluded Read on to see all the feuds from the set of Boy Meets World Maitland Ward & Danielle Fishel's Beef the issue seemed to stem from a Facebook message Maitland sent Danielle in 2013 in which she congratulated her on her engagement to now ex-husband Tim Belusko and Boy Meets World spin-off Girl Meets World Danielle said she didn't see the note at the time It wasn't until Maitland mentioned the message in the press years later that Danielle went back to look for it—finding it in a "graveyard" of DMs.Danielle noted she then asked costar and podcast cohost Will Friedle (Eric) for Maitland's phone number to apologize but that Maitland didn't want to talk privately at that point—saying Maitland told Will she'd save the conversation for the podcast and "rock the stats." However Maitland said she didn't want to speak to Danielle because she thought her reach-out was "disingenuous."Among her proof: The fact that Danielle had unfriended her on Facebook something Danielle insisted she "never purposefully" did Maitland also said on the podcast that Danielle barely spoke to her when they reunited in 2014 for Girl Meets World a situation she found hurtful as she'd invited Danielle to her 2006 wedding and thought they were friends. While Danielle said she didn't have an issue with Maitland at the time she pointed out they hadn't seen or spoken to each other since the wedding She also suggested she didn't have the best experience working on Girl Meets World but made it clear it wasn't anything against Maitland. However Maitland accused Danielle of being upset at the time over the attention Maitland was getting in the adult entertainment industry noting she posed for Maxim in 2014.Maitland also accused Danielle Will and their cohost Rider Strong (Shawn) of being negative on Pod Meets World and hating costar Ben Savage (Cory) and Boy Meets World creator Michael Jacobs (though she later backpedaled and said she meant they just had disagreements). In any case the podcast cohosts made it clear they did not hate Ben or Michael and that they were simply sharing their experiences from the show. And when Maitland accused Danielle of "trying to go at" her for ratings Danielle shot this down—claiming it was Maitland who was using this opportunity to get press. While Danielle said she and Maitland don't need to be friends Fourteen years after Boy Meets World ended, Ben and Danielle reprised their roles of Cory and Topanga on Girl Meets World—a comedy series that followed their daughter Riley (Rowan Blanchard), her friend Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) and their lives at home and school. The show ran on Disney Channel from 2014 to 2017 Danielle described it on her podcast as a "very "Let’s put it this way," she said on a February 2025 episode of Pod Meets World "The memories we have of the fun set of Boy Meets World were not the memories or the fun set of Girl Meets World I felt a lot of different things being on that set."E News reached out to Disney for comment but did not hear back The Cast's Estrangement From Ben Savage but his old pals still hold out hope."Ben is one of the most important people I’ve ever met in my life," Will said in a February 2025 Pod Meets World episode "and I can’t stand the fact that he won’t speak to us." Will Friedle's Racially Insensitive Remark to Trina McGee he saw Trina exit her dressing room in a "big red headscarf" and "attached no cultural significance to that whatsoever."Thinking he was teasing her like he did the rest of the cast he decided to "make fun of her red hat." "That’s as far as my dumbass privileged mind saw it," Will said "So right before I walked on for my part I walked by and went 'love your syrup' and walked onto the set thinking boom just got her for her hat."Trina told Will the joke wasn't OK and he was "mortified," noting the moment changed his life."You can’t just throw things out there because you think it’s funny and walk away," he said "the silence grows and then the whole imagery of it becomes bigger than life and bigger than what it really is."As Trina later added Danielle Fishel & Trina McGee's Tension "Trina and I spoke over a month ago and she gracefully accepted my apology."And they talked about how they were pitted against each other particularly when it came to the rumors surrounding Trina's exit."By the time you came to Girl Meets World you had had 14 or 15 years of believing we got together to keep you from being in the series finale of Boy Meets World and then the interaction you have with me is very cold," Danielle said on the 2022 episode of Pod Meets World "How could you not walk away thinking We will always be in competition.'"After the two talked it out privately they wished they had just had a conversation sooner."We could have been there for each other the way we’ve been there for each other through multiple hardships over the last several years," she added is the biggest lesson and the importance of talking and being willing to dig deep for the same purpose which is growing and becoming better people and doing better."  Danielle Fishel's Tearful Discussion With Creator Michael Jacobs She saved it."Michael added he "always believed in her" and still does Will Friedle & Rider Strong's Past Support of Brian Peck in Drake Bell Case I want you to know I love you and I forgive you.'" After Boy Meets World star Maitland Ward got into a heated exchanged with Danielle Fishel on Pod Meets World Maitland compared her former costar to Mean Girls character Regina George Maitland Ward feels as though she brought a knife to a gunfight she debriefed her heated conversation with her former costars—even tossing in a Mean Girls reference “It just felt uneasy to have people that you called friends—especially in the past, I thought Danielle was my friend—I can see that she did not like me,” Maitland told TooFab in a Feb 24 interview after the podcast episode went live “and she has harbored not liking me through the years But Maitland wasn’t only hurt by Danielle through the experience. She also expressed resentment toward Will—who played Eric Matthews in the Michael Jacobs sitcom—for not being fully honest about what her appearance on the podcast would entail “He presented it to me that it was gonna be fun and we were just gonna talk it out—not even talk it out just have conversations about the show and stuff,” Maitland added “I wasn't expecting such a jarring shift.” Indeed, while the first hour of the podcast saw the former castmates peacefully discuss their past experiences on the Boy Meets World set, as well as Maitland’s transition into the adult film industry the tone suddenly changed when Danielle pointedly asked Maitland if she hated her Rider—who played Shawn Hunter in the series—and Will all of a sudden she was Topanga and then she switched into Regina George.” The 44-year-old also reflected on the impetus of her and Danielle’s disagreement, which was whether Danielle had unfriended and, thus, not seen a message from Maitland via Facebook that she had sent in 2013 In response to Danielle claiming on the podcast episode that she probably unfriended her without much thought well that makes me feel really great that that's how you're coming on to tell me this—basically you hate me more than I even realized.” Danielle had expressed surprise for being invited to Maitland’s 2006 wedding to husband Terry Baxter a sentiment that Maitland was also hurt by “I really genuinely liked her and wanted her to come to the wedding.” she expressed confusion for how Danielle approached her at the end of the recent episode “I'm not saying that I'm perfect at all but I would never have gone at her like that News has reached out to reps for Danielle regarding Maitland’s latest comments but has not yet heard back Bobby (pictured second from left) addressed rumors of a falling out with Tan (middle) in January 2024 two months after he announced his exit from Queer Eye after eight seasons "I want people to know that Tan and I—we will be fine," he told Vanity Fair It was something personal that had been brewing—and nothing romantic In March 2024, Tan responded to allegations that he had campaigned to replace Bobby on Queer Eye with his friend Jeremiah Brent "Netflix and the production companies did a full-on casting I didn't put my friend up for the job They ended up getting it because they were the best person for the job," he said on Instagram "But I didn't get them hired by getting rid of somebody else." Following years of rumors of a feud between the two on a December 2023 episode of her podcast Let's Be Clear Shannen's former Charmed costar Holly Marie Combs alleged that Alyssa had once made an ultimatum to a show producer to choose between herself and Shannen which ultimately led to the latter leaving the show in 2001 "I did not have the power to get anyone fired" and that "this was so long ago that any retelling of these stories from anyone is just revisionist history." A day later, Shannen said at a panel event at MegaCon Orlando "There is no revisionist history happening in the truth that I know we told." Shannen passed away in July 2024 after a yearslong battle with cancer while playing a game called Stir the Pot with her daughter Kelly Osbourne on E Sharon said the That '70s Show alum was the rudest celebrity she had ever met rude little boy" and a "dastardly little thing." During an appearance Watch What Happens Live the Happy Days actor was asked why he didn't get along with the Forrest Gump star on the set of the 1989 flick Turner & Hooch "I was directing that movie for 13 days and then I was called into [producer] Jeff Katzenberg's office and he said seem to get along with Hanks' four-legged co-star He also refused to admit if he's even seen the flick Fans of The Hills will remember that iconic line delivered by Lauren on the season three premiere Their feud began when Heidi started dating her now-husband Spencer Pratt and hit its peak when Lauren accused Heidi and Spencer of starting a rumor that she had made a sex tape with Jason Wahler Tyrese then opened up about the feud, telling Van Lathan on The Red Pill podcast "I have yet to talk to The Rock to this day and we will have a conversation." He shared that he did have a conversation with the former wrestler's producing partner "I found myself being the messenger on behalf of various people associated to the franchise but stupid me was the only one who went public about those feelings Taylor and Katy had been in a feud for years, even allegedly inspiring Taylor's song "Bad Blood." The drama, which reportedly started over a backup dancer and competing tours, came to an end after Perry sent Taylor a literal olive branch before her Reputation Tour kickoff "So I just got to my dressing room and found this actual olive branch," Taylor said in an Instagram video Sex and the City costars Kim and SJP had dodged feud rumors for years. But they were reignited after Kim decided not to return for a third movie and made comments about her costar that raised eyebrows "What was your reaction to Kim Cattrall telling Piers Morgan that you were never friends just colleagues?" Andy Cohen asked SJP on a Sept you and I spoke about it because I was just...I don't know I found it really upsetting because that's that's not the way I recall our experience." "So...it's sad but I'm kind of...I don't know I always think that what ties us together is this singular experience is the thing It was a professional experience but it became personal because it was years and years of our lives So I'm hoping that that sort of eclipses anything that's been recently spoken," she continued "That many years spent doing something so special that people had a connection with is such a privileged." And though they didn't film scenes together Kim did make a small appearance on And Just Like That The iconic singers have been feuding since 2004. While accepting the Classic Songwriter Award at the Q Awards that year, Elton said to attendees but I think everyone who lip-syncs in public on stage The former Grey's Anatomy star sparked a feud with the series creator in 2008 when she removed her name from the Emmy Awards consideration The actress stated that her reason for the move was because she wasn't "given the material to warrant a nomination." Kanye updated his Instagram to follow only Taylor and the fellow musician did not respond publicly to the move It's been over 15 years since Mariah and J.Lo's "feud" has been going on It all started when the Queen of Christmas was asked to give her opinion on several singers during an interview Soap Opera Digest: Let me begin by saying how relieved I am that Traci made it out of this terrible ordeal alive Beth Maitland (laughs): I did have some questions when the scripts started coming in Digest: Did you discover Traci’s fate in the script or were your concerns alleviated in advance and then the scripts come and that’s when I learn what’s going on next week “If I’ve got another date [to tape at the Y&R studio] on the calendar Digest: As the scripts started rolling in and you got a sense of where the storyline was going were you pleased that there wasn’t a lot of time where you had to play Traci as in the dark that she did start to put the pieces together relatively quickly That’s a hard question to answer because my desire is always for a longer-term storyline I love the old-fashioned way of telling stories when it took sometimes months for stories to build up to the giant climax and for little nuggets to be dropped along the way all of that took a long time to build up to The shocking part that happens [with the reveal that “Alan”‘ was really Martin] was just a few weeks so I wish that part had actually been a little prolonged But the fact that Traci does get to be involved in finding the texts on the phone getting to talk to Sharon and what happened to her and Phyllis and the kidnapping to start twigging her Aunt Traci is everybody’s shoulder to cry on we get to actually remember there’s a lot more to her than that So I do love that she got to be a part of putting the pieces together although I love for things to take a while to be revealed and I love for things to be a gigantic surprise — you know Digest: I do think that the audience would have had a hard time watching Traci have the wool pulled over her eyes for too long; as much as we know her to want to see the best in people which I think was proven by how happy they were when Alan first came into her life I take it very seriously — both personally as Beth and as an actor — that over the decades I represent a certain percentage of the population It really matters to me that I bring authenticity to the playing of that a role that is really unique in all of daytime and am constantly flattered and appreciate that viewers often reach out and tell me that it matters to them too I was really worried when this went south with Martin being the evil twin who are innocent bystanders in all of this I am so grateful and appreciative that there are so many people that continue to really relate to Traci and tell me personally that they feel seen through me so I work very hard to make sure that that stays the root of it all I always joke that Traci is sort of like a non-cussing version of myself I was nothing like Traci at the beginning and now I am Traci Digest: Traci’s heartbreak over her happy ending slipping through her fingers is palpable What was it like to play out those emotional scenes I cry if things don’t go well in the Starbucks line especially one that plays a character like Traci we keep our toolbox kind of close under the surface this wouldn’t happen; I wouldn’t cry about everything in public So I keep those emotions very close to the surface a factor is the pace at which we work nowadays because we shoot five episodes in four days The workload is intense and tremendous and usually “If you get partway through a scene and you don’t like how it’s going you kind of have to fall down or they won’t stop It’ll end up on TV!” For scenes that involve that kind of emotion it’s a mechanism of doing this for a long period of time that [my emotions] are right there under the surface so it’s easier for me than one might think A character like Nick Newman doesn’t need to cry all the time Nick] would have a very different answer to that question But because it’s our Traci and because it’s me playing her there was a storyline involving the death of Traci’s daughter now that’s over.” There are a lot of funny in being able to produce emotion when it’s required especially looking across the table or across the couch at Peter Bergman [Jack] He’s like the real brother I never had in real life and this matters to him — the work matters so much there is no place I would rather be than working with those two actors we are all so connected that all we have to do is just look up at each other and the tears are there Then it just becomes about learning your lines and making sure that you don’t fall down and it was very fun to just let go to just let it out and see where it takes you Digest: In your view, what kind of imprint does this whole trauma leave on Traci there has been so much trauma and tragedy in her life that what we definitely know about our Traci is that she is a survivor no matter what self-recrimination or doubts she may have [feeling] that she should have seen warning signs or seen this coming It is a very odd parallel to my life that oddly on the other side of a lot of personal tragedy it actually makes a character much more appealing and more attractive to others — that even in the face of the unthinkable the fact that you can find a way to go on makes you a superhero Is there anything else you want to say before I let you go Maitland: The only thing is that I always want the audience to know how much they inform what we do and I am so grateful that we have the most amazing viewers who have watched since the first day or for 30 years or some other significant amount of time Only in daytime do we have fans who have decades invested in our storytelling They treat us and think of us as part of their family because we’re in their living room every day and I want them to know how much every actor on the show appreciates you how much it means to us that you’re there for us Our viewers are the only reason we’re still on television and I just want to appreciate and acknowledge how much a part of our journey they are Traci has some major healing to do after discovering that she was on the verge of marrying her beloved Alan’s evil twin Soap Opera Digest has affiliate partnerships so we may receive compensation for some links to products and services.Copyright © 2025 Odyssey Magazine Publishing Group Inc By clicking Sign In, you agree to our Terms and Conditions and that you have read our Privacy Policy. donated 360 books which were first kept in the living room of a local teacher before being relocated to an empty storefront on Horatio Avenue the library collection exceeds 96,000 items including nearly 29,000 downloadable books and audio books The public facility is popular with its weekly activities for youth and adults Though expansions have since occurred in 1959, 1972 and 1989, the council says it’s coming to grips with a building that while beloved is “short on space for many current library activities and has no extra property for additional building enlargements,” the city’s social media post states adding a study in 2017 found that necessary construction improvements would only reduce the current building’s interior space Get today’s headlines in minutes with Your Florida Daily: joined the ClickOrlando team in November 2021 Beth Maitland, who joined The Young and the Restless in 1982 couldn’t be more thrilled to still be a part of the cast as the show marks 52 years on the air on March 26 walking into that building year after year has just reinforced for me that acting has saved my life during the most difficult traumatic times one can imagine happening to a person,” Maitland reflects “Being an actor has gotten me through those things and I feel privileged at my age to still have a job and to still be showing up for work doing something I feel meant to do I walk into that building and I feel complete.”  While she’s been part of a slew of stories in her 40-plus years as Traci, there are a few that stand out for Maitland. “There are favorite things, for example, like the episodes that we used to shoot in the olden days,” she says. “It delights me to think back to the rock concerts in the summer with Danny [Romalotti, Michael Damian] and Gina [Roma There were amazing smoke and special effects and we would pre-record at the real Capitol Records like we were huge stars Every tale featuring Traci hasn’t been lighthearted and there’s one from 2009 that struck a particularly poignant note most emotional and devastating storyline was perhaps the loss of Traci’s daughter Not only was Colleen brain dead and they brought her in and put her on life support but then it was revealed she was an organ donor and Traci had to start making choices about pulling the plug and delivering her organs That story was so demanding and such a highlight of my career It wasn’t easy and it wasn’t happy but it was such a commitment to the job of acting and the purpose of telling that story.”  Maitland cherishes the fact that she holds a special place in the hearts of soap viewers who find Traci more accessible than other characters in Genoa City glamorous character on a daytime drama,” she points out “I sort of represent the everyday person who gets to live through Traci in a way that no other character provides it’s about what attracted fans and viewers to Traci in the first place It wasn’t always that it was a weight story that attracted them It was that everyone has things they’re insecure about everyone has things they don’t like about themselves — their hair is too curly She’s relatable in a way that no other character on our show is relatable She admits her appreciation for Traci’s role in the daytime landscape came with time. “It was at first a little uncomfortable, and now I’m just so proud that I get to be that voice,” Maitland explains. “It’s not only a groundbreaking compliment to [creator] Bill Bell to come up with a character like that and commit to it, it also speaks to our current commander in chief, to Josh Griffith and his writing staff I haven’t been under contract on the show in and to still have major storylines from time to time — I’ve been on the show more in the last five or six years than I was in the 10 years prior —  where most people are at retirement age speaks to their understanding that this character means something to their viewers In addition to her professional accomplishments Maitland can’t help but focus on the personal connections she’s made through the years “We talk about it being a family all the time and people probably roll their eyes and think ‘How can that be?’ But I’m telling you These people are a giant part of my life and influenced me every day Growing up together and being a part of each other’s lives is so meaningful and to have peers and colleagues that I cherish and consider family is also one of the greatest gifts I can imagine.”  As is counting herself an ongoing cast member of the legendary soap and I was given a three-month contract,” she marvels “But the fact that they keep investing in this character that they keep returning to this really unique person being an important part of the dynamic in Genoa City is so flattering I could not be more grateful and blessed to 'We just thought it would be a hell of a cliffhanger to end the season on.”   A sudsy issue that celebrates all your favorite soaps and stars that have kept us hooked for years The Calm Before The Storm: Beth Maitland (Traci) on the Y&R set with leading man Christopher Cousins (Alan) last year it’s just a matter of time before poor Traci puts together the pieces and realizes that her fiancé Alan is the mastermind behind Phyllis and Sharon’s kidnapping admitted in a new interview that she’d been anticipating an implosion in her character’s picture-perfect relationship from the moment it started “I was absolutely not surprised,” Maitland told TV Insider you’re relegated to go upstairs to wash your hair and never come back.” Despite the fact that her character’s dream relationship is about to take a nosedive Maitland voiced her confidence that Traci will be fine “The good news is that we start from the perspective that Traci already has a life she loves,” noted Maitland and she has a career that she also loves.” the many loyal Traci fans in the audience are bracing themselves to see the beloved character’s heart break once again “There’s a huge fan base of women of a certain age and we’re disappointing those people somewhat.” it wasn’t hard to find the silver lining in the scenario which is that the plot twist gave her something super-juicy to play “I long for something to do!” the Daytime Emmy-winner admitted The actress gave a preview of what will go down after a chat with Sharon prompts Traci to begin connecting the messages on Alan’s phone with Phyllis and Sharon’s abduction “This is the first time that she is suspicious of him,” revealed Maitland Traci is starting to see some warning signs.” As Traci’s suspicions about her lover mount absolute surprise of happiness being completely yanked out from under her it also indicates that there are threats that she feels responsible for Blaming herself for failing to see Alan’s true colors just makes Traci all the more determined “to put a stop to this and find out what the truth is,” declared the actress Maitland noted how grateful she was to play such an instrumental role in this front-burner plot “It’s definitely a generous story gift to Traci to be able to be a part of unraveling all of this,” she smiled How do you feel about Alan turning out to be a nightmare for Traci student mentorship teams She is currently doing research on her thesis where she looks at a type of therapy called behavioral activation that is highly efficacious for treating depressive symptoms Truitt is looking at it as an intervention for LGBTQIA+ young adults who experience loneliness and depression She is also looking to see if social environment impacts how effective that therapy is she decided that her direct mentor would be one the most important things to consider “When you’re applying to a Ph.D you are typically applying to work with a specific person,” Truitt said “I joke that the application process for Ph.D.s is if like children had to send out applications to be adopted.” a professor at Bowling Green State University in Ohio at the time She wanted to see if they would get along as people as well “We got along great from the start,” Truitt said “It was important for me to get a sense of the work he was doing and the speed of his research I wanted someone who was still early in their career as well His area of expertise was very close to what my interests were and he just seemed like a really cool person to work with.” Maitland’s research is focused on the bi-directional relationship between loneliness and one’s mental and physical health Maitland originally started as a psychotherapy researcher that specifically looked into a form of therapy that is characterized by an intense therapist-client relationship where therapists are encouraged to be themselves as much as possible the relationship becomes one of the closest the client has but it is constrained to the therapy context with the explicit goal of helping the client He looked into how that relationship predicted therapy outcomes and why those outcomes occurred His research eventually led him to become interested in the formation and consequences of relationships “I think we can create specific types of interactions that foster connection,” Maitland said “When you look at loneliness research But they don’t look at how specific behaviors during interactions impact us and that is really the part that I am interested in.” Maitland’s research was featured in The New York Times Magazine earlier this year where he assembled a group of self-identified lonely people to participate in some relationship-building exercises Maitland said Truitt had a lot of questions for him when they first met putting a lot of time and effort into understanding the type of persona and mentor he is “It’s actually a funny story,” Maitland said “My first interaction with Jennifer was when she accidentally sent me an email that was supposed to be for a different researcher she was applying to work with as well I was very impressed with her experiences at this stage in her career and extended an offer for her to work with me She then spent a long time interviewing me before accepting the offer.” When the opportunity for Maitland’s wife now assistant professor in the School of Education Together they figured out the logistics for their research and her Ph.D it’s typically so you can work with a very specific person,” Truitt said “I wouldn’t have moved across the country to work with Daniel the first time if he wasn’t the person I wanted as mentor He is a wonderful person who is consistent with his values UMKC also emphasizes working with communities that I am passionate about which made it a lot easier to make that transition.” Maitland was extremely pleased with her decision “I was hoping she would follow me to UMKC,” Maitland said it was very exciting and rewarding to me as a mentor.” Maitland is extremely proud of Truitt and how far she has come in her career “I am constantly proud of Jennifer," Maitland said "I am very happy with how far she has come and her constant growth Not only did she take on a very ambitious research project which isn’t common for any first-year graduate student I can’t wait to grow along with her.” Truitt was honored as one of the 10 Generation Z changemakers by the Pink with Purpose Project. national initiative presented by the partnership between The Jed Foundation and Victoria’s Secret Pink It recognizes and supports young individuals pursing projects that strengthen communities and promote positive mental health Truitt deeply values her mentorship with Maitland “Daniel’s mentorship is tremendously important to me,” Truitt said “People in mentor roles sometimes don’t know how to deal with people with unpleasant things I really value how he treats his students like adults He is also really good at giving and receiving feedback I’ve never ended a conversation without him asking if he can help me and I know he genuinely means it.” Truitt is enjoying her time at UMKC as a transfer student meeting new friends and getting to see Kansas City She stated that one of the reasons why she was interested in transferring was the potential Carnegie Research 1 or R1 designation UMKC is on track to receive “The fact that UMKC is making the push for being R1 made my decision to transfer a lot easier on top of Daniel’s mentorship,” Truitt said “I plan to go down the academia route for my career and I knew it would provide me with an environment to do the level of work I am interested in without constantly worrying about funding There are also just more opportunities at an R1 institution and I am very excited for the future of research at UMKC.” Maitland also shares similar sentiments on R1 UMKC receiving R1 means everything,” he said “That’s a huge part in why I was excited to join UMKC It comes with additional resources and prestige It allows for you to reach levels of your career you can’t otherwise It also comes with and understanding of expectations and standards that make a big difference in the scientific community.” Learn more about School of Graduate Studies Learn more about School of Education, Social Work and Psychological Sciences UMKC is an equal opportunity employer We use cookies She also detailed inviting Danielle to her own wedding in 2006, before receiving the cold shoulder years later on the Girl Meets World set “You had an attitude about it,” Maitland explained “I know there was some beef between us because I didn’t get it but definitely there was some sort of weirdness there.”  Danielle detailed that the set of Girl Meets World was stressful and she felt “ostracized” on it The 43-year-old apologized that her attitude about the vibe on set felt directed at Maitland you didn’t like the fact that I was getting a lot of attention at that time and going off in my own space and taking away that attention.” Maitland’s attention comments prompted some heated back-and-forth until Maitland explained it was what she had postulated of Danielle’s feelings at the time “I’m sorry that you thought it was about you You and I have totally different and both perfectly valid experiences.”  After some more back and forth about the Pod Meets World hosts’ relationships with Ben and Boy Meets World creator Michael Jacobs you’re trying to go at me now because of the ratings and because people will be interested.” I’m not the one who wanted to go for ratings.” Danielle and Maitland weren’t exactly on the same page when the latter’s appearance came to an end but they maintained a friendly enough goodbye “It was nice to reminisce,” Danielle said during Maitland’s send off To see where every Boy Meets World star has landed Savage played Cory Matthews on Boy Meets World which anchored ABC's TGIF lineup from 1993 to 2000 He went on to graduate from Stanford in 2004 with a degree in political science and continued to pop up on TV (Party of Five, Chuck) and the occasional indie film before reuniting with TV sweetheart Danielle Fishel to reprise their roles on the 2014 Disney Channel spin-off Girl Meets World Savage unsuccessfully sought a seat on the West Hollywood City Council in 2022 and Congress in 2024 She met first husband Tim Belusko at school, and they were married for two years before quietly divorcing in 2016. BBC Sport football news reporterPublished10 April 202552 CommentsAinsley Maitland-Niles can count stars such as Bukayo Saka Trent Alexander-Arnold and Phil Foden among his former team-mates but it is young Lyon sensation Rayan Cherki the ex-Arsenal man describes as the "best natural talent" he has ever seen Maitland-Niles and Cherki are part of a resurgent Lyon outfit who face Manchester United in the quarter-final of the Europa League at the Groupama Stadium on Thursday (20:00 BST) Lyon have ex-Premier League players in former Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette and ex-United midfielder Nemanja Matic plus World Cup winners in France international Corentin Tolisso and Argentina defender Nicolas Tagliafico "He is the best natural talent I've ever seen," he tells BBC Sport Cherki has nine goals and 18 assists in 36 games this season across all competitions but individual moments like his two mazy dribbles to set up Malick Fofana goals against Rangers or his wonderful vision to pick out striker Georges Mikautadze against PSG have made the headlines assists and dragging us up the pitch by taking people on and nutmegging them - he is a genius," adds Maitland-Niles Only three players from Europe's top five leagues - Bruno Fernandes (129) Raphinha (122) and Joshua Kimmich (113) - have created more than Cherki's 103 chances in all competitions this season And he ranks second in Ligue 1 for completed dribbles with 74 behind Paris St-Germain's Desire Doue with 79 There are also training videos of Cherki with France Under-21s where he displays equal ability to control and volley a ball with both feet "He is now working for the team off the ball and has gone to another level this season." Maitland-Niles also talks about why Arsenal are too reliant on Saka moving to France and why Lyon will show Manchester United "respect" Maitland-Niles has been a near ever-present for Lyon and played 34 matches in all competitions this season After becoming the second youngest Arsenal player to appear in the Champions League Maitland-Niles thought he would be at his boyhood club his entire life The defender had been in the Arsenal academy since the age of six and grew up supporting the club but opted to leave on a free transfer to Lyon in 2023 "Life has obviously taken a different turn," he says "I thought I'd have been in the Premier League my whole career and things obviously didn't go to plan with Arsenal "But I'm thankful to the club and they didn't put any blockages when it came to leaving But why not join another Premier League club He says: "I told my agent not to tell me which clubs were interested but just the ones with firm offers "Lyon were the first to come in and it was such a big club showing their trust and belief in me It was hard to turn down and it was a good time to try something different I was at a point where I needed to be shown a lot of love and thought it was a good fit for me I am happy with where I am at this point in time I am very happy here and enjoying every moment "I am still that same player as I was at Arsenal but now with a stronger mindset and more consistency and I know what it takes to succeed." Maitland-Niles won the FA Cup with Arsenal in 2020 A debut under legendary manager Arsene Wenger a Europa League final start under Unai Emery in 2019 winning the FA Cup with Mikel Arteta in 2020 and winning five England caps all rank among the major landmarks in Maitland-Niles' journey I watch most of our games and I lived a boyhood dream by winning an FA Cup final at Wembley for the club who he regards as a "tactical genius in Pep Guardiola's mould" "[Arteta] really studied how Pep took football to new heights as one of the best managers in the world," he says "He really studied how to break down teams and be most effective in games "Arsenal are showing that at this point not coming close enough to win the league but you can see they are making big improvements by going close two years in a row." the defender adds: "I wouldn't say there was anything special there I thought he was a tactical genius but it was an average player-manager relationship Maitland-Niles also admits it is "frustrating" the club has not followed up that FA Cup success but gives his backing to Arteta while adding star attacker Saka needs support "I think they now rely on him a bit too much and you can't expect so much from such a young player," he says "He hasn't even hit his prime yet But I think he is the driving force of the team and they miss a bit of attacking threat when he is not playing "Bukayo has become one of the world's best wingers knows how to kill off a game and he can pick his moment in a genius way." is having his breakthrough this season and could be one option to help Saka he is absolutely incredible and there is no fear in the kid," continues Maitland-Niles "He is just going at people and trying to make things happen You can see he is trying to become a leader very early in that team He is trying to cement his place which is difficult as he plays in the same positions as [Martin] Odegaard and Saka "But he has got the ability to do so as well He has the world at his feet and he just needs to take his chance." Another landmark for Maitland-Niles was winning the Conference League under Mourinho during a successful six-month loan stint at Roma "He is a really funny guy," says Maitland-Niles "The stories Jose gave us about his previous dressing rooms and how he has won cup finals and loads of different leagues - that is an experience you can take something from "There are a lot of players that would say they love him or hate him But he is a great guy and what you see is what you get." Maitland-Niles achieved European success in the Conference League for Jose Mourinho's Roma in 2022 who is becoming one of the leaders at Lyon has warned Thursday's Europa League opponents Manchester United that "people don't realise how big Lyon are" "We are a historically big club," he adds "Considering where we were last season it has been a great year but we need to be addicted to winning push for more and aim for the Champions League." Maitland-Niles also says Lyon will try to show Ruben Amorim's United side "respect but just not too much respect" He adds: "They are not having the greatest season but have players like Bruno (Fernandes) and (Christian) Eriksen can run over you if you show too much respect we'll give it our all and believe we can win." returning to England for the second leg will also prove exciting Old Trafford is nothing short of what they call it the Theatre of Dreams - it can be a dream for you but it can crush your dreams Listen to the latest Football Daily podcast To load Comments you need to enable JavaScript in your browser View comments | 52Top storiesHis stats are better but will Yamal build legacy to rival Messi 'Calamity keeper' or 'human wall' - which Donnarumma will Arsenal face Who will qualify for the Champions League as Forest draw at Palace The final series of Man Like Mobeen has arrived John Simm stars in the provocative 90s drama Warm-hearted comedy with Ben Miller and Sally Phillips Follow two ambitious river restoration projects Who has made Troy's Premier League team of the week Is the risk that Mercedes took with Antonelli paying off Trailblazer Zhao set to take snooker to 'another level' in China Zhao beats Williams in historic final - highlights VideoZhao beats Williams in historic final - highlights Alexander-Arnold leaves as modern Liverpool great - but fans will feel hurt 'Scheffler and DeChambeau wins further raise US PGA excitement levels' Match-fixing scandal to Crucible champion - fall and rise of Zhao 'We need to take a look at ourselves' - Arsenal stalling at wrong time Europa League 'papering over cracks' for Man Utd - Rooney VideoEuropa League 'papering over cracks' for Man Utd - Rooney Ask Me Anything the new BBC Sport service designed to serve you Bayern's 'James Bond' - how Kane clinched his first trophy Nine bolters with a shot of making the Lions squad How 'absolutely outstanding' Palmer 'destroyed' Liverpool VideoHow 'absolutely outstanding' Palmer 'destroyed' Liverpool Solskjaer on Besiktas Saints 'punch' favourites Leinster in game for the ages VideoVardy the best £1m ever spent - Shearer Poppy's tears Elton John & Happy Gilmore - McIlroy on Jimmy Fallon show Copyright © 2025 BBC. "Supporting people doesn’t always mean their character will align with yours," Trina said. "Sometimes, the ones you uplift only care about their own agenda. They start unnecessary drama, not for truth, but for attention—media chasers, energy usurpers. Instead of riding with you, they’d rather take the plane down just to make themselves look like the hero in the wreckage." "They lie on you when you’re at your lowest, just for the scent of a dollar," she added. "It’s a hard lesson, but one I’ve learned well. And through it, I’ve grown. Now, I look deeper at the purpose behind my support. Healing, not chaos. Elevation, not destruction." Trina finished by saying, "Real ones move with integrity. The rest expose themselves." View this post on Instagram A post shared by Trina Colette McGee (@trinamcgeeofficial) Danielle took to the comments section of her former costar's post to thank her for such a public show of support and we've come out the other side so much better because of it Trina's response came one day after Danielle and Maitland's back-and-forth over their longstanding beef became public Maitland accused her former costar of refusing to speak with her around the time Girl Meets World premiered in 2014 and unfriending her on Facebook you did send me a really nice message,’” Danielle recalled after hearing that Maitland had messaged her to congratulate her on the spinoff The two actresses went back and forth over several other details before Danielle admitted that they simply see things differently "You and I have totally different and both perfectly valid experiences," she said Keep reading to see where more Boy Meets World stars landed.. At one point, Fishel asked Ward point-blank if she “hates” the rest of the cast, including Will Friedle, Fishel’s cohost on the pod. Ward replied that she doesn’t. Instead, she said to Fishel, “I think that you hate me, because you wouldn’t speak to me on Girl Meets World the conversation turned into a full-blown argument James Sorensen/Getty ImagesIn 2013, for example, Ward sent Fishel a congratulatory message on Facebook for her engagement but realized that she and Fishel were no longer Facebook friends Fishel explained that she rarely uses the platform when she asked Friedle to send her Ward’s number so that she could apologize Fishel claimed Ward told Friedle that she would save the conversation for the podcast But the argument went deeper than Facebook Here’s the Maitland Ward and Boy Meets World cast feud Ward said Fishel had “an attitude” toward her on the set of Girl Meets World “I didn’t know if you thought I was trying to steal attention.… I was genuinely confused why we wouldn’t be good.” She continued “You didn’t like the fact that I was getting a lot of attention at that time and going off in my own space and taking away that attention.” Fishel pointed out that she was on the cover of Maxim in 2014 “I think she’s more straight-laced about things and I think she didn’t like that I was doing a lot of sexy things and getting a lot of attention for it I think that was kind of a competition for us.” “A lot of people said Danielle would hate me because I was the girl coming in set that up.” Ward said producers would tell her she’s gonna hate you because you’re the new girl and you’re tall and like After Trina McGree announced her pregnancy at age 54 in 2024, Ward speculated that it was a “publicity stunt.” Speaking to TMZ I came on just after she had had the last baby.” She continued But I read the post and stuff.… I hope that’s not a publicity stunt.” Ward also claimed there was tension because of Fishel and Friedle’s relationship with Ben Savage “I think there’s a divide too because you hate Ben and you guys hate Michael,” she said “Ben is one of the most important people I’ve ever met in my life and I can’t stand the fact that he won’t speak to us And that’s what it is: He won’t speak to us,” Friedle said “He just kind of disappeared from our lives.” At the end of the podcast episode, Fishel reiterated that she does not hate Ward. But she did conclude, “Similarly to the way she decided when Girl Meets World and all that stuff was in the press, that that was an opportunity for her to make a name for herself in cosplay play and in role-playing, she felt like this was an opportunity for her to get press by having conflict, which I am just not your girl to do that.”
