The agency announced a downgrade of the "outlook" on Thailand's credit rating from "Stable" to "Negative." This marks the first time in nearly 17 years that the outlook has been lowered to "Negative." Although this adjustment does not yet constitute a downgrade of Thailand's credit rating itself, the shift in outlook to negative serves as an economic warning that Thailand cannot afford to disregard. This is particularly true as Moody's explicitly stated that the change in outlook stems from a significant concern: "Thailand faces a risk that its economic and fiscal strength will weaken." Data from Kasikorn Research Center (KResearch) indicates that while Thailand has experienced negative credit rating outlook adjustments before, this instance differs from previous ones because past crises occurred when Thailand's public debt-to-GDP ratio was still relatively low. The Thai government's economic stimulus measures in 2008-2009 led to a significant increase in the fiscal deficit. However, Thailand's public debt only rose from 35.0% of GDP in September 2008 to 39.3% of GDP in October 2010, an increase of just 4.3%. In contrast, the latest data from the Public Debt Management Office (PDMO) shows that Thailand's public debt currently stands at 64.21% of GDP, a significantly higher level than before and rapidly approaching the debt ceiling of 70%. Therefore, Moody's downgrade of our outlook is not solely due to an impending crisis stemming from reciprocal tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump, as the government might suggest. The higher public debt leaves us with very little "fiscal space" to absorb a new crisis compared to previous times, a problem that individuals within the government are still not being entirely truthful about. Therefore, instead of criticizing the credit rating agency for being too early or too late in their rating or outlook assessment of our economy, the government should heed the weaknesses in the Thai economy that Moody's has warned about, acknowledging the economic vulnerabilities and risks. They should then work to improve and resolve these issues, developing a plan to strengthen the economic structure. This includes refraining from short-term populist policies like cash handouts and instead focusing on making the Thai economy grow and be competitive in the long term. He also skippered his country on 12 occasions and was a Test Lion in 2005 leaving all-action openside with a bulging cabinet trophy “It would have been so easy to have stuck to form and built my team around Leicester Tigers but I made a conscious effort to include just a handful of those lads I spent so much time with,” Moody quipped it’s purely a bit of subjective fun and I reckon I’ll kick myself for leaving the odd one out here or there but this is the best XV I reckon I’d want to play for my life against Mars or Jupiter!” 15 Geordan Murphy (Ireland and Leicester Tigers): My best mate a genius of a player and a Welford Road favourite he was the finest counterattacking full-back around and I’ve spent so much time in his company- from sharing a flat together to British and Irish Lions tours 14 Rory Underwood (England and Leicester Tigers): Rory was an athletic freak even in the amateur days I played his last two seasons at Tigers and his professionalism and focus were things I aspired to reach He set the standards of that crossover era and there’s still no wing in the English game that’s match his record at Test level 13 Brian O’Driscoll (Leinster and Ireland): Drico was my Lions skipper in 2005 and the influence he had There’s few backs that back rows worry about in terms of ruck and breakdown work but Brian was so good over the ball that we’d single him out as a threat every time we faced him at test level 12 Ma’a Nonu (Hurricanes, Highlanders, Blues, Toulon and New Zealand): I played some eight years against Ma’a at Test level and he was always a threat He evolved his game effortlessly too – from a banging crash merchant to a truly brilliant all-round centre One thing that I will share- when he put the black anti-reflection eye cream on in a Test one of our lads nicknamed him “Ma’aScara”- which amused me hugely 11 Alesana Tuilagi (Leicester Tigers and Samoa): The biggest and strongest human in the world One of my poorer decisions at Test level was picking a fight with him in 2004 at Twickenham after he tackled Mark Cueto in the air I reckon I landed one slap on his bone-like head which he repaid with about 10 right on the end of my nose It wasn’t even a split decision and he even won the sledging battle as we both were sent off Racing92 and New Zealand): Carter was so good that at times you felt powerless as a seven trying to shut him down He had so many weapons in his armoury that any question you posed of him would be answered fluently and brilliantly That 2005 Lions series elevated him to greatness and I was the openside trying to defend against his genius Toulon and Australia): I played against George so many times and he was always a difficult and abrasive opponent- one of those scrum-halves that has huge variety in his game but had the pass and gas to ignite any backline he also delivered the greatest sledge in rugby – “Four more years 8 Abdel Benazzi (Agen and France): Abdel just crossed with my early career years but his sheer size and brutal physicality made a massive impression upon me He was the definition of an emotion player and if he got on his emotional upslope Crusaders and New Zealand): The benchmark of opensides and a man who I faced many times in the Test arena His superpower was his intuition on playing on the edge of offside and breakdown laws but when you watched the tape back you realised his timing was simply unbelievable 6 Thierry Dusautoir (Toulouse and France): If Richie was the best flank I played against Nails in defence- a tackling machine- and much underrated with ball in hand A complete backrower and someone I relished facing Toulon and South Africa): An artist of lineouts and a very skilled man with ball in hand who was almost like a fourth flanker for the Boks The number of times he’d make the extra man around the 13 channel showed his rugby IQ 4 Martin Johnson (Leicester Tigers and England): The man with the monobrow is the single biggest influence on my career other than my late Dad His leadership of the Lions and England set the blueprint for the professional era 3 Julian White (Leicester Tigers and England): He did one job An absolute monster of a scrummager who minced any loosehead in his path and wonderfully old school in his approach to the game 2 Steve Thompson (Northampton Saints and England): I am not sure we celebrate Thommo in the way we should He was the best hooker in the world for a long period- a massive man even by modern standards- who combined great tight work with thundering carries around the park 1 Os du Randt (Cheetahs and South Africa): Whilst clearly a top scrummager Os’s superpowers were his work-rate around the ruck and his huge tackle count He was tireless around the pitch and had an amazing engine for a man of some The Thonotosassa Republican this week filed the Fresh Start Act and educational resources for returning citizens “People who have worked to turn their lives around after a criminal conviction deserve the opportunity to move forward not be held back by administrative barriers,” said Lee nearly one-third of Americans have a criminal record that can prevent them from getting a job or pursuing education — even when they qualify for record-sealing or expungement The Fresh Start Act of 2025 modernizes and streamlines these processes for states helping more individuals access the opportunities they’ve earned I look forward to seeing my colleagues come together to pass this important legislation and ensure that everyone who deserves a second chance has the opportunity to build a better future.” the proposed legislation would allow states that don’t already have automatic record-sealing and expungement laws to apply for federal help to conduct the processes That builds on efforts already in place in California and 11 other states to enact “Clean Slate” policies Florida is not among those with such a program Such policies make criminal records private without any action by the individual once they complete all sentencing requirements “The Fresh Start Act recognizes what we’ve seen on the ground: Clean Slate has the power to change lives,” said Sheena Meade, CEO of The Clean Slate Initiative “This legislation is an essential component of modernizing state infrastructure making sure federal support is spent on common-sense solutions that are serious about safety and benefit communities across the country A fresh start should be more than a promise; it should be a reality “Wild horses are a beloved symbol of the American spirit and deserve our protection,” the Longboat Key Republican said “Secretary Burgum’s experience and appreciation for our Western landscapes and wild horses make him the right person to lead these common sense reforms to safeguard these beautiful creatures we can move toward a more humane and fiscally responsible future for America’s wild horses and burros.” Buchanan serves as Co-Chair of the Animal Protection Caucus who said fertility controls were both humane and reversible The letter said implementation could result in millions in savings just by reducing holding costs for the agency The Anti-Defamation League last year alleged in a report that Wikipedia editors made numerous antisemitic changes particularly to entries about the Israel-Hamas conflict in the wake of the Oct wants answers from the publisher of the community-sourced platform “Evidence points to a startling lack of enforcement of Wikipedia’s most basic rules and editorial safeguards Given the immense influence that Wikipedia articles have over our online and real-life global conversations far more editorial responsibility and transparency are needed She led a letter with Rep asking Wikimedia Foundation CEO Maryana Iskander what is being done to enforce the online encyclopedia’s own rules against pro-terrorist content and anti-Jewish hate “One particularly egregious example of this manipulation involves distorting history with an aim to hide certain groups’ and figures’ support for terrorism and violence,” the letter reads “Editors have deliberately removed evidence of public figures’ support of political violence and overt antisemitism as well as erasing references across multiple articles that document terrorist violence This is especially evident on Wikipedia’s entry for Hamas where significant edits have downplayed and de-emphasized the organization’s terror activities.” The letter notes that a board of senior editors banned eight individuals from making changes to articles related to the conflict in Israel last year “My hope is that our bipartisan questions and concerns can curb a suspected coordinated campaign to manipulate Wikipedia content that drives antisemitic content and biases,” Wasserman Schultz said May 2, 2011 — “Osama bin Laden killed by U.S. forces” via History.com — Bin Laden forces during a raid on his compound hideout in Pakistan the terrorist network of Islamic extremists had been the target of a nearly decadelong international search Navy SEALs in two Black Hawk helicopters descended on the compound in Abbottabad a military center north of Pakistan’s capital including bin Laden and one of his adult sons May 2, 2000 — “Bill Clinton acts to make GPS more accurate” via The New York Times — The President approved letting boaters motorists and hikers use a satellite-navigation system with the same pinpoint accuracy that the military has long enjoyed Clinton ordered the United States military to stop scrambling satellite signals used by civilians The decision should mean that Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers will be 10 times more accurate which is expected to double from $8 billion to more than $16 billion in the next three years compiled by Jacob Ogles and edited and assembled by Phil Ammann and Ryan Nicol my friend recommended to me and I’ve gotten 2 checks for a total of $9,200…this is the best decision I made in a long time This extra cash has changed my life in so many ways Reply and website in this browser for the next time I comment Δdocument.getElementById( "ak_js_1" ).setAttribute( "value" This platform and all of its content are owned by Extensive Enterprises Media Publisher: Peter Schorsch @PeterSchorschFL © Copyright by Extensive-Enterprises 2025. STAFF LOGIN Part of Jerry Stackhouse’s defensive philosophy which he’s been drilling into the Golden State Warriors A higher pick-up point — the defender engaging an offensive player further from the basket — encourages the ballhandler to drive since the Warriors don’t have a true rim protector in the middle the likelihood of getting scored on increases So the tendency is to back up and engage the ballhandler closer to the support behind them Waiting to be attacked is a reactionary posture That’s especially true since the Jimmy Butler acquisition committed the Warriors to playing small most of the time Ja and those guys just going to run past us.’ But at some point A fourth-year vet with a roller-coaster career Moody found footing in the Warriors’ rotation by adopting this mindset He’s now the head of the snake in the Golden State defense He’s the preferred antagonist to the league’s best point guards His first three seasons in the league saw inconsistent minutes because But his defensive limitations were one of the main reasons he didn’t have a consistent role 205 pounds — has never been viewed as an exceptional athlete not enough to draw the most difficult matchups His lateral movement didn’t allow him to stay in front of the NBA’s speedy and shifty guards Moody is the one the defense throws at opposing point guards He’s the first wave of the discomfort they hope to impart “I can’t say I envisioned this happening,” Moody said with a smile after chasing around Morant for 30-plus minutes in Tuesday’s Play-In Tournament win over Memphis Moody compensates for whatever lateral quickness he lacks by employing his strength and 7-foot-1 wingspan The Warriors have honed his technique to take away the space between him and the ballhandler while still being hard to get around He puts his weight onto the often-lighter guard And the activator of all these elements is aggressiveness worked on timing the dribble of ballhandlers and how Moody can take advantage of his length Weems taught Moody a tactic he learned from Wes Unseld Jr Every touch forces the ballhandler to adjust “Making the guy move the ball around,” Weems said I’ma measure their dribble and figure out how to get my hands on the ball And he’s carried over some of that stuff in terms of being really aware of how guys are going to attack you and then learn how to use his length.” Moody putting it all together has been a boon to the Warriors’ defense Moody’s 109 deflections were the fourth-most in the NBA behind Atlanta’s Dyson Daniels (156) Sacramento’s Keon Ellis (115) and the Los Angeles Clippers’ Kris Dunn (112) — all reputed defensive specialists the Warriors led the NBA in steals and had five players totaling at least 30 — Draymond Green (59) Stephen Curry (35) and Brandin Podziemski (32) Stackhouse said a higher point of attack can actually help prevent getting beat off the dribble It takes away the runway for the ballhandler preventing players like Morant from building steam on their drives His agility holds up as he fights over screens and “rides the drive” as Stackhouse calls it — flanking a penetrator all the way to the cup defending opposing point guards is a valuable role as it supports Curry preserving him for the heroics they’ll surely need in the playoffs This role also makes the player the face of the Warriors’ aggression on defense Klay Thompson built a Hall of Fame career hounding the best point guards The Warriors had an ideal tip-of-the-spear in Andrew Wiggins and the Warriors aren’t exactly stocked with elite on-ball defenders Green and Butler are good in man-to-man defense but they’re forwards who tend to set up closer to the paint — and their help defense is too vital for such an exclusive task Gary Payton II is one of the best in the NBA at guarding the ball And with Green and Butler anchoring the back of the defense the Warriors need a shooter on the floor with them high enough to make the scouting report and trustworthy enough to want him taking open 3s That he can also now handle this pivotal assignment makes him invaluable His conviction shows up in his disposition In the final seconds of the first half against Memphis But Moody got a deflection that stymied Morant’s rhythm Moody turned to the Warriors’ bench and did what you don’t see from him often He scowled as he faced down the Warriors’ animated bench Moody nodded his head up and down as he absorbed the adoration (Top photo of Moses Moody during Tuesday’s Play-In Tournament game against Memphis: Ezra Shaw / Getty Images) LinkedIn and 3rd parties use essential and non-essential cookies to provide, secure, analyze and improve our Services, and to show you relevant ads (including professional and job ads) on and off LinkedIn. You can update your choices at any time in your settings I decided an interview with the biggest combination Fielder and aviation expert I know was in order: Meet James who is a first officer for a cargo airline (and whose last name is being withheld because we would like it to stay that way) Our conversation has been edited and condensed for clarity I get the impression that most pilots are not Nathan Fielder fans I’ve actually tried to talk to a couple people that I’ve been flying with about him and I find that I’m not really able to even describe what he is Nobody that I’ve spoken to has even heard of him What kinds of media do you think the average pilot is consuming Landman has been really popular recently but I really can’t describe how many people are talking about that show Game of Thrones, when it was out, was big. I mean, pilots really like pilot stuff. You know, Top Gun is huge and anything that involves airplanes gets a lot of us to watch it Do you think pilots will discover this show and watch it I don’t know if it would break onto the radar for pilots. I mean, it already being a sequel of a weird HBO alt-comedy show I don’t really see it becoming popular with pilots The scenarios he’s created in the first episode are actually pretty similar to a lot of stuff that we watch anyway for real training and they’re basically reading the script of high-profile accidents to try to study and find out what went wrong and what could have been done better we meet a pilot the show is shadowing named Moody I would say he kind of doesn’t fit whatever stereotype of a pilot people might have in their head I went to school with a lot of people like him he doesn’t look like he’d be fun to fly with.” It’s just kind of a way you clock people and the way that he seems to be carrying himself and inexperience is not really what you want in a pilot They don’t tell you what airline he flies for but they say he flies for a regional subsidiary of United Airlines he has a very entry-level job in terms of airline jobs people don’t stay first officers for a very long time at regionals So I would guess that he’s been there for less than two years This gets at one of the common debates that people have about Nathan Fielder’s shows which I think might explain why you’re a superfan and I’m not: I feel like Nathan putting this somewhat dorky guy on TV might not be very kind [Laughs] I think that’s kind of Nathan’s style Where he’s not necessarily changing who he is it’s just that this is the person he found who’s willing to go through it but I also think that most pilots would not have responded to something like this It was interesting to me that the show portrays the pilot as pretty awkward with his girlfriend dimly aware of the idea out there that pilots are supposed to be ladies’ men just because the kinds of people who are entering aviation are very different than they used to be Another thing I noticed and wanted to talk to you about was when Moody was in the hotel room getting ready and you could see that as part of his uniform “James has a crazy long shirt like that!” Why are your shirts so long It’s just because they’re designed to be tucked in I think maybe more men have shirts like that than you might realize So a lot of men are walking around with shirts that go to their knees like that They’re shirts that are designed to be tucked into the pants It’s long so that when you’re reaching up—because or load things above our head—your shirt doesn’t get untucked you can either buy them online or there are specialty crew stores I spent a little more money to get the wrinkle-resistant one But you also don’t see me in the hotel most of the time Do you ever struggle with the ironing board like Moody did but if I’m ironing a shirt right as I’m walking out the door leave messes for people to clean up for you I also noticed on the show that the pilot goes through this special entrance at the airport that Nathan isn’t allowed to follow him through It stands for “known crew member,” and so pilots and flight attendants and maybe other essential airport staff I’m not sure everyone who gets access to it So there are separate lines and you go through a different security And they let you bring liquids in carry-ons and other stuff normal people can’t bring Sometimes I’m going on a trip for two weeks and I don’t want to bring a travel-size toothpaste there are all these places that pilots can go that everyone else can’t go I haven’t been in the passenger terminal ones nap rooms for longer layovers that aren’t long enough to get a hotel There might be bunks or beds or something to lay down in get out of the hustle of the passengers milling about in the terminal The idea that the pilots just kind of want to sit in the lounge and stare off into nowhere and not talk to each other but I would say the lounge is not necessarily a social place A lot of people might be preparing for their flight going over paperwork or doing other things like that or even just catching up on whatever else they have going on in their life a lounge like that is respected as a quiet place You’re trying not to be disruptive because you don’t know how long someone’s been working I noticed that the captain had an iPad in the lounge pilots seem to be obsessed with their iPads But it used to be that a pilot would go to the plane and they’d have a bag full of charts and maps—it was an entire bag just dedicated to it—and you needed to replace certain charts every 32 days or whatever it is So flight plans and maps and procedure charts and everything else is just all on the iPad Every pilot will have a company-issued iPad that has all of the necessary things on it to It’s not like we bring it around for Netflix or something Nathan makes a big deal about how Moody hasn’t ever met his captain that he’s flying with before But I’ve gleaned from you that most of the time you’re paired with someone you’ve never flown with before You don’t always know who you’re working with It’s pretty rare to fly with the same person more than once in the airline There are thousands of pilots working for some companies and unless you’re actively bidding or scheduling to try to end up with someone you’re just ending up with a random person I guess people expect it to be like a team like cops who are longtime partners on a cop show I wasn’t trying to imply that we don’t talk to each other go out of your way to introduce yourself before you get to the airplane And it’s not like you’ll never fly with the same person I would say Nathan Fielder is on the right track You’re not going to be socializing with your captain or your first officer before you even get to the airplane because you’re about to be spending four days or something with them You’re going to have plenty of time to chat and talk and get to know each other then and to just do the job doesn’t really require knowing each other So much of aviation and flying is basically like reading a script We have checklists and callouts and procedures and all this and all of our training is designed basically to make it so that it should not feel different flying with someone that you’ve flown with 100 times versus flying with a complete stranger That’s the standard that we’re all trained to it doesn’t really matter who’s sitting in the seat next to you You should be able to predict what they’re going to do “Flaps five.” I’m moving the flaps to five but then I’ve got three or four other things to do to set up the airplane that I do automatically because he’s just triggered it by us moving the flaps So the idea that you even need to know each other at all—it’s nice it’s good to have someone that you get along with when you’re flying but it’s almost entirely irrelevant to the actual action of flying What did you think of what the show had to say about the relationship between captain and first officer They were talking about how first officers might be afraid to speak up All decisions about the safety of the flight are meant to be discussed the captain is usually the more experienced pilot and is technically in charge but it’s two highly qualified professionals sitting in the front of the plane who are jointly making decisions there was the thought that the captain is the big shot and there have been a lot of differences In training over the years to bump up the role of the first officer to being more equal The way we fly airplanes in the cockpit has hugely changed and it’s been a hot topic for a long time now It’s not really any new concepts that he’s exploring on those fronts Fielder was very focused on the idea of improving how pilots communicate but from what you’ve told me about training and the flight simulators you do it seems like there’s a lot of emphasis on communicating Going back to the incidents that he was rehearsing Those are the same kinds of accidents that Those accidents that he thinks we need to figure out how to avoid in the future have already been incorporated into our training When you’re first starting and flying small airplanes he’s trying to solve—I don’t want to say it’s already a solved problem but I think that we are much further along on that front than he’s giving us credit for Beacon Pointe Advisors LLC trimmed its position in Moody's Co. industry continues to rapidly grow and expand the institute will go beyond traditional education offering students a comprehensive curriculum that combines the rich history ethics and art of storytelling in gaming with practical and hands-on courses focused on the business and development workflows of the industry “I have spent the past 25 years immersed in the business of making games,” Karch said the industry has grown at an unprecedented rate the same couldn’t be said about education in the gaming space The University of Texas at Austin and Moody College are the perfect place to build the world’s leading game education program It is a world-class university in one of the country’s leading hubs for game development This program is designed to give students the knowledge and new report warning that government policy decisions in the near term could contribute to higher interest rates and worsening debt for the United States Moody’s writes in its March 25 report: “The potential negative credit impact of sustained high tariffs unfunded tax cuts and significant tail risks to the economy have diminished prospects that these formidable strengths will continue to offset widening fiscal deficits and declining debt affordability.” The two other major credit rating agencies, Standard & Poor’s (S&P) and Fitch Ratings, have both already downgraded the nation’s rating — S&P in 2011 and Fitch in August 2023 Moody’s stated two primary reasons for downgrading the outlook in 2023: Both reasons continue to be top-of-mind for the rating organization with its March 2025 report noting that the fiscal situation continues to decline and U.S debt affordability is now weaker than other nations with the AAA rating "Even in a very positive and low probability economic and While the severity is uncertain, the global growth forecast for 2025 has been lowered. Moody's highlighted Thailand's strong external finances and institutional stability but noted slower post-COVID growth compared to peers and vulnerability to economic shocks like tariffs. Concerns were also raised about delayed fiscal consolidation and structural challenges like an aging population and low productivity. The Federation of Thai Industries Chairman Kriengkrai Thiennukul called for a major economic restructuring, noting the reliance on strong reserves while highlighting long-term structural weaknesses. He deemed the stimulus package necessary given lowered GDP forecasts.
