One cup of raw mango contains approximately 22.5 grams of natural sugar. This amount is higher than what’s found in many other fruits
mango is also a good source of fiber and can be paired with protein and healthy fats to help minimize its effects on blood sugar
There is no evidence that mango detoxes your body directly. However, it may support your body’s natural detox processes
mango contains digestive enzymes and fiber
While they differ in their nutritional composition
mangos are lower in calories and higher in vitamin C
whereas bananas are higher in fiber and potassium
Both fruits can be enjoyed as part of an overall healthy diet
as long as you don’t have an allergy or intolerance
If you’re actively managing your blood sugar levels
enjoy mango in moderation and combine it with a source of protein or healthy fat to minimize blood sugar spikes

Restaurant consumers love the flavor in beverages
Mango chile is an increasingly popular sweet-hot combo: juicy tropical meets fiery spice
It’s particularly popular when mango is combined with the complex fruitiness of habanero peppers
Although habaneros on their own are usually extremely spicy
the chiles are used sparingly in this combination
The growing popularity of mango with chile on restaurant menus stems from consumers’ love of bold
According to market research firm Datassential
although mango chile is found on less than 1% of U.S
menus (mostly at casual-dining and independent restaurants)
it has grown by 61% over the past four years
Fifty-five percent of the population is familiar with mango chile

The mango market is currently transitioning from Peru to Côte d'Ivoire
"It means that a lot is converging in the market
The delayed final shipments from Peru are arriving at the same time as the first cargoes from Côte d'Ivoire
and the market is struggling to absorb those volumes during these awkward sales weeks," says Joep Jongmans of Special Fruit
and this sales week includes a public holiday across much of Europe on May 1st
all contributing to wide price fluctuations
It makes these weeks particularly challenging."
there is renewed interest and consumption this season
We received good-quality mangoes from Peru
The only issue has been persistent delays throughout the season—not just in the last 2–3 weeks
"Delays were caused by problems at ports in Peru and Rotterdam
but for all containers coming from that region
especially for sensitive products like mangoes
If mangoes take three weeks to ship from Peru
you can't keep them for another three weeks on arrival
the focus is gradually shifting to the West African season
The quality of Kent mangoes from Côte d'Ivoire is promising
There is just a bit too much volume on the market at the moment
especially with Brazil still supplying not only Keitt
but also Palmer and Tommy Atkins varieties
Côte d'Ivoire has a slightly smaller crop this year
but we expect a good supply through mid-May
volumes will dip briefly before picking up again from Mali
which will begin shipping in late May or early July
but the preferred variety in Europe remains the Kent mango."

Crypto trader Avraham “Avi” Eisenberg was sentenced to four years and four months in prison Thursday for possession of child sexual abuse material
But a federal judge said he needs more time to consider Eisenberg’s request for a new trial for his October 2022 exploit of now-defunct
Solana-based decentralised exchange Mango Markets
A federal jury convicted Eisenberg
of fraud and market manipulation in April of last year for the $110 million exploit
Eisenberg exploited a flaw in Mango Markets’ design: by trading with himself to inflate the value of the protocol’s token
he was able to use MNGO perpetuals as collateral to borrow crypto worth about $110 million from the protocol’s users with “no intention of repaying them,” according to prosecutors
But Eisenberg’s attorneys promptly requested an acquittal or a new trial
The government failed to prove that Eisenberg ever committed a crime in the Southern District of New York
where he was tried; that MNGO tokens were commodities; that he manipulated the price of MNGO perpetuals; that he defrauded Mango Markets; and that he had used an interstate wire
Judge Arun Subramanian said there was a “non-zero chance” he would grant Eisenberg’s request
but added he would still sentence Eisenberg for his possession of child sexual abuse material
Eisenberg pleaded guilty to possession of more than 1,200 images and videos of child sexual abuse
which federal agents had found on his computer when he was arrested in December 2022
While Eisenberg never created or distributed such material
his possession “creates a market for these types of materials that otherwise wouldn’t exist,” a prosecutor said Thursday
attributed Eisenberg’s possession of the material to his upbringing in an ultra-orthodox Jewish community in Rockland County
and a lack of understanding of many things regarding sex.”
Talkin also implied Eisenberg had been abused himself as a child
citing “at least two situations” in which Eisenberg was the “recipient of unthinkable activity.”
Eisenberg said he has since come to realize he shared responsibility for the victim’s abuse
even if he wasn’t creating or sharing images of that abuse
His attorneys requested a sentence of three years for his possession of child sexual abuse material
Prosecutors had requested a combined sentence of six and a half to eight years for his possession of that material and for his exploitation of Mango Markets
In a statement before he delivered Eisenberg’s sentence
But courts levy an average sentence of about four years for possession of child sexual abuse material
some of the images and videos found on Eisenberg’s computer were particularly horrifying
such as those depicting children younger than two years of age
In addition to his four years and four months imprisonment
Eisenberg will serve five years of supervised release

Duolingo is now phasing out contract workers as it switches to using artificial intelligence for some tasks, a move that's part of the company going "AI-first"
but if you can't find a free option you're eligible for
Even if you can't get free access to Mango Languages through your library or another institution, you can try out a free lesson to see if it suits you
before having to pay (or even register an account)
There are more than 70 languages to choose from
and your first task is to pick the one you'd like to start learning
There's a simple slide-based approach here
so you can move at your own pace and move backwards and forwards as you like
The app also tries to explain fundamentals about a language as you go
including the way that pronunciations might change as you put more words and phrases together
You really do get to start with the basics
with straightforward lessons covering greetings and how to make yourself understood
Mango Languages also tries to get you to understand the grammar of the sentences you're saying as you progress
and the goals of each lesson are set out ahead of time
As well as being available on the web, Mango Languages also offers dedicated apps for Android and iOS
so you can learn on the go as well as when you're sitting at a desk
There are the usual configuration settings you'd expect
including timings on the slides you see and whether or not you want each slide narrated to you
As you move through the Mango Languages course
you can review your progress each day and go back to any previous lessons
and there's also the option to compare your speaking with that of a native speaker
Something Mango Languages does well is provide little cultural notes to explain how different terms are used—essential if you don't want to be offending any of the locals on your next vacation
and will sometimes ask you to work out how something should be said
Further down the line, you'll come across special lessons too: For my chosen language of German, one of them is the annual booze-up that is Oktoberfest
These can help put your language learning into more context
so you're learning about a country and its customs as well as the native tongue
and an interesting mix of exercises and challenges to help you stay engaged with learning a language—which for most of us
Both the basics of vocabulary and the more advanced ways that words are put together are well-handled

find 4 affordable pairs from Mango that this denim devotee really rates
I'd missed out on the brand's own jeans selection
colleagues and our readers adding its jeans to their baskets
I set about to see if they lived up to this denim devotee's high standards
With a history of cult buys like that winter coat, excellent linen options and a plethora of fun accessories
I'm not sure how I overlooked the brand as a hotspot for great denim
taking my regular size in all four pairs that I'm celebrating below
and a great selection of trending cuts and classic silhouettes to satiate all appetites
If you're looking to add a great pair of jeans to your capsule wardrobe that comes with an affordable price tag
with a high-rise fit and cascading wide leg shape
but at 5'2" I'm used to nipping to my local dry cleaners to take a couple of inches off a hem
The denim itself is comfortable thanks to the cut of the jeans
and is made from 99% cotton and 1% elastane for a touch of comfort
The kind of pair that can feel relaxed with slip-on sandals as well as elevated with a pair of mules and nice top
Style Notes: On the topic of denim classics
straight-leg jeans feature in all the greatest wardrobes
the straight-leg cut is one that always feels timeless and elevated
the length of this pair was just right for what I'm looking for and comes in 7 colourways
and this off-white is particularly expensive-looking
Style Notes: A prominent trend for 2025 is the barrel-leg silhouette
and this is one of my favourite pairs around
The horseshoe shape that is distinct to the cut is subtle
yet creates that relaxed feel that you often find with lived-in denim
and the fit is unrestrictive and comfortable
If you're looking to dip your toe into the barrel-leg trend in a discreet way
A more muted take on the bold balloon-leg trend
Style Notes: The first notable thing about these jeans is just how comfortable they are
this is a pair you'll be happy to wear all day and all night
you'll forget you're wearing jeans with this pair
slightly loose through the leg with a tapered finish at the ankle
I've taken my regular size hit and they fit like a glove
I can't describe just how comfortable this pair is
The black pair is ready to take on your evening looks too
The frayed hem brings an added relaxed feel to this pair
For those who prefer a low rise silhouette
A very summery pair that you'll rely on when the new season arrives
Fashion circles have declared that flares are back
I can't stop thinking about how chic they are
this pair will stand apart from your classic jeans
The pocket details on this pair are one of my favourite details

Avraham Eisenberg (LinkedIn) What to know: Avraham Eisenberg was sentenced to 52 months in prison on Thursday after pleading guilty to a charge of possession of child sexual abuse material in 2024.Eisenberg was convicted on wire fraud
commodities fraud and commodities manipulation charges last year after he exploited Mango Markets to the tune of $110 million
but a federal judge said he was considering okaying a retrial on these charges
NY — Mango Markets exploiter Avraham “Avi” Eisenberg
who stole $110 million from the now-defunct decentralized finance protocol in 2022
was sentenced to 52 months in prison on Thursday — on his guilty plea to possession of child sexual exploitation material
not for his conviction on the crypto theft
which was found on his devices after his arrest
claiming that the Department of Justice pursued the case in the wrong venue (the Southern District of New York)
that the government hadn't properly proved that the MNGO Perpetual was a "swap," that Eisenberg intended to manipulate the MNGO Perpetual's price and that his "alleged deceptions ..
Judge Arun Subramanian said he would sentence Eisenberg to more than four years in prison at FCI Otisville
a medium-security facility about two hours' drive from Manhattan
but that there was a "non-zero chance I will grant that motion" related to the Mango Markets-related charges
The bulk of any sentence would be related to the CSAM charge anyway
the only way to try to stem the tide of the distribution of this material" is through a prison sentence
The judge also said he acknowledged to Eisenberg's effort to better understand the impact of his crime
but that a prison sentence was still necessary
Eisenberg is sentenced to five years of probation with strict rules after he is released from prison
but will have to install monitoring software on all of his electronic devices and go through a drug outpatient program
I believe all of our actions were legal open market actions, using the protocol as designed, even if the development team did not fully anticipate all the consequences of setting parameters the way they are.
Prosecutors also detailed Eisenberg’s child sexual abuse material charges, telling the judge that between 2017 and 2022, he downloaded 1,274 sexually-explicit images and videos of children — including toddlers and two-month-old infants — as well as “depictions of sadistic violence and masochism against children.”
In their own sentencing submission to the court, Eisenberg and his lawyers attempted to blame his strict religious upbringing and his lifelong “struggles to conform to social norms” for his crimes, calling him a “fundamentally decent person” and detailing his challenges adapting to the “daily horrors” of life in jail.

The global mango market is navigating a complex season shaped by shifting supply
with exporters adapting to logistical pressures and fluctuating prices
Mexico's supply of red mangoes has stabilized
but yellow varieties remain limited due to smaller sizing and increased demand driven by seasonal promotions." Mexico has shipped over 23 million boxes
and continues to face weather-related impacts on the Ataulfo crop
Peru wrapped up a high-volume season early
complicated by logistical issues and overlapping competition from Brazil and Ecuador
Brazil maintains a year-round supply of Palmer and Tommy Atkins
with exports expanding to South Korea and South Africa
and local prices rising due to Tommy scarcity
Nicaragua's Tommy Atkins mango exports have grown sharply
The Dominican Republic (via Haiti) has shipped over 500,000 Mingolo boxes to the U.S.
with peak prices reaching €13.65 in South Florida
the market is currently facing a challenging transition between the Peruvian and Ivory Coast mango harvests
and logistical hurdles due to public holidays
giving confidence for the upcoming West Africa season.Italy's market is shifting from Peruvian airfreight mangoes to arrivals from Mexico
with prices falling due to overlapping supply
France is seeing weak mango demand and price pressure as overlapping arrivals from Peru and West Africa weigh on the market
Spain's Andalusian mango sector is benefiting from strong flowering
with 5,100 hectares under cultivation and 2024 production nearing 20,000 tons
Germany's market remains led by Peruvian Kent mangoes
though tropical fruit imports are expected to fall slightly amid inflation-driven demand shifts
India's season started early and was disrupted by U.S
tariffs and Red Sea-linked airfreight costs
China's Guifei mango supply in Hainan has recovered from early-season weather issues
with stabilized pricing and growing Jinhuang sales
with winter supply shifting to imports from Peru and Mozambique
Senegal's harvest start is uncertain due to erratic ripening
but 70% of production is expected from the Niaye region by mid-June
Côte d'Ivoire began its season early with strong Kent mango quality
and exports are expected to continue through July if rains hold off
exports just 11,000 tons due to limited port access
Burkina Faso began its organic campaign early to meet Ramadan demand
but global competition and high transport costs have constrained exports to Europe
North America: Short-term supply gap expected for yellow varietiesMango supply from Mexico is currently good and consistent following a recent shortage
A strong supply of red mangoes is expected
While there used to be plenty of larger fruit
sizing is now shifting toward smaller counts—18s and 20s instead of 10s
Yellow mango availability will remain spotty until harvesting transitions to newer northern growing regions in Mexico
smaller volumes are arriving from countries such as Guatemala
with availability mainly on the East Coast
Overall supply is comparable to the same period last year
with approximately 80 million lbs (36,287 metric tons) shipped this year to date
supported by promotional activity for Cinco de Mayo and upcoming events including Mother's Day and Memorial Weekend
Pricing is currently slightly higher than during the same time last year
as main destinationMexico remains the leading supplier of mangos to the United States
having shipped more than 23 million boxes through April 19
The total projected output for 2025 is 98.5 million boxes
representing a 10% increase compared to 2024
The Ataulfo variety is primarily exported from the states of Chiapas and Oaxaca
Mexico is able to produce mangos year-round
the climate has posed challenges this season
Atypical flowering occurred in January and February
The main export destination remains the United States
which receives over 80% of Mexico's mango shipments
There are also ongoing efforts to promote Ataulfo mangoes in European markets
Peru: Early start led to overlap and increased freight costsThe Peruvian mango campaign was complex but ultimately successful
Despite facing numerous logistical challenges—including container shortages
and a threatened strike in the United States—a solid export volume was achieved
resulting in an overlap with Brazil's season in the European market and Ecuador's in the U.S
This created intense competition during December and January
the Peruvian season coincided with Chilean exports of blueberries
which further strained logistics and drove up freight costs due to increased container demand
but one defined by market oversupply and significant logistical pressure
Brazil: New markets targeted as domestic prices riseBrazil continues its active mango campaign with the Palmer and Tommy Atkins varieties
Exporters have expanded their reach to Argentina and are planning air shipments to South Korea and South Africa
leading to higher prices in the domestic market
A recovery in volume is expected between June and July
Current prices for an 8 kg box are approximately USD 6 (about €5.55) in Chile and USD 4.70 (about €4.35) in Argentina
Nicaragua: Tommy Atkins drives steady shipments since FebruaryNicaragua is experiencing strong growth in its mango export campaign
having shipped 466,675 boxes through April
The total projected volume for the season is 791,575 boxes
representing a 74% increase compared to 2024
The country's entire mango production consists of the Tommy Atkins variety
with consistent shipments maintained since the end of February
Dominican Republic: High prices reported in South Florida marketAs of April 19
Haiti has exported 502,947 boxes of mangoes
with a seasonal projection of 2.3 million boxes
The country produces only the Mingolo variety
prices have reached up to USD 14.75 per box (approximately €13.65)
Netherlands and Belgium: Increased mango volumes during transition periodThe mango market in the Netherlands and Belgium is currently navigating the transition from the Peruvian season to that of Ivory Coast
we're seeing a considerable overlap in supply
Delayed shipments from Peru are arriving alongside the first consignments from Ivory Coast
and this is creating some challenges in managing the volumes
most of Europe is observing a public holiday on May 1st
we're dealing with a mix of different origins
which is leading to considerable price fluctuations
but consumer demand this season remains encouraging
and we're optimistic about the upcoming West Africa season," said an importer
Italy: Late-season airfreight mangoes still available
market adjusts to new originsThe Peruvian mango campaign is now drawing to a close and is expected to end around week 19
marking the conclusion of a season that recorded significantly higher volumes compared to the previous year
This was reported by the procurement manager of an Italian company specializing in the import and distribution of exotic and counter-seasonal fruits
strongly affected by climatic phenomena such as El Niño
which caused significant production difficulties
Brazil is also preparing for increased activity
"Brazilian production areas are showing positive developments: mango quality is good and volumes are in line with projections." The outlook for April and May remains optimistic
with stable supply and continued market interest
According to a wholesaler in northern Italy
the mango market had shown signs of recovery
overlapping supply from different origins is currently impacting the market
especially with the start of the Ivory Coast season
With the Peruvian season ending and quality issues observed in the Kent variety
there has been an almost complete shift to mangoes from the Ivory Coast
The average purchase price for sea-shipped mangoes is around €6.50 per 4-kg crate containing six to ten fruits
the arrival of multiple shipments from Brazil—mainly Palmer and Tommy varieties—has led to a decline in prices
prices have fallen to as low as €5 per crate due to slowing market demand
remain available by airfreight and are priced at approximately €5.00/kg
A 6-kg crate is being purchased for between €29 and €30
The Ivory Coast's airfreight campaign has also begun
offering Kent mangoes at slightly lower prices compared to Peru
Peruvian mangoes are still preferred while they remain available in good condition
airfreight shipments will shift entirely to West Africa
and Mexican mangoes are expected to arrive in early June
Another wholesaler in northern Italy reports that he is currently buying Peruvian airfreight mangoes of excellent quality
incoming mangoes will originate from Mexico and the Ivory Coast
Peruvian mangoes arrive by air at Madrid Airport in Spain
where a blackout on April 28 caused unloading delays of 24 to 48 hours for some shipments
France: Low demand and overlapping supply weigh on pricesThe mango market is currently at a turning point
with the Peruvian campaign coming to an end and the West African season just beginning
Peru was expected to wrap up its season earlier
The transition is proving complex due to several factors
The quality of Peruvian mangoes at the end of the season is inconsistent
the simultaneous availability of mangoes from two different origins is providing customers with more options and encouraging price competition
which is intensifying downward pressure on prices
increasing the risk of oversupply in the coming days
with current levels below average for Côte d'Ivoire and even lower for Peru
this situation is expected to be temporary
Importers are accelerating the conclusion of the Peruvian campaign
while supermarkets are planning promotional activities to sell remaining volumes quickly
These measures are expected to help stabilize the market in the coming weeks
Spain: Production area reaches 5,100 hectares across southern SpainThe abundant spring rains this year in Andalusia
have resulted in significantly stronger flowering
This may indicate a larger harvest for 2025
as the season typically begins in late August or early September
Production in 2024 showed a slight recovery compared to the previous year
yields remained well below levels recorded before 2023
due to drought and low temperatures during the fruit set period
Total mango production in Andalusia last year was close to 20,000 tons
5,100 hectares were officially registered under mango cultivation in Andalusia
4,901 hectares are currently in production
The province of Malaga accounts for the majority
with 4,598 hectares—around 90% of the region's mango-growing area—followed by the province of Granada with 472 hectares
Spanish mangoes continue to strengthen their position in the domestic market
supported by the quality seal "Mango de Málaga." This label is intended to highlight distinctive features such as optimal ripening
and greater cultivation sustainability compared to imported mangoes
Israeli fruit expected mid-MayKent mangoes of Peruvian origin continue to dominate the market
The first arrivals from Israel are expected in the second half of May
with the growing availability of European berries and stone fruits
the import volume of tropical and subtropical fruits in Germany
is projected to reach around 1.8 million tons in 2024
This represents a slight decline compared to the previous year
possibly linked to inflation and the resulting decrease in demand for exotic fruits
India: Airfreight costs impacted by Red Sea crisisThe normal shipping season for Indian mangoes runs from March to June
some fruit entered local markets earlier than usual
due to favourable weather conditions in certain growing regions
import tariffs coincided with the first air shipments of Indian mangoes to the United States
Initial uncertainty arose because the implementation mechanism for the tariffs was not fully understood
Indian mangoes have long been subject to a base import duty of 6.6 cents per kilogram
The newly announced tariffs introduced a temporary 10% rate
This increase has now been paused for 90 days
India's traditional export markets for mangoes have been the Middle East and Europe
both of which have been served for several decades but offer limited growth potential
Although India has had market access to the U.S
export volumes to the country have only begun to increase in recent years
There was a temporary halt in exports during the two years of the COVID-19 pandemic
ongoing disruptions in the Red Sea region have contributed to significant increases in airfreight rates
China: Improved supply and quality restore market balance in HainanIn Hainan
both the output and quality of Guifei mangoes—the main variety—have gradually stabilized
slightly higher than during the same period last year
A super typhoon in September of the previous year caused significant flower drop
high temperatures in the growing regions since the start of the year have hindered the development of tropical fruits
resulting in fewer mangoes meeting mid- to high-end quality standards
These factors contributed to high prices and unstable quality during the early part of the season
prices for Guifei mangoes are approximately 35% lower than during the early season and are now close to last year's levels
If temperatures continue to rise and remain steady
though significant fluctuations are not expected
The main mango varieties on the market are Guifei and Jinhuang
Jinhuang mangoes are more affordable and have been gaining market share
for consumers seeking premium gift options
tree-ripened Guifei mangoes remain the preferred choice
Despite greater caution in the business gift market in recent years
many customers are opting to reduce order volumes rather than switch away from Guifei mangoes
South Africa: Western Cape fruit still available
imports to meet winter demandThe South African mango season has concluded
except for the final harvest from the Western Cape
which follows well after the main production periods in Limpopo and Mpumalanga
a minimum 1.8 kg bag of Western Cape mangoes is currently priced at just under R100 (approximately €4.73)
the average price for mangoes is R30 per kilogram (around €1.40)
will supply the South African market through the winter months
the market will begin receiving fresh mangoes from the subregion
Senegal: Niaye region expected to produce bulk of crop in mid-JuneSenegal is known for its Kent red mangoes
but the industry has faced ongoing challenges due to fruit fly infestations and climatic disturbances
a late start to the season created major commercial difficulties for Senegalese exporters
who had to compete with mangoes from Latin America
the first harvests in the center of the country take place in May
but we still don't know when the harvest will start this season
We're not seeing consistency in ripening because of the unstable climate
What we do know is that the bulk of production
Senegalese growers are hoping to end a cycle of three consecutive seasons marked by production and marketing difficulties
"We're expecting record production and better quality this year."
Côte d'Ivoire: Kent remains top export variety amid favorable weatherIn Côte d'Ivoire
the mango season began at the end of March
The campaign started with shipments by sea
Growers report improved fruit quality this season
attributed to favorable weather conditions
The season is expected to continue until July
which could lead to increased fruit fly activity and an earlier end
Côte d'Ivoire exported 32,000 tons of mangoes from a total production of 180,000 tons
considering the high volume of mangoes available on the market and the higher prices of Ivorian mangoes compared to those from Senegal and Mali
Mali: Exports remain limited despite high production levelsIn Mali
West Africa's leading mango producer with an annual output of 800,000 tons
the mango campaign began on March 10 with the Amélie variety
Despite the country's high production levels
exports remain limited to just 11,000 tons
Mali relies on the ports of neighboring countries for export access
This year's production is reported to be stable in terms of volume
Malian mangoes are exported to several European countries
Burkina Faso: Landlocked status and global competition weigh on demandIn Burkina Faso
the organic mango export campaign began early
aiming to meet demand during the month of Ramadan
climatic conditions have been generally favorable
marked by a shorter but more intense rainy period
European demand is declining due to strong global competition
including from other West African countries
Senegal and Côte d'Ivoire benefit from direct access to the Atlantic Ocean
while Burkina Faso's landlocked position increases transport costs
which has slowed interest in West African mangoes
whereas Latin American origins have the advantage of a longer season." Despite these constraints
Morocco remains Burkina Faso's main export market
absorbing large volumes under attractive payment terms
except for the S&P 500 which is refreshed every two minutes

My Review: ICYMI, barn jackets are huge right now
am very happy that practical outerwear is having a moment
because I'm a person who doesn't often change between activities—you're likely to see me in the same outfit I wear to walk my dog as you are on my next zoom call
This means my casual and professional wardrobes intertwine quite heavily
This looks and feels much more expensive than it is
This might be the cutest bag I've ever seen
or use it to cinch in your waist when wearing a dress
A black blazer is one of the most versatile pieces you can own
This would also look great with jeans and heeled sandals
Sure, you could put it with trainers
but I think they'd make it feel too '80s—a bit costume and retro
This is my kind of professional look or "corporatecore" (known as just "corpcore" on TikTok); the kind of look that can easily be worn for a dinner after work
This bag with the purse detail on the front
as are the kitten-heels with their cute bow detail on the top

New research has uncovered a potential gamechanger for improving cardiometabolic health: fresh mangos
A study recently published in the journal Nutrients finds that eating two cups of mango
daily may help lower insulin concentration levels and improve insulin sensitivity in adults who are overweight or obese with chronic low-grade inflammation
The findings underscore how simple dietary choices could contribute to reducing the risk of chronic conditions like type 2 diabetes
The study, conducted at the Illinois Institute of Technology on 48 adults aged 20-60, examined how eating fresh mangos compared to a calorie-matched control food – Italian ices (a frozen, sweetened dessert similar to sorbet) – affected inflammation and insulin sensitivity in overweight and obese adults with low-grade chronic inflammation
The results showed that participants who ate mangos experienced significant reductions in insulin resistance
as measured by the Homeostasis Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance (HOMA-IR)
the ability of the pancreas to produce and release insulin to mange normal glucose concentrations
also significantly improved when measured using the disposition index (DI)
a key marker of how effectively the body regulates blood sugar levels
those in the mango group also had significantly lower insulin concentrations in response to an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) compared to the beginning of the study
while no changes were observed in the control group
Managing blood glucose isn't just about monitoring blood sugar levels-it's about improving insulin sensitivity
Our study suggests that adding fresh mangos to the diet can be a simple
enjoyable way for people who are overweight or have obesity to support better insulin function and reduce type 2 diabetes risk."
despite eating calorically comparable foods
body composition remained stable in the mango group
whereas the control group experienced a slight but significant increase in body weight
Additional study findings showed markers of inflammation (IL-6
hs-CRP) and glucose levels were not significantly different between the two groups at the end of the study
making mangos a heart-healthy swap for calorically comparable sweet treats
There were also no differences between interventions in fasting total cholesterol
"The improvement in insulin sensitivity in the mango group
is noteworthy – which counters misconceptions about mangos' natural sugar content and impact on obesity and diabetes," says Edirisinghe
"These findings support previous research showing that eating mango does not lead to weight gain
and while the exact mechanism is still unknown
the role of improved antioxidant status from mango consumption may be the mediating factor on blood glucose control."
These findings further reinforce the importance of fresh fruit
as part of a heart-healthy lifestyle and dietary habits that aid blood sugar control
To learn more about the nutritional benefits of mangos
Study inclusion criteria included having a BMI ≥ 25 kg/m2
high sensitivity C-reactive protein (>1.0 and <10.0 ng/L
and fasting blood sugar >100 mg/dL and <126 mg/dL
Those taking multivitamins or polyphenol supplements
following a vegan diet or having diseases related to metabolic syndrome were excluded
The mangos provided were a combination of Kent (126.9 g/serving) and Keitt (38.1 g/serving) varieties and beyond the intervention or control food
participants were instructed to keep their normal diet and lifestyle
body composition) and food pick up occurred 5 times throughout the study
and participants were required to keep three-day food records to monitor compliance
A strength of this study was its design: a 4-week randomized
parallel design conducted in free-living conditions
alongside assessments of both fasting and postprandial glycemic responses
This approach enabled a comprehensive evaluation of hepatic and peripheral insulin sensitivity
Limitations of the study included: study timing aligning with the COVID-19 pandemic which may have impacted inflammation data and interpretation of results; and the absence of measuring for mango metabolites
This study was supported through an unrestricted grant from the National Mango Board (NMB)
NMB had no influence over the study or its findings

I think I have to start by telling you that I'm not a barn jacket kind of girl
I had to Google what a barn jacket was when I saw all the influencers on Instagram and TikTok telling me it was the jacket of the season
I filmed a little video of me in the trending Mango barn jacket - watch it below
Side note: Mango has the best fitting rooms out of the entire high-street
But as soon as I had on the barn jacket I looked ready for action
Some might say I look ready for a shift down the farm
but those people just don't understand fashion
We all know how popular Claudia's fashion was on the show
and I could totally see her roaming around the castle grounds wearing this barn jacket
durable outerwear originally designed for use in farming or outdoor work
relaxed fit and is made from heavy materials like canvas
often with a quilted or flannel lining for warmth
It's all about the collar on a barn jacket
as they usually feature a corduroy or leather collar
some might say they've never gone out of style
this is a trend that's come from the runway
Miuccia Prada sent models down the Prada spring/summer 24 catwalks wearing barn jackets with evening wear
Look at how Alexa Chung styled her barn jacket while at Glastonbury - she looks cool in everything
I'll definitely be trying out this look while the sun's still out
Seeing this photo of Princess Kate's barn jacket made me realise how similar it was with my version
I'm typically a size 12/14 in a jacket with this kind of fit
I had heard on one of the many Instagram videos I'd seen about this jacket that it came oversized
I don't really like super oversized fits on me as I'm only 5ft3
and I don't like to look like I'm drowning in material
I am super happy with the size small on me
I decided to take it home because I love wearing trainers these days and this kind of casual
functional fashion item suits styling with trainers or flat boots
I really like the colour of this barn jacket
beige can be a little draining on some skin colours
This is the other barn jacket that may well go viral on TikTok
Anthropologie is always great at taking trends and making them look cool
This one is expensive but if it's a jacket you believe you'll get a lot of wear from
I've seen this coat in-store and it's such a good find - and the price point is good
While it still has a heritage-inspired look
boxy silhouette feels a lot more modern.
The best bit might be that it features the brand's water-repellent Stormwear finish which helps to protect you from light rain showers.
If you're looking for timeless Barbour jacket for spring/summer
stylish and features a distinctive cord collar
multi-entry pockets and branded stud fastening.
If you're after a cream barn jacket in sturdy cotton denim
With a corduroy collar and buttons down the front
this loose fit jacket will be the transitional item you need in your wardrobe.
How chic is this barn jacket from Everlane
I love that it comes in black as well - just in case the 'cornstalk' shade isn't for you.
It is stylish and comfortable and works both with jeans and dress pants."
If you're on the hunt for more of a showerproof barn jacket
this khaki ASOS jacket is a real winner for low-key dressing.
This loose-fit brown barn jacket has been designed with a corduroy collar and dual side pockets
This simple jacket from River Island comes in a stone-hue for a cool look
and has a contrasting collar to get the barn jacket look.
With a zip fastening and two large pockets
this is a great jacket to try the trend and layer over your favourite cashmere knit
Barbour is the king of the affordable outdoors jacket and this one ticks so many boxes

the peel usually gets tossed without a second thought
What if we told you the humble mango peel has more to offer than just being discarded
and sometimes resinous depending on the variety
Allergic reactions: Some people may react to compounds in mango skin – especially those with sensitivity to poison ivy or cashew skin
If you’ve had itching or rashes while peeling mangoes
Pesticide concerns: Conventionally grown mangoes may have pesticide residues on the skin
Salt and turmeric soak: Soak mangoes in a bowl of water with 1 tsp salt and ½ tsp turmeric for 10–15 minutes
Baking soda bath: Mix 1 tbsp baking soda in a bowl of water
Vinegar wash: Soak mangoes in a 1:3 solution of vinegar and water for 15–20 minutes
Scrub and rinse: Use a soft brush or cloth to gently scrub the skin under running water
Nutritional benefits of mango peel Here’s what makes mango skin nutritionally interesting:
High in fibre: It supports digestion and gut health
has anti-inflammatory and anti-ageing properties
Supports skin health: Carotenoids and vitamin E in mango peel may help promote healthy
Potential blood sugar benefits: Early studies show mango peel extracts may support blood sugar regulation
How to eat mango peel (without cringing) Eating mango skin raw may not appeal to most
but there are creative ways to use mango peel in food:
A traditional solution to food waste in many Indian kitchens
Ingredients Peel of 2 ripe mangoes (washed well) 1 green chilli 1 tbsp grated coconut A small piece of ginger Salt to taste
Preparation Grind all ingredients into a coarse paste
Temper with mustard seeds and curry leaves if desired
Sun-dried mango peel powder Dry the peels in the sun (or oven) until crisp
then powder and use in smoothies or spice blends for a tangy kick
Add to smoothies (in moderation) Use a small piece of the peel blended with ripe mango
It boosts fibre and adds mild bitterness—great if balanced well
Fermented mango peel vinegar Peels can be fermented into a mildly fruity
Infuse in water or tea Drop a piece of clean mango peel in hot water or green tea for a subtle flavour and a hint of antioxidants
Mangoes are arriving too early in the market
The mango pickle doesn't last through the year
The mango plant is flowering too early," are some of the anecdotal conversations about mangoes in India over recent years
This raises questions about potential links to higher temperatures
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD)
the Annual Climate Survey of 2024 indicates a +0.65°C rise above the 1991–2020 average
marking 2024 as the warmest year since 1901
IMD data reveals that the last 12 years have been warmer
deviating from historical temperature fluctuations
While anecdotal evidence suggests climate impacts on mango productivity
empirical data from India's Horticulture Department shows variability
productivity ranged from 5.5 MT/Ha in 2008–09 to 9.7 MT/Ha in 2017–18
surpassing China's 8.74 MT/Ha and Thailand's 8.36 MT/Ha
The Agricultural Market Intelligence Centre at Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University reports increased mango cultivation
acreage rose by 2.34% to 2.401 million hectares
compared to 20.87 million tons from 2.346 million hectares the previous year
Environmental stress from higher temperatures remains under study
spongy tissue disorder will be seen," notes Naga Harshita Devalla from the College of Horticulture in Hyderabad
highlight genetic diversity in mango production in response to climate change
"Mangoes possess physiological mechanisms that allow them to adjust and thrive in diverse and demanding environments," states their research

Mangoes are available only for a few months a year
so many fans of the fruit decide to turn a blind eye towards the little weight one might gain upon eating the king of fruits
high oxalate content and more are often touted as reasons to limit its intake in summer
many struggle to battle nostalgic childhood memories
and its potential to satisfy cravings more than ever
there are ways to relish the food without gaining weight
You must add it 'smartly' to your weight loss diet
pair it with protein or fat sources like walnuts
as our metabolic rate is high after an exercise session
3) Do not overload yourself with fruit at a time
the serving load should fit into your hands
4) Eat the fruit as it is instead of making milkshakes
which is then quickly absorbed into the body
Many nutritionists like Rujuta Diwekar have also explained why mangoes should not be kept out of our summer diet
A few of the reasons are: 1) They are local foods that our bodies are familiar with
they are genetically compatible with our bodies and cannot harm us
a mango a day will help diabetes stay at bay
mangoes help with insulin sensitivity and are even recommended by the Mayo Clinic and the American Diabetes Association

Clark police dog has become a comforting presence on campus
Clark University’s newest police recruit wants you to know that he’s happy to see you
he might even let you scratch him behind the ears
Mango is a 2-year-old miniature goldendoodle who travels around campus with his handler
Detective Evan Gaylord of the Clark University Police Department
Mango completed his training to become a certified therapy dog — and joined the department as its first official comfort dog
“I had wanted a big dog,” he laughs
“but we picked out Mango” — who is about a foot tall and weighs 12 pounds
Mango’s training began with “puppy kindergarten” for socialization
followed by intermediate obedience and “Canine Good Citizen” training
where he learned to interact with people and other dogs and to behave in situations with busy crowds
“We went to parks and baseball games
I took him to the Concert on the Common in Sturbridge
and all around campus,” Gaylord says
After successfully completing Therapy Dog Team Training at Animal Assisted Therapy Services in Millbury — an in-depth program that exposed Mango and Gaylord to different types of real-world situations they may encounter — Mango earned his therapy dog certification
Mango’s primary role as police comfort dog is “to say hi to everybody and just make people feel good,” Gaylord says
“People are welcome to stop by the department to see him if they’re having a bad day
Everyone could use some comfort now and then.”
He doesn’t go on every call with Gaylord
but he eventually may start attending less urgent mental health calls to provide support
“If it will help someone to just sit and hang out with Mango
Clark students have been thrilled to meet Mango (he acknowledges that not everyone is a dog lover)
Police Chief Lauren Misale says the idea of bringing a comfort dog to the department has been under discussion for a while
While Mango will mainly be on campus with Gaylord
such as local schools or health care settings
and is a frequent visitor to AdCare Hospital in Worcester
“A lot of people laugh when they see him riding in the cruiser with me and realize he’s a police dog,” Gaylord says
“They picture a German Shepherd or a Bloodhound

Regular Mango Consumption Linked to Improved Insulin Sensitivity and Glucose Control in Overweight Individuals in sentence case
Study: Mango Consumption Is Associated with Increased Insulin Sensitivity in Participants with Overweight/Obesity and Chronic Low-Grade Inflammation
A recently study published in Nutrients reports that the regular consumption of mangoes may improve inflammation
Chronic low-grade inflammation is associated with an greater risk of developing metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) due to associated blood glucose dysregulation
thereby increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease
which affects 12.5% of the global population
is characterized by low levels of inflammation
About 6% of obese individuals are also diagnosed with T2DM
with 9% considered pre-diabetic due to the presence of abnormally high blood glucose levels
Obese individuals who lose 5-10% of their body weight can experience significant improvements in their metabolic status and inflammation. Likewise, the incorporation of anti-inflammatory food products can also help manage metabolic disease
Regular mango consumption is associated with lower body weight
as well as better diet quality and glucose tolerance
few studies have examined how mango consumption contributes to blood glucose regulation
The current study determined the effect of regular mango intake on chronic low-grade inflammation and insulin sensitivity in obese or overweight people
48 obese or overweight people with a mean age of 37.6 years were enrolled in a randomized controlled trial
All study participants completed a two-hour oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) at baseline
study participants were randomized to consume one cup of either mango or a control product in their diet twice daily for four weeks
OGTT was repeated at the end of the intervention period.
Regular mango consumption did not significantly affect any inflammation marker including interleukin (IL)-6
Body weight increased in the control group after the intervention but not individuals who consumed mangos
The average fasting glucose levels did not significantly change with mango intake
Fasting insulin levels were lower after four weeks in those who consumed mangos as compared to controls beginning from week one and persisting after the end of the intervention
Insulin levels were lower four weeks after beginning the intervention in the mango-consuming group as compared to controls and their baseline levels
No change in insulin levels was observed in the control group
The Homeostasis Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance (HOMA-IR) measures insulin response in the liver
which produces glucose in the fasting state
which assesses pancreatic beta cell function
was also measured to determine the extent to which mango consumption affected glucose levels
Both HOMA-IR and DI scores significantly and consistently improved in the mango intake group
HOMA-IR and DI scores were 2.3 and 2.8 in the mango group
Systemic insulin resistance was reduced after mango intake; however
the difference between the groups was not significant
Despite a two-fold increase in the expression of the nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf-2) gene
this effect was not statistically significant
The relative expression of Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) and TLR4
both of which are involved in cellular responses to different pathogens
did not significantly change following mango consumption
The study findings suggest that regular mango consumption improves glucose regulation by increasing insulin sensitivity at the hepatic and pancreatic levels
thus reducing the amount of insulin required to maintain normal glucose levels
The improved glycemic control may be due to more effective endogenous antioxidant activity
which is related to higher insulin sensitivity
The improved glycemic control in mango consumers supports previously reported findings
the lack of significance in several parameters could be due to the relatively short study duration
The data support consuming mango fruit as part of a dietary pattern to address insulin resistance and warrant further research to understand the mechanisms underpinning the actions of mango intake.”

The arrival of this store marks a milestone in the growth strategy of Mango Home
which since its launch in 2021 has more than doubled in size
consolidating its presence in 34 online markets
This opening is part of the 4E 2024-2026 Strategic Plan
through which the company seeks to strengthen its positioning in the home sector and improve the shopping experience in its physical and digital channels
Mango's home line has reinforced its value proposition based on design and quality
After incorporating the decoration and homeware categories last year
the company now incorporates new references for all rooms in the home
lighting and a textile collection for baby and kids
The line is also completing its value proposition with new unique products resulting from collaborations with artisans
A concept store that reinterprets the home
Mango Home was founded with the ambition of translating the Mediterranean lifestyle into interior design and in response to the host spirit of its founder
who wanted everyone to feel at home in Mango stores.

At Mango Home we want to help our customers create unique spaces
with pieces designed to excite and last over time
This store is a reflection of our commitment to design
quality and craftsmanship," Nuria Font concludes
