— Community members will gather this weekend to commemorate one of Davie County's most famous residents
The Town of Mocksville will host its annual Daniel Boone Festival on Saturday
The event will transport visitors back to the late 1700's when the American pioneer spent 25 years living in what's now Davie County
There will be living history demonstrations at the Carolina Frost Cabin
family friendly celebration will also feature vendors
"History is really important," said Jeannette Pitts
Director of Community Development for the Town of Mocksville
"I think sometimes we tend to forget where folks come from and looking at our history
I think knowing and hearing the name 'Daniel Boone' is not enough
I think you should know the history behind where he grew up
what he did in history and get that back out there to our younger generation
The festival runs from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. For more information about the event click here

A disturbing case has emerged from Mocksville Senior Living
where an employee faces multiple charges following alleged inappropriate conduct with patients
Davie County Sheriff's Deputies were called to the Hospital Street location
after a reported assault involving Ronnie Mccoy and Cindy Gale James Rice

— A Mocksville family is picking up the pieces after a fire took over their home 12 days before Christmas
ABC45’s Lisbeth Ramirez has more on how they are getting through this tough time
“You don’t think I’m gonna lose my house one day.” Christy and Jeremy Kent were shopping for Christmas gifts on Friday
home they saw fire truck in front of them and shortly after received a frightening call from Christy's brother
I was like 'What are you talking about?' 'why are you saying this?' And he said 'No our house is on fire' and I started immediately 'Where is Lilly?' "Where is Lilly our daughter?'
Their 13-year-old was inside the house when the fire started
shut the door to this room that belonged to her uncle
The Kents say the cause of the fire was an electrical malfunction and that the fire started in the attic and then went into the room of Christy's brother
“It was quite a scene and not something you expect to see on a random Friday afternoon.”
“It took several hours to put out the fire and roughly 40,000 gallons of water
Now the Kents are just happy that they're able to celebrate Christmas together
“We’ve been through a lot so I’m hoping that Christmas can be joyful
napping whatever just try to recoup a little bit from the last week-and-a-half.”
The family started a GoFundMe and the community has already started the giving spirit
Their goal is almost met with 75% being covered
"You know we see a lot of division in society
it’s been a major coming together of people to support a family while they're going through tragedy."
And while they reminisce on the 10 years of memories
they are grateful their two children are safe
Both parents say there are a lot of decisions to make on whether they will try and save the house or start a new adventure
