celebrated his 28th birthday dinner with his family on Dec
Detectives blamed Deltoro for his 60-year-old mother’s death during a fight with his father at their home in Margate
his manslaughter trial started in Broward County Circuit Judge Lorena V
Deltoro was “a bit frantic” after the shooting
Richard Bravo-Brown said during his testimony in court
jurors watched a video showing Deltoro’s interrogation at the Margate Police Department before his arrest on Dec
After the detective asked if he had pulled out the gun to scare his father during the fight
Prosecutors said the conflict started when Deltoro allegedly elbowed his father in the face to stop him from singing while he was driving them home after dinner and it escalated at home after he threw a water bottle
the argument in the car had escalated to a fight at home when Deltoro’s glasses fell off and he grabbed a 9mm Glock
Deltoro said he “pulled out the firearm but did not mean to discharge it,” Cobban wrote
while physically trying to stop him and his father from fighting
Prosecutors filed a case against him on Dec
a first-degree felony; carrying a concealed firearm
County court records show his arraignment was on Jan
and Broward County Sheriff’s Office correctional deputies released him a day later on a $40,000 bond
The World Health Organization declared the pandemic on March 11
and the public health emergency delayed court cases
Deltoro’s defense claimed it was a self-defense shooting because he saw his father reaching for a gun
but the judge sided with the prosecution and denied the Stand Your Ground motion to dismiss the case

Don't panic if you see a demolition crew near Lucy the Elephant
The popular pachyderm in Margate isn't going anywhere
workers are to raze and replace an outdated gift shop and visitor center next to the tourist attraction
This new building is expected to open at the site by next year's third quarter
executive director of the Save Lucy Committee
Shore security: Wildwood plans new safety measures for summer 2025
The replacement "will include a bigger gift shop
and spaces for everyone to learn about Lucy’s history," according to the committee's website
That history includes the surprising facts that Lucy
initially stood several blocks away in Margate — and wasn't named Lucy
A Philadelphia real estate developer named James Lafferty commissioned the six-story structure
to draw attention to a largely vacant area between the beach and Atlantic Avenue at Cedar Grove Avenue
when the building held a short-lived tavern
according to history compiled by members of the committee
The Gertzen family in 1970 donated the elephant
then described as "nearly derelict" and facing demolition
The building then was moved several blocks to its current location
a city-owned lot at Atlantic and Decatur avenues
The now-restored elephant was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1976
the committee has moved its gift shop and visitor center operations into a temporary home at a former bank office at Atlantic and Washington avenues
The committee recently purchased the 2,200-square-foot site
will be the long-term location for administrative offices
"It will also serve as storage and a warehouse for merchandise being sold in the gift shop
And it will be where our board meets," he said
the interim location will sell Lucy mementos
souvenirs and tickets for guided tours through "the only elephant in the world you can walk through and come out alive!"

This house on the Bayshore Lagoon defines modern luxury
And that makes it a bargain by Jersey Shore standards
This unapologetically modern house at 8205 Lagoon Dr.
NJ 08402 stands out from the crowd at the Jersey Shore
And it’s as outstanding on the inside as it is on the outside
/ Photography by Lucas 360 Tours via BHHS Fox & Roach Realtors and *Southern Jersey Shore Regional MLS (including this photo)
I nearly swooned when a publicist sent me this “Jawdropper of the Week” candidate for my consideration
That’s because the only thing this Margate waterside modern house for sale lacks that I would want is a roof deck from which I could watch the sunset over Shelter Island Bay
Because this house sits not on the bay itself but on the Bayshore Lagoon
I couldn’t do that from its commodious rear patio — all I’d see would be the rear patios of the other houses facing it
this house is as close to perfect as I could imagine
It has so many luxurious amenities built in that I would want for nothing other than more restaurants within walking distance
This house is also one of those rare Jersey Shore birds in being purely
The second-floor hallway crosses it on a bridge that separates it fron the equally soaring living room
A two-story-high greenhouse window on its lagoon side offers a fabulous view of the water
The living room shares its double-sided fireplace with the family and dining rooms
which are on the left relative to the front door
The family room is designed for movie nights with its built-in media center
That cabinet has room enough for a ginormous flat-screen TV
a wall of windows and sliding doors leading to the rear patio
You’ll also find sliding doors to the patio at the back of the breakfast room to the living room’s right
Here you will also find a dry bar with a wine fridge
That wine fridge is one of the high-end Cove and Wolf appliances found in the kitchen
The kitchen also has a large island with bar seating
The hurricane shutters on the kitchen windows add a nice nautical touch to what might otherwise look just as comfortable hanging out on the Main Line as it does sitting here
The second floor contains three of the four bedrooms
(The guest bedroom and a full bath serving it are on the first floor
The primary bedroom includes a sitting area
a balcony overlooking the patio and lagoon
a big-screen TV mount that swivels so you can watch from either the bed or the sectional
Besides the banquette between its dual vanities
A second-floor hall bathroom serves the other two bedrooms
The patio in back is designed for outdoor fun and entertaining
it comes with a fully equipped outdoor kitchen
You should be able to store your water toys in the large two-car garage
it looks like there should be a second balcony over that garage
But none of the interior photos of this Margate waterside modern house for sale indicate any way to access the garage roof
(You may want to consider adding such access
but check to make sure the roof can support the extra weight first.)
This house sits near Margate’s southern end
a few doors from the Downbeach Express toll causeway across Shelter Island Bay
That means getting to it from the mainland is a cinch
The property data sheet lists no construction date
but I would estimate that this house dates back no further than 2000
If modern style is your thing as much as it is mine
this Margate waterside modern house for sale should be exactly what you want in your summer retreat
And it has another feature that makes it even more attractive: its sale price
I’d say it’s a bargain by Jersey Shore standards
