Marvin Harrison Jr. was a sought-after prospect in last year’s NFL Draft and there’s a reason why
Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon expects a massive jump in Year 2
Harrison Jr. was NFL-ready while he played at Ohio State
And if he’s anything like his Hall of Fame father
the Cardinals will have another legendary wide receiver in their franchise’s history
the Cardinals have quietly put together a solid free agency and draft class going into the 2025 season
As a rookie, Harrison Jr. pulled up 62 catches for 885 yards, eight touchdowns and 14.3 yards per catch. Expect those numbers to go up.

“He came up to me — I normally meet with guys about their developmental plan when we’re done with the year — when I had my meeting with him, he came up to me and he handed me a piece of paper,” Gannon said. “It wasn’t me handing him a piece of paper. But we knew that. The guy’s a ready-made pro. He does all the right things.
“He was here the whole offseason. He skipped out one week, he went and trained with a bunch of different receivers, but he was here the whole offseason. I think he added a little bit of muscle mass. He looks a little bit bigger. All his numbers, his metrics are all better than when we got him. I’m not gonna speak truth into the universe, but just wait until this guy plays this year.”
If Gannon puts this into the universe, maybe he’ll jink Harrison! Well, barring injury, it seems like the former Buckeyes’ star is bound for NFL stardom out in the desert.

Estrada, a member of Canada's national team in his amateur days, is trying to make a name for himself as an up-and-comer to watch in a division that often gets overlooked in the United States.
The 19-year-old Estrada, 2-0 (1 KO), turned pro in 2024 and has subsequently fought twice in Nicaragua. Now, Estrada, originally from London, Ontario, Canada, is in the Wild Card Boxing gym with some of the top young prospects in the lower weights, including such standouts as Steven Navarro and Andy Dominguez.
“His dad was contacting us, saying, 'Take a look at this guy,’ asking if we would like to train him,” Somodio told BoxingScene about how he was linked up with Estrada. “I said, ‘Send him over and we will see.’”
Although Estrada has no upcoming fight date, he has been a fixture in the gym, staying sharp by sparring others who are in camp. Last month, Navarro got his first win of 2025, stopping Juan Esteban Garcia. Dominguez is currently preparing for a fight on May 9 against Nelvis Rodriguez in New York City.
“It was tough work, but we did our best and got a good outcome,” Estrada told BoxingScene. “I get excited when I get hard sparring. I like boxing. I love boxing, so I get excited about this type of stuff.”
Estrada affectionately calls Somodio “one of the best coaches in the world” and says he has learned a great deal working with Navarro and Dominguez.
“They're great boxers, and I'm very appreciative of their support,” he said.
The way his division is shaping up, an eventual career leap may require a much more significant trip than even Ontario to L.A. The junior flyweight division’s influx of talent from East Asia and the greater interest and opportunity available for smaller fighters in Japan could woo him across the Pacific.
“Oh yeah,” Estrada said. “That would be a dream come true to fight over there.”

Becoming more efficient is step one for Harrison to make strides in Year 2

Marvin robs Quan. After he gets the jewelry in the safe, he removes his mask. Quan identifies him as Raq’s brother before Marvin kills him.
B-Rilla meets with Kenyatta and Julius after they botched robbing Lowell and emptying out his safe. Now that they realize they killed Lowell’s tenant instead, they want to finish the job. When B-Rilla says he doesn’t want to do this since the police were alerted, Julius accuses him of being afraid. And Kenyatta tells him he doesn’t have a choice. He will help willingly or be forced to.
Kanan and Juke grab a bite to eat. Juke came under the impression that Kanan knows who killed Famous and would tell her. When he tells her he believes Raq did it, she finds this hard to believe. But he reminds her that she was behind D Wiz’s death despite caring about him. He saw Raq giving money to the police. So it’s possible she paid dirty cops to take out Famous.
Unique learns of Quan’s death and concludes that Raq is behind it to destroy his business. O-Cee begs Unique to give him cash to leave New York because Kanan likely knows he’s been helping him. Unique kills O-Cee.
B-Rilla comes clean to Lou Lou about the situation involving Lowell and Kenyatta. He doesn’t know what to do and the stress is making it hard for him to record music.
Unique wants to hit back at Raq by going after the restaurants she uses. However, his associate says Russo wants them to stay put for now. Not long after, a detective walks in to ask about Ronnie and Howard’s deaths. He suspects Unique killed both.
Kanan speaks to Snaps and Pop about wanting to use their connections at the police department to find out Famous’ killer. The streets are saying dirty cops are responsible. But he wants to know who made the call. He’s shocked when he learns Quan was killed and some suspect Raq put in the hit.
Marvin visits Early to see how Stefano’s booking business has been going. He tells Marvin he and his cousin Londell handled the Italian guy who was giving him trouble by taking him out. The deceased man refused to hand over the money he owed Stefano. After Marvin says he shouldn’t have done this because that man was very connected, Early says Marvin has some blame because he told him to “handle it.”
Jukebox goes to O-Cee’s place to find out if any of his family members know his whereabouts. His older brother answers the door and attempts to rape Juke. She pulls a gun on him and learns O-Cee has been missing for a week.
Unique meets with Russo in hopes that he’ll green light hitting back Raq now that their connect Quan is dead. But Russo doesn’t care and reminds Unique to pay him regardless. He has no interest in going after Raq because it’s not his business being destroyed.
Pop and Snaps talk to their cop connects. It turns out they were the ones who tasked the two officers to kill Famous. They worried his lyrics would put them on cops’ radar so they wanted him dead. But the sloppiness of the job done is causing too much speculation.
Lou attempts to talk Kenyatta and Julius into leaving B-Rilla alone. They refuse and make threats, taunting Lou about giving up his life of crime.
Marvin comes clean to Raq about his dilemma with Early. She is furious that he is involved in something that could ruin the business arrangement they have with Stefano.
Unique approaches Snaps and Pop with an invitation to work together. He needs a new connect with Quan out. Plus, he thinks Snaps and Pop can help him broker peace between Stefano and Russo. But this is something they need to think on.
Stefano asks Marvin if he knows anything about the slaying of his friend (whom Early killed). Marvin says he knows nothing and Stefano promises to take out whoever is responsible. Marvin ends up killing Londell later himself in an attempt to fix the mess.
Kanan and Juke find out O-Cee’s body was recently found. Kanan visits his mother to offer condolences. She’s devastated and no one will talk about who pulled the trigger.
At Kanan’s request, Krystal gets on the bus to leave New York for her safety. However, Pop and Snaps’ crooked cops who killed Famous pick her up for questioning.
Julius and Kenyatta sit outside the studio, waiting for Lou Lou and B-Rilla to leave so they can kill both. Unfortunately for them, Lou was two steps ahead. He kills them and walks away with a grin on his face.

That’s Terrence Howard talking about gay men while explaining why he never portrayed singer Marvin Gaye onscreen.
Television
“Empire” star Terrence Howard says he’s “done pretending” and plans to retire from acting soon
He planned at one point to portray Gaye in a movie helmed by “Empire” executive producer Lee Daniels, Howard told Bill Maher on the “Club Random” podcast released Sunday
Then he was taken out to dinner and asked to star in a movie about the life of Smokey Robinson — by Smokey Robinson himself
Howard had to turn the “Cruisin’” singer down because he was “being faithful” to Daniels
“The biggest mistake I made in my career,” Howard told Maher as the two were getting high together
The actor didn’t say exactly when this went down
I had to tell them [no] at the table and it broke his heart.”
Maher called it “a shame” because he said Gaye’s life story was much more dramatic
Television
What is the secret to the success of Fox’s “Empire”
“I’m sorry, drama’s drama, and there’s a lot more drama in getting killed by your dad,” the “Real Time” host said
that’s much more interesting and Marvin Gaye
you would have been perfect as Marvin Gaye
And that is a story that needs to be told.”
Then Howard, who has been married four times, to three different women, decided to explain why he also didn’t play the twice-married “Sexual Healing” singer
“I was over at Quincy Jones’ house — and I’m not dropping names
I’m just giving credibility about what I’m saying — I’m asking Quincy
Insert mic drop here. Gaye told a biographer in 1982 that he wasn’t interested in men and the singer’s younger sister Zeola Gaye was not at all pleased when Jones alluded to her brother’s sexuality in a 2018 interview.

‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ alumna Jiggly Caliente, who was also a judge on ‘Drag Race Philippines,’ died shortly after her right leg was partially amputated due to a ‘severe infection.’
“They would have wanted to do that and I wouldn’t have been able to do that,” Howard said.
“You mean, you couldn’t kiss a guy on screen in a movie?” Maher asked.
“No, ‘cause I don’t fake it,” the Oscar-nominated “Hustle & Flow” actor replied. “That would f— me. I would cut my lips off. If I did that I would cut my lips off.”
After the host admitted that, well, he couldn’t kiss a man either — “It does not make me homophobic to not want to kiss a man,” Maher said, “just like lots of gay men are like, ‘p—, yuck.’” Howard expanded on his reasoning.
Terrence Howard came out on top Monday — but not unscathed — when a Los Angeles judge tossed out the actor’s 2012 divorce agreement with second wife Michelle Ghent.
“Do what you love, but don’t do it at me, don’t aim it at me,” the actor said. “And I can’t play that character 100%. I can’t surrender myself to a place that I don’t understand.”
The actor, who played patriarch Lucious Lyon for six seasons on “Empire,” declared in 2019 that he was done with acting, “done pretending.” Since then, he’s done eight movies and two miniseries.

I had the honor of meeting Marvin a little over a year ago
He always smiled at me and was such a caring man
He will forever hold a special place in my heart!
Sending love and prayers to the entire family during the upcoming times ahead
Your caring and thoughtfulness meant so much to Dad
His grandfather JK Hawes delivered me and was my family’s doctor along with his father
We fished and got into trouble together in Columbus
Argie I am so sorry to hear of his passing
Hawes from my time at WPCC; deep sea fishing off the NC coast
Christmas parties at his house and many Biology lectures
Glad to here he has reunited with his love ones and may God comfort the ones that remain here
I had the honor to teach along his side in the science department at WPCC
Dick was so good to me personally and to my Criminal Justice Department at the college…He always supported my student fundraisers and was quite respectful…thanks Dick for your friendship and providing us with Christmas trees……Peace…Danny Dixon
but I truly regret never having the opportunity to meet him
I was taken in by not only his accomplishments
how he incorporated others into his favorite things while teaching them at the SAME TIME
That was absolutely hilarious and genius at the same time
he asked which fishing hole his dad was at
God bless y’all and may his memories ease your sad days and give y’all a beautiful smile

Speaking to Bill Maher on the host’s Club Random podcast
Howard said that the “biggest mistake” of his career was turning down the lead role in a potential Smokey Robinson biopic
something he did because he was already in talks with Empire cocreator Lee Daniels about playing another musician
Jones alleged that Gaye was one of several famous men who slept with Marlon Brando: “He’d fuck anything
he could no longer entertain the idea of following through with the project
and I wouldn’t have been able to do that,” said the actor
“You mean you couldn’t kiss a guy onscreen in a movie?” Howard replied
Howard maintained that he bowed out of the project because he knew he wouldn’t be able to fully “play that character 100%—I can’t surrender myself to a place that I don’t understand.”
“I’ve lost businesses because I don’t bend over in that way
I don’t kiss a man,” said the Iron Man star

Vanity Fair has reached out to reps for Daniels for comment on Howard’s version of events
Maher, who has received criticism from figures such as Larry David for praising Trump as “gracious and measured” after visiting with the president late last month
“You just can’t send American citizens…right to a prison
and not just a prison—a gulag,” Maher said
which he described as a “studio’s nightmare and every actor’s wet dream.”

Kendall Valenzuela runs through the fantasy football-relevant offseason NFL news, including updates on George Kittle, Marvin Harrison Jr.
and while many are preparing Star Wars-themed and Cinco de Mayo celebrations this weekend
Here are some news items with a sizable fantasy football impact going into the 2025 season
Yes, that's right! George Kittle got paid and we didn't have to wait until days before the NFL season started for the news
He announced this week that he signed a four-year contract extension that will keep him with San Francisco 49ers through the 2029 season
which includes $40 million in guaranteed money
This makes him the highest-paid tight end in NFL history
Kittle will turn 32 in October and is entering his ninth season with the 49ers
but most fantasy managers know he is coming off one of his best seasons
Kittle ranked third among tight ends in receiving yards (1,106)
tied for second in touchdowns (8) and was first in yards per reception (14.2)
He also has the second-most yards ever for a tight end through eight seasons
The big question now for the 49ers is what will quarterback Brock Purdy's new contract look like
Per The Athletic's Dianna Russini
the 49ers and Purdy are "inching closer" to a deal that would make him one of the 10 highest-paid players in the NFL by average annual value
I mean listen, you already know I'm going back to the Kyler Murray hype train for 2025 so why not include Marvin Harrison Jr
but finished 37th in catches and 30th in both yards and fantasy points (41st in PPG)
but he has come out and said that his injury was still bugging him during the beginning of the season
I am going to believe that Harrison's 62 receptions
885 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns is his floor
even if it's from Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon
Here's what he said in a recent interview with Adam Schein on Mad Dog Sports Radio:
I think that’s where guys make a huge jump … And this guy played unbelievable ball for us
I need to get better at these couple of things
I’m not going to speak truth into the universe
but just wait until this guy plays this year.”
In a recent roundtable
most Fantasy Life analysts have Harrison around WR21 because his 2024 target share
and PFF grade all align with ideal WR2 output
Browns sign Diontae Johnson
No, no, you definitely read that name right. The Cleveland Browns reached agreement on a one-year contract with Diontae Johnson—yes
the player who came with a ton of drama in 2024
just remember he is leading a pretty awful offense that ranked just 28th in QB fantasy points
Bills sign Elijah Moore
The Buffalo Bills signed Elijah Moore to a one-year deal worth up to $5 million. He's coming off a career-high 61 passes for 538 yards and 1 touchdown last season for the Cleveland Browns. I like that the Bills have given Josh Allen another weapon in this offense
but he'll be competing for more of that depth role
but I'm only snagging him in deeper fantasy leagues if it makes sense
The American actor told Bill Maher’s podcast that he had asked Quincy Jones about the singer’s sexuality and felt he couldn’t ‘play that character 100%’
The actor Terrence Howard has said that he declined the role of Marvin Gaye in a film
because he didn’t want to kiss another man
Speaking to Bill Maher on his Club Random podcast
the actor said the “biggest mistake” of his career was turning down the leading role in a separate biopic of the singer Smokey Robinson – which Robinson had personally asked him to play
That decision was made because he was already in talks with the director Lee Daniels to play Gaye in a film
but became alarmed when he began to learn of rumours about the Let’s Get It On singer’s sexuality
“I was over at Quincy Jones’s house,” Howard told Maher
‘I’m hearing rumours that Marvin was gay’ and I’m like
Howard said that this meant he could no longer star in the film
and I wouldn’t have been able to do that.”
Maher clarified: “You mean you couldn’t kiss a guy on screen in a movie?” to which Howard replied: “No
Howard went on to say that “it does not make me homophobic to not want to kiss a man,” and sought to clarify that he would have felt unable to sufficiently commit to the role
I can’t surrender myself to a place that I don’t understand.”
He did not publicly comment on his sexuality
He won a Grammy for his 1982 hit Sexual Healing
Other landmark LPs include What’s Going On (1971) and Let’s Get It On (1973)
was Oscar-nominated for his role as a pimp in the 2005 film Hustle & Flow and starred for five years in the TV show Empire
He announced his retirement in 2022 but has since appeared in a number of other projects on the big and small screen
Maher was the target of an essay written by Larry David in the New York Times last week
spoofing his fawning account of a dinner party at the White House with Donald Trump

“To me belonging is about building community, and I have definitely found that within Vanderbilt Athletics and in other parts of campus,” said Marvin, a medicine, health and society major
she created a special group to build connection and understanding
“I founded an Athlete Ally chapter here at Vanderbilt in 2022, and it’s near and dear to my heart,” Marvin said. “Our campus mission for Vanderbilt Athlete Ally is to increase support for all student-athletes
no matter who they are or how they identify
uplift and really create a safe and welcoming space for all athletes.”
Helping encourage healthy mindsets for fellow students to support each other also led Marvin to co-chair the mental health and social impact committees within the Vanderbilt Student-Athlete Advisory Council
Marvin’s first visit to Vanderbilt set the stage for authentic connections thanks to the athletics leadership team
“It was my dream of an athletic department to see so many strong women representing Vanderbilt athletics
The little kid in me lit up,” Marvin said
and then how she builds personal connection
I think this is absolutely one of a kind.”
The athletics staff also helped Marvin craft an academic game plan to advance her dream of being a doctor. Marvin recently earned a spot in the biomedical sciences program and will work toward a master’s degree
She believes medicine is an avenue to extend her compassion for others
“I am somebody who aspires to provide care by leading with empathy and trying to put myself in my patients’ shoes
health and society classes help prepare me to be the type of doctor I want to be,” she said
Marvin embodies this attitude of active compassion in everything she does
and her teammates and coaches have recognized it since day one
“Sarah is someone who is not only well-rounded and heavily invested in her growth
but most importantly the growth of people around her,” Thomas said
“Sarah represents the Vanderbilt vision of Crescere aude well
and her spirit is contagious among the team
She is a true student-athlete and a true representation of Vanderbilt.”

This year’s 12th edition of the Scary Movies festival at Film at Lincoln Center premiered Ari Aster’s extended version of “Midsommar” this past Saturday
the Oscar-nominated actor known for “Hustle & Flow,” and “Empire,” semi-retired from acting and decided to invent his own form of mathematics
Howard claims to have developed a new form of mathematics where 1 x 1 = 2
He believes traditional math is flawed and spent years creating his own version
He even built models with plastic pieces to demonstrate his theory
Terryology went on to confuse mathematicians worldwide
which included building new hydrogen technology to replace flight
he’s now telling Bill Maher that he came very close to portraying soul legend Marvin Gaye in a biopic
but one pivotal revelation ultimately led him to walk away from the part
“I was over at Quincy Jones’ house and I’m asking Quincy
‘I’m hearing rumors that Marvin was gay,’ and I’m like
and I wouldn’t have been able to do that,” he said
referring to the possibility of portraying Gaye’s sexuality onscreen
Howard was quick to clarify his position: “It does not make me homophobic to not want to kiss a man
I just can’t play that character 100 percent,” he said
“I can’t surrender myself to a place that I don’t understand.”
the only grown man brave enough to declare that 1 x 1 doesn’t equal 1
but rather 2 — instantly becoming both a philosopher and a math teacher's worst nightmare — is absolutely not homophobic
and that’s despite threatening to cut off his lips if a man were to ever kiss them

They moved to Mandan in 1970 where he worked as a mechanic at multiple locations throughout the Bismarck/Mandan area finally ending his career with Morton County
and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren as “The Picky Grandpa.” He was always around to lend a helping hand and when the weather was good
you could find him making something in his workshop
Marv and Gerri loved to travel and go camping and in 1989 they joined the FCRV Roughrider Camping Club holding state leadership roles and attending the national conventions
Marv’s favorite travels were to Alaska

They added edge rusher Josh Sweat and veteran defensive linemen Calais Campbell and Dalvin Tomlinson to a roster that went 8-9 and missed the playoffs last season
Offensively, they have a solid core that consists of two-time Pro Bowl quarterback Kyler Murray
tight end Trey McBride and wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.
Harrison had a solid rookie year in 2024 with 62 catches
With offseason workouts taking place across the league
some have noticed that Harrison has bulked up lately
Some fans on X are hopeful this could be a portend of big things to come for Harrison this fall
replying to the question if a big sophomore season is coming
"He definitely he could have a way better season it all depends on Murray and the offense"
"Bulking up as a wr is not a good thing," wrote one fan
"It's makes you slower and you lose flexibility."
"let’s hope kyler can actually get him the ball," wrote another fan
"Dude don’t need to be putting on weight he need to be getting faster," wrote another fan
"Still going to be trash," another user wrote
"Yeah if he gets traded to a team with a real QB," another user wrote
At Ohio State, Harrison was a two-time All-American, and during the 2023 season, he was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and the Big Ten Most Valuable Player
he caught 67 passes and tallied 1,211 receiving yards and 14 receiving touchdowns
Former Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr
Kyle Robertson / Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY Sports
he only caught 53.4% of the passes that he was targeted on
Perhaps his newfound bulk will help him secure the ball through contact from opposing defenders
His father, Marvin Harrison, was a Hall of Fame wideout who spent his entire 13-year career with the Indianapolis Colts. The elder Harrison played with legendary quarterback Peyton Manning for most of his career, and together, they led the Colts to a Super Bowl championship during the 2006 season
It is with a broken heart that the family of Marvin Petty announce his passing on January 17
I am sure that there was rejoicing as he entered into heaven
Because there waiting on him was his precious wife of 65 years who passed away January 11
and their first born daughter who died at birth
1935 (89 years old) to Jim Petty and Lorene Uren Petty
Marvin was a very hard worker he started working in the coal mines with his father and brothers at a very young age
He proudly served his country during the Korean War for two years
After returning home he served another two years in the Guard
He then started his career as a brick cleaner and then went into construction as a laborer
He worked for many years until sickness would no longer allow him to work
He was always happiest in the woods or on the lake
He still talked about it even on the day it snowed recently
To me he will always be the greatest hunter and fisherman
He had a world of knowledge about the sport
My mom always thought he should have written a book
But he did not want to give his secrets away
He was already looking forward to the 2025 season
He was a very faithful reader of his bible
He had read it many times over from cover too cover
So many times he had lost tract of the count
Marvin was preceded in death by his precious wife Charlotte Petty and his first born daughter and their fur baby Shorty
Marvin leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter Kim Petty Garner
His sister Ruth Alice Green and brother Donnie Petty
