something is moving into the old Risoldi's Great Valu grocery store on Quakerbridge and Sloan Avenues in Hamilton
there's proof that another grocery store will be taking its place
It's not any 'ole grocery store though
it's the largest Indian grocery chain in the United States
It's called Patel Brothers
It started way back in 1974 and has grown by leaps and bounds since
only the second location in Mercer County (the other is in East Windsor) will be opening in the Mercerville section of Hamilton
If you don't remember Risoldi's grocery store (I miss it)
it's in the shopping center where the Robert Wood Johnson Fitness Center currently is
When Risoldi's grocery store closed several years ago, some of the space was renovated so Shop Rite Wines and Spirits could move across the street (it used to be where the new Wawa is) to a new home
The website describes the store like this: "At Patel Brothers our mission is to bring the best ingredients from South Asia right to your doorstep
With a wide variety of authentic regional grocery and spice products
we strive to reconnect people with the familiar flavors on India."
Patel Brothers' slogan is "Celebrating Our Food...Our Culture."
No word on how long it will take to convert the old Risoldi's Great Valu into the new Patel Brothers

If you're a Chipotle fan and live in or around Hamilton Township (Mercer County)
Hamilton's first Chipotle location has officially opened
the traffic nightmare when Chick fil A was on that corner
It just moved across the street (where Ruby Tuesdays was) into a bigger
brand-new location with a mobile order drive-thru and more space to handle the crowd
Back to the latest addition, Chipotle
There are other Chipotle locations nearby in Lawrence and East Windsor (about 15 minutes up Route 130)
Having one in Hamilton Marketplace is so convenient for many who do all their errands in that shopping center
Whether you're a fan of their famous guacamole or prefer to pack on the proteins
You can grab your food to go or sit down to enjoy it inside
Every single time I've been in Hamilton Marketplace recently
I've checked on the progress of this new location
If you've been driving to surrounding towns for your Chipotle fix
I'm sure this will become a local favorite
Hamilton Township's first Chipotle is located at 555 Marketplace Boulevard (Right off Route 130 North) in Hamilton Marketplace

Family Café has finally opened in Hamilton Township (Mercer County)
It's where Starbucks was before the new one with the drive thru was built across White Horse Mercerville Road
The big "Coming Soon" sign was up for months
it's been swapped out for a "Now Open" sign
It's serving breakfast and lunch primarily and dinner on Wednesdays
For lunch there's a big variety of burgers
Locals are buzzing about it on social media
I saw in a private Hamilton community Facebook group that reviews so far are very positive
Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day...breakfast sandwiches
In my house we even have breakfast for dinner and call it "Brinner."
Although residents are very happy about the new restaurant they're concerned that the parking lot is way too small. Some say it was fine though and the restaurant was almost full. We'll have to wait and see
Close by there will be another new restaurant in the near future
PJ's Pancake House is taking over the classic Fame Diner. It's keeping the same footprint but we'll be all new. Click here for more details

Chipotle is coming to Hamilton Township after all, according to TAPinto Hamilton/Robbinsville
After the Hamilton Township Zoning Board shot it down previously
plans have been approved to build a new Chipotle Mexican Grill at the corner of Route 33 and Whitehorse-Mercerville Road
It will be across from the Applebee's Grill and Bar where the old Lukoil gas station was
The new Chipotle will be 2,325 square feet and have dine-in seating
Some board members and local residents were concerned that the lot size wasn't big enough for the new restaurant and would cause traffic and parking issues
It will sit in front of a residential neighborhood
Former Councilwoman, Ileana Schirmer, voted against the Chipotle in the most recent vote saying
"My feelings and position about this project haven't changed
I think it's too big of a project for that small area
My concern is the effect it will have on the residents of the area."
Hard to believe this will be the first Chipotle in Hamilton Township considering it's so big
There are only a few in Mercer County actually
There's one in Mercer Mall (Lawrence Township)
and the newest location on Route 130 in East Windsor Township
in the Shop Rite shopping center (a stand alone restaurant near the road)
You can read the article in its entirely here

Whoa, have I got some big restaurant news for you. Hamilton is upping its breakfast game this fall. I just found out that local favorite, PJ's Pancake House
is taking over Fame Diner's spot in the township
I spoke with PJ's Pancake House owner
and he's very excited to be opening in the legendary location in Kuser Plaza on Whitehorse Avenue. The current building will torn down and a new building constructed in the Fame footprint
Will there be a bar at this Hamilton location like the Robbinsville location
Because there's already a liquor store in Kuser Plaza
I'm so excited for this new addition. I'm sure the community will be too. It's sad to see the old Fame Diner sit vacant after being so popular for so many years. The Nodaros family were the proud owners for 25 years, then retired and sold the business in 2017. Since then many say it went downhill until it closed its doors for good back in early October of 2021

The most adorable trend is taking over Mercer County
New Jersey right now and I honestly think everyone needs to take part in it
Over the past few years, a Facebook group called Mercer Rocks NJ was made a lot of people hopped on the trend
It's a trend that's happening in the Mercer County area that has people collecting rocks
and then hiding them all over the county for others to find
and I just think it's a fun little game that's happening in Mecer right now
The Facebook group is full of artists and families who have contributed to this community trend and I just think it's an awesome way to get everyone to come together and have a little bit of fun
people have gotten so creative with different themes and pictures they decide to paint on these rocks
While scrolling through the Mercer Rocks NJ Facebook group
Some people are painting 15 rocks at a time some with Father's Day themes
Halloween and even paying tribute to their favorite logos or cartoons
The group is working on getting a ton of projects started like a snake of painted rocks and more to come
I can’t wait to start painting and spotting them everywhere
This is the absolute perfect trend for summer and now that you know about Mercer Rocks, I'm sure you'll be seeing them everywhere

My friends at Mercer Eats and Jersey Digs are reporting that a new Chipotle Mexican Grill may be coming soon to Hamilton Township (Mercer County)
It would be located at 249 Route 33 and the corner of Whitehorse-Mercerville Road....across from Mercerville Shopping Center and Applebees
The township recently tore down a Lukoil gas station at that location
this would be the first Chipotle Mexican Grill in town
call for the new restaurant to have a drive thru
There will also be 17 parking spaces if you plan to go inside
The proposed fast food restaurant still needs several approvals from the Hamilton Township Zoning Board of Adjustment before going forward
There's a virtual hearing scheduled for tonight (Tuesday
I hope it's approved because that would make it the only Chipotle Mexican Grill in the area with a drive thru
The other locations in Mercer County...Mercer Mall in Lawrenceville

Today is National Cheesesteak Day (Friday, March 24th) and if you're looking to celebrate by chowing down on nice, juicy one here's where to find one right here in our area.
I know that nearby Philadelphia is famous for its cheesesteaks
Peter Genovese from NJ Advance Media ranked NJ's 35 best cheesesteaks for NJ.com and here are the ones he loved from Mercer County
Coming in at #34 is Pete's Steakhouse in Hamilton Township
"Pete's Steak House Tavern is a cozy roadhouse retreat; dig the old-time ads on the walls (25-cent jumbo steaks
55-cent dishes of ravioli at the original Chambers Street
We don't talk much about chicken cheesesteaks on this list
but you can find commendable ones at Pete's
if you want to nudge the cheesesteak envelope a bit."
"The brightly-decorated strip mall cheesesteak joint opened in 2005
The most peppery cheesesteak in New Jersey is the Peter Piper at Gaetano's
jalapeno peppers and hot peppers add up to pepper-lovin' nirvana
I'm drooling just thinking about it."
This list wouldn't be complete without Meatheadz in Lawrence
It just moved to a bigger location in the Lawrence Shopping Center with indoor
"Everyone who recommended Meatheadz on Twitter told me to order the Drippin' Steak (rib eye with provolone and dipped in au jus)
and the juice/broth made for a drippingly delicious sandwich
But I liked a regular cheesesteak with American even more; it's loaded with juicy

Is this the future of shopping malls? This mall in New Jersey has now officially implemented a new rule that pertains to kids under 18 who show up to shop around. Garden State Plaza has officially announced a new rule that they’re putting into effect for kids and teenagers under 18
the second largest mall in the Garden State has announced that they’ll be checking IDs and anyone 18 who wishes to enter and shop around will need to have an adult chaperone on Friday and Saturday nights
The rule is that anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult when shopping after 5 pm on Fridays and Saturdays
There will be different pick-up and drop-off zones for minors who are walking around the mall to be picked up at 5 pm on those days if not accompanied by an adult
The statement is saying that the rule will officially go into effect on April 28 and that all mall management will be checking IDs once the clock hits 5 pm
Is this going to be a new trend for businesses
I remember getting dropped off at the mall in middle school and high school with my friends because it's one of the only things you can do with your friends when you’re that age
The limitation does not apply to kids under the age of 10, which most likely wouldn’t be in the mall without a guardian anyway, as stated on nbcnewyork.com
don't forget it goes into effect on April 28
