Strong Santa Ana winds complicating the response by carrying embers toward adjacent residential areas
the response was escalated to a second alarm
Firefighters initially attempted an interior attack but quickly transitioned to a defensive strategy as the blaze spread
firefighters successfully brought the fire under control
Despite the extensive firefighting efforts
no injuries were reported among civilians or firefighters during the incident
They received assistance from the Redlands Fire Department and Cal Fire – San Bernardino Unit
The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing
being conducted by the County Fire’s Office of the Fire Marshal
Community members are left to reflect on the loss of the Moose Lodge
which served as a central hub for local gatherings and events

A Mentone man who crashed into a home Thursday had also been shot
according to Dekalb County Sheriff Nick Welden
died from his injuries after he crashed into the home in the 3000 block of US-117 in Mentone Thursday evening
but he died at the scene from his injuries
and the Dekalb County Criminal Investigation Unit and the Jacksonville State University's Center for Applied Forensics investigated
DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said of the incident: "This was such a senseless act of violence that took a man's life and changed one family forever

At 5:45 this morning, San Bernardino County Fire responded to a reported structure fire in the 2100 block of Mentone Boulevard in the community of Mentone
The first engine arrived to find a well involved
medium sized commercial building that operates as the local Moose Lodge
Gusty Santa Ana winds were carrying embers into the adjacent community creating a threat to the nearby homes
The incident was balanced to a second alarm response
Firefighters mounted an aggressive interior attack while additional resources patrolled the neighborhoods monitoring the ember cast
the high winds carried the fire rapidly through the lodge and forced firefighters to transition to a defensive attack
The fire was brought under control 90 minutes after arrival
Firefighters were instrumental in preventing the ignition of nearby residences
No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported
Eleven engines, three truck companies, one hand crew and three chief officers totaling seventy personnel were assigned to the incident. County Fire was assisted by Redlands Fire Department and Cal Fire – San Bernardino Unit
The cause of the fire remains under investigation through County Fire’s Office of the Fire Marshal

which combines fresh Roma tomatoes sliced and marinated in balsamic vinegar
and topped with mozzarella and cheddar cheese
While sure not to reveal all of her secrets
Moon did share with us that the tomato slices are thoroughly soaked in balsamic vinegar and Italian seasonings
and then layered alongside mayonnaise and cheeses before being baked in a 10-inch pie crust
She shares that the coveted recipe was given to her by customer Cindy Tyson who made a special request for the dish
slices of the pie were offered to those early to dine that night
“People say that they make it at home and it just doesn’t taste the same,” Moon says
“I don’t know if it’s just the vibes at the Wildflower and the love the kitchen puts into it.”

(WDEF) — Authorities in DeKalb County are investigating a shooting that has been ruled a homicide
DeKalb County 911 received a call from the 3000 block of US Highway 117 regarding a vehicle that struck a residence
The caller also mentioned the male inside the vehicle had been shot
According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO)
the victim was identified as 39-year-old Marcus Adam Battles
Battles died on scene as a result of his injuries
as Battle’s death was ruled a homicide
DCSO stated that this is an ongoing investigation
