hosts a soft opening for friends and family to experience Late Rider before the public on Thursday
the new country-themed bar officially opened its doors on Friday
Moline's newest bar is bringing a little bit of country to downtown
Late Rider at 1405 Fifth Street in Moline is a country-themed bar that promises live music
Late Rider held a soft opening Friday evening and opens to the public on Saturday at 4 p.m
The new bar is the latest for Dan Bush, who owns several other Quad-Cities favorites including the Take Cover Tiki Club around the corner from Late Rider and Armored Gardens and Devon's Complaint Dept. in Davenport. Bush also owned both Analog Arcade bars in Davenport and Moline, but announced the closure of both earlier this year
Analog's Davenport location will remain open until September when the lease expires
The Moline location was closed down in favor of renovating the space into a country-western bar
"The space just offers so much," Bush said
adding the building has two floors plus an outdoor patio
The vision for Late Rider was to create a 365 degree experience
photo booth and live music on Thursdays from 6-9 p.m.
“I’m not a big fan of sit-down restaurants because you can’t mingle and hangout for a while
but this is like a big hangout," Bush said
"This is where we open the doors and it’s a party.”
dart boards and taxidermy contribute to the honky-tonk atmosphere at Late Rider's soft opening on Thursday
Patron's of Analog will remember dark walls
moody lighting and walls lined with arcade games
Late Rider offers a more open concept with tables for groups and a big dance floor for line dancing
which will be hosted on Fridays from 7-9 p.m
with taxidermy covering a majority of the walls
The yellow paint and rich wood finishes give the bar a country tavern feel
which Bush said is also reflected on the menu
loaded fries and a hot honey chicken sandwich topping the list
patrons will be able to find a list of themed cocktails and mocktails
Late Rider will specialize more in domestics and bourbon

Vitas said the mall has seen diminishing assessed evaluation in the last several years and because of that fewer tax dollars have been coming in overtime based on property tax appeal by the group
He hasn’t heard from the new owner but said city leaders have hopes for what the site could become
“I think the city would like to see an active business area again

(KWQC) - City leaders will hold a tree planting ceremony in memory of former Moline Mayor Stan Leach
Stan Leach passed away on Feb. 19
Organizers said he made history as the first Moline mayor elected to three consecutive terms
The tree will serve as a living tribute to Leach’s contributions to the community
(KWQC) - Moline and state officials presented the next steps and momentum surrounding the passenger rail project
The passenger rail from the Quad Cities to Chicago has been one of our community’s most-talked-about projects since it was announced in 2008
According to Moline Mayor Sangeetha Rayapati
the Illinois Department of Transportation has shared several solutions that are on the table:
The best of these options is being considered at the state level
Rayapati said this is giving more cause to work together to try and find the best option for the Quad Cities
Rayapati said there are multiple reasons the community can benefit from this rail
including as a way to commute for employment
allowing students to get to and from college campuses and visitors can come and go
“We know our communities are better off when visitors can come and go in multiple ways to experience all that the Quad Cities have to offer
We know we are better off when we are not isolated from economic activity in the rest of the state or this region of the country
and we need to keep making sure that isolation does not become our reality,” Rayapati said
Illinois House Representative Gregg Johnson said the passenger rail is not only about convenience
and connecting the region to new opportunities
“I will not support any transit package this year that does not include dedicated capital funding for passenger rail service from Chicago to the Quad Cities,” Johnson said
“This project has been delayed for far too long in our communities
Johnson said he supports public transit investment across Illinois but will not back something that ignores the Quad Cities community
The Quad Cities Chamber President & CEO Peter Tokar said at the media conference; “As mentioned
with the federal funds set to sunset in 2026
we’re at a critical junction point to bring this project across the finish line
The Chicago Rail Connection project has already brought economic impact to the Quad Cities via the station building Moline and the amenities ready to serve that station
will generate over $250 million in economic impact to our area over a 10-year time period and create more than 800 new jobs
so the time is now to fulfill the commitment to bring passenger rail access to the Quad Cities and make this critical investment.”
western bar will replace Moline’s Analog Pizza & Arcade in May

and the Moline location will close “in the next few weeks.”
